Guest Reviews
- Claudette (10/5): We as a family (10 members) had a wonderful time at Woodcroft! We enjoyed every moment of our stay. - The house feels like home! The beds in bedrooms were comfortable, the bathrooms roomy and well equipped. The house is very spacious. The view from the sunroom is beautiful. And we really enjoyed walking along the river. We could also make a fire every evening in the fireplace! And the host was always available regarding extra information regarding Nottingham Road. Nothing!

- Charlot (10/5): - De eigenaars waren heel sympathieke mensen! We hadden leuke gesprekken met hen en ze hielpen ons om leuke uitstappen te boeken. Het huis is prachtig gelegen in de natuur aan een dal. Het huis is groot en geriefelijk.
- gerhard (10/5): - Scenic and tranqual. .
- Hennie (9/5): - The setting. I felt like I was in paradise

- Ashiq (10/5): It was phenomenal - Nicole demonstrated motherly qualities by showing great concern and advise from the first 5min of being on the property, the continued check ups was much appreciated . I highly recommended Woodcroft to anyone who is seeking a tranquil and safe place to visit with a mesmerizing view . The hosts are welcoming and allow for a private stay not evading your privacy in any way. N/A
- Mike (10/5): A safe haven down the winding road! - We kindly received an upgrade from the cottage to the house.
Nivole was attentive and friendly.
Lovely down duvet kept us warm and cosy on a cool night.
Keep up your good work.

- Stefano (10/5): Midlands nature at its truest - Immersed in nature, it’s a little gem and you can feel the love and care of the people who have built and renovated this place. Not super easy to access (need a high-clearance vehicle) but it wasn’t an issue for me and somehow it added to the atmosphere
- Lin (9/5): -
- Julia (8/5): - Gorgeous location, lovely walk along river. Extremely spacious accommodation. Loved the verandah and outlook.
- Frances (9/5): Superb - Quiet and tranquil, perfect to relax and get away for some r & r
- Sudesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lourens (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (7/5): bucolic get away in forest environment next to a gargling river - tranquil and relaxing - all you could wish for in this secluded property, adjacent to a main homestead which is ideally located above a vocal river and in immersed in a forest. So tranquil Shower drainage needs attention
- Taljaard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ndileka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mabongi (8/5): Hosts were exceptional did everythig to make our stay the most comfortable. Lovely clean fresh country air - loved every - Clean fresh air, country views, lovely short walk to the river, hosts were exceptional!
- Seekola (7/5): Good - The setting was excellent The Rondavel wasn't to my expectations. Didn't feel cosy
- Hanlie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michelle (8/5): Beautiful property, wonderful hosts and unbelievably pretty area. - The location is absolutely exquisite and peaceful. The cottage was unlocked on arrival and the entire property is beautiful with lovely walks through a forest and along a river. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and went above and beyond. The cottage is small with an outdoor area, but in poor weather would be better for one person as it's quite compact. The cottage is also very close the the larger house (which is also accommodation) and other homes on the property.
- Nonceba (10/5): Relaxing and best place to connect - It was exactly what we needed with river, trees and tranquil Nothing
- Milo (9/5): Lekker, Lekker !!! - Home away from Home, very comfortable, plenty of space, river is gorgeous, and had it not been pouring with rain we would have explored the property more. A few more place would be nice
- Eurakha (8/5): It was tasteful, well equipped kitchen, great views, stunning house, lovely walk. All made for a w . - Fantastic location. Some protection from the bugs, bug spray, citronella etc would have been nice.
Fans in the room for would be good. Can’t open windows due to insects and mosquitoes.
- Sheila (9/5): Superb -
- Zeiler (9/5): Superb - It was just what I needed after surgery. Beautiful nature and so peaceful. The cottage was comfortable.
- Petrus (8/5): Tranquil and Comfortable! - Way above average and very comfortable rondawel with all you need for a good stay. Very quiet and set in beautiful nature surroundings. We would like to stay there again and explore the area, maybe some pathways. We enjoyed our short overnight stay, next time for sure at least two nights at Woodcroft. Drive through Lidgetton village was not a good experience, we will never do it when it is dark. Just a few things for the owners to attend to: check the total cleanliness, for example behind and underneath furniture and the carpets next to the bed; improve the outside sitting area - the furniture and the neatness of the brickfloor.
- Zinhle (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (9/5): Superb - Absolute serenity surrounded by an indigenous forest. Not enough time spent there!
- Moonean (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (8/5): Very good - Not applicable Access over difficult roads
- Twice (10/5): It was exceptional - The location is very beautiful but the terrain can be difficult to navigate especially when it is raining. But the scenery around the place is exceptional. The sign placed at the turn from the main gravel road needs to be visible from both sides of the road. It is not that visible when one comes from Lythwood Lodge direction, especially when visibility is poor (like at night).
- Noxolo (9/5): Good stay friendly family we met there , tranquility of birds , river singing nearby , clean and acc - Break fast was not included in our fee but we asked for bread they freely give us with cheese and honey for free Electricity was interrupted because of snow
- Terry (10/5): Relaxing in a stunning setting - An exceptional accommodation set in a beautiful area with cool forest walks and the pristine Lions River for walks and swimming. The cottage is so spacious with all amenities and so comfortable. With grounds and pathways so well maintained, and a host so accommodating, a perfect place to unwind and relax. Highly recommended. This accommodation lacks nothing.

- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Morag (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Ceri (7/5): Nicole went over and beyond and it was very cosy and tranquil - There could have been complimentary milk for coffee and the shower in the ma
- Jared (9/5): Superb, comfortable, peaceful and beautiful surroundings encourage quality time with family - Peaceful location with great hosts.
Well appointed for a self catering with everything you could possibly need.
Ample firewood to keep a warm fire going in the house.
Awesome indoor braai making braai time super easy and comfortable. It is a bit cold in the winter months and due to the house being rather large, the bedrooms lack proximity to the main lounge where the fireplace is. As such, the beds could do with heated blankets to keep the beds warm at night.
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (8/5): Perfect rustic spot - Location great, did not have breakfast. Cell reception a little poor, however considering the location this is understandable.
- Kirstie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Sally (8/5): Very good -
- Heinz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (7/5): Good -

- Serah (10/5): It is the most lovely place to stay in the midlands! Definitely a hidden gem and what a steal!! The host is amazing, she -
- Stopford (10/5): Beyond expectations, a must visit and plan for a few days...relaxation beyond compare - This place was incredible and so much more than expected. The surroundings are so beautiful and the cottage itself was spacious, beautifully decorated and had everything and more than what you need. The only unfortunate for me was having to travel through the little town to get there, with the road and livestock, children etc on the road, I found that a bit scary especially if one had to do it at night.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - What a GEM!! So beautifully and authentically decorated. Full of character. Very well kitted out- had everything you need and more
A truly peaceful and tranquil place to be Nothing
- Nonkululeko (10/5): Exceptional - The view was good Parking

- Neil (8/5): Very good - Cute , clean property with lovely water /river area. Very peaceful and a great retreat!
Nicole was a gracious host. Definitely a pace to return to for a restful weekend Nothing
- John (8/5): Very good - Very friendly owners and scenic position
- John (10/5): Paradise with Value - Beautiful location, stunning facilities, family oriented hosts... Homey atmosphere. Bed mattress was bit hard and difficult to get used too, but was ok on second night..
- Vasti (9/5): Superb -
- Jutta (10/5): Midlands treat - This cottage is a gem. Stunning view. The river walk a bonus. Well equipped for a cosy winter stay withe the closed stoep. We just missed the ❄️. Will be back to see it next time.
- Oosthuizen (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about this place. We will definitely be back. The listing was a bit confusing. There are two separate cottages you can book. The rondavel which is just for two people and the family cottage. We were also disappointed that we were not able to take our dogs with because it said pet friendly on request and we were only informed the day before that we can't take our dogs with. However, we absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back.
- Duplessis (2/5): Very poor - Did not even book at this place. Dont know how Booking.com messed this one up? Never booked there and felt very unsafe. No security and no reception.⁷
- Vivian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katish81 (8/5): Lovely little cottage, perfect for a simple Midlands escape. - Lovely, simple little cottage. Perfect for our overnight stay. Facilities were clean, linen was nice and kitchen is small but all you need. Hosts were lovely. No wifi and limited cell phone reception - which can be a pro if you want a total digital detox weekend!
- Grace (8/5): Tranquil place to unplug. Friendly dogs too - The welcome was great and assistance was appreciated. The network challenges were not so welcome. Wish reception was better.
- Courtney (8/5): Very good -
- Derek (10/5): Cosy country slice of heaven. - Everything! Location, atmosphere, hospitality, facilities,.. literally everything Absolutely nothing wrong here!
