• Mya (10/5): Comfortable with thoughtful extras - The small things that made it feel like someone had actually tried to live in the house. Extras like tongs and braai salt. Thoughtful placement of shelves, hooks and tables. Plenty of plug points. Honestly, the electric blankets were a life saver! Water was hot and immediate and decent pressure in the roomy shower. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of parking. Very clean. Great communication throughout the process and we appreciated that they were able to accommodate an earlier check in. Layout was a little odd but we got used to it. The house is quite drafty but it's old. Thankfully there were plenty of indoor fire places and extra blankets. An extra or separate toilet would have been a bonus.

• Michelle (6/5): Quite nice - Location, outside space and the internal braai The literally 100’s of mosquitoes was terrible unfortunately and really made the stay rather unpleasant. The beds would be far more comfortable as queen sized.

• Christopher Matthew (10/5): A true gem in Sutherland - Raka is the perfect choice for anyone visiting Sutherland. It is within close walking distance to several restaurants and attractions in town, and is incredibly good value for money. The house is authentic, very spacious and comfortable - with 2 large bedrooms, a living area with an indoor braai, a fully stocked kitchen, and even has full Dstv. Anneline was a friendly host and facilitated a truly fantastic stay for us!

• Aubrey (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sutherland. - The house was great, very clean and the appliances were great. The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels were top notch. The braai room was a bonus with all the equipment required. Whilst the location was semi-urban with chickens in the coop in the back yard, the two roosters were very disruptive and woke me both mornings of our stay at about 4 am! It was impossible to go back to sleep. WE have two hens in our urban garden in Stellenbosch and regularly get eggs every day. Once they go to sleep, you don't hear them. My suggestion is to get rid of the roosters and keep the hens!

• Frances (10/5): Wonderful Karoo stay! - Beautiful, 2 bedroomed Karoo house. Super clean, comfortable, and with everything you'll need for an overnight or longer stay. Our hosts sent us lots of information from where to eat, what to do, etc. in Sutherland. Anneline checked us in and showed around the house. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We definitely recommend RAKA!

• Isabella (9/5): Superb - We arrived in a cold rainstorm and was welcomed to a typical thick walled,high ceilinged Karoo 'dorps'(town) house by a friendly Anneline who gave us all the information we needed and recommended the Blue Moon restaurant where we had a delicious lamb curry dinner before going back to beds warmed by electic blankets. It was difficult to get the wood stove going to warm the rooms but overall we had a good nights rest and can recommend Raka.

I loved the fact that we had an inside and outside braai, a fire pit outside and fireplace inside. The kitchen also has a Cole stove, so will definitely not get cold in the winter. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was spacious with a big shower. There is a carport for your vehicle. We had a lovely stay. N/A

Great quite & big place with super lovely garden and enough space also two Braai options, inside and outside. Just around the corner from the main road. Very clean and with a good sense for "design" and all things in the kitchen for your needs.

• Abre (9/5): Superb stay! - Great location. An authentic Karoo house. Loved it. I know that traditionally Karoo houses did not have any heating. It could be an idea to install some sort of heating on top of the fireplaces for those freezing winter days and nights.
