Guest Reviews
- Morongoe (1/5): Horror - Animals only The roads, the room, linen, beds
- nala (10/5): - The whole place environment Nothing
- Letlhogonolo (4/5): Fair - It's a quiet place The service was poor, our bathroom had spiders and was never cleaned during our stay. We asked for a mop to clean for ourselves but the cleaning lady just looked at us like we were crazy, only to ask us on Sunday morning towards checkout if our bathroom needs cleaning.
- Janine Du Triou (6/5): Quaint and peaceful place to enjoy nature - The peace and quiet of the bush, the owners were very accommodating in making us coffee when we forgot to go to the shop before arrival. The ablution toilet could have a better flushing system. Don't forget bug spray there is a lot of mosquitos.
- Jaco (8/5): - Traquility Nithing
- Leon (6/5): - Theo, the manager of the lodge went out of his way to assist me when I got stuck in the mud, on the gravel road. Driving a Toyota corolla on the dirt roads that was recently flooded did not end well. Thank you Theo for your friendliness and assistance to recover my vehicle. Much appreciated. During the rainy season, certain parts of the road is very muddy and the turf surface is slick and can pose a problem when driving a sedan vehicle that is fairly low. Even when the road is dry, the turf leaves deep track marks that makes it very difficult to drive considering the wet marsh areas on the sides of the road.
- Ramogotlho Jeanette (10/5): -
- Maubane (9/5): - The quietness there and peace
- Serage (6/5): - Animals in the farm hot water every morning The is no TV
- Pam (9/5): - Beautiful location and staff are accommodating The road is bad.
- Ndivho (8/5): - The quietness, seeing the animals and the hiking path Cold shower, the bathroom
- Adrian (8/5): -
- BlueRainger (8/5): - Did not have breakfast. There was a power failure.
- Kobus (7/5): Very satisfying -
- Mpho (6/5): - Value for money
- Motladile Tsholofelo Lea Mogashoa (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The other cabin had a bad smell, seemed like they didn't change the linen. Other than that, everything was exceptional
- Khobane (5/5): - Peaceful Bed wasn't comfortable, old beds, no mosquito nets,
- Bence (2/5): Nice animals, but serious access issues and lack of support resulted in a very stressful stay - I loved the animals on the property. Seeing them around was the only positive aspect of the stay. The road conditions to the facility are extremely poor and not accessible with a normal vehicle, especially in rainy conditions. Despite the staff indicating that many previous guests had become stuck in the mud, no effort was made to inform us of the severe road conditions before arrival.
While returning to the facility, we became stuck in the mud and were informed by staff that they did not know what to do, as they had no diesel to assist with recovery. The impression was that we would be left stranded overnight. The only response we received was that they were unsure whether they could find someone to help. We were later told that a bakkie had been sent to assist us, but it also became stuck.
Our vehicle was eventually recovered by a good Samaritan, during which the car sustained damage. Due to the conditions, we were unable to reach the accommodation and had to find alternative lodging elsewhere, leaving our personal belongings behind. The staff did assist in retrieving our belongings and took them to a friend to send back to us, which we appreciate.
Additionally, the bed was very uncomfortable, and the facility lacks basic utensils such as braai tongs, dishwashing liquid, and washcloths. There was no double plug for the fan; although the manager offered to loan one, this should be standard. Electricity also kept tripping during our stay.
- Ledile (8/5): - Theo's service was exceptional,he was really helpful and was always available 1.Showers were not in good condition
2.Electricity tripping
3.Aircons not working
4.Toilets not in good condition and not clean
5.The lapa is not worth the money charged
- Guest (7/5): It was so refreshing and enjoyable,I enjoyed the farm life from that stay - The stuff was amazing from the time we got there, especially mr Theo Found ants on the bed and they kept falling even during the nights, but they explained that they doomed the place hence the ants are still falling off.so we understood and that didn’t take away the fact that if i wer to go back i would do so
- Tshegofatso (2/5): - Th pool The bed, it smelled weird and the bedding was dirty
- Ronald Leach (10/5): A piece of heaven on earth - We were involved in an accident on our way to the accommodation and expected to be very late, the way in which the owner contacted us when he saw we are running late, his compassion and support was not just greatly appreciated, it did not just make us feel valued, it made us feel like FAMILY Perfection
- Tumisho (3/5): - The 6 Sleeper 3 bedroom facility is not clean and not comfortable
- peter (8/5): -
- Somo (10/5): Bush camp experience with alot of peace of mind - Theo the care taker...what a sense of humor
Miss him already None

- Louise (3/5): Not my tipe of stay ever - Not my tipe The gravel road towards the place. When it rained we got stuck luckily there were other cars stuck aswell, we had to push the cars about 1km out of the mud
- Joubert (1/5): Bad stay and non trust worth host - Please call,i stayed one night and was not happy with accomodation and told manager i was not going to stay they must refund me for onther nights and was told that Booking.com must refund me and will find out if they would,The manager Theo phoned me back later and said that Booking.com will refund me but without the commition and i responde that i need my full payment for the two nights and he replied that he will find out about that,he said booking.com will pay me back in two to three days,i left Grootgeluk on the morning of second April and did follow up today 06/04/25,he send me a receit from card mashine that states that te transaction was declined and that booking.com sent him this, the receit was for a B&B in Pretoria and he said onder my name it was declined,i payed online direct to Booking.com,so i am not happy, the bed had lizzards inside and room and batheroom was not clean. Please contact me Mr V Joubert so we can resolve this.
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lirisa (1/5): Will not stay here again 😞 - The road was terrible, definitely not reachable with a car, especially in the rain. The place was VERY DIRTY, the beds were uncomfortable.... We will not be booking here again 😔
- Lenie (10/5): Loved my stay there. - I loved the serenity of the place and friendliness of the staff. Loadshedding
- Pieterse (8/5): Great! - We felt welcomed and well looked after. n/a
- Etienne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tommy (1/5): Bad -
- Dercksen (2/5): Very poor - Very nice location Very uncomfortable bed Can't sleep on them
- Liza-mari (4/5): Has alot of potential but was disappointing. - We enjoyed the quiet. Saw Giraffes, Zebras, Ostriches, Quinea fowl, Cattle and Sheep at the log cabin, and on the trails. The staff were warm and friendly. If you want a rustic bare minimum stay that is self-catering, with no expectations, then this would be okay. The walls inside were dirty, bedding stained and uncomfortable beds, wholes in the floor from termites, dirty shower, and bathroom. Hardly any basic essential cutlery and crockery. Everything is falling apart. Beds were very uncomfortable. Everything smells moldy and dirty.
- Inno (9/5): Superb - Marinus and his endless stories. He give us a good company. So energized...Mr ' I don't get tired, i love danger" The kitchen need bowls and new pots. In our unit, the toilet and Bathroom shower need some tlc
- Ayankies (8/5): Very good - The place is tranquil. You can do different activities. It was fun. The carpet was a bit dusty, but it's understandable. Bathroom could be a bit more cleaner.
- Morne (8/5): Very good - Was a very relaxed quiet time in the Bushveld.
- Malcolm (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joey (5/5): Very nice place but need some TLC and maintenance done. - Friendly staff, Very nice place but need some TLC and maintenance done. Toilets outside, bathroom showers you need to make fire for hot water.
The place we've stayed was not cleaned well. The kettle was not working. The place didn't have all the kitchen accessories.
- Khuthadzo (10/5): Breath of fresh air - I loved that the place is safe and child friendly, our girls also saw giraffes in the morning they where very happy about that Nothing
- Hege (1/5): Bad -
- Engela (7/5): A lovely breakaway weekend with friends - It is an ideal weekend with friends, not too far from Pretoria We enjoyed the stay...the cottages needs some maintenance
- Banda (7/5): Good -
- Gross (7/5): The vicinity was very nice and loved the quietness and peacefulness of the bush camp. - The quiet atmosphere and the fact that we enjoyed preparing food for ourselves. Although the room we booked into was not the one we stayed in the room was not clean and had to do it ourselves. The bedding wasn't clean (dusty and had some dead insects).
- Harrison (7/5): Good -
- Sibusiso (1/5): Bad - Proper place to unwind and the staff was welcoming Firstly we got charged R200 extra for checking in late. There was no electricity for the whole weekend. I feel like they could have atleast prepared us and provided us with fireworks or someone.
- Mohau (9/5): Superb -
- Ramohale (8/5): coloured Gantt chart - THE FACILITIES WERE GREAT, THE POOL AND CHILDREN PLAY SAFELY. THE ANIMALS (GAMES) WERE NOT ENOUGH
- Van (1/5): Poor poor poor - Theo was great but left The whole setup from management to conditions very poor how can a manager have a fist fight Infront of guests same person shouts about dogs but advertised pet friendly advertised 4 star maybe 40 years ago ,no value very poor site for you to advertise I think I will use Algoda or last minute .com for next trip site can't be trusted.
- John (3/5): Great lodge, good location but needs to maintained better. - I think the lodge is really great. Not too far from Gauteng and the road is not too bad to get there. Nice animal's to see that roam freely and its really a great bush destination. staff are friendly and helpful especially Theo and we loved the swimming pool. But.... the place is definitely not maintained. Looks like no money is being spent on upkeep. Our chalet was laterally falling apart. Floor boards rotten and cracked and when you took a shower the water would run through the floor boards to the bottom of the chalet. And the balcony wood is either broken or rotten. If you sat on the toilet, the toilet would tilt as the floorboards under it was rotten. the kitchen barely had any utensils and cutlery in even though its seen as self catering. When we asked about it, we were told that people steal the things. Surely it must be replaced ? We had to buy things to use in the kitchen like plastic containers and glasses. Rather tell people to bring stuff for the kitchen and not list it as self catering.
Aircon was also broken and we were given a fan that made so much noise we could not keep it on at night.
We had a 3 year old with us and there were 2 wasp nests and a massive bee nest at our chalet. One on our balcony. we mentioned it and they just said its on their to do list and they did ask someone to come out. what if we were attacked by them ?
also it seems as there we animosity between staff and the owners as there were constant arguing and everyone at the pool could hear it.
I would stay there again if its better maintained as the location is really nice.
I really hope the owners see this and start looking after their place better.
- Moleke (9/5): Superb - The location and how they treated us is a quiet place to chill out They didn't provide us with password for WiFi
- Pieter (7/5): Good -
- Dinah (7/5): Good - The warm welcome we got from the staff. They were super friendly. They gave us our privacy. My kids got to see the animals . I wish they had light near their family cabins,it was super dark at night. The pool was dirty so we couldn't swim.
- Lee.masepe (2/5): Very poor -
- Venter (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff
- Sandile (7/5): The stay was good, It was refreshing begin away from the city and being in nature. - The location beautiful, refreshing and easy on the body and mind, Very peaceful. The Animals were nice to see and seeing my child around them was priceless. The staff were great hosts very friendly and attentive to guests, The nature and weather were good. The showers and bathrooms need work to be done on them, The bush houses structures need to be renewed. The swimming pool was the big disappointment, Does not look like anything on the pictures.
- Connie (1/5): Bad - Nothing The treatment by managers was off
- Boreledi (10/5): Exceptional - Everything.
The owners are very nice people who always check up on you. Thier son our hiking guide guy is very experienced and well educated on all the animals and he has a very good sense of humor. That I had to leave
- Ulli (8/5): Very good - The place was very nice, peacefull and quiet. The hosts are very friendly It should be mentioned that you need a high clearance vehicle. Lucky we had one.
- Hilda (10/5): It was lovely - We had a lovely peaceful stay. Thank you
- Mariaan (3/5): Grootgeluk Bush Camp disaster - The peace and quiet False advertising. Facilities does not look at all like the picture. Road to bush camp was horrible. Gave us directions long way around even though there was another gate. Lost my number plate on the road there. Oven was dirty. All the cups and plates were dirty. We had to take our own towels and extra blankets. Was told that we can do a wild farm trip that wasn't true (the bakkie was broken). Only found out day after arrival. I believe this accommodation needs to be flagged with a horrible rating. Didnt complete the stay left a day earlier because we couldnt stand the cold and the accommodation and facilities. We will be complaining on all social platforms. Absolutely disappointed.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional -

- Martinique (5/5): Passable -
- Gontse (8/5): It was good. - The kids enjoyed the pool. The garden was so peaceful and beautiful. There was nothing else to do there. No play area or other activities to do outside or within the place.
- Cazlin (9/5): Superb -
- Nonny.nos (9/5): Superb -
- Russel (8/5): Enjoyed the stay. Staff, management attentive to your needs. Loved the farm/bush atmosphere. - The chalet was great, very good braai facilities.
The pool was excellent. It was clean and really inviting.
Staff went out of their way to please.
Small issues but immediately rectified by staff.
Enjoyed the area. Enjoyed the walks in bush. The road to the venue after rain was bad, but out of their control.
Needed cushions for outside seating area. Management took note of this on leaving.
- Lesego (9/5): Superb -
- Menzi (7/5): Good - It was a peaceful place and we did relax The roads need serious work. Leaving all guests got stuck on the mud roads for about an Hour
Improve the Network Service as the phones had no network
A few extra things are needed in the kitchen like dishwashing liquid etc
- De (1/5): Very bad and a waist of time and money. - It was nice and relaxing for the first night. When we got there Wi-fi was out when it got fixed still was on and off the entire time.
The cabin was falling apart. Our basin in the kitchen kept falling out of the wall every time we opened the tap. Our shower was leaking water and the entire floor was wet. Had the power go on and off the whole weekend, they only put the generator on at night for two hours. The place is pet friendly and they have their pets running around. We kept our dog with us so that she doesn’t disturb anybody else there on holiday. Their dog keeps on coming to our cabin begging for food and peeing on the boma and eating the food off of it. Their dog also tried biting our dog when It got too close. If you want a pet-friendly place then I think your animals should be used to other animals and better behaved.
The roads are so bad and unkept that on our way there we kept on sliding in the mud and while we were there on Friday alone three cars got stuck. On Thursday they had to call a towing company to come and get another guest's car they got damaged on their roads after it got stuck.
The wildlife they advertise is not even their wildlife. So the previous night it rained and the other two roads were so bad we couldn't drive on them. They arranged with the farmer across from them for us to go through their road to get back into town. We were 10 cars in total including two of the camp vehicles there to show us the way through and to assist if we got stuck.
The road is so bad and slippery that we got stuck along with two other cars, The land ranger (Game drive vehicle) came to “help” us get out. As they tried to go past us they collided with our car and pushed us forward before stopping.
When we asked for the driver's license and name we found out that he doesn't have one and the car is not road worthy. We messaged the owner of the camp to get his insurance information and he just ignored us.
- Marius (6/5): Pleasant -
