Guest Reviews

- Ursula (8/5): Comfortable and pleasant stay - The bed and room itself were very comfortable and look exactly like the photos. The river and surrounding mountains are really beautiful. Gregorio was friendly and helpful and gave us recommendations for local restaurants. Baristas and the grocery store cashier were very friendly and spoke English. A couple of elder men in town engaged with us and thanks to my limited Italian, they shared information about themselves and Popoli history. A neighbor even came over and helped with a minor issue. The description didn't mention a washing machine but they had one, which was a pleasant surprise. Those experiences made for a comfortable and pleasant stay. The description clearly states there is no internet but our hot spot wouldn't work either. The description says there is outdoor dining but there wasn't any. The description also says there are views of the river/mountains but I have come to realize in Italy that means in the area, not from the apartment/room. There is only one window to the outside and that is in the bathroom above eye level. A train track built atop a wall separates the apartment from the river but the trains are short and don't run at night so it didn't disturb us. When looking for the apartment, follow the photos on Booking.com and look for the sign pointing to Abruzzo B & B La Grotta towards the archway under the train tracks. That is it even though it is called Mono on Booking.com. It took us a little while to figure this out.
