Guest Reviews
- James (10/5): Amazing - Very clean modern and Homelea parking and location perfect. Nothing everything was fantastic
- Claire (9/5): - Lovely location, everything as described.
- Canebabe (8/5): - Very good location, central to many of the places to which we traveled (Kent. Dover, Canterbury, Rye.) The host very considerately provided a nice welcome basket consisting of fruit (bananas, apples, tangerines), packages of cookies/crackers, a loaf of bread, and a small bottle of milk. Dishes and cookware were also plentiful. Located right on the Medway River, it was also very convenient for niice morning walks. We had a difficult time figuring out how to get hot water (the water heater was on a timer), and the television set turned on all by itself at 2:30 in the morning (so we unplugged it.) While we'd planned to use the laundry facilities, we weren't able to find the laundry detergent. Just nit-picky little things.
Totul a depășit așteptările noastre inițiale. Sincer, totul a fost perfect. Poate doar faptul că a trebuit să plecăm la finalul sejurului! Gazdele s-au gândit la fiecare detaliu pentru a asigura un confort maxim.
- GARY (7/5): Great stay, great location, house needs a fair bit of TLC - Location Lovely house, but needs a fair bit of TLC, was not particularly clean, garden needs a makeover,as does the kitchen and bathroom, needs up dating.
- Michael (10/5): - “Really enjoyed our stay! The house was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Great location and easy check-in. Would definitely stay again.”
- Karen (8/5): Would stay here again :) - Great location, quiet with good parking.
Fantastic views and made for an all round great stay.
Plenty of space for our little family and the kids enjoyed the fully enclosed back garden. Was nice to have a safe space they could get some fresh air.
Kids slept well while we were there.
And it was a great bonus to me to find a long lost loved recipe in the old st Michael’s cookbook in the dining room. Bit annoyed that check in info wasn’t received until at the property, after 10 hours on the road and having sent 3 separate messages and trying to call several times. Seemed clear info was only sent once the ring doorbell picked up I was at the door.
Floor upstairs is quite creaky but that’s a really
Minor gripe.
- Sebastian (10/5): Great stay close to the nature - The location is amazing, very peaceful and surrounded by nature. The house is very nice, well equipped and the treats we found at check in were much appreciated
- Emma (9/5): - A lovely quiet location, we paid extra for a travel cot and were also left a high chair and baby plate & cup, which was greatly appreciated. We were a bit concerned with the glass coffee tables with a toddler in tow, but everything else was great.
- Clarkson (9/5): - Everything we required was provided in the rental price XD Creaking floors upstairs
- David (8/5): Overall great location would book again - Convenient location. Tucked away from the busy traffic Noisy/squeaky floor night time bathroom trips disturbed everyone the toe stubbing table feet in living room Fussy decor ?
- Adam (10/5): -
- Kathleen (10/5): - Perfect location. Lovely warm home throughout. Welcome pack such a thortful touch. Reassuring to know that our host was available should we have needed any assistance.
- Richard (10/5): Home from home - Real home from home. Everything you could possibly need is here. Nothing
- Barry (3/5): Place tired and messy with artificial flowers and trinkets. Poor lounge lighting. Lack of hot water - No hot water for three days
- David (10/5): - location, comfortable and quiet. Kitchen was fully functional and had everything.
- Tina Rodger (1/5): Not the memories we wanted as a family - Location of the property was only 10 minutes drive to our daughter’s wedding venue.
Nice gesture from hosts to receive milk, bread, apple pies and fresh fruit on arrival. The house was absolutely filthy, the smell of dust hit you once you walked through the door. We had to vacuum the whole of the house floors and ceiling's, using a totally inadequate vacuum cleaner. Everywhere you looked you could see dust, it hasn’t been cleaned for year’s. Lounge mirror was dusty and behind it cobwebs galore. Kitchen cupboards had spider webs and their occupants with them. Far too much crockery which required washing up before we could use it. Dining room rug looked like it hasn’t been hoovered or cleaned in year’s. Beds so uncomfortable, bedding and towels didn’t smell fresh, all of which need replacing.
Bathroom needs updating, hairs in bath and plug needed unblocking before we could use it. The toilet brush was disgusting.
The whole of this property inside needs to be gutted. Sofa’s, beds, mattresses, carpets, curtains and blinds all need replacing.
Window and door fittings are mostly broken.
The whole property looks like a student let both inside and outside.
- Daniel (7/5): Good location and price but a little tired. - Nice quiet location, backing onto the river path, parking is a bonus. 10 min walk into town centre.
Well priced property for the location.
Well stocked with things you might need during your stay. Unfortunately the property is rather tired inside, it seems to have reached that point where a bit of investment is needed, bit of a tidy up in the kitchen, bathroom and a deep clean throughout.
There are lots of really squeaky floor boards especially at the top of the stairs which was not ideal when the kids were in bed as it’s extremely loud.
With a quick overhaul and easy jobs done the place could be top tier.
We only really used it as a base so not major issue for us.
- Siobhan (10/5): Perfect location, peaceful, onsite parking and beautiful property- we’ll be returning to this property again in the near - A lovely, well maintained property in a beautiful part of Maidstone. Peaceful surroundings, on site parking and a great walk into the city centre via the riverside. Property owners were super responsive and helpful. We will be returning again soon! There wasn’t one thing that we could fault.
- Satjanand (9/5): Great place to escape the massiveness of London, yet be just one trainride away. - A very cosy, unhasting atmosphere. Quiet neighbourhood, lovely garden. We would have expected the bathroom to be more accomodated for a family of three. Nonetheless everything was available.
- Tina (8/5): Very nice place, reasonable price until you add on £100 dog charge for 2 tiny dogs that don’t moult - Great location, fully equipped, spacious The £100 dog charge
- Edward (5/5): Adequate - Good location for river walks and visiting many attractions
Welcome pack was appreciated The house, not a cottage, was superficially clean. The property is tired and run down. Needs total upgrade. The front door latch was frustrating. There is no fire escape on the first floor. The bedrooms were small and cramped but beds were clean and comfortable. The wardrobes were cluttered so very little storage in 2 of the bedrooms. Only one towel per couple put out! Windows were filthy. The bath surround and shower door had lots of black marks. The shower head needs fixing but otherwise the shower was good. The lounge was lacking in comfortable seating. The large heavy mirror above the fireplace was not securely fixed. Most of the multi bulb light fittings only had one bulb working and were dusty.
The kitchen was grimy. Had to wash most things before use. The oven was dirty and smoked when I first put it on. Neither of the shelves fitted properly and as I was taking a hot dish out of the oven the shelf collapsed!Oven gloves and tea towel were not clean. Coffee maker did not work properly. Shortage of ordinary glasses. The rug in dining room dirty.
With a little TLC the garden could be a pleasant area. Inside and out was cluttered with tired looking artificial plants and flowers which, in my opinion did nothing to enhance the property.
In all it didn’t spoil our visit to the area but wouldn’t rebook unless a lot of improvements were made.
- Sonia (8/5): -
- Saskia (8/5): Prima verblijf om London te kunnen bezoeken. - Aparte eetkamer en locatie aan het water. Ook stonden er een paar basis boodschappen klaar Geen vaatwasser
- Chelsea (9/5): Short and sweet stay - The property was in a lovely location, spacious and comfortable. As a 2 night stop off before further travels it felt like a home away from home. The hosts very graciously left us some provisions which were greatly appreciated. The property itself was clean, tidy and homely. The hosts were happy to answer any questions and were kind and courteous.Fully recommend. Despite instructions hubby did struggle with the safety door 😂
- taylor (10/5): -
- Judith (7/5): Pleasant stay in ideal location - Ideal location near to M20 for exploring a variety of areas in Kent. Also good to be able to walk along the river right from the property - lovely and peaceful. Comfortable beds - ideal for our group to have two double rooms as we were travelling as two couples. Parking available outside the property. Living room and separate dining area. Access to back garden. Excellent value for money. The kitchen and bathroom would benefit from slightly more attention to cleanliness and perhaps this would be aided by slightly less clutter making it easier to check everything was clean between guests. For example, the coffee machine needed cleaning before we could use it but there were numerous other appliances including a bread maker which we didn't feel were particularly necessary.
- Mark (9/5): Lovely location- just a couple of improvements would make it perfect - Location was great right next to the river. Nice enclosed rear garden. Quiet and clean Kitchen was a bit dated. Front door lock was difficult to use at one point I thought I was locked out.
- Gary (8/5): Great value, good location, helpful hosts - The property is well equipped, with some nice welcome goodies on arrival, ie, bread, milk, butter, fruit, teas and coffee, nice touch 👍, 15 minute walk into town, loads of bars and restaurants, about £5 taxi fare back to the house, The house was well presented with decent size bedrooms. Garden could do with a bit of TLC
- Kirk (10/5): Exceptional - Well stocked kitchen, spacious home
- Lyudmila (7/5): Great location, but the house is so uncomfortable and old. Dont think we would line to comeback to this property - I have to admit, this was our second time coming to the this property, just for the location of where it is. It is right on the river side and makes it absolutely unforgettable memories with all the greenery around. Amazing place for taking brake from the busy city. Whilst u have to mention that property it self is so outdated and needs a lot of improvement. Beds are absolutely uncomfortable! So old and outdated. There is no way anyone can have a comfortable sleep. Bedsheets didn’t smell fresh and bathroom mats were wet when we arrived. Kitchen facilities aren’t good in a case someone plans to cook. Dust is everywhere, and downstairs sofa pillows havnt been washed for ages. Those artificial flowers everywhere is additional dust collectors and don’t really bring any touch to the place. Shower mat doesn’t make us feel clean and bathroom In general wasn’t in a great condition.
Garden area isn’t great. There is a table for 6 people but no umbrella like it was last year. Basically they just dumped the old table and old umbrella to the corner of their garden. The bench in the garden is rotten, so Jo one can seat on it. The artificial grass area was so dirty that I have to wear my shoes to walk around. Really gross Very old and outdated. Beds are so uncomfortable that impossible to sleep. You can feel every spiral of the mattress. Everything is so dusty inside. Bedsheets didn’t smell fresh. Downstairs sofa pillows and cover have never been washed. Coffee table legs are so dangerous that u can easily harm your leg. I won’t suggest anyone with young children to go there. In general this property need some renovation big time!
- Joanne (8/5): 8 out 10 and room for improvement - It in a nice quite street, and the owner left us fresh fruit & bread, it’s very spacious however I did feel the beds were too big for the room that they were in. The front door lock was frustrating, but eventually we got the nack also there were creeking floor broads which made it hard to move around on the 1st floor.
- Sebastian (10/5): Perfect stay, nice house and perfect location - Location N/a
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - lovely house . all things needed for a few days away. nothing
- Marco (9/5): Superb - Very nice place, brilliant location and easy to communicate with host
- Donna (1/5): Disgusting!! We left after 30 minutes. - Do not book this property!!
We arrived for a 4 night booking and left after 30 minutes. On first sight things looked ok but then we opened cupboards and draws and everything was filthy. Dirty cutlery, pots, discarded slippers, dirty bathroom and fridge, open packets of food. It is nothing like the pictures, they must have been taken some time ago. The garden was also a mess. We contacted the property to advise we could not stay due to the filth and they responded only to say that it had been cleaned and checked. I can only assume we have very different standards, personally we were not comfortable staying somewhere that looked and felt like the sitting tenants had just popped out and would be back any minute. Even booking.com tried to contact them on our behalf and was told the same. In summary, the property is unhygienic and the owners are dishonest.
- Dale (8/5): Very good -
- Dale (9/5): Superb -
- Anne-marie (8/5): Very good -
- Jenya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anwara (10/5): A very beautiful peaceful stay . - It is a cute property tucked away in its own privacy I loved my stay 🙏💯will come back here again . Had beautiful moments . The central heating system is a bit tricky we were few times cold as it would not come on but loved the stay .
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and spacious, very clean and great to have parking available
- Heidi (10/5): Riverside was perfect for us to escape our house where our bathrooms were being renovated. it is in a great location , c - it was a home away from home and had everything we needed as a family. Lovely 3 bed house with lovely views over the river.
- Anu (8/5): Very good - The house was decorated for Christmas (with a Christmas tree!). The table was set out nicely, even with Christmas crackers. There was a generous fruit basket and food in the fridge (bread, milk and eggs). We felt warmly welcomed! Only minor - just one bathroom and toilet for 5ppl, which was a little tricky
- Michael (3/5): Poor -
- Andrew (5/5): . Wouldn’t book again unless it was refurbished to a good degree - Nice location by the river. Photos of the property make it look good. Lovely welcome pack of goods on arrival, shame there was no margarine/butter for bread. Poor decoration throughout, rather slap dash, no welcome folder detailing use of tv, white goods, local amenities etc. broken toilet and difficulty contacting vendor to get it sorted. Messy wardrobes. Bed mattresses need replacing, sagging in middle. Bed sheets were inside out on all beds as well as duvets upside down on beds. Pillows were flat.
Small low and soft settee in lounge only suitable for three people at best. Plus two chairs not suitable for comfortable long sitting on.
Kitchen drawers were full of all sorts of stuff, some of it quite unclean. No uniformity of crockery in cupboards
Parking at the property was awkward due to small parking area out front the hedges and posts.
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house nice location very quiet The shower needs upgrading
- Everlyn (10/5): Exceptional - The location. It was a good base to get to places we wanted to visit. It was comfortable and easy to communicate with the hosts. Nothing
- Karen (5/5): Was ok but the tap needs fixing, vacuum cleaner and microwave need looking at. - Loved the location, very quiet residential area. Could see the river from upstairs front bedroom and all the palm trees in the cul de sac made it feel tropical. Lots of goodies provided as welcome pack. The artifical turf in garden was good for the dog and the garden felt private and compact. Was on edge all the time with the amount of glass furniture around. The sofa was very low and not comfortable. Could'nt get microwave to work or the vacuum cleaner. The tap was loose.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Home from home! It was a very nice touch, leaving orange juice, milk, bread, wine etc-Thank you - Very comfortable and clean.Had everything we needed!
- Karen (8/5): Could of been better - Basic provisions provided for cleaning washing and also basics condiments with milk sugar tea coffee bread ( shame no butter) and some fruit was very grateful for this. Beds were very comfortable. Private slightly away from the road and next to river. Modern Dead fly and spider on lounge floor dead wasp at the bottom of the stair (which I cleared up) also when booking it said dogs ok to stay and included in the price but to advise. On doing this I was told a charge of £50 would apply and they changed it on the website but I had already had a screenshot but could not add to their comms. So was not impressed with this also ignored it when I questioned it. Shower either freezing or taking your skin off. So many plastic plants and flowers and lounge light very bright softer bulb or dimmer switch could help this.
- Wassim (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Paul B - Lovely house very nice location definitely recommend Nothing to write here
- Justin (9/5): Comfortable , home from home. - Nice house, spacious with comfortable beds. Good location. Welcome gift, of some provisions, was a nice touch. We had a lovely stay.
- Owen (9/5): Wedding - NA NA
- Hnatkiwskyj (8/5): Very good -
- Ad (10/5): We loved it. - Nice typical English cosy house. Well stocked when we arrived. Great they suprice us whit some first basic food. Thats so nice after a long travel. Great place to walk to the nearby pub or town 25. Min. We loved it. We be back when we visit Kent. Atmosfeer, cleanness.
- Ben (8/5): Waking up to no sound but the birdsong was lovely. - Location was just right. Needed quiet, but with easy access to town. This was spot on. All good
- Daniel (9/5): The location was great. The host left a few goodies in the fridge that was much appreciated. -
- Joanne (5/5): If you require comfort, don’t stay here - Nice location, well equipped kitchen, provisions supplied as well as bathroom toiletries Beds were awful. King size sagged in the middle so my Husband and I were rolling into each other plus very little room to walk around bed, banging shins on bed corners. Slept in separate rooms and this was a booking to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!!!
Also, within seconds of arrival I was hit with a £100 request from owner for taking our 2 dogs, one small, one no bigger than a rabbit! Nowhere on the booking form was I asked if I was taking dogs. The house advertises dogs allowed so I had no clue I had to pay another £100 for them! Had I known I would have booked a house that didn’t charge for pets so 2 days away, apart from being very uncomfortable, was also VERY expensive.
The L shaped sofa is very low. We are a couple in our late 50’s, who were yelping and shrieking every time we stood up.
This was the worst home we’ve ever stayed in comfort wise and will not be returning.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): What a little gem hidden away on the riverside. I’ll definitely be coming back to stay. Beautiful house - Everything it was a beautiful place Nothing
- Rhea' (7/5): A home a way from home - I loved the decor and then open space in the kitchen. So many cute little details, tissues in the bedrooms. Grateful for the extra bedding in the rooms. The house was in a really nice area near the lake. Loved that there was a smart TV! It was quite cold when we arrived and we would of like clearer instructions on how to adjust the heat. There is only 1 bathroom so wouldn’t be best for bigger families but it worked okay for us.
- Sebastien (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (10/5): Lovely stay in well appointed & comfortable home. Highly recommend. - Beautifully presented home. Very neat & clean. Ample storage space. Comfortable beds. Ample room for our family of four. Host provided a welcome pack which catered for our breakfast needs for the entirety of our stay. All necessary amenities provided. Host very responsive and helpful.
Restaurants/pubs close by. Lovely walk along Medway just near home.
Excellent location for exploring Kent/Sussex Nothing.
- David (10/5): Really enjoyed our time in this very comfortable, quiet and wonderfully located house. Hosts were so helpful and attenti - Great location - right by the river with a beautiful walking path. Lovely view from the main bedroom over the river Nothing
- Kim (4/5): Disappointing.. - Nice layout, good location, secure garden for dogs. I don’t know how to politely say the property needs a Really deep clean.. (we bought plastic cutlery to use)
The kettle needs replacing due to extreme limescale.
A curtain or blind in the bathroom is needed for some privacy, and the extraction fan didn’t work.
- Mathew (5/5): Good value for money and a great location but in need of some TLC - The location was excellent and good value for money The property I would say could do with a little TLC and some contents replacing. For example the beds were not comfortable or stable. There were cupboard doors hanging off in the kitchen. There was dog faeces in the garden, fortunately we didn’t need to use the garden.
- Edward (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rebecca (10/5): Absolutely loved it, we will be back - Beautiful location. Very clean house. Little extras left for us were a nice touch - bread, milk etc Creaky floor boards were a pain upstairs on the landing...very loud if someone got up to go loo in middle of night!
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Portia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joannah (8/5): UK visit to see family with dog. - The location was quiet and right by the river which was great for dog walking. Parking spaces for two cars. Plenty of hot water on tap and all you need in the kitchen department. House was clean and warm and easy to adjust when temperature dipped. It rained everyday we were there so having the availability of a tumble dryer was great. A thoughtful touch to provide essentials by the owner. The small garden was key for a dog to be let out in. Having astro turf meant very little mess when coming in and out. Plenty of cleaning materials under the stairs if you wanted. Riverside is easy to find and the instructions to access the house were given on day of arrival. Bathroom with electric shower and separate hand held piece and toiletries if desired. It's nice to find somewhere that takes dogs and be of a good standard.A comfortable stay. Thank you. Beds and sofa although comfortable are quite low for those with knee issues or limited mobility to get out of. There are two other kinds of chair that could be used though.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good value for money and suited our purposes - Good location. Easy to walk into town. Close to motorways. Nice welcome back. Tea coffee and basic spices left good choice of toiletries. Few cobwebs. Couple of cracked windows. Too cluttered in wardrobes so hanging space restricted. Lots of equipment in kitchen - excess in some types and lacking in others
- Butler (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great stay at the house owner was very helpful very clean and in nice quiet position thanks for a great stay will be back Nothing
- Raquel (10/5): I would rent it again! - Amazing stay. I can highly recommend it if you want to visit Kent and London and stay close to the sea. In real life, the house looks even more beautiful than in the photos! I felt like being at home. Thanks for everything Riverside!! Everything was perfect
- Carole (7/5): Nice accommodation but needs more attention to detail - Spacious house in a quiet residential area, close to the river which was a lovely place for a walk. House was beautifully dressed and first impression was excellent. Nice to have a garden to sit in. Easy parking The shower pressure was so low it was difficult to use. Everything was provided in the kitchen but the cabinet doors were damaged, there was a strange smell, a spillage in one of the cabinets had not been cleaned up and the mugs left for us on the tray were dirty. The whole house looks like it has had a rushed paint job with no care taken. Such a shame because the house could be so nice,
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect for our stay. Lovely house. Decor perfect and everything that we needed.
- Bonno (9/5): Superb - Quiet. Lots of space. The bathroom could use an update.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoinette (9/5): Nice - The house can be used as a base to visit London, Canterbury, the coast and Kent. You can walk along the river to a restaurant/ pub and to the city centre. -
- Kevin (5/5): Passable - Nice area right next to the River Medway. Easy access to the centre of Maidstone. The house is looking dated, definitely in need of some upgrading as looking very tatty in areas. If this house is cleaned by a professional company, then they really need to get their act together. Lots of the cups are stained, and some of the mismatches of cutlery stained, ridiculous TV stand in the second bedroom, making it difficult to get out of the room, especially in the dark. The garden needs a good clean-up, as do the filthy windows. It just feels dirty as a good few cobwebs around. Poorly maintained bathroom. TV is virtually impossible to use as both the TV and Amazon stick remote controls are in need of new batteries. As we run a holiday company and service holiday rental properties, this falls well short of our standards. Would not stay here again, I'm afraid.
- Adam (10/5): Exactly what we needed. - Our stay at the Riverside was perfect for what we needed. The communication with the management was really good. The house has everything we needed for our stay. And the location is great. Very quiet area right by the river. Nothing.
- John (5/5): Passable - Location was good Only one toilet in one bathroom for five people was a bit difficult. I should have read the house details more carefully.
- Sue (10/5): Weekend stay in Riverside - The property is clean and in a quiet close. The house is really nice and is like home from home.
The owners were fantastic at answering my questions prior to my stay.
I highly recommend this property.
Everything we needed was here, the bed were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.
If you want to stay somewhere close to the town centre then this property is a great choice.
I will be rebooking next year as we thoughingly enjoyed our stay.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Lyudmila (8/5): Very relaxing and comfortable, perfect place to recharge - Specious house with everything needed, in a very nice location if someone looking for a quiet relaxing holidays. Lots of greenery around, house is right on the river side Nothing
- Gary (5/5): Adequate but definitely not the best place we have stayed. A few extras goes a long way to help when you rock up at 8pm. - Location close to canal was nice We were under the impression we had canal view from the advertising but no views at all. To improve this property would be to provide a little milk / coffee and filter for coffee machine / a welcome basket / fans that work / iron and ironing board that is of good quality and usable / the lounge coffee table is dangerous don’t bring kids / decent shower and cleaner / dish cloth and more than one t-towel for 5 days.
- Jack (4/5): Not what was expected - The location was good for us, a central place to go off from.
The bed was comfortable. I believe the house needs alot TLC. Lots of dodgy fixes like clothes hook for a window handle, also on the same window the other handle had snapped.
The kitchen tap was extremely loose and when mentioned to the owner they didn't seem fussed. Also kitchen was not very well stocked, 1 saucepan and 1 frying pan both with no lids. only 2 pair's of glasses, plates and bowls where the same and meant to be able to house 6. A few of the cupboard doors were almost handing off.
The bath panel was very loose and the fitting at both ends was not sealed in properly. The floor boards are also moving around.
Some clever photos have been used in the advertisement to make the property loom better than it is.
- Ruth (8/5): quiet, peaceful stay visiting family. - we liked the peacefulness, the canal and footpath so close, the little garden, the comfy beds, the art work on the walls., the cleanliness of the place and the ice cold water machine on the fridge . nothing was bad but the garden needed attention but then I am a passionate gardener. 😃😃
