- kerstin (7/5): - very good price, comfy clean room and cute sofa with seaview on the balcony i dont like having to go dow a floor for shared bathrooms it was a nit far
- Laura (7/5): Lovely stay here, cosy bungalows, host was super welcoming to us, great location! - Owner was lovely, super welcoming to us. Great location. Cute cosy little bungalows. Bathroom was very open in the bungalows, tonnes of mosquitoes but i know that’s out of our control, could do with a bit more atmosphere going on in the main bar/ entrance area.
- Michel (6/5): - Une plongée dans les années 70. Rien n’a changé depuis ! Roots roots roots !

- Laura (10/5): A peaceful, perfectly located beachfront stay with a lovely atmosphere. - I loved how spacious and spotless the bungalow was. The location couldn’t be better, tucked away in a quiet corner of the beach so you get peace and privacy, yet very close to the village where you can find all you need. The owners are kind and welcoming. Warm, laid-back vibe that made it easy to relax. Honestly, nothing at all. Met my expectations!
- Moti (7/5): Cute beachfront property with comparatively decent pricing - It's nice to be able to tumble out of bed, walk just a few short steps, and arrive on the beachfront. I appreciated the greenery, and listening to the songbirds in the trees. I enjoyed the wooden decor vibes of the rooms. Matty, the front desk clerk, is just the sweetest. There's a sewage swamp running through the facility. In the room, the wall fan above the bed is barely adequate to cool you down, and if you leave the window open to get ventilation, your room fills with myriad mosquitoes. Any time I went to the bathroom meant getting bitten. Sitting outside means also being constantly pestered by mosquitoes.
Additionally, there is no WiFi at the property.
- Jasmine (9/5): Superb - I had a great stay at Cocohuts! Suzy was very welcoming and thank you Meggie for showing me around M'Pai Bay! The location of the hostel is amazing, directly on the beach!
- Adeline (10/5): Great stay, will come back - Everybody was awesome, the staff give good restaurant recommandation, organise activities, boat tours, Gavin at the reception gave me a little heads up via booking before I arrived for the boat company I had to take to reach Mpai bay without extra costs (buva sea or gtvc). The place is clean, gorgeous and everybody is so helpful and great. I loved my stay there so much I extended 4 more nights. It's also a good place to work if you have some work to be done, it's very chill and quiet during the day. No wifi but you can easily go nextdoor and ask for their. It doesn't reach the rooms though.
- Inaki (9/5): We loved our time at CocoHuts and can't wait to return! - The view is stunning from the porch just relaxing and looking out onto the beautiful beach. That was my favourite part of the trip. The coconuts were also the best I have ever tasted. Suzi and Miles were also so kind and helpful with great tips for the island. We would definitely return! The bathroom and room could have been a bit cleaner.
- Karolina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Péter (1/5): Bad -
- Coennn (9/5): Superb -
- Anatoliy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mia (7/5): Good -
- Luke (10/5): A hidden gem in paradise, worth every dollar and full of good people to enjoy your stay with! - The location was right on the beach. A quick walk from any amenity one may need. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, and most importantly, it was a 10 minute walk from the pristine bioluminescent plankton beach, which is paradise both during the day and at night. A true hidden gem in paradise. No negatives about the property, just ensure you have plenty of bug repellant!
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Matt and Suzi are both very friendly and welcoming guests.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - Very cute place, I felt welcome immediately!
- Beverley (8/5): Good value accommodation in a fab location - Amazing beachfront location within a small island village. Basic accommodation but great value for the price and our hut had all the main amenities. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants and bars on the beach and in the main village a few minutes walk from CocoHuts. Very welcoming staff who had extensive local knowledge. We had nothing to complain about.
- Norman (10/5): I've already been back 4 times and will return again next time I am on the beach - Location and ease of access from the pier is great with easy access to the village. The best part was the staff, Suzi and Matty
- Thorsten (5/5): Passable -
- Kenneth (4/5): Overpriced run-down, unclean shacks on a nice small beach. - The location. Wasn’t told it is a 100 metre walk across a sandy beach (with trolley luggage) from the road. Needlessly officious, dogmatic management.
- Julia (8/5): Nice place - Suzi was very friendly and lovely. She helped us a lot and the location in front of the beach is great. Water refill station and cozy common area.
- Jules (8/5): Very good - Stayed in the huts . This island is special. That's why we are looking for accom. Suzi is over nice and helpful. After staggering off the boat a cold beer was awaiting. A great team with her too.
A true jungle island experience! for sure. You will forget the day you are on early on.
But it has to be remembered you are on a jungle island ..... prepare for that. I did and stayed much longer.
The village of M'pai is a delight. It is the sole reason why you should stay there and no where else.
Beach , Sea - a whole inch away from the front of place.
Suzi and team i will return after Xmas in UK. hrmmmm what don't humans like on a jungle island . Get there and find out. Travel is about the experience and not shielding yourself from the environment so much.
- Giulia (8/5): Very good - The location The bathrooms should be more looked after as they were often dirty
- Linda (6/5): Great setting but huts could be better. - Great location and pretty setting. Friendly and helpful staff.
The hut was nice and big. The hut was quite dark and hot.
The mosquito net had a big hole in it.
The wi fi didn’t work when we were in the hut
(Reception wi fi was good).
The hut needs refurbishing.
There was loud noise from the bar next door (disco) until 11.45 on Wednesday night.
- Ibou (3/5): Poor -
- Eline (10/5): Exceptional - I had an amazing stay here and ended up staying here for 1 week. Suzie is also super friendly and helpful. And the location is perfect at the beach.
- Paula (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (8/5): Very good - Beautiful beach front hostel. Suzy and Clara were lovely. Always checking you were ok or if you needed anything. Very relaxing place.
- Erich (10/5): Exceptional - You are directly at the beach. Suzi and Matty are very kind and will help you with every matter you have. I extended my stay and would have stayed longer!
- Kilian (8/5): Very good - Very close to the beach, helpful staff Hole in the mosquito net
- Valentin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simo. (10/5): I recommend - Really nice and quiet hostel! The lady owner was very cute and helpful, she remember the name of all guests.
Big dorm and clean bathroom!!
- Pedro (9/5): Fiendly, relaxing and confy. - A modest Hostel just few minutes to all that M'pai Bay has to offer! Great location!! Very friendly and helpful staff. The bed could be beter, As It is tarting to take the U-Shape, but is me being sensible to it due to my lower back problem.
- John (9/5): Just what we needed - Tasty food, cold drink, awesome beach and super friendly staff
- Amandine (8/5): Very good - The location and the friendly vibe of the area.
- Héloïse (9/5): Superb - We had a wonderful time at CocoHuts. Very nice bungalows by the beach, quiet and comfortable. Nice and friendly staff and good place to meet people.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff. Great location Not much
- Charlie (10/5): The owner was lovely and gave us an amazing and personal experience at mpai bay. The hostel was beautiful and everything - The owner of the hostel was extremely hospitable and gave us a private tour around the island to show us beautiful rock pools that we otherwise wouldn’t have found. The hostel had an amazing location allowing us to relax and enjoy cocktails on the beach and enjoy the tranquil energy at mpai bay.
- Adina (10/5): Exceptional - I had a perfect stay here at CocoHuts. I was welcomed by Matty with some information about the island, where to go, and what to do.
The hostel has a nice chill vibe, sitting outside, relaxing, having drinks at the bar, and some fun karaoke nights. The beach is right in front of the hostel and there is a nice sunset spot 2 min walk. M’Pai Bay is a small village so you can get everywhere in just a few minutes.
I booked one night, ended up staying for two weeks.
Thank you so much for everything! I’ll see you some time in the future again!
- Rosello (7/5): Good -
- Callum (7/5): Good -
- Cailleau (9/5): Superb -
- Luis (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was comfortable, equipped with a mosquito net and a fan, there were lockers to put your stuff away, toilets were clean and water pressure was good (that's an issue on the island)
Mattie was super friendly chatty and helpful, you can go to him if you have any questions.
The hostel is located in front of the beach which is a plus
- Diego (10/5): Dreamy - Everything. This hostel is the best I’ve been in my trip so far. The location is perfect, right by the beach, you can sit down and chill with your feet touching the sand. Matty (the owner) is such a lovely person, he gave me recommendations around the island and he made me feel so comfortable, we had very nice talks. I wish I could have stayed longer there, it was definitely the highlight of my trip.
- Mélodie (7/5): Quiet and familial vibe, home on the beach. - It is just on the beach on the “far end” of the bay. Sunrise just in front of it and sunset spot at 2 min walk. Perfect location to me. Free water available and board games. Common area is big with a lot of chilling spots in the shade and in the sun. The staff is very nice, they make you feel at home and they agreed to upgrade my stay with a little private room for 10$ a night. Karaoke night was fun. The biggest thing I think of is the mosquitoes in the bathroom. So many of them that going to the toilet or taking a shower had become a mission and was giving me anxiety. The hostel is on the beach so unfortunately there will be a lot of mosquitoes BUT a little lemongrass product or mosquito repulsives in the bathrooms and dorms/rooms would help. An easy “issue” to fix. The mattresses are very old and worn out, the mosquito nets have a lot of holes in it and the hammock just outside the dorm is completely ripped in half. So just a couple little things to fix or replace.
- Jay (10/5): One of the best stays I have ever had in a hostel and I will 100% be returning on my trip - Beautiful beach view with the most caring and attentive owners who would always make sure you were ok and enjoying yourself , and of course Ollie the excellent volunteer who always makes sure everyone is out and about and enjoying the island , everyone makes sure that you enjoy the island and if you have any questions they can answer them and help you out if needs be , perfect stay That I booked my next island ahead so couldn’t stay longer
- Pauline (8/5): A litte paradise by the beach - The hostel is right by the beach and very close to the pier so it's super easy to find. You can get amazing sunset from around the corner and Suzy, Matty & Ollie are very nice and welcoming. The vibe is very relaxed and everyone is happy to give you recommendation on what to do on the island and around. The dorms are basic but comfortable - there is one fan per bed and mosquito nets so you're all set for a night on the
island. It's the perfect location to relax, soak up some sun and meet other people.
- Laura (10/5): Perfect spot! - In my opinion, the best location in M'Pai Bay. Directly on a popular but quiet beach. A few steps from the ocean. Swim 5 minutes to beautiful coral reefs. Less than 5 minute walk from the main pier and great restaurants. A social, quiet, laid-back vibe. Very nice staff who made me feel at-home. I booked three nights, but ended up extending to one week. I would definitely go back.
- Miré (10/5): Chill holiday get away with friendly staff - Amazing tips and friendly staff. Perfect location. Nice people staying . Chill and relaxed atmosphere. A little slump on the bed, made me just stretch my back in the morning.
- Lewis (8/5): Great staff, friendly environment. - Staff are super friendly and helpful, always have good recommendations. Fans are really good so don't hesitate if you're worried! Super nice location. Showers/toilets could do with modernising but I think this is more of something that the whole island lacks as opposed to this hostel.
- Daniel (10/5): Came for four nights, stayed two weeks - Suzie and Matty are awesome hosts. We felt comfortable right from the start and extended our stay several times.
The bungalow is spacious and clean.
You have hammocks, and sunbeds in the common area which is directly on the beach.
There are many restaurants in walking distance ("Bong's" was our favorite).
There is a karaoke night every saturday, which is fun.
- Enguerrand (8/5): i recommend it, worth it but be careful on the water if you’re fragile haha - good atmosphere , the fan for each bed, in the local area of the island I got sick because of the water 😣
- Dayna (10/5): Exceptional - CocoHuts is the place to be if you want to relax and unwind for a few days. It’s right on the beach and the water is calm, warm and crystal clear. The location is perfect and you couldn’t find a better spot. The staff make an effort to know the names of everyone staying and are so kind and welcoming. This was the most homely accomodation I’ve stayed in during my travels.
- Eleri (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay at Cocohuts!! M’Pai bay is a beautiful fisherman’s village that feels much more authentic than the resorts found elsewhere. The guesthouse is right on the beach & next to lots of lively bars/ restaurants. Suzi could not have been lovelier - helping us with everything & always so kind and chatty!! Special mention to Coco & Dobby her dogs too!! Thank you so much for a wonderful 3 days :)
- Hotaru (10/5): Friendliest owners and perfect location - Amazing beach front location and welcoming atmosphere. Karaoke nights and pub quizzed and the perfect place to chill during the day.
- Yana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alvin (8/5): Very good -
- The (10/5): Exceptional - You Couldn't get a better view to wake up too everyday. Staff friendly. Great just to chill and switch of your mind for a few days..
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (10/5): The location was as good as it gets. Maddy made the stay feel like you are family from the moment you set foot in the ho -
- Jack (8/5): Great stay right on the beach - Great location and Matty was a fantastic host, very welcoming and friendly.
Basic but got everything you need and really good value for money!
- Ria (10/5): We will be back! - Perfect place, right on the beach, in the best place of Cambodia. The hosts are very nice and friendly people. They make you feel at home. They organise tours, music evenings or whatever is possible. The huts are spacious, basic but arranged in a nice green setting.
We came back a second time.
- Minouche (9/5): Superb - Superb location at the beach. Rooms are spacious, and beds have mosquito nets. Friendly owner and volunteers who are very willing to help you out and give you tips where to eat. Enough space to relax and easy to meet people.
- Becky (8/5): Very good - The staff was wonderful and very helpful with getting on and off the island. They did a good job at making you feel at home.
- Lucinda (7/5): Rustic stay, great location -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed my stay at CocoHuts. The dorm bed was comfy, each bed had a much needed mosquito net, a fan and easy access to an electrical socket. Suzie and Matty made sure I enjoyed my time on the island and kept me informed on events that were happening. The whole setup is simple, but everything was very clean.
- Samuel (10/5): Amazing staff and location - The staff is really nice. The location was also great, right at the beach. I had a wonderful time here and met a lot of people
- Kondehop (10/5): Just go to Cocohuts - Best prize to quality hostel. Matty and Suzy are great and it's located right at the beach.
- Sebastien (10/5): Exceptional - The host and the location. Matty(sorry if misspelled it) was an excellent host and we had a great time with him. He had great recommendations for activities and food. Nothing
- Helen-ines (9/5): Superb - Thanks to the beautiful people running the place. You are creating a great vibe. The location is great, too. The little river that goes through the property, appearing to be an open sewer. The dormitory beds were amongst the worst I have slept in in SEA. The place had a somewhat neglected appearance.
- Jamie (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Julia (9/5): We liked the karaoke-night. - The hosts were very friendly and the bungalows were clean and well built. Good view to the beach and relaxed feeling. No wifi
- Dawn (8/5): Great price, location and friendly atmosphere - Location and staff are great Only had one night there
- Danielle (10/5): Beautiful huts beautiful island - Wonderful island, true paradise.
Loved our stay here after a busy trip travelling the rest of cambodia, lovely host. Great location, great bungalow, basic but all that you need for the stay on the island. It was quite noisey with the local bars music untill the early hours of the morning but we didn't mind too much
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zuzanna (10/5): Vibrant place with lovely bungalows and amazing staff. - Lovely bungalows, close to the beach. Very vibrant object. Suzi and Maty were very nice and helpful. The object is close to the main port. Lots of trees and wildlife around. Amazing dinner! Very close to the scuba diving and snorkeling spots. The island is beautiful and the water is very clear and clean. Lots of nice pubs and restaurants around. The village is British/Dutch, maybe not the best if you looking for Cambodian experience.
- Evelien (10/5): Fantastic, chill and friendly - Suzy and Matty are the best! So kind and great hospitality and very relaxing vibe. We had a wonderfull time and wish we could have stayed longer.
The bungalows are very cozy, basic but it has everything you need! Nothing!
- Alexspencer (9/5): Superb - Matty and Suzie were friendly and provided helpful information on the island, activities we could do and information on events happening. It was right on the beach and there was plenty of space to hang out. Not really a dislike, but need to be prepared that there will be some little critters around. Adds to the charm though.
- Elena (9/5): Superb - Basic but lovely bungalows with private bathroom
And hammock, common areas to chill, tasty breakfast and friendly staff - thank you Suzi!
- Jordi (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the Island Vibe and how easy and uncomplicated everything is ✨
M'Pai Bay is really a Gem 💎
- Aaron (10/5): Your home away from home in paradise - A great place to stay when you visit Koh Rong Sanloem. Suzi makes you feel very at home. Loved my time there ended up staying 3 weeks. Hope to return again in the future. Nothing
- Pavla (10/5): Prolonged from 2 nights to 6 nights and would happily do it again :-) - Suzie is exceptional host and eventhough I visited during low season with not many places around open, I haven't been bored for a single minute and thanks to all the amazing people around I had an absolutely amazing week long stay! <3
- Perfect location
- Suzie was very helpful recomending how to get there
- Beds with mosquito nets and fans
- Lovely dogs
Once again thank you for everything!
- J (10/5): Exceptional - First of all - incredible hospitality and super welcoming owners. The location is perfect just on the beach. Bed was comfy and room spacious. Place to come back :)
- Marvin (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely owner!
They'll help you with everything you need and invite you to various events. I came during off season which is why I had a whole dorm for myself. A homestay like experience in a local village paradise :)
- Serkan (7/5): Good - Great hospitality and hosting, you feel at home. If you are obsessed with hygiene, you may struggle
- Matthew (9/5): Superb - Suzi and Matty are great hosts. They are super friendly and will always be willing to suggest activities and things to do during you mr stay here. I would definitely stay here again if returning to M’pay Bay, no doubt.
- Laura (10/5): Small beachfront hostel for local experience - Staying for a few days at Cocohuts made me feel like I was part of the local life on the island, something that you will not get at The Cliff for example. You will meet the friends and neighbors of Suzi and her son, you will be invited for yoga classes or boat tours from the next door guesthouse, you will start to love all the sweet doggies coming to the huts… Walking distance from amazing bioluminescent plankton! I had a lovely relaxing stay and it made me fall in love with this island. At the time of my visit there were a lot of sandflies/mosquitoes. We tried to light an incense spiral stick every night before sleeping and it helped a lot.
- Boyle (8/5): Fabulous resort - I loved this place. The location is perfect. It's right on the beach with stunning views.
The staff are incredible. They are so friendly and go out of their way to make you enjoy your stay Nothing
- Marita (8/5): Very good - Very nice dorm with separate beds, each with an own fan and a mosquito net (both of which you will need). The owners are really friendly and helpful and they organise delicious dinners (cooked by a chef in-house) a couple of times a week. I would've liked a small light at each bed, perhaps. Also we kept running out of toilet apper in the shared bathroom (which I know would've been fixed promptly if we asked, but I felt a little awkward to ask).
- Misja (10/5): A piece of paradise! - Everything! The location, the vibe, Suzi & Matty who take you in like you’re part of the family. We only spent 3 days here but would’ve stayed longer if we could! Will definitely be back!
- Dikla (8/5): I recommend but it should be more clean - M'pai Bay is already a quite beach, and this hostel is in the most quite part of it. So it suits every person wanting to just rest and chill. There are sofas and pillows and tables. It's really nice. There are only 6 beds in the dorm, and good mosquito nets. Every bed has a fan (which I prefer, because there are power outages everyday and ACs are slow). The owners, mother and son, are very nice, and Matt makes very nice cocktails. Also, something you should know - a surprising tropical storm came to the island while I stayed here, and the dorm survived it perfectly. No leaks (unlike other hostels on the beach). I think the main thing that bothered me was the the level of cleanliness... This hostel is volunteer based, and has no professional staff, so nothing is really ever properly cleaned... Under and around the beds, the lockers... All quite dirty. The drains in the showers were clogged as well. Sometimes having to ask for toilet paper and hand soap... This hostel is not the cheapest in this beach, so the cleanliness should suit the price. Also be aware there is no wifi nor hot water.
- Brian (9/5): Superb - Great location, friendly owners and staff
- Remco (7/5): Basic but comfortable - The hosts were lovely, the location was very nice and the bungalow was comfortable. It’s still a bit a work in progress: a bit basic for the price we paid, smelly grey water flowing through the garden and it didn’t have the real ‘family vibe’ we felt in most small hostels.
- Darby (9/5): Recently opened beach front accommodation. - Super comfy dorm beds with individual fans and mozzie nets, good facilities all around and the mum + son host duo were lovely and very accommodating. quite, relaxed atmosphere, easy to meet other travellers and local expats.
- Brigita (8/5): Very good -
- Ava (7/5): Good - Very friendly staff and people, perfect location on the beach!
- Antoine (10/5): Exceptional -
