Guest Reviews
- timothy (10/5): - Everything was perfect
- NAZEM (10/5): True comfort to lost your bad memories while you are on your holidays, full of refreshments for next. - Schematic views, next to the hillside, back yards and flower garden corner was mind blowing. Modern holiday home with more than expected comforts with full of fun activities and furnishings. Kitchens were exceptional. At first when I put my first step I felt like their own guest, so many happiness & memories captured. Thanks. Full home and gardens, information booklets, modern facilities at home.
- Lorna (10/5): The owner Mark was faultless could not be more helpful so kind and welcoming - Wonderful location , cosy, spacious, immaculately clean property tucked away such an authentic, village experience.
Our stay was unexpected and last minute however the host prepared a beautiful welcome for us. Everything was perfect
- Dave (9/5): - The location was ideal for visiting Ambleside, Windermere etc. Facilities were excellent, everything you could possibly need. The owner contacted me a few days before arrival to provide directions and also contacted me once I had arrived, to check everything was ok, which I thought was a nice touch, rather than just receiving a generic email with instructions on. No major issues or concerns, would recommend the property. Kitchen was not really clean in areas. I'm not saying this as a negative towards the property, it's more in case the owner is paying a cleaning company.
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful restful stay in Lindale - Property was stunning in a beautiful quiet spot. The sound of a stream running by was so lovely. I chose Meadowcroft cottage for a break from the constant fireworks in Manchester as my dogs are very nervous at this time of year. A little bit tricky to find but the host made sure we had the right direction so we only got a little lost. 😉
The Lanes are very narrow something to consider if you have a very large Vehicle
My Range Rover Evoque just about got thru with all my sensors chiming
🤣🤣🤣 but this only added to its charm😍
Great location plenty to do and great area for Dogs, a park just around the corner for a quick walk and play with the ball. We visited Humphrey Head, messed about in the sand pools the dogs loved it, so wear your boots or wellies as it very wet 😜
Property had everything you need to feel very comfortable. Beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. My dogs loved the garden with all its little nocks & cranes to hide in. We would definitely visit again. Thank you Curtis and Debs. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Kay (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay in lovely surroundings - Lovely and cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great to curl up in front of the log burner after a day out exploring. As two couples travelling together we especially liked having the two bathrooms. Beautiful garden and surroundings and great location. Lindale is a lovely little village only a short drive to Grange over Sands with its shops, cafes and restaurants. Nothing
- Kirsty (9/5): Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location - Lovely cottage and a great host Nothing
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - Cosy cottage with beautiful garden, everything you need for a family stay.
Quiet, picturesque, relaxing. Utensils, oven, dishes could have been cleaner.
Window's need cleaning
Smelt like there had been pets.

- Marie (10/5): Incredibly helpful and responsive host. Great holiday location with a toddler. - very clean and cosy. Well equipped. nothing it was perfect
- Mark (10/5): Great expearance all round owner contacted us to check we had everything we needed and the cottage is beautiful in a gre - Lovely cottage in a great location Nothing
- Rachael (10/5): The perfect spot to explore Windermere and surrounding area - Clean and cosy with everything and more than we needed. Lovely welcome pack with prosecco, crisps and biscuits and even dog treats. Fantastic communication with host.
Cottage was in a perfect secluded spot with access to amenities including children’s park and pub. Hope to go back 😊 Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Wow - Excellent location beautiful gardens walks from the doorstep local pub with good food That I had to go home !
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Almost certainly the best holiday property we have stayed in. A fabulous quirky upside down cottage in a great location. Beautifully furnished and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need for a marvelous, relaxing stay. The garden is absolutely stunning, we were very lucky with the weather to be able to make the most of sitting outside in the sunshine. Curtis is a great host, and I would highly recommend booking his property! Having to leave at the end of our stay!
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Great property, nice location, well equipped.
- Fi (8/5): Family New Year Stay! - A nice little cottage, which was perfect for our short stay at New Year. The log fire 🔥 was the highlight, and we appreciated having it to sit around in the evenings. Bedrooms were fine, and the main one had loads of wardrobe space! The other two bedrooms were smaller but still amble for all the time spent in them. The utility room was a great space to dry off our wet clothes and dog items, althoogh could have done with more clothes driers for 5 people. Took a while for things to dry out! The cottage was nice and quiet and peaceful which was just what we wanted and good location for exploring other towns nearby.. 😊 No street lights so take a torch if walking at night with dogs 🐾 (thankfully we had one!).
Although some negative comments left below, we would still return to Meadowcroft another time. Curtis was very helpful and friendly. The kitchen wasn't as we thought and a bit cramped at times. Could have been a bit cleaner in parts too 😏 The garden wasn't enclosed as hoped, so no off lead times, unfortunately for the pups. 🐾 The garden is quite steep in parts and slippery slabs/steps, so it had to be taken with caution. The parking is a very neat space and although we managed it was a bit of juggling at times for 2 small cars. There is also a public footpath running past where you park cars, so it wasn't as private.
- Ellie (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay at Meadowcroft for Christmas. The place was fully equipped to cook a Xmas dinner. Very cosy and comfortable for the cold weather. Very spacious for a bigger group. The Xmas decorations were a lovely bonus! Curtis has put a lot of thought into what his guests need! Would 100% stay again.
We also loved the little abseiling men!
- Derek (9/5): Excellent property for short break that we needed - Cosy upside down cottage. Open Fire. Excellent heating. Garden looked as if it would be wonderful in Summer Minor issues
1. Oven could have been cleaner (externally) and top oven (of 2) appeared not to be working
2. Parking for only 1 car was (very) slightly inconvenient as we had 2 cars
3 Mattress in main bedroom too soft for my liking but that is purely personal
- Natalie (8/5): Homely cottage in a beautiful area - Beautiful cottage in the lakes. Lots of homely touches like blankets in the lounge, dvds, board games and treats on arrival, as well as a well equipped kitchen and gorgeous garden. We would highly recommend and will hopefully be back! The cottage is a 25 minutes drive from Windermere and further from some of the northern lakes walks we’re used to. However don’t let this put you off - there’s actually lots in the local area to do - we loved grange over sands and newby bridge, nice walks too.
- Beth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Lovely place to spend a week - Lovely cottage, beautiful garden, great location for exploring the Lakes as you can connect through multiple routes at/around Newby Bridge. N/A
- Lisa (10/5): Fabulous property, warm, cosy and great location 😊 - Beautiful cottage, had everything we needed it was like home from home. Clean, very cosy and quiet location.
Lovely and spacious. Beds were comfortable, linen and towels were of a high quality.
Attention to detail from the host was exceptional.
Beautiful garden with various places to sit.
Host was very at-tentative, and responsive, checking in with us at various times.
Wonderful welcome pack was a lovely touch.
Highly recommend Nothing, it was a wonderful stay.
- Alison (10/5): An idyllic country cottage with the most beautiful garden. Perfect location to explore the Lakes. - The property was absolutely beautiful. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and smelt fresh. The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The living room had plenty of seats with a stunning fireplace (although we didn’t need this as the weather was gorgeous). The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The highlight for us was the garden. It was so lovely sitting out in the sunshine, listening to the trickling pond. Utterly perfect! There was nothing we disliked about the property at all, however it is worth mentioning that the cottage and the garden is on several levels. This could make it tricky for some people who are less mobile. For us, it wasn’t an issue and we would 100% return in the future.
- Guest (9/5): Great getaway - Nice cottage with an interesting layout and a beautiful garden. Very quiet. Comfortable beds. Enjoyed a 3h walk to High Dam Tarn starting from Newby Bridge (8 minutes drive). The location is rather remote, i.e. no shops within walking distance, takeaways don't deliver. A couple of Chinese and an Indian takeaway to pick up from Grange-over-Sands, but all were closed on a Tuesday. No sandy beaches in Grange-over-Sands.
- Nick (10/5): Excellent - Well kitted out. Modern. Clean Parking was potentially a problem as neighbours parked their cars outside but there is plenty of parking at the bottom of the road.
- Anita (10/5): Lovely part of Cumbria, on edge of Lake District National Park. Cartmel is beautiful and easy reach of Coniston, Winderm - Great location, so peaceful. Very comfortable and everything we needed. Nothing
- Malcolm (10/5): Charming, comfortable, clean cottage, with bags of character - everything we could have wanted. - The cottage was very comfortable and clean. It was beautifully decorated, and full of character. Comfortable lounge with wood burner and Sky television. Good internet, well equipped kitchen, lovely garden with nice seating areas. Curtis was very attentive and helpful - excellent communication. Nothing
- Karen (7/5): Pretty cottage, with all you need - Lovely cottage with everything you need for a short stay. Handy to have bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs for those with mobility issues. We were fortunate to get lots of sunshine, so it was nice to sit in the lounge with the doors to the garden open, and enjoy the sounds of nature. A very peaceful and quintessentially English setting. No reflection at all on the cottage, but I wouldn't stay in the area again. Strolling out to cafes, bakeries, or shops is part of our holiday wish list, so we got caught out, as there is nothing in Lindale apart from a pub and an Audi salesroom. We also found that walking through Lindale jangled our nerves a bit, due to a lack of paths combined with a lack of speed solutions for zealous drivers. However, none of this may be an issue for others.
- Emma (10/5): Lovely house, great hosts and wonderfully set up. - Really well set up for our stay, had great facilities and the outside space was wonderful. Great location with beautiful sights, walks and not far from amenities. Very attentive hosts. Would absolutely look to stay here again. Very little! One of the beds seemed to have an issue so someone slept in the single on the last night. The road to get to the house is very narrow and parking isn’t ideal so bare that in mind if you’re in a very big car or there’s more than one car in your group.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Idyllic location, with easy access to all of the lake district.
Fully equipped with a lovely garden and facilities. Immaculately clean and highly recommended. We will be returning!
- Amrisha (10/5): It was a beautiful relaxing stay. - Beautiful garden. Cozy living space. Good location.
- Lucy (10/5): A perfect bolthole for a relaxing break in the South Lakes. - Meadowcroft is a genuinely wonderful place to stay. The cottage is spacious, presented in a calm, sophisticated style, so comfortable & spotlessly clean. The log burner was great for evenings.
The garden is so beautiful. We weren’t very lucky weather wise but it’s a stunning setting with lots of outdoor seating.
Great for families - board games, play park right behind, Wi-Fi.
Well located for everywhere- we focused on Newby Bridge, Windermere & Coniston - all very local.
Great communication with the owner. Thank you for letting us bring Mimi - our Maltese & for the thoughtful welcome pack. The owners have done a superb job of offering a holiday home which is welcoming & unique. We hope to return.
- Forrest (10/5): A lovely relaxing break in a beautiful cottage! The hosts are so accommodating and the place is just perfect! - A beautiful cottage in a quiet location, the garden was stunning and on a clear night the stars were amazing.
Curtis and Deb accommodated us at very short notice the property was immaculate and had everything we needed.
Great location for easy access to the zoo and Windermere both approx 30 mins drive away.
Great communication from the hosts we would love to return in the future. We loved it all.
- Emma (10/5): A gem of a cottage in a beautiful place. It was like home from home. Curtis was fab! Very accommodating. Would highly - Immaculate, cosy, clean, welcoming. Nothing!
- Anonymous (10/5): We jadę great Christmas time - Living room with fireplace. Cozy cottage
- Diane (10/5): Loved every minute of our stay - The cottage is tastefully decorated with all the amenities needed for a break home from home.
The rooms are very spacious and clean with plenty of storage space in each room.
The kitchen was well stocked of everything you need and the little extra touches throughout the cottage makes all the difference.
The location of the property is nestled in a lovely village within a short distance from the sea and surrounding by some beautiful scenery.
Communication from the owner was excellent leading up to our stay as he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as good as possible
I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a value for money stay Nothing
