- Sergei (9/5): Good option in Dorogawa - Very nice historical ryokan, friendly and helpful staff, true atmosphere and awesome private onsen Kaiseki meals are far from top level, but could be nice for the first-timers
- Globetrotter688 (10/5): Excellent hotel with Authentic Japanese hospitality - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel room is spacious and very clean, exactly as described & shown on the photos on Booking.com. The staff are all very polite, service-minded and friendly. The check in & out process was effective and they are helpful with luggage. The hotel has a real authentic Japanese style. We also enjoyed the in-house hot-spring bath. The best experience of our stay were the two dinners, which were really nice, authentic Japanese foods with many different specialties and served in a real Japanese way. Although I have visited Japan many times when staying in large hotels, this is the first time I experienced the authentic Japanese hospitality. It is highly recommended. The only tiny problem we had is the low door-frames in the room and the steep wooden stairs in the house. It is a Japanese style house, so it is not built for tall European people.
- Miranda (10/5): A very special place! - Absolutely wonderful experience! The outdoor private onsen was heaven and the dinner and breakfast were world-class. The staff were so kind and attentive and helpful, even though I don’t speak any Japanese. A very special place in a beautiful area of Nara. It was all perfect
- 주현 (10/5): Strongly recommend - It's the best accommodation! Big room and private hot springs!
All the staff were so kind. Dinner&breakfast was good quality and obviously delicious. I didn't even want to check out forever.
I definitely will book again. Nothing
- Bertrand (10/5): The perfect nature side of Japan: typical, wild, welcoming! - Everything was outstanding: so quiet and typical, private room for the meals, incredibly kind personnel, remote place, access to the japanese wilderness (trek, torrent, forrest...) Nothing!
- Artem (10/5): Had an incredible time staying at Kadojin, taking in the views, the hospitality, great experience! - The location was picturesque and overall incredibly pleasant to look around at. The property itself is very well maintained, truly delivers the classic ryokan experience, onsen are amazing and very enjoyable, the staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful.
The food was something else - both the kaiseki dinner and the breakfast were delicious, filling and a great pleasure to partake in.
Overall, would highly recommend, I had a blast staying at Kadojin. The only thing is - but it comes with the territory - getting there is a bit cumbersome, but it's like that for most remote onsen villages. Just be prepared to spend 3-5 hours on the road there, including the last leg on either a bus (~2 hours) or on a taxi (~50 mins, ~11k yen).
If you ask me, however, it's completely worth it!
- Abby (10/5): My best meal/evening in Japan - A traditional onsen ryokan in a quaint mountain village. Our room was lovely and much larger than expected. The kotatsu was a great addition and we used it often. We had a room with a private bath, definitely worth the extra cost. The food was the best meal I had the entire trip, I was so full by the end I could barely get back to my room. The staff were so kind and one person even spoke excellent English. My only regret was that we didn’t stay longer
- Jasmine (9/5): Superb -
