- Ashlynn (10/5): This property was gorgeous. I wish I could have stayed longer. One night wasn't long enough. -
- Ken (8/5): We always enjoy staying at Carcoola, it's a great house. - We always enjoy staying at Carcoola it's a great house in a convenient location. We always enjoy staying at Carcoola however this time a few things were not consistent with our previous visits. I will make contact on this issue with the owner.
- Melinda (10/5): Wonderful! - The perfect home away from home for Christmas with my adult children and partners. A lovely piece of Blackheath history; with contemporary creature comforts for a very relaxing stay.
- Rebecca (8/5): Everything you meed - Spacious. Lots of amenities and generous host with provision of coffee pods / laundry detergent etc.
Michelle (property manager) was exceedingly helpful both prior to and after we left. We left behind some clothing and she helpfully sent them in the post which was appreciated The place could have been cleaner - it felt a bit dusty. The property felt much darker than the photos
- Lauren (10/5): - Lovely quiet accommodation in a beautiful garden setting. Oven needed a clean.
- Sarah (10/5): - The seclusion element
- jeanette (10/5): - Easy 15 mins walk from the station, quiet, clean. Lovely house in the middle of blackheath. Nothing
- Lesley (10/5): Beautiful home, great location. Will book this place again for sure! - Spacious and clean.
- Karin (10/5): Very nice, and fully equipped cottage - The overall accomodation which is really a very pleasant house. The kitchen is fully equipled, although this is not mentioned in the ‘facility list’. Nothing
- Georgia (10/5): Fantastic stay - Fantastic stay! All the rooms were comfortable, great relaxing feel to the whole house. Well located and a beautiful home. The mosquitos got me 😢
- Helen (10/5): Highly recommend this very comfortable cottage. - I stayed in the cottage (not the house) and it was very comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen had everything I needed including an oven, hot plates and a microwave. The washing machine/dryer was very handy. Great bed, bathroom and shower. Felt very much at home!
- Ian (9/5): Charming single bedroom "Chauffeur's Quarters". - This is about the single bedroom "chauffeurs block", not the main house.
The place was equipped thoughtfully and attractively. It was very clean and well presented throughout. As someone who likes to cook I appreciated the good kitchen and the provision of basic supplies like cooking oil and salt and pepper. Location was gorgeous, in a quiet, secluded pretty garden, but close to town.
Blackheath is a charming town with plenty of facilities, and walks such as Govetts Leap very close by
- Johanna (9/5): -
- Ross (10/5): - The cottage was hidden away in a large private garden. We had plenty of room for our week stay. Carcoola was very well equipped so we were able to do our own cooking and laundry. It was a short walk to the centre of Blackheath for coffee and shops
- Karen (10/5): Lovely, we’ll definitely be back - Private, great position, well maintained , excellent provisions of cutlery and crockery etc, quality appliances and furnishings beautiful gardens
- Emma (10/5): - The place was beautiful, amazing garden, quiet and a great get away. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything anyone could ever need. Elly was amazing and responded to messages quickly. N/a
- Karen (10/5): - The house and grounds we lovely. We enjoyed sitting on the big veranda, looking at the flowers, listening to the birds, and playing games. Indoors was equally lovely. Fully stocked and very comfortable. And gorgeous. We hope to stay again when visiting out daughter who lives nearby.
- Dee (8/5): - The accommodation was great. Plenty of room, comfortable bed and everything you could want in the kitchen. Beautifully furnished.
- Carina Weir (10/5): I will be recommending it to friends and family. - The heritage design, furniture, the space available, the garden, the facilities and supplies available, relaxing, very quiet, close to town but, it felt like you were in the country.
- Robyn (10/5): - Well appointed spacious cabin with everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Kitchen was well equipped & quality bed linen. Set in beautiful gardens & easy walking to shops, train & restaurants. Great location for hikes.
- Nathan (7/5): -
- Ilse (10/5): - Carcoola is an escape. It's a place that brings the old with the new in perfect harmony. The house has nostalgia and beauty. Gardens with scented flowers, bedrooms all comfy and warm with electric blankets, a fireplace to gather around and a wrap-around veranda to soak up the sun while sipping on coffee. We loved our stay and the house offers everything you need. Nothing
- Noel (9/5): - Vintage property, with a fantastic mountains cottage feel to it. Was a 5 min drive to the amazing Govetts Leap lookout, and less than 10 min from other lookout points. Nothing.
- Sanger (9/5): - Luxury and comfort, we enjoyed our time at this beautiful place.
- Michael (9/5): - Location was great.
Facilities were excellent
- Everitt (9/5): -
- Taya (8/5): A cozy vibe, close to Blackheath centre - It was a great location! And the owners were lovely and happy to help whenever we had questions My biggest complaint is the lounge - it was uncomfortable and meant we couldn’t comfortably use the lounge room to watch a movie
- Fran (10/5): A must stay - This self contained large one bedroom property was gorgeous! Plenty of space, incredibly clean and all the extras to make sure we were kept warm. The amenities were modern and everything in great condition. Only minor things, like the bed that creaked every time you rolled over (probably just needs tightening), and the couch wasn’t very roomy/comfortable but still a 5 🌟 rating for this property from us, we loved it!
- Jacinta (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house with fireplace. Very close to the centre of blackheath. Cold in the winter but central heating kept us nice and warm.
- Grigory (4/5): Disappointing - Location It's not a standalone cottage, but rather a granny flat with other people in the main house. Fake fireplace is a clear con compared to other similar properties in the area. Internal bathroom lock don't meet Australian construction standards and can lead to more serious incidents than just not able to use the bathroom the a quarter of paid time
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - What a beautiful house, very comfortable with lots of lovely touches. Warm and cozy on cold winter nights. Very comfortable lounge and beds. Nothing to mention, all good.
- Salvatore (9/5): Superb - The surrounding
- Bob (9/5): Superb - We had a good 3 days
- Balmainer (10/5): Well equipped cottage in ideal location in Blackheath - Exceptionally well equipped cottage in ideal location. Beautiful garden setting. Nil specific
- Tobie (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy, comfortable bed.
Clean
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): A wonderful place to relax & unwind - I loved the cottage. It was very quiet and peaceful, set in beautiful grounds. This was exactly what I was looking for.
The interior is beautifully furnished, with plenty of cosy throws to snuggle under. As it was winter when I stayed here. The heating/air conditioning unit is very effective & the extra fire in the bedroom could be programmed to your desired temperature and be on for a time of your choice.
The kitchen was very well equipped. The shower room was really beautiful with products provided. Also a washer/dryer so you can come home with clean clothes.
I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay in Blackheath.
- Lisa (10/5): Our fourth visit to Carcoola and definitely not the last! -
- Ana (10/5): Awesome! - We had a lovely long weekend staying at Carcoola, a beautiful classic Blackheath house set in fabulous gardens. The central location is great. The house was really comfortable and beautifully decorated. The weekend was very cold (even some snow overnight) but we could keep warm with the central heating and fireplace. Highly recommended!
- Kalani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Delightful, cosy cottage stay in Blackheath. - Quiet location but an easy walk into the town. Flannelette sheets and electric blankets were very welcome. Very clean well laid out cottage in delightful gardens. Had a washing machine/ dryer.
Air conditioner had warmed the cottage up when we arrived! Plenty of room for a couple.
! Nothing
- Laing (9/5): Great for a relaxing holiday - This is a very enclosed house close to Blackheath town, walk says 15 minutes and drive for 3 minutes, good for relaxing holiday. Lisa responded fast with patience. The car can park at house's front. House size great, lighting distribution in the house is a plus. The house also surrounds by the own garden. The heater only appears in the dining room, which is the end of the house, if the bedroom has no electric carpet, it can be very cold. And the wifi not working at all, that a little inconvenience even we have been told the day before arrival.
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elke (9/5): Nestled in a beautiful garden this delightful cottage was comfortable and made for a relaxing stay. - Not included. Tea and coffee supplied. A small long life milk would have been appreciated for tea and coffee on arrive. Stains on pillow protectors.
- Serah (10/5): Beautifully presented, easy to find and nice and peaceful for our getaway - Beautifully presented, easy to find and nice and peaceful Nothing
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): A fabulous trip. The autumn colours were gorgeous. - The cottage was beautifully presented, set in a lovely garden. The location was very central to all of the sights of the Blue Mountains. The township itself offered all of the necessary amenities like restaurants, a supermarket, and fuel. A bonus was the train station which took us all the way into Sydney for a day at Circular Quay (a trip we had not planned for). Just a few things: We found the futon lounge uncomfortable for our old bones (especially after walking all day). The kitchen mat is a trip hazard for people wearing slippers, and the car parking was far too tight, especially when both dwellings are occupied and people don't understand what a reversing bay is for and parked in it instead. The internet is S L O W, and logging into Netflix defeated our technological skills. Youtube was a good back up.
- Lyn (10/5): Beautiful Bungalow in Blackheath - The property was a beautiful bungalow set amongst beautiful gardens. Fully functional kitchen and separate dining room and TV room. Very quiet. The location was fantastic - close to walks, tourist attractions and other villages.
- Robert (10/5): It is a great stay for couples who want to be near Black Heath - Great space for couples. Good location on the town. Pretty cold. Kitchen facilities could have been better
- Stella (8/5): Quiet separate apartment - Peaceful and easy to get to walks Although kitchen was spacious, more prep space is needed. A dishwasher would be nice.
- Sandy (10/5): Perfect , peace & quiet . Stayed in the 1 bed studio . - The location was perfect, quiet and peaceful. The Studio apartment was lovely and has everything you need in it , the gardens were beautiful & so relaxing . It strolled around them many times a day . I loved watching the Bowerbird build his nest in the secret garden . I love the bistro table and chairs under the tree in the side courtyard. I spent hours sitting and enjoying my coffee while listening to nature . Thank you Lisa & Steve for opening up your amazing property for others to use and enjoy time away from the rat race xx Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (10/5): Excellent. Thank you - Beautiful house and gardens. Only problem was the toaster only toasted on the outside of each slice of bread,. Think the centre element must be faulty.
- Karin (8/5): We had a lovely relaxing stay in the small cottage. Great amenities and location. - Great location. Quiet. Clean. Comfortable bed. Beautiful gardens. Even though Lisa informed us of problems with the wifi on the day we arrived, we got no further updates or had it fixed in the 5 days we were there. Just some other minor things, Sofa bed couch uncomfortable. Rug in kitchen dangerous as it was a trip and slip hazard. Would have liked a full length mirror.
- John (8/5): Very good - Great location, all worked really well and decent size. Would have liked contact with the host, couldn’t get the WiFi to work.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (9/5): Very enjoyable - Beautiful grounds Need a dustpan & broom
- Graham (9/5): Superb - Well styled , great attention to detail. Providing everything we needed. We enjoyed the "secret garden" . Close to attractions and main centre. N/a
- Paul (10/5): We hope to return. - Include some info in the guest information about the history of this fabulous home.
- Monica (8/5): Very good -
- Sheelagh (9/5): A quiet, relaxing and comfortable stay in a beautiful garden setting. - We stayed in the self-contained one-bed apartment which is separate from the main house at Carcoola. Both properties are set in a beautiful mature garden within 10-15 minutes walk from a range of great shops and restaurants in Blackheath centre. Although both houses are close together, we felt very private. Our host was very prompt to respond to queries and we had a very relaxing and comfortable stay. The house is very spacious and extremely well equipped with everything you might need if you want to cook all your own meals, do your laundry etc. Extra blankets and heaters provided for colder weather. Highly recommended!
- Matthias (10/5): Exceptional - Magnificent house. Good heating. Wood fire.
- Jay (9/5): Very lovely and comfortable cottage! - The 1 bedroom cottage has everything we needed
It's spacious with modern interior and clean. It's close to the centre of Blackheath. I couldn't quite figure out tmilk frother functionality on the coffee machine. Milk frother would have made the mornings perfect!
- Mike (9/5): Superb - The bbq and kitchen facilities were great, and the garden was lovely, particularly at this time of the year. We found the house a little dark and cold, although the heating did get going very quickly. The weather was quite cold and wet during our stay, so this will have contributed to this feeling.
- Tamryn (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (8/5): Very good - This is a moderate sized self-contained accommodation in a lovely quiet setting and in a good location. The property is well appointed with a well furnished and attractive decor. Some of the kitchen facilities such as the exhaust fan and oven could be cleaner. There is also a water leak in the base of the shower recess.
- Denise (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again :) - Was in a lovely quiet neighbourhood with fabulous gardens. Great place to base ourselves for walking tracks. Really appreciated the tea and coffee as well as the boutique toiletries in the shower. It’s probably time for a bit of a deep clean as there were quite a few dead flies and dust in corners, on open shelves and under furniture. The door to the bathroom needs to have the strip under the door screwed down in the corner so the door can shut properly. Minor things but would improve the property.
- P (10/5): Exceptional - My husband, my parents, and I stayed here, and we all had a wonderful time. The accommodation was spacious, clean, and cozy. The village was nearby, and the beautiful garden made staying in just as enjoyable as going out. There were tourist attractions and a lookout point just a short drive away, which my parents especially appreciated. The electric blankets were warm and comfy, adding an extra touch of comfort. Thank you for providing such a pleasant and memorable experience!
- Sue (10/5): Gorgeous old house in extensive grounds - complete with rhododendrons in flower and a bower bird nest - great for 3 coup - Warm and comfortable, great location, beautiful gardens
Well equipped…good heating and fireplace plus electric blankets which were great for our very wintery stay.
Loved the ikou toiletries. Just a few minor things that could easily be fixed - toaster didn’t work properly, and the kitchen bin was very awkward to access. Way too many covers and cushions on the beds - but it was easy to stack these out of the way. Nothing that diminished our enjoyment.
- Catherine (10/5): Fabulously positioned, beautiful home with all the comforts, in a picturesque garden setting! - The location is brilliant, easy walking distance to Blackheath shops and restaurants.
Such a beautiful house with fabulous period features but with modern facilities and comfort.
The gardens add so much the stay - just beautiful. Nothing
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful location. -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Nice old house close to both Blackheath town and Govets Leap. Was keeping the tempiratute warm inside with heaters on and electric blankets. Well-equipped kitchen and washing facilities provided. Great coffee provided by owners. Bed was really comfortable and blinds could keep the light off in the morning. There was no dishwasher, had to wash the dishes manually every time and do thorough dishes and kitchen cleaning on check out. Checkout was at 10, a bit early too, had to do lots of dishes and take all the rubbish out. Would be nice to have a real fireplace at least with gas, not just a decorative one.
The shower was also running off the hot water after 2 people have a shower. But overall nice and equipped house.
- Coleman (9/5): Superb - Beautiful, well appointed old house, magnificent gardens and in a great location. We had a wonderful weekend in Blackheath.
- Shernya (10/5): Lovely and clean cottage close to town and very comfortable! - Loved the coziness and the full kitchen available. The property was lovely and clean, and the bedding was warm and comfortable and there were plenty of spare blankets available. The air con is a great feature as it meant we could warm the place up! When we arrived the other main house was booked and it meant it was tricky to get our car in, they did however leave the next day as we had the parking to ourselves for the rest of the trip. The freestanding electric heater could be a bit better, but overall was nice to have.
- Duanduan (10/5): Nice weekend gateway for couple - Nice location, cute interior design
- Eimear (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was so comfortable N/A
- Patterson (9/5): Carcoola - A lovely relaxing mountains get away. - The gardens at this time of year were stunning.
The house where we stayed was lovely. The facilities in the house were very good, the bed was really comfortable.
The owner had gone to a lot of effort to decorate very tastefully.
The bathroom had everything we needed and was scrupulously clean.
The kitchen was also well equipped with all the necessary appliances, crockery, and cutlery. The air con did not heat the rooms very evenly. The dining room, where the air con was located, The rest of the rooms varied in warmth.
- Leeanne (10/5): Well equipped cottage in lovely quiet setting, close to amenities. Lovely garden. -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Lovely cottage, great location. - Location very handy to walk into town. Close to main tourist activities in the Blue Mountains. Quiet location. Accommodation all you could need.
- Ken (10/5): An excellent well presented property and intending to return in 2025 - House, garden, location excellent presentation Internet issues relative to the requirement for an online conference. voice OK, camera images poor or not working at all.
- Denis (8/5): Very good - Only 2 glasses. Leaking batteries in back of drawer. We disposed of them and cleaned base of the drawer.
- Helen (10/5): Lovely old home with all mod cons in a spacious private garden. Happy to stay again. - very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. great garden. will be beautiful in spring. the weather.....but we still had a good time.
- Helen (9/5): A very enjoyable and comfortable catch up with old friends. - Location is an easy 10 minute walk to village with shops and restaurants. Can recommend Thai Silk.
Beautiful garden which will be fabulous in spring. Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen large dining table to accommodate a group. Lovely additional accommodation in the cottage to suit a group of eight altogether. The weather! But no one can organise that. We still had a great time together.
- Alexandria (9/5): Superb -
- Elizaberh (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): Perfect spot to stay in beautiful Blackheath - Loved this little 1 bedroom cottage, it was perfect a couple to stay in. Very well equipped with cooking facilities. The bed was comfortable & the whole place was tastefully decorated. Would have loved to be able to use the fireplace.
- Fiona (9/5): Lovely time, no complaints - Everything Having to leave
- Barbara (5/5): Never again. - Firstly sterile with nothing to say welcome. Secondly regimented and first place anywhere in the world we have been instructed to take waste/recycling bins to kerbside for collection. Thirdly the instruction to wash dry then replace kitchen items into cupboard. After this kitchen surfaces to be wiped down All this prior to leaving. .Garden unkept and not warm welcoming stay.Made us feel like cash cows.
