Guest Reviews
- A2531NUchristinec (8/5): To eat or not to eat! - First the good bit. Checked in by a friendly member of staff. Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Booked meal deals so ate in the restaurant on the first night. The service was great - much better than our previous stay here and the food was really good. My steak was cooked to perfection! Staff worked hard to achieve this. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent. Plenty of choice and food hot. We were booked in for another night but unfortunately because the hotel put up notices to say that the restaurant would be closed that evening and not wanting to venture out in the bad weather or have a takeaway in our room ( can't think of anything worse!) we decided to cut our losses and go back home. It seems that this hotel frequently closes the restaurant at the drop of a hat not thinking of its customers. I suspect it's to do with the chef as there only seems to be 1 of them. So even when you've booked meal deals you are not guaranteed a meal, which is appalling! It's such a shame as the staff are friendly and hard working but the meal situation really does need sorting out by Premier Inn.
- johnappleby71 (10/5): First impressions count.... - Kirsty was lovely on reception. Helped with my luggage and getting me in the room.
Explained about parking, eating and the local area.
The room is very modern and well presented.
Overall, much better experience than o expected.
Well done Kirsty and the colleagues at Premier Inn Plymouth.
- alangQ5289OP (10/5): Great Hotel! - Lovely hotel , great staff and spotless cleaning comfortable premier plus room ! Only spoilt by greedy guests at buffet breakfast piling up their plates full of cooked breakfast items and later I saw good food left on their tables to waste as they walked away - I had to make do with 1 sausage 1 bacon rasher and the last fried egg with a crust of toast - not like the greedy couple in front of me that had three sausages each , 3 fried eggs each, 3 bacon rashers and literally cleared the lot - as I said later to leave much of their greed to waste - but this was not the hotels fault - I think buffet breakfasts need reviewing - they would save enough on waste food to pay 2 table servers and do table service.
- F1088YWianp (2/5): Parking Fine - Stayed at the premier Inn at Pickering on the 13th November for 3 nights. We did self check in because the reception was busy with other guests. We put our car registration into the tablet & this weekend have received 2 parking fines from Horizon parking claiming we have breached premier inn terms & conditions. The fine is for £57 per night.
How can this be when they advertise free parking.Tried ringing Pickering branch but no one there.
- SandraD4460 (10/5): Clean, comfortable and friendly hotel - Clean and comfortable room, good choice of food for breakfast and evening meal. Staff are very friendly and welcoming will definitely stay here again.
Good base for visiting York and the north Yorkshire coast.
- DroopingDaisy107 (2/5): Not very impressed - Stayed at this newish Premier Inn after a family trip out to celebrate my father's birthday. Eventually a staff member came to check us in as elderly parents dont like using computerised system. The girl was pleasant but sat with her foot up on the chair the whole time. Stayed in room 105 and the bed base creaked all night when I turned over and kept waking me up. The windows don't open so I kept the air conditioning on all night, which is noisy and has a very bright light on the panel! When I complained that I hadn't slept very well the next morning, the man on reception didn't seem bothered - despite the premier inn, good night promise and told me to complain on the website. I did this last week and have heard nothing back. Not very good for a Premier and at over £200 for 2 rooms for 1 night not even very cheap!
- t0astiem (4/5): Entered our room without permission - We were told nobody would enter our room during our stay as we declined to have room cleaned as only staying 2nights.we borrowed an iron and board from a room full of them. We went out for the day and when we returned we found someone had been into our room a removed the iron and board. When we spoke to the receptionist she said’oh sorry no idea why as we have plenty’ no real apology. The crumpets at breakfast had visible mold on them.
- Y8655XLjeremyj (10/5): Excellent - The room was very clean and a comfortable king size bed. Very quiet. Rather complicated electronic Check-in. Took a little time for staff member to appear. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Wi-fi none existant in room only works in reception.
- RonBarber (8/5): Good - Liked most of the upgrades to prem plus rooms. Missed a trick by not fitting any shower trays as opposed to shower over a bath (hence only 4 stars). Room prepared by Kerry, would give 5 stars for her.

- Jag555 (8/5): Good but poor on>off restaurant facilities. - Not our first stay here and the Premier Plus room was just as good. Highly recommended. Breakfast excellent as usual but extremely disappointe with the restaurant. First night we waited 55 minutes from ordering food to its' arrival. Simply not acceptable. Due to severe snow in the Pickering area we planned to eat in the hotel on our second night too - only to be advised at breakfast that the restaurant would not be open that evening. Distributed throughout the hotel on most walls there are menus and pictures of dishes from the menus. It is extremely unhelpful for guests to be subjected to these situations. Either you have a restaurant or you don't.
- Q4998TDstevew (10/5): Pleasant Stay - Recently spent 2 nights with family at this hotel. The service received from arrival to departure was very professional and courteous, in particular would like to mention receptionist Cassidy for her cheerful demeanour and valuable assistance. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- dannyt844 (10/5): beautiful location and a perfect stay - ticked all our books..perfect location we traveling from this location and Scarborough Robin hood bay.. and of course all the beautiful village around Pickering
- B3025UYstevenw (10/5): Great stay at Plymouth east - Great hotel. Loved the crisp on reception left from the team.
Cassidy was also really friendly and helpful. Will be back
- 13lukeoz (10/5): Exceptional stay – Premier Inn at its best! - Had an incredible stay, Jordana was brilliant and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel was very clean and tidy, everything worked in our room aswell which is a first.
- 87elliotm (10/5): Couples weekend away - Honestly didn’t expect much when I booked but ended up having such a good stay thanks to Jordana, the manager.
She was honestly unreal super friendly, actually cared, and went out of her way to help with a couple things that just made the stay way better than I expected.
Just little things made a massive difference. The place itself was nice, but Jordana honestly made it feel way more welcoming.
- OnAir24348172757 (10/5): Excellent stay — great value and comfort! - I had a really pleasant stay at this Premier Inn. The room was spotless, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything felt modern and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out, and they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. Special shout to Jordana for going out of her her way to make sure we were happy and settled in.
- gavincJ6752LT (10/5): Very good stay - Tasha and Jordana were both very helpful. The room was very tidy and comfortable.

- davidjH1606KW (10/5): Over and above expectations, at very short notice. - We arrived in Plymouth in the small hours of the morning after a dreadful 8+ hour journey, which had been disrupted by two detours caused by motorway closures. For one of those, we had experienced all sorts of problems following convoluted diversion signs. We already had a booking at a self-catering location, but were unable to park. We are both of retirement age, and, by the time we decided to give up and approach Premier Inn without a prior booking, we were both exhausted and quite frustrated.
Dawn, the night receptionist at Plymouth East Premier Inn, could not do enough for us. We hadn't eaten, so she heated the two ready meals we had purchased and brought them to our room. Really, she could not do enough for us.
Then, we had a really good night's sleep and are fully grateful that Premier Inn, through Dawn, could look after us at such short notice. Thank you.
- 702alanc (10/5): Pick up a Pickering - Great location on the edge of Pickering but an easy walk into town. Good jumping off point for going to Scarborough, Whitby and other nearby towns. Food was excellent as always.
- Q361JVchrisk (4/5): Sorry we do not have enogh Chef's to provide you with food. - I finished work and I traveled 3 hours to the Pickering Premier Inn arriving around 7pm , I self checked in my wife & I and immediately went to the restaurant where I was informed by who I presume was a staff member (not in uniform) that they only had one chef and because I had not pre-booked we would have to go somewhere else to eat!!!! Just RUBBISH. I thought this was a hotel and we as traveling customers expect more!
- maxoJ7667AS (10/5): Great experience - Come down here a lot for business. Not the best with new places but Cassidy has been an absolute star. She has been extremely helpful and kind and has made the experience even better
- Z2588QXruthb (8/5): A pleasant stay - This was a pleasant stay whilst exploring Plymouth for a few days. My room was clean and tidy although I did feel there was a lack of storage space with the wardrobe design (one shelf in essence and a few hangers). The room was incredibly warm across all three nights even with the fan provided and the road noise prevented me from having the window open. The pressure in the sink tap was poor but the shower was fine. There is a good sized car park and you input your registration at reception to avoid being charged. The car park could be busy in the evenings with the overflow from the Beefeater so a late arrival could struggke for a space. The Beefeater used for breakfast is tired and dated and blasted out Heart radio. On each morning there were dirty mugs, plates and cups in with the "clean" which was poor.
- angiet150 (8/5): Good easy access - First time staying at this Premier Inn. Friendly efficient check in, ample parking. Room was fresh and clean and looks as if it has had a recent refresh compared to some we've stayed in. Lovely tv, decent mirror light, hair dryer etc comfortable chairs and comfy bed. Only niggle is the air con, just can't get our heads around it. Window did open but far too noisy. We resorted to the fan on a low setting all night but it wasn't the most comfortable sleep. Breakfast was good. I see that most inns now are putting out large dishes of yoghurt which I personally don't like much prefer a pot to myself - is this a cost cutting move ?!!! Easy access and would probably stay again coming off the ferry !
- kayleighc674 (10/5): Warm welcome and great stay - Lovely warm welcome from receptionist Kirsty. She was super helpful and accommodating. Made me feel welcome instantly.
Lovely stay-great clean room and food was lovely. Would definitely recommend
- OnAir03605604099 (10/5): Very clean hotel and lovely staff! - My room was very clean.Kirsty was very helpful and friendly to me and helped me find places to visit around the city. Overall, the atmosphere was very nice to be in.
- emilylV9325UG (10/5): Good staff - Really nice hotel, every staff member in hotel and beefeater were amazing and friendly.
i would like to give a special mention to Kirsty who was so friendly upon check in and helped bring a iron and ironing board to our room to save us carrying it up the stairs
- garyhF555YQ (10/5): Great! - Great hotel, nice rooms, awesome staff especially Kirsty ! Added bonus of a huge car park for our big vans, it is free however don’t forget to register your number plate.
- Ashfamily1818 (4/5): Not good . - Needs a refurbished, smelly rooms and not very good heating. "………………….."………………………………………………………………………."…………………….
- L2425YCpeter (6/5): Pre-book a restaurant meal deal, or they'll refuse to let you eat there, claiming that it's fully booked. - Upon pulling into the carpark of the Pickering Premier Inn, the place appears totally unkempt and overgrown. However, once you get inside, it's quite tidy.
Unfortunately, it was a bit like the Mary Celeste. There was no sign of any staff members whatsoever, just a couple of 'self check-in' kiosks. After a long drive, and with two tired kids in tow, I'd much rather have just been checked in with a member of staff.
Once we got comfortable in our family room, which was clean enough and quite spacious, (but has no drawers, so you've no choice but to live out of your suitcase), we decided to head downstairs to the restaurant for a meal, especially looking forward to it, as there was a poster in the lobby area advertising that kids eat for free during half term. There were barely any tables occupied, yet we were denied entry, as we hadn't pre-booked and the restaurant was apparently fully booked. Since when do you have to pre-book meals at a hotel chain such as this?!? Instead, we were given a list of local takeaways and ended up all having to sit on our beds, eating fish and chips. When I went to collect the fish and chips, approximately an hour later, the restaurant was still empty. This really wasn't how we were expecting to start our stay in Pickering!
The next morning I asked about getting a table for that evening. They asked if I'd pre-booked a meal deal. As the answer was no, we couldn't have a table, though they offered to book us in for the following day, should I wish. Whilst walking through the lobby area, I heard other people on the phone, ordering takeaway, so it's clearly a major issue at this hotel.
For anybody who does stay here, which I won't be doing again, take a five minute drive out to Spencers Bar and Grill. They're friendly, welcoming and offer great meals at a decent price.
I don't know if it's the same at all Premier Inns now, but at this one it feels that they're trying to operate a major hotel using staffing numbers from a small B&B. This comment isn't meant to come across negatively towards the staff that I dealt with, as they generally appeared to be overworked.
- P2243SBharryb (2/5): Ruined Holiday by premier inn hotel at pickering - After traveling 180 miles to premier hotel pickering and to find they did not have our room with a walk in shower which they had promised us all along.
I AM 81 YEARS OLD AND MY WIFE 76 YEARS OLD and we cannot step into a bath. Only two weeks before we went they said we were alerted a walk in shower. So our seven day holiday was ruined and we had to drive another 180 miles home again. Used £50 of petrol and a ruined holiday. We has no luck getting our petrol money back from customer service and sent all paper work to head office waiting is Witbread and they did not have the decency to reply to them. So I recommend any body going to a premier inn hotel to read the Reviews first and if you have any special needs to ring up the hotel a day before. Can you imagine what we felt like at our age to drive 360 miles in one day and a ruined holiday.
Harry & Valerie Baines.
- D7051BNjosephines (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Checked into this bougie premier inn, nicest one I’ve been too with the super cool chairs and plants in reception. I think premier inn should have these available to buy like the beds.
Lovely lady called Kirsty checked us in, she delivers amazing customer service, making our children feel involved in the check in process and giving them bubbles.
The rooms were spacious and clean. We even had colouring books left in the room. They also had children’s books in reception that children can borrow for bedtime.
Brilliant premier inn!! Highly recommend.
- Z3041UBgeorgeh (10/5): Business Visit - When checking in Cassidy was very welcoming and polite. The room I was given had clearly had a recent refresh and was clean and presentable.
- marybK1607NN (10/5): Amazing stay - Firstly, the staff were amazing. The young lady who checked us also worked the bsr and then waited at table for our evening meal. She was lovely, helpful and very hard working. Premier inn, she is a credit and deserves acknowledgement. Also the young man who's was waiting at table was attentive and ensured we were well looked after. The food was very tasty, in fact one of the staff Members telephoned me to book us in for dinner.
Our room was clean and comfortable
I have stayed at many premier inns but this was one of not the best. Thank you
- Cherrylips55 (10/5): Staff incredible - Firstly we chose this hotel for the location it's close to pickering, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, our room was spotless and could not fault it,but the icing on the cake was the wonderful staff very plesent and helpful could not do enough for you I hope premier inn know what a hardworking team you have here... wonderful stay
- Departure15511882164 (2/5): Shabby place with poor service. - Handy location, rooms are fine, feel overall is tired and shabby. Make sure you don't use the Brewers Fayre though, very poor food and service is comically bad.
- 20lesleyr (6/5): Great hotel but short staffed - Great hotel situated ion the outskirts of Pickering. the self service breakfast was good with a good variety of items to choose from and the poached eggs cooked to perfection. The only down side we arrived at 20:00hrs on Friday after a long journey, but were unable to have an evening meal in the restaurant! But the staff informed us we could 'order in' but as not knowing the area it's difficult to know where one could obtain food from so sadly we went without a meal that evening which was totally unsatisfactory as we had our 18 year old grandson with us! The 3 star review reflects the fact that we were unable to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant.
- W2703LBsoniar (8/5): Lovely Stay - Very clean and comfortable hotel, within walking distance of Pickering town centre. Pleasant and helpful staff. Meal deal very good value.
- kickinaboot (10/5): Cheap and cheerful - For the price of this hotel, you can’t complain about anything. Rooms are clean, spacious and quiet, come equipped with full aircon and tv with input for iPad and laptop. Ample parking and friendly staff, restaurant on site and good value for money
- mandylh2013 (10/5): Superb (and Really Lovely) overnight last minute stay/booking - Just fabulous, last minute booking (in order to catch the steam train to Pickering.)
Fabulous, extremely clean, lovely room.
One couple (in the restaurant) summed it up by saying " you can always guarantee consistently great standard with Premier Inn. That fact is true.
My only additional "requests" is that you make ALL disabled rooms have wet rooms (not a bath...I couldn't get in it) plus you make some of your Premier Plus rooms, disabled friendly too. It would also be nice is you allowed well behaved dogs too. Oh yes, and don't charge "surcharges" (when on the meal plan) for certain "meat" meals. Other than that, this was a FABULOUS hotel to stay in. We really enjoyed our stay
- Stay790194 (10/5): Highly recommended. - Stayed 2 nights on a meal deal. Excellent Hotel and friendly efficient staff. Good breakfast and evening meals. We were in a premier plus room. Hotel is only a 15 minute walk into Pickering. Plenty to see and do in the town. Only a short car journey to the moors or Whitby. Bus stop just outside. Loads of car parking at hotel. Easy to get to York. Really enjoyed our stay.
- allisonpN6331XJ (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - Booked a 2 night stay with breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised, room and bathroom were very clean, coffee, tea and kettle. Very nice restaurant for breakfast and evening meal. We only ate breakfast but it was very good, self service, coffee very good too .
Walking distance into Pickering (around 1 mile) but bus stop a 2 minute walk from hotel.
- martincQ2427TW (4/5): Wry disappointing stay - A disappointing experience, whilst the staff were very pleasant the corridors and room were very tired and we couldn’t stay in the first room as someone had thrown a blank of wood through the window. Whilst we were accommodated with a new room the TV didn’t work and there was no air on. A very noisy fan was provided but the noise made sleeping quite a challenge. The TV did get sorted however the room smelt of wet dog which was unpleasant. I have stayed in many premier inns and this one was not great, I wouldn’t return and will think twice about booking a premier inn again, it feels like their standards are slipping.
- readikus (2/5): Average - Average Premier Inn, but the attached bar doesn’t align with the advertised opening hours. This is such a simple thing that they have full control over, so a very lazy thing not to do that creates an inconvenience for visitors. Also doesn’t go down well when smugly told by the hotel staff that the bar has just closed.
- 60lizziel (8/5): Standard premier inn - We stayed on a Sunday night in September.
The check in process was simple and the receptionist was friendly.
The room was clean and had all the amenities you expect from a premier inn.
The only downside was that the room was very warm. The thermostat on the wall read between 24-26 degrees during our stay. There wasn't any AC or central cooling so the thermostat only affected the heater. There was a fan in the room, but the window had an opening-limiter so there was no real way to cool the room down. There hadn't been any recent heatwave so it was pretty normal September weather.
- Veggie911 (8/5): Staff are great - You know me, only review if it’s really good or really bad…The hotel is ok, acceptable. The hotel staff, particularly Monica, makes this place great. When we came in, another guest was being very grumpy and somewhat aggressive with her, she did her very best to help him, remaining courteous and pleasant the whole time. She helped get us a room closer to the entrance without being asked as she noticed my mobility problems, always cheerful and smiling, recommended places to eat locally... Staff like this, who are really good at their job and really care about customer experience, are few and far between. Premier Inn, keep this lady, give her a pay rise, SHE makes your hotel somewhere people want to come!
- lynnesT3206ZV (10/5): would recommend, not only is this a lovely hotel its in an easy to get to quiet area! - i only have great reviews for this hotel! always a pleasure to come down for events and have the comfort of a great hotel thats familiar!
- Suzanne216692 (10/5): Welcoming and friendly staff - My colleague and I stayed due to going to Ladies Day at Pontefract races in early August. we had a meal in the evening. The staff at the hotel were really friendly. A shout out to Sarah H who was so helpful regarding any questions from taxis to car parking, the wine and more. thank you
- Trail535184 (6/5): Ok but not great - Good price, comfortable bed and friendly staff.
Food was ok, not great but as expected.
Shower was not clean enough and the hotel corridors smell of teenage bedrooms
- Z6955LRpaulw (10/5): i would go back their I really enjoyed the stay as well the staff was extremely nice an perlity as well an well presente - i would go back their I really enjoyed the stay as well the staff was extremely nice an perlity as well an well presented as well
- J_Craine279 (10/5): Good nights sleep and a nice play area for the kids - Staff were very friendly and welcoming. There’s a huge indoor kids play area at the restaurant that looked brilliant although we didn’t get a chance to try it out as it was closing.
Very peaceful evening and a good nights rest.
Wasn’t keen on the breakfast as way to salty for my taste and not worth the price in my opinion but the dinner was enjoyable
- Maps670412 (2/5): Awful experience - I'm not sure if we just got a bad room or if the entire hotel is like this, but our experience was disappointing. We booked a family room, and as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by a horrible smell, like someone had been in the room for a week without showering. The fan was the dirtiest I've ever seen.
The bathroom also had a strong odor of urine, and the shower curtain was filthy. After calling reception, they sent someone to change the fan and spray the room. (Not sure what this was supposed to achieve)
Unfortunately, my daughter and I ended up with several bites on our arms. To say we were disappointed with our room would be an understatement.
- wattakulla (8/5): Will stay there again. - Couldn't fault our room for the 2 nights we stayed. The breakfast buffet had everything you'd expect to see, the cooked section was very good quality.
However, the 2 nights we stayed there were no ales! I was told the only two they appeared to have weren't quite ready because the fresh delivery hadn't settled enough before they could be served. Lager was over represented here with about 6 different on tap, Strongbow cider one fruity and Guinness which was absolutely tasteless and is the brewers fault not the hotel.
I think the food menu had a good selection to suit most people and we enjoyed what we had. The only let down was all five menu cards on our table were greasy as hell inside and out, full of oily fingerprints and food residue, I took them to the bar and the lad said he'd bring fresh ones, when he brought them over we found they were the same ones which they'd crudely wiped over.
The star of the show was Cloe, a very pleasant and attentive waitress providing us with excellent service and who took time to chat and was genuinely interested in us.
- P5130HGdavids (8/5): Stop over to split journey - Bed was very comfy but room too hot as no air-conditioning.
We went for the meal deal but menu choice was very poor for the evening meal and very slow service had to ask waitress where the meal was.
Breakfast was usual premier inn standard ok but nothing special
- D8957MBjordanh (10/5): so welcoming and clean hotel! - Room was spotless! Couldn’t fault it, Courtney I think her name was, she was amazing and friendly, welcoming and a big smile on her face. She is a credit to the company so well done. Lovely pillows and although very warm a clean fan was provided. Amazing thankyou so much
- leeh165 (6/5): Riverdance - The hotel is loca near l to most amenities
There is a bar and a restaurant on site
The hotel is within a few miles of Pontefract racecourse
- matthewdominicb (8/5): Useful stop off - Usually Premier Inn experience: recently decorated and with advantage of walk in shower which is a welcome advance on the bath and shower curtain of older premier inns. Convenient location for A1 and M62 but in the middle of nowhere. It really functions as a useful stop off. Plenty of parking.
- D7920PKadamm (4/5): Avoid if possible - Not a proper Premier Inn Breakfast and not a smooth check in. Not even a comfortable mattress. I will not use again. The only good bit was the location. Normally good for you know what you are getting - it was certainly not like a normal premier inn.
- Quest41157103531 (10/5): Great hotel - Excellent value for money. Rooms clean &, bed so comfy.
Staff are lovely &, friendly.
Brewers fayre attached is good however they do close much earlier than stated on website
- Destination544741 (8/5): So many good things - Bedroom, Hotel. Restaurant etc all fine.
Evening meal deep fried with breadcrumbs....
On East side of Leeds great position to get North-South and equally East-West. Yes I would stay there again but possibly alternate eating in and out.
- H1528SJmarkk (4/5): Wi-Fi - what Wi-Fi ? - The Wi-Fi let this place down. I can accept a poor phone signal - which is flagged - BUT in the 21st Century I cant accept a dismal and unstable Wi-Fi connection -
There are no excuses for this
