Guest Reviews
- jeansB1756FS (8/5): Excellent location for station - Very pleasant staff. Room very clean but bedside shelf far too small for essentials, phone, drink, pills etc. Also noticed nowhere to put laptop.
- Roving43241490808 (10/5): Great stay - Great location, comfort, cleanliness and value for money would recommend a stay here 👍 we will be back to stay again- thanks
- Destination283427 (8/5): Great hotel with very helpful receptionists - Quite hard to find the hotel in the dark as the road system around it is a bit confusing!
Great that the restaurant is accessed from the hotel and good space for breakfast
All Receptionists very helpful
Especially BARBARA on reception during the evening was amazing and soo helpful
- I1041GLhelenc (10/5): Day trips - Exceptional hotel.
Clean and inviting.
Staff superb.
Free car parking bonus.
Great links to motorway and Peak District.
We visited several places whilst here and it was central to everything.
Definitely be back next year.
- johneX8868DC (10/5): Naturally friendly and hepful staff - Nice rooms, beds comfy as advertised, breakfasts excellent. All good but....
... My wife and I booked 2-nights; 11th & 12th Nov-25, at the Premier Inn, Chesterfield North [Tapton Lock] to visit family at Holmewood. It all went horribly wrong when my wife suffered a medical emergency on the 12th and was admitted to Chesterfield hospital for what turned out to be 5-days.
The staff at this Hotel cannot be praised highly enough. I'm certain that they are trained to be friendly to customers but that training was superfluous because I was left in no doubt that it came naturally. It left me with a very good impression of Derbyshire and it's people.
Because none of my cards worked, I had difficulty Internet booking on a dayly basis. The receptionist helped me to book on more than one occasion using the card machine on the desk. Another time the 'night man' Troy] did the same after I came back late from the hospital. They were all very patient with me.
On another day the hotel was full but the receptionist came through to the dining room to inform me of a cancellation which she then managed to secure for me. I was very grateful. Every time I walked though reception or into the dining room someone would ask. 'How is your wife?'
For a trip which started with two of us, I was left alone but not lonely because of the staff at this hotel.
Thank you!
John
- 608rhyss (10/5): Amazing place - Amazing service. Welcomed with a warm smile and accommodated for very quickly.
Room is clean and spacious. Will definitely be staying again.
- lynr703 (10/5): Excellent - We stayed here for two nights. We could not fault a single thing both at Premierinn and in Brewers Fayre next door. Our room was spotlessly clean as usual and lovely and warm. At breakfast on the second morning, there was a fire alarm. As it happens it was a false alarm as the alarms were being tested. However, both the manager on duty and the lady topping up the breakfast offering handled this with professionalism and common sense. We all felt extremely well looked after and quickly returned to our meals. Well done team we had a grest stay.
- Getaway06821903528 (10/5): Happy customers - Barbara at reception was particularly welcoming and helpful! Big car park and attached to a restaurant. Book restaurant as does get busy, especially at breakfast
- 384joannel (6/5): Another Good Stay But…. - This was another lovely stay as we have stayed in this Premier Inn quite a number of times. We were in room 307 on the third floor. On arrival we were greeted well by the receptionist and checking in was very quick. The front lift was broken(always seems to be broken when we visit) but did get fixed before we left so had to use the back one along the corridor. Room was of good standard but needed a dust in places. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice but could have been a bit warmer. Only downside was when I got home I realised I had left a t-shirt in the room. I rang the following morning to ask if it had been found when the room was cleaned but apparently not. I know it is my responsibility to make sure I had everything before we left but I feel as though I was lied to as I 100% know I left it in that room so where did it go. I would have given it top marks but because of this situation I had to give it less.
- michaelhZ9848KS (10/5): Work trip - Wonderful staff on reception especially Barbara, willing to support all customers, friendly environment.
Food good as on meal deal, could do with a bigger range choice.
- SeanA1074 (10/5): 5 Star Stay - Fantastic customer service from Barbara on reception. My companies booking agent hadn’t confirmed my booking for my overnight stay. Barbara quickly and professionally sorted my reservation dealing directly with the agent via telephone. Barbara also helped an elderly gentleman with his check-in at the same time as she helped me, taking her time explaining everything to him in a professional manner.
The bar staff were also great. Very comfortable room. 5 stars from me.
- denisebE6668ZQ (10/5): All good - exactly what was needed! - The booking process was easy, check in was smooth, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Exactly what was needed!
- lukecJ8676RF (6/5): Decent room miserable staff - Room was as expected really snotty woman on reception when checking in though really unwelcoming other than that decent stay good breakfast
- johnnJ6262TD (8/5): Definitely a place to revisit. - The hotel was the best Premier Inn I’ve been in. The Plus rooms were brilliant. Large and airy. A great night sleep. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Well placed for the centre of Chester, a 5 minute walk. Great South Indian restaurant, next door.
- gavinhK3797YM (10/5): Reception - Sharon and her colleague at reception were so helpful and friendly, made are stay very easy and would definitely stay here again.
- markaarons2025 (10/5): Not just another guest. - I stay in many well run prem inns across the UK & you learn to accept a fairly uniform standard with prem inns. "You know what you are paying for". What makes the difference is the interaction from the people and I must say on this occasion Emma (although possibly management and seemed very busy) stood out with her attention to service, took the time and made me feel welcome as a person, not just a number or another guest.
- andyaI9435XP (4/5): Great hotel arrogant staff - A very nice hotel it's a pity the staff who work there are rude ,arrogantly awkward when serving the likes of me who are customers. I thought it was just me but having spoken to other family members the experience was not just shared by me ,not a pleasant experience at all ,if invited to another function there I would decline.
- joshnH6652NK (10/5): Wedding - We arranged for an early check in as we were going to a wedding. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who checked us in promptly. We had a great conversation and she even interacted with the children.
Room was spotless when we went in. There was some treats left for the children which was a great touch. When we came back from the wedding later that night the receptionist was there again to greet us with a genuine interest if we had a good day.
Breakfast is in the restaurant attached very busy on a Sunday morning but plentiful. We would definitely recommend this hotel as were made to feel so welcome.
- Wotnohair (10/5): Ace location - Location is excellent, just a short walk from the railway station and into town. If you drive then be warned that parking on the street and not paying will get you a ticket, or clamped as one person was and on a Sunday. The hotel has a car park so I recommend that you use it. The welcome was friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean. Beds wide and comfortable with tea/coffee facilities. Didn’t use the restaurant so can’t comment on the quality of food. Would I stay here again ? Definitely !
- MarisaS1564 (10/5): Amazing stay - Super comfortable beds and pillows. Right size room. Bathroom with tub. Silence, no outside noises. Perfect for a couple with a baby
- A6294UTmarke (6/5): stole my 3 pin charger on my last visit - needs an update /paint windows it looks very very tired and in need of a lick of paint and new silicone in the bathroom areas
- simonnX5475SO (8/5): Clean and Friendly B&B feel - Fab location for parkrun tourism, only 5 minutes from the start of Chester parkrun.
The hotel is a little tired and needs updating but don’t let this put you off. It’s very clean and the staff are superb. Diane was super helpful and made it feel more like a B&B. Breakfast was brilliant, loads of choice and plenty of it. It’s located next to the Mill pub, which served some good beers and on a bus route into the city and only £4 in an uber.
Definitely be staying there again when we visit our son at Uni
- juliek202 (10/5): Great location for weekend stay it Chester. - Great location for visit to Chester. Rooms clean, comfortable and updated. Lovely welcome and we managed to get in the car park. £30 for 48 hours even with discount code! though I don’t know what other car park prices are like and it is in the city centre really. Lovely weekend break with friends.
- Kjhs50 (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay - A lovely little hotel which is a perfect distance to the zoo and a park and ride.
Staff were so friendly.
The hotel accommodates for breakfast only, but there is a lovely pub next door who serve lovely pub food.
On this occasion on arrival, we were told that there was a problem with the hot water and it was going to be fixed. The lady who was on duty at the time, gave us a breakfast a free breakfast for the next morning. She didn’t need to, but it was a nice gesture :)
Breakfast is lovely too. With a selection of cooked or continental.
There is also a Morrisons around the corner, a great place to get fuel and food if you’re planning on continuing your trip on the road.
Also lots of car parking spaces, but you will need to validate your parking once checked in at the hotel.
Will definitely be booking again :)
- Lew7990 (10/5): Helpful staff - Great stay as usual with our premier inn experiences. Sharon at reception was amazing, went above and beyond with helping me when I lost my hard copy of a speech I was needing! Got it printed out asap for me! She prob would have read it out for me if I had of asked!! 👍🏻 thanks again
- W9277PTtraceyh (10/5): Great location and quite hotel. - Lovely quiet hotel in great location. Onsite food at reasonable prices. Free parking and lovely walk along trans pennine trail to Chesterfield.
- briansV4156AK (10/5): What a lovely welcome from start to finish - Perfect location for meeting up with my friends, as soon as you walked through the door there was a smiling welcoming face. Barbara checked me, asked me if i had had a good journey? She made me feel very welcome and made sure i knew where i going if i wanted a drink or something to eat. I stay in a lot of hotels but i must admit this Premier Inn has the best feel about it and welcome. The room i stayed in was very clean. Spacious and comfortable... the bed was extremely comfortable . Could not fault my stay one little bit, Nothing was too much trouble. I will defiantly be booking again...just wish the Restaurant staff were as welcoming!!!
- petertQ2365EK (10/5): Visit to Chester. - My wife and I stayed at this venue from 18th October until 23rd. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were friendly and welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful.
The hotel is very clean and tidy. The room was perfectly fine for our stay.
The location is perfect for Chester City centre or visiting further afield with plenty of free parking.
We would recommend this hotel and we must give a special thank you to Emma in reception.
- A7904HLdavidh (10/5): Great service! - Carla couldn’t do enough to help me.! Nice clean room and comfy bed. Plenty of parking. The food in the adjoining pub was great.
- suekR2741RX (10/5): Clean and spacious - This was my first time staying in a Premier Inn and I was pleasantly surprised! My room was spacious, modern and extremely clean. Bathroom was small, but modern and spotless.
Great location a few minutes walk into the city centre and one minute walk to the train station.
- 918philipc (8/5): Well done Premier Inn, well done Karen! - Three nights in this very busy hotel. The staff were often under real pressure eg check in, breakfast. All the staff we came across were without exception welcoming and engaging. Particular shout-out for Karen who seemed to be everywhere - a brilliant effort.
As usual, room, cleanliness, and swift response to queries were up to the standard we've come to expect from Premier Inn.
- sandramX2878SG (10/5): Trip to the Peak District! - I stayed here at the end of the six week holidays with my husband and daughter as a little trip to the Peak District before back to school. The rooms were clean and the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. A special mention goes to Sharon who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable as a family. Will definitely be returning!
- M1785EZnickm (6/5): Usual Premier Inn hotel however room smelt of smoke this was meant to be a non smoking room. - Stale smoke smell in room. Wifi not working in room. Breakfast usual but appeared to have been kept hot for excessive time causing eggs to be dried out.
- dave28122018 (2/5): not impressed - very poor cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom, dust everywhere unsanitary bathroom and cup marks on surfaces . expected more from premier inn
- KROB74 (10/5): 5 ☆ budget hotel - Can not fault my stay from start to finish, warm friendly welcome from reception on arrival, lovely clean room.with comfortable beds, reception staff more than willing to help with any queries and clearly had time for their guests.
- 523huwc (10/5): Excellent, service, location and comfort. - My third stay here, excellent location and service, very clean and comfortable, good breakfast, thoroughly recommended.
- Bertybign (10/5): Comfortable hotel NOT close to train station. - The management have really got this place sorted. Everything is thought out and convenient and super-clean. Even the air conditioning worked well which is really quite rare for a big hotel with medium prices. Breakfast buffet had everything that I wanted BUT the fried eggs were replaced with a new platter in front of me yet they were completely cold with hard yolks.!!That is quite an achievement!
I have two criticisms which are not major but were irritating:
1. The standard WiFi was almost non-existent with a speed of 0.25 mb/s. I had trouble downloading even basic emails so had to pay the £5 for super fast speed which was still only 20mb/s.
2. The location is about 300m from the station which was a struggle for me with three heavy cases and a bad hip.
I believe that these two issues are worthy of investigation for mis-representation.
- DaniTravels93 (10/5): Enjoyable Stay! - Lovely little compact hotel next door to Chester station. Modern rooms. Comfy bed. Power shower. Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. There is chargeable on-site parking, however the carpark is extremely small and tight with limited spaces (had to go down an alleyway behind the hotel to find it). Reduced rate of £15 for 24 hours for hotel guests. There is also plenty of chargeable on street parking spaces right outside the front of the hotel. Had an amazing night’s sleep and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- Chris0007 (10/5): Fantastic stay - fantastic staff!! - Visited here with 2 friends, meant to be 3 but unfortunately one was poorly. I must of all first say that upon hearing this the great guy on reception extended the "saver rate" prepay booking on that room for a further 12 months! How fantastic of him thank u very much! Hotel is very new, all rooms are updated and very high standard. Great location - 4 mins walk from train station. Staff at all times are brilliant so friendly. Breakfast is really good, one of the best Prem Inn ones I have had. There is a small carpark under the hotel, not many spaces and first come first served. Even without the room being paid for another 12 months we would def be back!
- 1brindad (8/5): Comfortable and convenient - We stayed for three nights in a Premier plus room. Very good value for money and very convenient for sightseeing.
We had breakfast in the hotel and one evening meal, all good value and good standard of food.
A small criticism was that the entrance had a lot of cigarette butts which needed sweeping up and some corridors needed vacuuming.
A very good stay, very quiet and peaceful with friendly staff
- 533trb (8/5): Mixed bag - Room good, though getting online to better wifi was a faff. Not easy to transfer a 10-character code from email on phone to logging in on same phone. Should be issued on paper at check in. Comfortable bed and decent walk-in shower.
Staff friendly but undermanned, at front desk and in breakfast.
On one evening, heard two separate guests ask for. but not get, a change of room. One because of noisy machinery adjacent to room, other because room smelled of drains. Unlikely that either of these problems was unknown to management beforehand. Would make me hesitate to use again.
- bulldog19 (10/5): One of the best premier inns - One of the best premier inns have stayed at , with the next evolution rooms makes a huge difference , service good and a very good breakfast in great location
- Roundandabout73 (6/5): Mediocre Front of house staff !!! - Right from check in desk unmanned and when pressed desk buzzer no one came for a while
When person then came to assist they looked fed up we buzzed them to assist us then they served 3 people who came in after us that obviously stayed there who came to collect there luggage from behind the counter before they departed
Not an hello or who's first please or any manners at all
That went on throughout our 2 day stay check in for breakfast on the Thursday was another wait to be seated for nearly 5 -10 minutes
Went for breakfast on the Friday said morning to the man talking to the woman chef behind the counter they looked and totally ignored me absolute rude
Positive note young girl with glasses on the Friday morning breakfast check in was very efficient and tentative
Also like to point out cleaners of a morning very friendly and polite a credit to the business you just need to sort out your front of house staff it's not a good selling point to come back just aweful
- TasmynBrown (10/5): Kindness and Comfort at Chester Railway - We had a lovely stay at Premier Inn Chester, made even better by the fantastic staff. Ewan checked us in and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We saw him again later working at the bar, and he took the time to chat and have a laugh with us. A really genuine and personable guy.
Karen, who was also working across reception and the bar, was equally friendly and helpful.
Olivia was another standout. We met her at the bar and again at reception, and she was warm, chatty, and made us feel right at home. The team really added a personal touch to our stay, and we appreciated their kindness and energy.
The room was spotless, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
Breakfast was very good, offering a great selection of hot and cold options, all fresh and tasty. It was the perfect start to each day.
We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Chester! Thank you! x
- grahampU7452VZ (10/5): An excellent stay in Chester. - This was our first visit to Chester. Arriving by train, the hotel was acceptably close to the station and the city centre. Check in was friendly and quick. Our room was very pleasant - clean, comfortable and quiet. Our continental breakfasts were very good and our evening meals and drinks on all four nights of our stay were excellent - well prepared and served by very pleasant staff. We were very happy with this hotel.
- nataliehersnip (8/5): Brilliant value for money! - Lovely modern room. Excellent value for money! Check in was very easy, staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is brilliant just 10/15 minute walk into the centre. Breakfast was very good quality and very good value for money. My only criticism is that some of the common areas were a bit tired. The leather seating in the restaurant was cracked and worn and the floors were sticky. The toilets behind reception weren’t overly clean but this wouldn’t stop me from visiting again.
- PhilP55 (8/5): Premier Inn conveniently located for visits to Chester City Centre. - All you would expect at a Premier Inn, so quite happy with that. There is a pub (The Mill) on the same site but breakfast is served in a modest sized breakfast room within the hotel itself. All good with the usual option of self-serve full English or Continental. However, it would not take that many guests to get packed out.
Decent sized and easily accessible free car park for guests. Adjacent to a Morrisons supermarket which was handy for us, allowing convenient purchase of food and drink for the day's walking activities.
Another plus was the convenient location. A bus stop right outside the hotel with a frequent service to the edge of Chester city centre. Buses running back to the stop opposite the hotel up until around 11pm at night,
- Beckie_R94 (10/5): Will stay here again! - We stayed here as we were visiting Chester Zoo the following day.
All staff were so friendly and we have a little girl, they were excellent with her.
We had breakfast and it was also delicious!
Plenty of car parking and easy to sign your car in at reception so parking was free.
About 8 minutes away from the zoo and easy drive.
Will stay here again when visiting the zoo.
- beverleym822 (10/5): Good stay - Lovely hotel.
Big room . Supply of a fan which was good for me. Yipee
Had the best breakfast this morning than any other prem inn.
Clean tidy. Supply off food always replenished.
Cook breakfast tasty ,again well presented.
Thanks to the 2 lovely ladies running the restaurant.
Deserves a treat.....
Bev and Andy room 101 8.9.25
- Jane-Moomin65 (10/5): Amazing staff going above & beyond! Xx - We came to stay at very short notice, as our son was rushed into the Cardiac ward at the hospital across the road. We had to transact two separate bookings as the website wouldn’t allow us to book 4 consecutive nights and Diane on reception was so kind and meticulous ensuring that we had a lovely quiet room and a seamless stay, minimising the stress for us, not having to transfer rooms.
The room was spotless, with everything we needed, wonderful beds and extra pillows in the room already as required. Again, Diane helped us with breakfast and ensured there was a table reserved for us so that we could visit or son as early as possible.
Thank you to the Manager and to all of the lovely staff, but most especially to Diane whose care, compassion, kindness & dedication to her role made a terribly worrying time far less stressful and bearable.
Thank you Premier Inn and to Diane, we love you, you’re one in a million! Xx
- davros1208 (8/5): Trip to a family wedding at Chester Zoo - The facilities were very adequate for our 3 night stay, though the premises could benefit from a revamp, particularly outside.
- PSH1111 (4/5): Dreadful nights sleep - We arrived at approximately 9pm and on first appearance the hotel looked clean and had plenty of parking. The receptionist was lovely.
On entering the room we were met with very warm humid air as if the shower had been left on.
We propped the door open and opened the window to air the room.
The beds were already made up and my 2 teenage sons chose between the sofa bed and the trunky bed. The latter was not a very good choice, even with just my 9 stone son on it, you could feel every rib and frame through the mattress.
We were too tired (having walked several miles that day) and tried to just get the best night's sleep we could. Throughout the night though the temperature in the room did not drop below 24 degrees even with 2 fans and the window open. We were literally wet through with perspiration, to the extent that at 3am I had to get a shower to cool down and my 2 sons and myself went to sit in the car to cool down (14 degrees outside temp at 4am). We had been waking every 30 minutes to an hour because we were so hot.
Upon passing reception to go to the car, the male night receptionist (who was very understanding) asked us if we were ok and if we were checking our early, but once we had told him the situation he agreed that the heating/fan wasn't working in most rooms and that the desk fans they supplied were inadequate (even on full power). Even reception had several fans on.
He did offer us some refreshments but we declined as we had already drank approximately 2 litres of water each in the night.
We returned to the room a few hours later and even with the door propped open the temperature was unpleasant.
We were booked in for breakfast, which was the usual Premier Inn style, but we were astounded that there were on 30 seats in the breakfast area and even with the booking system, if your party exceeded 4 persons you had to stand and wait till they could find tables to accommodate you (sometimes not together) which was very strange. We heard at least 2 parties complaining.
So not the great night's sleep we have had at other premier Inns.
Why are the mattresses not the same in all premier Inns. The ones at Heathrow are super comfy.
The bathroom door frame was battered and scratched. The bathroom walls were all cracked with screw holes showing. There were wrappers on the floor beside the bed. The desk was wobbly and not secure. The panel behind the TV was also loose and vibrated when you turned the sound on the TV. So we couldn't watch the TV.
We explained all this to the night receptionist and were advised to contact premier inn and leave this revue and he would forward this to the day manager, but nothing could be done.
Not heard anything from the manager and we left at approximately 10am feeling extremely tired.
- B3205NCkatiet (10/5): Fantastic breakfast - Lovely clean hotel and comfy bed, fantastic breakfast and perfectly situated with local amenities just a stones throw away.
- XxAbigailCxX (10/5): Great stay!! Lovely staff - Stayed for a few nights to visit Chester zoo. Staff were really friendly, breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. Room was lovely and clean couldn't fault anything will definitely come and stay here again.
- SarahHarrison693 (6/5): Good location, clean, but hot room was the downside - Nice service, good access to Coventry.
Stayed for a Saturday night, great access to Coventry Town centre with a bus or about 20-25 minute walk.
No aircon which was tricky on a hot day, next to a busy pub. Unfortunately for us someone parked at the pub was beeping on and off for about 30 minutes. As we had to have the window open due to the heat, alongside the noise we didn't sleep well unfortunately. Bed was okay, didn't feel as nice as I remember a premier inn bed...
Room was lovely and clean.
Breakfast room was clean, food was pretty simple stabdard cooked breakfast and some continental, fresh, tasty and was refreshed frequently. Nice staff.
- Siu Lin (10/5): - Excellent breakfast
- Siu Lin (10/5): - No air conditioner
- michellewT896WG (10/5): Lovely - Lovely stay we've just left the hotel clean room good food very friendly staff spoke to Anna and Michelle they were lovely
- LiamCarmen (8/5): No air con but still love premier inn. Travelled with 2 adults and 2 children (1 and 4) - We love premier inn; comfy beds, decent showers and a delicious breakfast where kids eat free! This premier inn is a bit dated and the bathrooms are small with a shower only but still a good premier inn experience. The staff were all really friendly, particularly Heni who was really kind and thoughtful when we had booked a smaller family room rather than the expected big family room. We went to the pub next door for a delicious evening meal which was great and fab for the kids. The main down side was that there was no air conditioning. It was a VERY hot and sweaty day so it was tough without air con. If it wasn’t summer it would be fine but I wouldn’t book again if it was.
- EdwardH1951 (10/5): Another relaxing and enjoyable stay! - Several family members stayed for the weekend of our daughter’s wedding. Diane and the other staff were very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are well appointed and you know what you’re getting with Premier Inn. The integrated breakfast restaurant is excellent.
For us the only downside of Premier Inns in general is the dynamic pricing applied to the online booking but that’s expected nowadays.
- M9241QShelenh (8/5): Very helpful staff - Bed was a little hard but reception kindly gave me a quilt to put on the mattress, which helped.
Room spotless, everything worked. Breakfast plentiful, lots of choice.
And when one of our group was taken ill the staff couldn't have been more helpful, very much appreciated.

Small hotel and well located, just a 5 minute taxi ride from Chester town centre. Highly recommended, would stay again if visiting area.
