Guest Reviews
- hayleyb210 (10/5): Pamela was great with helping us sort our lost parcel, thank you. - Just like to say a big thank you to Pamela. Our engineer left some clothing behind after a visit to Winnersh. After problems with UPS collecting, we got Royal Mail on it and Pamela was a big help, really kind and friendly on the phone.
Thank you from me and our engineer
- Passport52476471995 (6/5): Good bed, but getting expensive with pared down facilities, so now very basic - Vary clean and comfortable beds as always. But prices are going up and can rise significantly between looking for a break and the booking a few days later.
Facilities have been pared back over the years - no shaver socket, no second chair or table, no toothmugs, no tissues, no biscuits, no room service.
You have to ask for more coffee etc, shower mat, extra pillows, extra towels (only one set in room even though booked for two adults)
No case rack so you have to put case on floor or bed to unpack/pack
- SophV1993 (6/5): Don't bother with the meal deal. - So Pam was great during check in and overall service was friendly, however we hit major issues which I am still struggling to resolve.
We were in 235 which is right above the restaurant, first night there was a few bangs, which I put down to other guests. The second night every 20 mins you could hear some slamming, tried to contact reception twice while half asleep with no luck either time. We had to leave early because of this, again tried to contact before leaving and no luck.
Now the restaurant... we had booked to eat there the first night, Pam upsold the meal deal, which is great I used to work at PI I know why they do this and I honestly think the meal deal is a good offer. We bought them for all three nights and asked the PM receptionist (not Pam a young lad) to book tables for us for the next two nights. For whatever reason he didn't, thats ok it happens, but we were told that time wouldn't be available (it was bookable online) because the restaurant does not prioritise meal deals.
While I fully appreciate this is not PI's fault and that of Whitbread's bar and block manager, I do think staff should not be having to upsell something that can't be used at all times. I don't appreciate that they were essentially trying to blackmail us into paying full price so we could get decent service.
To have more flexibility I went to reception and spoke to who I believe was the same staff member who did not book our tables and asked to cancel the last two days of meal deals and the table revs because the restaurant was not allowing us to have the flexibility needed (aka being able to go when we wanted). He confirmed this was done yet I have received a refund for one day not two so now I am chasing up receiving a refund from head office.
I don't know how this staff member usually works however this itself has changed the review from 4 stars to 3 because his error is now causing me to do more work when I made it clear I needed both days refunding.
I hate leaving such a negative review because I did used to work for PI and overall the staff were fine and friendly but this staff member does need some sort of training over actually listening to what customers are saying. I can't believe I am the only one here who has had these issues.
Also please stop upselling meal deals when the restaurant won't properly honour them.
- 278philipw (4/5): sheets dont fit two singles pushed tegether. - accessable room requested a non accesable but they decided to put us in an accessable room. the error was that they pushed two singles together and the sheets and quilt was for kingsize bed which is 5 foot wide rather than 6 foot wide two singles together so sheets and quilt were short. staff said thats all they have. rubbish nights sleep. told they dont normally put beds together in accessable rooms. but they never told use we wanted king size double. premier has offered full refund.
- ovidijusk2025 (10/5): Great Stay - Was lovely stay with clean rooms, comfy beds, and really welcoming staff. Everything ran smoothly from check-in to check-out. I’d definitely stay again!
- nataliebQ1372VO (8/5): Good stay - Great stay for 3 nights. Restaurant brilliant. Parking great. Just very hot room without heating even on. No opening windows
- kikik388 (8/5): overnight stay - It was an overnight stay as we were at a party and finished late, and its a fair distance to where we live, so we stayed at premier inn, place was nice and quiet and beds were comfy.
- hayleygF6774NQ (6/5): Nice stay - Found the hotel to be clean, tidy and well presented. Only down side was the beds are high if you are on the short side. The shower is in the bath which are deep so that was also a challenge for a 5ft tall person - maybe a warning should be visible online. We paid extra for the breakfast, which was ok not great. Food was only warm not hot. Coffee was not very nice.
- X2207PSgregt (10/5): Legoland weekend - Got to say this is the best Premier In I've stayed at so far and I've stayed in quite a few. I don't normally leave reviews but couldn't fault the place so thought I'd leave one this time. We went to Legoland Windsor and stayed here after as it's only about 20mi mins away and near the M4 for the return journey home. The room was very clean and tidy with nothing to fault and the staff were very friendly and helpful and kindly left a hand written note to us wishing us all a good stay with a pack of custard creams, chocolate bars and colouring books with crayons, the boys were thrilled 😄 The restaurant was a a Bar and Block steak house, we had the meal deal and with the upgrades the meal was fantastic and the boys really enjoyed steak from the kids meal which is unusual for kids meals, they loved it. The food was very prompt and the staff were really friendly. The drinks selection was good with some nice IPA's and the 2 for 1 cocktails were cocktail bar worthy, we were very impressed. The morning breakfast was usual cooked to order but way better than usual as was cooked on the steak griddle so very tasty. Had a walk around Dinton County Park which was close by before starting the journey home, was a fantastic stay so thank you
- 146neile (8/5): Great stay - A little out the way but that’s what we like and the pub next door (Old Bell) was excellent.
Staff were so good, especially the young Indian lady who was so helpful.
We had 2 nights for £100 (Thursday/Friday) which was excellent value. It has a park and ride 5 minute drive from the hotel to get into Reading which is invaluable.
The only “issue” was that our bathroom was in need of a little tlc, door looked like it had been chewed at the bottom and we had small bits of mould in a silicone but overall it was ok.
- gracebN4011KX (10/5): Great - The room was clean and perfect for the family. Service was great too, very friendly staff and an easy check in - would come again
- 275gabijaa (10/5): Great Stay - The staff were so professional and friendly. The rooms were tidy and clean. The car park was really big and had a lot of space to park. Overall, the stay was great and I would recommend to others.
- 526gs526 (8/5): Good Premier Inn - Been a few years since we have been here but nothing has changed. Still a good quality hotel. Rooms clean and comfy. Breakfast was tasty. Will come back if in the area.
- Passenger67966372778 (10/5): Good value hotel with plenty of parking and great staff - Good value hotel. Location good for rail (Winnersh Triangle), road or taxi from Reading station (about £20).
Plenty of parking spaces - really important for me as I have a campervan & often struggle to find parking.
Staff are excellent. Special thanks to the breakfast time manager who is really welcoming.
Evening menu is expensive but food is good and well presented.
- Victoria84261 (10/5): Good hotel for Legoland - Great location, half an hour from Legoland. The room was comfortable and a good size.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good.
- ianbS2139MB (6/5): Needs attention to detail. - Just stayed here for 2 nights, staff friendly handy for where we wanted to be. We had room 305 the annoying thing was the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. It did not affect our stay just annoying when everything was dripping water. But if you look at the photo you can probably see why it didn't work.
- Jonboy4969-2 (2/5): WIll Never stay Here again, they do not like the Disabled ! - To say I was shocked at the comments made by one of your staff is an understatement, we always ask for an accessible room as I am unable to get into and out of a bath, regardless of height, all the accessible rooms we had booked in the past and we have booke many MANY times with P/I, have all been wet rooms or flat floor showers etc, we have an account to make it easier and it is on there.
We got to the hotel to be told we had a bath, which I can not get in and out of, but to then have the receptionist stand there and say "let me see if you can get in" and then walk down to the room and attempt to get me a registered disabled person to get in the bath, just to suit her is not only disgusting but illegal.... You can not ask any disabled person if they can or can not do something especially when they have already advised it is not possible.
Yes they offered to change our room the following day, but that was inconvenient as we were out in the morning and only had a 45 minute turnaround to get to an even just up the road for 3pm, so had no time to pack up everything move then get ready and be there in time for the start of the event. They did say they would refund one days breakfast, which was "generous" of them, but I am seriously unhappy. NO ANGRY...
It is hard enough not being able to do the things I want to do, but then to be questioned over what I am able to do or not but a member of staff, then be escorted to the room and told, yes TOLD to get in the bath while she stood there and watched, made my blood boil, I AM SO ****ing angry.
I hate to have to ask my better half to assist me with my ablutions, and I generally never have too, Holiday Inn were really good and did everything that was asked on the booking without any quibble, and stated at the desk on book in, if there is anything about the room thats not right just let us know and we can see what we can do, Travelodge, whom i really do not like, were the same when we had no alternative but to stay with them, nothing for both was too much trouble.
It is really making us seriously consider not using Premier Inn anymore if this is now the way that they treat Disabled customers, and for a hotel that size to allegedly have ONE flat floor shower in the entire place, another of our group was in the same position, only she is in a worse condition then me, they were less than impressed as well.... Disgusting, utterly DISGUSTING. And to say they are an Accessible hotel.. That's a JOKE !
- JulieNundy (8/5): Great hotel overall - This hotel was great overall. Free parking. Rooms were good. Staff were really friendly. Location was in the countryside on narrow roads, but lovely. The restaurant next door was excellent.
- shahalih (10/5): Lovely room and experience - Easy stay and the room was spotless !The manager Ionela was helpful and did the best for my stay to be as comfortable as possible ! Well done
- ConnorHugill5 (10/5): Great experience, nothing to complain about. - Nothing to complain about at all, from check in to check out everything was great from the politeness of staff to the cleanliness of the rooms. I would happily stay here again in the future as I have done in the past.
- Megjane_11 (8/5): Weekend overnight stay - Stayed overnight in a family room. Room beautifully clean. Free parking once you register your car registration when checking in. Buffet breakfast perfect with great customer service - you have to order your hot food from the waiting staff rather than a buffet so allow extra time for this if you’re in a hurry.
Only negative is that we could hear the people in the room above moving around through their floor/our ceiling which was rather annoying as it woke all of the family up before our alarm!
NB: Other than the Bar & Block restaurant & Costa Coffee drive thru downstairs, there is nowhere else to eat within walking distance. (There is a Five Guys drive thru currently being built across the road in front of the Showcase cinema.)
There is a large Tesla electric vehicle charging station less than 1 mile down the road from the Premier Inn.
- juliarC865LF (10/5): A particularly good Premier Inn - I would recommend the Winnersh Premier Inn. Clean, comfortable, well-maintained, quiet room. Large car park with lots of free parking. I didn't eat there, but the steakhouse restaurant looked good. Costa coffeehouse there too.
- F6279BQelaineb (10/5): Attending a wedding at Upton Court about 4 miles away - We booked this Premier Inn as we had a wedding to attend nearby. We were not disappointed, the room was nice and clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. An enjoyable nights stay.
- WhitfieldRuncorn (6/5): Worth noting.... - Ample parking
Comfortable beds
Insufficient towels provided for the number of people in the rooms
It's worth noting that there is no space at the hotel to socialise and relax after the bar shuts at 10pm and the restaurant /bar area is locked at 10.30pm. Leaving only 2 chairs and a few benches located in the foyer right by the door. This was problematic for us as a large family group of 28 that had travelled a distance to meet for a social catch up.
In addition, breakfast must be booked in advance as the adjoining restaurant is open to the public, challenging if you are a large party and want to eat together.
For us it took quite a bit of effort and the assistance of the hotel and restaurant managers to work out a solution for us, which we were very grateful they did to round off our stay.
- Freedom689315 (10/5): Great hotel - Great clean friendly hotel, definitely use again,
Room very clean and fresh,
Plenty of parking spaces
Staff very friendly
- VerbenaGirl (8/5): Nice Premier Inn - This is a nice Premier Inn. The standard you would expect, with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Ample parking, which is always good. Ideal place for us to stay when dropping child at Reading Uni, or visiting them - on just the right side of Reading and without the hassle of the town centre.
- kerrywW9752MG (4/5): Grim - Very shabby, needs a refurb. More like a nursing home than a hotel. Funny smell to corridors. Very warm, on a noisy road but had to have windows open. Bathroom grubby. It wasn’t cheap or cheerful
- 759bukolaa (10/5): Excellent experience 👏 - Liam is a very friendly and well professional staff.
Also helpful in the information needed about transportation in this area.
- B5113JZvickil (10/5): Exceptional staff - Stayed 2 nights for my brothers funeral. Just want to say a huge thank you to Dan in the bar/restaurant, he was amazing, helping my elderly parents and is a real credit to Premier Inn.
- marksV810JS (10/5): Helpful staff - Nice hotel, staff always very helpful, rooms to usual Premier Inn standard, clean and tidy, will definitely be using again
- M6636WPemilyb (10/5): Nice stay - The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the staff very friendly. The location was also perfect for me as it was quite during the night.
- M3895RTbenjamins (10/5): Great stay, would recommend! - Good stay, would recommend. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was nice.
The beds were comfortable and rooms were neat and tidy.
Car park had many vacancies. Reception team were extremely professional and kind!
- 421emma25 (10/5): Ideal - Great location, with fabulous steakhouse one side and Costa the other. 10 minute walk to station and other pubs. Not far from the main centre. Easy to find, book and check in/out. Overall good value for money and no issues. Would happily book again.
- 385philiph (6/5): Pleasant but not very comfortable. - I found the hotel easily having stayed before about two years ago.
Checking in was easy and the staff were helpful and pleasant.
What wasn't so good was the height of the bed. I am only 5'3" and climbing into the bed proved challenging.
The pillows supplied were too high.
I prefer a flatter pillow to avoid neckache. Other pillows were available, but they were all similar.
My patner had a fall resulting in bleeding (this was not on hotel property). Informed the. Reception and requested that the bedding was changed. The bedding was changed by turning the mattress round and over. So the dried blood was still present but not visible.
- mum21kent (6/5): Poor quality breakfast - Excellent upscale room, with excellent facilities. Spotless and bed was super comfy.
Breakfast however was awful. Not enough choice re fruit. Not enough staff. Quality of cooked breakfast very poor. Asked for eggs well done and they came out runny.
- I7612FWhelenj (8/5): Sarah is fantastic! - Stayed here for a week with work, the rooms are very clean, staff are so friendly and can not do enough for you.
Every morning Sarah greeted us so warmly and friendly we felt like she was a friend. Sarah is an absolute credit to this business. We are back in October for another week . Highly recommended.
- homeawayfromhome543 (8/5): Short Break at Premier Inn Rainham - Clean lovely hotel. The staff were soo nice especially Monica.
However I gave 4 stars because I booked a premium plus room and the description claimed that a bathrobe and slipper was included in the room. However upon arrival I found that the premium rooms do not provide this at this Premium inn. My point being everything described on line must be as described in the room. The room also had aircon which was great.
- J5751QIedwardj (10/5): Lovely stay - Had a lovely stay here with my family this summer.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in or around the area.
- lizp996 (8/5): A pleasant stay - Firstly the positives: I travelled there bank holiday weekend arriving later than expected on the Friday.Reception staff are lovely, in fact all the staff are lovely
Room was clean, bed comfy, plenty of car parking
I ate in the restaurant and the staff were very accommodating as I hadn’t booked but it was quite in there. Food was okay, don’t expect top notch because it isn’t but a big shout out to my server Sophie she was lovely and very attentive
Negatives: shower door couldn’t move so had to step into the bath to turn taps on. The room was warm but there was a fan, this hotel doesn’t have a/c but it does state that. Rooms are no longer cleaned daily unless you request it before 12
The last night I was there there were a lot of kids hanging around the rear car park which was worrying. Yes the hotel is on a main road but the boy racers were out in force that night until 3 in the morning but this isn’t the hotels fault it was just incredibly noisy
Would I stay here again… most definitely
- 588lisay (8/5): Good stay on our way to our holiday! - We stayed at the Reading South Premier Inn to break up our journey to Cornwall. The lady on reception was really friendly & helpful. Our room was clean except for part of the bathroom door which had clearly got wet & started to rot a bit.
We had a perfect nights sleep & went to the restaurant the next morning for breakfast.
I firstly, have to say that the young man Josh who was serving was absolutely amazing! Despite the fact that he was completely rushed off his feet trying to serve numerous guests (some of which were moaning & being quite rude), he remained extremely polite & helpful. He is a real credit to your business!
The management should not expect just one member of waiting staff to cope with the number of guests who were there for breakfast that morning!
Well done Josh!
From Mrs Youngs, Miss Fuller & Matilda!
- lynnmF7433JP (2/5): Hell would have been cooler - Bed comfy, room was unbelievably HOT worst nights sleep this year by far, had a shower to cool off... mistake the water was set to medium scald or boiling..
Food in restaurant was below par at best. Breakfast was burnt, slow to arrive and lots of items unavailable including but not exclusive to. Apple juice, water, muffins and croissants. The evening food was ok but the service was poor the staff were slow, forgetful and at times just incompetent. In the end we asked our server to let us know what was available as he kept telling us "sorry were out of that" then after taking our dessert order.. after 45 minutes I had to ask if my son was going to get his ice cream sunday... "oh yes mam I will bring that out shortly" I could understand if they were busy but there was 2 other tables to be served in the entire restaurant. Very disappointing service from both hot hotel and restaurant will not be staying again.
- 571nadiner (2/5): Really disappointed - Hotel is ok but quite dated and no air con. Bathroom door worn away at the bottom and shower had no full door, so the water leaked from the shower, mould in the bathroom ceiling. Was with a big group and the majority of the group had their tables pre booked at the restaurant, they all had their tables cancelled for absolutely no reason whatsoever, we’re talking a lot of kids and parents which resulted in them having to drive into reading unnecessarily. A group of 7 of us 2 families with 2 lots of parents and 3 kids still ate there, we booked our own table, and it was completely empty, apart from around probably 4 other tables of people eating at the other side of the pub, our side was totally empty just us ! We asked could we add a small table to add to our table for our friend and his son, and was told no, which was madness cos it was totally empty!! They would have lost out on £100’s & £100’s of pounds by cancelling all the bookings, complete joke! Food was average, we booked breakfast and they had no record of our booking, couple of chairs in the pub were dirty and just really not the best of experiences unfortunately.
- 62farrahg (10/5): Family birthday - Lovely central and clean hotel. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.
Parking was perfect for our disabled car. Free ice pops for kids too!
- Navigate183061 (2/5): Vans left at owners risk - A very bad experience
at this site.
Vans broken into for work tools happen quite often at this site
id never stay here again
ive since looked at reviews from previous customers that have experienced the same
8 vans broken into in one early evening happening under your nose
- snejam2025 (10/5): Great experience - Great hotel, excellent service, very friendly staff.
A special thank you to Suleyman for being a brilliant host and keeping kids entertained!
Thank you and we'll definitely be back 🙂
- Rices65 (10/5): Typical Premier Inn Stay - Used this hotel visiting family in Reading and a event at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, easy location for the coach pick up at Winnersh Triangle train station. Easy transport links with local buses and trains. Easy location to get to by car. We didn't eat any food at the local restaurant next door. Good stay overall what you expect when you book a Premier inn.
- X6143JWmargarets (10/5): Great place to stay - Lovely upgraded rooms (including a fridge and a coffeemaker!) Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. What more can you ask for.
- Davemont6 (10/5): A real treat awaited me - A much appreciated birthday gift with left in the room. The staff are very friendly and the room was of an exceptionally high standard
- Asim85 (8/5): Had a lovely stay - Had a lovely stay here for 2 nights. Typical Premier Inn experience (which is a good thing) and the hotel was clean and conveniently located for our weekend break. Then only downside was a lack of air conditioning for what was a very hot summer's night but a fan was provided without any fuss. Staff were super friendly and made sure we had every we needed. Parking is free which is a bonus
- 757bobu (6/5): A hotel with a 'shabby' vibe - We arrived and checked in fine. One of the beds had not been made, the bathroom was pretty dirty and it was very hot - a product of no air conditioning.
The outside also stank of sewage, not the most welcoming smell when you first turn up.
The location is decent, nice and quiet out of the way - a real rural vibe.
We were disappointed to find the breakfast was not a buffet - but was still unlimited so not too bad as we could order as much as we wanted. The continental selection was..ok. Quite an awkward ambiance with no music playing and only a few of us in there.
I think they need to close this place for a while and refurbish it, with cleaner new rooms and modern facilities like A/C. I've already written a review for the shocking experience we had in the evening at the pub next door.
I would consider staying again - but only if the standards matched the price.
- shaunl954 (6/5): My stay in Reading. - Hotel is a bit dated, I was there for 3 nights in June 25, room was quite big, comfortable bed, heating and cooling in room was good, walk in shower, bad points shower leaked water into the Bathroom and was a bit mouldy, the cleaning of the room not the best, paintwork was dirty and could do with repainting but for the price it was passable, the pub which is close by the Bell was good, breakfast was good and hygiene of 5, some good choice of beers.
- SnowdropGinger (8/5): OK for a comfortable stay. Friendly Staff. Could do with upgrading. - Great welcome by reception staff and efficient check-in. On the surface the room was good and spacious but there are some areas that need attention, the bathroom particularly needs a refurb as the door was worn at the bottom from damp, the bottom of the shower screen was a bit unpleasant as was the grout on the tiles. These are not cleaning issues as they would not improve with a basic clean unfortunately, and the overall standards of cleanliness for the shower tray, sink, and the bedding/towels was excellent.
The toiletries (soap and shower gel/shampoo) were a decent brand. Could do with a toilet brush :)
The bed was comfortable and clean but two pillows would have been nice. The rooms are far too warm (for May) but they have provided a modern and quiet fan. The WiFi is really slow. There were some cobwebs lurking! :)
I know it is a budget hotel but the coffee provided in the room is the cheapest type possible (I always bring my own for that reason).
The carpark was very spacious.
I would stay again but I do feel that this Premier Inn needs some attention.
I will review the Old Bell separately (which does the breakfasts) but thought it was excellent.
- Monica4498 (2/5): Has gone to the dogs! - Awful experience. The receptionist was really unhelpful with extremely standard and reasonable requests like booking breakfast the following day which is served at the pub next door. She did not tell us that breakfast finished at 09:00 and did not communicate our booking with them. When we turned up they did not have our booking and we had to show them our receipt, which we fortunately had. They then asked us for our copy of our receipt that as they said that they needed to prove that we had paid. Leaving us with nothing for our records!
After all that faff we were finally served our cold and underwhelming breakfast at 08:40 only to be old minutes later that we had to hurry up as the restaurant had to be locked up at 09:00!
Not exactly welcoming.
This place has seriously going down hill and needs to be looked at by management, particularly the lady who was on the desk on Wednesday evening.
Another issue is that they have guide dogs for the blind dogs being trained in the hotel. No problem, we love dogs. But the smell in the carpark of dog faeces is quite overwhelming. Would not have liked to have been in a room facing the car park on the ground floor.
- masklin (4/5): No aircon and very poor internet - The room was very hot, with no aircon and the window barely opened. They had provided a fan, but it wasn't much use. The internet connection was very poor so a conference call I was on kept cutting out. There was also a faint sewage smell in the room.
- 210philipl (8/5): Good value but let down by breakfast - Good price and reasonable prices. No Aircon but not an issue in May,
Only issue was breakfast. On 1st day poached eggs were done ok. 2nd day they were hard in the middle. So on the 3rd day I asked for runny poached eggs but still hard. All 3 days I asked for Gluten Free toast but each time I got warm bread . barely toasted.
No lacto free free milk at breakfast for teas / coffees - when I asked they said they dont provide it which is rare as most places provide that now
Overall the stay was good - just a disappointing breakfast
- sonyasO198QE (10/5): Highly recommend - Highly Recommend this Premier Inn.
I booked my room at very short notice due to change in work schedule. The room was clean and warm, bed very comfortable, i had a peacefulnights sleep.
The staff were very polite, friendly and accommodating.
- manicmummyG (6/5): Suitable - Bed was really comfortable and room and bathroom clean.
WiFi was awful, kept dropping off. Unable to connect more then 1 device at a time and was not great for working.
Pub on site was lovely, service in there was superb. Food was lovely drinks were very well priced.
- O1638LJkhalidk (4/5): Poor breakfast experience - The hotel itself was fine and what’s expected for a premier inn. However we booked breakfast in the morning and when we met up with family to eat, the booking they made at reception desk didn’t make it to the pub where the food is provided so the rest of the family was turned away. The hotel blamed the pub and the pub blamed the hotel. They both stated they were not associated and rather than resolve they just blamed each other. This had a big impact on our onward plans.

- danniw2013 (10/5): Best Premier Inn I have stayed in for a long time - One of the best Premier Inns I have stayed in. The rooms are clean, nice sized rooms, good in-room facilities too.
Ricky the manager is very friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. He’s a gem!
Plenty of tea and coffee if you need more!. Couldn’t fault my stay at all. Have stayed here several times for work and have always been impressed.
