- Eda (10/5): - Greats
- 224sandye (10/5): WELL DONE MANAGEMENT AND STAFF 👏 - We have been travelling around Wales, Devon and Berkshire for the last 2 months …
This PREMIER INN Caversham Bridge was by far the BEST we stayed in compared to 6 others we stayed in.
CLEAN … COURTEOUS STAFF … GOOD LOCATION
WELL DONE MANAGEMENT AND STAFF … 5 STARS
- GarySussex (8/5): Enjoyable Stay - Clean, comfortable room and an excellent breakfast at the Beefeater Inn next door. Special thanks to the very friendly receptionist who solved our problem with the fire alarm!
- 1147sandyt (10/5): Great place to stay and breakfast the best. - Wonderful place to stay. Shanki (not sure of the spelling) on reception was so helpful and friendly. The room we were allocated was quiet and as usual the bed so comfortable. Great night sleep. Big Thankyou to Jorge, Veska (great cooked breakfast) and Judith (so attentive and helpful). Overall a great place to stay.
- Z650CHkatarzynal (10/5): City break - I have nice short city breal with my husband, lovley location nice area for a walks next to the river, staff was helpfull and was warm welcome
- adamgR2446RU (10/5): Short break - From arrival to departure Staff was nice helpful room was clean by reguest on the morning rooms was nice and clean ,front car park was full but back car park have a lot space
- katarzynagA4627MF (10/5): Nice short break - Nice hotel good short dostanie to Harry Potter Laura ,Marta,Natalia make our stay very nice and comfy clean good size room
- paulinekG9135AR (8/5): Catch up with friends - Nice clean room . Parking hood and close to hotel . Restaurant a lovely old water mill but seats and tables not very comfy to sit and have a drink and chat . Food perfectly fine .
- 491nmw (10/5): A great place to end a long working day! - A great location: easily reached but rural and relaxing. Comfortable rooms, free parking. The multilingual desk staff are polite, helpful and extremely competent. The attached Beefeater restaurant has a diverse and delicious range of dishes, prepared to a very high standard.
I have stayed here several times now, and never left unsatisfied.
- johnhA5810ZQ (10/5): A good night's sleep - Only a one stop over but such friendly helpful staff. A very warm welcome from reception on arrival and departure. Lovely comfortable room. Plenty of tea and coffee available.Would stay there again if in the area.
- michaelkV9081WH (8/5): Poor breakfast experience. - The hotel had plenty of free parking and was ideally situated just a ten minute walk from the city centre. Our check in was friendly and efficient.
The room was exactly as you would expect from a Premier Inn. Large well equipped, tastefully decorated, and spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was unfortunately disappointing falling very far from the usual standard we have cone to expect from a Premier Inn. After being seated had to wait nearly 30 minutes for someone to take our order. Then the waitress disappeared for more than 20 minutes leaving nobody in the dinning room. Due to the absence of any staff in the dinning room my wife had to go to the service hatch to retrieve our breakfasts. The breakfast itself was actually very nice. It was just a shame the service was so poor.
Overall our stay was pleasant it was just a shame the breakfast service was so poor.
- notthatfussy007 (10/5): Julia is amazing - Julia is top notch. Night support was 5*. Helped us order some food and was understanding of our midnight munchies. Room is standard and facilities are as you expect.
- T1062RNalang (10/5): Pay rise for Julia - The receptionist Julia was absolutely fantastic, extremely helpful, and deserves a pay rise to at least £25 an hour for being so professional
- Christopher (8/5): - Budget hotel, better than most
- NialO58 (8/5): Always a pleasure to stay at a Premier Inn. - Premier Inn brand always pleases. Not looking for a luxury hotel but clean, comfortable, accessible more important. Happy to recommend.
- janemG9139TW (8/5): Not great - Slightly offhand reception even though we had booked early booked in. Bedding was much too heavy. Should have feather bedding. No bananas at breakfast
- TheVaxary (10/5): Very convenient and quiet overnight stay. - Arrived late but so was quite tricky to find in the dark. The night lighting was a bit dull but no real problems. Really good welcome and the chap said that he was available all night if there were any problems/queries.
The room was excellent as expected and a good size. Quiet enough and so I got a good nights sleep.
Really convenient for the M25 without being too close.
Definitely would stay again.
Thankyou.
- actiongirl5 (2/5): We were given the worst room in the whole hotel. - Having stayed at this hotel several times previously we opted to stay once again having to attend an event close by. Check in was very good and a friendly service as always but the room was terrible. Firstly the toilet seat in the room was from a childs toilet and made to fit an adults toilet. However unfortunately it didn't fit and when you flushed the toilet everything that went down the toilet would be fired out of the pan and that was evident as the edge of the pan was not clean from the previous person. I had to clean the toilet again with my Wetones. Having seen this I reported it immediately to reception we received an apology but we could not be moved rooms as there were no other rooms.....the hotel was fully booked. The best that could be done was our breakfasts were refunded. I guess that was the best that could be done and we are no unreasonable people we remained having travel 4 hours to get to Reading and being completely exhausted.
As soon at it got to 9pm there was none stop traffic coming and going from the Toby Carvery next door. In fact our room 309 over looked the pub and it felt like during the night we were inside the pub we were that close and it was so loud. People attending the pub were not considerate and we heard loud laughing, shouting from groups leaving the pub and this continued for hours. Then once the pub had closed for the night we had the added bonus of then being kept up by people who had been out all night coming back. Banging, doors slamming you name it it was a one stop shop of activity whilst we were trying to get tot sleep for an early start.
To then compound on top of this the glazing in the windows stop no noise at all and the road that was only a few metres from this room was relentless through the night and I actually thought the window was open at one point but it wasn't. Whether the window is open or closed it makes very little difference. We had none of the above issues staying in other rooms in this hotel on a Friday night.
The housekeeping in the room was limited, room extremely dusty under the bed with rubbish left from previous customers, dust around the edge of the room almost like only the centre of the room was hoovered and the lots of dust found all over the bathroom almost like the same cloth was used all over the bathroom dragging debris from one area to another.
We did not request for another room as there were no rooms so we were informed earlier in the evening. Also at breakfast there was no colleague on reception to log our complaint and we waited.
It is rarely we have a poor stay in a Premier Inn but this one was particularly terrible for whatever the reason but this hotel needs a good shake up. It was a horrible stay as we remained sleep deprived and exhausted all day at the event for 8 hours then had a 4 hour journey home. Thank you Premier Inn will not return to this one and we would like a refund.
- jamescJ5609XW (2/5): Truly terrible - Receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Experience was worst I have ever had in a Premier inn. TV needed to be fixed, USB sockets did not work. Inadequate single heater left room freezing. Nearby beefeater was terrible. Food flavour is best described as stale oil, which fitted nicely with the drinks served in jars. I am sure this was seen as rustic thematic. If so make it clear on website. Will actively avoid on my next trip to area.
- anthonyjF787HH (8/5): Good Location - Very good location for Caversham, river and walking to Reading railway station, lots of buses, good car park. Nice views at the back towards the river.
- Charlotte_W190758 (10/5): Great experience, best premier inn I’ve stayed in - A good, efficient, clean, comfy and friendly stay. We had a twin room, stayed with my teenage son, room was plenty big enough for a weekend. Lovely hot shower. Plenty of room in car park on Friday and Saturday night (the website does warn it gets full but it wasn’t a problem for us). Very comfy beds. The staff were friendly and helpful - also on the phone the week before. Breakfast was simple but freshly cooked and plenty of toast, pastries etc.. plus free for my son which made it very good value. Allergies happily and carefully accommodated. Can’t fault it really. Don’t know what area around hotel was like because we were out in the chilterns all day but it seemed pleasant enough and the rooms are all well insulated from noise - very quiet. Best premier inn I’ve stayed in.
- V9610ZNkirstyb (10/5): Perfect - Great location for getting around with a good car park.
Welcoming atmosphere, bright and open reception.
Room was great, clean, comfortable and airy. Lovely bed in a new style room; fabulous.
Great value, enjoyed every moment of my stay.
- jessC4998LU (4/5): Good hotel awful eating place - HOTEL WAS GOOD AS ALWAYS BUT DO NOT EAT AT THE MILL. It used to be excellent but whether it has changed Chef`/ staff this time it was embarassingly awful1 We met guests there and assured them it was good but it was NOT!
- Explore29794981499 (10/5): Food phenomenal - Premier inn staff really friendly and rooms are perfect. I’m mainly writing this review to praise the cook in the restaurant. I’m on my forth night having the mixed grill. Always cooked to perfection and great quality meat. Can’t fault it…. Found out the cooks name is Jorja. Currently sat waiting for my 5th Mixed grill
- 467louisaf (10/5): Made to feel welcome - We stayed at this premier inn for 2 nights. We were made welcome on arrival and at breakfast. At breakfast the staff put tables together so we could sit with our friends. The room and the breakfast were both good.
- nigelo495 (2/5): Lack of supplies and surroundings carpark not great q - Got there late on friday night from airport with hired car 4 adults as soon as we pulled into carpark noticed a load of empty canisters left behind by junkies (see pics) and as it was hired car didnt feel happy leaving car there and never slept that night
Next morning we had early start & arrived at breakfast (prepaid) only to be told there was no
Eggs
Mushrooms
Tomato's
Butter
Pudding
Coffee
Fresh fruit
Brown bread
And more
As we wer in an event to attend we rushed on through an wer told tomorrow would be different so got up Sunday and no food again so we rushed off to the airport to get fed
NOT FOR ME !!!
- dregray (2/5): Disastrous and very disappointing - The hotel was entrance was poorly signed and unlit, so even the local taxi drivers missed it. The approach to the car park was full of potholes. The restaurant and bar were poorly staffed and hardly any food available, so we decided to get a taxi into town to eat but the complimentary taxi phone in reception wasn't working and, apparently, hotel staff don't book taxis for guests. We waited 15 minutes to get served in the bar and then sat outside in the garden just as the maintenance man turned up to start jetting a blocked drain. The bar staff, when they eventually bother to turn up to serve you, either can't add up, or don't know the prices of the drinks they're serving. We used to live locally, so we know this place very well. Oh boy, has it gone downhill. Never, ever again!
- s2rmsd (2/5): Bad experience - Had no heating for 5 days and bedroom was never cleaned and the food was terrible only some items and staff was rude I got swear at by the staff members also had no water they also refused to move me they said they had no rooms but they did have room they keep me in that room for 5 day now I have a cold
- 342jamesw (6/5): It will do - The room wasn't bad, comfortable with the amenities you would expect from a Premier Inn. It was let down by the extremely slow WiFi and complete lack of mobile phone reception. It is also rather remote with the need for a car to get anywhere.
The receptionists were very pleasant, especially Natalia who could not have been nicer and more helpful.
If you are staying here, I severely recommend avoiding the beefeater as it is absolutely terrible, and although it is not run by the hotel it is still linked through the menus and the paid breakfast (which we had to have refunded because it was just awful).
Overall an okay stay but nothing special in the slightest.
- 301kathb (8/5): Good, quiet location - Quiet and convenient location. Friendly receptionist on arrival. Good, cooked to order, breakfast. Extra tea, coffee sugar available at reception
- AndyP1998 (10/5): Very welcoming - Premier Inns are our hotel brand of choice in the uk and this is undoubtedly one of the best ones. Book in advance to get the best rate and months before we arrived the hotel was sold out. About a 15 minute walk to the train station then a high speed link to London Paddington. Reception staff very welcoming and helpful on our arrival. We hadn’t booked a premier plus room but their computer said we had so we were naturally impressed with our ground floor room. The cooked to order breakfast is outstanding and makes this hotel stand out over other Premier Inns mainly who do buffet breakfasts. Special thanks to the midweek breakfast server. She was friendly efficient and nothing was too much for her to do
- Camper66956166113 (8/5): Lovely place to visit - We have stayed in this hotel before as it's close to a place we visit when we come down from our home in the North. it's pleasant, clean, quiet (despite being next to the M25) and the staff are always friendly. The moor Mill pub next door is nice and has a good atmosphere with a big beer garden. Nice comfortable stay overall.
- thomas095 (2/5): Disgusting and poor service - avoid! - This is the first time in ten years of staying in Premier Inns for both business and leisure that I’ve had to leave a bad review.
Upon arriving, there was nobody in reception whatsoever. Interestingly, the review below mine says the same! It felt like an abandoned hotel. We waited for about 20 minutes - we pressed the buzzer numerous times, we knocked on the office door and even telephoned the hotel, but nothing. If I had already checked in and needed help or had a query I would’ve been fuming at the total lack of any staff presence. Eventually we gave up and after a two hour drive we were fed up of waiting so walked into town to kill some time.
Upon returning we were pleased to finally see that someone had materialised on reception. Jorge checked us in, and although he was polite and helpful, he offered no explanation for what happened earlier and simply apologised.
We got into our room to find that it was disgusting. It clearly had not been hoovered, the furniture was stained and the bathroom was dirty and covered in hairs.
Returning to reception Jorge told me that they were fully booked but that he would try to move us into a room that someone hadn’t checked into yet. We wouldn’t have stayed otherwise, but he did find us another room across from the corridor.
Although slightly better, this still left a lot to be desired. It overlooked a bizarre, old terrace that was in such a state of disrepair and covered in rubbish. The toilet was also covered in limescale so looked filthy, and the bathroom floor had to be wiped to clear the hairs and cobwebs.
Despite being advertised as a ‘new generation’ hotel, we were incredibly let down. We have stayed in much older, but cleaner, Premier Inns and I would much prefer this.
We had grown tired of trying to fix the situation and just settled in for the night. The corridor stunk of cannabis and also had not been cleaned. Given the state of the hotel you really doubt how well it’s been looked after, so when I woke in the night feeling itchy my first and terrifying thought was could it be bedbugs. Obviously we didn’t feel like we could have breakfast here, and instead checked out asap.
There was again nobody on reception to discuss this with. Upon returning home I contacted customer services through their contact form, and completed the feedback form. A few days later I received a strange email that addressed none of my points at all, so I contacted them again. I have heard absolutely nothing, hence this review.
I would have given 2 stars for the ample parking and the proximity to the centre of Reading, but given the total lack of customer service it can only be 1 star, if not less. It is worth noting that this wasn’t even a cheap stay and cost just shy of £150 for one night!
Find another hotel and stay elsewhere! I will not be returning, and I will have to consider other hotel chains in future now unfortunately.
- 47carmely (10/5): Off chance stop - Had a last min stop over. Must say spotlessly clean. Very welcoming. Would stay again. Had great nights sleep. Good value
- 74wendya (10/5): Great stay - What a lovely place to stay...stopped over night as seeing family...staff and accommodation absolutely fantastic.. will stay again
- connorwL7392OQ (10/5): A Hidden Gem! - What a little hidden gem this place turned out to be. We had a 3 and a half hour drive from Runcorn. When we arrived, we saw the little stream that runs around the hotel and thought it was lovely. We were greeted by a lovely lady on the front desk who explained everytbing to us from where the room was and what times the breakfast was. The room itself was exactly what we have come to expect from a Premier Inn. Very clean, comfy and welcoming. We were skeptical to try the Beefeater on site as there were a lot of mixed reviews. I am glad we did. It was lovely! Set in an old mill, it has a very rustic feel to it. They have a lot of the original milling equipment on display. That was interesting to see! The wait staff were all so, so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Took our food orders promptly and we were served delicious, piping hot food. The desserts were amazing as well. All in all, a perfect little stay on our way to Harry Potter World. A lovely stay in a lovely location! I wouldn't hesitate to use again!
- StripeyShrimp (10/5): Stunning scenery, good food and a lovely quiet location. - I did a lot of research before booking this hotel and read a lot of reviews, a lot of which put down the hotel because of the Beefeater pub nextdoor.
We however, found the hotel fabulous. Exactly what you’d expect from a Premier inn, lovely and welcoming front of house staff, large comfortable high up bed, large room, tv, charging ports and a lovely en suite bathroom. The charging ports threw me off slightly as they were actual USB’s next to the bed which did cause a slight issue due to having a USB-C to USB-C charger but we were able to get around this by using the plug socket at the end of the bed with an extension lead.
The shower was exceptionally clean albeit not very powerful which was a little disappointing but didn’t ruin our stay.
We were skeptic about the Beefeater next door due to the reviews but decided to give it a try anyway for our evening meal. The staff were lovely, food was delicious and hot and it wasn’t too expensive given the location. The pub is part of an old mill which has the history of it posted downstairs when you enter the bar it also has old milling equipment on the second floor.
Upstairs is where you’re seated for food, so unfortunately not very accessible due to the age of the mill (being built in 1086 there’s no lift access but downstairs is completely accessible although not sure about the toilets as I didn’t use them there). The scenery around the mill is beautiful and considering you’re not far from the motorway you can barely hear it, there’s a lovely walk around the river that the mill uses and a huge beer garden out the back of the pub also.
In short it was a lovely stay and we will definitely be coming again.
- neile810 (2/5): Nice hotel but let down by very poor management - Arrived at the hotel and had to go and find someone to check as they didn’t answer the bell
When they finally got there was told the bar had no beer some excuse about supplier issues no where does this mention on on the website
When we tried to book another premier we where told we would have to pay for both this is absolute disgrace the management didn’t care
After travelling and staying in lots of other places this is the worst I’ve ever stayed the restaurant was likely was open but had to pay for a bottle of wine as they hadn’t much else to offer
How ever the food was good and waitress very nice this is the only saving grace
- CEW1974 (10/5): Great Premier Inn - Probably one of the best PI I have stayed in. Such friendly staff and efficient service. Clean rooms, comfy bed. Breakfast delicious and service excellent
- loupykeen (10/5): Nice and clean - Lovely hotel , reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room was exceptionally clean , nice and quiet. Had the best nights sleep the mattress was so comfortable . We didn’t have breakfast as the breakfast area looked not very inviting! . But there is Toby cavery next door which done a lovely breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel .
- dawlishtraveller (10/5): Equivalent standard to top five star hotels - What stands out the most about this hotel is their exceptional staff. They were ALL incredibly helpful, friendly and supportive. I couldn't fault any of them. A credit to Premier inn.
The room itself was also very high standard. The shower was amazing.
I had a continental breakfast, the choice was so good.
Will definitely return here.
- littlelune (8/5): Clean, convenient, friendly - It was ideal for visiting family nearby.
Hotel was cleaner than many (the room even smelt of cleaning product) and the staff were unusually fantastic. Room and lift were a little tight to get a wheelchair into and needed a second person to help with reversing. There was no aircon in the room, unfortunately, and the heating unit refused to stay at a temperature lower than 22º, which made it uncomfortably toasty. It was lovely to have a table and chairs to eat at - go around to the Mauritian place on Caversham Road if you want awesome food (they also do breakfast) and we got to see a red kite from the window. There's a shower rather than a bath in the ensuite, which may be easier to use but the bed is impossibly high but very comfortable. There are plug points next to the bed, handy for chargers. The headboard is fabric and already starting to smell dusty, bear this in mind if you have asthma or allergies. Unusually a menu of breakfast items was provided in the room but the vegetarian/vegan breakfast items are all soya-based.
