Guest Reviews
- robmac1957 (8/5): Clean and Comfortable - Stayed 3 nights and it was fine, clean, comfortable and good service. The staff were friendly and it was ver6 reasonably priced.
- sam220780 (10/5): Superior comfort and cleanliness - Fantastic value, superior comfort, and fantastically clean. All staff were friendly and efficient. I have to say though the comfort was outstanding, I’ve not slept like I did here in years, a blissful sleep, so much so I want to purchase a premier inn mattresses but sadly can’t afford it. The hotel is situated next to a kfc drive thru and my room was right next to this but once those curtains were drawn you wouldn’t have known, there was no annoying light creeping in and no noise.
Highly recommend.
- f7melx (4/5): find somewhere better - Not a good impression. Dirty freezing cold rooms. Dirty bathroom. meal choices limited - they put this down to lack of staff
- Voyage687971 (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic. Our 3rd visit.
Superb location. Great rooms and food. Staff service exceptional. Nothing too much trouble. Friendly professional and accommodating.
- Guest8902022 (10/5): A good Hotel in Douglas - I had a good experience staying here and I had read a few unpleasant reviews so was a bit wary. Room was very clean and quiet with great air conditioning, Nespresso coffee, fridge, comfortable bed and lovely helpful staff. It’s opposite Marks & Spencer’s so if you want a night in you can buy beautiful nibbles from across the road. A stones throw from the sea too. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Torchiewood (10/5): great stay in a great hotel - Absolutely brilliant hotel having had only 2 to 3 hours sleep the night before we arrived at the hotel pretty moody and groggy but the assistant Manager was absolutely brilliant. Definitely an asset to the hotel they stay in the hotel was good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone excelled at what they did
- 940michaelc940 (10/5): Good value as always. - I finally found the car park after following directions from Sat Nav and no gate for entrance security but plenty of spaces. Woman on reception a little abrupt but that was just bad luck.Room wonderful .We were there two days.Only problems were a difficult to work coffee machine and a somewhat temperamental heating system.(fan blowing cold sometimes when heat on)These niggles do not effect my view that the stay was great value for money.Great location on waterfront and within walking distance of town centre.Ive been with Premier many times and failures occur when bad staff.
- carolcE4969QM (10/5): Clean, comfortable and welcoming - Great stay hotel was clean and the room comfortable. Shout out to John manager really helpful and went the extra mile I will be staying here again
- beckycooperl (10/5): IOM visit - Nice and friendly hotel, great central location and the rooms were clean and tidy. Bed of course were comfortable as always.
- Voyage23467339852 (10/5): Staff absolutely lovely - Stayed Tuesday 11/11 for just the one night. We were running a bit late and needed to get to a show by 8 and still needed to eat. The two staff (sorry, didn’t get their names but one chef and one front of house) were absolutely brilliant.
They were very quick and intensive and nothing was too much bother. Likewise the lady we spoke with on the Wednesday morning re leaving our car whilst we went into town.
Premier Inns don’t tend to vary much but this one totally stood out for quality of their staff. Thank you
- A6215ZYrebeccab (10/5): Autumn stay - We recently stayed here and can honestly say the staff were some of the best we have experienced at a premier inn. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Only downside was the evening menu is a bit limiting and would benefit from a great choice.
- 844joj (4/5): location was perfect, WiFi and attention to details were poor. - :
The location was perfect and the staff were generally pleasant. However, my stay was quite disappointing due to several issues with the room.
The room was very cold, and the heating control panel was not working, so I was unable to get any heating throughout my stay. I reported this to the front desk on the second day, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve it.
There was visible mould on the ceiling in multiple areas, which was concerning. The hallway on the second floor also had a strong smell of weeds for the first two days of my stay.
Additionally, the room did not seem properly prepared upon arrival. The bed was not made well, there was no toilet paper provided, and the bathroom floor was not clean. The pillows were also of poor quality, which made sleeping uncomfortable.
WiFi signal was pretty poor / unable to connect most of the time , so I was unable to work.
Overall, while the location and staff were good, the room conditions and lack of response to issues were very disappointing.
- danielsP5984KD (10/5): Good Location - Good location in Ipswich. Stayed here one night to attend a football match at Portman Road, which is a short 10 minute walk from the hotel.
The car park at the hotel is small, however I did manage to find a space. Bit of a squeeze parking a Berlingo in here but there is also an overspill car park just across from the hotel.
Check-in was easy - two screens to do self-check in and somebody on reception who took my car registration details as it costs £9 for 24 hours to use the hotel car park.
Room was clean and tidy. Very good black-out curtains and minimal noise, despite being on the 1st floor at the front of the hotel directly above the street.
Breakfast was good - standard Premier Inn fare. Some items could have done with replenishing, though.
No issues checking out the next morning and was back on the road heading north after a good night’s rest.
Would recommend.
- Explore57539228399 (2/5): Unclean and poor facilities - Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel.
The bed was comfortable and there wasn't much noise from outside but that's it for the positives.
The rooms cleanliness was awful. This ranged from dust and hair on/in the bed. An unhoovered floor. Spare pillows being covered in dust.
The facilities in the room were also sub par. The heating system took a while to kick in. The hot water for the shower took over 5 minutes to start getting warm. The extractor fan didn't work.
There were no towels in our room when we arrived.
The tea and coffee station hadnt been topped up.
- thomfam123 (10/5): Excellent in all respects - Brilliant -we know exactly what we'll get - friendly welcome, clean, warm (adjustable!) room, good food, always works really well for us.
- P1705JUlindseyr (6/5): Good hotel, let down by the restaurant - The hotel was well located, although there weren't many on site parking spaces. There is an overflow nearby, though. Also the soundproofing could be a bit better.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the automated check in is a time saver. The decor feels fresh and the room was very clean and functional, with a comfy bed.
The restaurant is a real letdown, though. The advertised menu was not available, only a very reduced one, and there was no children's menu. Had I paid for the meal deal I would have been quite miffed. Also the kitchen seemed to have difficulty in producing an adequate supply of food for breakfast, even though the place wasn't exactly heaving. We went down to breakfast at various times over three days and there were always empty dishes. Very disappointing.
If it wasn't for the restaurant problems I would have given a much higher rating.
- misswongmerseyside (4/5): Let down by breakfast and lack of fresh air - I have never been to the isle of man before and to start on a positive i thought the island was beautiful, so peaceful and interesting and the people were welcoming. We stayed at the Premier Inn in Douglas which is in an ideal location for town, buses and bars. The nearby buses run regularly and Ramsey is well worth a visit and they are regular for the airport. The main issue I had with the room was the lack of a window to open, it was a sealed unit and air con, i don't want to breath air that's pumped into a room, it was hot and uncomfortable and noisy. The bath had mould round the edge and is so high to step in and out of after a shower, it could be a problem for some people. The breakfast was another issue, it starts at 6.30 and when we got down about 8 it was clear the fried eggs had been there since the start, the yolks were just hard rubber, on the second morning I asked if I could have scrambled, which was given to me in a bowl as it came out of the microwave, no butter or stiring, just a cloth textured rubber heap, the bacon nearly broke my teeth it was that hard but the sausages were nice and there is a good selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt. The staff were lovely and pleasant but I feel it has been let down by the breakfast and lack of fresh air in the room. I would certainly visit the island again but not in a Premier inn.
- christineg357 (10/5): Lovely break - We really enjoyed our 3 night break at this Premier Inn.
We had a Premier Plus room which was lovely and peaceful.
The road links from here to the Isle of Wight main attractions are good
All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
A special thank you to Waqar for all his help and advice,
Nothing was too much trouble and he made our stay extra enjoyable.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
Would definitely recommend.
- Lindyann2013 (6/5): 1 night - Had one night here while attending an event on the island, parking is free and onsite by registering at the desk.
Breakfast was usual Premier inn offerings.
- 645saraho (10/5): Fantastuc welcming fabulous team! 5 stars! - The location is lovely near boats and also a lovely littke pub and shops and pizza.
The staff at the premier Inn work very hard 5 star service and very happy to help.
Amazing diligent team with a friendly welcome as a solo traveler on business.
The chefs food is 100% fresh so many flaviours you will not be dusapointed!
Thank you very much for a lovely stay and also my room was spotkess! Thank you
- DayTrip33867650751 (10/5): Ipswich Quay Delight. - Stayed for 2 nights on 16/17th October 2025.Wonderfule location for wandering the harbour and town. Electronic booking in machines not working but incredibly helpful and cheereful staff sorted things manually. Room was clean and tidy and we are considering buying one of their mattresses. The breakfast was .MIND BLOWINGLY good, everything hot and tasty. Would recommend Quayside Premier Inn for a stopover.
- bigtreez43 (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - This was my first premier inn stay so I didn't quite know what to expect.
The first good omen was getting a covered parking spot 2 seconds from reception in the pouring rain🌧
I had booked premier plus with the hope it would be better than travelodge (who I have totally given up on!)
We were on the 5th floor in a lovely sized room with a coffee machine, complimentary sparkling water and chocolate in the fridge and a very comfy bed.
Slept great, no noise even though our road looked onto the main road.
Breakfast was good, the lady on reception was doing about 7 different things at a time, all brilliantly I may add.
Because I booked early and it was a Sunday night, it cost me £48 plus the brekky... fantastic!!
Would definitely use premier inn again
- Tour36623037102 (10/5): Wow ! - I’ve not stayed at any Premier Inn for the last two months, I’m normally a very regular customer.
This is my first visit to Ipswich Quayside and I am very much hoping it won’t be the last.
The level of service here I feel is above and beyond what you normally get at a similar establishment . There was a slight issue of me booking in, but that was more because of the third-party involved rather than Premier.. Jack sorted that and Teale looked after me from their one, Teale is a credit to this company, ensuring I was happy with the way my booking had been sorted and also later on in the restaurant where she was very attentive and chatty which makes all the difference when after a long day working on your own somebody takes the time to say hello and smile. Also of note was Hayden who also made time to make me feel comfortable in the on-site restaurant. Talking of which it was my first viewing of the new menu, wow!
You really must try the spring rolls, I so enjoyed them. I had them two nights running, the new pizzette is also worth a dabble. So basically in my first visit to Ipswich. Quayside I encountered excellent service and really decent tasty food so I think I must also include the chef on this review.
Hopefully, I’ll see you all again soon !
- 631graemec (10/5): Trip to see relatives. - We're pleasant and welcoming venue. Staff were very supportive and always happy and talkative. Excellent value for money and good quality.
- 750saada (10/5): Why cant all customer service be like this experience. - Visiting the Isle for the first time for work. I was apprehensive and stressed out but Waqar at the front desk was extremely helpful and quickly found solutions that made my stay completely stress-free. He went above and beyond to ensure my experience of the hotel as well as the isle was positive and cant thank him enough. Why cant all customer service be like this experience. The hotel was clean, well maintained and I appreciated the service I received. 5 stars. Thank you Waqar
- SamH611 (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Lots of parking available. Friendly staff. Checked in online via the app so once we arrived at reception it was very quick. We had room 117 premier room. Very quiet location. Speedy wifi. Room very clean and well equipped. Would stay again.
- ishaf2018 (10/5): Lovely hotel - Brilliant hotel just found it hard work trying to get in to the underground parking which I needed to park in due to my mobility issues and needed disability parking drove around the one way system 5 time looking for entrance and it was dark so didn't help needs a sign pointing saying where parking entrance is
- ginah9800 (10/5): Great location. - We stayed on a Sunday night in a room on the 2nd floor. The hotel is on the ring road but we didn't hear any traffic noise. Room looked like it had recently been refurbished. All staff we met were lovely and helpful. We parked in the underground car park. £9 for 24 hours via the hotel. Great location over the road to the marina. You get a great view from the restaurant. Breakfast was lovely and fresh. Sausages could have done with being a bit more browned off though. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Ipswich.
- MrNiceGuy007 (10/5): One Sunday night stay couldn’t fault it - We stayed for one Sunday night, we dropped our bag with reception and we were offered 24 hours complimentary parking which was a nice touch.
Our room was on the second floor and was very quiet, no traffic noise at all. We both had a great nights sleep.
The room itself was very clean and everything looked brand new.
Breakfast was typically premier inn and was really nice to have a view of the marina from our table.
The two ladies that run the restaurant were very friendly.
Location is perfect for the marina and not too far from the town centre.
Highly recommend the Waterfront bistro on Sunday afternoon they have live entertainment and the Soul man was excellent and is literally across the road from the hotel.
- 645steveh645 (2/5): Poorly located, poorly staffed, very noisy, unsanitary bathroom - To start with calling this hotel QUAYSIDE is a bit of a deception. Like Stansted Airport is nowhere near London, Quayside is not really near the quayside. Looking out of the window in the direction of the quay, the view is a mish mash of odd tower blocks - a mixture of residential and recently failed businesses. You cannot see the quay. But it is there! The car park is not attached to he hotel, being on the other side of a road and we parked about 100m away. Wading past litter and skips I was glad it wasn't raining. This "hotel car park" charged by the 24 hours. As a guest we were entitled to a discount from £10 to £9 per night.
Stepping off the pavement and entering the building you find yourself not in a reception but a public area that includes a parcel pick up locker. A sign indicates you are to find reception on the first floor. This is a security issue apart from an unfriendly start to a stay. At night, anyone may loiter inside the building.
Reception is a misnomer as well as there is a small unmanned counter and two flat screen self check-in terminals. A harried and impolite staff member bolted towards us pointing at the screens and telling us to use them. Not the best greeting I've ever had in a hotel. We asked for a second key and this staff member made a second card for us. Waste of time as it turned out, as it happens everytime we go to Premier Inn, the self service machines NEVER successfully make a second key card. This one was no exception and simply didn't work. Only the Premier Inns with proper receptions seem to be able to provide working second keys.
The room looked OK and we were relieved to find it had an opening window. However, we were surprised to find it was a full blown tilt and turn window which is safe if you just tilt is back, but I wouldn't leave a child un-attended as the the window can be fully opened up and the fall is straight down to the pavement below. We were on floor 4. A fall would almost certainly be fatal.
Despite the hotel being quite new, the air conditioning system was typically naff. The room was very hot and, of course, these turn themselves off after a while and you wake up so hot you have to open the window.
The problem with the window being open is the two lanes of traffic 1.5metres away from the front of the hotel. The hotel is on an island with two lanes going one way out of town on one side and two lanes coming in on the other. It was very noisy and at 5am, we had to shut the window again to block the noise.
During the early evening we returned from the rather underwhelming quay (we had found it) having found very few places to eat or drink, with most venues either closed or simply gone. We went to the hotel Thyme restaurant and stood by the "Wait to be Seated" stand. It was 7:30 and there were exactly 5 people on 3 tables in the restaurant with about 20 tables empty. The staff member came up to us and asked if we had a reservation. We said we did not. She told us we could have a table at 8:15. I queried the fact that there were plenty of tables empty to be told the problem was not enough cooks! I've eaten in plenty of Thyme restaurants before and although quite tasty, they are basically out of a packet and warmed up. It's hard to see the problem. I would have been furious if I had been silly enough to pre-pay for a Meal Deal only to find there were not enough cooks! As we were not invited to sit at a table with drinks until the cook could cope with unpacking a couple of curries and putting them in the oven, we decided to scour the area again to find someone who did want to serve us.
Breakfast at 9:00 was equally uninspiring. Buffet breakfasts are becoming the Premier Inn norm unfortunately and they can be good or "disappointing" - nothing in between. This one had some cooked items solidifying under the heaters but quite a few items missing. Fair enough up to point - no one wants to see food wasted. However, where as most of these have a cook in attendance to cook missing items fresh, there was none in attendance here. We waited for a bit and other guests queued with us. After awhile I leant over the counter and called out for anyone able to wield a spatula. A cook emerged from somewhere out of sight and took orders for, eggs, black pudding etc.
While I waited for those to cook, I went to make toast to find no brown/granary bread. I could have asked someone, if I could find someone, but was losing the will to stay in this dump any longer.
About cleanliness; I used to think that Premier Inn could be relied upon to provide a nice clean and quiet room (they used to do a good night sleep guarantee!). Covid provided the excuse to change daily clean to clean on departure OR if requested (who would you ask at an unmanned reception?). The room we had was VERY deficient this time. You are provided with one bath towel and one hand towel hanging in the bathroom and one bath towel folded on the shelf below the tea and coffee. The first annoyance was when my wife went to the toilet and closed the bathroom door, she found a used and wet towel was hanging from the hook on the back of the door. So much for cleaning the bathroom on departure! The second fundamentally more foul incident was when I took the second towel off the shelf and went to use it after my shower and found, hidden in the folds a large brown stain. I like to think that a previous guest had allowed tea or coffee to drip onto the towel and refolded it to hide the stain. The alternative is too foul to consider. Either way the way these towels are left on the shelf leaves them open to abuse, by silly or malicious guests. It is clear that this towel was not provided for our booking and if APPEARING not to be used, these shelved towels may be there for weeks I suppose. Yet another sign of Premier Inn racing to the bottom to take Travelodges place. Interestingly they don't leave the extra pillows unbagged and unsealed. Just the towels.
- kerryc253 (8/5): A good stay - Overall a good stay. Location is great, right near the centre. Staff lovely and friendly. Breakfast was good, lots of choice of fruit, cereals and hot food. Parts of the hotel and rooms are looking really tired. Stayed in a standard double which was a bit drab. It definitely needs a clean and a paint job in some places. Price was great. I would stay there again.
- zoecJ1099PE (2/5): Poor! - Went for 2 nights on business and chose the Premier Inn for a change from my usual Isle of Man hotel and I won't be staying there again!
Aside from no parking whatsoever, my room smelled damp and musty and I couldn't open the window to air it. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work, the shower attachment was broken and there was black, mouldy grout all round the shower enclosure and damp on the ceiling.
When I reported the broken extractor the (very lovely) lady member of staff said "oh not another one"!
My room was also noisy and I had little sleep after 2am. The first night I was woken by noise outside, around 4 am, sounded like loading at the Marks and Spencer opposite. The 2nd night was around 2am and lots of banging that sounded to be coming from inside the hotel.
All in all a really disappointing hotel, and the worst Premier Inn I've stayed in. The staff were lovely and friendly (although the waiter in the evening got my dinner order slightly wrong), but that's the only good thing I can say.
- richardcF1558HG (8/5): Friendly staff - Very friendly staff and excellent food. But the room was smelly and I had noisy neighbours. Luckily I only had a one night stay this time.
- DianeS672 (8/5): Friendly clean hotel - A very clean hotel. Friendly, helpful staff.
We had a normal room. Very clean, lots of hot water for showers etc.
The staff worked very, very hard. Receptionist was doing several jobs (well). She checked people in for breakfast, cleared tables, set tables in between assisting guest requests and guests leaving the hotel. The lady preparing and cooking all the food for breakfast was very helpful - lots of choice.
My only criticism is the noise of the traffic and when this was quiet the aircon kicked in and was equally noisy.
- T1966ZAclairem (10/5): Leanne should train every staff member! - Leanne is so helpful. She really did make a difference to my dealings with PI.
If you go, and all of the colleagues are anything like as friendly and professional, you are in for a real treat!
- ewencrichton (6/5): Average - We had a 4 night stay in September 2025.The hotel was in a great location for us and provided a more than adequate base to explore the island. Our room was satisfactory but the ensuite was badly in need of a makeover- broken shower curtain rail, black mould, etc. As per usual at Premier Inns no room servicing takes place unless requested. We only had one experience of requiring assistance - fresh towels and bin emptying. Sadly this took 4 requests before being actioned . We did not dine in the restaurant. Overall a satisfactory but average stay.
- andyrW1497UP (6/5): Not as good as it look on the photos - The Rooms look nothing like the photos, ours was stale and smelt damp. They was even black mould growing on the skirting board in the bathroom. No opening windows. The staff however were amazing doing an amazing job with only 3 members of staff working from early morning until late at night. Whatever they were paid it wasn’t enough. Georgia the manager was seen to be doing every job in the hotel including lifting very heavy barrels of beer into the bar. Shame on Premier inn for working there staff like work hoses. And a very well done to, Georgia
Judy, Thomas, who remained friendly helpful and professional even though they must have been exhausted.
- johncQ9124NA (8/5): Day away - Location good, the family room was a little small and only 2 cups provided for an occupation 4. No glasses provided to clean teeth. Had the meal deal, menu options very poor and not able to change them around. Good point bed comfortable as always and staff friendly.
- FarAway27903048582 (4/5): Very poor food. - We arrived without a booking for a breakfast as a treat for my mum.
Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Breakfast buffet was cold.
We complained so the manager of the restaurant said she’d have our breakfast cooked fresh.
All they did was microwave it which ruined it completely.
Basically, £30 odd quid wasted.
Won’t be going back there again.
- 331rikum (10/5): Great hotel - Very nice hotel, staff are lovely and very friendly, it is easy to get to town centre and shops located next to some nice restaurants,
- Roving62422127640 (10/5): Katie And Abi were fantastic. - I actually visited on 13/10/24 (wheelchair user) but as I've only just joined TripAdvisor I thought I'd leave a review. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and was served two ladies Katie and Abi, I'm not sure if they are still with the restaurant but they were both really helpful such as opening doors for me and extremely friendly and I never forgot. I would have stayed longer but had to dash home for an emergency and never got back there since but would like to visit again before 2025 is up.
- B1952DLrichardf (6/5): Comfortable and Clean but Terrible WiFi! - The room was clean and tidy (although there was a lingering smell of pipe tobacco in the bathroom which was weird considering the smoke detectors are meant to be very sensitive). The room maybe needed a refresh - for people with USB-charged devices, there are only two ports (one on each side of the bed) and they are low current so devices take twice as long to charge. If there were more charging ports the slow charging wouldn’t be an issue.
The Ultimate WiFi is terrible and certainly not worth paying £5 per day for - I recommend buying extra data on your phone rather than wasting your money if you need to as long as you have decent coverage in your room. Fortunately(?) Ultimate WiFi was included in my room fee, but whenever I wanted to use it there was no bandwidth. This hotel DESPERATELY needs upgraded broadband that can provide an acceptable service to everyone, especially those who have paid extra. It makes me very cross that you have to pay for a service you can’t use.
Rant over - the staff were lovely, there was plenty of parking and there is a pub just across the car park and even a KFC if that’s your bag. I will definitely book again, because it’s actually good value, but I will ensure I have enough data for my Internet needs!
- clairebS2953VT (4/5): First 2 days, poor - Staff are great, it's what's makes the stay better.
If you do book, do not stay in room 501. The smell in the room is disgusting. I had to endure it for 2 nights due to them being at full capacity. Please check where they are putting you before you agree and that room should be condemned.
I was moved on my 3rd night which was,an absolute game changer for my stay.
- PhilGray (6/5): A 'let-down'. Nothing other than that. Poor! - Chains! McDonalds, KFC, Premier Inn...all chains with the theory that we as customers know in advance what we are buying wherever we are...because it (should be) is in theory, the same.
If that is true, then Premier Inn Douglas may have to bid a sad farewell.
Dirty bathroom. Shower over the bath that failed to retain the water therein, with it then all over the floor.
A carpet in the bedroom that was strangely reminiscent of a well known pub chain carpet. not great. did not look or feel particularly clean.
Guests are advised to ask at reception if they wish their room to be cleaned. We did ask. At the third time of asking, we did get the service...at 5.30pm!!!
Overall, not the best experience really.
The one thing all these places have in common is the willingness and hard work of the staff. The staff are absolutely failed by their employers!
- andycH5895GJ (4/5): Gone Downhill - This was our third visit here whilst visiting relatives on the Island, and unfortunately our last.
We booked a mixture of premier plus and standard rooms for our party, but all were looking very tired and in desperate need of refurbishment.
There was a huge bleach stain on the corridor carpet on the 5th floor, and the carpet in our room (506) had a muddy stain, which could have been easily cleaned.
The sink hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants, and the fixed shower screen had a lot of mould around it, with one of the silicone seals hanging out of it.
Our party stayed 3 nights and despite requesting our rooms being cleaned and fresh towels, this only happened on the final night for one of the three rooms.
We ate in the hotel one evening and we have no clue how the two young members of staff calculated our bill. We queried this with the Duty Manager, Maxine, who was very apologetic and agreed we had been overcharged by over £18. She refunded us a couple of breakfasts that we had already prepaid but upon checking my bank at home can see that she actually charged me an additional £21.98 instead of refunding.
The staff do work hard and are very nice, but the systems and procedures which have Premier Inn have introduced since our last visit, would mean this hotel isn;t an option for us in the future.
- 649alistairl (8/5): Staff overworked and overstretched but manage to produce the best they could - The hotel was set back away from the sea front on a relatively quiet street.
the staff were efficient, hard working and always doing their best, premier inn should be proud of them, however it was obvious at busy times (in the evening) that they were short staffed.
The room was quiet, clean and tidy.
I know its a first world problem but in four nights stay my room was not serviced, despite a request to the receptionist and housekeeper. I guess the absence of a door hanging notice could be the problem, but washing cups daily in the sink is hardly hygienic. I finally collared a cleaner on the last day and managed to get clean cups!
The restaurant and bar was busy and the chef (and waiting staff) worked tirelessly for hours to turn out hot tasty meals, well done to them .
The basic wifi was very poor, maybe to encourage us to buy the £5 daily deal! (much better) .
I would stay again, but not for four nights.
- paulasZ4081RT (6/5): Ok for one night - First time to isle of man, hotel taxinride from ferry terminal £4.00. Few negatives, not enough staff on hand and when given keys no instruction ie were room was, eating an drinking options and the fact that the bedroom doors were so tough to open! Had a meal in restaurant first night, waited almost an hour and only few people I'm restaurant, food ok, but no check backs or offer of desserts or more drinks.
Positives, breakfast very nice lots of options. Mns over road for snacks etc. Bed comfy. Have to mention the following staff members who were great, Ashton, marine and thomas, thomas your a star!!
- K2679YNrichardi (10/5): Really helpful staff - Firstly I'd like to thank the woman on reception who quickly sorted out my booking error. What's also nice to say, is that there is nothing yo complain about. The room was plush and modern, the bathroom clean and shiny. We slept really well, and woke up up to a specially made vegetarian breakfast. Easy access to the quayside bars and restaurants.
- seanfU7818RA (10/5): Ipswich Town Centre Quayside Hotel - Very Friendly staff especially the young lady who helped us when we checked in she also took the meal order for Dinner and served the food and drinks not sure what her name was but deserves reward and recognition
- heleneE2209DY (10/5): A great stay! - The staff were extremely helpful, and it was a great location: only a short drive to the beach and near to a main road to access other parts of the island. Food was good and there was plenty of free parking. I was definitely glad to have chosen this hotel and not the sea front one.
I’m already planning a return trip.
- C4141CVtraceym (10/5): One of the best hotels I’ve stayed :) - Went with my sister and our children (4 in total) we had a conjoined room that was lovely and clean and spacious enough even with three beds, the staff were all really amazing getting us checked in and getting everything we needed ready, we all had breakfast all three mornings and it was beautiful, £20:98 for all six of us and unlimited buffet style fry up with cereals, pastries, toast and drinks all included we will defo always choose the premier inn Douglas next year :)
- lindseysV5112JP (10/5): Hotel Lake very good - Overall a lovely friendly hotel.
Staff very good.
Parking a godsend
Breakfast bit of a wait as staff chatting in the kitchen but food excellent
- W2357QUjustinw (10/5): Superb - Great stay, location and staff with a special mention to Simon (Chef) for going above and beyond in customer service
Thank you.
- 17Helen1967 (10/5): Great overall stay. - Check in easy, plenty of parking free - just register your vehicle. Room lovely & clean. Very comfy. Tea & coffee provided in room with extra available in reception. Breakfast good choice, all nice and fresh. Staff friendly & helpful. Overall very happy.
- richardgQ52MH (10/5): Good experience - We recently stayed at the Premier Inn Isle of Wight Sandown (Merrie Gardens). The check in was simple and efficient. Car parking was free, (a major factor in booking), was clean, tidy and safe, with ample car parking spaces too. The corridors, rooms and bathroom, were clean and tidy and didn't look run down and tired, unlike some premier Inns we have visited. The breakfast was one of the best we have experienced at a premier in. Both the cold and hot options were available in smaller amounts, but replenished frequently, rather than having lots of food hanging around and deteriorating. The quality was very good too. A shout out to the host, who's name I think was "Penny" who was very helpful and constantly working hard in the dining area. Also to the Manger and Chefs too. All in all a very nice experience in a safe area.
- F6367BVjaned (10/5): Brilliant hotel - We arrived early and Sarah was very helpful as we had to see family as there had been a death in our family. She was lovely. Friendly staff. Lovely food. We will definitely return
- sarahrO9394UE (10/5): Great stay - Clean, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. Our second stay here and definitely won't be our last! Thank you to the lovely team! The location is also a perfect base for getting to the rest of the Isle of wight easily with access to two supermarketals, KFC and a pub!
- paultW8393WQ (6/5): Lovely stay - We were surprised to learn that we are no longer permitted to rewarm my son's meals, despite the fact that we had stayed for at least four days and my son is an extremely picky eater. I completely understand that there will be health and safety concerns, but the meals are freshly cooked, intended solely for my son, and stored in a secure container. Every day, I've been driving anywhere to find a public microwave to warm my son's meals, making it difficult to enjoy what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, as we've always visited the island during the summer. He had been using Premier Inn and bringing my son's food, but this was the first time we were not allowed, and my son nearly starved for a few hours while we looked for a place for him to warm his meals. Hopefully, because this hotel has a reputation for passion, they will consider purchasing the cheapest microwaves available to use for families like us, as some hotels and "pubs" that only serve beers allow guests to use microwaves to rewarm meals even if they are not dining in.
- MoWhittaker (10/5): A wonderful first stay on the Isle of Man - Excellent location. Plenty of parking nearby. All staff were so knowledgeable and accommodating; friendly and efficient. Particularly Maxine; Ashton; Shanice. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A great team and a credit to the company.
- massaci01423 (8/5): A good value hotel in an excellent location. - The location of the hotel is excellent for those with a car. Supermarket and eating places within close walking distance. Staff were all very approachable and friendly. Room was fine with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was a bit dated.Shower over the bath would need a hand rail for less mobile and shower soap dispenser did not function well. the toilet seat was loose. No real complaints, however. Good breakfast and, overall, a good value hotel.
