Guest Reviews
- suzannesV2717JL (2/5): Dreadful hotel - From the outside it looked like a normal
Premier Inn. On check in it was apparent that they were very short staffed as it took ages for anybody to respond to the buzzer (all the self serve check in desks were out of order).
The room - it was awful. Filthy threadbare carpet, marked walls, black mould in corners of room and in the windows.
I had to make several trips to reception as the 2nd key card wasn’t working, the third bed hadn’t even been made so I made it myself but the sheets had blood on so I had to request a clean set. There was no toilet roll and only one towel between three of us for two nights. Some of the electric sockets didn’t work and all the housing had come away from the wall so it wouldn’t have been safe for children.
I paid extra for a ‘room with a view’. The view consisted of the Edinburgh Council offices and a row of homeless people living in tents.
It cost around £550 for two nights which was robbery. I think joining the homeless in a tent would have been no worse.
Never again will I use Premier Inn.
- F2512WYgillianl (10/5): Excellent service - Not our first visit to Newcraighall and, hopefully, not our last. As always, service was great. The hotel is in a great position, just across the road from a park and ride, making a trip into Edinburgh very easy. On our first morning, the breakfast room was incredibly busy as it was a Scottish Bank holiday. The two ladies working in there were brilliant. They were completely calm, friendly, cheerful and totally unflappable, providing an excellent, freshly cooked breakfast in a very clean and tidy environment for everyone. Well done to them.
- louiseeU4519ZD (10/5): Positive and pleasant stay - A great location, the train station for Edinburgh city centre is a short walk away and only a 10 minute train.
The atmosphere is friendly and pleasant.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
The value for money is really good- breakfast is also great with lots of choice available for anyone.
There is limited noise as it is a quiet location.
The service for breakfast and reception was exceptional- really helpful, polite and friendly making it a really pleasant stay.
Would recommend and would visit again.
- rogerellis1964 (2/5): Not the best by a long way. - The check-in was poor. We were eventually served by duty manager, who was very mumbled and couldn't wait to pass us our room key and move on. Our room was very poor as we'd paid for Premier plus room. It wasn't clean, there were marks on desk area where a spill hadn't been cleaned up. The fridge and kettle were dirty. The headboard has a piece missing. The bed was lumpy and squeaked every time I moved. I went down to reception to see if we could have a better room. Eventually after a long wait someone came to reception and I was told we could move rooms the following day as they were fully booked. Not a lot we could do but spend the night in the allocated room. Something in roof space was noisy all through the night. In the morning the young lady on reception was very helpful and assured us she would sort another room for when we returned. On returning we were given a new room. Much cleaner but still a lumpy bed!!
Stopped 3 nights in total for our Ruby wedding anniversary. At breakfast the food was ok but service was poor with one member of staff behind counter more interested in his mobile phone. Question mark over hygiene practices. We had stopped at this hotel 2 years previously and had a wonderful stay. What has happened? We have stopped at many Premier inns over many years but this has been the worst experience ever and I question whether we will ever stay at a Premier Inn ever again. Really spoilt what should have been a wonderful time. Maybe AIRBNB next time.
- wg985 (2/5): WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN - AVOID! THE WORST HOTEL ANYONE COULD STAY IN!
I would give this hotel minus stars if I could. Absolutely filthy hotel.
During our stay, we encountered several issues that significantly impacted the quality of our visit:
List of issues below:
1) The room was not properly cleaned upon arrival. The bathroom had visible mould, and the linens were stained.
2) Paint peeling on walls, skirting board, laminate pealing and burn marks on shelf and desk.
3) Stains on carpets and chairs.
4) Headboard torn.
5) No hot water from sink tap.
6) Damp above window and air conditioning vent
7) Dirty walls & bathroom bin.
8) Mould in bathroom and around window.
9) Chip on bathroom sink
10) Dirty hard child's bed with dirty stained bedding.
11) Rude staff (lady who works from 3pm onwards refused to change bedding as she said there was no point as all the bedding is the same.
We would have moved hotels but as it was half term there wasn't any availability elsewhere.
After raising our concerns we did get a full refund.
- 766belindan (2/5): Very disappointing indeed - Very disappointing. The bedroom had thick dust in the corners. The white sealant around the bath/shower was stained black and the grouting was black with dirt. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom also. The corridor (3rd floor) did not appear to be clean and fresh.
I wont be back.
- debbie19666 (10/5): Fab location - Perfect location for shopping , Christmas Markets and everything else in between. Great breakfast. Indian restaurant next door is amazing but you need to book
- millie1951 (10/5): Would stay again - Arrived and were greeted with a friendly welcome from Wendy at reception. We were checked in quickly , she was full of lots of helpful transport information and local knowledge about great restaurants in Musselburgh. We ate at Parrilla Argentinian for dinner it was 10/10. The room was basic but comfortable and clean, nice bedding and fluffy towels.
We decided to have breakfast in the morning and for £10.99 it’s a bargain, considering a Starbucks and a croissant would cost £7. The breakfast ladies were very attentive and the food was fresh and piping hot, lots of choice. Lisa I think her name was made us feel very welcome and was so chatty.
- marybN7506NI (10/5): Christmas Market Visit - Travelled to Edinburgh for the Christmas market. The Hub has a central location, clean rooms and fabulous breakfast.
Great value for money.
- rajitd2025 (10/5): Perfect Premier Inn Experience! - We chose Premier Inn for an easy drive to experience, ample parking on the Saturday night. Very welcoming and lovely staff at check-in and at the morning's breakfast. Would recommend
- tronman (10/5): Birthday visit to Musselburgh - Great welcome at reception booked our breakfast time room clean and a great night's sleep shower good.
Breakfast excellent the staff were very helpful sort all requests checked for alleges.
Very tasty well cooked food well presented really enjoyed our breakfasts
- katehP3103IF (2/5): Room without Windows - I wouldn't go back to a Premier Hub, booked for myself and 3 other family members, my mother being 85 and couldn't believe we were £80.00 each so £160.00 per room and it didn't even have a window, the bed was right up against the wall so have to climb over the other person if you need to get up through the night, definitely a room for 1 person, and I don't think that you should have hotel rooms without windows!!!!
- 333ang (10/5): Great breakfast cooked by a lovely lady. - Clean comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff, especially the lady who cooks the breakfast. Managed to stay calm under pressure and cheery despite customers waiting for certain breakfast items to be cooked. The breakfast was really nice. The breakfast room could probably be a bit bigger.
- simonmJ9928SN (10/5): Great location, great value, and a lovely atmosphere. - my third visit in this hotel. Really value for money this time had a really spacious room, perfectly adequate for my needs clean and fresh and a perfect location just minutes walk from the tram stop on Princess Street. The breakfast is perfectly adequate, free tea and coffee throughout the day, there are juices available breakfast with a selection of pastries and cereal And fruit. Would recommend this hotel perfect location from Princess Street and Great value for money.
- NI84 (4/5): Not like a Premier Inn - I did not realise that premier inn hub seems to be a level below a premier inn, carpets filthy, decoration in rooms has happened but not very well. There is only a full blackout blind, no sheer blind so you are either in full fire of the Travelodge across the street or you have no window. We always love a premier inn as you know what you are getting, this is not the same
- Karenandnickl (4/5): Not the best - The desk is unmanned most of the time, generally there seemed to be a shortage of staff.
Our room was on the fist floor and was level with a staff smoking area. The net curtain was on the floor and the dark curtains had to be closed all the time making the room very dark. There is mould in the bathroom and generally the rooms are tired. The premier inn in Princes Street is a much better option.
- Rosebudpip (10/5): You know exactly what you are getting with a Premier inn, location, comfort and great value. - The location is great , very near the main station and many of the famous tourist attractions. Great view from our room.
Rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, extra pillows and bedding available. Tea/coffee making facilities, good bathroom with bath and shower and plenty of room to store/hang clothes.
Breakfast here is great and great value for money bearing in mind that just one coffee and a pastry in this highly priced area could set you you back £7-15! Breakfasts are huge here, eat as much as you like continental and full English available for £10.99!
Premier inns are always great value for money as they are usually in great central locations, they are clean and comfortable.
- kianicolem (2/5): Poor rooms with black mould in bathrooms - Location was good for tourists for the city centre with some close bars/attractions.
However on arrival we were given a room which belonged to someone else, luckily we were not the type of people to take advantage but I would be unimpressed if it was my room someone else had been given, no disrespect to the reception staff as this is likely to happen at times and it was sorted very quickly.
However the bedroom once we entered, the bathroom was full of black mould by the bath, with mould and blood stains on the roof, with mould also evident by the window stills. Generally unclean due to this and unleaded at the room considering premiere in is a usually respectable business and normally very clean.
- T2863KTcolinm (8/5): Business Stay - Same as most Premiere Inn hotels. good reception, great nights sleep and food was also good. The attached pub does great food but it does get very busy with the locals due to it's popularity so I would suggest booking ahead if you plan to have an evening meal.
- keeleyc199 (8/5): Overall good - Great location for the royal mile. Nice breakfast also chef did us poached eggs very nice of them . Had one member of staff who was a bit straight faced and didn't appear welcoming. But all others were helpful . Arrived to only one towel so had to ask more as we are a couple.Bathroom needs attention as there was quite a lot of mould around the bath , and smelt a little damp. Only four coat hangers between us.
- brunodog (10/5): Lovely stay - Stayed here one night. Centrally placed and easy access to bus, train and trams. Clean and compact room with, shower and toiletries provided. Free tea and coffee in bar area, a bottle of water is free in your room. Breakfast was continental style for £6 , quality was good and fresh. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. Would stay again.
- F2143WRdavidk (6/5): Noisy - Noisy hotel with trains going by and could hear other guests above me walking around
Bathroom needs a tidy up with rotten wood
- RetiredOneHappy (4/5): Not the best...... - We were unable to check in early so left our case in secure room. When shown to our room it was awful. The smell was shocking. The bathroom had black mould on the ceiling and walls. We asked for a room changed and they did it for us. That one wasn't much better. Without us asking, they upgraded us to a Premier Plus Room. While we were very grateful for this (it's not the staff's fault) this room was very tired. The foot stool was very tatty and material was peeling off as was the trim on the dressing table. The sink tap was plumbed wrong, you couldn't move it to the left into the hot position. Only cold water came out. Bizarrely, the hairdryer cable was screwed into the wall only allowing about 1 foot of cable to be available. I could barely get the hairdryer to reach the top of my head and I'm a small person. A tall person would have no chance. At breakfast nothing was labeled so we had no idea what the 'pink stuff' in a large bowl was and we just presumed the white stuff was Greek yoghurt. None of the juices were labeled. Everything just seemed ½ hearted. The staff on reception were great. Very accommodating and happy to advise re eateries nearby. We felt sorry for them as we weren't the only people with room issues. Yet they carried on in a very happy manner. The plus side to this hotel is that it is 3 minutes walk to the railway station and 100 yards from The Royal Mile. We wouldn't go back but would book the P. I. on Princes Street instead. That has the wonderful Bar+Block restaurant attached to it. Almost forgot ..... The restaurant was closed on the night we arrived (staffing issues) We stay all over the country in P. I. and this one has had its day, sadly. It's only the staff that are keeping it going.
- Katharve (10/5): Great - Great hotel, good location, rooms are a little tired with peeling furniture, reception was great, especially with the very difficult customer in front of us while checking in, breakfast was lovely, will def consider staying here in future
- minxietwo (6/5): mediocre experience - great location for visiting edinburgh, across the road from the park and ride(only 4.20 return on the train). rooms were small and dated. asked for the room to be cleaned one day(we stayed 4 days), bed wasnt made, bin was emptied, but rubbish was left on the floor, pretty much a half arsed attempt at cleaning. my wife cut her finger on one of the breakfast chairs, and we were told we would recieve a refund for 2 days breakfast( but havent)
- 739iainc (4/5): A hotel going down hill. - Since covid, this hotel has gone down hill. We had to ask for a change of room due to noisy guests in the room above us. Yes, the staff did speak to them but there was no improvement. When we complained again,we were told by the reception that the guests were not breaking the law however, they would move us. Neither room had a bedside cabinet on one side of the bed and they placed a stool by the bed. There was no settee in the second room and the skirting in the bathroom was unfinished and unpainted. We have stayed at the Craig Hall premier inn on several occasions and each time,it gets worse.
- damob2014 (10/5): Excellent location, clean and tidy rooms. Some niggles at breakfast, on the whole a great stay for tourism in Edinburgh - Excellent location for accessing the Royal mile (you literally walk up one of the side roads and you are on it). Room was ready for early check in and was clean and tidy as expected. There was only one towel which was rectified at reception. We had breakfast included on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Wednesday and Thursday were fine and everything was available. Friday however didn’t have a full array of items and nothing seemed to be available all at once. For 10 minutes bacon and sausage were available. Then they would go and then eggs and mushrooms were only available. I had to wait 15 minutes for it all to be available together which was frustrating and the reason for a knocked down star. Some of the staff were wearing non uniform also (tracksuit top and joggers) collecting plates which didn’t look professional.
Those minor things aside it was great for visiting Edinburghs tourist sights and I would stay there again if in Edinburgh
- B2482IXsusanj (6/5): Disappointing stay. - Great location. However the hotel was not very clean in the main areas, arriving at 3pm the breakfast and bar area floors very unclean. The room had no ventilation, smelled damp and after a shower the walls ran with condensation. A/C ineffective. Breakfast was poorly prepared, fairly lacklustre approach all round, not what we normally expect from a Premier inn. I suspect poor daily team management.
- davidbR4272DU (4/5): Poorly maintained - Poorly maintained short staffed
After paying £15 of my hard earned cash for early check in I was kept waiting a short time until my room was ready. I had paid for a premier plus room with a view.
The first room bed headboard was worn so I asked to change rooms, it was exactly the same. The manager agreed that the rooms coukd do with a refresh and offered a 20% reduction in price plus 3x free breakfasts 1 for each day of my stay.
The mattress is worn out as when you get into bed it doesn't offer support and you hit the bed stead.
In addition to the worn out headboard the chairs were all worn which didn't look great and there was a light out in my bathroom which didn't get fixed despite being told by the manager it would be.
The restaurant was rebooting only I went down at 1730 and was told it was fully booked, there was no one in. At 1800 after ordering in food there was one family of four seated in the restaurant. The guy on reception said there was only one cheif and they limited the numbers and he was only doing what he was told.
The good - not too far to walk to the railway station.
IN DESPERATE NEED OF RENOVATION.
- P6248BCpama (10/5): A peaceful overnight and so handy for Edinburgh - The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, the room was comfortable and quiet, on the back of the hotel. It's great to get free parking and be a couple of minutes walk to a station for the train to Edinburgh which takes 10 minutes.
- TFA1913 (8/5): Perfect and affordable place for a Edinburgh city trip (with great view of the castle if your lucky ) - Had a pleasant stat here at the Premier Inn hub hotel Edinburgh Rosestreet.
Getting there was easy, take the tram from Edinburgh airport (buy a ticket or tap in with your debit card) and hop off at the Princesstreet stop and then its a very short walk to the hotel which is just around the corner.
Lots of restaurants and pubs/bars around the hotel and a good bar to have drinks at in the lobby. (And food if hungry from snacks to hot food).
Unlimited continental breakfast is available for £6 a day, and tea and coffee is unlimited without costst for guests.
Check in was quick and easy and getting to the room was without hassle (only 1 elavator was working during our stay).
Room was good, under bed storage for baggage which saves a lot of space in the room.
Pull out desk for if you want to get some work done, with a absolutely perfect view of Edinburgh Castle (if you have room 535 like we did, see pictures).
Room was airconditioned and had a touch screen pannel for the lights and A/C control. (AC was a little loud and had a pannel hanging off it)
Enough sockets for your devices and a tv which you can connect your phone to, perfect for streaming stuff.
A very comfortable bed with more then enough room for 2.
Shower was good with to shower heads, shower did have some signs of mold but nothing major, other facilities in the bathroom were very good also.
Overall had a very nice stay and would recommend to anyone who is wanting to go to Edinburgh for a trip.
- 856JULIES856 (8/5): Great location - Great location , basic rooms but clean and comfortable could do with a little more hanging and drawer space.
Breakfast prices good and good selection.
Gonzarlo the young man on reception was very helpful and gave us a great recommendation on an Italian restaurant, Gordon's.
Very helpful young slim lady with long hair on reception .
- Pioneer20738897086 (4/5): Look elsewhere - Awful experience from check in to departure. Paid for early check in to be told there isnt any rooms available... (after a 10 minute wait to check in) also hasn't been refunded.
Room was dirty and in severe need of a freshen up, bed sheets were like bin liners, pillows were thinner than my palm, good luck drying your hair... and asthmatic blowing on your hair would be quicker.
Locked changed while we were there and unable to get into the room.
- 439adamr (2/5): Poor value for the price - Location: 5/5
Quality: 2/5
Value for Price: 0/5
- Disgusting, filthy carpets, but room was otherwise clean. Travel companions agreed but said their bathrooms were not clean.
- Noise: AC unit gurgles and creaks very loudly whenever on
- Insufficient room features: no trash can in main room, no safe, single control for all lights at once is not ideal for more than 1 person per room, very limited surface/table space
- Staff: front desk is not staffed, there is no text messaging system, and phone is not answered, so you have to physically go to the lobby and press a button to wait for someone if you need anything, but staff is friendly when needed
- Good location is the only real positive
- Accessible "roll-in shower" room's bathroom does not drain well so it floods when showering
On the second night here, the toilet would not flush. Someone came up and fixed it, then it broke a second and then third time. The manager on duty moved us to a new room for two nights that was half the size and had no windows. He said they would refund us for one night (USD $214). 10 days later, after contacting the property via Expedia and their own site, there has been no response and no refund. What a waste of time and energy.
The concept of this hotel is like one step above a hostel. Very strongly recommend against this location and chain (Hub by Premiere).
- Global33258164615 (10/5): Great stay in Edinburgh Premier Inn - Brilliant location, 5 minutes walk from train station.
Easy access to all sights and transport links.
Staff at the hotel are all brilliant and very helpful with any need or requirement that you may have.
It is a family hotel with a breakfast and dinner menu fit for all. If any special requirements you can speak direct to the chefs or the waiting staff.
The family room we had was an exceptional size with plenty of space on the top floor. There was no noise from other rooms or from the street outside.
The only downside was that the room was a bit tired and in need of a little TLC but that was outweighed by the space in the room and the view over Edinburgh from the window.
Overall it was a fantastic stay at this hotel and will return without second thoughts.
- 636marcih (10/5): Great Location for Edinburgh Travel - Premier Inn Newcraighall is a great place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh. It may seem far from the city centre, but the Newcraighall train station across the street will get you downtown in 15 minutes for about $7 USD round trip. Shopping, coffee shops, and restaurants are close by, and the Cuddie Brae is connected to the hotel. The hotel staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
- scoboouk (6/5): Great location, basic rooms with peeling furniture - First time staying at a Premier Inn and we picked this due to the location, being close to Waverley station and the Royal Mile. Location was excellent. We arrived very early and no one was on reception but we found a staff member in the restaurant who thankfully let us stow our luggage until check in. The room was a decent size for a family of 3 and the room was basic (no fridge), the furniture though was peeling, the desk had a large strip of laminate falling off it. The bathroom was clean and the shower had decent pressure, although the whole room steamed up after a short shower.
There wasn't alot of toilet roll left in the room for our two night stay but we did manage to get some when we seen a staff member cleaning another room on our floor.
Found the prices quite high, per Australian standards anyway, but it was one of the cheaper options we found in Edinburgh and it provided us with a good base for a couple of days in the city.
- 952jodyh (10/5): Amazing - This Premier Inn is by far the best one we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff went above and beyond and were so kind. I would like to give a special mention in particular to two members of staff. Firstly, Lisa the chef; she is simply amazing and so easy to talk to. Secondly, Mikayla, she was so warm and bubbly and put us at ease from the moment we walked in.
- Uyen (10/5): - Stayed for 2 nights, the room is clean, staffs are friendly. Hotel is very close to royal miles and everything. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay close to Edinburgh tourist hot spot. Also very close to the train station which is very convenient no need for public transportation.
- David (10/5): - Comfortable room, courteous and professional staff and a well located near the Royal Mile.
- Andres (10/5): - Great place and very calm and clean
- raykJ1888TG (2/5): Dont stay here - Would never stay here again. Mold on walls, dirty floor and bathroom, peeling furniture and more. Staff said they would not clean the room since it was late and there were no other rooms available. Offered a free breakfast but we refused due to cleanliness concerns.
- Mickey (6/5): - not upkept
- Brittany (8/5): - Great located to Royal Mile and train station.
Wifi was crap.
- Passenger60710773613 (2/5): Disabled Room - We were placed in a disabled room with no furniture or other amenities. The bathroom door was broken. At check in they could not find our reservation. Stay at the Waverley on Princess St. It’s a nicer hotel with friendlier staff.
- Susan (10/5): - Very nice staff. Room was clean. Carpets need replacing through Hotel
- zoej817 (10/5): Great city break / work hotel - So for what I needed this hotel was perfect. Perfect location for walking anywhere and very central. Bright, modern decor and very clean. Rooms are small and would say as a couple book larger room as compact with everything you need built in but limited floor space. No tea / coffee facilities in room but freely available in the lounge area. Limited menu choices for meals but literally restaurants /cafes on your door step. Breakfast very limited continental heavy on bread /pastries and cereal but fine as initial start to day. If you want luxury and plus restaurant/ facilities this isn't it but perfect for shorter city break / work.
- DevonIrelanders (10/5): Great location and price - great location and price. The room is small but has everything that's you need. The free tea and coffee was very welcome. Lovely friendly helpful staff also
- ANNA ZITA (8/5): - I like the fact that it's very accessible to any form of transportation and shopping. Wi-Fi is very slow. It's very hot in the evening and no a/c.
- 706ren_tah (10/5): Central location, perfect for short stays - I spent 4 nights in the hotel. I liked it. I liked the compact design, all the smart features. The room was small, but comfortable. The location can’t have been any better, everything was in walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. For short stays, it’s perfect.
- andreas_neuffer (8/5): Good hotel, excellent location, WiFi a desaster - Good hotel, excellent location, clean cut, no frills but good service. Very friendly service personnel (Helen!) in the restaurant, ok breakfast buffet (cheese not being part of it...). Room is only cleaned when you ask for it (and in our case the toilet was omitted...). Room windows cannot be opened. WiFi is a desaster... :-(
- Shauna (8/5): - Rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Maintenance was responsive and efficient when needed. Staff at front reception do double duty in the dining room so when needed, you have to go find them. Very close to Royal Mile and meeting points for tours. Hotel keeps our bags when needed.
- Ingrid (8/5): - Bueno y en buena locación Cerca de todas las amenidades
- vanessapE7258DI (8/5): Great Central Location Not So Great Rooms - First things first I do have to say that the location of this hotel was amazing and central to everything that we needed. Everything was a 20 minute walk or so, which was extremely helpful for us. On the negatives, for the price that you pay this hotel is honestly not worth it. I would much rather pay an extra hundred dollars or $200 a night and stay somewhere else we paid (~$700£). The rooms are extremely small which I understand is the appeal of Premier Inn but there was barely any walking room in the rooms. Additionally, the bathroom is not even fully closed off so everything you do in there can be heard by the other person you’re with. On our last night I also realized that the duvet we had been sleeping with for two nights had a disgusting stain on it. That was covered up our mattress did as well. Lastly, our carpet was so filthy that I couldn’t even walk around in socks because I felt disgusted. The cleanliness of this hotel needs to be reviewed because you really are not getting what you paid for.
- Vick (6/5): - No staff at front desk for questions. Bathroom water not draining well. Had to walk on water to go to sink.
- T9261AKbobs (4/5): Great location but not much else. - This was a Premier "Hub". The location was great, in the centre of the city. But my room (301) was very small. There was no space for a kettle, if you wanted a coffee in the morning before getting washed and dressed you had to get fully dressed and go downstairs to get one (free) in the bar. There was little room for anything else, the bed was squeezed up against the wall so you could only get out one side, OK if you are alone but not good for couples. The toilet/shower was very small too, hardly anywhere to put your toothbrush. It would be better to go for a non-Hub alternative.
- theonlynamenottaken (6/5): Good for a short stay - Location was perfect, easy to navigate from the tram drop off. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearly to choose from.
Easy walk to the bus station, and the castle!
Room was tiny, small area to walk beside the bed, and room was hot - even with temp on lowest setting. Under bed storage was very convenient.
Room was noisy due to water pipes (we think) in walls.
Cleanliness was good.
Luggage storage at reception was great on the day we left, as we left later.
Staff was very helpful!
Good for a short stay.
- V2696PIlisar (2/5): Noisy & Hot Room - Sept 2025 - Rooms
I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in September 2025, unfortunately the room was very very hot even when the temperature was set to 18 Deg C the lowest setting. There are no opening windows so I really struggled, the a/c unit was also very noisy, sounding like gushing water most of the time and clicking noises intermittently.
- SteveandLynne (10/5): Ideal base for travelling into Edinburgh centre and lovely staff. - We enjoyed a one night stay at this premier inn as we were attending a wedding in Edinburgh. This is an ideal place to stay if you are planning a trip into Edinburgh, it’s walking distance from the train and is certainly very reasonable priced compared to those hotels in the centre of Edinburgh.
The room we stayed in was spacious and ideal for our stay, did notice it could do with a freshen up but that did not affect our stay.
Staff were all lovely.
The buffet breakfast was very good and plenty of choice, our only criticism would be that the breakfast room is quite small. The lady who was working on her own was absolutely lovely and did a great job seeing to all guests, very professional and friendly,
We would definitely recommend this premier inn and would return.
- Michael (10/5): - This hotel was quiet and in a great location. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
- Esther (8/5): - Very close to towm and train station.
- FitTraveler10 (8/5): Quick Overnight stay en route to Paris - Stayed one night before we flew out to Paris. Great location. Room very clean. King size bed comfortable. Would stay here again.
- Teresa (8/5): - Great location. Breakfast so so. Need to get bananas and croissants.
- Debra (2/5): - Awful room, unhelpful and unfriendly staff
- Mary (4/5): - Staff was unavailable and hard to get room clean…you need to notify staff by noon for housekeeping and there was rarely anyone at front desk to notify
When we arrived they sent us to another property just to be told we were booked at the first property
Tub/shower were very hard to navigate…steep and narrow and difficult to manage
- Michael (8/5): - WiFi was sketchy
- Katherine (6/5): Meh - The hotel was well placed and the food was very delicious with a good variety. The reason this was scored so low was we had a smell in out bathroom that we needs cleaning almost everday and the smell persisted. It was a fecal/musty smell. We were placed in an accessability room (which was ok) bit we are tall people and having to bend over to use the facilities was bothersome for our backs.we asked to change rooms if possible but we were told the hotel was fully booked. We had to constantly get new towels for the bathrrom floor because there was no rim/lip to the shower and the drain was even with the rest of the floor so it constantly flooded the rest of the bathoom. It seems the hotel was shortstaffed during our stay since it was always a 50/50 chance of someone actually being at the front desk. So overall an ok experience for the price.
- Odyssey09919396722 (10/5): Great Clean Budget Hotel - Superb budget hotel. Clean and modern super service and friendly staff. Great location and excellent taxi service from the hotel simply excellent. Good continental breakfast.
- Lysane (10/5): - Vraiment bien situé. Rapport qualité/prix super. Très confortable et le personnel est vraiment
- Sirish (10/5): - Excellent place, very friendly staff, reasonable prices and plenty of food options.
- monikaw420 (8/5): Great location, great stay, but careful if it gets too hot - We had a great stay at the Hub/Premier Inn. The location in Edinburgh is absolutely fabulous - tram connection to the airport right around the corner, and both the touristy parts and some good shopping as well as restaurants close by and within walking distance. The rooms were on the fifth floor and the view across the Edinburgh rooftops was spectacular.
We loved the rooms (we had the larger rooms) and all amenities. One of the best parts - even if you don't have breakfast, you can get coffee/tea downstairs on a complimentary basis. Not so great was that we did not get someone to clean the rooms while we were there (even though we asked for it explicitly) and we were a bit worried about the AC (which in the end worked, but were also lucky in that temperatures were not super high).
Overall a relaxed and easy atmosphere, not much noise, and super easy in-and-out. Fair prices - in September!
- Randy (6/5): - Good location - the rooms were a little worn and bed needed updating. Location was 1 block off the Royal Mile closes to Holyrood than castle. Also convenient to Waverly train station
- julie (8/5): Good room for the price , would stay again. - Basic rooms . Very clean Rooms were quiet and location was convenient!
- shaazata (8/5): Clean room , very comfy bed and friendly receptionists - Have just a lovely overnight stay at this hotel. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and so helpful in ringing around to find us a taxi on a busy evening. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfy with the fabulous pillows. The room was a little tired in a couple places e.g. lick of paint needed in bathroom and couple of small holes in curtain. Breakfast was fine . I loved my poached eggs. Just couple of small things such as there was no decaf drink option. As my partner cannot have caffiene this was an issue. Also the breakfast room was a little cramped. As there were only three of us it was not a problem but maybe more of an issue if a group of you wanted to eat together.
I would also recommend that you pop into the adjoining pub the Cuddie Brae. We had couple of drinks in there. Proper pub atmosphere and a very friendly host.
- MK13AL (4/5): Stay somewhere else! - The poorest Premier Inn we've stayed in. We had room 203 and while the bedroom was ok if in need of a bit of decor, the bathroom was disgraceful, with badly broken and worn skirting board all round, but missing tiles around the bath revealing the cavity wall behind where you could see right into the wall. The hole in the wall was filthy. In addition, we found someone's used finger plaster on the floor.
The corridor outside the room (on second floor) was very noisy when walked on (probably loose floorboards) which disturbed sleep.
There is no restaurant, but a pub next door. The hotel breakfast room is very small and cramped and we saw people being turned away at breakfast. On our first day the food was dreadfully undercooked and virtually inedible. Second day was much better with a different cook but on both days stocks and dishes were not replenished and some people actually had to go into the kitchen area to get dishes.
Good point was that most staff members were really friendly and helpful (and are aware of the issues!) but one girl at breakfast was downright unfriendly.
There are plenty of other Premier Inns in Edinburgh - don't use this one, Lenny Henry wouldn't.
- Sjones58 (10/5): Great staff five stars! - Great location, close to a train station and easy access from the A1.
The staff were ALL excellent and could not have been more helpful.
- B496IFalisond (8/5): Convenient and comfortable, a bit tired - Easy parking with good accessibility to park and ride, and retail park just up the road too. Room was clean and spacious, bed excellent and felt clean. Bathroom was very tired. Felt very overpriced, but price probably reflects demand (festival and marathon events). Was fine for a night. A bit of noise from guests at the adjoined cuddie brae pub.
- bevmowell (10/5): Great service close to Edinburgh - Great location for visiting Edinburgh. With free parking. Train station across the road. Two stops to Edinburgh. Very helpful staff. Evening meal in pub next door that also had good food. Friendly helpful service. No complaints. Would highly recommend.
- Peter (8/5): - A bit more tired than some other outlets of this chain, but very convenient. Breakfast mediocre.
- Steven (6/5): - Extremely expensive but it was Festival time. Mold in the bathroom. They leave a card how to control the heating and AC but THEY control it. The wall control always reads that the temperature is locked and I had to go to reception several times to put on heating in the evening. As soon as it reached the temperature it locked once again and cooled down. The only positive thing is that it’s near the Royal Mile in my opinion.
- ConnorHugill5 (10/5): Great experience, nothing to complain about. - Absolutely no complaints at all, from the momentwe walked in to the moment we left nothing was too much of a problem, all staff were great and our rooms and food were nothing to complain about. All in all I have nothing to complain about.
- MARTIN (4/5): - The free wifi was painfully slow. I had a work meeting so I decided to pay the "ultimate" one, and wasnt too much better.
- Gargi (8/5): - I wish they let us check in
- Hineata (10/5): - Perfect location
- Cihan (10/5): - Otel Royal mile çok yakın gezilecek yerlere çok yakın temiz sesiz bir otel biz beğendik birdaha gelsek yine kalırız
- Sarah (6/5): - The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, yiu can walk to everything. The hitel was clean, a bit older and hard to find staff as they also seemed to have to work in the restaurant.
- Jack-Morris (6/5): Find another hotel - •grumpy staff
•it says Buffet for breakfast. Long way from buffet. Same food without any differensity every day for 5 days!!!
•no room cleanig
•no awailability in reseption ore bar.
•missing alot on barmeny
Only pluss is the short distance to mainstreet
- Céline (10/5): - Very good place to stay, near train station and the cool spots:)
- Sirish (10/5): - Nice location with good dining options
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Alt greit og som forventet. Hyggelig betjeningen og bra standard. God frokost.
- Patrice Pierre Henri (10/5): - All as promised: quiet, centrally located, good beds and good breakfast.
- Coralie (10/5): - Walkable distance to shops.
- Stephen (10/5): - The Hotel is close to Waverly Station and the Golden Mile, so it suited our requirements perfectly. We flew into Edinburgh enroute to a wedding in Long Niddry so we wanted to be close to the Waverly Station and wanted to site see in Edinburgh. The staff were great, the room was clean and we enjoyed the breakfast before heading out for the day.
