Guest Reviews
- KW1Northamptonshire (8/5): Welcoming Premier Inn - Have been to this Premier Inn several
times. The staff friendly, helpful and the rooms are clean. The location is good and near to central Milton
Keynes for shopping etc. The only good thing that the Brewers Fayre are good at is the breakfast which is good, plenty of choice and staff polite, different to when we went in for a drink when the Manager was rude and more interested in putting up Christmas decorations. We had eaten there on a previous visit but not again, we took a short walk around the lake to The Lakeside pub and Brewers Fayre could
learn somethings from them. This is a shame that Brewers Fayre lets down Premier Inn as the staff in the hotel work hard to make people feel at home.
Will back to this Premier Inn - keep up your great work.
- A276KLnancyd (10/5): Will be back - Enjoyed the delicious breakfast, multiple options and fresh ingredients. The place was spotlessly clean, the portions were generous and the staff was very polite and attentive. We look forward to visiting again.
- Jayemery78 (6/5): Premier inns have gone downhill - I think Premier Inn in general aren't as good as they once were. The Silent Night mattresses aren't anywhere near as comfortable as the the old Hypnos ones and I don't find the overall cleanliness of the rooms to be at the standard they used to be. This isn't just the Minehead hotel either, we used to use Premier Inns a lot because they were usually fairly priced and pretty consistent in quality. However I'm finding using independent or smaller chains to be a better option with greater attention to detail being taken. The best thing I can say about our recent trip was at least we didn't have to change rooms 3 times due to poor cleanliness unlike our previous stay last November.
- 624simonc (8/5): Great location, friendly staff - Great location with views over the lake from some rooms. The breakfast was excellent and the staff really attentive and welcoming. The restaurant next door, Hickories, was fully booked both nights, so if you plan on eating here book early.
The room was clean and tidy, but the only negative, it was starting to look a little tired and could do with a refresh.
- tmB994DF (10/5): Worthy - Lovely place, lake view room. Breakfast was so good with lots of choices. Breakfast chef very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again
- 821dorothyo (10/5): Clean Room & Great Service - We were welcomed warmly by Hector at the reception when we checked in and throughout our stay particularly during breakfast time. The kitchen/buffet staff/chef Nora was also friendly and smiled throughout our interaction with her making us feel at ease as we ate our breakfast. Overall we received excellent customer service throughout our stay.
- joeli578 (10/5): Amazing - The food was amazing. Chef Sharmila was too good and served the best and hit breakfast. The rooms were clean and tidy. We are very happy
- 341666 (6/5): Disappointing - One star down for charging £7 a night parking. Other hotels simply add reg no. to iPad. One star lost for not answering the phone. The new automated call service is a disaster. I was told, if there were a problem in the night, I should email the hotel. They said ‘we check our emails every couple of hours’. Not good enough.
- Gabor_Maros (10/5): Freshly made recommend - The food is amazingly great fresh and very reasonable price kids eat free and is a bargain also if they do very good service and you could donate money to a hospital in London! Recommend!
- O9482ACkellyg (10/5): We Will Be Back - Lovely hotel, everything clean, staff are friendly. Just difficult to find in the dark and pouring rain. A tip for anyone visiting, its the second roundabout, not the first one that shows a bed sign!!
- davidsJ5902CO (10/5): Good sleep - Great nights sleep staff fabulous
We stay 2 to 3 times a year well pleased
And will in future stay more at this inn thank you dave
- shalamar1965 (10/5): Nice and relaxing stay - Nice clean rooms, bed big and confortable. bathroom big close to town loverly area. Breakfast very nice considering buffet style all fresh and taisty
- Curious580931 (2/5): Worn out - Staff wonderful but the hotel is just worn out and cold. If it's a business trip, find somewhere else as the lakeside location is irrelevant
- jamesbS2912NR (2/5): Give it a MISS! - Don't shower - it's dirty, you are better off when you get home! The bed was so uncomfortable, quality of the linen was very poor. Dirty bathroom, carpets stained - overall this PI needs a full refurbishment - paint peeling, stained floor in the bathroom...AVOID! oh, and if you are cold, don't bother about trying to raise the temperature in the room - it doesn't allow you to, even though there is instructions!!
- annmZ1596FX (8/5): Our holiday in Minehead - The hotel is excellent and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The meals at Brewers Fayre are very good. We only had breakfast once as we had to pay for unlimited food. I only had cereal and fruit and it cost nearly £9. Didn't want any more so a bit expensive. Otherwise a very good experience. Friendly staff and quick service.
- hufri (10/5): Fabulous stay - This Premier Inn is situated alongside a lovely lake and next to a Hickory's Smokehouse.
We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the room was its usual high standard.
Breakfast was plentiful and the service was excellent.
- NorthStar49209717216 (10/5): Weekend break - Very clean Hotel and friendly efficient staff , location very good close to Milton Keynes, would definitely recommend for leasure or business.
- MerlinFalcon42 (10/5): Traditional Premier Inn experience. I'd choose Willen Lake for my next visit to Milton Keynes. - For a weekend away PI meets our family needs and remains our go-to budget hotel of choice. There are several PI's in Milton Keynes, though not all had vacancies. The other criteria I set is to have on-site parking (check - Though not free, was about £8 per 24 hours via an app/machine; air-conditioning - check, my wife likes a cool night's sleep; on-site restaurant - check, nicely laid out and up to PI's usual good standard. We included the buffet full-English for our stay, which was great and plentiful). The lake is accessible to walk around and a children's play area also close by. Willen Lake PI is obviously well used, though very clean with comfortable amenities. The staff are efficient, were always available and friendly.
- q1w2e3r4 (10/5): Good - Really good , clean room, staff friendly, a good premier inn . Close to sea front . Large car park . The restaurant next door is good too.
- robking114 (10/5): Clean, clear and simple - Great value for money in a lovely location. Really enjoyed the stay and have to say this is great value for money. Convenient EV chargers on site too.
- darrensY6885HW (10/5): Fab stay in Minehead - Great nights sleep. Friendly polite staff. Greta location, 10 mins walk from the beach front.
Really good breakfast to the Brewers Fayre. Again, helpful friendly staff and great service.
- teresasZ2911GI (10/5): Relaxing stay - First vist to a Premier Inn with my husband. Staff member was very helpful. The room was good and easy acess to next door for food with nice staff. Could not fault the time spent there
- 233norbertc (6/5): Room for Improvement - Good things:
- Clean
- Comfy bed
- Not too expensive
- Sweets left for my 9 year-old was a nice touch.
Bad things:
- Paying for parking takes the mickey to start with, and now the discount for Premier Inn customers has been reduced. I think I paid around £7.40. It's a hotel, not a train station
- Only two towels left for three of us
- Room is ventilated, but windows don't open at all. I don't like this.
- Breakfast at the Brewer's Fayre next door is good, but on Sunday morning it is insanely busy. You will likely need to queue before being seated.
- colincY8140SJ (10/5): Pre book the restaurant, you won't regret it. - What you expect from a Premier Inn, receptionist was amazing and so helpful and was very welcoming after a long day in meetings and driving. I have used the Smoke House restaurant on my previous stays and I would highly recommend pre booking this as they get very busy and it's worth the experience.
- JC1LondonEngland (6/5): Good location but needs an upgrade. - This hotel must be an older Premier Inn as it is a bit dated and in need of an upgrade. There is no air conditioning and to get fresh air you have to have the window open. There is no lift so if you can’t get upstairs ask for a ground floor room.
Being close to the A5 it can be a bit noisy.
Having said that it was very clean and the staff are friendly and it is in a good location to get to everything in MK but there is no shops close by to walk to. Plenty of free parking.
Restaurant attached is a Smokehouse which gets very busy
- F9744XRjudyh (10/5): Water sports are amazing - Came for the weekend with the kids for the water sports oh what a weekend. The hotel is in the perfect location right by the water a big restaurant over looking the lake and the food was really nice. The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely were coming back next summer it was amazing
- SummerSon2013 (8/5): Decent hotel, good staff and great location - Although the mill appears to have two hundred years worth of history, Caldecotte Mill was actually built in 1992. The sales were removed relatively recently. A small number of rooms have balconies. The car park is free and well lit; a bonus over many other Premier Inns, which charge a daily fee.
The check-in was quick and smooth. The employees were friendly. My room was number 17. Unfortunately for me, this was next to the stairs, but it was still pretty quiet overnight; surprisingly so, in fact. I paid extra for a view, so my room overlooked the lake. It was lovely being close to the water, giving the impression the hotel was located within a large private park (it is not). Breakfast was good quality, with plenty of choice. The hotel does not provide a meal deal option. It does not have its own restaurant. Instead, Hickory's Smokehouse, a very expensive restaurant is literally next door, occupying the actual mill itself. The shower was powerful enough, but the temperature varied between lukewarm and very hot. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
A good three night stay. I would definitely consider returning - although my perception of Milton Keynes itself is less positive following my stay (someone on a train tried to rob me, but I felt safe once back at the hotel). Cannot blame the hotel itself and I hope it does not put me off returning. The staff were helpful and worked very hard.
- 650hn (10/5): Stay and enjoy - Beautiful place large premier plus rooms well equipped. Amazing breakfast .very Helpful staff. Near the willen lake superb view. Place for all the family to enjoy 👍👍👍
- debwinship (10/5): Silent Night. - It's on an industrial estate but it's very near Minehead. You can park for your stay for 7 pounds. The staff were very friendly. Check in was very easy.
The room was clean and bright and despite being on the ground floor we could see countryside.
Prefer if the Windows would open a little , but air con worked brilliantly keeping us cool all night. The room was very quiet. The black out curtains were brilliant. Plenty of lights and sockets. Prefer a room higher up and a shower unit than one over the bath.
Good check out time of 12pm and check in of 3.
Very comfortable bed. Mattress was Fantastic.
There is a desk and seating. We had a nice big room with a chaise longue.
Brewer's Fayre were lovely. Very friendly and the food and drink was fine.
- PanCanada (8/5): Good mid range hotel - The good:
Great location with relatively easy access
The best breakfast of any Premier Inn I've stayed
Friendly staff
Plenty of parking
Has a restaurant
Close to other restaurants
Close to Red Bull factory tour (6 mins)
Standard Premier Inn rooms
The bad:
No air conditioning, the weather was hot while we were there but the room was very, very warm even though we had the roof window open
Hallways were quite unclean and smelled quite bad
Not enough towels in the room, a problem I've experienced with quite a few Premier Inn properties
Reception quite often unmanned.
The ugly:
The hotel and adjoining restaurant must have a night club, loud music was playing until about 2am. As the room was hot and we had the window open we could hear everything.
Would I stay here again:
Yes but only in the cooler months of the year, the rooms must be stifling hot in summer.
- 500trishu (6/5): Extortionate parking charges - We usually stay at this Premier Inn 5 or 6 times a year, for 2 or 3 nights each time.
Parking has always been chargeable and we never had an issue with this.
For non guests parking was £24 for 24 hours but guests got discounted rate of £3.96 for 24 hours.
Now the non guest parking is still £24 for 24 hours but the discounted rate is £7.90 for 24 hours, which is almost double!!!!
This makes the parking very expensive over 3 nights and has put us off staying again (unfortunately we already are booked for 2 months time)
We always ask for the same room and book premium plus room.
The room, especially the bathroom is looking a bit tired.
Dried soap or toothpaste on the bathroom wall (I cleaned it with water and toilet roll), chipped paint, brown grout in shower
We will be looking for somewhere that has free or reasonably priced parking from now on and will not return
- monikadV2450VO (10/5): I’m been in there couple of times and always happy with the area!Close to the Blechley Park! - Great Location!Clean and tidy!Great staff!Very helpful!Easy check in and check out!Very quiet place!Good for relaxing!Lovely!
- juliecS9897RX (10/5): Excellent - The staff at breakfast where so good. My husband is gluten free and the staff (Debbie and Hector) gave excellent service. All the food was brilliant, cooked to perfection.
- tambrose31 (4/5): Mediocre stay in an unwelcoming hotele Inglaterra hotel - Went with a cycling group. The hotel is on an industrial estate next to a main road surrounded by retail sheds abd fast food places abd a petrol station. Very unpleasant environment. Very surly staff checked us in. Not welcoming at all. Standard room. Some lumps of something on floor, so hadn't bern cleaned properly. Met a very over friendly passive aggressive drunk man in the corridor outside my room at 4 pm. Slightly intimidating. Mediocre breakfast. You can definitely do better elsewhere. A depressing place.
- Sightsee65158496808 (10/5): Good - We came for a vintage car rally friends only. Stopover night. All good from reception room car park. Dinner at hickory was great
- Drewdledrew (10/5): Holiday stop over - The hotel is very well placed and near to local amenities, only a short drive to the sea. Room was very clean and comfortable. The food on offer was excellent and plentiful and we enjoyed our breakfast.
Parking is charged for at this location but the car park is next to the hotel so no issues with taking luggage inside.
- peterf220 (10/5): Great Hotel at a reasonable Price. - Excellent Hotel for the price, Easy parking and very nice area to take a walk on an evening. Helpful staff, a Brewers Fayre restaurant next door with good selection of food and drink choices.
- Wiburtine (10/5): Recommended - In a good location, a spacious room with really comfortable beds for the best sleep and a nice bathroom with good size towels. All spotlessly clean.
Good food and great service at the on-site Brewer’s Fayre
- FarmerWhoGetsAbout (4/5): Worst Premier Inn I stayed at - Went to this Premier Inn on Wednesday (10th September) as it says on website check in at 3pm got there for when you get into rooms so only one room was ready and the other two rooms was not so had to wait 45 minutes for them to become available, so the other Family Members had to wait until 3:45pm before they could get into there rooms never had to wait that long to get into the rooms as been to other Premier Inn’s and the Rooms was ready at the said time on website, will not be staying at the Minehead Premier Inn again that will be the first and last time.
- K5882LJharryb (8/5): Premier Inn is always decent - Went for a family weekend we all had an amazing time at gullivers and around the surrounding are the staff accommodated us extremely well hats off to you all especially the guys in the restaurant (Brewers Fayre) they were amazing the Scottish guy was second to none I was certainly getting manager vibes if not he definitely needs to be he was brilliant I forgot his name sorry another young lad on the bar who was wearing different clothes than uniform on bar he was another asset to your team thankyou to all at brewers fayre especially when my dad bought the speaker in and you were more than happy for this to happen even joined in which was absolutely fantastic and to premier inn you were exceptional hosts thankyou
- U4044TMalanb (10/5): Premier inn - Excellent customer service. Excellent food and customer service in Brewers fayre especially watitress Reanna and Georgia Rooms were very clean and tidy plenty places to park your car. Premier inn snd brewers Fayre are set In a lovely location near the seafront snd town snd with bus service just outside the hotel
- LizaS1011 (4/5): Woken at 2.25am - I was woken up at about 2.25am by lots of voices, laughter and cheering. I hoped that they would go to their rooms so I could go back to sleep but sadly it continued. They kept visiting each others rooms , they would be knocking on doors loudly with lots of loud talking. I am disabled with several chronic health conditions for which I take some medication at night which make me drowsy. As the noise continued I eventually got out of bed at 2.50am, thought I might be brave enough to open door to ask them to keep noise down, I noticed the peephole in door, I looked out and could see 2 males stood inside the opposite room, they were keeping door open talking to the people in that room. There was no way I could go out there in my nightshirt , walk past them to go to the reception to complain. I didn’t want to disturb my husband by getting dressed etc. the noise of doors banging opening & closing and loud voices eventually died down just after 3am.
The next morning once dressed I went to the reception, the lady there was extremely sorry as comfort of sleep is what they are about and gave me a number to call to pass on my bad night experience. The receptionist knew that we could be repeat guests as have stayed a number of times at the Minehead Inn and there is cause to stay in the future when visiting my son who works nearby.
I rang the number I was given for guest relations, I explained the situation, that I couldn’t go to reception as I’d of needed to walk past at least 4 males that I could see through door eyehole. I was told if I couldn’t have gone to reception I should have called them, but I didn’t know I could or know the number. As nothing can be done I know will have to consider where to stay in the future when wanting to stay in that area.
- W4989TJchrisw (6/5): Hotel OK but linked Brewers Fayre restaurant very poor due to lack of staff, cleanliness & service - Hotel fine - Restaurant (Brewers Fayre) poor. Lack of staff - poor service - uncleaned tables. Food ok but felt more like a poor works canteen than a restaurant. Classic was the use of industrial trolley to go round and clear plates. Also amusing was the welcome signs - one saying wait to be served, one saying find a table and order at the bar. Some tables marked reserved and I had booked a table at hotel check in but ended up picking a random table as no greeters
- T4964LIgrahamb (4/5): Premier Inn has gone down hill - We booked two rooms, both family rooms; one did not have the right number of beds and the other had not been cleaned prior to us checking in and still has the previous occupants cot in it. We were also told that we could only have 2 mugs per room, despite paying more for two family rooms; one with 3 people and the other with 4 people.
- MummyPster1 (10/5): Never fails to deliver perfect experience - Great location Easy parking
Excellent room especially with Bath as well as shower…Very clean! . Bed super comfy
Staff friendly and efficient
Always fully satisfied with price (value for money), comfort and all round experience
- 261wieslawk (2/5): Car park rip off. - Car parking is extortionate. Lack of loo paper, unclean toilet, nail clippings on bed, TV can't get itv or channel4 &then froze only one card per room issued, had to leave the wife in dark as lights automatically to go out to get to reception to get TV fixed and more loo roll.
- Rosegarden25 (10/5): Pleasant surprise - The trip was booked for a special occasion and I would like to thank the whole team and their manager for making it extra special. I was not expecting the bunting, card, prosecco and chocolate as part of this celebration. The staff went above and beyond what was expected and even though I'm a l/t premier inn user it just solidifies this.
- I8142TQsued (4/5): Wouldn't stop here again - Car park was good after that is was downhill.
Rooms, bed too high had to jump to get on it, conversely toilets too low. No proper showers. Couldn't leave a light on in the room so walking back into darkness. Broken hangers, lamp that didn't work and key cards that had to be reset twice on both rooms. Oh and no usb charging points. Corridors wreaked for days of someones takeaway.
Restaurant full of screaming kids, desperately in need of a refit, a lot of ripped upholstery. Needed to book breakfast even though nowhere near full. Chaotic people wandering about with platefuls of hot food not knowing where they were going. Toaster burnt everything. Staff not helpful, bossy and rude on occasions.
Would not stop here again
- Jai-Herbert (10/5): A nice get-away for the summer - We have never had a problem with staying at Premier Inn and again, this time was no different. We stayed at Premier Inn Willen Lake over the Easter hols this year and went back for break in the summer hols. We had an amazing stay.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely friendly and helpful. I'm gutted I didn't get all the names as they all deserve to be named. Afia, you were amazing. Please pass on our thanks to your colleagues. We had an amazing stay.
Two rooms were booked and both were spotless.
The hotel itself is in a fab location, right by Willen Lake.
We went at the time where the fair was there and lots of water activities were happening.
Everything felt well looked after.
We had the meal deal package. The food at the Brewers Fayre was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. Some days, yes! It was busy but nothing we could grumble about. We were always made to feel welcome.
A big thank you to the team at the Premier Inn and at the Brewers Fayre. I wish I could personally thank everyone but didn't remember to get everyone's name.
We will be back real soon.
- sallycO3889EX (10/5): Great hotel in a lovely location - Lovely hotel, great location we had a lakeside view. Hotel was clean and tidy and the room was fantastic.
Plenty of parking. The hotel was quiet to say it was near a busy road. Great location if you are going to Bletchley Park. Would recommend
- 996humah (10/5): Highly recommend - The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff exhibited exceptional professionalism. However, I would like to highlight the remarkable work of one staff member, Emma, who was employed in the breakfast restaurant. Her exceptional care and attention to detail were particularly evident when interacting with myself and my four-year-old child. Emma’s encouraging approach to introducing him to a variety of foods resulted in a positive and memorable experience. Her kindness and genuine care for my child were truly commendable. Emma’s actions exemplify the exceptional level of service provided by the hotel staff.
- traceywE8772NA (10/5): Superb stay - Superb accommodation and staff were brilliant. Quality of food at breakfast was also very good. Location was the best I’ve known as at it’s right by the lake with some fantastic walks and lots of wildlife. Great place to eat was right next door and a local pub was a 15 minute walk away alongside the lake
- rcurl1966 (10/5): Excellent stay - All good, the room and staff
Food was good location as well
I highly recommend this place
Nice area
I'll give five stars !!
- iansN4663LW (10/5): Family get together in Minehead - Good, clean, friendly, good value. Consistent as always and staff we available and great. Good sized car park. Great location for seaside and town
- happygirlie12345 (10/5): Lovely 3 Night Stay - Been here for 3 nights & have had a fantastic trip. Quick, efficient check in by a polite gentleman. Room was very cool on arrival which was great, so someone had taken the time to ensure the air con was put on ready. Tea & coffee provided, clean bathroom & all superb. Beds were comfy & extra pillows were great to have. Slept so well every single night.
I phoned up a week in advance to make sure we had a ground floor room & this was done for us. Much appreciated. Very accommodating for me when I am on my own with my young child.
Delicious breakfast & evening meals in the attached Brewers Fayre, with very friendly & welcoming staff. All hotel staff seen on reception & housekeepers were all very chatty & friendly as well. We shall be back again this year for our forth visit!
Thank you Premier Inn, Minehead 😊
- florenceaB4988PL (10/5): Good stay expensive vending machines - Car park price is still expensive with the discount and I find paying for hotel car parks not right should be included in the price of your stay. .the vending machines are too expensive a bottle of water was £3 too expensive. Room was lovely and comfortable. Bed amazing. Breakfast was really good.
- C5649KKlorraines (10/5): Great night sleep - Even though it was busy the check in was easy and the staff friendly and approachable. Room was clean and comfortable and had a great night sleep
- Venture21364531662 (8/5): My review - The overall rooms were good. I found the mattress very hard to sleep on. When we went for the evening meal which we payed for the evening meal and breakfast, one of the staff members over charged me by over £100 im now having to wait for a refund but before I payed i did question if he had taken our meals off and he said yes but I knew he hadn't. Just lucky I had money with me
- victoriamJ7734FY (10/5): Great enjoyable stay. - Nice clean big room. Large comfortable bed. Lovely lake area next to the hotel. Nice clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Just needed a little more storage/drawer space. We will definitely stay again.
- 256darrylp (8/5): First impressions - Never stayed at Premier Inn Willen Lake before. The booking of the room online was easy as was the check in. overnight payment for the parking was easy. Our dinner, which was a meal deal and as part of a major gathering was very tasty and plentiful. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The only down side however was the lack of manning of the front desk.
