Guest Reviews
- fionapR5400AW (10/5): 10 out of 10 - We would recommend dining here again. The food was amazing and our waitress Becky delivered outstanding service. Always smiling and nothing was to much trouble for her. Definitely going to be going back in the future.
- karendT8970JU (10/5): Brilliant Service - Visited this Premier Inn for the first time in a few years. Was served by a lovely lady called Becks. She was lovely & very welcoming. Will definitely be back 😊
- Globetrotters478 (10/5): Nice hotel, great location, worth it. - Great location, spacious room, comfortable bed, good price, and lovely staff. Breakfast and meals can be pre-ordered for the restaurant, with a good variety to choose from. What's not to like!
- Safari57026278553 (6/5): Average - We were a group of 20 family members from different parts of the world visiting together and although they do have big tables they insisted on separating the family during breakfast. Very disappointed
- Stine (10/5): - Brilliant check in assistance and breakfast service.
- barrio2022 (2/5): Poor Premier Inn - Very disappointed with this hotel not what I expected from Premier Inn or the beefeater restaurant.
Cleanliness in the hotel was not good, staff unfriendly and unhelpful overall not a nice experience
- danallen03 (2/5): WiFi blocking - Uncomfortable and smelly room , you are conned it to buying WiFi as they are using a blocking device as you have 5g out side and as soon as you walk in the door your phone signal disappears, yes they offer free WiFi but it’s terrible, it’s 2025 WiFi should be free .
- KevinPhilips (2/5): I must have stayed in a different place to the other reviewers - I'll start with the positive/s.
1. The location makes it easy to be back on the road in the morning.
2. The staff we spoke with were lovely
The hotel is undergoing a refurb - they told me this after I had booked ! The onsite bar and restaurant closes at 10pm and serves drinks in cans - no draught. We arrived very late at night and woke to mould at the tops of the bedroom walls. I stay at lots of premier inns but this one is truly grotty. You normally know you’re getting basic and no frills but this goes way beyond the depths of what should be acceptable for a business that sells hotel rooms.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Good for an over nite stay, motorway 3 min drive, tavern next door (didn’t eat there) but menu had a good variety, supermarket 5 min drive.
- liamcX1370QV (4/5): Terrible food - Food tasted like it was cooked in fat from 1875
felt sick after eating it and the chicken goujons made my hands smell like a dead badger , if your thinking of eating here don’t I’d advise you to pop over Morrisons for a meal deal .
- Dreamer46323464810 (4/5): No free early check in, even for 30mins earlier! - No free early check in, even for 30mins earlier!
We found a dirty sock on the floor! Room and bathroom are not clean...
The receptionist in the evening was nice and gave a free charger to use.
No free WiFi, the signal is very weak if you use SIM card WiFi.
- A8581OQpatrickl (4/5): Disappointed - This place needs a total revamp. Extremely tired looking inside.
We were met by cheerless receptionist who seem to have forgotten how to smile. l suppose when your work in a soulless atmosphere it much be catching.
The room was okay reasonably clean....however the bed was extremely comfortable. Which is why l give this review 2 stars instead of one.
Most of the doors in the corridors where battered and bruised especially the one connecting the hotel th the restaurant.
Then the price, it was priced at over £50 more than it normally is. l've checked it out over several different days.
l use Premier lnn several times during the year but l certainly won't be coming back to this one
- 718richies (4/5): Mouldy room. Hotel needs a refurb - The room was rank. Horrible smell when we got in. Room 30. Then figured out the bathroom ceiling was covered in mould. And the toilet barely flushes. We will never stay here again. A health risk. I can’t speak for other rooms in the hotel.
- jackierN1755UP (10/5): An amazing stay with amazing staff - An amazing Welcome from staff - friendly, welcoming and all very efficient at their job. Rooms, although smelt a little damp initially but putting on heating warmed up quickly and felt homely. Due to closure of the pub next door, they have done an amazing job job with offering Breakfast and an Evening meal. Jamie was such a lovely young man, who takes pride in his job. He is friendly, welcoming and runs the place amazingly. He was very accommodating and the restaurant (on VERY) minimal staff ran perfectly. Our breakfast was 100%, A fantastic choice on offer, both continental and a fully Cooked Breakfast. It came out quickly and was lovely and hot. All food was of a high quality, lovely and tasty. The Mesl Deal was brilliant - well priced and again 100%. Well Done to all of the Team.
- GoPlaces60385523939 (8/5): Premier Inn Liskeard - Premier Inn Liskeard was in a good location for our trip.
The staff were really friendly but the hotel itself could do with a little modernising as the rooms need a bit of updating.
Breakfast was very good.
Some of our party had dinner too, and said the food was great.
- Voyager44491622745 (2/5): Awful - unclean room, unmade bed, previous occupants underwear on the floor, lights not working, smelt and felt damp, one set of towels for 2 people. I could go on...
- G1295TGgemmar (10/5): Best hotel stay - I've had the best 4 night stay, will be returning in November and again next year, staff are very welcoming and friendly and helpful.
Nothing has been to much of an issue since I arrived on Thursday. Thank you team premier inn liskeard
- D3083XUlisas (6/5): Great for location, that’s about it. - Great for location.
Room ok but filthy carpet, coffee machine hadn’t been cleaned out from previous person, used coffee pods and water in the bottom of the machine, sink in the bathroom could do with a good scrub!
Bed itself was comfortable, pillows horrendous! Flat as a pancake and rock hard, woke up through the night with neck ache, bring your own.
Breakfast was good, cooked nice and received what you wanted. BUT had to tell them they were out of cutlery, which was dirty, had to tell them they were out of sugars, and the doors into the restaurant were filthy and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months, with finger prints all over them , ugh! These are basic checks which should be done every morning and obviously aren’t being done. No pastries apart from a sad little couple of pancakes, we were having breakfast at 9am so not late and expected there to be some pastries.
Emailed a query before we came, never got a reply! Tried ringing before we came, no reply. So don’t know if they haven’t got enough staff or they don’t care.
All in all we wouldn’t stay here again, sad really as it’s in a great location, if it was £50 a night I’d expect this but it was over a £ 100 a night, could definitely do better, especially with the cleanliness part.
- janetcH1558UU (4/5): Poor Quality - Postcode on websites incorrect, must follow details on email booking instead. Extremely limited food for evening meal. Food on very basic menu was reduced because of a so called 'shortage' - no rice to go with curries, no soup, no fish to go with fish & chips, no garlic bread to go with other meals. No draught beer in pub. Staff very embarrassed. Hotel needs refurbishing.
- Inspire21893608848 (2/5): Used to be a good stay, not any more!!! - Liskeard Premier Inn.
We have stayed there many times and never had reason to complain. This time the room we had was 'tired', flaking paint and the key card holder was hanging from the wall, meaning there were no lights until I fixed it myself. We told the reception staff, who were not too concerned!!??
"Yes it sometimes happens when customers take out theie keycard"
Perhaps this could have been checked when the room was made ready if it's a common problem??
We booked a table at the restaurant for an evening meal. On arrival at the restaurant we were told that there was no fish, there was no rice, there was no draught beer and several other items were now off the menu. I used to like the chicken curry and a pint!! We didn't fancy curry and chips and a bottle of lager, so we reluctantly cancelled and then had to find an alternative meal in Liskeard. Not easy at 7.30 on a Sunday. I spoke to the manager when we returned to the hotel and she was less than helpful. She did ask if we wanted breakfast next morning and we declined, we didn't want to go down to breakfast to find no bacon,no eggs and no tea!
I don't blame the people on site, it is the management above who obviously don't care about providing meals. Very, very sad.
- judycE796PI (4/5): Disappointed in evening meal & cleanliness generally. - Very restricted evening meal. No fish were available the 4 nights we stayed. No ice cream for 2 nights. 2 napkins left under a table over our 4 night stay. I question whether there is a daily cleaner for the restaurant? Had cooked breakfast & one morning the baked beans were cold! The worst bit had to be the bedroom sheet. The sheet was covered in dry blood stains! Why would housekeeping put a blood stained sheet on the bed,? Informed reception who gave me another sheet. Went to use the shower & couldn't turn it off. Reception managed to turn it off, but the shower needed a new washer. No maintenance on site until the following morning. ( This was at 7pm). Good points were Beccy who served breakfast. She worked very hard & always had a chat with us.
- 260dannyc (6/5): Restaurant woes. - Having stayed here many times before I was stunned by the sudden down turn in what is normally a really good stopping point.
The restaurant was atrocious with 2 items off the menu on our first night and 7 items off the menu on the second night. No buns for the burgers, no fish so had to have a small portion of fish bites from the kiddies menu. Also no ice cream for the 5 items on the sweet menu that require ice cream.
No draught beer. No Guinness!!!
No drawer space in the bedroom & despite booking a prem plus room especially for the coffee machine I then found that getting more coffee from the desk was a struggle in itself. Managed to get 2.
The only saving grace was the dedication of the staff who are struggling to keep the guests happy despite the failings of management. Especially Becky who was a real lively and pleasant addition to breakfast.
Clearly the currant management doesn't care.
Oh, and the coffee machine leaked.
- Sherpa02050400992 (6/5): Nice room poor restaurant - The premier plus room definitely worth it, much better lighting and amenities and for the first time in a premier inn the heating actually worked. WiFi was patchy. The only big disappointment was the restaurant it was quiet i had a reservation for 7:30 I was seated then the lady just left me didn't even take a drinks order 15 mins later she finally turns up for a food order, 30 mins later still nothing ended up just walking out.
- jameskM9844HL (10/5): Stay at Premier Inn Liskeard - Lovely place, food outstanding served by Becky who is a real gem! Can't do enough for you and always jolly, definitely be back again!
- D3429BOdavew (10/5): Great place , shame about the beer - Great place, great staff, very comfortable bed. Felt very welcome.
Only problem for us is they don't sell alcoholic beer on draught.
- grahamsG2346JD (10/5): Good. - Room immaculate, service really good. Such a shame the pub / Restaurant is being wound down. Short sightedness on the higher management.
- elizabethbG4085WN (8/5): Another good stay. - Have lost count of the number of times we have stayed here. Good hotel but starting to show its age.
We continue to go back because of the convenient location and convenient transport links.
In our opinion there are far too many parking spaces allocated to blue badge and disabled, along with electric charging points.
Meaning elderly and less able (ourselves) have to park away from the hotel on the Tavern car park or at the bottom end of the car park and struggle with our luggage to reception.
For many years we have said one of these time we come here they will be building a housing estate on the fields opposite , it has happened.
This has totally spoiled the rural views for miles of the countryside.
Nothing to do with hotel but worth a mention.
No complaints about hotel, clean and comfortable.
Staff accomodating and very pleasant.
- ajb1997 (6/5): Two night stay - We recently stayed at the Premier Inn M8 J3 and found it to be a convenient and reasonably priced hotel with the added benefit of good parking facilities, although the spaces did seem to fill up rather quickly later on in to the evening. The staff were welcoming and the overall service was in line with what you would expect from a Premier Inn.
That said, there were a few drawbacks. The room we stayed in was located at the back near to what appeared to be a delivery point for goods in, as well as the waste collection area, which meant we were disturbed very early in the morning by operational noise. In addition, the traffic noise was more noticeable than expected, which further affected the quality of sleep. The hotel itself also feels a little dated and would benefit from a refresh to bring it up to the standard of some of the newer Premier Inn hotels.
- U6755UUcherylb (4/5): 4 night stay. -
Great & helpful staff. Good restaurant with generous portions. Rooms clean but dated. Noisy wooden floors above us. Unhygienic shower curtain. Sensor lights in corridors (otherwise dim).
- Jackarino (4/5): Poor value - The rooms are tired looking, drainage poor in toilet, staff are hard to find on reception and those you did find, looked fed up. The breakfast service was poor, nothing was replenished timely even though it wasnt busy and things like cereal, fruit and herbal tea, they were awaiting a delivery, very poor. Gone are the days when a premier inn was cheap, it was expensive for 2 nights for 2 rooms with breakfast.
- Healsby (4/5): Hot as balls and noisy as hell - Unbearably hot in room, was 18 degrees outside but our room on the second floor did not dip below 25, much too hot for a comfortable nights sleep, despite having a fan in the room. As others have said you need to leave the window open but close proximity to M8 means it’s noisy through the night. Duvet was too thick for summer. Room was tired, too few plug sockets and old wood shelving and table. Really need to be booking hotels with AC in the summer now in the UK - premier inn need to retrofit some.
- bubbles2two (2/5): 2 star hotel, red hot room, needs a refurbishment - Good night guarantee does not exist! I did not get a good night sleep and they did not honour the policy! Do not stay here, it needs a deperate refurb. It is a 2 star hotel in the state it is in.
I explained the bath matt was disgusting along with the bath. There was silver tape on the towel rail, stains on the carpet. The description said it had no air conditioning but you could not open a window as it was so noisy outside. It was insanely hot even with the fan on. If the heat doesnt kill you the noise will. Constant doors banging, room service shouting in the morning and noise in the carpark .
The staff were lovely, when i spoke to them they agreed the bath tubs are disgusting and the place needed a refurbishment. There was no roilwt roll and the holder was filthy. Had to ask for toilet paper.
The light leaks in the room feom above the curtains.
It is worth getting the breckfast at the beefeater, if you do decide to stay, it is very good value for money.
If you have a gig at Murrayfield stadium do not stay here. You will get there but wont get back. Took us 3 hours to get home as there was no taxis.
The room had three plug sockets by the kettle none at all by the bed.
- jonathanh5392 (4/5): Tired hotel and very warm - The room was unbelievably warm and didn't cool over a three night stay
Plenty of parking and nice beefeater next door
One member of reception staff Kasia has 0 customer service skills
The place is a bit tired
- jenbL2386IX (10/5): Great place to stay for a friends wedding. - We were part of a small group of people who were staying for a friend’s wedding - including the Best Man and the photographer. People from the group travelled from England and Ireland as well as local friends staying - including the Groom for the night before his wedding. The hotel rooms were comfy and convenient and the restaurant and bar were also great for meeting up at and having good times with our. friends. The staff were all so helpful particularly Kerrie who was knowledgable and really cared about her work. She helped the Best Man so much and sorted our shareholder breakfasts so it was easy.
- neilsA9706OW (10/5): Great Night in Livi - Had a great time staying the night before my wedding. The staff were helpful and friendly. Had a good night in the bar. The breakfast was great and set me up for my big day. The woman working reception gave me a small gift as I was leaving to get married.
- 566reenam (6/5): M8 is really noisy throughout the night - No AC in rooms, and you have to keep the window open for air. M8 motorway traffic continues all night, and you won't be able to sleep well in this hotel.
- 465siobhanf (8/5): Pretty much was what you expect from a premier inn - One of the better Premier Inn I've stayed at! Simple and easy check in/out. They attached beefeater was again one of the better ones we've used. A few hidded cobwebs but no complaints over cleaning standard. Would definitely use again.
- govinderm2025 (8/5): I enjoyed my stay. - Nice Staff, Good Parking, Good Room but no Air Con. I had som expensive items left in my room over the 3 nights I stayed, and these were not messed around with. But then again, they did inform me that nobody will come into my room, unless I requested so.
- 769nathanm (8/5): Dated for a Premier Inn but clean and comfy - One of the more dated Premier Inn locations I've stayed at (time for an upgrade soon, hopefully!) However, the room was clean and as spacious as you can expect for a family of 5. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful when checking us in.
Rooms aren't air conditioned and windows have limiters on them so in the midst of a (rare) Scottish heatwave, the room was verging on too hot to sleep in. The night was saved by the fan provided in the room and helped us all get a much-needed rest.
Great location, only 15 minutes away from Edinburgh Airport, which was the reason we chose this location. If you don't opt for the breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, the BP across the road provides a great selection of Marks and Spencers food.
- Q5626BFfionac (8/5): Four night stay for highland show - Check in was very easy, straightforward and quick. Staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
Room on second floor. Clean, tidy and comfortable bed. Room was nice, roomy and airy.
Had meals next door in beefeater to which I’ll do a separate review.
Plenty car parking available and free of charge.
- newenglandgrl27 (2/5): Cheap and nasty - It may have been good back in the day but today is not that day.
The parking lot and entrance are littered with trash and there was an overflowing trash can by the front door. A large bag of ice melt lies on the ground forgotten on the other side.
If you are disabled or have your hands full of luggage or children you will struggles as none of the many doors are automated.
Check in was fairly quick. I did
not appreciate providing a copy of my passport when I already booked and paid in full.
The receptionist was nice and seemed to be working with a trainee. There were not many staff seen.
The room was a huge disappointment. It was run down and just not nice.
There are no amenities at all. They obviously consider soap a luxury so they don’t give you any. You can use wall mounted combination shower gel and shampoo.
I’d be careful what you eat and drink because using hand toilet is quite unpleasant. They can barely spare you some toilet tissue. Not only do you not get soft paper, it’s not even a roll rather it’s a dispenser that is wall mounted and dispenses a single sheet of rough single ply paper.
The hotel common areas are not
Clean and have a musty smell.
The restaurant was not good either. It used to be my favorite place to grab a steak.
The table was sticky at lunch. The menu changed and not for the good. Gone are the nice meals replaced with what appear to be cheap microwaved pre made food.
Breakfast is no longer a full buffet. It’s a continental buffet with the ability to order some cooked items.
It was ok but not as what we expected.
The hotel was more like a homeless shelter than a hotel.
- Foodietraveller0301 (10/5): Great short stay! Would stay again :) - We stayed for 1 night ahead of the Edinburgh half marathon so it was important we got a good night’s rest! We did - the room was warm, beds were comfy and the shower was good too. We even had a tea using the complimentary bags before leaving early the next morning. Thanks!
