Guest Reviews
- paulnR2058FT (2/5): Save the hassle and dont stay here - We arrived at 9pm after a 5hr car journey , the room stunk of urine, and the bed sheet was stained and wet , with several long black human hairs in the bed.
We immeadiatley contacted the lady on reception who came to look and we asked for another room , which she said they couldnt offer as they were full.
We wouldnt have left a pet in that room never mind a guest.
We found a best western hotel at chigwell and stayed there .
When we asked for a refund 2 days later by email they had provided they firstly claimed we checked out the following day , then after 9 days investigating they have offered 41pound refund from 110 pound paid .
The staff at this hotel are not honest to their own people and the crap they have made up is ridiculous , claiming they offered to clean room and sheets ,when they told us nobody was available as it was late at night and a weekend.
- alexkL3418YH (10/5): Top staff and comfortable stay - Had an amazing stay at this Premier Inn in Nov. 2025 for a work trip. Briony and her team including Elaine and AJ were proper kind and super helpful. The breakfast was top notch and the room spacious and quiet all night. And the shower was very enjoyable. 11/10 highly recommended.
- lisagI8034OL (2/5): Awful - Awful from the moment we arrived. Receptionist was miserable as sin even raised her eyebrows at my mother in law. No warm welcome at all it was more like we were a nuisance for paying for early check in. Our family room was rotten. The bathroom had water damage all around it and the whole room was in desperate need of an update. The food menu and remote for tv was sticky. Just disgusting. Room was boiling hot bed was rock hard and pillows too. No hair dryer. Breakfast was a joke had to wait for certain food items to be cooked they just let it run out item by item so it seems. Toaster stopped working, fruit was soggy and gross. Just not enough food for the amount of guests. Should be that you order what you want and it’s cooked fresh would work better. Would never stay here again. Travelodge would have been better.
- normanwright66 (10/5): Perfect - The location was perfect for us with a lovely surrounding . The welcome from staff and the pleasantness was greatly received.our room was Excellant , warm & cosy .
Cost is always important and for two nights it was a very good price. The whole pls e was very clean , breakfast was superb .
We will be back ….
It’s a shame premier inn doesn’t have a loyalty card as such .
- mastra-6277 (10/5): Fantastic and warm welcome - I arrived at 2am after working a night shift. The card coder machine would not work to give me a key when I got there and the lady behind the reception was fantastic. She immediately identified I was tired so she walked me up the stairs and opened my room saying that she would put a card under my door ready for the morning once she had managed to get the card machine up and running. She was very good ambassador for your hotel. I asked the ladies name in the morning and was told her name was Jo.
- jontys448 (10/5): Great - Everything I needed in the room and a great breakfast
Good location for the training course we were on also a great Pub one minutes
Great value
Staff helpful and friendly
Many thanks
- sl30b (6/5): Cold, uncomfortable woken by male staff member entering our room - We arrived early and were directed to the pub next door until our room was ready which wasn’t not a problem. The room was clean, tidy and spacious, however it was cold and smelt of damp. The mattress was really hard and uncomfortable and so were the pillows. My partner can sleep anywhere and even he had a disturbed sleep. We worked the heating as per the instructions in the room unfortunately the room didn’t warm up until the early hour which added to the poor sleep experience. Check out wasn’t until 12 which was a reason we booked the room as we went to an event which didn't finish while late and we wanted a lay in. We were woken by a slight knock to the door and a male staff member entering our room to clean it it was not necessary and ruined it for us. We couldn’t report the problems to reception as no one was available as we checked out.
- A6395OAjanm (10/5): Unbelievable value for money! - This hotel is in a great location, just off the M1 but far enough that we didn’t hear any traffic noises inside the building. The staff were excellent, the room was spacious and very comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding!
- Thomas (10/5): - good
- elijusg2025 (10/5): great hotel - there was good service and the people there were so nice. the rooms were clean and well looked after. the location of this hotel was perfect and everything was up to standard.
- 805evitaj (10/5): Excellent - Good experience at the hotel , nice spacious and clean room , breakfast hot , I did had everything what I needed , nice team
- Escape791720 (4/5): Outrageous prices for poor service - Check in efficient.
Room was well equipped and clean, smelled a bit damp.
Following morning breakfast which was 10.99. was quite disgraceful. Arrived at 9.30 to find no meat products or hash browns available beans, tomatoes only. We ended up having a staggered breakfast. One slice of bacon with a hash brown. Later on a sausage on its own. I don't eat eggs but my husband's was overcooked. It's was extremely busy and they were totally understaffed. I want to make it clear that one lady seemed to be working very hard to refill in the restaurant, non stop whilst others seemed to be wandering around not knowing what to do and not really working at any pace. The chef focused on tomatoes and mushrooms and seemingly no meat. He was on his own with two ovens and a packed restaurant. He also checked his phone and then handled tomatoes without gloves or washing his hands so hygienewise not great, but he was also alone and perhaps needed another person to help.
After breakfast our card key failed to allow us access to the corridor where our room was. We spoke to reception and then tried again, still no access another couple came up, their card didn't work either. I went to the lady on reception, she opened the door with her card and a smug flourish as if we'd been doing it all wrong, then disappeared. Following this our card didn't allow access to our room, luckily reception lady was there to help us gain access and tell us it was our fault because the card had been by a mobile phone. It hadn't. No apology for all the hanging about and inefficient equipment.
All in all an expensive hotel stay that was not value for money. Premier Inn need to up their game and employ more staff who can provide better customer service and food if they are going to charge these prices.
- Jeff (8/5): - The staff was great. The bathroom was vintage
- ColinI_12 (10/5): Great stay - Well-appointed bedroom and bathroom, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast cooked to order, great vfm. Extra characters.
- U3393HAmichaelf (10/5): Comfortable stay - Comfortable stay in an accessible room at this Premier Inn. We have an Assistance Dog so we chose Wakefield South for walking access to river walks for the dog.
- Ann (8/5): - Room and bathroom clean, loved the breakfast options
- Wadey1972 (4/5): Premier Inn South Junction 39 M1 - I have stayed at this Premier Inn many times in the past four years. This was the worst ever stay. The mattress was worn out springs coming through and dented. There was no comfortable sleeping position and I didn’t sleep. The soundproofing in the room was complete rubbish and I could hear everything the neighbours were saying and their telly up until about midnight .
I have tried to raise the issue with the customer satisfaction team a very confrontational young man who basically said that because I didn’t get up in the middle of the night go downstairs in my pyjamas to clean to the front reception, but it is all my fault as when booking it I’d signed up to their good night guarantee and that’s what it says in there.
- 865zakariyab (10/5): Next evolution style room is stunning from premier inn - Just stayed in the next evolution style room,it was a beautiful 1 night stay and they were nice enough to give us 3 beds when we only booked 2.Would 100% be staying here again
- ken271 (8/5): Very helpful friendly staff with a very smart shower room. - Good location with a breakfast room and the staff were so helpful, our room 104 was a family room but a little on the small side but very modern with a fantastic shower room, no bath.
- pennypH5000HF (10/5): Lovely weekend getaway - Great customer service by the friendly receptionist warm welcome. Nice clean room. Lovely quiet location with a pub nearby. Free parking is a bonus
- mjgman63 (10/5): Very good - Usual first class Premier Inn job. Nothing fancy, but you know what you are getting and they do it very well. Breakfast is in the hotel's own restaurant and is standard Premier Inn fare - but again it's tasty and filling and very good value (especially if you have a hungry child with you eating free).
- 448gggggg (10/5): Good - The location convenient for me , not far from M25 . Breakfast delicious and breakfast team were brilliant . Room ok but need refreshment
- lisajM491XX (10/5): Lovely stay - Had a lovely stay here at Waltham abbey. Breakfast was lovely and the rooms was spotless had a lovely night sleep would definitely come back again. Lovely area
- H7946ZLmattb (10/5): One of the best Premier Inn hotels I've stayed in - Very cozy atmosphere. Room was very clean and spacious. The staff, especially Gitana were very helpful and went above and beyond to make the stay feel like being at home.
The car park was packed but surprisingly the noise level at the hotel was minimal.
With the room and the services provided it was an amazing value for money. Definitely will be staying here again.
- andrewlD3726EK (4/5): Lights - Telling your customers that they need to put the door card into a slot, so they can actually use the lights in the very dark room would make the experience a lot better.
- mrssl2025 (10/5): Could not fault stay - Staff are excellent, very obliging. Rooms clean and tidy especially as cleaning staff had to carry all equipment up the stairs as the lift was not working.
Breakfast was excellent as were catering and waitress staff so kind, considerate taking into account individuals requests and special requirements. Nothing was too much trouble. It’s a pity the Red Kite restaurant/pub next door doesn’t match in any way the high standards of food etc. of the Premier Inn Wakefield.
- KjA0706 (4/5): Loud early morning wake up - The hotel itself is nice but this is our second stay and second time woken up before 7am by their delivery, I cannot understand how this is normal practice outside a hotel?
It must be what I assume is a linen delivery, turns up very early morning, makes an absolute racket slamming the doors and wheeling the cages loudly across the car park, the first time I let it go as an unfortunate incident but the fact it’s happened again tells me this is a regular occurrence.
I just wanted a good nights rest!!
- 926astam (10/5): Good - Good stay ,i stayed the for The wedding party with my friends , reception and breakfsat staff were brilliant and very helpfull . Only problem that no air comditioning in The Rooms
- 474audriusm (10/5): Very good - i did visit my friends at waltham abbey and stayed at this Premier Inn. The staff were brilliant, breakfast delicious .Rooms clean and spacious. The pub Next door very convienet ..........
- anthonybassett (2/5): What a dump - What a dump! Bedroom furniture is falling apart. Mould behind bathroom taps. No walk in shower but climb over the bath. Everything looks grubby and tired. Lenny Henry would be ashamed to promote this place.
Despite all the above the staff have done their best to try and help.
- Departure43973025661 (10/5): Thank you Louise. Your a star. - Typical Premier in but the the receptionist, Louise went the extra mile to elevate the experience to 5 star stay. Found the hotel quiet despite being full.
- alisonfB3236CD (6/5): Premier inn great, snoring neighbour not great - Premier Inn Waltham Abbey really does have lovely staff and a nice location. Parking was great and rooms were clean. We also had the breakfast which had lots of choice. On paper, it should’ve been a perfect stay.
But the rooms are definitely not soundproof. I was on the lower floor, which meant I had front-row seats to the Snoring Olympics, complete with the warm-up event of midnight step-count training. Every footstep echoed, every floorboard creaked, and the main event was a surround-sound snoring performance that went on for hours.
Sleep total: about two hours. I’d forgotten my earplugs (my mistake) but I was surprised they don’t sell them at reception I asked to move, but the hotel was fully booked, so I had no choice but to cheer on my upstairs neighbour as they powered through their events.
So yes: staff = brilliant, location = lovely, sleep = optional. Book a top-floor room or bring industrial-strength earplugs… unless you’re keen to attend the Snoring Olympics live, in full surround sound. It’s a shame as the hotel was lovely but lack of sleep (not premier inn fault) spoilt our trip.
- Journey67862989432 (10/5): Great break, friendly staff - Great break, Sue on reception was exttremely helpful solving a booking issue we had and made sure everything was sorted for us and couldn't do enough to help, really friendly, beds very comfy, food good
- robertgU8043AI (8/5): Adequate Premier Inn - Not a lot you need to say about Premier Inns as they're all much the same - which is their appeal to me. This one is well located for Wakefield and The Sculpture Park. It doesn't have aircon which means in the summer you need your windows open - and the deliveries at 06:00 will wake you up.
Red Kite pub next door is ok for a drink but not too good for food - if you can manage a 10 minute walk, the Swan and Cygnet is a better option.
- 718AM (10/5): Great service from Liza - Great service from Liza I was travelling all day and received quick efficient service selecting a room with the facilities I required thanks for your help
- Discover624035 (10/5): Excellent value - Impressed with this hotel. Convenient situation, spotlessly clean rooms, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff who made time to answer my granddaughter's many questions.
- pauliM4285LI (10/5): Brilliant stay 10/10 - Had a really pleasant 2 night stay at premier inn Waltham abbey…. All staff are really helpful and polite. Housekeeper Courtney went above and beyond and done a very professional clean of the room for our 2nd night stay. Would 100% recommend staying here.
- Scoobs33 (10/5): Thanks Jane - After arriving here last night at 9pm I found I'd booked the wrong date & in fact I was a day early !! I wasn't quite sure what I could do as I needed a bed for the night.. Jane was on reception & reassured me that she would find me a room. She was extremely patient & somehow managed to bring my booking forward to the night I turned up & the bonus was it was all done without any extra cost... Thank you so much Jane for your help...
- lovetot2015 (10/5): Family night away - We stayed in a family room for one night, the room was spotless. Plenty of room lovely comfy beds and lovely big bathroom. We had breakfast the staff were very pleasant and plenty to eat and drink. We were visiting cannon hall farm and it was only a short car journey away. Nice and near plenty of places to eat
- C4798INtraceym (10/5): Friendly staff - Elaine serving breakfast was the nicest! Put a massive smile on my daughters face with her lovely complement. Breakfast was extra yummy too.
- ParadisGirl (10/5): Great hotel. Clean, modern. Great location and quiet - Great hotel. Really well situated. Quiet. Mostly friendly staff. Had continental breakfast which was good, chef friendly too. Just a lovely premier inn. Location is great for Leeds and motorway too.
