Guest Reviews
- M4956TVjamesd (2/5): So sad so bad - Really sad experience. First of all the staff are lovely, apologetic and tried their best to help. The staff on reception are very young though, but it wasn’t their fault.
We checked in and paid for WiFi. The room was unclean, the hotel was full so we couldn’t be moved and the WiFi didn’t work. I was told the WiFi didn’t work due to the room we were in and location, we were refunded for this after 2 days but it shouldn’t be an option of buying. On the first night our daughter started coughing violently. I knew she was having an allergic reaction, probably to dust. We moved her into the double and I pulled her single bed away from the wall and window. When I pulled the bed out a cluster of dust followed. The side of the bed and wall was covered in grey dust and worse the Curtains were thick with mold. I went to the local Sainsbury’s to get allergy medicine and we kept her with us. I asked again to move but no rooms and as it was midnight no cleaner was available. We left after 2 days of a 3 day stay as she couldn’t stay in the room. Enclosed pictures of what was found under our double bed and in our bed. Has to wait 8 days for a reply to a refund request!!
- albear70 (10/5): Great hotel - Great location, clean spacious room ,nice welcome and great breakfast! This is one of the best premier inns we have stayed in!
- Manuel (10/5): - Accueil parfait, personnel souriant et accueillant. Jolie chambre chaleureuse. Environnement calme.
- trishmU1025DB (2/5): Poor couple of nights - Poor experience, first room wasn't ready, swapped into another not ready room, dirty, no bedding, towels, pillows, 2 cups between 3 people and 1 chair between 3 people too, 4 hrs to complete room to usable standard. Breakfast was a nightmare, no food, huge queues, we gave up trying after 10 mins of trying to get any food unsuccessfully. Staff friendly but limited with how much help they could give.. would we go again? Afraid not..
- paulinehA1606ED (2/5): Vile - Totally shocking dirty smells mould.
Could not walk on the carpet with out shoes on . Vomit up the walls .
Would never recommend this hotel.
- KJS202 (10/5): Always a decent stay - Been staying here for many years now and the standard remains constantly good each time. The staff are very nice and the room was comfy and quiet
- BunnetteM (10/5): Premier inn Newhaven - I stayed in Newhaven Premier inn for 4 nights while over visiting family & friends.
Room was clean & quiet & good to have a harvester next-door.
My only complaint would be that I was unaware that I needed to register my car numberplate.
I did not know this until my day of departure, this was a worry for me as i live abroad & didnt want a fine on the hire car.....however Glenn on reception told me that he would sort that for me which put my mind at rest & was helpful to me with my luggage.
Also maybe put the device for registration of number plate in a visible place ( on reception counter )
Being that a email is sent a few days before giving information etc even telling you that you request a room clean before midday it would be a good idea to add the information about registering car numberplate.
Also Ashley & John at reception on departure were very helpful.
I will stay at premier inn newhaven again next time I visit.
- 306KayL (10/5): You know what you are getting with a Premier Inn. - Never disappointed with the Newhaven premier Inn. We had the pleasure of Amelia and Glen this morning who were great at sorting out our next visit and really helpful.
You know the bed is going to be comfortable, and the pillows to your liking.
Pity the glasses have now been restricted to the premier plus rooms but it’s no hassle to take our own if we want them.
- michelebtn (10/5): 100% positive experience - I’m in a wheelchair so require an accessible room. This room is excellent, well equipped and has pull cords.
The hotel is located next to a brewers fayre, where the staff go above and beyond to help you and has a covered easy accessible access, also a Sainsbury’s and Costa are onsite and all accessible. There are bus links to Brighton and Eastbourne again easily accessible.
The staff are absolutely fantastic, I honestly can’t fault them..they are friendly, very caring, they help me with everything and are on hand 24/7 should I need them.. Nothing is too much bother for them. They’ve come up with suggestions to make my stay the best it could possibly be. I’ll be eternally grateful to them.
- paulinehD5709LD (10/5): Great service - Just wanted to say how friendly and helpful Nicola on reception was. She was obviously busy but nothing was too much trouble.
- MoMoJilJil (6/5): Decent Stay but No Air Conditioning in Summer - Stayed for one night. The hotel offers free parking, and there’s a Sainsbury’s and a restaurant next door. The hotel has two floors but no lift, so you’ll need to carry luggage upstairs if you’re on the upper floor.
The room size and layout are typical Premier Inn standard. However, the biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning. There’s a control panel, but it doesn’t work, seems like the central AC was switched off. Only a small desk fan was provided.
After showering, the whole bathroom filled with steam since the extractor fan wasn’t working either. The room became hot, humid, and uncomfortable, almost like a sauna. With the windows barely opening, we had to keep the door open to let out the heat. Even at night, it stayed warm and stuffy, making it very hard to sleep.
It was honestly the first time I’ve ever felt a heatwave like this in the UK! Out of all the Premier Inns I’ve stayed at, this is the only one without air conditioning. Later, I checked the website and saw that the Twin/Family rooms indeed don’t list air conditioning in the facilities. Lesson learned, always check that before booking!
- Curious60675377868 (4/5): Don’t bother - Room was not very clean , corridors were dirty not hovered,we was booked for two people for two nights in the premier plus room but only 3 coffee pods and only two towels , breakfast next door was rubbish .
- 339brigetten (8/5): Great stay for a weekend away - Stayed at Premier Inn with my partner for a short break and really enjoyed it. The room was clean, comfy, and quiet — perfect for relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. Simple, easy, and great value for money. We’d happily stay again!
- D1925CIhazels (10/5): Great stay - Had a lovely stay at premier inn Newhaven.
Staff were great both friendly and professional.
Room was clean an comfortable
What more could you want.
- I9116HIryanw (10/5): Newhaven Stay - The hotel is lovely, excellent value for money. The staff were very polite and helpful. I enjoyed my stay very much, it was quiet and in a great location hidden away from the main road. The room was very tidy and the atmosphere around the whole hotel was very calm.
- stevieleed2025 (10/5): Great hotel - Had a lovely stay and all staff were amazing.
Bonus being so close to trains and busses to Brighton and newhaven and also right near newhaven port for anyone heading to France.
- I613PAlisaw (8/5): Great start to our holiday, comfortable clean and great location. Sadly, visitors outside the ground floor didn't help - The location of this hotel was perfect for our check in at Newhaven Ferry Port the following morning; there is also many local shops for purchasing last minutes holiday items. The initial impression of the hotel was very nice, the outdoor lighting was inviting and the music was welcoming but not too much.
We had two rooms, the upper floor room was perfect for our needs, allowing us a quiet and comfortable night's sleep; the ground floor room was very well decorated, modern and clean; however, sadly there was a lot of noise from outside with men loudly rummaging through rubbish bins during the early hours.
For our needs; the value of these rooms were great. All areas were kept very clean and tidy.
Staff were friendly at check in and advised us to book for dinner in the connecting restaurant, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed and kicked off the start of our family holiday.
- gilliansU5173PP (10/5): Visiting family in Shropshire - Friendly welcome every time we visit 2/3 times a year to visit my sister in Newport. Prompt service if new towels etc . needed,
Beefeater staff also very efficient .
Always a restful stay,
With thanks
Gill&Tony Styles from Canterbury, Kent
- pirateofthecaribbean (8/5): Clean Comfortable & Quiet Stay - Reliable, comfortable stay in a good bed. Clean and quiet, only let down by understaffed restaurant where the fried calamari tasted of everything else that had be in the same oil and it looked dirst and freezer burned.
Reception Lady gave a really nice welcome and reflected this every time I exited and entered the Inn.
- jacquelinehT8938CA (2/5): A huge disappointment - Sadly our stay was an awful experience because the room was unbearably hot. Despite having the heater turned off , the fan on full, the window open, and lying on top of the covers , my husband slept very fitfully and I only got about three hours all told.
We were really disappointed - Premier Inn rooms are usually very comfortable.
When I asked for a form to make my complaint the next morning I was told they had none left and I should go on line, but to be prepared to wait some time for a response!
On the plus side everything was very clean, and the staff couldn't have been kinder.
- Rich186311 (4/5): Hotel ok restaurant awful - The hotel itself was ok . It was clean . The restaurant attached was awful we tried to eat there on our first night which we had booked to be informed by a rather grumpy staff that it was an hours wait for food . We decided to wait went to order the food to be told what we wanted was not available. This was the final straw we left and found a lovely restaurant in Seaford. Will not go back again.
- Q300TBmelaniew (2/5): We slept well but the stay was tainted by the lack of cleanliness or attention to detail - On our arrival the entrance was covered in litter, cigarette ends and detritus from the restaurant/bar next door. Our room was generally clean but the NOT the bathroom. The lavatory had not been flushed from its last use and therefore cannot have been cleaned. There was only enough milk for one cup of tea each ie either the evening or the morning. No decaf was available.
- Trakette (10/5): A very pleasant surprise - Without a vehicle there are a limited number of places to stay near the Newhaven/Dieppe ferry. A previous stay in a private suite proved very unsatisfactory, but reviews I’d read of the Premier Inn weren’t encouraging. However, my seven night stay was very good. Apparently a room refurbishment recently took place and I had no complaints. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Inn is next to a Sainsbury’s where I went every morning to the Costa for breakfast. I’m a light sleeper but found the room very quiet - and the excellent blackout drapes made for a darkened room which I need.
I booked a standard room but apparently a premium plus room includes a fridge, which I would have appreciated. I have family in the area so I’ll definitely return and stay here again. It’s a short walk to a bus stop at which you can get the number 12 Coaster bus which follows the coast to Eastbourne in one direction and Brighton in the other. A lovely route. The Newhaven Town railway station is close by too. Newhaven Cabs are also a friendly service if needed. Both the Inn and Sainsbury’s have a direct line.
All in all I couldn’t have been more satisfied for the price I paid.
- L8226ZRmarkm (10/5): Positive. - Our experience, despite other reviews, was very positive. Reception staff friendly. Room very comfortable and clean. Did not feel cramped. Shower worked well. TV/wi-fi worked. Yup would use again.
- colinhA5287IF (6/5): Drop in standards. - Great location, easy access to Brighton and Eastbourne (45 either way). Have stayed at this hotel before but it is obvious standards have dropped from previous visits.
- Baldbutsexy (6/5): Fine , normal Premier inn . Clean and fine for a night - Perfectly Ok for an overnight stay, clean pleasant staff and easy for a stay before Ferry to Dieppe but avoid the drove pub next door
- katiesE3148BR (10/5): Lovely, considerate receptionist - I didn’t actually stay at this hotel, I came in to enquire about a room and unfortunately they were full! However the receptionist on the desk at the time was so helpful, she rang round 3 other hotels and did her absolute best to help me. She was so understanding and polite I cannot praise her enough. Unfortunately I did not catch her name, but it was on a Saturday evening I came in if this helps to recognise who she is.
- 120wanderingb (6/5): Excellent stay, but shocked by abuse towards staff - Overall, my stay at Premier Inn Newport, Telford was excellent. The staff were friendly and the food at the adjoining restaurant was very good.
However, I feel it is important to raise a serious concern. During my stay, I overheard a deeply distressing interaction between a guest and a member of staff. The staff member was subjected to shocking verbal abuse, including racist remarks and personal insults. Despite her remaining professional and offering a genuine apology (although I did not hear the full context), the guest continued to verbally attack her, even making derogatory comments about her appearance and weight. The staff member also mentioned she was seven months pregnant, to which the guest responded with further offensive and degrading language.
I was appalled to witness this behaviour. Staff work hard to ensure guests have a pleasant experience, and no one should be subjected to that level of abuse in their workplace. Such conduct not only impacts the wellbeing of employees but also affects the atmosphere for other guests.
I sincerely hope this incident was dealt with appropriately, and that this is not a regular occurrence at your hotel. If such situations are not addressed properly, it would affect my decision to return in the future.
Unfortunately, I did not catch the receptionist’s name, but the incident occurred on Saturday 6th September. I would like to commend her professionalism under such unacceptable circumstances, and I hope Premier Inn supports its staff against this kind of behaviour.
- carolinecD5087TE (2/5): Not fit for purpose! - We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights in august 2025 to stay near family for an event. After travelling 200 miles, we checked in and dropped our stuff at the hotel. We got room 107, 101 and 18 so we can understand why reviews vary - room 18 was fine, standard premier inn. The other two were not fit for purpose. We had plans most of the weekend, so we would only really be sleeping at the hotel. First impressions of 107 was a musty smelling tired old room. We opened the windows, dropped our stuff and went out, hoping the airing would help. It did not. We got back mid evening to put our 6 year old to bed and it still stank of stale smoke, like visiting a relative in the 90s who smokes indoors. Usually he struggles to wind down in a premier inn, so we give him a bath. One look at the bath and we decided against the idea - there were over 10 hairs and a tide mark around the bath, as well as built up scum on the shower side. It hadn't been cleaned at all! There were two hairs on the sink and what we worried were skid marks in the toilet but actually turned out to be limescale. It was grim. But it was late and 6 year old desperately needed to get to sleep for the next day's plans, so we got him to sleep and I popped to Lidl over the road for cleaning supplies and spent an hour wiping over the bathroom. The floor was a different colour after - it was filthy, dust grime and hair all around the edges, it looked like it only got a a quick wipe around the middle when being cleaned. Also splatters up the wall near the toilet.
Cleaned the rest of the room since I had the supplies, the surfaces came up with thick dust so hadn't been wiped and there were cobwebs in every corner.
Not only did we not have time to take this up with staff, or move room, but I'm anxious and hate conflict - I tried messaging premier inn on Facebook but they would only deal with it after we checked out. The result of that was they gave us a £37 refund on our £208 room. Insulting.
It really feels like they know the problems in some of the rooms in this hotel and they just let people occupy them anyway. Take the chance that people are too anxious, too busy or just can't be bothered to take it up, since moving rooms is a lot of hassle.
My sister's room (101) stunk even heavily of stale smoke, and she was staying in there with 2 children. All their clothes stank and by the second day you could tell where they had been at the family events because the smell lingered!! They ended up checking out a night early and driving home in the evening after a busy day because they couldn't stand to stay in it. They also had food stains on the duvet.
Think a lot of the negative reviews ended up on the newport Wales premier inn page, which is where I nearly accidentally posted this, because the comments are very similar!
- hitenderp2016 (2/5): Terrible stay - I had terrible experience .
They do not clean rooms and AC does not work.
No matter how much you request , they just do not provide good service
- Poshvan2 (10/5): Another very enjoyable stay. - Another return visit for us to this Premier Inn. We stay in a few inns over the year, and have to say, the Newport one is up with the best. Very helpful staff, rooms always clean and well presented, and good parking on site. Highly recommended.
- lawrence (4/5): - Definitely overpriced for this quality of accommodation
- LGN-007 (8/5): Comfortable sleep - We had a great night's sleep and the staff were very friendly. However, the WiFi and phone reception in the room was very poor.
- paulinegH5888LR (10/5): Mini break - Excellent stay at Newport Premier Inn. All first class and kind staff. Would recommend a stay here didn't eat here as it was a short over night stay.
- amandaoT2860PZ (6/5): Ok - Not too bad a stay but do not go to the adjoined beefeater. It’s dire!! Waitress lovely, food just edible, carpet threadbare and dangerous and toilets awful
- roertl2025 (4/5): Gruesome inn - The bedroom wasn’t very clean fries under the desk area hadn’t been cleaned up from previous guests. Bedding not put on correctly with no vacuuming been done from last year from what I could see living under the bed, the bathoom sink was that clogged with hair that the water when run didn’t require a plug to stay in the sink. The windows need to be upgraded as could hear every passing vehicle. The mattress was so hard I at one point laid on the towels on the floor to sleep on as more comfy.
- J1mC (4/5): Mixed experience - not a great place to stay - some helpful staff - but not all of them! - Mixed quality of service and generally average conditions.
Arrived on Saturday afternoon at 2.45pm after fair drive. Went to check in but quickly told by receptionist that we couldn’t as we would have to wait till 3pm. I appreciate that there are check in times - but by the time we would have filled in the paperwork; booked breakfast etc - it seemed over officious by the Saturday receptionist.
Arrived in room (103) to strong smell of stale smoke and grubby bathroom (dirt on floor in corners and splatter of blood on wall by toilet). The room windows were open and so we hoped the smell would clear.
Room booked as a family room - but only two cups out so would need to rectify this. We were meeting family in Beefeater across the car pack - so dropped bags and quickly left to meet them.
Went to reception to ask for cups and extra pillows as all the beds only had one - was told by receptionist she would sort this asap as she was busy but as the hotel was completely full she would struggle with pillows for us - wasn’t particularly understanding and was not presenting herself as helpful.
We went back to the room after a few hours to find that one pillow had been left on the floor of the communal corridor with two mugs left on it - I would much rather the pillow be left on a bed in the room rather than on the floor to sleep on later!when we went into the the room it was still smelling strongly of smokers - I went to reception to make her aware and seek some rectification. I told her about the smell; grubby bathroom and blood. Receptionist was not bothered. Said that we should have told her earlier so she might have been able to move us - but as the hotel was full she had no where to move us - I said that she had already said the hotel was full earlier - but as we were staying 2 nights - could we be moved the following day - as we couldn’t leave the window open all night as the road passing was very noisy. Her only response was “I know… it’s terrible” when discussing the noise. I said I wasn’t happy and would like this sorted and that there was an issue and invited her to come and see the room and smell how grubby it was. She said there was nothing she could do and would come along to the room to see when she could (she never did) and at that point some other people arrived at reception - receptionist took this as an opportunity to end conversation and pretend all was well.
We went to local Aldi around the corner - bought air freshener and a plug in and some anti-bacteria wipes. We made do for the night as we had no where else to go with the family. Wife wiped bathroom with wipes.
The next morning (Sunday) there was a new receptionist who was really nice - we explained what had happened the previous day and said she could sort this - within 2 minutes we were in a new room and everything was better - a total contrast to the Saturday receptionist.
The room was fine - the extractor in this room worked - the previous one did not - but there was no internet connection in the hotel. The wi-fi worked but there was no internet connection working the two days we were there.
The receptionist that helped us was there on the Monday morning too and was very friendly and helpful. The Saturday receptionist (24th May) was dreadful in terms of customer service - I am putting the date only because we didn’t catch her name and don’t want the receptionist on the 25th to get in trouble - she helped us out as we would expect.
Hotel was having painting work done whilst we were there - but generally looks like it needs some attention. Large brown stain on the floor of the lift (could have been coffee or coke?) Was there the whole 3 days we were there and no one seemed to notice or care enough to make sure it was cleaned - overall - we stayed because it was closest we could get to a family wedding - but wouldn’t recommend.
In terms of the beefeater for breakfast - When we were drinking in the Beefeater on the Saturday afternoon there was a downpour and we saw that water was coming through the ceiling and light fitting and dripping on the floor - this was reported to staff - but nothing done and assume it’s a regular occurrence as table under it had a sign already there stating (out of use). Not safe or what you expect when staying away from home. Hotel Management need to visit this hotel to assess the state of the place and give training to some of the staff about caring for their visitors.
- 923MicheleP (10/5): one night stay - one night stay Sunday 16th March had a lovely time nice welcome when we arrived and was check in thanks to Kirsty, Rebecca, and Harris thanks for a lovely stay , room was clean and comfortable and warm
Steve and Michele from Bedfordshire.....
- Maps46270436769 (10/5): Great staff, friendly and professional - I recently stayed at the Premier Inn Telford and had a fantastic experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, but what truly made my stay exceptional was the outstanding service from the staff.
From check-in to check-out, the team was professional, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. A special thanks to Georgi Andrew at the front desk, who was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and efficient. They made sure everything was perfect for my stay and handled any requests with professionalism and a smile.
It’s rare to find such a dedicated and attentive team, and it really made a difference to my visit. I highly recommend this Premier Inn for anyone looking for a stress-free and pleasant stay in Telford. I will definitely be returning!
- JABURNS59OUTLOOK (10/5): Value for money! - Clean , comfy and secure. Considering it's location it is quiet. Friendly staff , good food in restaurant. All round great value for money. Beds & pillows , bedding all great 10/10 for value.
Second time in 3 months we have stayed her , a ground floor room & first floor both good rooms & a positive experience each time.
- Lhunt7 (2/5): Poor customer service and very poor Wi fi with no signal … - Very poor, very slow Wi-Fi connection, I had to connect to my iPhone just to get a signal to check my emails. The reception gentleman, even though I was young was very rude and could not be bothered giving us the correct information or even given us two key cards which we should’ve had as one was needed for the electricity in the room. There was only one pillow each, For us we had to request another one. There was no milk cartons in the tea and coffee facilities and had to go on request some of them. Obviously the room had not been checked correctly. It was rubbish left under the bed as well. I would not recommend this hotel as a service on the presentation of the hotel was very poor for a Premier Inn.
- loz280 (8/5): Lovely reception staff , and a clean and comfortable hotel - Fast and easy check in ,with very polite staff . The room was very clean and spacious. It has all you need for your stay . Tea and coffee which is in your room , and you can get more from reception when you have used your two teabags supplied. The bed was comfy, but I didn't find the pillows that good . Normally the pillows are great in Premier inn. There are plenty of lighting options for your room , and lots of sockets to plug your devices in . The bathroom was a good size and modern. The shower was powerful and HOT , which is always nice . And you can adjust the shower ,so that good point for me being small . There are washing gels supplied ,but you can always take your own . There was a bit of the beading coming of the door of the shower . But apart from that it was all good .
Lots of free parking and not far from Newport
