Guest Reviews
- Daryl (8/5): - Good size rooms
- jonathandL8389YI (10/5): Great staff for a pleasant stay. - I had a pleasant stay at the orbital in early December.
Room was no frills but provided everything needed for a good sleep.
Staff were very nice and attentive, both Katie and Louisa were a lovely sight to come back to after a hard day's work.
Local amenities are great and with handy access.
Recommended.
- W9699HZscotts (10/5): Great 3 night stay - Had a lovely 3 night stay here. Staff were all great especially the lady called carol, she was so helpful, couldn’t of asked for more.
- richardmU3542XM (10/5): great stay and sleep - This hotels is Lovely to stay at, the reception staff are very helpful, and the facilities in the rooms are lovely, spacious rooms and comfy beds
- pickering_sue (2/5): Give it a miss! - Booked table at 8 30pm by 8 50pm no one had approached to take our drinks or food order.i had 2 find a member of staff to ask for a drink! Never again.will book room but go to mcdonalds.absolute shambles
- sharonc001 (4/5): Used to be the top of budget hotels, now the bottom. - Really disappointing visit. Drove 4 hours to arrive at 7.30 and be told the restaurant was closing at 8pm due to a large group arriving at 8.30pm. If I was quick I would be served straight away, rushed to the restaurant (7.40pm) to be told kitchen was too busy and we couldn’t have a table. The restaurant was almost empty. Went for dinner elsewhere and came back for a drink, staff lacklustre, tables dirty and sticky, restaurant still empty. Let bar at 8.45 and the “large group” still hadn’t arrived, we could have eating in that time.
Walking to our room, the corridor and stair looked as though they hadn’t been vacuumed in a week. Premier Plus room… it was cold, two very thin pillows, no blankets, no biscuits/sweets which they are supposed to have, looked like someone had already been in the room and rummaged through the tray, one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, grey single ply toilet paper that looked more in keeping with a hostel or public loo, supposed high speed Wi-Fi that was exactly the same speed as the free Wi-Fi. No one on reception when we arrived or when we went back. “press the bell” sign on the desk permanently, no one answers if you ring as the pager is lying on reception.
Premier inn seems to have steadily gone down hill over the last decade, taking away all the little extras that made it worth while.
- 555kaij (8/5): great - it was great katie was amazing , nice festive menu really getting me in the mood for christmas a nice little christmas tree.
room 11 ;)
- weskwyj (8/5): Very good - Friendly and efficient service from the moment we arrived. Festive menu is a nice touch. Quick service in the restaurant with nice clean table.
- P6244MVdavidc (10/5): Warm welcome friendly staff - Katie was amazing on reception. Very friendly and happy to help.
Clean and tidy .
Nice food and good beer bar staff happy to help.
- Sun9179 (10/5): Friendliest Hotel around - Fantastic stay for one night stop over. The team are sooooo friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Rooms are comfy and clean. Carol on the front desk was really helpful with things to do in the local area !
The hotel is kept immaculate given how dated it is in comparison to other premier inns !
Thanks Carol and team
- Discover136138 (4/5): Not a good experience - Even though we booked our rooms about a month in advance, we were in the last 2 rooms on the ground floor. Room 41. Bathroom light fid not work towel rail extremely rusty. Wall by the bed covered in dust. Beefeater restaurant main meals very disappointing. We have stayed here several times, but this visit is the worst.
- 171hazelt (8/5): Beautiful great hotel - Well, what a beautiful hotel. Spotless. Gorgeous accessible room, very comfy bed, low bath bathroom. Beautiful toiletries included. Staff very attentive and nothing was a problem.
I have dropped a star because I'm disabled and the disabled ramp lift was out of order and made things difficult for me with my mobility scooter, but staff let me use fire exit door. Hopefully before our next visit in March it will be repaired. Also shower curtains don't fit into bath resulting in water spilling over floor making it slippy, not good in disabled room. Overall excellent place...beautiful good at night and breakfast
- 658haydenr (10/5): Nice stay - Enjoyed my stay great check in room was comfortable. After a long journey really enjoyed a comfortable bed and a nice quick brekky at the pub next door.
- serioussocks (8/5): Peaceful quiet stay 5 mins from M6 -great overnight for Yorkshire to Highlands trip - Very pleased with our night in this hotel , it exceeded our expectations for a motorway stop over . Room was quiet , very clean and a VERY comfortable bed …. So it was even more of a wrench when at 6.45 am the fire alarm went off. It was only for about a minute so presumably a false alarm but as the bed was so comfortable we were still in a very sound sleep at that time .
The restuarant and menu looked very inviting when we arrived but as we had already eaten we didn’t use it .
Next time we stay I would make a point of using it as the light bite menu options looked inviting . Breakfast was a serve yourself buffet with lots of options including a good cooked selection
Would definitely stay again
- johnbV88YV (10/5): Business travel stay - Good value for money and the accessible room was great
parking for Disabled drivers was available just outside of Reception
- shaunamK8058XG (2/5): Not great. - The staff were great.
The bathrooms need some tlc as they just look unclean and dingy.
The rooms look tired & the location is not great due to the noise from the busy road.
- miketV2175BI (4/5): Lost the plot - We arrived to find a nice big parking area at the Premier Inn Junction 42. Checked in and made our way to our Premium Room. It's then when you realise that since you last used Premier Hotels things have changed. I'm sorry to say, they have changed but NOT for the better. The rooms are no longer serviced on a daily basis, they only give you a clean towel if you ask for one. The coffee maker leaked. There was only 1 easy chair (god knows where your other half sits). The staff informed me that the fire brigade would only let them have one chair. The shower height adjustment didn't work. Reported it and allegedly it was fixed, but it was still exactly the same when we came to use it. The coffee machine still leaked. What is the point of bothering to inform the staff about a defect, if nobody can be bothered to sort it.
It's been a long time since l last stayed at a Premier Inn and I'm amazed at the decline in their standards. Next time l will go elsewhere.
- W4981QQelaineb (8/5): Good place to stay - Good place to stay and good location. Friendly staff and had a good night's sleep. Also did good food. Will definitely stay again.
- Dajtrav (6/5): Satisfactory - This was a one night stopover on a lengthy journey. The room was comfortable, as was the bed, but the cleaning could have been better. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the nearby ‘Beefeater’ restaurant.
- mollye791 (8/5): Lovely Experience - We had a really lovely experience at the Premier Inn Carlisle M6 Jct 44. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the service was excellent throughout. Callum and Isla took great care of us — they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.
- Kelly-welly123 (10/5): Fabulous - Stayed for a night on the way home from a week in Edinburgh. Great location off the motorway surrounded by lots of shops. Easy check in with free parking just put reg into screen. Room was as expected, we’ve stayed in premier inns before always enjoy the bath as it’s much deeper than at home 😊 walked in to find a Halloween gift bag with a bag of sweets and little note. Such a lovely little touch, I love Halloween! Room was spacious, bed was big and comfy and all very clean. Remote didn’t work on tv but wasn’t an issue. Easy check out just put card in box and off we went. Will deffo stay at this location again when visiting Scotland 😊
- sarah_johnson2440 (8/5): Superstar saves the star! - I stayed for 4 nights for a work trip. The hotel was fab as always. I usually use PI as I know what I’m getting.
The food was ok, first night my meal (steak and sauce, with chips) was all cold. Granted it was busy but some staff didn’t seem to be able to cope under the pressure. I got an apology from the young lady serving me as she took it away, hardly touched, but not even an offer of a drink! The next couple of nights faith was restored as the very lovely Freya was on duty. After a hard day at work, it was nice to be greeted with a smile. Overall it was a 4* stay for me. It would have been a 3* but Freya pulled it back! Management need to look after staff like her, and kick the backside of the ones that don’t give a toss, or understand customer service.
Thanks Freya, hope to see you again soon.
- T9171QKhshdh (10/5): 5* - Regularly stay at this hotel when on business, the team are fantastic and really make my stay!
Huge shout out to both Callum and Catalina who seem to be around mostly when I stay, they are both a credit to the team and take interest in getting to know me.
The only downside to the hotel is that the Premier Plus rooms are on the far side of the hotel, but it’s a nice quiet area.
Looking forward to my next visit up to Carlisle.
- PennyW1236 (10/5): Great place to stay! - Brilliant stay. Staff are very friendly and keen to-make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is clean and tidy and breakfast is well cooked and hot!
Also has air conditioning and heating. It only has a few rooms so you need to book early, but has a very friendly small guest house feel, whilst still being the familiar premier inn. Katie was great and made us feel very welcome. Noise insulation is perfect
- Relax04250059848 (6/5): Last minute booking - Last minute need for accommodation so had not prebooked when we arrived advised we needed to book on line not (easy for the elderly) we were successful on the third attempt as app kept saying fully booked.
The room a little jaded but clean and comfortable.
Evening meal in Thyme restaurant had to book as fully booked although predominantly empty tables
Food
Dinner
Nachos nice but could have used side plates
Spinach and ricotta ravioli under cooked and lukewarm
Tomato and chilli linguine again lukewarm garnished with four cold halves of cherry tomatoes
Desert (the best bit)
Triple chocolate brownie with ice cream
Breakfast
Plentiful if a little lukewarm very nice orange juice and coffee
Would we stay here again probably yes but would find somewhere else to eat
- juliant291 (10/5): A friendly welcome and a handy location - You always know what you are going to get with a Premier Inn, and this is no different. Handy for shopping and a 15 minute drive from Cannock Chase for walking and mountain biking. Thanks to Katie and all the staff for a warm and friendly welcome.
- Y526JYrobertm (2/5): Poor service Poor Website! - Rang up trying to make a booking for 5th to 7th November, because online booking does not allow a booking to be made using a Hotel Gift Card. Telephone Rang and rang then get a message saying go on line o phone back.
Very poor service!
- O3039TCrobinm (10/5): Great staff - Sam was great. Really helpful, friendly and nice. He was able to go a bit above-and-beyond to provide excellent customer service to us.
- Caspercat76 (10/5): Always A Welcome Stop - Our usual stop on our way from Southampton to Northern Scotland, always a warm welcome and a spotless room awaits. Never had any issues with this hotel at all, thank you.
- Expedition518277 (4/5): Worse kind of TRIP! - Previously, I've stayed at many Premier inns over the years especially the one In Hampstead. And something I have noticed when you stay somewhere on a regular basis is the standards. The one at Hampstead was one where I noticed certain standards had dropped, especially in the restaurant area. The service wasn't particularly better either. Having stayed there for several days on a regular basis, at least once a month for a number of years before and after the Covid. so I did notice the demise of what started as a pleasant place to stay lead me to stay away from Premier Inn and chose the Holiday Inn, in Camden. This was important to me as my regular visits were due to Hospital appointments at the Royal free. I haven't needed to stayed at any UK hotels up until now, due to my brother getting married in Gretna Green. So due to most of the nearby hotels not been available or more expensive, we decided at the last minute to book the Premier Inn Carlisle, for convenience, and gave this one a go. The carpark directions to reception where vague as we could not see any Disable parking bays as we seemed to arrive at the back of the hotel. Check in was OK. The room was close to facilities but inappropriate (one double bed ) as it was for me and my Daughter. So we were moved much further away from facilities which left me breathless with the long walk to our room. Having nearly tripped over a carpeted drain cover down one of the longest corridors I have ever seen. l just put it down to tiredness. The next morning for breakfast I wasn't so lucky as I was sent flying along the same corridor having tripped over yet another carpeted drain cover. I didn't realise they were every four feet. I brought it to the attention of manager Stephen, who reported it and took photos. That morning after a poor breakfast we decided to leave Premier inn, and went home after the wedding as my arm was hurting. This has been the WORST experience with Premier Inn, EVER! I hope Premier Inn will take my concerns SERIOUSLY and take action to prevent matters deteriorating in the future.
- oHaiAlexander (8/5): One of the better Carlisle Hotels! - Fantastic experience on an overnight business trip to this hotel, after recent poor experience with another brand. Arrived a weary traveller to a warm and friendly welcome by staff, willing to accommodate with later evening food suggestions, nearby truck stop, help with an ironing board.
Location perfect, just off the M6 motorway and easy to get to despite nearby roadworks. Rooms to the usual Premier Inn standard - clean, comfortable, cosy, consistent! Couldn't hear any traffic noise with windows closed which was brilliant, and internal noise not an issue either.
Breakfast served at the Beefeater next door; leave yourself an extra 10 minutes more than usual for breakfast as the mid-week buffet seems to have changed to cook to order. Good quality food though, no complaints.
- Safari59099918430 (10/5): 10/10 would stay again - Amazing! Easy to get to. Great value for money, very comfortable, kids loved every second in the hotel. 10/10 would stay again.
- sarahbG4696KL (10/5): Amazing staff make an awesome stay - Stayed here whilst visiting my family. From the minute we walked in the place was lovely and clean, the receptionist greeted us and was freindly. It had been a long journey and we were there to unpack before rushing out again. Opening the door to our room was so lovely, it was clean and bright and so comfy. The housekeeping team had done a great job. After a long day of meeting family and alot of mixed emotions we came back to a lovely comfy room and were able to relax.
We did have an incident with a spilled drink on the duvet i went to reception and she was amazing, came and changed the duvet with no fuss, kindness and no judgement.
The staff behind the hotel are a true credit, freindly and professional, nothing is a bother and they are so knowledgable. The hotel itself has some tired decor, but the housekeeping team keep it spotless. Together they create such a lovely atmosphere that I’ll be happy to stay again!
- Ronnie100mac (2/5): Disappointed - Went to dinner at 7 pm got food at 8:40 after 4+ tables in and out in less than 45 minutes and no explanation to how long it took. The place was disgusting aswell. The toilet in our room was blocked and wouldn't flush. Overall experience 2/10. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.
- K1662OIphilt (10/5): Great place - A great place to stop, 1 min off the motorway, I stop here most times on my way back from Scotland. Very friendly staff especially, I think her name is Diana ( always smiling) and Karen, will be back definitely!!!!
- V8316BCdavidl (10/5): Great service - Room was clean and tidy, friendly welcome from the lady at reception she was very helpful her name was Diana she couldn’t be more helpful
- Camper11528270629 (10/5): Friendly - Nice room and really lovely, friendly welcome from Diana on reception who was very knowledgeable and helpful. Good experience all round.
- I8487VXcolina (10/5): Great stay - I have stayed here 4 weeks in a row and the rooms are very clean the stuff are very helpful. Diana on reception is brilliant so happy and welcoming love coming here.
- alexandra_bbk (10/5): Nice hotel - It was a pleasure to stay here, the room was clean. Diana, from reception, was very kindly, that can help with absolutely everything, very nice.
I have been on a short vacation, at a friend, and they recommended this hotel, and I don’t regret anything, the personal was very warm. Maybe next time we will book again here.
- U5994YIbm (10/5): Amazing stay - Diana at the reception was amazing — warm, professional, and genuinely kind. She made us feel welcome from the start and went above and beyond to help. Truly the heart of the hotel!
- elizabethcolclougj (6/5): Ordered chicken skewers in a wrap and as the meal cooked the wrap went rock hard so couldn't bite into it disappointed - Poor service one lady doing reception bar and restaurant. I did point this out to the lady but she didn't really make a comment.
- christiangX1868MV (2/5): Choose the other Cannock Premier Inn - I stay away in Premier Inns 4 nights a week all over the country and this is by far the worst. I got put in a disabled room that was so depressing. Tiny TV and I couldn't use the "wet room" as the disability seat was in the way (attached to the wall).
The restaurant is just as bad! Smelt damp, had about half the menu "unavaible" and on the second night, the restaurant was packed and they only had two people serving on the bar (how you order your food). They had a que of people waiting stretching the length of the bar.
The WiFi is pitiful, even at full bars it struggles to send an email.
If you need to stay in the area choose the other Cannock Premier Inn as id rather stay in a piss soaked door way, than stay here again.
- S8031ZMrichardl (10/5): My trip south - Lovely and friendly staff. Room was clean and quiet. I have stayed here before and will probably stay again. Great location to rest on my long journey south.
- Camper44839370233 (10/5): Most Amazing Premiere Inn - Where do I start the staff at Orbital are truly amazing, The manager Carol is so helpful and will make anyone’s stay amazing Katie is a breath of fresh air very helpful very chirpy can pull a mean pint if needed both in my eyes and all staff at Orbital Premiere inn make it a magical experience highly recommended to come and stay.
- P3183ZLdavidh (4/5): Mixed experience - Rooms, hotel and staff excellent. Restaurant had 11 items not available from the menu!!! Apparently a new menu will be available soon but that did not help us.
The stair lift was out of action and it was out of action last year and others said it was 4 years since it had worked!
- cornwell48 (8/5): Nice hotel. - Booked for a 2 night stay to view the local university with my daughter.
Everyone who manned the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly.
We did have an issue with our heating when we arrived. Due to the time of our arrival (after 11pm) we were provided with a portable heater however it was fixed the next day. All in all would highly recommend this premier inn. The only let down was the beefeater attached which I wouldn’t recommend at all.
- 606nigele (6/5): A handy stopover but a disappointing experience. - Overnight stay on a journey. Overall, the hotel is presentable, but standards have been slipping since our previous visits.
There were no glasses in the bedroom or bathroom for water.
I had to ask at reception for more coffee and milk as there was little provided.
A new menu has been introduced the previous week so there was a reduced choice of food on offer. Having bought the meal deal, it was disappointing that the choice was limited- ever not told of this before paying the deal. Why introduce a new menu before you can deliver all the choices?
I think it unlikely that we will stay again.
- maxn358 (4/5): A less than premier stay at Premier Inn - Another less than premier review about a Premier Inn. Not much good I can say about this experience. On arrival, the restaurant was not accepting any bookings for meals due to a technical fault. Once in the room, the curtains were broken and hanging off the rail. I managed to best part fix this though. Then in the shower, that had another “special” feature letting water spray out in random directions from the water pipe.
- rachb790 (6/5): Clean and comfortable but dated and tired rooms need a refurb - Pro’s:
Really comfortable bed / mattress ensuring a good nights sleep.
Lovely welcome from reception staff.
Cons:
Dated and tired room - looks like it’s time for Premier Inn to reinvest in modernising this site.
Shower curtain - no one likes a shower curtain these days!
- AndyxTinax (8/5): Comfortable but WiFi rubbish - Good location, convenient just off the M6. We had a Premier Plus room which was comfortable and had enhanced facilities. All except the heavily advertised upgrade to the WiFi. ‘Ultimate WiFi included, stream and browse quickly’. Absolutely no signal in our room at all. Very disappointing. Shame, because everything else was spot on.
- Excursion623739 (6/5): Good but some things missing food wise. - Hotel good BUT some foods not available, pizza. At breakfast cook said no scrambled eggs available as take too long to cook. Black pudding ran out too. Presume that took too much effort as well! Rest of breakfast very good but one of our family massively would have preferred scrambled eggs to greasier fried ones.
- ianwI3424VI (10/5): Excellent Stop-Over - We stayed here for one night whilst travelling between two holiday destinations and loved it. We took advantage of the dinner/breakfast meal deal, which is excellent value for money. The room was quiet and very clean, with a very comfortable bed and the food was very good indeed. Shall definitely return when the opportunity arises.
- xlilangel4lyfx (10/5): Fantastic Stay - We stayed overnight here on a short stay on the way to Gretna and was pleasantly surprised. The outside does not do the inside and the staff justice. We decided to upgrade on arrival to Premier Plus which is a must and had a more than comfortable stay, air con is in the plus room. The shower was fantastic and bed truly superb. A quiet night sleep as well. Breakfast had plenty of choices and cooked deliciously. Reception and breakfast staff deserve an award for their truly superb customer service and making sure that we had everything that we needed. Plenty of car parking spaces around the entire building, remember to register your car. Thank you to all the staff, we may be back in the future and will recommend this premier inn to all.
- OMcGovern (8/5): Ticks the main boxes for value... - For a family one night stay at £75.98 including breakfast... it worked.
£54.00 for a family room (2 adults, 2 children) then £21.98 for two adult breakfasts (which included two free childrens breakfasts)
We were due to drive from Holyhead to Newport.. around a 6 hour drive but due to storm Floris we decided to arrive 1 day earlier and have a midway stopover.
I do like the Premier Inns, they're normally good (except Maidenhead)
Cannock Orbital had free parking, clean, good breakfast etc.
The TV was small. We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday and the carvery was sold out, they directed us to the sister Beefeater in Cannock. We drove there and their carvery was also sold out. It would've been nice if they rang their other branch than blindly send us there. We ended up eating in the other Beefeater and didn't spend as much, I would've had a few glasses of wine if I wasn't driving.
Other things to mention, there was only one plug on one side of the main bed and no usb charger ports. (I've been in better Premier Inns where they had plugs/usb chargers on each side of the bed)
As a cheap stopover, it worked well just off the motorway.
It would've been nice to have a bigger TV and plugs each side of the bed, so I deducted a point. But... I'd stay there again if I really needed to break up a long drive.
- smith4442013 (2/5): Lorry park - Lorry park.
Pub perfect food great rooms clean
Downside artic Lorry’s park up right outside your window with the engine running can see inside your room this goes on all night.
Poor show.
- cazzd2015 (10/5): Great stay - My wife and I had 2 wonderful nights in this fine premier inn (Cannock) we were looked after and left us very pleased with our choice of hotel - we found a very warm professional team here and would not hesitate to recommend or make future bookings
- shaunamK8058XG (4/5): Disappointed - We were very disappointed with this Premier Inn. We have stayed at quite a few but this one we feel was the worse one so far. When we arrived it was a nightmare finding a parking space & when we finally entered the hotel there was nobody on reception. Room was clean but was quite dim & tired. Bed seemed alot smaller than what we have stayed in at previous Premier Inns and was quite hard. We went to the restaurant adjoining the hotel for dinner. The food wasn't great, but we were tired from travelling all day so couldn't be bothered to go out to look for somewhere else.
- stephengR5490AA (10/5): Great service and staff really helpful. - We have used this hotel on many occasions and have always found the staff to be exceptional especially the manager Carol. The bedrooms an simple but functional and the beds are super comfortable.
- seanbY4891WW (10/5): Over all 10/10, can't fault it at all, really happy - Hotel very clean staff were really friendly and helpful, the bar staff downstairs were very helpful and friendly also food was 10/10 price was good cannot fault the place at all.
- Dave-D-Parker (2/5): A farce over nothing - Stayed here as we were visiting family nearby for a wedding. We booked multiple rooms however these weren’t together allocated together.
After the wedding we had a drink in the room, wife, daughter, boyfriend, myself etc and daughter put on some background music on her PHONE.
We had staff knocking the door telling us to keep quiet and pushing notes under the door! What a joke!
We were just chatting and having a drink. We weren’t shouting or dancing or particularly noisy! And background music from a PHONE isn’t loud.
Had they put all the rooms we booked together rather than allocating them across multiple floors perhaps it would have stopped the pedantic neighbours complaining??
But surely any Manager worth the title of “Manager” would have told the complainer than we were not being excessively loud, we were just talking and had background music on. What a farce over nothing.
