Guest Reviews
- simonwW3273LI (10/5): Great view - Very nice room, great view. Hotel is a bit "tired" but overall it was clean
Would definitely stay there again, ideal for Princess Theatre, 5 minutes walk
- Rick120890 (10/5): 5* business stay - We stay here on a weekly basis for work purposes and everytime its a great stay. The rooms are always clean and the food in the restaurant is perfect. I would like to give a special mention to racheal (rachel) on reception, who goes above and beyond everytime we stay, she has a friendly smile and is always chatty and nothing is evwr too much troubke with any issues. She is a credit to the company! Which is also a reason we always come back to this prwmier inn
- O7317ETsheilad (4/5): As filthy a restaurant as last time - Comfortable bed and clean room if you remembered to ask for it to be cleaned!!
Filthy restaurant which hasn't improved since a year ago (photos)
Safety issue regarding electric supply to lights on tree (photo)
- matthewlS1757ZA (10/5): Great Stay - Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The check in time was nice and quick and had no issue in doing so. When arriving at our room, we was very satisfied how clean the bedroom was, as well as to how nice it was. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean.
- Z5482NYsheilad (4/5): As filthy as last time. - Whilst the room was comfortable and the mattress divine, the washbasin tap took 10 mins to run hot water. What a waste of water.
The bar and restaurant were as filthy as the last time I stayed about a year ago.
The bar tables were sticky and the carpets were looking shabby but it was the restaurant that gave us most concern.
The walkway to the hot buffet was badly stained with ingrained grease. Likewise the carpet in the restaurant seating area.
The bin to deposit used tea bags etc had no pedal so to use it people had to handle very dirty lid to dispose of rubbish.
This was bad enough but I am sure the leads from the Christmas tree lights wrapped around the plug were a safety concern to us. I will be sending photos to Torbay Council.
I have attached photos of the above.
- roycS6683RU (4/5): Won't stay there again - Very disappointed with this Premier, clean and tidy as you would expect, but issues with the plumbing ie bath taps extremely difficult to turn on and off and the toilet flush was also very hard to flush. We got back to the hotel bar around ten pm only to be told they were closed, they must have turned away at least a dozen people There was no info re opening times when we booked. Very disappointed.
- Minder54 (10/5): Great place to stay - The hotel was clean and tidy and the lady at reception polite and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The towels supplied were ample. Having the shower gel and shampoo supplied was great. The coffee and tea facilities plenty.
Check in was easy and having early check in was great.
The only think is bring a bottle opener. The price was reasonable
- 845rachaelk (2/5): Parking fine - pay twice for 1 night! - We now have a fine from parking in their carpark as they either didn't add my numberplate or explain how parking worked when we arrived. So this has cost us twice as much as we thought! The parking was terrible, no spaces too.
- 248steviej (10/5): Great! - Just a quick stop over for work, all team especially the reception were great! Rooms clean and comfortable will definitely if back in the area.
- 3078Sue (8/5): Staying for a show - The location was great, the bedrooms again very gpod, but l was disappointed to come back from a show to discover the bar had closed at 10pm, l was expecting it to be open to hotel guests and as l had been the designated driver had not been able to have one at the show so l was really looking forward to relaxing with a drink before bed.
- Kostie (10/5): Great hotel…above and beyond - Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff at this hotel for making us feel at home whilst going through a very difficult time.
The housekeeping staff were wonderful Janice and Anne on reception were very supportive and sympathetic as to the reason we was staying at this hotel and went above and beyond to help us feel at home and comfortable.
Wouldn’t stay anywhere else and if I could give 10 stars I would.
The staff at this hotel are some of most caring, compassionate and dedicated I’ve ever come across.
Thank you all for making our stay welcoming and helping us out where possible.
A credit to the Premier Inn team
- S5862CDbarrys (8/5): Good rooms and food but parking could be an issue - The premier inn itself was good and breakfast in the restaurant was good and all the staff helpful and friendly. Only downside here is the parking which is shared with beefeater so if you go out for the day might not get a space on your return so may have to pay to park somewhere else. Very limited spaces so would be a nightmare in the summer
- graham999Manchester (8/5): Worth the extra for premium - Classing it as Tonbridge a little off the mark as it’s by the hildenborough town sign. It’s about a £7 taxi ride from railway station for info. Quickly checked in although later there was a huge queue. I had premium room and well worth it. Excellent facilities including pod coffee machine, upgraded bathroom with rain shower. Bed was very comfortable indeed. Quiet location.
Only prepacked micro wave style items available for breakfast as the restaurant next door closed at the moment. Not known when will reopen or if available for breakfasts.
- janmA6593OF (10/5): Would definitely stay here again - Stayed for 3 nights, sharing a room with my 90 year young mum! Can’t fault anything about our stay and would definitely stay here again. (Actually better than The Grand Hotel) where we stayed for mum’s birthday in June!
- dianetZ5446TG (10/5): A great hotel. - A lovely hotel. Well placed on the sea front, friendly, helpful staff, great bedroom and bathroom with a bath, good food at a great price. The whole hotel has a lovely atmosphere. We come back every year (twice this year) and always enjoy it.
- alisonbI9998RL (10/5): Great location - Great location, and a 5 minute walk to train station and Theatre.
Premiere Plus rooms highly recommended. Friendly helpful staff.
- fatoldman (8/5): Great, apart from the digital detox. - Greeted most pleasantly on arrival and in passing while moving out in the morning: excellent staff.
Room also fine, apart from the absence of the free WiFi. Reception tried to help by providing the premium WiFi, which also didn't work in our room.
As they warn that cellular Reception is intermittent, you would hope that Premier Inn management would realise that good WiFi is essential here, but sadly they don't seem to have worked that out yet.
Management! You are letting down excellent staff.
- _zeenaandme_ (8/5): A lovely stay on Torquay seafront - Very nice hotel on a prime location on Torquay Seafront. We upgraded to a sea view and it was well worth it. It was lovely to wake up each morning to the sea. Parking is £8 per day and if you’re staying for more than one day there is no guarantee that you’re going to get a space so we came back to the hotel earlier than we really wanted to to ensure we got a space.
What I really like about this hotel is that it has a completely separate bar area in the hotel which was extremely popular.
Family rooms were spacious. The only issue we had was there wasn’t enough cups or towels for the number of people but this was quickly rectified with a quick trip to reception.
Special shout out to Steve on reception, for checking us in before 3 pm as the kids were becoming very restless.
I really don’t understand why they would prefer to have a reception full of people rather than checking them in. It just makes it very stressful for both staff and people who are paying to stay in the hotel.
If the rooms are not available I can understand but at 2:50pm they should be.
- N2785DKjohnp (4/5): Unexpected visitors on a friday evening - Ah, the Premier Inn Tonbridge. Where a good night's sleep isn't just a promise, it's an audition for a nature documentary! I was gently roused at the entirely reasonable hour of 02:30 AM by what I can only assume was a very exclusive, private party happening just above my head. Forget the gentle murmur of traffic; I was treated to the thrilling, stereophonic sound of my ceiling boards being aggressively chewed by my tiny, nocturnal neighbours. Their joyous squeals and furious scratching provided the perfect, rustic alarm clock, letting me know that their foraging needs were far more important than my commitment to a Hypnos-induced coma. Honestly, the nerve of some hotels, providing such an authentic Kentish wildlife experience free of charge! And since my internal peace was utterly decimated by this woodland rave and the possibility of sleep had vanished entirely, I decided to take the next logical step and check out at 04:00 AM. Who needs extra hours in that super-comfy bed when you can enjoy the invigorating silence of your car boot? It truly was an unforgettable, and frankly, unnecessary, character-building moment that resulted in a seriously premature, but deeply felt, farewell. My wallet may have paid for a full night, but my ears earned a VIP pass to a rodent rock concert.
- juliegX8419DU (8/5): Great hotel - Room, hotel really great location perfect, only downside continental breakfast not so good, horrible cheap bread, no nice cheese or anything. Vegetarian evening meal options poor, too much reliance on burgers, how about jacket potato, quiche, veggie pies, leeks butter beans, curry, too musmch assumption if you are veggie you love burgers yuck
- B4095AGhannahf (10/5): Great stay. - Really great hotel - lovely staff. Really helped e out when my shoe broke! Nice big room that was warm, clean and really well set up for getting ready for a night out/function which us ladies appreciate. Would definitely recommend.
- Lysias54 (6/5): Cost cutting having an effect. - We arrived to check in and the reception area was deserted. We looked for a checking in machine and there wasn’t one. We rang the bell three times and eventually a woman appeared who wasn’t able to check us in but said it was easy to forget to take the customer alert buzzer if you left reception. After 15 minutes a receptionist arrived and we were checked in. The receptionist was pleasant but unapologetic for the long wait. However it was obvious he was virtually running the hotel alone so it was hardly his fault we had to wait. We were given room 1 on the ground floor we suspect because we had luggage and there is not a lift. Unfortunately Room 1 is extremely noisy with the main door banging shut and people up and down the stairs at all times of the day and night. We were also woken again by a group of guests outside our room chatting loudly with their car engines running at 06.30 am. We went to breakfast assuming we would be provided with their usual buffet but it was just a snack counter with little choice.
Recently we have had to use two hotels from other chains and it is obvious Premier Inn are no longer the best value. Other Companies have plenty of staff, have very good restaurants and for the same price or cheaper offering much more i.e in one hotel two king size beds in one room with breakfast for £101. We have been using Premier Inns as a first choice for many years but that will not be the case going forward.
- robinhe (6/5): Standard hotel; misleading advert for car park discount. - The hotel is what you expect from a premier inn.
The advertised discount for the car park is NOT available. Car parking costs £8/day
- Connector03985890133 (10/5): Couldn't ask for more - Came here on business and was served promptly and kindly, the receptionist Kritan was welcoming and friendly and the room was exactly as needed. Clean room, decent shower pressure, parking was handy and room service was spot on, with one of the staff (Izzy I think her name was) being very accommodating. Great value for money in a convenient location.
- StuartA1147 (8/5): Perfect for overnight stay - Went to Torquay for the Daggers game. Great location and lovely spacious room. Slightly disappointed with lack of vegan options at breakfast.
- Quest768927 (4/5): Poor cleanliness spoilt our stay - Room 2 was very poor in cleanliness badly stained seat cushion and floor not vacuumed
The passageway had not been vacuumed.
- farfromhomeReading (10/5): Great stay owing to the helpful young man at reception. - So, in this case it was the positive, helpful and 'can do' attitude of the blonde haired young man at reception that made this stay really good. He helped me carry my bags to my room (no lift) and nothing was too much trouble. He is a credit to Premier Inn.
The pub is being refurbished which could be a bit annoying as it was closed, and I didn't see a restaurant within a quick walking distance. - but I'd eaten before hand. The car park wasn't huge but there is sufficent parking. For me this is the better of the two Tonbridge Prems as it is newly refurbed and it is more central to the town. Though still a 15 /20 min walk in. It does have less parking though than the other one. I spoke to some ladies cleaning the rooms and they were very helpful too. Best of this place is the staff.
- laurar395 (10/5): Clean comfortable and quiet - Stayed one night - lovely welcome at check in. Room was clean and comfortable. Quiet aspect too. Check out easy. Room size also good.
- Annietony85 (8/5): Nice friendly hotel - Great location and Seaviews . Close to train station and town centre, friendly staff,
Only downside is air-conditioning gets warm even at night
- stevenbM4274TV (2/5): dreadful - Avoid rooms are are grimy and the room extractors have a high pitch white noise front desk could not give me a quite room, dreadful. battle to get a refund as i did not stay
- T26BGstanleyb (2/5): No response - Wanted to know more about parking. The AI didn’t help, then waited a long time to be put through to reception but that didn’t happen so PI cut me off. Tried again, same treatment! Honestly PI if you can’t look after clients trying to book what is the service on site like? Stayed elsewhere…
- helenbW3772XR (8/5): Breakfast not good on Sunday - Breakfast on the sunday not good sausage overcooked no hasbrowns went up ten mins later still none eggs over cooked. Monday everything perfect hence I think different chef.
- Vegetate (8/5): Mostly good - The hotel is in a great location and we were very happy with our sea view room. It was clean and spacious with super comfy bed and good shower. The staff in the bar were very friendly. When we had a problem with WiFi the receptionist was really helpful. The car park was good value at £8 for 24 hours. On the downside they did seem a bit short staffed - very long queues to check in and we had to wait a long time to be seated at breakfast. There were no cups out so I had to find someone to replenish them and she was a bit surly. They ran out of some breakfast items. All in all it was good value but I think next time I’ll skip the breakfast.
- Cheekyglen28 (10/5): Great night sleep 21/9/25 - I stayed here for one night 21/9/25 this place is nice staff friendly helpful polite the site was clean and tidy warm Wellcome on arrival the only thing I would say having the Vauxhall inn next door and doing there food for them don’t do them any favours I would say you need to put someone undercover to go in there that isn’t known to them see what customers experience I have done a review on the Vauxhall inn as well so to the girls at premiere inn Tonbridge thank you for a good night sleep great service room 102 love mr cheeky in Kent 1000/1000 stars
- tracy (6/5): - Staff were helpful and friendly but property is very tired. Paint is peeling in bathrooms and bedroom, and the room smelt slightly damp. There were no electric sockets near headboard, we needed an extension cable running across the room. Corridor was in severe need of vaccuming. The property needs redecorating and deep cleaning.
- R4240KIstephenh (6/5): Not a good night's sleep - Would have been nice to have been told pub (beefeater ) had closed down when i booked it thanks so much for not telling me. Was in room 7. They have built a breakfast room next door from 7 am all you can hear is plates being moved fridge doors opening. Not ideal.
- foodcriticchatham (10/5): Loved it - It was fantastic the staff were lovely the receptionist was amazing and had a wonderful personality she loved to crack a joke but worried way to much
- Freedom22141018617 (4/5): Awful stay but comfy bed - Me and my partner stayed for a night while visiting family, the room was clean and comfortable but everything else left us quite upset, we’ve had what i assume was a member of staff walk into are room an hour before check out with no knock or anything, while my partner was in the shower and left without an apology. We were also most looking forward to breakfast, which we had prepaid for and after checking breakfast times which were 6:30am-10:30am on the leaflet provided we headed to the pub at 9:45 for breakfast only to be told they stopped serving it at 9. We then talked to the reception where we were just told that the leaflet was wrong and “most of the time we scribble out the times” we then had to ask for a refund for our breakfast which was awkward to have to do, especially with how unapologetic the whole experience was. I usually love a premier in for a reasonably priced nights stay but we will definitely not be returning.
- whirlygig9396 (8/5): Comfortable stay while attending family wedding - Alison made check-in easy & gave clear instructions on the rooms, & car registration details. She was friendly & welcoming.
Room 104 was clean & comfortable. The room is located right above reception so we heard a lot of noise from guests coming back from a wedding (which we’d been to). It was a Saturday night, everyone was jolly & happy so not a complaint just an observation.
Slept really well, blackout curtains really do their job well.
- 574minl (10/5): Newly done, easy, friendly, clean - just what you need! - I had a perfect comfy and easy experience here. Good value, quite nice interior - it all looked quite recently done up. Bathrooms were actually quite nice, the room had a big fan, big duvet as a spare, and comfy bed/pillows. I quite liked the vanity mirror separately from the bathroom which is nice getting ready. Staff were incredibly kind and friendly. I’d love to come back for a weekend and stay here!
- 135sharono (10/5): Lovely family trip - Very friendly and welcoming staff, changed our booking without any fuss, we only stayed one night, but had a lovely stay, room was a little warm, but fans available
- jas0719 (10/5): another lovey stay! - Another lovely stay. Marise (sp?), Alex and the sweet woman who checked us out Sunday morning (wish I could remember her name) made this visit as nice as previous ones. The room was clean and the staff was as professional as usual. I do suggest that if you have a big party, consider booking a table for a meal in nearby Paddock Wood. Two years in a row, the Vauxhall Inn near this hotel has let us down. It's good for breakfast if you are staying at the Premier Inn, but it is not good if you have a big party. We had ten people and a reservation and forty minutes later with a six week old baby, we still had no food and not even a pitcher of water. I don't think it was the servers' fault. Kitchen and new management perhaps. The hotel is not responsible though!
- louisemD2731AR (4/5): Could Do Better - At first glance, the hotel looked lovely.
Unfortunately, no one had read the email I had sent prior to my visit.
Although my friends had booked early check ins, their rooms were not ready at 11am. It felt quite disorganised.
We had a busy weekend, out at two functions, so I was not i the room for very long on day 1. Unfortunately, late on day 2, I noticed a silverfish scuttling over the pull out bed in my room.
My room was on the ground floor (as
requested). The en-suite really needs to be maintained better. There was a strange smell in the bedroom and en-suite. I thought it was damp, however, when the toilet was flushed last night, it appeared to be blocked. It was too late for maintenance to attend.
This morning, it was clear it had been completely backed up. I could not use the toilet. I reported it to the night manager at 6.15am, who told me to tell his manager who was due to be on duty shortly. This meant I had to repeat the whole sorry tale again, including the silverfish. This time I received genuine apologies.
If I had been staying any longer, I have no doubt the issues would have been addressed, but this is not good value for money.

- KentishTraveller13 (6/5): Sadly - things not as they were. - There is little doubt in my mind that the quality of Premier inns and associated restaurants is suffering seriously from the present state of Whitbread. Staff numbers have been reduced leading to long waits at hotel and restaurant reception desks. Staff are doing their best to battle with the conditions but it is obvious that morale is lower than it was.
I and my friends have been customers for many years and have returned often because we liked the facilities, the menus and the enthusiasm of the staff. At least five of the Premier Inns have lost their Beefeaters and the replacements have been poorer and no longer accepting non-resident guests. I have visited three Premier Inns this quarter.
The staff at Tonbridge did their best to make my visit comfortable but service has to deteriorate if numbers remain at present levels.
- andrewmarshall393 (10/5): This is an Excellent Premier Inn - This is an excellent Premier Inn. Good staff and good restaurant for Dinner and Breakfast. It's clean, comfortable and quiet. Restaurant is close by, a two minute walk.
- sharongO2807PU (6/5): Room too hot to sleep in. - The room was too hot to sleep in. Although a fan was provided it didn't make the slightest difference. The window could only open a few inches.
- corndodger (6/5): Overall picture - Overall just somewhere to rest your head try to book odd number room even numbers face road bloody noisy have to share a chair as only one supplied no good for more than one night lack of facilities no fridge so in warm weather nowhere tokeep anything cool.
- MaverickViper (4/5): Budget hotel, at a non budget price! - We have stayed at this location multiple times, however this time two things were noticeable:
1) the price had rocketed up to £160 per night
2) the lack of care and maintenance is totally apparent.
To me it looks like the hotel aren’t caring for the property, the bathroom walls had decaying paint and mold, and the room was crying out for a bit of care and attention.
The money they are asking for is outrageous for the area and what I thought the brand was all about. I don’t think Lenny Henry would be proud of this location.
If we’d paid a reasonable rate I’d be saying nothing, but at £160 the hotel management must do better. It’s a budget hotel with non budget pricing.
We weren’t bothered about the adjacent pub being closed that we’d received a number of warning about. The hotel seemed really bothered about this. But there are much better food options close by. It was all about being close to our friend’s house. The area isn’t great for hotels so I suppose the hotel will keep milking their guests. Poor overall.
- charlicmanc (10/5): Quiet and Friendly - Really nice hotel, good value for money for the location, car parking is readily available. staff on reception were friendly and check in process was easy. the room was spacious and clean and the whole hotel was quiet. food at the beefeater next door was lovely, breakfast and evening meal were easy to book at reception.
- puddle4000 (6/5): Beware the parking charge!! - Room was adequate, what you’d always expect from a Premier Inn. Shower was a bit rubbish.
A non-event of a stay, perfectly adequate, until 2 weeks later I received a £100 parking fine, despite giving reception my reg! I won’t be paying, and have appealed but I’m not the only one, reading reviews. Poor system clearly.
- N6937IJkellyb (10/5): Excellent - A lovely clean hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends who want an enjoyable experience. The bed was very comfortable and provided a good nights sleep and the cleanliness of my room was outstanding.
- cubsur (8/5): Good for a short stay, overall it was value for money. - Everything as expected at a Premier Inn. My only 'complaint' was that the free wifi was often very slow and at times unresponsive. I did fall back to my own mobile service a couple of times. Hot water was slow to arrive one day and water pressure seemed slightly low, but no big problem.
- h0lidayking (10/5): Nice pleasant stay - We stayed here for two nights over the Easter weekend.
We found everything to be as we expected. Nice clean room, recently refurbished. Spotless bedding and towels, plenty of hot water.
Warm welcome by staff member, nothing too much trouble.
We had the meal deal for the adjacent Beefeater. Everything was good, we couldn’t fault it.
Would definitely use the Premier Inn and Beefeater again
- Lou7921 (10/5): Comfortable bed - The traffic noise within the hotel was non existent in my room, despite being near a busy road.
The room was functional, practical, clean and comfortable. The shower pressure washer decent and the water lovely and warm.
The bed, for me, was extremely comfortable and the best sleep I've had in ages.
The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
I'd definitely return to this hotel if I find myself down that way again.
- Trek45738344262 (10/5): Wonderful stay over Easter break - Wonderful stay over the Easter holidays. Clean room, comfy bed and an amazing shower. The carpark is also very big and free which was a bonus.
All the staff were so friendly during our stay. Wanted to give a special mention to Lucy who really stood out to us and was super helpful so thank you.
If we are ever back in Kent we will be back.
- 50mv2018 (10/5): Great hotel, great location - Great hotel in a great location. We were visiting family and it was central to everything we needed in Tonbridge. It was clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant for breakfast was great. Would definately stay again.
- andrewcI7138OD (2/5): Poor - Hotel was great and so was staff but same couldn't be said for the staff in the pub vauxhall inn that you have to use for breakfast different menu that was in room and you only had 15 minutes to choose food before kitchen shut at 09:45 absolutely joke and the lady was no help at all but as recipient said they have no control over that pub and I thought lunch was a joke being told to wait an hour and half to be seated even though i was sitting at a table would not stay again just because of the pub you have to use.
- chal2nj (10/5): We were there to visit family in the area but the kids loved the hotel! - I was travelling with my 2 children (7 and 9). The 3 beds were made up really well and were super cosy. The kids loved the experience of the hotel even though we were visiting family.
All the staff were friendly. Building felt safe and secure.
Ultimate breakfast with the kids eating free was ridiculous value for money. Amazing.
- powerofthep (10/5): Great stay - Amazing stay, comfortable beds, quiet room and had a lovely night sleep, absolutely no complaints. Had a really helpful receptionist called Kritan, an asset to the hotel. Would definitely visit again and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Navigator42411820414 (10/5): To short and very sweet. - Premier inn Tonbridge North std the Gold standard for all the others up and down the UK, it was clean and fresh and the staff were lovely. My Husband and I have stayed at many premier inns and this was far ahead of the rest. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
