Guest Reviews
- jemmac734 (4/5): Very dissapointing - The location was perfect for what we needed. Price was a bit expensive and once we were inside we noticed how run down it is. The toom smelt incredibly damp. There was black mould on the ceiling of the room and bathroom and the window was pooling water constantly. It being -2 over night we didnt keep the window open with 2 young children in the room. It was a good size room but everything smelt damo and musty. Even the clothes we wore to bed smelt musty by the morning. Was very dissapointing
- Traveler03885683872 (2/5): Disgusting & BEDBUGS!!! - BEDBUGS!
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Absolutely disgusting and found bed bugs on the bed!!!
Family room so had to change rooms in the middle of the night with children. Horrendous experience
- darreno334 (10/5): Great staff - Probably the most relaxed Premier Inn that i have stayed in. This review pays credit to the lovely helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return here. Thank you
- Nonnie2807 (10/5): Excellent Stay - Parking is plentiful, albeit you have to pay and register your car and the automated check in was seamless. There is electric charging points (GeniPoint) in the car park 7kw
Stayed in a Premier Plus Room (306) and was clean and in good order. The room overlooked a large Tesco.
Food was good in the small restaurant- booking is essential.
Only negative was breakfast wasn’t ready to be served as advertised at 06:30 and as I had to leave for 06:45 this wasn’t perfect.
Overall good stay
- Nihilistic95 (10/5): Weekend away - Clean and comfy space. Does what it needed to do for a weekend away to see friends. Friendly and helpful staff. Food at pub next door was excellent
- Isembard (4/5): No cleanliness.. - Awful.. I generally am pleased with premier inn, but this was the worst I had stayed in. Considering the building is only 2 years old the cleanliness was awful in particular the bathroom. The towels in the room were ripped.
Food was dreadful, cold stale dried plastic like bacon. Awful.
- Trip657339 (10/5): Good value, convenient place to stay while visiting family nearby - Clean, comfortable room; we were feeling the cold and were able to turn up the temperature quickly. It was nice to have the option of a hot bath.
- Squeaks93 (10/5): A warm welcome - A lovely welcome from Claire and great service from Paula. Spotlessly clean rooms and a great distance from Oxford. Making our weekend away super convenient. Thank you!
- waynebP5264ZY (10/5): brillant service - thank you to vicky fantanstic service all week ................................................mmmmmmmmmmm.
.
- Feetstepout (8/5): Good, but sort out the heating - Easily accessible hotel. Modern and clean. Room up to usual standard ( good, basic, comfortable bed, but heating poor. Time lag of 15 minutes in air con working . Similar situation downstairs an significant fluctuations in temperature.
- RClarke100 (8/5): Great hotel! - Stayed here before travelling to Peterhead the next day. Lots of parking available which is a bonus! Receptionist was very informative and helpful. Room was immaculate - however there was no plug for my razor in the bathroom which is odd because in every Premier Inn i've stayed at - there's always a plug but this one didn't have any. Ceiling of the room was a bit low near the window so did have to mind my head at times. Restaurant next door was also good for breakfast and dinner - staff were great and the food was amazing as well! Did want to have a hot shower, but the water was lukewarm and did take ages to heat up, despite that my stay at the hotel was great and I will definitely be back!
- 754emmelinem (2/5): Don’t stay here - I’d seen other bad reviews but thought maybe just bad luck on those guests parts. I won’t stay here again. Restaurant was a joke. Sat there an hour and in the end I left without eating anything and only a glass of water the whole hour, I nearly passed out. Waitress said it was my fault for ordering pizza?!
- Navigate17893090987 (10/5): A pleasant stay after a long day’s work - On arrival to check in the staff greeted us with a friendly smile and were very welcoming and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and fresh towels were available on request. The service at meal times was excellent and the ladies working the evening meal were very polite and efficient and food was of good quality. And was nice to see that they were supportive of the great Ormond street hospital with a selection of gifts for sale and a tombola for me it was a pleasant stay well done to all
- P9435GUpeterc (8/5): Great - Great staff fantastic people great food and great service always there when needed great place to be very accessible good location best premier inn by far for parking and food quality
- A3836UVts (4/5): Stay if you just want a good night's sleep - 2 star at best. Welcome not the best all automated and we was not asked for our vehicle reg we had paid. We had issues with the temperature in the room and had to keep going back as the panel was locked so couldnt change. Dusty bathroom and mold round shower. Had the meal deal and when finished was questioned do you have anything to pay or are you on meal deal. Said meal deal assuming be paid automatically. Got a knock at the door in the room after to pay. Which we did. Went to brekkie. No juice place was a mess no one tidying breakfast areas. 1 slice of bread left only filled wen asked. 1 crumpet and 2 pancakes. Rock hard and burnt hot food. We got a refund and went to Tesco. Bargain fresh and tasty. Wont be back and wish the female staff would crack a smile too.
- Z7812SWcallumb (8/5): A perfect stopover on our trip. - The room was nice and clean, and as always, the bed was super comfortable. The automated check-in process was super easy to use. Overall the full facility was in good condition.
- Lamby1980 (6/5): Very average - Good location.
Reception never manned which is a bit of a pain. You always have to ring the bell for assistance. But they do come out quickly.
Room hadn't been cleaned properly and there was rubbish under the bed. However the bed was comfortable.
Shower area was dirty. Lots of grime considering how new the hotel is.
Breakfast was fairly good. Plenty for me as a vegetarian although you do have to ask for the hot food but that appears standard across all PIs I've stayed in.
- amylY3814FY (10/5): Amazing! - Lovely place. Very clean and warm welcoming. Enjoyed ever minute of it. Very comfy beds and nice clean rooms. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. Ready to help at any time.
- W1172BRneilm (2/5): Uncomfortable experience in Westhill - Room was advertised as accessible, but it was not accessible for disabled customers. Bed and bathroom were awkward to use.
We were disturbed by room service coming in at 08:00 as we were dressing. Poor value for money. We won't use again.
- mikehE9163LD (10/5): Superb staff especially Bella a real asset to the business - A wonderful experience, Bella could not have done more for us . We arrived late and we had booked the wrong room. She did a fantastic job off sorting out a problem we had created, she is a true asset to the company
- Garymason25 (10/5): Fabulous - "Our stay was fantastic. The room were spotless, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. We especially loved the complimentary breakfast—it was a great start to our day. We'll definitely be back!"
- A7377GBjayh (2/5): Rip off - Hidden parking fine.
Avoid this place.
I can accept that it's under staffed.
I can accept that it's not the Hilton.
I can accept that not everything is tip top.
I can't accept that no one tells you to pay for parking here and then you get a £60 fine in the post.
Simply stealing money to charge for parking in a motel and not inform the guests.
- Fangio53 (6/5): One night stay. - There have been a lot of negative reviews about this hotel. On the plus side we found it to be clean and the evening meal was good.
On the negative side you have to pay for parking which is ridiculous and I had to pay for the meal rather than it being put on the room. With any decent hotel you pay when you check out.
- sim0namarianaf (10/5): A short but amazing stay - Everything was great. I had an amazing breakfast and dinner. The room was clean and the mattress was very comfortable. Friendly and amazing staff
- jeremysB6525FZ (4/5): Business user that stays there often - It's just a basic overnight stay and if you get the rooms at the end next to the roundabout traffic noise keeps you awake all night.
For the price there are so many better hotels although sadly not in this location.
It's not like the advert. my pillowcase never properly covers the pillow on the inside. the duvet cover is open at the end, which is not hygienic, but I suspect make changing the bed easier for staff.
Its reasonably clean and not terrible but for the price you would expect much more.
- M5571YGcolinb (8/5): Hotel experience - Convenient placed hotel next to Tesco superstore and other stores. Hotel clean with friendly staff. My only criticism was walking through smokers at front entrance.
- christopherhH4956BS (4/5): Cost does not reflect the quality - Positives (not many)- Very friendly and helpful staff, air conditioning.
Negatives- Upon early check in which i paid for and after a 5 and half hour journey with 2 young children we were made to wait 20 minutes in the hot car because the room wasnt prepared yet. Basic tv and to make it worse the hdmi cable and wall input were not working also behind tv was full of dust. There was a toy from the previous family left under a bed, the shower head had pink mold on it so had to shower at a relatives place, also found a false nail on the floor that wasn't ours. Finally very hard and uncomfortable pillows. I stayed at this hotel in 2019 and the quality was much better then. At almost £300 for 2 nights I expected better and will not be returning on my next trip.
- Passenger621575 (10/5): Another great stay - Another great stay at Premier Inn at Aberdare. Staff are always super helpful. Room and area clean, quiet and great to stay to visit family in the area.
- F1595CCalisong (8/5): Initial welcome creates excellent impression - We have stayed in many "Premier Inns" but this was one of the best.
Particularly impressive was Fiona, the receptionist. She was extremely courteous and efficient:she printed out a map of our destination for the next day and also a menu;she gave us a second key and bath towel immediately on request and offered us a sheet when we mentioned we find the hotel's duvets too heavy.
These may seem to be qualities essential for a receptionist. However,I once spent the night in a "Premier Inn"where I waited in a queue with 4 other people to be checked in while the receptionist argued loudly on the phone about a delivery to his home.He made no apology.
I have read another recent review. Our room was also on the second floor & it was spotless.
- Stay792587 (10/5): Clean, quiet sleep - Located close to access for the Brecon Beacons, links to local transport. Friendly staff well informed who advised us for local taxis.
- matthewc740 (10/5): Perfect place to stay for chasing waterfalls. - Not gonna lie, we love a premier inn. They're cheap and cheerful and they breakfast they provide is always banging :)
We stayed here for 2 nights last week while we were chasing waterfalls around the brecon beacons. Only a short drive away from everything you need. Next door to a brewers fayre which did the food for the hotel and a lidl or asda 2 minute walk away.
All the staff were helpful and welcoming and always gave my son a prize when he did colouring for the wall of fame- nice touch.
We will def come and stay again when in the area, thankyou guys it was a pleausre.
- Takafumi (8/5): - good
- raphaelw901 (2/5): Disgusting experience. - I stayed at this Premier Inn recently and it was a huge disappointment. I don't know if it was my room and my experience, but the room I stayed on the second floor towards the end, was in shocking state, the carpet was absolutely disgusting, stained and sticky in places like it hadn't been deep cleaned in months. The bathroom more of the same, the floor looked wrecked, in the edges there was dirt. Also the curtain had mould around the bottom part. Also to top it up there was a wired, unpleasant smell through the corridor. Apart from the lady who checked me in, didn't see anyone in the reception, I could have a word with.
- Discover49600648722 (10/5): Good location - Very good value. Really quiet in hotel at night. Staff very friendly. Excellent location for us. Restaurant pretty good too.
- siorc2022 (10/5): A good base to go to any attraction in south Wales. - A clean friendly hotel with easy access to the beacons, Cardiff and other attraction. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
- F6232UBjuliem (4/5): Hot, hot - Heat in room awful even with fan. 26c on thermostat. Difficult to sleep. Especially with child.
Breakfast 7 till 9am. Nothing fresh.
Dinner good lovely staff.
- charlesrG6307CJ (10/5): Brilliant location , a bit too cosy though. - Lovely clean premises. Quiet and peaceful. Staff friendly and efficient. First stay at this location and would recommend and stay again. One thing though....the website states there is no air conditioning at this site, which is fine, the sticker on the room window telling me that you havd made me safe by restricting the window opening is reassurinv , but at 3am , it was 29.5 degrees in that room and I would honestly have preferred to take my chances with whatever it is I was being protected from. Luckily I always carry a small electric fan when travelling and managed to get some sleep. Perhaps a rethink of the window system to allow at least a 20cm opening? I could have undone the screws and opened the window myself but that is not really the idea is it?
That aside, it is a pleasant location with good access and parking, even for my truck in the corner of the overflow parking area.
Thank You.
- paulkP7414RM (10/5): Oasis 2025 - The service was amazing... the staff so so nice... special shout to the lively and lovely Debs and the very attractive Kayleigh.. what a pair made our trip that extra special xx thank you Girls... till next time xx
- 843alfredm (6/5): Not great - Cheap and feels cheap. The room was a good size and the building was nice, but the hotel is run with the clear priority of saving money. The room wasn't properly cleaned when we arrived and despite asking they never cleaned it while we were there, just have us new towels. Surprisingly stingy about cups, there were none in the bathroom, just one each in the bedroom and when I asked for more (we were staying for 6 nights) they basically said no.
- paulfW4856LA (10/5): Another road trip to Aberdeenshire - Another few days spent in Aberdeenshire, visiting many local attractions and taking many photos again. The weather was superb again too. Reception team always friendly here. Had my cooked breakfasts in the Shepherd's Rest next door - special shout out to Gloria and Danielle C (don't forget the "C" she said!) Friendly and hospitable gals. I'll no doubt be back next year sometime.
- Curiosity00879052139 (2/5): Bad experience - £15 charge to check in before 3pm i had to atend a wedding at 3pm so I had no choice to pay £15 charge because my wife need to do her hair and so on and the room was ready at 1pm discussed never stay there again i rather slept in the car. But the wedding was fantastic.
- janeyjane66 (10/5): Best service ever at Aberdare - Restaurant and reception staff were the nicest and most helpful I have ever met. All went beyond to assist my walking group with places to visit. Researching on our behalf, providing leaflets and directions. Arranged taxis and assisted with food recommendations. Thank you
- waynerD4442WJ (10/5): Lovely clean and comfortable room - Lovely clean and comfortable room.
Staff were super friendly.
Very basic but well worth the money.
Food in the pud was OK, nice clean and friendly place.
Plenty of parking and very easy to find.
Only negative was no Iron in the room but other than this I would highly recommend.
- FellowTraveler794335 (6/5): Kept awake by seagulls and room temperature - First of all the positives. Being a Premier Inn you know exactly what you are getting with the room and this was up to the usual high standard. The bed was comfy and the shower was excellent.
Moving on to the downsides. The room temperature was baking hot, and with no aircon at this hotel I can imagine the temperature would be intolerable in the summer. The window only opens by a very small fraction, and not enough to let very much air in to cool the room. I was unable to sleep with the duvet in that temperature and ended up having to use a couple of towels from the bathroom to sleep under at night. Allowing the windows to be opened further would be very handy as I find I simply cannot sleep in a room that is 23 C.
The main issue during my stay was the seagulls, especially the noise they were making in the car park all night. I would say I was lucky if I got around 3 hours sleep. Another big problem I found was my car was completely covered in seagull droppings in the morning, and I had to go to a car wash. There was even a seagull perched on top of my car while I was getting into it and it made little movement when I tried to shoo it away. Hopefully the hotel is able to go something about this, but this is possibly an issue that the hotel need to call in an outside party and the local council to help them deal with.
Finally breakfast was what could only be described as chaotic. The poor young guy working there seemed totally rushed off his feet and the place seemed short staffed in the morning. There were no glasses, or plates, or bowls, or milk and it was a bit of a wait for any of these items to be brought over. He was doing his best but he really could have done with an extra pair of hands to help him.
- Craigvar (10/5): Convenient for Costco and avoiding city centre. - Lovely friendly welcome. We were on the ground floor and at the rear of the hotel so no stairs to climb and quiet at night. Heating excellent as were the beds and bedding. Really good night’s sleep and a lovely breakfast at the convenient Shepherd’s Rest next door. Great staff and service in both places. Excellent value all round and convenient for visiting Costco and avoiding the city centr
- chrishO2535OH (10/5): Comfy accessible room, great staff team - Accessible room was set out well, the bathroom was fully accessible and easy to use. Staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The only small downside is the limited number of disabled parking spaces adjacent to the hotel.
- Cozzybe (10/5): Fantastic stay - Just had 2 lovely nights at this hotel and felt welcomed from the moment we stepped into the hotel.
Staff so friendly could not help us enough especially Debs she is an absolute star.
Lovely greeting with the wine and chocolate in our room for Valentine’s Day what a wonderful touch.
Room clean, showers hot, comfortable beds and a great breakfast next door.
Will certainly visit again with out any hesitation.
- Lucy05345 (10/5): Lovely stay! - Lovely clean room, fantastic customer service with smiles all round. Friendly receptionist who had all the answers for us, thanks Sophie!
Good service next door too at the pub with great food, just what we needed.
Only thing I’ll mention, the shower head was cracked in our room so the bathroom had a shower too!😂
- Muss132 (10/5): Lovely stay as always - Excellent stay - bed and pillows so comfy - duvet and bedding good - room temperature just right - staff really helpful and on hand for anything you might need - lovely restaurant next door and always have a great meal - plenty to choose from and good value - wine nice too
- dodgernose (8/5): Plenty coffee - The hotel was clean and good value for money, the staff was friendly too and check in was quick and easy. Liked that in reception you could help yourself to coffee/tea and milk for your room without having to hunt down staff to top up the supply.
- 171hazelt (10/5): Just perfect - What can I say except one of the best premier inn we've stayed in. We had room 9, accessible room. Upon arrival guy on reception very helpful, area very clean, a tea station available to help yourself to extra tea, coffee etc. Arrived at room.... spotless, smelt fresh and clean, bathroom was shining, spotlessly clean. Bed very comfy, warm room with adjustable heater. I asked for iron and board and the reception guy brought it along. We were very comfortable during our stay.
Decided to have breakfast and it was beautiful. Buffet style, plenty hot food and cold selections. If any complaint it's the toaster!!!! 4 times I put bread through, still not toasted right.. maybe needs changing. Definitely value for money. We will certainly return here without hesitation. Do NOT be put off by 1 star reviews, honestly place was just lovely.
- jonathanfK7291QT (2/5): Beware of disappointment and note that you can't complain unless it's booked in your name! - We've always liked Premier Inn, but this was a massive disappointment. This hotel apparently has a few nicely decorated, up to date and well maintained, new rooms. We got an old room with not an iota of warmth and none of that inviting feeling. On arrival at 9pm, the window was open and the room was cold. Later found out why! No ventilation in bathroom, so after a bath, the walls in the room and carpet were damp with condensation. Several lights didn't work. Bedside lights didn't even have bulbs in them! Don't know if the heating worked, but the room wasn't warm. Drab throughout. Room was obviously suffering from neglect. Staff were helpful and polite, so no complaints there. Outside there were several health and safety concerns, with most of the lights not working, the perimeter fencing falling down. Brewers Fayre was neglected in a similar manner, with worn table tops, staining above food service areas, faulty equipment, bad signage, not great service and the new "limited breakfast array" which was honestly rubbish in comparison to the old ways. Outdoor children's play area fencing was missing many panels and on one side was collapsing. Safer to have no fence!! Cutting costs, poorly staffed and yet ever expanding! Apparently one can't complain unless you're named on the booking. Wife's getaway birthday present to me. She doesn't like to comment, so as I'm not the relevant guest, I'm not entitled to have an opinion. Pointed out that my wife does not like to say anything and they haven't responded to me further! Take note, reviews from over a year ago, reflect similar points of view, so chances of improvement are slim! Plenty more to say, but I hope that you've already got the picture. It's my understanding that due to policy changes, you can no longer expect that guaranteed level of comfort and standards in this place are well below par.
- kulwinderd2024 (2/5): Disgusting carpet - Stayed in premier inn several times before, this easiest has to the worst in terms of cleanliness. The carpet was filthy!! I think I could have used a knife to scrape off the grime of the carpet, it was that thick with dirt. Carpet desperately needs to be changed. There was a durex wrapper by the side of the bed! Disgusting! Clearly a more through sweep of the room needs to be done. The bedsheets looked clean, I so hope that they were clean sheets!!
- georgiarV1235NY (10/5): Queen Kate! - Huge shout out to Kate on nights! She was so caring and helped us out so much when my friend was ill. Best customer service we've had in a Premier Inn.
Thank you for checking on us all during their stay! Hopefully we get to see you again on their next visit.
- tonybY3356ND (6/5): Terrible breakfast,no heating in hotel. - I have stayed here many times in the past,I never had a bad room and the staff are always first class,it always used to serve the best breakfast in Aberdeen, but this time it was awful, thick congealed fatty bacon and the worst tasting sausages I ever had they had a really funny rotten taste off them,I couldn’t eat them at all even when smothered in brown sauce, like the worst sausages you could buy from Netto! The room in fact the whole hotel had no heating on,I asked for heating and the girl arrive with two oil filled radiators which were fine for me,just be aware, breakfast finishes at 0900! The restaurant was good and again the staff were excellent, because of the breakfast I will be staying in the Holiday inn down the road next time, sorry,a good place ruined by bad management.
- F6694YQstephens (10/5): Friendly clean and easy to get to - We turned up late ish 10pm, staff asked if we needed help with the bikes I was putting in the room. Everyday always asked if we needed anything very polite.
The room was on the smaller side of thing for 4 poeple but we did have bikes in the room aswell so can't complain at all.
- V4546PDdavidr (2/5): Dirty experience - The room was smelly and mouldy. The window had mould too. The shower was leaking all over the bathroom floor. My room was on the second floor, and as soon as you get of the lift you'll see a dirty carpet, and further you go it gets filthier and smelly. There was no-one in reception to talk to when I left
- Nairn_11 (6/5): A change of room - We have stayed at Premier Inns many times and been very satisfied. This time the room we were allocated was in the"new wing" (8 years old!) On reaching the corridor there was a very bad smell which was also in our room.
We returned to reception and asked for a change of room. The receptionist was very helpful and gave us a room in the older part which was fine.
The same smell was present in the new wing on that floor too. Apparently it is due to the glue used on laying the carpet. The staff are constantly using air fresheners but they have limited (no?) effect. We were told others have complained about the smell too. In short if staying make sure your room number is less than 122 or 222!
- brucey1971 (8/5): Standard Premier Inn - As the title suggests standard premier inn with the facilities you would expect, enough parking and a restaurant next door.
The hotel has an agreement for breakfast but not evening meal so you will need to book that yourself with the Shepherds Rest.
The pub/restaurant is excellent though and if you’re just passing through there is a McDonald’s and Starbucks just down the road on a business park.
- GFRP2020 (6/5): Typical Premier Inn - Hotel was a standard Premier Inn. Restaurant was disappointing, slow, over priced and food was below average
