Guest Reviews
- Dubris (6/5): In Need of a Spruce-Up. - This hotel has a great location if you arrive at Shrewsbury station it is only a short walk and if you arrive by coach or bus it it adjacent to the bus station. Handy for shops, sights and much of what this lovely town has to offer.
I was allocated a room that, while the bedding and other fundamentals were all clean, had evidence of some rough usage; a chunk having been taken out of the desk surface by a previous occupant or maintenance person (some time ago by the look of it). The windows accumulated a lot of condensation by the morning too which suggested upgrades generally were undoubtedly overdue.
I got a good price, my stay was not disturbed and breakfast the following morning was just right.
- Amandaajp (8/5): A Mixed review. - Food was good - quite a delay on receiving it
Breakfast good.
Bed was comfy. Room was good.
Terrible smell coming from the bathroom and there was a slug in the toilet.
Great welcome
- Z7860KOgrahamh (10/5): Comfy bed, clean room, good food, great value - Staying one night on our way up north. No surprises really, but I think this was one of our better Premier inn experiences.
The welcome at reception was very good. A nice friendly lady booked us in. The room was great …..comfy bed, clean, very good value. Only criticism was the room was cold when we arrived and it took 3 hours to get up to normal after fiddling with the heating controls.
We had a meal deal and we went to eat at 6:30. Even on a Thursday evening it was quite busy and we were glad we had booked. The food was very good, the service a bit slow but the staff were all good and friendly.
The breakfast was as expected at Premier Inn. Cooked to order and very good. We booked for 8am and amazingly the place was nearly empty ….virtually all the guests had eaten before us and had departed. There were a lot of vans I noticed the previous evening so I guess it’s a popular stop for trades people.
We would definitely stay here again.
- judithgF1083UL (6/5): Needs work. - Does what it says on the tin. A perfectly acceptable, clean room and a reasonable buffet breakfast. However, we were shocked by the appalling lack of cleanliness in the communal areas! The carpets outside the lifts and rooms were absolutely disgusting, the photos don't really pick up how bad they were. Discarded takeaway tray just left (photo was taken around 9am, no excuse for checks not having being done before that time). The ornaments in the dining area were thick with dust, general lack of cleanliness. No, it didn't affect our stay but it wasn't exactly enticing to warrant another stay. Room 408, Thurs 27th.
- evilation83 (4/5): Strong smell of damp, room 15. - Staff were friendly enough. Had an issue with my breakfast being included in the morning as the staff who confirmed my stay didn't add it on my work allowance, which is frustrating to explain this in the morning.
The room, room 15, absolutely stinks of damp. It is so bad that all clothes, even unworn, needed to go straight in the wash when I got back as the smell as seeped into it.
Room was clean, breakfast was fine.
But won't stay here again due to the damp smell in my room.
- Scottiedog03 (10/5): Perfect - Stayed 1 night, great value ..had meal deal. The hotel was very clean, quiet the staff friendly, professional and the food excellent…
- CJA393939 (8/5): Location makes it convenient - Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay to meet up with family. Location is it's main selling point, but I have to say it is getting quite worn and tatty; it could definitely do with a refurb. Really not that cheap either.
- ashleyd833 (8/5): Hotel convenient for Sheffield arena - Very convenient for the Sheffield arena .Staff were pleasant and helpful.parking was easy outside the hotel. The rooms were as expected and clean and we were happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel for anyone attending an event at the arena.
- ianjeta (4/5): Wasn’t great due to the noise .. room was nice - Don’t take room 18 storage room above woken up at 5am with constant things dragged accross the floor and banging noises ..
- FionaAndrews (10/5): Great customer service from Archie - Recently stayed at Shrewsbury town centre Premier Inn - good central location with parking and extensive breakfast offering. I had a slight problem with my room & Archie fixed it speedily & professionally so thank you for your efforts, much appreciated.
- 566kas (10/5): If only all of the British service industry was like this! - I stayed at this hotel last night. It really was exceptional! The Staff Paul, Lauren, Martin and Chef - name I didn’t get - were simply brilliant. Polite, friendly, professional and very helpful and funny. I’d had a very stressful business day and they made my evening relaxing and enjoyable.
- GigiShropshire (8/5): Adequate for my needs - On the whole I was satisfied with my stay at this Premier Inn. I had a comfortable night's sleep and the room seemed clean. The location is excellent, close to the town centre, as well as the bus and railway stations. is fairly average. I feel that the building has seen better days and could do with an upgrade, as the appearance is a little shabby compared with Premier Inns that have been renovated. There is no fast charging in the room and I had to rely on my portable charger. The television was not very efficient, however I feel that I paid a good out-of-season price and so it was good value.
- 308robertj (6/5): Very mixed. Good rooms upstairs but grotty downstairs and staff v mixed - Hard to write a review as such a mixed experience. The upgraded rooms a re good and quiet but (deliberately) not perfect. When they are at a reasonable price they are value but the price at this hotel varies massively due to events at the arena across the road.
On this occasion finding a parking space was near impossible as they use the hotel for event parking. Once inside you have to wait for bar staff to finish talking as they double as receptionists for the hotel. No problem with this when they are pleasant but the lad on Wednesday night was miserable, condescending and borderline rude. The ticketing for the car park went working so you have to pay online which is a faff.
The entrance and bar is scruffy and unwelcoming.
The premier rooms are a good upgrade on the standard ones and i like them apart from one thing. They deliberately reduce water pressure to save money but it means the shower experience is dreadful and it takes about 10 mins to fill the sink to shave.
All that said the top floor is very quiet, the beds are very comfy and you can get a decent sleep.
- 810glenw (10/5): Amazing! - Stayed here unexpectedly whilst working away and I’m so glad I did. I can honestly say that the staff, the food and the service in the best experience I’ve ever encountered nationwide in all of the premier inns I’ve stayed in and there’s been a lot over the years. Thank you Lucy so polite and on the ball. Thanks to Gareth, Harry and Cameron too, they couldn’t do enough for me. The chefs Natalie and Colin obviously take great pride in their craft. The best food I’ve ever had in a Ptemier Inn. A big thank you to all of you.
- mallinsonlouise02 (8/5): Good in parts - Check in staff not very helpful.
Evening bar staff Tracy and Adam very helpful, excellent service. Thank you for making our evening
- C6170CBadamp (10/5): Just fabulous! - My husband and I stayed at this hotel last night and it was wonderful. The lady at reception greeted us kindly and was very welcoming. We loved the little note and treats in the room - a lovely touch. The restaurant staff were really polite and very hardworking. The food choice was extensive and the quality and value for money were excellent. I loved the bookshelf where you could take a book for a donation - what a great idea. The room was really comfortable and we slept well. When we checked out, a different lady was at reception. She was equally kind, asking about our stay and wishing us a good day. We will definitely return to this hotel when we are in Shropshire again.
- Camper564252 (10/5): Lovely staff make a great stay. - The room was very comfortable but it is the team at the hotel that make it a pleasure to stay. Always helpful and friendly...even when I asked if they could have a gentle word with the person in the room above due to how loud they had the base turned up on their music, they gently informed me that the sound was coming from a practice session in the arena!! Oh well, we are from down south so please don't judge us too harshly 😄.
The food was excellent too. Thank you and your fantastic staff for a fabulous stay. John and Sue Hoade
- Relax667565 (10/5): Perfect for a town centre break - We always stay here when visiting family in Shrewsbury. It is central to all the shops and restaurants. Hotel is clean, staff are friendly and breakfast is good. We always have a good nights sleep here.
- 944pd (6/5): Pros & Cons - Just returned from an Ok stay! Cons.. Black mould on bathroom dials. Not overly warm and car parking spaces very small.
Pros, great location, comfy bed, great blackout curtsins.
- OnAir67937470420 (6/5): Noisy - We stayed in room 101 which has some kind of extractor outside the window which was a constant noise all night even with window closed, and the metal barrels for the pub were delivered at some ungodly hour and the noise was horrible. Lots of noise until early hours from the moving of barrels etc. right outside the window, staff throwing stuff around and clanging the bins etc. The blackout curtains were not great in that room either. Everything else was you’d expect from Premier Inn, just avoid that room if you don’t like noise!
- A4639JDdeborahp (4/5): I won't be back - My third visit, I won't be back. I won't go in to loads of detail but when the heating wasn't working in my room staff didn't know what to do. On the third visit to reception, at my suggestion, I left with a plug-in. heater that slowly did get some heat in to the room. The whole experience was unpleasant I'll look elsewhere when I come to Shrewsbury. I've raised a complaint and hope to get a refund as the whole experience was dispiriting and left a really poor impression on me.
- dionj648 (10/5): Tracey and Bella! - Outstanding Service from Tracey and Bella!
I stayed at Premier Inn tonight and was genuinely blown away by the service from Tracey and Bella. From the moment I arrived, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care made me feel the experience was so personal and welcoming.
They handled everything with such warmth and efficiency — it’s clear they truly take pride in their work and the comfort of their guests. You can tell when people love what they do, and Tracey and Bella absolutely do.
They both deserve to be recognised for their amazing attitude and outstanding service. Premier Inn is lucky to have them — they turned a simple stay into a memorable experience!
- M472APsallyh (2/5): Terrible night's sleep in room 415 constant humming.. they don't honor good nights sleep guarantee!! - My husband and I stayed for a three night stay for
a mini break visiting the area. On the surface the room was very nice...we had the most upgraded room you could get at this premier inn. We were actually in room 415 and I would totally advise rejection of this room if you want a decent night's sleep!
Once in bed we noticed a constant humming noise...I turned off everything that could make a noise, fridge, air conditioning...alas to no avail...standing by the door under the extractor fan the humming noise prevailed. Next morning after a dreadful night's sleep we reported the issue to reception asking for maintenance to fix the noise. Upon returning after our day out ...you've guessed it no fix and still annoying humming noise...early evening we went to reception and basically got fobbed off as there were no rooms to change to being Saturday night. My husband specifically requested the manager was made aware as it really needed sorting. We were also told that someone else had complained recently about the noise in our room. Next morning whilst room 416 was being cleaned I stood in the entrance to the room ...completely silent....so it's NOT a common occurance as one recent review for this hotel mentioned. I am guessing they were fobbed off like they have now tried to do with us. After three terrible nights sleep, (we had to stuff cotton wool in our ears...and I now have a sore ear confimed by my audiologist!) We completely followed their complaints procedure by reportingour issue at the time (twice) and phoning customer relations Upon returning home well within the time permitted..and (despite being told by a member of staff that they no longer guaranteed a good night's sleep!!!! ) we were told that they had fully investigated and there was no case to answer, the staff member completely denied saying they had had a previous complaint about our room...one of us is lying and it's not us!!! Incredibly difficult to complain and to a escalate higher level. Never again
- helenbN3100XI (8/5): Book a table!!! - Only booked for one night. Booked the meal deal(evening meal and breakfast) as we were driving for nearly 4 hours to get there. Thought it would save us having to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night, how wrong was I. Was asked if we had booked a table, said i had booked a meal deal but the website doesn't have an option for booking a table. Couldn't seat us for over an hour. Said sorry we have to be somewhere else in an hour. Ended up having a sandwich from a local supermarket!!!! Not my idea of a two course meal! For future travellers make sure you ring the hotel to book a table even if you pay for a meal deal!!! so your not disappointed. I did get a refund but not the point.
- jacquig0sling (10/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable stay, lovely staff. - Very enjoyable stay, found all staff friendly and welcoming, particularly Kieron who was working in the restaurant in the evening and then again at breakfast the following morning. Kieron was very helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel.
- nickandangelab2025 (10/5): The best Premier Inn we have ever stayed in! - We had an amazing stay in this hotel. This is the best Premier Inn we have ever stayed in. We would especially like to thank Alfie, Kate and Jess for their outstanding customer service.
- keeleyc199 (10/5): Fantastic!! - Had to write this review on how impressed we were as a couple who stayed with friends for one night . 16th Oct 25. The staff were brilliant especially the young lady who was there when we got back after our night out , she went above and beyond, didn't get a name but she served us with drinks at the bar , and then made sure we had plenty of stock tea milk , and found my hubby a hot Chocolate! Bless her she's an asset!.the rooms was clean and comfortable very impressed! . Breakfast was absolutely brilliant we all really enjoyed it great produce and nicely cooked. Well done to all on shift that evening and the morning of the 17th Oct 25. Thankyou to you all. We stayed to see the queen tribute at the theatre seven, they were good ate at the Armoury fab food. Just a short walk to both from the premier inn.
- sandrabR9998QW (6/5): Needs a Clean - Good location, very close to the station and the town centre. I choose the premier plus room which was quite nicely decorated and furnished, a bit dusty in some areas such as around the mini bar fridge. Slightly overpriced I felt at £114 for 1 night. Some parts of the property were very dirty specifically the lifts, area around them and the corridors. Just needed a hoover and a mop. Arriving after 3pm noon Friday I could understand but there was no change the next morning until I left at 12pm. Purchased breakfast which was mediocre however was only £10.99 so this was okay. Overall I didn't feel my stay was value for money, the overall place needs a good clean but the staff I came across were quite friendly. Would try staying somewhere else if needing to visit Shrewsbury in the future.
- lolab438 (8/5): Great staff - Just home from weekend away in Shrewsbury town centre Premier Inn.
Whilst the hotel now is looking a bit dated, carpet away from gripper in rooms, side table missing next to bed so you can't put a cuppa down except on the floor, and a damp/ musty smell in the room as the windows don't open. This is counter balanced by the wonderful staff, who go above and beyond to help customers.
If you are lucky enough to find a space, you will have difficulty getting out of your car. Such narrow spaces. Plus you can only pay for a whole day at £13 regardless.
Great location, fab breakfast and particular mention about Alfie who helped me at check in (think he's normally at a different branch) super star.
- Venture19214204053 (8/5): Great Location and Great Staff - Rooms are very comfortable and had everything needed for a great overnight stay . Need to sound proof the ceiling though to prevent noise from thoughtless guests wearing hobbnail boots getting up early doors.
Please Premier Inn bring back individual pots of yogurt for breakfast as the yogurt trays look most unappealing and unhealthy.
Thank your staff for being helpful for searching for my lost credit card.
- dhY8836ES (10/5): Tracey - Last week I had a unplanned trip to Shrewsbury . One particular lady who was, I believe.named Tracey and works in Shrewsbury s town centre Premier inn made my day made my day bearable .
- itskitty (8/5): Good option for central Shrewsbury - This Premier inn is in a great location in the centre of Shrewsbury. Great for walking to the castle, cathedral, abbey and river. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants. We didn't eat here but were able to utilise the comfy seating on the ground floor to meet and chat as a group. They will store your luggage in a secure room before check in at 1500 and on the day you leave. The premier inn car park was £13 for 24 hours and if you go over that time you need to pay for another 24 hours but there is another car park joined on (above it) which charges £2 per hour so we moved our car there for the last couple of hours.
- traceylP7949WE (10/5): Perfect - Amazing over night stay work a night out with my best friend who I haven’t seen for a little while went out out came back to sleep off the alcohol high recommend
- melissalU7066GN (8/5): Room +meal deal ✔️ - What a breath of fresh air. A clean affordable, hotel, with the meal deal making it excellent value for concert or event goers across the road
Room spacious spotless and quiet. Menu basic but reasonable. Breakfast hot and plenty of if it
But as always it’s the staff. Hardworking but always with a smile. Well done
- rachelbO7445EE (10/5): Great overall experience - Lovely overnight stay at this hotel. Clean and comfortable room with a countryside view. Staff were very helpful and attentive. As the room was ready we were able to check in an hour early without any extra payment-thank you Alfie and Kate. We will definitely stay here again when visiting friends in the area.
- NorthStar28901058632 (10/5): 5star sty - One of the best premier Inn I've stayed in great room lovely shower and the bar not to expensive 5mins walk to Sheffield arena ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Lawyertrave (4/5): Jaded and poor value - We have been to your hotel before. Since then it has become jaded, and the rooms and bathrooms need modernisation and redecoration. The one thing you have done has resulted in air-conditioning being installed, but unfortunately the windows are unopenable. This is claustrophobic , and we had to move from the first room we were offered because it smelled so badly. Also, for a hotel that is designed for travellers by car, it is extremely surprising that there is no facility for charging electric cars. In our view the hotel no longer represents value for money, and we will not be staying there again.
- carlwW6225HE (10/5): The best staff at any Premier inn we've ever been too - We've stayed at many premier inn in the last 15yrs. But this beats the lot, the reception guy was extremely welcoming and was so quick at sorting out our room to stay
We opted for meal deal upgrade he asked what time we said 5pm.. We walked in to dining room nothing was too much trouble for the young lady serving us. The food choice maybe could of been a little better, Nachos aren't the best.
But it was quick considering they started to get fuller quickly. As everyone like is was there was Katy Perry live at the arena here.
The room gets warm, but stick the air con on and it soon gets cool again
Next morning breakfast was pretty much the same, swift, attentive and great food
I told the staff at reception as we left just how good they are. I've written to the ceo many times of how crap Premier inn can be. But this hotel is a one off, and should be the blueprint for all
future Premier inn staff
Take a bow Premier Inn Sheffield Arena👏👏👏
- rileyj826 (8/5): Quick 1 night stay very refreshing - Alfie was really lovely at the front desk very welcoming and helpful all round a very amazing member of staff who helps in every way
- Trip698560 (10/5): Great Service as usual - Great service room was great and bed very comfortable. We always book meal deal definitely value for money and they considered my mobility issues and gave me a room on the ground floor with a shower. If anything but only a small thing it would be nice to have had streaming channels on the TV or be able to cast my phone to the TV but not a major issue. We have stayed here 4 times this year and wouldn't stay anywhere else for concerts at the arena
- annettetP7611FP (10/5): Laugh a minute weekend away - Excellent rapport with managers Fri eve ?Ben ? & Caitlin Sat & Sun & Kieran all 3 days. All worked really hard for group of 60, but nothing too much trouble. Had a great time. Made a working weekend very enjoyable, and rememberable. More than happy to stop here again.
- edandsuet (4/5): No wifi or mobile signal spoiled a nice break. - Great Premier Inn for everything except the wi-fi and mobile signal. Room clean and quiet. Adjoining pub very good. But would not stay here again as unable to get any wifi or any mobile signal so couldn't look at local maps, find out about local attractions, plan where to go etc. Had to get in car, drive a short way, find somewhere to stop, etc. just to be able to do these simple things. Totally unacceptable in 2025.
- DayTrip770337 (6/5): Poor service closed 2 hours earlier than stated and were hoovering around us. - Nice hotel bad restaurant. Poor service closed 2 hours earlier than stated and were hoovering around us. No ev charging.
- F4452EKoliverr (10/5): Busted vs mcfly - The staff came across great so helpful and the room was amazing with a coffee and tea hamper with it and the sleep was the best I ever had
- 751ritay (10/5): Atrending a friends wedding Shrewsbury on Saturday - Excellent hotel good night sleep . Restaurant great for evening meal and breakfast . Staff every help getting an iron and board organised
- lisaartley123 (10/5): Fantastic room - Really enjoyed our stay, got upgraded to a better room. Room was clean and cosy with free chocolate and water..........
- paulsE7697HD (10/5): Quiet and relaxing two night stay! - We had a two night stay here, 12 - 14 September, including meals, breakfast and dinner. We arrived early, were able to book the van in the carpark and then went for an area explore.
The room was large and clean. very quiet!
The food was great, same chef all three days, who did a great job. Dinner was very relaxing and quiet, a big thank you to Kieran who looked after us the two nights,
Only one slight niggle the shower head leaked a lot and needs replacing, Rm2.
Will stay here again when in the area.
- Z2887QPhelena (10/5): Best Premier inn experience so far - Best Premier Inn stay by far- and we use them a lot!
Right from a smiling, friendly greeting on arrival to leaving at the end of our stay we have nothing but the highest praise for all the staff we encountered.
During the first night it became apparent that there was a problem with our toilet. We reported the issue to reception in the morning and were assured that it would be dealt with whilst we were out, and if it wasn’t possible to rectify the issue then we would be moved. Unfortunately it couldn’t be sorted so we were indeed moved- to a room just across the corridor to minimise the hassle of moving.
We were also offered complimentary breakfasts by way of an apology.
Karen and Alfie provided a wonderful breakfast experience- beautiful cooked breakfast ( with not a hint of grease), piping hot and well presented. The Continental breakfast was well stocked and again well presented. Alfie was polite, happy and provided a great service- again with a smile.
We can’t praise the staff, and the pride they obviously take in their work, highly enough. We will definitely visit again!
6* at least!!!
- seanfK5002CK (10/5): Business Stay - Small but great hotel. I was greeted by both Daisy and Kateryna who were very welcoming with big smiles on their faces, very polite and nothing too much trouble. Both are a credit to the company.
Easy check in and easy to book both evening meal and breakfast at a time that’s suit myself.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- tonytE6704IO (10/5): Great stay - Just had a lovely 2 day stay for bank holiday in August, big thank you to Mandy , Connor , Lauren, carlene the chef and Tracey and a special thank you to a young Samantha and her older sister becca. Tony T
- 463esert (10/5): very good accommodation - We stayed for 2 nights for a long weekend to visit places in Peak District. Our stay was very comfy, the room was clean, silent and large enough for 3 of us. 3£ parking for a night was really nice which can be done on a kiosk panel in the reception easily. The stuff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast is absolutely worth to book rather than wondering around to find a place to eat, I think.
- garyhK5798WO (2/5): Rip off Britain strikes again. - This hotel has now started charging for parking. This is blatant profiteering and is a sad reflection of todays society. The hotel has the cheek to advertise this as a special discount for guests of only £3 per day. For 25 years the parking at this hotel has been free. The carpark is now fully kitted out with multiple ANPR cameras and a full complement of bright green signs visible from all angles. So beware, the Horizons parking shareholders will want your money.
- K467VVgemmas (10/5): I would highly recommend staying here - Lovely premier inn to stay. We went as a large family of 16 for a family wedding and stayed here for two nights. It t was a lovely place to stay ,clean great staff and lovely food. Would stay again .
- melaniekX7937TV (10/5): Outstanding! - We had an amazing time, friendly, helpful staff and great food options in on site restaurant, beautifully scenic and very peaceful, easy check in and out, will definitely be booking again in December.
- Mobile734697 (10/5): Accommodating staff, so helpful - A small Premier Inn with amazing staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help my dad who had accessibility needs.
- sarahhJ476QZ (8/5): Quiet hotel north of Shrewsbury - We had a night here after a family event in the area.
The room was up to usual standard but could not open window which was a shame.
There is a pub next door - we did not eat here in the evening but had breakfast in the morning - usual Premier Inn breakfast. There is nothing else nearby.
- Paul-colette1234 (8/5): Wonderful hotel. Noisy AC - Great place to stay, just outside Shrewsbury. Great views & friendly staff. Pub next door very good and agin friendly happy staff.
Parking is easy, plenty of space.
Only one is the A/C
Fan that loud you could not hear the tv!
Switched off automatically at 11AM
We were woken at 7AM when the fan was turned on automatically again.
AC control on wall does nothing. It’s all controlled by reception.
Great Premier Inn but the fan in room 304 needs servicing. Reported to reception. they did a hard reset, but that failed as I think they knew it would.
- Roam562939 (8/5): Good but disappointed - The Premier Inn was of the high standard that we would expect.
However we were disappointed with the associated pub/restaurant which closed early at 10pm on both the Thursday and Friday we were there. On both occasions ourselves and others were still drinking and other people came in and were told the pub was closing so could not be served. We have since been informed the pub reserves the right to close early at their discretion. We feel this needs to be made clearer to people before they book this Premier Inn.
- vcklv (2/5): Stay away! - This hotel is disgusting! The room
Smelt of sewers! The bathroom was full of mould! The carpets were sticky! Staff were rude and customer services don’t care! Paid £190 for pure filth
