Guest Reviews
- joshcW9545LC (10/5): Fantastic experience - Lovely Team - Absolutely wonderful service and experience from start to finish, Jordan was very helpful with my enquiry about charging in the car park. Professional and friendly as well were all the staff. Jasmine, Jayne and Paula. All the team went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. I really enjoyed the breakfast and I'd look forward to coming again if I'm up here working.
- 424philippag (10/5): Extremely helpful staff - The staff were extremely kind and went the extra mile when we needed help - thank you. Comfortable bed, powerful shower and delicous porrige and fresh fruit salad for breakfast.
- ScareyClott (6/5): Not a good night's sleep. - We have stayed at Premier Inns all over the UK. This was the first time that we were kept awake during the night by excessive noise. It was impossible to tell whether the crowd of voices and drum&bass music was coming from outside or inside the hotel but it was still going strong after 3am.
Hotel very clean, staff helpful at check-in.
- MarkyP264 (8/5): Where's The Staff At? - I need an overnight stop whilst working in the area, I also added an early check in to my room.
I found the hotel easily and also parked easily, loads of spaces and also some electric charging bays (bonus!). I had to wait a while to check in, which was frustrating as I wanted to check in and get some rest before work.
The room itself was typical Premier Inn fare, i.e. roomy, clean and comfortable.
Checking out also took a while, but all in all it was a good stay in a decent Premier Inn.
- MummyMac79 (2/5): Pretty terrible :( - This was definitely the worst Premier Inn I’ve ever stayed in. The whole hotel had a smell about it and when I opened my room door the room smelt really bad, like a wet, dirty smell.
The toilet came away from the floor and the seal was broken and you could see it all soaking wet and mouldy looking.
The windows were soaking wet too so there must be a ventilation problem. This is possibly a known complaint as fans were left in the rooms?
The room had very obviously not been cleaned before arrival as there were faeces on the toilet bowl and marks up the wall, along where the toilet roll is.
When I turned on the bath tap lots of black stuff came out into the bath and some kept hanging out of the tap.
The room had lots of clumps of dust, especially along the top of the bed where my child was to sleep.
The chair was filthy and covered in stains and even the towels hung in the bathroom were stained. Quite a stained carpet too.
From reading other reviews I then realised that many other people had a similar experience.
We had booked 2 rooms and the other smelled so strongly of a deep heat type smell. It also had a lot of dust clumps but it was in better condition than the first room.
Also none of the children’s tv channels seemed to work.
I took photos of most things but unfortunately I didn’t find out until leaving that the pillows in the original room had blood stains on them, or I would have taken photos of that.
My stepson slept there and only discovered it before checking out, my little boy would have been sleeping there if we hadn’t swapped rooms.
Also the girl who checked us in wasn’t very friendly at all, which isn’t great for a first impression.
I stay in Premier Inns a lot and I was really shocked at how bad this one was, especially with it being in St Andrews, I thought it might have had a high standard. Very disappointing sadly :(
I don’t really ever write reviews but I had to for this stay as it was very poor :(
- heamars2004 (10/5): Another great stay at Premier Inn - Another good stay at Premier Inn. The quality across the Premier Inn Estate is consistent. The St Andrews Hotel was just as I had expected.
- J6903MNjacquib (10/5): Friendliest Ever Staff - From reception to kitchen staff were all so friendly, best ever in Premier Inn. Special shout out to Jayne, Lou, Paula, Holly, Gordon, Ash and Will
- aaroncS1206BM (4/5): Feel robbed - Location is good , room very dated , no atmosphere in restaurants for breakfast or dinner and food is very plane not worth the money. The rooms arnt sound proof you can hear conversations from the rooms next door and foot prints from the floor above also its very annoy when someone’s phone alarm is going off on the floor above and it’s vibrating and wakens you at 6am !! Also WiFi and signal from the hotel isn’t great can’t even load a Facebook video and thier “ultimate WiFi” costs a 5er best booking a different hotel for a few extra pounds .
- sarahgH828XT (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable Premier Plus room in this city centre hotel. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was extremely quiet and we had a really good sleep. Great location with car park very close. There’s no restaurant there at the moment but that’s not really a problem as there are many many places to eat in St Albans. Value for money and very comfortable.
- alanwH3759KI (4/5): Not great. - We booked this premiere inn hotel as a convenient 1 night stay for a family party in St Albans. When we arrived the restaurant, bar and toilets were closed for refurbishment, of which we were not informed, to add to this major disappointment, there is a night club next door which our room was next too, very noisy, with people outside smoking and shouting, therefore no sleep until after 3.00 am. Will definitely not be staying there again.
- Maps55993097712 (10/5): Amazing staff - What astonishingly friendly, courteous staff. From plasters for our grandchild to squeezing us in when we had forgotten to book a meal.
- Fatbadger247 (4/5): Poor for a Premier Inn - Booked this hotel as the endpoint of a 70 mile ultramarathon, arroving on foot knowing I'd have a decent sized cooked breakfast the morning after, to recover.
The website said breakfast was available.
The "reminder" emails in the run-up to our stay suggested we book breakfast.
Got downstairs in the morning, ravenous.
To be told - no breakfast due to refurbishment. And we should have had an email - we definitely didn't (and neither had other guests). Just a few pastries in the corner of reception. Gutted is an understatement.
The desk had been removed from the room, so nowhere to put stuff other than a small coffee table, and the floor.
Room overlooked a nightclub and we could hear the thumping bass at night.
Staff never responded to the two emails I sent in the runup to our stay.
All in all, poor, way below expectations for a Premier Inn.
- nigelp875 (6/5): Not improved by room refurbishment. - The ground floor was closed so no breakfast or meals available (no notice given on booking)
There was one set of towels in the room despite being booked for 2 - no phone so had to go to reception to ask for towels in person.
Room seems to have been refurbished, but has no safe and desk has been removed leaving power sockets in the air, with no place for devices to be stored or placed for charging except on bedside tables. Clean room and bathroom with extra bed so good value overall
- D5001DZadeleg (10/5): The best night - Just perfect ,lovely staff ,easy check in clean room and amazing breakfast amd breakfast staff, so welcoming and nothing too much , especially holly, matty and breakfast lady ,thoroughly enjoyed
- Griselda411 (4/5): Standards have slipped - Booked a premier room but unfortunately the fridge not working, the duvet cover had black stains, a hand towel and bath towel only for two people, stained carpet and chipped furniture, smelly damp and stuffy room (windows don’t open). Complained to reception and given another room and ok fridge worked and bedding was clean but all else was same as first room unfortunately
- S7963CCalanr (10/5): Birthday visit treat - Nahal and Aman at the St Albans city hotel were absolutely exceptional with us during our stay. Nahal overheard that it was my daughter’s 13th birthday and arranged brought a chocolate brownie and a birthday badge to our table and presented it. They were both brilliant and I hope they can be recognised for there amazing service they made the whole family’s day.
- aspatriamorgan2016 (6/5): Check where your room is against the locality of the night club only yards away. - This hotel is based 5 yards away from the Veeda night club which operates Friday and Saturday's from 11 p.m antil 4 a.m. On the Friday night we were wakened at 11.30 p.m with people standing outside with their drinks shouting , then the beat of the music continued until 4 a.m. Needless to say we had no sleep .This may not be a problem for some, but it was for us. We asked to be moved for the Saturday night which was no problem. You can see how close the club is to the hotel when you book in. Everything else was fine for our stay.
- keith (10/5): - Clean, comfortable and quiet stay. Help staff.
- Loveabitofsunshine (4/5): Poor customer service and food - Staff need training on customer service and listening skills. Upon arrival at the entrance to the restaurant a member of staff shouted from behind the bar rather than him taking the time to walk over. He shouted ‘what do you want’ - the response was ‘food’!
Poor food and numerous complaints in the restaurant, including incorrect food being served even though the requirements were reiterated more than once.
If you have to stay here don’t bother with the restaurant.
- leoniej997 (4/5): Avoid! Poor premier inn stay - Location said there was parking however no parking on arrival, have to pay in an NCP car park.
No clear understanding of what has been booked per guest and confusion over meals etc.
Majority of the staff haven’t a clue what they are doing.
The chef was a trainee and all food came out fumbled, had to send food back multiple times due to the wrong things being sent out.
Breakfast selection was poor, majority of the unlimited breakfast wasn’t available as there was none cooked throughout the breakfast times.
Rooms smelt damp on entering them, downstairs toilet also very damp smelling and mould in the toilet areas.
There was a lot of people unhappy with their food during the evening meal time and the atmosphere felt very hostile.
Would not recommend staying here, was a shame.
- emilymT7831QN (10/5): Great stay! - Lovely stay! It was very clean and the bed was very comfy. The location is brilliant and would definitely go back to this hotel.
- W9144NGtinaw (10/5): Lovely hotel - We really enjoyed our stay ,Emma the manager was very friendly and accommodating,we will return. Very nice breakfast ,thank you
- smiffy25_4 (10/5): Family party - Nice hotel , room clean and tidy, a good location for a night out in St Albans, all you can eat breakfast, would stay there again
- Travel63972475697 (10/5): Great Stay - Enjoyed our stay at St Albans, staff were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble! Nice to see the hotel being renovated
- Mishys1190 (10/5): Top stay - Excellent hotel, rooms incredibly clean, staff very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, would come again when I’m in the area
- kathryntA2010BI (2/5): Poor cleanliness and not value for money - Unfortunately this hotel was a massive let down! The room cost £280 for the night for a premium room, for just 1 adult. When inside the room, there was a couple of disgusting stains on the carpet and walls on the bedroom. This was completely unexpected, especially as this was a premium room. Although the staff were quite pleasant, this hotel is not value for money. I definitely recommend seeing if you can get a nice room in one of the other local hotels, as they can be almost the same price, and much better value for money.
This was such a shame, as premier inns are normally good value for money and quite a decent stay. I would avoid this one , or have low expectations upon arrival.
- Companion00341182842 (10/5): great stay - the room was very clean and super big! all the staff were very nice and friendly no complaints! always love a premier inn and this is in a great location
- kemmih2025 (4/5): Rudeness - There was a mix up with the rooms where we got a 3 bed room but booked a 4 bed room
Breakfast was okay at first but the next morning half of the food wasnt there and barely any staff
- markbR5759GP (4/5): Poor cleanings and maintenance - Room smelled badly of dirty water or cleaning materials spilt into the carpet. The toilet had poo stains. Stains on the side of the bath that looked like dried blood. Skirting boards had a thick layer of fluff on them. The thermostat was loose on the wall. The fridge had no shelves or door restraints. There was no complimentary chocolate, bottled water, tea or coffee. I checked the sheets of room 218 because I didn't trust the cleaning team at this stage.
The restaurant also had similar smell. The reception was slow, staff showing poor computer skills and the system was slow.
Fingerprint stain on a knife and dried food on a fork. Only 2 members of staff doing reception and restaurant. One seemed completely bewildered. We waited 50 minutes for our meal. We ate out with the hotel after the first night.
I complained and toilet dealt with and room sprayed. Came back next day at 5 pm after a day out and room smelled again.
Wednesday morning fridge stopped working on 2nd day and we lost 2 bottles of milk.
Complained at reception to ask for another room. Transferred next door to 220 and had a promise of a discount. Keys didn't work, door for 220 had to be reprogrammed. New room had complimentary chocolate and water. The fridge had shelves and door rails and full toilet roll.
I AM WAITING FOR A REFUND.
- worldgirl87 (10/5): Comfortable stay - Excellent and comfortable stay before a day out at alton towers. Slept very well. Room was clean and plenty towels . Tea and coffee available. Breakfast was very good with plenty choice. Staff were friendly and helpful at checkin.
- susantU2340PO (2/5): Bad experience - I had to move in as there was work being done in the flats where I live, I arrived 12th October, there was one seat in the room which was badly marked on the seat so could not use it but that was the only seat in the room so it was very uncomfortable to have to sit on the bed to watch TV.
On the Friday i had to ask reception if we could have some clean towels and the room cleaned as it had not been touched all week, when I arrived back in the Saturday evening the room had not been touched and there was no clean towels either.
I will not stop in another premier inn again as I think this is not good enough.
- vicsclassicautos (2/5): Not worth the money - This was the most expensive premier inn I have ever paid .
It was over £150 a night.
The classic bike show was on at stafford and the location was good however if I had known I was going to stay at faulty towers I would have rather booked elsewhere and traveled further.
The toilet seat was broken and there was no aircon ...the window only opened about 6 inches and most of the staff miserable .
The hotel looked like a building site and the restaurant was shut .
For the inconvenience I was offered a very very poor takeaway breakfast which never arrived the first morning and the second morning it was there but not worth having.
Complained and still waiting for a partial refund of £80
- A215UTandyk (8/5): Peaceful location - Good sleep and good location, Breakfast good but not replenished when options used,Also Adjoining pub for food in the daytime the shire horse was expensive .
- kellylouisew897 (10/5): Clean & comfortable night away - Had an amazing stay here last weekend in thier newly refurbished rooms, staff were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
- Vikki280493 (10/5): Great stay :-) - Great place to stay, nice and central, refurb looks brilliant it has really freshened up the place and staff are very friendly, would recommend a stay here!
- Fymruk (10/5): Couples weekend stay - We stayed here last weekend, great location, newly refurbished room which was clean and spacious and the staff were polite, friendly and welcoming!
Would highly recommend if you need to stay in this area ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
- hayleyl710 (4/5): Renovation made stay not great - Unfortunately this was being renovated and therefore the experience wasn’t as good as previous premier inns. We were not made aware of the renovations until we checked in. The floor being renovated was the floor we were on which was not appropriate or safe to stay on this floor. Very disappointed stay from a chain I like to use regularly.
- billsaunders (2/5): Check the schedule for the night club opposite the hotel before booking...... - This hotel would be fine if a night club (Club Veeda) was not situated immediately in front of the building.
It is open Thursdays to Sundays from 1030pm to 0330am, and makes sleep impossible if your room is at the front of the hotel.
As with many other reviewers we a) had a sleepless night, and b) were refused compensation under Premier Inns Good Night's Sleep guarantee as the source of the noise was not from the hotels premises. Not done with good grace either.
We argued that at the very least we should have been advised of the problem so that we could book elsewhere. That clearly is not part of their business plan.
We visit St Albans frequently for family reasons, and have avoided staying at this hotel since, even though in many ways it would be the most convenient for us.
- pomme1uk (10/5): Hurricane - Had a great experience here, did have an issue with the room, but when we approached the friendly staff we were quickly and professionally dealt with, and offered a new room.
All the staff were great, especially on the Tuesday morning, despite being late down to breakfast we were looked after by the wonderful Paula (chef), Jayne, Tash, and Jord. Nothing was too much trouble.
Will definitely stay again.
Thanks!
- 857stepheng (6/5): Don't have Room 102... - We always stay at the Hurricane Hotel to break the journey when we come back down from visiting my elderly Mother in Lancashire, so we have stayed a few times now. We often joke that we have to walk miles to our room as it is normally at the far end of the building. Not this time though... We were in room 102 which is on the first floor directly above reception and opposite the door to the lift. So we had constant banging noises from the doors (not loud, just irritating and disturbing) throughout the night (even in the early hours of the morning). This was a disappointment as 99 times out of 100 we always have a great stay at Premier Inns. I shall just remember to ask for a room away from the reception area next time we stay.
The guest(s) in the room above must not have got their allotted steps in for that particular day as they were constantly pacing up and down the room! (Not that the hotel is responsible for this issue.)
- iangQ6171RV (10/5): Bikers Delight - access all routes - Clean and tidy, with welcoming and helpful staff. Plenty of parking though no specialised for motorcycles. Room was spot on, large, well appointed warm, quiet, and clean. Breakfast was well organised and plentiful.
- A1712SNrichardk (10/5): Acknowledgement to the Chef (Will) - We had a great stay as usual and I wanted to write that the Chef (Will), was fantastic. As I am a plant based eater. Will always ensured that I was well catered for.
So a big thank you !
- suzanneo413 (10/5): Helpful,m & approachable staff, modern amenities, nice spaces! - Stated different premier is in the UK and this is by far my favorite. I have found most of the staff consistently approachable, professional, and helpful. It’s also very clean hotel, well designed with all the modern amenities. The restaurant is really nice - and clean.
I’ve been here twice now, a year apart — last summer and just this past week. Tara at the front desk was incredibly helpful both times!
- Wander314258 (10/5): Choice hotel for easy visit to St Andrews - Can’t fault the location, fresh clean attractive and functional hotel with good carpark and 15min easy walk to town and then a little farther to the golf courses. All staff friendly, welcoming and nothing too much trouble. We had a three night stay to visit son at Uni (25 min walk) and just did the touristy bits with ease. Had breakfast on two mornings and found both the continental or full breakfast choices to be of excellent range and quality. Accepting that St Andrews is popular in terms of accommodation, overall the price we paid was fair with Saturday being the premium night. Had a general look around when in the area to plan our next visit and expect to return to this hotel
- E5724XUdavida (2/5): Utterly horrendous and vastly overpriced - The hotel was unbearably hot and as none of the windows could be opened, the whole place smelt musty and stale. Aircon in the bedroom stank of stagnant water so wasn't usable, which made sleeping nigh on impossible due to the heat. The bedroom and bathroom smelt really unpleasant, a mix of stale cigarettes and cleaning chemicals. The carpets everywhere were stained and dirty, and didn't look like they'd been vacuumed for a long time. The only positive was that the reception staff were lovely. Overall, a very expensive disappointment that marred our long weekend in St Andrews. We won't be staying there again.
- maM7733IF (10/5): best premier inn in the UK - the friendliest staff team i have ever experienced and it made my teams 3 days stay perfect, they were so professional and helpful a real credit to their organisation - clone the team and put them in hotels throughout the UK as they could all learn from them we wish them all well and will stay there again when we return on our next business trip to the area perfect!!
- kellymarieo2025 (10/5): Cosy and friendly - Offers a great location at a reasonable price.
The hotel overall is clean and cosy. Staff are approachable and friendly and the food was nice.
- Nancy (6/5): Let’s see - Under renovation so not fond of exposed wires, etc.
- 672robbieb (10/5): Fantastic breakfast - Went for breakfast with family and had great selection of the cooked favourites along with the finest continental choices. Customer service was fantastic, big thanks to Teresa who seated us and took the time to show us where everything was and checked back on our table and took some empty plates away. She also chatted to other customers and was just in general very polite! Big asset to the team at this hotel. Keep up the good work.
- H8022TEmarkf (10/5): Lovely stay - What a lovely start to my holiday, hotel was clean and well managed and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was very tasty, hot and cooked beautifully.
Thanks
Mark
- 438lailai (10/5): Happy - Maryam at the reception Extremely friendly and helpful and really iked the breakfast
It was good overall stay was comfortable
- 23jennieb (10/5): Excellent service - Can not praise the wonderful Maryam enough. Helped this weary traveller out with an IT problem that helped him on his way on a trip from Penzance to Inverness.
- jamessN946VK (10/5): Good customer service - Martin was kind and cheerful. Tom gave me an extra fan to cool my room. The room on the ground floor is cooler. Checkin was strictly after 3pm. The building was quiet.
- MT1045 (10/5): The Business Trip at Premier Inn Hurricane North Stafford - Maryam at the reception was fantastic! She was warm, welcoming, and made a great first impression. Excellent service!
- I2272FClucym (10/5): Good location - We enjoyed our stay at the premier inn. Comfortable beds and very tasty breakfast. We were concerned about our room facing a busy main road but we heard zero noise. Short walk into the main town but is also on the bus route if you do not wish to walk. Our second stay here we would come back. More affordable than most of the other hotels we considered.
- jepa320 (8/5): Comfortable stay, great staff. - Comfortable hotel with a good bed, room was air conditioned. M and S next door as well. A 20 mins walk to town though. A high point was the morning manager, Grant Junior. He was polite, friendly and gave me a free coffee.
- J1388EKhelenm (10/5): Excellent s5aff and Inn - I had accessible room during my stay with walkin shower and it was all excellent!
Staff very good and nothing was any trouble right down to getting us a taxi one evening!
Rate staff abd this premier inn 10/10
Also local free phone taxies called CLUB very good reliable and reasonable
We will be back!!
- WeeScot (2/5): Hot hot hot - My wife and I have stayed at this hotel before and loved it. The location is great with free parking, Aldi & M&S next door plus easily walkable into St Andrews centre in 15-20 mins. We stayed one night in August and it was a poor experience. The air con in the hotel was not working meaning that the room was very hot with no way to open any windows. No prior warning when checking in with only a standing fan in the room which was useless. We had a terrible nights sleep as the room was simply too hot and musky due to lack of any free flowing air. Writing this review to warn other travellers to avoid the same experience.
- Sherpa380816 (8/5): Ok but could be better. - Stayed here for one night with my kids.
Pros: On-site parking, good location, comfy beds, nice breakfast
Cons: bathroom fan was broken, wi-fi didn’t work, lots of dust in room (dead spider on the carpet) and also on the windows at breakfast.
Got the room at a cheaper rate and had hoped to book a second night, but price had almost doubled. Suited our needs but could be better.
- 271hazell (10/5): Great hotel, made all the better by their staff. - The hotel was great, plenty of parking. Just next to M&S and Aldi. The Room, Bed etc were great but better Air Con wouldn't go amiss.
The thing that made the hotel stand out from any other was definitely the staff. The Reception, Restaurant and Chef were all amazing. Very friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough. We would definitely stay again. 🤩🤩🤩
- sitaylor1 (10/5): Exactly what you expect from Premier Inn - Although the prices are noticeably higher than some other Premier Inns the rooms are exactly what you expect from Premier Inn. The location is good with adequate free parking and just a 20 minute walk into St Andrews centre.
