Guest Reviews
- 929philipt (10/5): Smile at reception - Have stayed in this hotel for over a month for work now and every time I check in Lou is on reception with a smile and always there to help no matter what.
Free parking and good lighting around car park with no height restrictions.
Good food in the restaurant.
The rooms are clean and tidy.
Very quiet hotel.
- K1594LHbrianl (10/5): A great stay away, friendly staff and freshly cooked food - A very pleasant stay, a good location and well looked after rooms, staff were always on hand and friendly, Becky, Lou and Megan were there on check in, very warm and welcoming, a very polite and friendly atmosphere, made you feel like a guest not an inconvenience, like some other hotels do, I couldn't fault them in any way, great customer service,
A very good experience all around, from check in to check out, there was always someone on hand should you need anything,
The rooms were quiet and comfortable, the food was freshly cooked, some great staff present during my stay, I had no issues and would happily stay again
- A9220Queenie (10/5): Uttoxeter never disappoints - Had a wonderful nights stay at Uttoxeter! Never disappoints! Restaurant all brand new and looking fabulous although it’s a lot smaller than the table table restaurant! My room was fresh and very clean as always! Staff were lovely! See you next year 😊
- maureenmJ4324IM (10/5): No problem staying here - Comments on here about this hotel are not what we found. On arrival a pleasant young man greeted us. We had a plus room. It was very good. What you would expect from a plus room, fridge, full tea/coffee facilities, air conditioning working fine, bedding and bed excellent, lovely lighting and lovely shower room. There a building very close by, The Social, We had an up to standard breakfast and went back in the evening for a nice meal and a drink. The staff are lovely. They were under staffed and work very hard but remained very pleasant. I would recommend anybody to stay there.
- geoffe597 (2/5): Avoid as you get the police called if you complain - Terrible customer service.
When i complained the duty Manger called the police.
Unable to organise the restaurant, delays for everything. Originally we thought it was his first day but when we found out he was a manager we were shocked at his inability to do anything.
Poor quality of food.
- D7250ZLderekd (10/5): good place to stay after a long day at Alton Towers Scarefest - What more can you ask for from a visit. The beds were clean and comfortable , room was tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with all you can eat for a good price. Services next door meant you could fill up or buy fast food or snacks.
- beccig79 (2/5): Awful nights sleep! - The website should pre warn guests that the hotel was undergoing a refurbishment, however this should not affect stock levels! We ate at 545pm, so not exactly late and they had No draught beer, No Pip apple juice, No banoffee cheesecake, No bananas for the childs panckakes! And the Mobile card reader was not working! I did inform the lady on reception of our dissatisfaction, which she replied 'let me know if I can help with anything!'
We had also paid a premium price to stay here due to it being half term and this hotel was one of the worst experiences to date and we stay at 2-3 Premier Inn's every year!
Rooms (324) are in desperate need of modernisation and better soundproofing (the lady on reception said this block was newer than the other building! I wasn't convinced as the other block had the purple lights in their rooms which I thought was an indication they were premium plus rooms). Doors slamming everytime someone comes and goes from their room was horrendous. We asked reception for some ear plugs but she couldn't find any! The Aircon made gurgling noises all night AND kept switching OFF EVERY 90mins which woke me up, as I become hot! And had to get out of bed 4/5 times during the night to turn it back on! Other Premier Inn (Honiton, Worthing etc) aircon systems run all the time, especially for the cost one pays for the room, this should be standard and not penny pinching! Or at least add a timer to the systems during the evening (8pm-8am) that does not switch off...
- I3024FBlizw (2/5): Room good, restaurant awful - Good location, and room was standard for a Premier Inn. Service in the restaurant was poor. We waited almost 1.5 hours for 3 main dishes, and 2 of the meals were missing the fries as advertised and were lmost inedible. When I raised this, I was offered dessert for free - not much use when you've done the meal deal. They closed the kitchen before our dessert order was taken. We did get dessert though. We heard at least 3 others tables complaining, with 2 families leaving and heading somewhere else to eat. Would stay here again, but eat elsewhere.
- Flyer828104 (2/5): TitleBreach of Trust: Staff Promised to Cancel Fine, Then Abandoned Me (EV Charging Issue at UTTOXETER) - Date of Incident/Visit: 11th August
Location: Premier Inn Uttoxeter
Rating (Suggested): 1/5 Stars (Due to staff failure and predatory parking)
I visited this Premier Inn Uttoxeter location with the intention of using the electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, and the resulting experience—specifically the staff's actions—was appalling.
The Initial Parking Error and Staff Guarantee:
First Entry (15 mins): I initially entered the car park and spent approximately 15 minutes attempting to operate the charging machine, which was confusing and potentially faulty. I was unable to start a charge or register my car, so I drove out. This short dwell time was immediately captured by the ANPR camera system.
Contacting Reception: I then went inside to the reception desk. I explained my failed attempt and the receptionist gave me instructions, confirming I needed a specific app that I wasn't aware of.
The Promise: Crucially, I mentioned the time already spent in the car park. The receptionist explicitly told me not to worry about the time already logged, assuring me that as long as I was charging, I had 90 minutes of free parking. She then added: "If there's any problem, contact us and we will sort it."
Second Entry: Trusting this guarantee, I went back out, successfully initiated a charge (for about half an hour), and left.
The Subsequent Breach of Trust:
A few days later, I received a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) from the enforcement company (likely Horizon Parking) for the first 15-minute entry, as the ANPR system had flagged the initial short stay as non-compliant.
When I contacted the hotel again, citing the promise made by the receptionist, the staff or manager I spoke to refused to honor their colleague's guarantee. I was met with complete indifference and told that the matter was "out of their hands," completely backtracking on the assurance that "we will sort it."
Conclusion: A Warning to All Customers
This is not just a poor service issue; it is a breach of trust. I acted on the explicit instruction and guarantee of a Premier Inn employee, which was then dismissed and denied by the hotel when I needed their promised assistance.
Premier Inn is complicit in allowing this predatory parking enforcement to operate on its property and then actively abandons customers who are caught by it, even when their own staff are responsible for the misinformation. Potential customers should be warned: do not rely on any verbal promises from staff regarding the car park, as the hotel will not back them up. £100 FINE 🙃
- victoriagB7189MO (4/5): Terrible customer service - Room was fine (although found a hair clip in the middle of the carpet and a plaster on the bathroom floor so not convinced the hoovering was top notch! However when we checked in they failed to tell us we needed to pre-book breakfast. We had driven 3.5 hours and when we went to the restaurant for dinner we were told we should have pre-booked dinner as it is now a third of the size due to renovation. It was then that we found out we should have also pre-booked breakfast for the next morning. We went back to reception and got a mumbled apology and ‘you should have received an email’. Terrible customer service. They couldn’t care less. Also there was no WiFi!
- megg961 (10/5): Splendid!! - Apart from the lorry park next door being a bit of an eyesore, everything about our stay was fabulous.
I would like to suggest a weather proof cover of some kind for the disability lift outside as when it's raining you get soaked standing there as it very slowly takes you up.
Otherwise I can't fault the place!
- stephaniesK4491TW (8/5): Nice stay - The hotel was what u expect from a premier inn..checkin was good ..Parkin was plentiful ..food was nice we jus had the breakfast ..room was ok bu as a family room was a lil cramped if im honest me an my daughter an 2 grandchildren bu overall the room was very clean
- emmadE4527IO (10/5): Great! - Stayed here with my partner, easy parking, great room and comfy bed!
Shower has strong pressure and super clean! Great value for money for a quick stay
- Brenton1960 (10/5): Great staff - Stayed on the 11th Sept for our visit to the horse racing. I have to use a mobility scooter and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful even lending my wife an umbrella due to the constant showers.
The staff there are a credit to the Premier inn chain
- N4830DFvictoriam (2/5): Damp,damp,damp! Health hazard! - Awful experience avoid!
Upon arrival the place was a building site,it was only for one night so we could bear with it.
However going into our room it smelt damp
I opened the window to let some air in
The bed sheets felt damp
We left our belongings as were meeting family for the afternoon/evening
On going back to the room thd sheets were still damp
We were given fresh, which to begin with were dry, then became damp in the room (we also had ro put them on ourselves)
Told all rooms were full
We left as couldn't sleep there
My husband has asthma so damp is a no no!!
- melsimcoe (8/5): Good night sleep - Friendly welcoming staff, quick check in. There was no restaurant so used the Dapple Gray a 10 minute walk, which served lovely food at reasonable prices. There is also a burger king, subway, Greg's and Asda express next door. You were given a free take away breakfast of muffins, pastries, tea, coffee etc. I asked for extra duvet but unfortunately didn't get one. The rooms were big, had air-conditioning, comfortable beds, big towels, powerful shower with shower gel etc. We stayed to go alton towers about 10 miles and it took about 20 minutes if you leave about 8am don't leave much later as you will be stuck in 40 minute to an hour traffic on top of the journey time
I would stay here again.
- 158kerrm (10/5): Very comfortable premier plus rooms - Very comfortable stay and I am now a premier plus convert. We had a late night issue that was promptly solved by Becky. Had a wonderful stay thank you!
- jackbN8561WM (10/5): Friendly and helpful staff - Had another wonderful stay, even though the restaurant is undergoing upgrades the staff are really friendly and helpful with advice on the best places to go for a meal during these works, the rooms are spot on as usual, very clean and quite. A special mention for Becky on reception for taking the time to have a chat and make you feel like a person not just a customer/stranger like some of the places I’ve stayed at, can’t recommend this place enough, I have stayed here many times and it never disappoints. Week Done to the entire team and I hope to see you all again soon.
Thankyou 😁😁😁
- Spurplepink (10/5): Great reception staff, comfy staf - We had a great short break at Uttoxeter Premier Inn. Despite the lack of on site restaurant at the moment, it did everything we needed. Beds are very comfy. We are particularly grateful to Becky on Reception who really went above and beyond with trying to help one of our group. Her kindness was way more than what was expected.
- HOI LUN (6/5): This should be the problem raised by Hotel.com - Hotels.com with the hotel have some payment issue. When I check in the hotel front desk staff said that i need to pay for this trip, however, I already fully paid when i booked the hotel. After check and clarified she confirmed already received my payment. And I called to Hotel.com the staff request me to pay again for the hotel and refund my previous payment with Hotel.com due to some payment issue between Hotel.com and the Hotel. But is it the issue of customer why i have to do that.
Also due to Hotel restaurant was closed due to undergoing some changes. But i paid extra for the 2 days breakfast and i asked the hotel staff and they said i can request for the refund with Hotel.com. I informed the staff of Hotel.com and she said need time to check and reply....so that i still waiting for their reply and refund.
- Fernando Rodrigo (4/5): Ruim - longe da cidade, longe de uma cidade central, sem restaurante e o "café continental" oferecido é uma piada
