- C2171YPjoanneh (10/5): Excellent affordable hotel in great location of Bangor Facilities. - Had a fantastic stay in Premier Inn Bangor . Location is excellent with everything accessible by foot. The entire town and seafront is less than a five minute walk away . Staff were friendly and helpful which is rare nowadays . Rooms were huge , quiet and had a large tv which is essential when travelling with family. Internet was easy to connect to and breakfast was delicious and plentiful . All staff i encountered were helpful and friendly - we will certainly be back .
- 785cliffg (10/5): Great hotel - Great Premier Inn. I will stay there again. Very clean and the food was great. Well situated by the motorway and easy to find.1
- mbH8734YN (10/5): Just great - Great all round and close to town. Check in was fast, welcoming staff and easy free parking. Room was a good size and clean
- WayneM717 (10/5): Great Stay - Had a wonderful stay here.First time usingPremier Plus facilities and it really was great. Hotel spotlessly clean and staff very helpful.
- michaelmV8259PH (10/5): Fire alarm. - Freddie and Sue handled this mornings fire alarm very well in my opinion. After having to evacuate us all at 6 am. Dealing with the fire crews and sourcing the alarm codes. Very well.done. not an easy situation at all. At 6 am.
Great staff.
- E7700PSpaulm (10/5): A second home once a week 😁 - Stop here very Tuesday through work. Bein stopping here now since January. The hotel has improved loads since jen has bein the manger. The staff are always smile pleasant and can't do enough for anyone. The rooms are spotless. Bathroom is really clean
Jen always comes and asks who was your day. And spends five mins haven a chat with me. When it's busy everyone works as team do get things done quick as possible. Look forward to comin and stopping and the premier inn in Bangor northern Ireland every Tuesday. All the staff are on first name terms with me
- shazza5079 (8/5): mr & mrs Simons - was happy with our room the location and hotel facilities just one thing spoilt it was one rude bar restaurant staff who rudely shouted across a packed bar when my husband had to take me to our room as was unwell shouted we hadn’t paid for our 3 meals when we had spent loads in the bar restaurant on our stay he felt very humiliated
- emmacJ6282WU (10/5): Great! - I stayed here for 1 night a couple of weeks ago. It was a bargain price and the room was comfortable, clean and had what I needed. This was my second time there and both visits were great. I enjoyed the breakfast both times and I'm sure I'll be back.
- Stay68658644987 (10/5): Second to none - From check in to check out my experience was second to none. Every team member I encountered was pleasant, friendly and helpful. A special mention to Jen and Susie, they go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. I highly recommend this hotel
- 319lornap (10/5): Amazing team work - The staff at this Premier Inn were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional.
A special thank-you to Alison, who greeted me by name and made me feel truly welcome.
Thank you to all the team for a great stay!
- bharghavp2023 (10/5): 9 out of 10 - Location :- this premier inn is located 5 mins away from the town center. With parking on site ( just remember to put in your details / car reg ) when you check in to avoid any parking fine. Plenty of parking.
Staff :- Very pleasant staff. Went downstairs to ask for extra milk and coffee. Ended up with a bag full of them. Very pleased.
Room :- I opted for the Premier Plus room this time around and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a mini fridge , coffee machine , and to top it off a wireless charging pad on the side of the bed. Spacious room with modern looks to it.
Restaurant / food :- The restaurant is literally next to the hotel / again make sure you put your car reg in to avoid any fines. The restaurant itself was rather big space wise. Staff took me to my table. Got there early than usual / about 6pm so the restaurant wasn't that busy. Opted for a side of garlic bread with the Korean style burger. Both of which was cooked to the tee. 10/10 for the food.
- F2654WEmargaretw (10/5): A very good experience - Staff were efficient, obliging friendly, they worked together well as a team. Staff created a warm atmosphere
It was a very comfortable stay.
- Mids1408 (10/5): Great place to stay at a bargain cost. - Had a great stay here. Staff were really friendly. The room was so good. It was so modern and clean. Just been decorated to a very high standard. The bed was so comfortable. Had room and meal deal for less than £100. Absolute bargain. Evening meal was awesome and so was breakfast. Definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. 😊👍🏻
- jackielangridge (8/5): Over night stay - Stayed one night as we were going to see a show in Banbury. Overall the stay was good, room was clean and comfortable. Tables in restaurant were a bit sticky and the brown sauce bottle had the lid open and there was brown sauce all down the outside of the bottle. The black pudding was inedible because it was so hard. Apart from that the breakfast was nice.
- shroad7rock4 (10/5): Premier Inn Bangor Northern Ireland - All excellent in all aspects. One of the best Premier Inns I have stayed at. I would strongly recommend this excellent hotel along with its very welcoming staff.
- richardwG9575YU (8/5): Great hotel, great staff. - We had a lovely stay at this hotel, the staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough to help. We stayed 3 nights in a family room which was larger than we had experienced in other premier inns which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was clean and a credit to the staff, the only downside was the restaurant was closed throughout our stay due to staff sickness.
- Seaside52144566797 (8/5): Family weekend - We spent 2 nights there as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (age 6 & 4). Family room consisted of a double bed, a single and a folding single bed. The room was satisfactory, tea/coffee making facilities, sufficient linens/pillows etc. WiFi was patchy at times but ok. Tv in room with free-view channels, not a smart tv. Room was overall clean but the bathtub required a bit of extra attention. All staff we interacted with were pleasant and helpful, nothing seemed to be a bother, from check-in to the serving staff in the restaurant/bar. Breakfast selection was standard for what you would expect and replenished frequently. Evening meal provided a wide variety of options for both adults and children. Food was good value as a family, especially when the meal deal was selected and child’s meal is free with every paying adult meal. Hotel is located beside a park which was lovely for an early evening walk and very close to the town & train station.
- NorthStar65702972951 (10/5): A lovely stay - We stayed for 3 nights for a visit with family.
Room was nice, modern, clean and lots of space.
WiFi was ok on the whole.
Bathroom was nice and clean and modern.
Breakfast was good, lots of choice and was easy to book a table at reception.
We had an evening meal 1 night in the barum gate next door. Food and drinks were good with lots of choice.
Was plenty of parking available.
Even tho they have building work going on there was very little noise and then only slightly on the Monday morning around 9am.
- maryellenm929 (6/5): Overnight trip - On arrival to the premier inn a friendly but too casual staff member checked us in, (perhaps too comfortable but cursed a number of times)
check in took a long time due to “systems” head office buys but don’t always work. She offered us meal deals which we said we’d be interested in to then say the bar/restaurant was busy but to buy them when we come down:
When we came down to the bar there were plenty of tables but were told it would be 45 mins before one available, it appears despite a full hotel they were very understaffed. No offer of taking a table for drinks while we wait.
Our room smelled of smoke /musty. But visually appeared clean.
Unfortunately our son had an accident falling backwards from his bed through a gap, hitting the wall at the window and splitting his head open. I went for first aid help and was blessed to be met by Georgie.
Georgie was incredible, he was calm, friendly, supportive and thought of little things like a care package of fruit drinks and treats for the hospital wait. He was brilliant with both our sons and two anxious parents.
I work in customer service and people like him make such a difference, his calm friendly leadership was just perfect for our anxious 1 hour in room before leaving for hospital.
I can’t say I felt the same from the duty manager.
A real mixed bag of a visit. Accidents happen, georgie was brilliant, I’m not sure the set up of the bed was ideal. I sought out staff before checking out to return the bloody towels, and to discuss the accident report. There was no checking in on us without that. Again it feels the hotel is busy with minimal staff.
Thank you Georgie for really making a difference to our family. The rest of the trip was unfortunately not what I’d expect of a premier inn if there had been no accident Id still have been every underwhelmed at best. There’s 5 stars for Georgie, 2/3 for the hotel and experience overall.
- 548carolinem (4/5): No hot water & no working hairdryer. - I stayed in a premium plus room for one night for work.
The hotel is undergoing major refurbishment. Fair enough.
The staff were friendly & helpful and the breakfast was fine.
The room was a good size with a comfortable bed.
However, there was no hot water which meant I had a cold shower.
I had wet hair and the hairdryer did not work.
Although the room was nice and clean, it had an awful smell and I had to open the window overnight to get rid of the smell.
This level of service was not acceptable for a cost of £99 per night + £9.99 for breakfast.
No apology was given regarding the water situation. Very poor.
- TomTomCornwall (10/5): Highly recommended - Excellent service from reception staff, super friendly and welcoming.
Superb value for money room with every that we needed provided for.
Thanks very much.
- martinq529 (10/5): Very enjoyable stay at the Premier Inn Bangor NI - We stayed in Premier Inn, Bangor for 3 nights. We found Suzie and her team to be excellent. They made our stay really enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was pristine.
The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast and evening meal were really good.
- 970Anonymous (8/5): ROSHAN WAS GREAT - We always stay here when we visit Bangor. We stayed last on 1st September and the manager, Roshan was more than helpful. Food isn't great especially on the evening but otherwise the hotel is very quiet, warm and comfortable
- HannahVCairns (8/5): Pretty pleasant - Good location with plenty of parking and generally the overall cleanliness was really good. Upon forst entering my room however, it hadn't been cleaned since the previous guests so had to go back downstairs to get it rectified. The young female member of staff was really helpful and apologetic. She quickly issued me a new room and then saw her on the way to my previous room with a member of housekeeping to get that sorted.
The rooms are lovely and quiet, spacious with plenty of plug sockets, mirrors and decent lighting. Had a really good night sleep.
There are good drink offers in the bar which was nice after a relatively long drive.
The service in the restaurant was pretty slow and we had a few issues with the food. It took just over 2 hours for 3 of us to have a pretty standard 2 course meal, with no apology or explanation as to why service was so slow - we have a feeling it was more based on the kitchen staff than the actual waiters but don't want to wrongly assume.
- Sue149 (10/5): Newly refurbished, smart, comfortable rooms. - I was given one of the recently lovely refurbished rooms on the ground floor which was a double plus divan. The bath / shower room is modern and stylish, non slip floor, refillable Baylis & Harding toiletries, plenty of hot water with a rain shower and a hand held shower. Water saving sink tap and toilet flush. Stylish decor in the room, scandi design feel. adjustable bedside lights although main lights are a bit harsh. Adequate clothes hanging and storage for a short stay. Tea, coffee and milk tops ups are available. Adjacent pub / restaurant with pleasant ambiance, good drinks / wine selection and typical pub grub food t reasonable prices. All staff very welcoming and helpful. Big car park.
- bobbQ2994IG (10/5): Great place for a relaxing stop-over - Excellent place to stop on our journey south. Easy access, quiet, clean and comfortable. All you would expect from the best of Premier Inn
- karenmD9505EH (10/5): OVERWORKED STAFF - WHITBREAD COMPANY should be ashamed of yourself staff over worked. Jen and Chris yous are totally wasted working for this company. 1 member of staff managing checkin and bar service also seen front of house staff doing housekeeping stripping beds cleaning rooms🙈 I am returning to this premier inn end of October simply due to the amazing staff who make you feel like home can’t do enough for you. Promotions in bar please if you are going to advertise drinks promotions please can you have the drinks to avail of this promotion not the staffs fault again WHITBREAD COMPANY. Rooms spotless Restaurant and bar spotless how they get the time to keep this hotel running I have no idea 🙈 ohhhhh yes I do over worked staff who is going to be ran into the ground who will not be able to keep up something will give. Looking forward to staying again at the end of the month simply due to your staff. Don’t want to run down any premier inn because I do like the hotels but seriously need to evaluate staffing issues x
- iansW9570QE (10/5): Nice location and clean hotel - First time stay here and it was a nice experience with good views of the park from our window. The hotel is situated quite close to the town centre and the train station which has a regular service into Belfast. The rooms are clean but storage space is limited these days due to a refurbishment of the rooms which has done away with a decent sized wardrobe. We only travel light due to travelling on a motorcycle but even our small amount of luggage causes us a problem with nowhere to put our belongings apart from on the carpet.
With the hotel's location, we were able to walk along the North Downs Coastal route towards Belfast Port which is very interesting and follows the railway line that came in handy when we got tired after walking for a few hours.
- cliveb661 (10/5): Can’t fault it - Great stay here.
Vicky and the staff are all nice.
Rooms have been refurbed and all clean and new.
Nothing bad to say.
This is our third stay and it’s always good
- Connector728343 (10/5): Enjoyable Experience - Room was comfy & clean. I have a range of food intolerances, the staff were excellent at Dinner & breakfadt. Quality of food was lovely. All Staff (in particular Susy) were friendly courteous & efficient.
- Go68399770259 (6/5): Good location within walking distance to town centre and train and bus station - Good location on the outskirts of the town centre but within walking distance if you fancy an uphill walk.Close to train and bus station 40 minutes train service to Belfast for £8.30 regular service.Overall not a bad place to stay, Downside beds not what they used to be, creaky and not a great mattress to sleep on. Pillows were awful so had to ask for more.Average breakfast and evening meal not great.Much better options eating out. Room only had 1 chair for two people so it's a fight for first in gets the chair to sit on. The staff are friendly but not enough of them. Stood waiting to check in and stood waiting for breakfast.
- 632tommym (10/5): Our stay - Just had a 2 night stay in. Premier Inn Bangor..Had a very welcoming experience.Room on 3rd floor was very clean and tidy, also very quiet... evening meal's and breakfast was delicious....Staff were welcoming and efficient...A big shout out to Susie and Chris in particular for all there help during our stay.....Will most definitely return in the near future...
- QUBNI (10/5): Very comfortable stay - great location and excellent service - Really enjoyed our 1 night stay. The hotel is in a great location near all local amenities and there is free parking on site for all guests.
Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a great shower.
We were on a meal deal offer which was great value including a 2 course dinner plus drink and an unlimited Premier Inn breakfast, which was lovely.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the manager particularly provided great service to all guests.
We will be back I’m sure!
- brendano355 (6/5): Probably won't stay at this one again - Conveniently located with free parking close to M40. Unfortunately the post code on my booking took me to a dead end about 15 mins from the hotel, then found an alternative post code which worked. The bathroom was different to any experienced at Premier Inn previously, and felt cramped, and shower curtain wasnt long enough so shower sprayed onto bathroom floor. The sink required a bit of a stretch to use, and the plug wasnt very good at emptying. One of the poorest Premier Inn experiences. Food available was fine, with a Costa Coffee and Hotel Chocolat close by
- P2017IOmollyl (6/5): Average - Lovely hotel, but other visitors weren’t considerate as visitors were shouting from early hours all night. No security were around to monitor this. As you can appreciate when you have had a long day, this isn’t acceptable. Corridors should be monitored throughout.
- astidog (10/5): Good Location - This was our first of three stops on this trip. We were booked in for 2 nights. Price was good and Banbury area was somewhere we had not explored previously.
We had an accessible room- this was on the 2nd floor but was fairly near the lifts. Room was a good size, the bed was large and comfy, and the bathroom was fine. Just the usual niggle- the shower head was at its higest point - a struggle to get down. If I was wheelchair bound I would have needed help (Any hotel reading this- in accessible rooms please leave the shower head at its lowest it is easier for tall people to raise than short to lower!) It looked like I had drowned the wetroom but it did dry out quickly so that is a win. We needed extra towels- provided in a flash when requested.
Breakfast was the normal all you want. A full breakfast for me, and continental for mum and... the toaster actually toasted the bread in one pass!!! We did eat there one evening and it was.. ok.. nothing special and of course my first choice was unavailable so ended up having the shatring starter as a main! The other evening we got a Greggs too good to go bag from the garage just down the road (a rather well stocked mini Asda) That did us just fine.
RIght outside the Premier Inn is a Hotel Chocolate with a Costa next to it. A short drive away is a small retail park (the roundabout is really confusing- you will be in the wrong lane lol)
A good stay and yes we would visit again if in the area.
- jonbP277GW (10/5): Jen hotel manager - Jen is an absolute credit to premier inn..
She’s polite switched on efficient and so helpful..
She brightened up our mornings..
It’s good to meet good people and this lady is one of the good ones..
We look forward to catching up with her at Bangor in a few months time
- ashleybW7617YW (10/5): 7 months in the South West - Comfortable, clean and well maintained rooms with adequate space to relax and make full use of the facilities after a full day in work.
The staff are always helpful and make me feel welcome during my repeated visits as business trips. I genuinely couldn’t ask more.
- nibinl (10/5): Best premier inn - Amazing location with amazing staff. Plenty of walk trails near by. Hotel was easy to find, plenty of signage. If there is any issues trying to find the place the staff is amazing and will lead you in the right direction. The atmosphere in the hotel is amazing the staff make it homely and you will have a good laugh and a joke with them. The rooms are cosy and probably one of the best premier inn I stayed at.
- 532stuarto (8/5): Descent overnight stay - Welcome was OK easy check in.
Room as expected not brilliant, it was a bit tired, but not bad. Very reasonably priced. It was nice and quiet had a good sleep, bed large and comfy. Bathroom showed its age, but perfectly adequate. Food was good, they have a restaurant on the premises, not a pub next door. Overall I would stay again
- nicolabH36SK (10/5): My Pa - My experience at This Hotel was never stayed in a hotel by myself the staff have made me so welcome its like my second home Brona knows how to pick staff only thing I don't like is checking out and the ground floor room is perfect for me I lost my Dad earlier this year had other family illnesses the staff here have helped me through the hardest time of my life &im very grateful to them they know that
- 158stanj (6/5): Great hotel - if only they had enough staff! - Very clean, comfortable hotel. Arrived late (2230 hrs) due to flight delays so weren't surprised there was no one on reception. However a gentleman appeared after a few minutes and checked us in. Even served us a coffee and tea. In room there was only one hand towel but easily remedied following day. Next day saw notices about registering car details but machine/monitor at reception wasn't working. Next day when we asked at reception the screen was actually missing. Lady registered us on her phone. At breakfast there was a sign asking people to wait to be served. There was never anyone present to do this though we did get noticed event. Same each day. Never saw anyone at reception. Always had to ask other staff. The most serious problem was that the restaurant was closed each night. This was a big disappointment as a main reason for choosing Premier Inn was the expected convenience of an onsite dinner option. Bangor used to have numerous dining options but no longer. Very run down. All of the staff we had dealings with were first class. Very friendly and helpful. However it is clear that management is cutting costs radically and therefore we are unlikely to revisit.
- 735beverleyn (10/5): Recommendation for Premier inn at Banbury. - This was my first visit to a premier Inn, our room was a good size ( plus room) and spotless. I wasn't expecting too much from the food tbh. However how wrong I was, the food was absolutely excellent. I had linguine with, tomatoes, garlic and chilli, a side of grilled chicken. The chicken was tender, moist and delicious. The service, was excellent, our waitress ? Anna was pleasant and attentive. All round an excellent stay.
- aaston2014 (4/5): Not the usual standard - We had previously stayed here and it was a good typical premier inn experience, not so this time.
The self check in kiosks were not working so there was quite a queue with only one member of staff checking people in.
We arrived after a long day due to flight delays and heavy traffic. We were tired and hungry. Upon checking in I asked if we could eat ASAP. The chap dealing with dining said the earliest they could fit us in was 8.15pm. As it was 6pm at that time we explained we were hoping to eat early as we’d had a long day, the restaurant was only a quarter full at that time. They eventually agreed and the food was very good.
Breakfast was ok, maybe not as good as other premier inns.
Our room on the first floor was dated, the bathroom needed refitting, peeling and dirty paintwork, the towels were old and tatty. The bed was not comfortable at all which was unusual as premier inn beds are usually nice. I do think that perhaps they are spending all the money on premier plus rooms and the standard rooms are just left.
All in all we were disappointed and would not choose to book here again.
- Wanderer722027 (6/5): Tired dirty rooms - The hotel was undergoing a major refurbishment during our stay which we were informed about beforehand, we still decided to stay as it was a one night stop over for us.
I agree with over previous reviews that yes the hotel was tired, shabby and in need of modernisation and refurbishment, our room did smell musty and our bin had not been emptied which contained lager cans which didn’t help the smell of stale lager wafting through the room.
The bathroom did have mould in the corners and in the tile grouting which in my opinion can easily be removed with mould and mildew spray, so cleaners are responsible for this I’m guessing, unless they are not permitted to use such cleaning products which would solve the problem instantly imo.
The best experience were the two lovely ladies on reception, they went above and beyond our expectations with their friendly presence and conversation, offering recommendations on various places of interest & restaurants ( even kindly wrote down a list of places for us, thank you ladies, sorry I forgot both your names)
They explained about the refurb during check in too, it was a shame because if we had booked a few weeks later then my review would have been a 5 star, but deducted 1 star for unclean room and 1 star for general tired appearance of hotel.
5 star to the ladies though, they are usually the ones that guests moan to first.
- donnaoH6689MR (10/5): Great place lovely staff - We stayed at the premier Inn for a wedding.
Staff Molly Paul junior
Really looked after us we're very accommodating.would come back
- U7471ZOanniem (10/5): Great value - And a good night's sleep! - Needed a home from home & premier inn was it. Quiet comfy and great service all at excellent value, £59 the night. Tempted to eat in at the restaurant too, tasty tex-mex and also good value, great staff - Amir, Brandon & Paul. Only question, to breakfast or not to breakfast, at £10.99!
- jimsY453YE (10/5): Home from home. - Room throughout was clean including bed and bathroom. Breakfast was fresh and the choice was as much as you needed. Would stay here again, no problem.
- KathrynC1768 (10/5): 5 star night - We had a really great experience. We stayed 1 night, the reception staff were super helpful & friendly. The room was clean, the tea & coffee was stocked well. We had evening meal & breakfast, the food was fantastic. Would definitely book here again.
- R1tesh (10/5): Junior, molly and Brandon are true credit to the brand. - Exceptional. Junior, molly, Brandon
Made the whole experience very welcoming. Hence why we always return.
True credit to the company, premier inn needs more people like this to boost the brand.
Bery professional helpful and very friendly very approachable.
- davidhO747KT (4/5): Elegant and clean establishment, but problem with bath/shower mixer switch - Easy and free car parking. I asked for a room with a bath and one was found for me. Cleanliness of the establishment. Excellent choice of good food for breakfast including berries, croissants, cooked breakfast buffet etc.
There was a problem with the mixer switch in the bath, to select shower or tap. It was loose and came off. I had to fill the bath with water from the shower. This was in room 2. I reported immediately and staff attended and said they would change my room to no.19 for my second night. Next morning I had to clear all of my possessions into the car because 19 wasn't yet available. In the evening, I checked in again and was given room 2 again. Reception had no knowledge of my problem the previous evening and came into take a look. He found the mixer was still loose and came off in his hand. But adjusted to ensure I could fill the bath by the tap. So that worked, but it was a nuisance having to go through all of that.
- G6464HHstevenl (6/5): Ok, but one staff was awful, and outside area a disgrace - Great parking, lovely room, very good breakfast, but when we arrived a bit early there was no staff around to welcome us, the self check in were out of order, when a young girl with ba brown ponytail came near the desk basically ignored us, we explained that we were early and asked if we could get a drink from the bar, had an attitude to serve us, could not be bothered, no conversation, could not pour a decent pint.....then after this we decided to go outside with the drinks, wow, what a disappointment, the patio , chairs and tables had not been cleaned for years?? And the parasols were ready for the dump ( nothing like the photos when booking ) but the welcoming staff later to book in at 3pm were excellent.
- sarahpN3072RS (2/5): The worst experience ever - We have stayed in many premier inns over the years and usually have had a positive experience , this one however was terrible , it was dirty, staff were rude , and one fan that didn’t work properly !
On arrival we were told they were under refurbishment and I could pay extra for a premier plus room which had aircon , I said yes please the guy told me how great these rooms are etc etc and the price but then said but we have none !!!!
We went to our room it smelled musty and also a stale smell of sick , sheets were dirty and the heat was unbearable 😩
We promptly left !!!
One of the cleaners said come back in six weeks things will be better then !!!
- Compass40641234629 (2/5): Dangerous for Kids and a health hazard hotel due to mould in rooms. - The hotel from hell. The FAMILY room we booked for our "rest easy" holiday smelt of mould so strongly we complained in the first 10 secs. The hotel reception had to explain that the whole hotel smelt of mould, Premier Inn are aware, and every room is as bad and smells of mould as the next. The room was run down, the bathroom also stunk of mould and was covered in it. It was hard and uncomfortable to sleep in the room as it was damp and smelt of mould so badly. The kids cried, the wife cried and it basically ruined the holiday. On Friday night the room above played music so loud the whole hotel complained, and then the same room did it again Saturday, and all this whilst breathing in mould. Premier inn should be ashamed to advertise and rent rooms out in this condition. Premier inn are so aware of the mould situation in ALL the rooms, (i complained and staff took me around another 2 rooms and they ALL smelt) they are referbishing the hotel due to the mould, but still rented the room out. That's admission in the first instance. I will be taking my children to the Drs as my eldest now has a cough after 3 nights sleeping in that bio hazard of a room and I'm worried it's due to spores. Why didn't I book another hotel? Well, after driving 5 hours and it being our only holiday, with no refund, plus a bank holiday wknd, every other hotel was full!. Awful, disgusting, dangerous and a health hazard. Premier Inn, you should be ashamed.
- S9937VYalisonl (4/5): Dissapointingly poor alll round: would not reccomend. - We stayed as a couple in a double room , plus family member in an accessible rooming the annexe building.
THE BAD
Both rooms looked old, tired & not particularly clean generally- bathrooms in particular.
There was peeling paint/ wallpaper in both rooms and in general areas of reception & restaurant.
A stale/stagnant smell was in both rooms ? due to what/from where?- note several other reviews mention this.
The carpet in our room(50) was " sticky" in places so quickly decided it was shoes on" all the time.
Outdoor areas by restaurant/pub untidy & dirty Friday evening g to Sunday morning- rubbish on ground, cigarette butt's.
Very poor customer service from
check- in Friday evening to check out Sunday morning shown by unfriendly staff minimal eye contact with us, no recognition when we approached desk- continued their own staff conversations or looking at laptop.
Poor customer service in restaurant at breakfast time also from the the few staff there were. Only exception was the young waitress in restsurant on Friday evening who was friendly & really helpful.
MANAGEMENT NEED TO CONSIDER
Inadequate number of "DisabledParking " spaces- 3 for whole hotel ( aware this is dependant on local authority planning), a disabled space would have been needed disabled space
THE GOOD
- Table Table restaurant waitress
evening of Friday 22nd August
-Location, easily accessible & easy
to get around Barnstsble
- Comfy bed, quiet room.
- jacks0nrichard (2/5): Avoid Barnstaple Premier Inn - Room was swelteringly hot, room smelt appallingly seemingly from bathroom, duvet was stained and horrible. Mentioned room issues to receptionist who said the rooms are disgusting and that it is known by Premier Inn. Would not stay here again.
- jeremymckeown55 (2/5): Terrible. Appalling smell in the bedroom and no air conditioning or decent ventilation. - The room had an intolerable odour, possibly stale water on the carpet or possibly sewage from the bathroom. They were unable to move me and I was unable to stay for the second night so had to move to (and pay for) another hotel. There was no customer service after 5pm so have been unable to secure a refund.
- 896kerit (2/5): Absolutely boiling - The hotel room was unbearably warm. 27°C at night, even when it was cool outside. It was uncomfortable to just exist in that room. I will never stay there again.
- wixon (8/5): Friendly, efficient, comfortable - We were warmly welcomed and the checkin process was quick. (Check out was also very easy.) The room was comfortable, quiet, relaxing and clean. Breakfast was the usual... Good selection and availability. You could eat enough for a whole day here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not great - Hotel was ok until we saw a mouse run across the floor in the breakfast service area whilst we were having drinks in the evening
- peter (2/5): Closed for renovations - When we arrived, the hotel was surrounded by high wire fencing preventing us from getting to the front door. Staff at a nearby restaurant told us the hotel had been closed for renovations for two weeks, starting the day we left on our trip. We were able to find alternate accommodation.
- john (6/5): Disappointing - The hotel was being renovated. We were not made aware of this before our stay. There was no hof breakfast just a box containing a box of concentrated orange, a biscuit, granola and raisins. No other services open. Very disappointing. Had we been aware we would not have booked. Why didn't Holiday Inn make an arrangement with Toby Carvery next door to breakfast there.
- Joan (8/5): Comfortable, convenient hotel for Banbury. - This hotel is clean, comfortable & very handy for Banbury being just off the M40. There are two restaurants within a few minutes walk for evening meals etc. This hotel is excellent value for travellers & families alike.
- T (8/5): Nice Hotel near to home that was overflowing - Suited our purpose --- my house was full of guests from Netherlands & Liverpool --- I needed a bed close by ( in walking distance & reasonable ) !!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great nights sleep. - Friendly staff, clean tidy room and very comfortable. Breakfast was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Useful - Overnight trip for work. Useful location, efficient check in. Average breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Express Inn Banbury - Whilst the room was clean the bathroom was not good. The water pressure was such that we both gave up even trying to use the shower as there was nothing more than a trickle and were told that this was normal for the hotel. Due to this alone, we won't be staying again.
- Andrea (10/5): Pleasant stay - Enjoyable stay with choice of eating places within walking distance
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice weekend away - Our stay was excellent wonderful time just the breakfast could be better. thank you
- Darren (8/5): Great stay - Great stay
- tara (10/5): Nice stay - We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a plesant stay. Close to tanks alot where we were visiting on the saturday. The hotel is next to a frankie and bennies resturant and also a Toby carvery which is handy. Breakfast is basic but nice
- Jacqueline (10/5): Good quality hotel, with a convenient location - We stayed as a family, with our dog, and took 3 rooms. All rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. Surprisingly quiet considering the location near to the road. We ate in Frankie & Benny's which was just opposite. We were advised the menu for evening meals was limited at the hotel, but this was not a problem. Breakfast was fine, hot food on offer and ample choice of buffet. Obvious quality in the bedding and towels. Excellent quality.
- Olive (4/5): Cold and no wi-fi - One of the worst places I've stayed in. Never again, I've stayed on the 1st floor, in room 106. It was very noisy inside from the nearby roads and the thin curtain do nothing to keep away the noise (or cold for that matter). The room was freezing. Tthe aircon setting was locked on the maximum level of 24 degrees (which it wasn't, as the air it blew was cool). The sticker on the aircon said this was because Holiday Inn likes 'to save environment'. Who are you kidding? Stop treating your customers like idiots please. It's even more insulting to us when your aircon can't heat the air at all and we're freezing. I had to call the reception and after half an hour of wait, I was finally presented with a protable heater. I should be so thankful! Oh, and connecting to their free wi-fi is far from simple! I couldn't connect for ages, then asked the reception only to get a reply that 'sometime this happens with laptops, nothing we can do'. Managed to connect later in the evening (problems with capacity?) only to get cut off every 10 -15 minutes. I wish I booked one of the small (comfy and warm) B&Bs nearby. Holiday Inn Banbury - never again!
- My travels (10/5): A welcoming stay - This stay was very satisfying after a long tiring day in the pouring rain on August bank holiday. Staff were helpful and made this stay welcoming. The hotel was clean spacious, light and comfortable, breakfast was good. If in the area again I will certainly stay again.
- rose (8/5): Convenient - Checkin was quick and easy with plenty of parking. There is a petrol station nearby if you need to fill the tank. Very convenient and easy to find from the motorway.Decent sized room with a very comfy bed.
- Sands (10/5): Great Hotel - Holiday inn Banbury was very good. Stayed with my teenage children, the room was nice, and the beds comfortable. Great breakfast and the wifi was very good. Good location, near the motorway and able to get to oxford in approx. 30 mins. Room was a good sized and bathroom was nice.
- Chris (6/5): Banbury - Hotel very busy every night. Lifts not working. Breakfast included? most days there was nothing left. One day we came down to just beans.. The ashtrays and trash cans were overflowing, and we mentioned this to the staff on numerous occasions. IT wasn't until we emailed the parent company that they were emptied. The rooms were tiny. They called it a family room.. With 2 adults and 2 children it was uncomfortable. Parking was not guest friendly. Overall disappointed for the cost of the room.
- liz (8/5): Ideal place close to Banbury town centre - Lovely hotel in prime location but hotel staff were not that friendly hardly smiled at all
- Debbie (10/5): Beds could have been comfier - Overall a good experience. Good clean hotel. Friendly staff. Buffet breakfast very good. Only downside was that the bed was very hard and the sofa bed for the children was also very uncomfortable. Would use again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for money - A clean room, hot shower, comfortable bed, efficient staff and a simple but inexpensive dinner. Oh and the air conditioner is a huge plus!!!
- jen (10/5): - Perfect for us. Clean and family friendly
- Frost (8/5): Pleasant stay - Visiting family in the area and found the Holiday Inn to be ideal place to stay. Only really needed a place to sleep and we were very happy with our room. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - I usually avoid these budget chains but gave it a go and it was ok. Breakfast wasn't special but ok. Location was great just off the motorway and the room was very spacious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant family stay - Very nice hotel and friendly helpful staff. Pleasantly surprised how modern and refreshing the hotel was. Had read reviews re breakfast before & only 3 hit items, thus was true but there were plenty of alternatives on offer as well. All in all very happy with our stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Although free-I feel overcharged for the breakfast - The rooms were standard, at best. Adjoining door to a strangers room was an odd thing to have if not staying with friends/family. Bathroom was horrible and more akin to a hospital than a hotel - very clinical feel. This was all topped off by the worst part of the stay; the breakfast.
Suffering from post-wedding hangovers, our group were looking forward to the great "free" breakfast as advertised. Naturally we figured that the standard items on an English breakfast menu would appear, however, we were sorely disappointed. Three things appeared for your English breakfast; beans, sausage, and very anaemic looking scrambled eggs. No hash browns, no mushrooms, no fried eggs, no tomatoes, no bacon. Even my Jewish girlfriend was dismayed by the lack of bacon with her breakfast. To top off the lack of variety, the three things you offered were continuously empty, leaving people standing around having to contemplate a health yogurt or cereal. Seriously, if I’d have known how bad the breakfast would have been, I would have gone elsewhere.
How much would I pay to stay in one of these hotels again? Like they advertise their breakfast; Nadda!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great room - comfy bed - new hotel - Very comfortable stay - nice and quiet. Higher quality than a Travelodge for sure. Free breakfast was ok - nothing special. Still definitely recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to the M40. - Excellent hotel. Although ideally located by the M40 the room was very quiet.
- Genuine West Sussex (10/5): Good hotel - All very comfortable and convenient
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very convenient stop-off - very poor bed - Doing a bit of a road trip and staying at a few hotels en route. This hotel was great apart from the bed. Very uncomfortable and even Travelodge had a much, much more comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Banbury hotel - Fine, clean, nice breakfast, convenient to Banbury.
- Mattias (8/5): Very clean, great breakfast, tight space - Pluses were the cleanliness - everything was near new, and it all worked (this seems to be the exception lately). Breakfast was great, and access to the motorway was excellent. By our standards, the room was very tight. We were travelling with a family, and while the fold-out sofabed was adequate for 2 medium size children, it was quite tight for ours (they are tall). Alos, when the bed was folded out, there was no room for anything else. No desk space, no suitcase-opening space, etc. On the plus side, the bathroom was very new and clean, and the shower worked well. Curiously, it lacked a business centre or exercise room - two things I have come to expect from business hotels.
- Agnes (6/5): Wedding reception recommended - Nice hotel but when we got to the room no soap/shower gel in the room. Having said that, when we went to reception they provided some straight away. Breakfast was not too good - horrible scrabbled egg, overdone beans and very odd sausage. Plenty of other stuff on offer but the cooked breakfast was not good.
- Jill (10/5): A family frienly Hotel - A very well maintained quality Inn. The staff were friendly and helpful there were a lot of families. A good quality and plentiful breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for long weekend trip to Oxfordshire - Spend 2 nights with wife & kids for long weekend trip to oxfordshire. Pleasantly priced and well located for various attractions across oxfordshire.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Handy for Banbury facilities - Once again, excellent even fulfilled our request for an accessible room.
- simon (6/5): Reasonable hotel, well located - All perfectly fine and reasonable. Nothing particularly special, and nothing irksome either. Probably overpriced.
- S (4/5): Backache = Sleep Failure - Nice modern hotel and really looked the part until I climbed into bed and sunk straight to the middle. Try as I may I could not get comfortable in such a soft bed offering very little support. Consequently backache forced an early rise the following morning. My wife experienced exactly the same and we were both weary throughout the day as a result. Unfortunately we had booked two nights at the hotel so suffered twice!
- Gospool (6/5): Mystery smells? - Staff very helpful breakfast a real bonus and location from motorway very good .The room however just smelt of air /carpet freshener we did ask to change rooms which management did but the smells remained, not sure how healthy it was!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comments - You get what you pay for, no frills but excellent , staff were very professional, only gripe Wfi problems ,do not feel one should register, seriously boring and over the top, and after all that and going to reception it worked for five minutes then no more. Apple iPad never had problems before anywhere here or in France.
Still good visit Helen
