Guest Reviews
- AmberWood123 (10/5): Wonderful stay - Really lovely hotel with everything you need, welcoming staff and a quiet, calm atmosphere. It’s always spotless when I stay at a Premier Inn. Sea view was utterly glorious.
- lesleylZ8234AR (4/5): Tired and not sea front - Very tired Premier Inn, my allocated room wasn’t available at check in . The check in was very slow creating a queue. My subsequent room smelt and was made up for a family with two additional beds limiting my space and only being able to access the main bed from one side . Good choice a breakfast but the food was warm at best and the coffee machine was also naff.
- Passport680893 (8/5): Value for Money , A very pleasant stay - Just come back from one night stay, I have to stay I couldn't fault it , Yes it could do with a bit of tlc but overall it was value for money. The staff ere very helpful and friendly , the room was clean and tidy . We had dinner and breakfast did the Meal deal again value for money staff were very nice and food was good. Was in a good location a nice flat 30 min walk along seafront to the town centre. Would stay again.
- 990juless (10/5): Very pleasant stay. - I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of November. My room was on the 1st floor and i wasn't disturbed by any noise in the night as i have been when staying in a Travel Lodge! Room was immaculate, looked like a new bathroom suite. Everything was clean and fresh. My only gripes would be to turn the shower on you have to bend right down to the taps in the bath and as you do the shower just soaks you so you can't have a shower without washing your hair which was a nuisance to me as my hair is long and it takes forever to dry, just a design fault I think.
One other gripe was they don't have GB News on Freeview so i had to expose myself to the biased BBC news for a couple of days!
On a positive note all the staff on the front desk were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I loved the pink room effect. The hotel is just across the road from the beach - its a nice walk then along the seafront to Weymouth.
- CeeJayFlyer (4/5): This might be the last time we stay in a Premier Inn. - The location is great with easy access to the sea front and it's possible to walk into the main town along the sea front path. Parking is easy with the main car park behind the hotel.
The rooms and corridors are looking very tired and worn out.
In our room one of the bedside lights had been replaced, but with a different style of fitting, so it didn't match the others in the room. It just looked like a poor attitude to maintenance.
The worst part was the bathroom. The bath was clean but very stained. It looked as if the gloss surface seal has worn away and the exposed subsurface was very badly water-stained. It made us feel we really didn't want to get into it.
The hand-basin was very slow to drain away and when I looked down the plug-hole it was blocked - and looked quite disgusting! Clearly detritus has built up over time. In fairness, when it was pointed out to the receptionist, she promised to take a look, and she managed to clear it a little. However, it needs to be disassembled to clean it properly.
Generally the state of the room and Premier Inn's falling standards were very disappointing. There were no beakers or glasses in the bathroom and we were told they no longer supply them, although the receptionist did manage to find two glasses for us. . We had two bath towels but only one hand towel. My brother and his wife stayed at the same time and he reported the same in their room too. Disappointing and unnecessary penny-pinching because we both had to go to reception to obtain the missing towels.
Having suffered Brewer's Fayre breakfasts a few times in the past we decided not to eat breakfast there and went instead to the café in the car park behind the hotel. Much better value for money, a wider choice and very well cooked.
In the end, I felt sorry for the staff who were doing their best, but seemed to be constantly apologising and trying to fire fight problems that were clearly not their fault. Having had substandard experiences the last few times we've stayed at Premier Inns, this is the last time.
- W6947VEjustinr (10/5): Tremendous - I stayed with my family yesterday and checked out today. Everything about the stay was marvellous. The lady who checked me in was very polite as was the other lady who was working later who gave me a spare key! The breakfast was magnificent as was the person who served me. I also asked for two well done fried eggs which was done really well. I would definitely come here again in the future!
- R9004ZJjant (8/5): You almost get what you pay for. - The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and contained the basic requirements. However, there is nothing more comforting than a dry, warm towel when you step out of the shower. Unfortunately the towels were neither of these. There is no heated towel rail in the bathroom nor anywhere to hang towels to dry except either the shower rail or the back of a chair. We were advised that we could have requested fresh towels daily but that doesn't contribute to reducing Premier Inn's carbon footprint. Also the fan didn't work in the bathroom so the whole room became humid once the bathroom door had been opened after showering.
- Pioneer14590526453 (10/5): Premier Inn Whitley Bay Hotel - Easy to book on line, car parking available, very sort walking distance to Whitley Bay
Promenade & Beach with a view of the whole bay. Only a 10 minute walk from Metro Station.
Friendly staff, Room clean and well kept. Only minor problem was we weren’t explained how to turn on the rooms electricity, by use of the door key card. The Beefeater Inn next door for meals :- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Also other restaurant's within easy walking distance.
- Cragfaster (2/5): Disappointing stay - Our room was directly above the boiler room, we were disturbed with noise all night. The room was incredibly hot, we couldn’t open the window as it was situated directly above the flue. The hotel was showing as full and so we were unable to request a room change Unfortunately we were there for three nights which was hard work with the racket from the boiler room below. No decaffeinated tea or coffee options at breakfast. The internet was down for two of the three days. Very disappointing stay.
- DayTrip488014 (4/5): Not good at all - Room very basic. No drawers to put clothes.Dressing table very small and not good lighting.Only towels for one person and 1 key card and when we went to ask for more at reception ( believe the lady was called Adele) we got a negative response. My partner was told it was only a budget hotel and when she asked for extra towels, key etc she was put to back of queue of people waiting to be checked in.My partner felt let down and on saying that we wouldn't ever return the lady said well we dont want you back.It really spoilt our night. The only good point was the girl that was on reception early afternoon was very nice.
As for being a budget hotel I disagree. We paid £120 room only plus had parking charges as well.
- danieltS5532NX (2/5): What a dump - Premier Inn Booking ref AEJ2971676 Hi I have returned from a night at your Weymouth Seafront hotel and would like to share my experience.
I have stayed in many of your hotels in locations across the uk over the years and have been very pleased with all aspects of the stay ,however the Weymouth Seafront room I stayed in was very dirty smelly and mouldy ,after using the bath I used the hand rail to get out and immediately had a black hand full of mould ,the shower gel dispenser had long hairs encrusted in some black mould-slimey scum ? I felt cleaner before I had a bath ! The toilet was also black in the pan not sure what this was ? When drying my feet I found my toes were entangled in long hairs , these were from a previous guest as I have short hair and were evident all over the stained carpet . It was just a short stay to use a bath and bed for the night however even my sleep was disturbed as the room was very hot and smelly ,fortunately the window could be opened but was very windy and noisy from the car park being outside. I tried to close the window and use the air conditioning however this was broken ! I didn’t complain to reception as I’m not a great fan of confrontation so I am leaving a message hear in hope that these issues are addressed for future customers. Please find images attached . Mr Thomas
- clairehI9479IU (10/5): Practically Perfect In Every way - I recently stayed at the Premier Inn Whitley Bay with my little girl, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a kinder or more helpful team. Travelling alone with a child can be stressful, but every member of staff was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely caring — they really helped put me at ease.
Everywhere was spotless too! I’m really, really fussy when it comes to cleanliness and have even been known to go out and buy new duvets and pillows when staying away — but here, I didn’t need to worry one bit. The room was immaculate, fresh, and so comfortable.
- hazelbZ4144DS (10/5): Lovely seaside stay. - Great seafront location, welcoming reception staff, exactly what you expect from Premier : clean, well-maintained rooms, big comfortable beds with plenty of pillows and towels etc, good breakfast choices, at a reasonable price.
- elainep591 (10/5): Excellent base for a Whitley Bay visit - Excellent location by the Spanish City and waterfront of Whitley Bay. I always use this as a base when I come back to visit family in the area. The hotel is always clean and the service always friendly. Had the unexpected pleasure of being there when the Guy Fawkes fireworks celebration was on the links - an easy walk from the hotel!
- K3974GJmattj (6/5): Fine hotel but free parking? No! - Nice basic hotel but a month after I returned I got a fine for parking my car. Apparently k hadn’t registered my car (because I wasn’t told I had to). The person I spoke to yesterday (3 -Nov) said she would cancel the ticket but I had already paid it because this fine took over 3 weeks and it was the last day I could pay the £60 before it went to £100. I hate these cowboy parking and the businesses that use them. I will be seeking the money back from the hotel through the small claims court so
It’ll cost them a lot more. Needless to say, cowboy parking failed to respond
To my email. Premier inn has lost a customer. Disgusting
- Zakkkk666 (2/5): Not good food - Took our grandson for a pizza, staff very good and attentive due to a nut allergy. We were on table 18.
Unfortunately that’s where the positive vibe ends, my mixed grill was rare at best when asked for well done. Sausage was virtually raw, eggs were runny and the gammon was 2/3 fat. Pizza very plain and wife’s chicken burger was okay at best.
- 497kirstenq (8/5): A credit to the brand - We stay at this Premier Inn regularly as we visit family in the area. The staff are lovely and very accommodating, an absolute credit to the brand. The only thing that let's this hotel down is the associated brewers fayre which is frankly awful. Whitehaven has much nicer restaurants, much more pleasant people than you will find in the brewers fayre, try the restaurants round the harbour, or the local pubs please dont take what you find at the brewers fayre as an example of the local hospitality
- 534rayt (6/5): Good stay apart from breakfast. - Comfortable stay in the hotel, staff were extremely polite and helpful. Evening drinks in the bar had a very good atmosphere. The stay was spoiled somewhat by the breakfast the next morning at the adjacent Brewers Fayre restaurant. Lack of plates and cutlery together with slow replenishment of the food made it very frustrating. Saying that one member of staff, Stacey, was extremely helpful and tried her best to rectify the problem.
- susanj341 (10/5): Relaxing break - Fabulous location the staff were brilliant and the rooms were excellent. I'm going back again in a few weeks with friends.
- andrewlX6411EH (10/5): Hotel in great location - This hotel is in a great location, had it not been very foggy the view would have been great. Friendly staff and a clean comfortable room though no opening window so reliant on air conditioning, room did get quite stuffy.. Car park is run by local country council so have to pay and display, due to location though we were able to leave car and just walk into Whitley Bay itself. Adjacent to hotel is a Beefeater where we had an evening meal then breakfast the next day, again made to feel welcome and good selection of food. Would certainly return here again.
- stephenmA1522YW (2/5): Gone down hill - Good afternoon. I have regularly stayed in Premier inns for about twenty years and using the Weymouth seafront since about 2014. I have suddenly realised on my break away this week that the nights are costing more but the hotel especially in Weymouth just seem to get worse.
Arrived at three to be told our room wasn't ready, but could have a ground floor room which we took.
Again every movement from above could be heard, the room again way to hot air con only went down to 19 degrees, tv remote had no menu and bath was dirty, damage to table and when I came to remove the duvet cover as I always do when I leave found the duvet to be filthy. Yes could of complained but then would have to waste time changing rooms. Do the rooms not get checked regularly to see if any issues. I have always put positive feedback on social media about the Premier inn and never negative especially because of the staff. I am certainly considering using other hotels now when we have short breaks away.
- danihO7286SY (10/5): Very good - Stayed at the weekend. Rooms were spotless and the location was amazing right on the sea front. Staff were friendly. Would definitely stay again.
- hewitsonh (10/5): Highly recommended - Called in for a breakfast and a rest from the road, were greeted by Jane, lovely lady, very friendly, we were directed to the breakfast area , the food was very presentable and tasted really nice enjoyed all, will return again
- tonya538 (8/5): Premier Inn, Whitley Bay is ok - Friendly, helpful staff, great location, clean room with comfy bed, good size bath and great sea view. Room was very warm, windows don't open by design and air conditioning in our room (Rm 220) was ineffective. Car parking available adjacent to hotel cost less than £5 from 3pm to following morning. Attached Beefeater pub did reasonable priced food and a decent breakfast. Checkout was 12noon so got a nice lie in.
- Karen (8/5): - Standard room was clean & warm. Front reception woman was lovely & helpful with advice for our travels to Edinburgh. Value for money
- Mr20132013 (8/5): Pleasant stay - All very good, easy check in and friendly team on reception.
Room was good, much better than a recent room we had in Wales!
Good all round service, cannot complain.
Breakfast was ample at the Brewers for breakfast.
Would come again for sure.
- sharondJ2347FG (8/5): Family room - The family room was adequate for our trip. The 3 beds do not give you much space in the room. The room is clean and has the basics in it.
- A363JLdeannam (2/5): Worst Premier Inn ever - Filthy carpets and banisters very strong smell of cannabis -(made us feel sick) in the hallway Informed reception of the noise, & bad language, smoke coming from a room at the back of the hotel on our arrival. Reception did not deal with the issue only put a letter in everybody's room on the Saturday evening (2nd night) regarding strong smell of cannabis and removing the guests from the hotel. Put the air con on and the room smelled of faeces after. Pillows were very hard, changed them but still couldn't sleep. Could of stayed in a bed and breakfast in the town for the same price but thought we would stay in a premier inn as we know what we are getting as we normally enjoy staying in Premier inn and have a good relaxing stay but unfortunately this one totally let the chain down, would never stay there again and would recommend to avoid.
- O8136SBrobertr (6/5): Would not stay in this room again uncomfortable bed 2 single beds joined together shower in wet room flooded floor - Room 8 bed not comfortable shower flooded wet room floor and carpet in room 2 single beds joined together shower flooded floor
- jazyjim (10/5): Overnight stop over - Visit to see our daughter, good location, easy parking and only short walk into town along the seafront. Took advantage of the early check in premier plus room.
- sunloverhampshire (6/5): Warm welcome ..... then shocked at cleanliness - Great location. Staff pleasant and helpful. Room needs refurbishment and mattress not as good as other hotels. Bathroom bright and clean.
Hairdryer needs attention couldn't report it as reception was busy on checkout.
Corridor carpet stained and had an unpleasant odour.
Brewers fayre breakfast very good. Dinner hit and miss we ate 3 evenings food only warm.
Staff didn't wear name badges so unable to mention them by name. Overall 7 off 10.
- Annescarfe (2/5): Filthy bath ,so much dust nobody cares - Where do start ,no xtra pillows no hairdryer they said they didn’t have any !! But they found one ,then came time to sleep I started coughing really badly didn’t know why till I looked at the carpet the dust was awful all up the wooden panels next to me I couldn’t sleep for coughing I have asthma and it had triggered it of so I had to go Weymouth A&E they gave me antibiotics. The bath bath was filthy I had to clean it but it was to slippery to get in So I asked for a bath mat and my room to be hoovered so when I got back tonight I have a bath mat but has not been cleaned this is my Heath I don’t find it funny.Anne Scarfe
- charlotted520 (6/5): Premier plus room - Situated at the end of Weymouth but walk straight across to the seafront and is a lovely walk into town. We stayed in the premier plus room - much larger than normal and contains a fridge and coffee machine but bed is still a double despite the size of the room. The television didn’t work (volume was either really loud or really quiet and kept randomly changing) told reception and advised there was nothing they could do. Shower was lovely (not an over bath one) but pressure of water wasn’t brilliant. Plenty of free parking - car park looks a bit run down but there was cameras placed around. Staff were really nice except for one girl who was on reception quite a lot when we were there who made no effort to be friendly and very much gave the impression she didn’t want to be there. All other staff were really friendly. There’s no lift and it’s quite a walk to the premier plus rooms if you have mobility issues. Yes I would pay the extra to book a premier plus room but the room would be much better with at least a king size bed and was annoying the tv didn’t work.
- mandysQ3273LY (10/5): REALLY FRIENDLY STAFF - My Mom and I stayed at this hotel Bank Holiday Weekend, All the staff were so helpful during our stay and nothing was too much trouble. Extremely kind and polite. Reception and Cleaning Team were always helpful and friendly. Thank you. Mandy
- 575carolet (10/5): Just perfect!! - We had the best holiday here!! Perfect location at beachfront. Seaview room which was lovely, room was spotless! The Staff were all helpful and very friendly. We had breakfast and our meals there(beefeater) food was always so tasty😋 Would definitely return in the near future...thank you to all the staff!!
- adrianjohnm2015 (10/5): Home from home. - What a superb venue. Located right on the promenade made for a stunning view every morning. Bed and room was excellent. Are in the premises for a couple of meals but the whole promenade is brimming with superb eating establishments throughout the town.
- jilljV3547UH (10/5): Very helpful staff - We were transfered from the other Weymouth premier inn as their restaurant was being demolished so that was good of them as we needed an on site restaurant. Tegan sorted it all out for us and was very helpful. When we arrived our room wasn't ready but we went out for a walk and we were given a complimentary breakfast when we checked in. We also had a premier plus room . The restaurant catered for coeliac so that was very helpful. Staff couldn't do enough for us very pleased with the whole stay. Jill And David
- Companion66350335710 (10/5): Great value for money great nights sleep - Great nights sleep, clean room, friendly staff and plenty of car park spaces. I would stay again as was good value for money.
- Happiness23788071746 (6/5): Nice stay spoilt by poor breakfast - Nice stay spoilt by poor breakfast which was cold and missing expected item such as black pudding and mushrooms. Service fromm behind the food counter was awful
- B1007OWsueh (10/5): Thank you - Thank you to Laura in reception so helpful and kind. Be there weekly sins June 2/3 nights rack week. Restaurant staff including Andy thank you found me alternative menu after so many meals jacket spuds are so nice and well presented
- SusanGullie (8/5): Good location, plenty of parking. - A good Premier Inn with rooms being as you expect for the brand. There is plenty of parking and the location is just a short walk from the seafront. You can easily walk into the town. Dining is at the Brewers Fayre reviewed separately.
- ocassionaltraveller4 (6/5): Pleasant hotel, but shame about the water pressure! - A lovely older Premier Inn, situated very near the seafront, (only about 2 min walk to the seafront, across the road) and right nextdoor to the Weymouth Sealife Centre. It is a little bit out of the centre of the town, but the steady 15 min walk along the seafront into the centre wasn't a chore.
As Premier Inn's go it ticked most of the boxes as to what you get, which is what I like about them as you know exactly what you are going to get. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very accomodating. It was the perfect place to use as a base and a place to sleep for our holiday.
The only negative thing I would say about our stay in this particular Premier Inn was the water pressure in the room wasn't brilliant, which made the shower a little bit poor and also resulted in the toilet taking ages to fill up after being flushed. It took so long that the first time we experienced it we thought the toilet wasn't working properly. We reported it and were told it was a known issue and were assured the toilet would refill eventually.
- Sunshine03132357725 (8/5): Fantastic place to stay nr all amenities and over looking beach 2 minute walk - Yes very clean.
staff very pleasant helpfull.
Nice touches in reception. Especially the extra tea coffee.
Big room eith 2 chairs. Wet room and ground floor request. And paid £15 to access room at 11am which was fantastic and very much needed after a 4am start. And over looking beach.
Had a snooze before going to very good show at theatre less 10 minute walk.
Beach clean and looks Caribbean white sand.
We'll be back.
Thankyou
- Getaway21554479354 (10/5): Whitley bay.Premier Inn. - Lovely Seaview from our bedroom.Adele and Cindy on reception could not do enough for us. We have visited the Whitley bay Premier Inn for years at least 4 times a year Never had a complaint.Everything perfect.Would not recommended breakfast next door in The Beefeater.Greasy hash browns, cold food, uncooked poached eggs..
- carldanielward (2/5): Avoid vile place - Worst hotel I’ve stayed in !! We arrived to wait for 10 mins for someone to arrive at reception to check us in. The room was to right at other end of hotel . We had to shoulder barge the door open as it was sticking to frame - which made it very difficult to lock on the night - the toilet as you can see from pictures wasn’t not cleaned- - paid 200 for 1 nite - we asked for room to be re cleaned. We returned to hardly any change - they had used a toilet brush - but the water in toilet was still dry .. the windows were filthy! View of a car park - then there is the mud filled corridors ! The AC machine was noisey - and smelt so I checked it out - and again the pictures show the filters on the AC unit - we were breathing in !!! Reception was more interested in talking no her phone than asking how our stay was. Just took the cards and said thank you and that’s it !!! Vile place !! Avoid !!
- s2gaskin (2/5): Worst hotel EVER - BEWARE BEWARE HORRENDOUS POSITION
has NO parking nearby . Car park is on an app ..,, didn’t work, machines didn’t work , free after 6 then before 10 am have to go and try for ticket again . We will be leaving before then
- H4314QPnikib (4/5): Poor stay. Wouldn’t recommend - Very cheap & for very good reason! Would have left 1 star if it wasn’t for it being so cheap!
Dark, dingy, seemed to have not been updated since 80’s. No phone charging plugs. Bizarrely a Family room got extremely hot on a cold night, without heating on! No privacy as window opened up on to other rooms on ground floor.
Overall cleanliness possibly ok (Room so old and dark it just felt horrible), except bathroom - big chunk of hair on soap dispenser, black mould, rust and grime around taps.
Brewers Fayre next door was filthy! Never sat at such sticky tables, sticky menus. Bottled drinks not served with glasses. Food standard ‘pub food’.
Hotel receptionist suggested no tables would be available, yet the place was practically empty.
Lessons learnt - cheap for a reason!
- Bcrbabe1 (4/5): I'd stay somewhere else - Room ok ,usual premier in standard.
Reception Staff didn't seem that bothered about interaction with guests.
The brewers fayre restaurant was diabolical.waited nearly 1 hour just for our starters. Breakfast on both days was not the usual premier inn standard. Cold bacon and dried up eggs and beans not worth even half the money charged.
The best thing about the brewers fayre was the manager Stacy...she was lovely and friendly and a definitely asset to tbe place
- D3379EWjaneta (10/5): What an amazing experience - The Hotel was clean, tidy with super sea views and a Beefeater next door, just perfect. The staff were so pleasant, helpful and happy. We hadn't booked in advanced, but were greeted efficienly and all options were carefully explained. Chrissey , in particular, could not do enough for us. (including talking us through how to make the toll payment for the tunnel). She went above and beyond service expectations and had time to chat about the town. She just went the extra mile. Fantastic stay, thankyou.
- DavidandJax (4/5): Too many issues with the room (and room service) - We have stayed in the premier inn Whitley Bay before without issue but on this occasion the experience was way below what we expected - and what we paid for. The front desk staff were lovely but we had numerous issues with the room…only two pillows - both hard - one bedside lamp not working - air conditioning switching itself off fully so the room was uncomfortably hot (it was 26.5 degrees at one point and the outside temperature was 17 degrees) - the toilet seat was loose - requested room service didn’t materialise. All in all out of 5 nights we didn’t sleep comfortably for one!
- redjoolz (8/5): Whitehaven Warmth!! - Standard room - clean, comfortable and quiet. Thermostat broken so used fan but no plug by bed meant you were unable to feel the cooler air so sleep broken by being too warm, even with window open! Carol on reception was brilliant. Very good customer service skills throughout our stay and the bearer of a surprise card and present for.my birthday!! Restaurant a little dated but food good and staff were lovely. A good base for seeing the wonders of the lakes.
- john_l_chambers (2/5): THINK TWICE ! - We'd pre-booked our evening meal for 7.30 at the attached Brewers Fayre, to be greeted with the announcement there'd be an hour's wait for food, after ordering it! Where else can you go in Whitehaven on a Sunday night??? In the event it was an hour and twenty minutes wait! During which time we had to listen to complaint after complaint by customers whose meals hadn't arrived at all, all demaning refunds - understandably. The problem is not the staff, who were apologetic and friendly - under very difficult circumstances -but the staff who should be there but aren't! This seems to be an ongoing and well established problem. If Senior Management can't or won't address this issue then they should close the Inn and stop abusing their paying customers. Very, VERY unpleasant experience. Two previous nights in Cockermouth and Ulverston were less problematic, but there seems to be an established culture of understaffing - as a matter of principle - making life terrible for the staff who are on duty. And the customers!
- Explorer45054159841 (8/5): Better than I was expecting. - Was expecting tge worse after having read previous reviews but was pleasantly surprised. We were on the ground floor in the new part. Very nice room but no air conditioning. They do provide a fan but it was so dusty that we didnt use it. The role would be extremely hot in temperatures above 22c. There's a busstop literally outside that takes you onto town. Would stay here again.
- Luke-n-LauraB (8/5): Always good - You always know what to expect with premier inn and they rarely disappoint, and this was no different!
Easy check in with loads of parking. Rooms are spacious and clean but are a bit dated and could do with a bit of love. It can get a bit noisy but not enough put anyone off.
All in all, good value for money at a convenient location.
- Jane (10/5): - It’s was very nice - missing a lightbulb and trash can needed to be cleaned out before we checked in - staff absolutely lovely
- marklP5362RJ (8/5): The evening staff and the breakfast staff were fantastic - A great friendly team the evening team and the breakfast team were fantastic. 10/10
We were there 7 days, on 4th day we asked if the bed sheets could be changed.
Answer from morning team ( Paula) was they only get changed every three days and no they could not ( would not) as it was policy.
I asked again politely if they could. Answer was a no. “ we are too busy, and policy says we don’t have to”
We had booked the full week and booked breakfast each day. I was not an unreasonable ask.
Shame the best of staff and the worst of staff in the same company.
- jonathansW9978MB (4/5): Poor breakfast - Cooked breakfast was lukewarm/room temperature on 2 of the 3 nights I stayed. This was despite me attending within 5 mins of the breakfast opening time. On the other morning, chef did not attend - still awaiting for the promised refund. No black pudding - despite prominently showing in advertising in the room. Gave more extensive feedback direct but not received any response.
Room relatively comfortable, but corners have been cut in terms of maintenance.
I will not be going back in a hurry.
- nicolahV903FS (4/5): Cheap as chips….but for a reason - Room itself was clean and typical of what you would expect for a premier inn. No towels had been left so first job was to return to reception, no apology given so maybe this is the norm. Hotel very very tatty from the outside, paint work awful, rusty bannisters outside.
Brewers Fayre was terrible, depressing inside. Breakfast cold and no butter for days. Feel sorry for the staff. In the evening its a wait to be served, only one person taking both food and drink orders.
Whitbread needs to sort this place out asap! On a positive, plenty of parking and it was dirt cheap…you certainly get what you pay for!
- O5036XJmandyb (10/5): Perfect for our time away - Staff were excellent, very warm and accommodating. The room was cozy just right on the size for what we needed on our break away. Food was enjoyed every time catering staff were wonderful also.
- niknak262015 (6/5): Not the best premier inn - We tried calling at least 10 times the day before our stay and on the morning of our stay ti notify them that it would be after 10pm when we would be checking in . I ended up emailing and did get a response at 9.30 pm an hour before we checked inn . Waited over 10mins for someone to check us in depite pressing the buzzer several times . Stayed in room 15 was very noisy with what sounded like elephants stomping up and down above us until the early hours and again from 7am on the Sunday morning . Some of the breakfast was just warm
- Calan-uk (2/5): Don't stay here! - I'm basing this review on my last 2 experiences at the Premier inn Whitehaven AKA The Howgate, first time I was put upstairs from reception in the old block, the room was dated and in desperate need of refurbishment, bathroom was the same with stains and smells that shouldn't be in a bathroom. I went to the bar for a drink and a snack before leaving for the town, the bar staff couldn't have been more rude if they had tried, however the young girl who served my food was lovely. I should have learned my lesson however I booked again when visiting family, I honestly believed check in was 2pm, as it was when I stayed in the past, so at 2:30 I asked to check in and without any hesitation was told sorry check in is at 3pm, oh i said, I thought it was 2 , no it's 3 and were very busy. The car park was empty, and there were only 4 cars parked at the neighbouring Brewers Fayre, so there was not much evidence of an influx of guests. End result I drove home and slept in my own bed.
I was once a regular guest here in my time working at Sellafield and back then the reception and bar staff would bend over backwards to make your stay as pleasant as possible, It's a huge shame that those people have moved on and been replaced.
My tip for staying here is don't stay here, there are a few locally ran hotels in the town, and if not try Workington, failing that the travelodge at Cockermouth is far better.
- simoncY8275WD (2/5): Horrific, stay away - This is the worst Premier inn i have been to , we arrived 4.30 on a saturday and were informed no food after 6pm because of short staff, went to the room for a shower it was cold despite running for 15 minutes, food at 5.30 mixed grill average at best undercooked sausages.
In the morning another cold shower despite running for another 15 minutes.
Breakfast, paid for buffet , all hot items cold and i mean cold not luke warm, domestic toasters , dirty coffee machines dirty cutlery , dirty cups
This place is shambolic ,everything is poor .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location
