Guest Reviews
- bethbD7909XP (10/5): Warm and cosy. - Hotel was warm, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Lots of parking.
Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
We ate in the restaurant and my husband who has coeliac diseases was very well catered for with his food freshly cooked to minimise cross contamination.
Will stay again.
- 777sylwiap (10/5): Great stay! - Great hotel. Really clean and very welcoming front desk staff.
Clean and comfortable. Free parking included. Short walk to the city centre.
- andrewrI4984UZ (4/5): Don't use Premier Inn, too expensive not worth it. - Room was cold most of the time, hotel constantly turned off the heating. When we arrived we had half a recycled toilet roll, and towels were hard, after reporting this to reception we received one new 1 ply toilet roll. Booking a Plus room states sweet treats and water daily, this was denied by reception who claimed it was only on the first night. UNTRUE
There seems little point in paying the extra, only to be presented with a room that has stained carpets and cheap soap's that are easily available in most discount stores. Then you have the attached Brewers Fair, no wine glasses, no ice, no working coffee machine for our morning breakfast. Even worst they close a 9pm, with some drinks not available due to no stock and staff that really didn't care if you were their or not.
The food is all prepared in a microwave, and served in or on a plate that is too hot to handle.
Not worth the £500 we paid for a four night stay, never again and have already cancelled two future booking for next year.
- stevecN8180IW (2/5): Not great. Dirty. Dated. - Second time staying here. Booked for me through the company. Rooms are dirty, carpets worn out and haven’t been cleaned. Bathroom is mouldy and door wouldn’t open due to fouling the toilet.
Bed sheets dirty and shower curtain in a poor state.
Connected green king pub is grubby and food is poor.
This is a very poor show from premier inn.
- J9313MWemmaf (4/5): Not up to Premier Inn's typical standards - This hotel is in desperate need of renovation, with damp smells, cracked sinks, and poor bathroom repairs. Bedding cleanliness was as you'd expect of Premier Inn, so OK. Being rained on over breakfast (roof leak) on day 1 and finding multiple hairs in my breakfast on day 2 extended the issues away from the bedrooms.
- pickering_sue (2/5): Give it a miss! - Booked table at 8 30pm by 8 50pm no one had approached to take our drinks or food order.i had 2 find a member of staff to ask for a drink! Never again.will book room but go to mcdonalds.absolute shambles
- L9327LBpaulm (10/5): Just how a Premier Inn should be - We got a very warm welcome on arrival even though it was the middle of the night, the lady on reception was fantastic, very helpful, if I remember correctly, I think she was called Tracey. It was very clean and everything you expect from a Premier Inn
- sharonc001 (4/5): Used to be the top of budget hotels, now the bottom. - Really disappointing visit. Drove 4 hours to arrive at 7.30 and be told the restaurant was closing at 8pm due to a large group arriving at 8.30pm. If I was quick I would be served straight away, rushed to the restaurant (7.40pm) to be told kitchen was too busy and we couldn’t have a table. The restaurant was almost empty. Went for dinner elsewhere and came back for a drink, staff lacklustre, tables dirty and sticky, restaurant still empty. Let bar at 8.45 and the “large group” still hadn’t arrived, we could have eating in that time.
Walking to our room, the corridor and stair looked as though they hadn’t been vacuumed in a week. Premier Plus room… it was cold, two very thin pillows, no blankets, no biscuits/sweets which they are supposed to have, looked like someone had already been in the room and rummaged through the tray, one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, grey single ply toilet paper that looked more in keeping with a hostel or public loo, supposed high speed Wi-Fi that was exactly the same speed as the free Wi-Fi. No one on reception when we arrived or when we went back. “press the bell” sign on the desk permanently, no one answers if you ring as the pager is lying on reception.
Premier inn seems to have steadily gone down hill over the last decade, taking away all the little extras that made it worth while.
- douglaswilcox8 (4/5): not up to past standard - We have used this Premier Inn many times for holiday visits to our family. This however was not up to the normal standard we have had in the past .Out of a three day stay there was no breakfast for one day and for another an alternative to the Premier Inn breakfast was provided ,this was of poor quality .In addition a large party was checked in late with no consideration of quietness etc which gave a disturbed night sleep
- frasergrant2019 (10/5): Absolutely amazing hospitality - After an extremely stressful day—and having my original B&B cancel my booking on the very morning I was due to arrive—I checked into the Premier Inn feeling exhausted and frustrated. Tracey completely turned my day around.
Her hospitality and professional conduct were outstanding from the moment I walked in. She went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcomed and looked after. When I got to my room, I was genuinely surprised and touched to find a small care package waiting for me: peanuts, chocolate popcorn, and a beer. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially after the day I’d had.
Tracey is a credit to Premier Inn. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for guests made all the difference. I’m truly amazed by the level of service I received, and I won’t forget it.
Highly recommended—thank you, Tracey!
- 171hazelt (8/5): Beautiful great hotel - Well, what a beautiful hotel. Spotless. Gorgeous accessible room, very comfy bed, low bath bathroom. Beautiful toiletries included. Staff very attentive and nothing was a problem.
I have dropped a star because I'm disabled and the disabled ramp lift was out of order and made things difficult for me with my mobility scooter, but staff let me use fire exit door. Hopefully before our next visit in March it will be repaired. Also shower curtains don't fit into bath resulting in water spilling over floor making it slippy, not good in disabled room. Overall excellent place...beautiful good at night and breakfast
- 658haydenr (10/5): Great stay - Friendly staff really good sized room which was spotless. The lady on reception was very knowledgeable about the area really can't fault it
- serioussocks (8/5): Peaceful quiet stay 5 mins from M6 -great overnight for Yorkshire to Highlands trip - Very pleased with our night in this hotel , it exceeded our expectations for a motorway stop over . Room was quiet , very clean and a VERY comfortable bed …. So it was even more of a wrench when at 6.45 am the fire alarm went off. It was only for about a minute so presumably a false alarm but as the bed was so comfortable we were still in a very sound sleep at that time .
The restuarant and menu looked very inviting when we arrived but as we had already eaten we didn’t use it .
Next time we stay I would make a point of using it as the light bite menu options looked inviting . Breakfast was a serve yourself buffet with lots of options including a good cooked selection
Would definitely stay again
- Mazzles_25 (6/5): Just average - Corridors had a very strong smell of smoke. Wasn’t fresh as other premier inns are.
Room was a decent size and the bed was comfy as usual.
The cups had hairs on and were sat on a dusty tray. Found hairs in the bed and bathroom as well as mould on the ceiling.
Whoever was in the room above - they were either very heavy footed or the hotel was rickety as it sounded like elephants up there!
It did the job for our stay. We needed sleep effectively and somewhere to store luggage.
We chose this location based on free parking but, if in the area again, would probably choose to pay parking and use a different hotel.
We had a drink at the pub but chose not to eat there based on the cleanliness of tables
- P6297ZGdebbiep (10/5): Enjoyed our stay, no issues - Location great. Comfortable clean and quiet. We were on the second floor. Had the best sleep, and I don't sleep well. Couldn't fault it to be honest. Was nervous as there are a lot of bad reviews but I couldn't reconcile those with our stay.
- mollye791 (8/5): Lovely Experience - We had a really lovely experience at the Premier Inn Carlisle M6 Jct 44. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the service was excellent throughout. Callum and Isla took great care of us — they were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.
- Kelly-welly123 (10/5): Fabulous - Stayed for a night on the way home from a week in Edinburgh. Great location off the motorway surrounded by lots of shops. Easy check in with free parking just put reg into screen. Room was as expected, we’ve stayed in premier inns before always enjoy the bath as it’s much deeper than at home 😊 walked in to find a Halloween gift bag with a bag of sweets and little note. Such a lovely little touch, I love Halloween! Room was spacious, bed was big and comfy and all very clean. Remote didn’t work on tv but wasn’t an issue. Easy check out just put card in box and off we went. Will deffo stay at this location again when visiting Scotland 😊
- O9955HFdavidc (6/5): Noisy again! - We stayed for 1 night on October 28th. The hotel was generally acceptable, but noise levels were not. Had to go to reception and ask them to request the guests upstairs to stop running back and forth repeatedly across their room at 5 .30 in the morning. This building must be timber framed as the sound proofing is very poor and the structure creaking made it worse. No chance of a decent night's sleep here. Ironically, we stayed in another Premier Inn two weeks ago, with noise disturbance during a lot of the night. If you must stay here, I would insist on an upstairs room and hope for the best. Reception did appear to do something, as it went quiet after 6.45am.
- T9171QKhshdh (10/5): 5* - Regularly stay at this hotel when on business, the team are fantastic and really make my stay!
Huge shout out to both Callum and Catalina who seem to be around mostly when I stay, they are both a credit to the team and take interest in getting to know me.
The only downside to the hotel is that the Premier Plus rooms are on the far side of the hotel, but it’s a nice quiet area.
Looking forward to my next visit up to Carlisle.
- Relax04250059848 (6/5): Last minute booking - Last minute need for accommodation so had not prebooked when we arrived advised we needed to book on line not (easy for the elderly) we were successful on the third attempt as app kept saying fully booked.
The room a little jaded but clean and comfortable.
Evening meal in Thyme restaurant had to book as fully booked although predominantly empty tables
Food
Dinner
Nachos nice but could have used side plates
Spinach and ricotta ravioli under cooked and lukewarm
Tomato and chilli linguine again lukewarm garnished with four cold halves of cherry tomatoes
Desert (the best bit)
Triple chocolate brownie with ice cream
Breakfast
Plentiful if a little lukewarm very nice orange juice and coffee
Would we stay here again probably yes but would find somewhere else to eat
- davidmV4550ES (10/5): Phenomenal - I have stayed in many hotels but never came across a staff member like Natasha 5* perfection doesn't cut it exceptional a friendly face the warmest of welcomes helpful in every possible way the attention to detail and the smoothest of check ins and every detail shared and information passed on throughout my stay Natasha was consistently excellent and not just a one time event if I could give Natasha 100 stars i would customer service second to none. I am sure I will never come across another receptionists like natasha as I never have to this day you're definitely unforgettable and for all the right reasons. Thank-you for perfection the world needs 100 of you. Fabulous
- O3039TCrobinm (10/5): Great staff - Sam was great. Really helpful, friendly and nice. He was able to go a bit above-and-beyond to provide excellent customer service to us.
- Caspercat76 (10/5): Always A Welcome Stop - Our usual stop on our way from Southampton to Northern Scotland, always a warm welcome and a spotless room awaits. Never had any issues with this hotel at all, thank you.
- H6899PJsandeepm (2/5): Avoid this hotel if you want to enjoy your stay. - I stayed at this hotel with my two young child, a 3 year old and a 6 year old. The 3 year old has Severe autism. We have stayed at other hotels and he enjoys the change so we decided to book this Premier Inn Carlisle Central North.
To our disappoint. The hotel is very old and the carpets smell and the whole room smells of damp. This smell is so strong it the kids started to cough. When reported this to the person at the front desk. They told me this is due to the age of the hotel and there is nothing that can be done. I am shocked that they can charge so much for a hotel in this condition. The other issue we had was the room was right next to the staircase so people going up and down was heard late into the night and early morning. I reported this to the Premier Inn Guest Relations and they tell me as I did not report the noise during the night they will not give me a refund as its not covered under their a good nights sleep policy. I pointed out once we had managed to settle our boy who has autism. Its not possible for us to open the door to leave as he would run out. BUT clearly the person who is dealing with my feedback has no idea about this and refuses to discuss the matter anymore. So very disappointed with this. I strong recommend to avoid this hotel if your planning on enjoying your time away.
- Expedition518277 (4/5): Worse kind of TRIP! - Previously, I've stayed at many Premier inns over the years especially the one In Hampstead. And something I have noticed when you stay somewhere on a regular basis is the standards. The one at Hampstead was one where I noticed certain standards had dropped, especially in the restaurant area. The service wasn't particularly better either. Having stayed there for several days on a regular basis, at least once a month for a number of years before and after the Covid. so I did notice the demise of what started as a pleasant place to stay lead me to stay away from Premier Inn and chose the Holiday Inn, in Camden. This was important to me as my regular visits were due to Hospital appointments at the Royal free. I haven't needed to stayed at any UK hotels up until now, due to my brother getting married in Gretna Green. So due to most of the nearby hotels not been available or more expensive, we decided at the last minute to book the Premier Inn Carlisle, for convenience, and gave this one a go. The carpark directions to reception where vague as we could not see any Disable parking bays as we seemed to arrive at the back of the hotel. Check in was OK. The room was close to facilities but inappropriate (one double bed ) as it was for me and my Daughter. So we were moved much further away from facilities which left me breathless with the long walk to our room. Having nearly tripped over a carpeted drain cover down one of the longest corridors I have ever seen. l just put it down to tiredness. The next morning for breakfast I wasn't so lucky as I was sent flying along the same corridor having tripped over yet another carpeted drain cover. I didn't realise they were every four feet. I brought it to the attention of manager Stephen, who reported it and took photos. That morning after a poor breakfast we decided to leave Premier inn, and went home after the wedding as my arm was hurting. This has been the WORST experience with Premier Inn, EVER! I hope Premier Inn will take my concerns SERIOUSLY and take action to prevent matters deteriorating in the future.
- Safari59099918430 (10/5): 10/10 would stay again - Amazing! Easy to get to. Great value for money, very comfortable, kids loved every second in the hotel. 10/10 would stay again.
- 596bmd (4/5): Nice room but threatened with a parking fine! - Dodgy location but comfortable room and efficient check in. The big negative was getting a threatening message from the company that runs the car park. I'd signed in my lease car, but they sent the lease company a letter with only one challenge allowed. Therefore I couldn't challenge it or get through to the hotel. When I did speak to someone from the hotel, he accepted no responsibility for the company that premier inn choose to use for their parking. Very poor.
- micahen (4/5): Only location was good - Positive: close to city center, most of employees were nice, spacy bedroom.
Negative: room was not soundproofing at all, could hear everything from upper room, even walksteps and conversations. Guests were noisy in the corridor and no one from the hotel controled it. Bathroom ventilation really noisy.
- Ronnie100mac (2/5): Disappointed - Went to dinner at 7 pm got food at 8:40 after 4+ tables in and out in less than 45 minutes and no explanation to how long it took. The place was disgusting aswell. The toilet in our room was blocked and wouldn't flush. Overall experience 2/10. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.
- kates484 (10/5): Fabulous staff - thanks Tracey - Lovely clean room and Tracey on the desk was amazing as somehow we had messed up our booking!
Very convenient location for the M6
- meganbI4309PT (10/5): Family stop off - Tracey checked us in for our stay and was incredibly helpful and friendly. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful also.
- Fearless628242 (2/5): All just a bit grotty - A warm welcome form teh staff - but that's about where any positivity ended.
The whole place just felt dark and dirty.
There were bogies on the wall of the shower - a lovely gift no doubt left by the previous occupant of the room that simply weren't cleaned by the cleaning staff. There was what must have been several years of grime on the top of the hand wash and shower gel.
Nothing abojut the place felt fresh or clean.
Breakfast itself was ok - but the restaurant also felt like it needed a jolly good clean.
- Ambassador823377 (10/5): Outstanding customer service - The best customer service I have received in YEARS from Natasha (I think) when we arrived late after mistakenly having not completed a booking at another Premier Inn nearby.
Thank you for looking after us so well!
Ps complimentary wine and kids sweets were a lovely bonus- thanks!
- siobhant411 (6/5): Needs updating - The staff were super friendly and very helpful (as much as they were able to be).
We requested a late check out and were told that was not a service offered by the hotel at all.
The carpets in the corridors were filthy and very badly stained.
The carpet in our room was frayed and dirty.
There was no air con in the room, which was hot and stuffy despite the window being left open.
On the plus side, the hotel put out free fruit, water and snacks fo the half marathon runners, which was a lovely touch.
- L7277ZZliamw (10/5): Top notch - Absolutely brilliant experience really helpful would definitely recommend service always top quality really nice staff Tracey was great rooms we at a very high standard too definitely stay again
- robertpH1635FP (10/5): Thumbs up - Excellent service and very cheerful a joy to stay Tracy is very helpful anything I need just a tiptoe away thank you and keep it up
- mikeaZ3333IU (10/5): Excellent stay. Highly recommend. - I had a wonderful stay at Premier Inn. The room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing visit. The staff were all very welcoming, and I’d especially like to mention Tracey, who went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Her friendliness and professionalism really stood out and made a great impression. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would be very happy to stay here again.
- chriscW3573LN (10/5): Proper Brilliant - Stayed 2 weeks. Brilliant location for the whole of Carlisle. All the staff are fantastic, Tracey in particular was extremely helpful.
- elizabethcolclougj (6/5): Ordered chicken skewers in a wrap and as the meal cooked the wrap went rock hard so couldn't bite into it disappointed - Poor service one lady doing reception bar and restaurant. I did point this out to the lady but she didn't really make a comment.
- P3183ZLdavidh (4/5): Mixed experience - Rooms, hotel and staff excellent. Restaurant had 11 items not available from the menu!!! Apparently a new menu will be available soon but that did not help us.
The stair lift was out of action and it was out of action last year and others said it was 4 years since it had worked!
- HuskeyD (6/5): 5 star rates for a minus 3 star tired accommodation. - Tired premises and way over priced. better and cheper accommodation can be obtained in the city centre.
The puplic bar next door has little stock and closes around 9.00pm
- Olivermac (2/5): Shocking if there was a minus star rating it would be minus 5 stars + - This is the worst premier inn I have experienced, from dirty floors to human Faeces in the toilet in a supposedly clean room, blood on the pillow, Dirty bathroom taps, Dirty shower gel holders, Paint peeling, dirty skirting boards, Room chair did not sit on because it was extremely dirty, laminate peeling away from the desk top,Fully stained Carpet and the list can go on and on. And about the Restaurant next door outside seating areas smelling of cannabis, had one meal ended up been sick throughout the night.
- 606nigele (6/5): A handy stopover but a disappointing experience. - Overnight stay on a journey. Overall, the hotel is presentable, but standards have been slipping since our previous visits.
There were no glasses in the bedroom or bathroom for water.
I had to ask at reception for more coffee and milk as there was little provided.
A new menu has been introduced the previous week so there was a reduced choice of food on offer. Having bought the meal deal, it was disappointing that the choice was limited- ever not told of this before paying the deal. Why introduce a new menu before you can deliver all the choices?
I think it unlikely that we will stay again.
- V9545CLjamiep (10/5): Very helpful employee Natasha - I thought I’d booked online but the payment hadn’t processed fully. I turned up at the hotel at 00:30 after a 6 hour plus journey. Upon finding the reservation hadn’t got though i asked if there were any rooms available. There weren’t as it was fully booked. NATASHA behind the desk went above and beyond to look for other hotels on the system to see if they had any space. Without any luck all the other premier inns were fully booked too. She managed to call another hotel in the nearby area and she found one for me. I’m Very grateful indeed as she didn’t have to help me to such an over expected level. Thanks very much Natasha!!!!
- maxn358 (4/5): A less than premier stay at Premier Inn - Another less than premier review about a Premier Inn. Not much good I can say about this experience. On arrival, the restaurant was not accepting any bookings for meals due to a technical fault. Once in the room, the curtains were broken and hanging off the rail. I managed to best part fix this though. Then in the shower, that had another “special” feature letting water spray out in random directions from the water pipe.
- Titch-the-Witch (8/5): A good place to stay not far from Cardiff centre - We stayed here for two nights after our arrival at Bristol Airport and before heading further west along the coast. Premier Inns are pretty standard, usually clean with comfortable beds. This one was no different. The receptionist on our arrival, a Hungarian young man, was very friendly and helpful.
We appreciated that we could walk to the city centre easily from here.
On the downside, I wish the shower hose wasn't fixed and you have to request to have your room cleaned if you stay more than one night. The free WiFi is not very reliable.
- Victoria6994 (10/5): University Open day visit - Stayed for one night for Cardiff University open day. You get 24 hour free parking just make sure to register your reg in the machine in reception. We left our car in the carpark and walked to the University, approx 25 min walk.
There is a Lidl opposite which we found useful to buy a quick breakfast snack.
Beware the pub next door shuts at 10pm. We arrived at 9.45pm just in time for last orders.
Perfect for a 1 night stay. Usual premier inn room layout and great location for our visit.
- Dain (8/5): - My only negative is that the hotel doesn't have a lift, which my mother really needs, and we were on an upper floor so she struggled on the stairs.
- SWDGY (2/5): Convenient, room too hot, shower not accessible, hairdryer kept cutting out - Convenient location for business, and freep parking, but that's where the good things end.
The temperature in the room was very high at 26 degrees, couldn’t be altered, and reception weren't interested other than to say "put the fan on". OK- put the fan on and you have the choice of being unable to sleep because of the noise of the fan, or switch it off and be unable to sleep because of the high temperature.
The shower was in the bath, therefore not accessible.
The hairdryer kept cutting out, so it took three times longer than normal to dry hair.
- C6789PWdonnal (10/5): Great service and standards - Ideal location just outside the city so a nice peaceful area, friendly helpful staff, parking free but you must register your vehicle to ensure you don’t get a fine, usual procedure for somewhere so close to a city centre, signage informing about this very clear and receptionist also ensured we had registered, advertised without air con so aware this was an older hotel, clean to premier inn standards however corridors need a bit of attention and refreshing from Maintenance but overall a great base for cardiff.
- Joboult (2/5): Awful - We usually go for premier inn as has the family room, good breakfast and you know what you will get.
I can honestly say this is THE WORST premier inn we've stayed at. Room smelled of smoke and wet dog. All beds pushed together no space around them. Nothing was clean, all a bit 'sticky'. Stained desk chair really nasty. Stained carpets all up the hall. Just a very grubby hotel. People obviously smoking weed in rooms and predictably the fire alarm had us all out of bed at 10pm so thanks whoever that was.
Next morning we hadn't booked breakfast so on a Thursday morning were told sternly they weren't accepting walk ins! No space even later in the morning. So we went to the premier inn cardiff bay instead which was the best move ever. So wish we had booked this premier inn instead.
We will not be back here!
- AndyxTinax (8/5): Comfortable but WiFi rubbish - Good location, convenient just off the M6. We had a Premier Plus room which was comfortable and had enhanced facilities. All except the heavily advertised upgrade to the WiFi. ‘Ultimate WiFi included, stream and browse quickly’. Absolutely no signal in our room at all. Very disappointing. Shame, because everything else was spot on.
- 387nicholag (10/5): Tracey went above & beyond - We arrived for one night on Saturday 30th August after doing some shopping in Carlisle we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception called Tracey she quickly checked us in & said the restaurant attached to the hotel was really busy so told us of two places close by that were really nice even rang one of places for us to get us booked in unfortunately they didn't answer the phone but we decided to walk to The Coach & Horses we all had a lovely meal & reasonably priced,
Also a lovely lady was on Reception in the morning whilst we were having breakfast I mentioned to my son about there not being a coffee machine this lady told me to ask the staff & that they would make me one which they did.I love a froffy coffee with my breakfast
Well done we will definitely visit again as we only live in Lancaster
- joymP2343YD (10/5): Nice overnight - Nice Premier Inn for an overnight stay, great staff and good reception service. Room was spacious. Free car parking useful.
- Excursion623739 (6/5): Good but some things missing food wise. - Hotel good BUT some foods not available, pizza. At breakfast cook said no scrambled eggs available as take too long to cook. Black pudding ran out too. Presume that took too much effort as well! Rest of breakfast very good but one of our family massively would have preferred scrambled eggs to greasier fried ones.
- xlilangel4lyfx (10/5): Fantastic Stay - We stayed overnight here on a short stay on the way to Gretna and was pleasantly surprised. The outside does not do the inside and the staff justice. We decided to upgrade on arrival to Premier Plus which is a must and had a more than comfortable stay, air con is in the plus room. The shower was fantastic and bed truly superb. A quiet night sleep as well. Breakfast had plenty of choices and cooked deliciously. Reception and breakfast staff deserve an award for their truly superb customer service and making sure that we had everything that we needed. Plenty of car parking spaces around the entire building, remember to register your car. Thank you to all the staff, we may be back in the future and will recommend this premier inn to all.
- Explore66963027169 (2/5): Poor service, poor food and filthy room. - I usually rate Premier Inn highly, but this hotel was way below par... After a long motorbike ride, all I needed was a shower, a good meal and some sleep. On entering my room, it was obvious that the floor had not been vacuumed and on going into.the bathroom for my shower, I found a used (still damp) towel hanging on the door and two pairs of dirty underpants on the floor... On showing this to the receptionist, he didn't seem too bothered. He just mumbled something about housekeeping and nonchalantly offered me a refund on my meal deal... The Brewers Fayre next door wasn't much better, it was understaffed with only the new manager and one other person waiting on tables and working the bar... And the food was mediocre at best. Breakfast was much the same as above... All in all not the best experience and I shall not be using that particular hotel again...
- afriyiep (10/5): Great service - Good value for money. Great service. Lots of options for breakfast. Comfy bed. Gets the basics right for what you pay. First time staying here and I have no complaints.
- stalboy (6/5): Hot stuff !! - Agree with the number of people who have remarked on how hot this PI is. OK, they have put fans in the room, but they are pretty loud to add to the noise from the busy road at the rear. Heaven only knows how hot things must have been in the recent heatwaves.
Staff are helpful and cheerful, but the place is in need of a redecoration job and the floors should be cleaned better. We noticed that a robot is used to hoover the corridors, but obv they do not work on stairs, which are absolutely filthy as a result.
Breakfast was standard PI fare, though the pub in which it was served was a bit grubby and also unbearably hot.
- Sightseer639103 (8/5): Great location - Great location for our trip. Very good parking, really friendly pub attached. Nice quick breakfast service. Good stay.
- j02711 (4/5): Worst Prem inn I have stayed at - Too hot too handle - First positives - decent sized room, free car park, very quiet. 30mins walk from town, flat walk so doable in the summer probably wouldn't be a good idea in the winter.
Cleanliness was average definitely a rushed job but beds were clean even if plug hole and floors weren't 100%.
The reason I wouldnt stay again and the low rating is due to sleep quality. Although I appriciate it is advertised as no air con and they do provide a fan the whole hotel is unbearably hot. The window was open when we checked in, we left it open all the time we were out (got back at 11.30pm) and left it open all night and the fan on all night also. The room never cooled. We slept on top of the covers and still couldn't get any cooler.
Breakfast also let the hotel down only the black pudding and eggs on the buffet were hot. Bacon and sausages were replaced while we were waiting and were cold straight away.
Not the normal premier inn quality.
