Guest Reviews
- ScotonAlderney (10/5): A perfect nights rest - As with many Premier Inn hotels this one was exactly up to standard. Previous reviews said it was tired but despite the building of the new hotel block we were not interrupted. The hotel absolutely fine. The bedroom was comfortable without anything wrong within it. A typical Premier Inn night with a comfortable bed nice slept well. The breakfast in the restaurant booked in as the continental it was absolutely up with everything else. Helpful, cheerful staff and we could not fault it in anyway..
- 189ayannak (10/5): Fabulous customer service - Lovely staff, helpful and polite. Stay was as expected, clean rooms - good value. Nothing was too much, had everything I needed and would come stay again.
- benbU6218XV (10/5): Great team - My partner and I had a lovely experience when we visited here recently. The whole team were great, informative, and answered all our questions. We would definitely stay here again.
- leebX7433YV (10/5): Love nights stay - Premier Inn delivers exactly what you expect: clean, reliable, and efficient stays. Every location feels consistent, the beds are genuinely excellent, and you can always count on a comfortable night’s sleep. Polegate is no exception to this.
- DanielS2889 (6/5): Hotel Good, Breakfast poor. - Hotel itself was fine, but exiperence was let down by fact breakfast was in a Hungry Horse across the car park. Despite booking a 15 minute time slot for breakfast, we still had to wait 50 mins after ordering for our food to arrive. Felt really sorry for parents around us trying to keep kids occupied whilst waiting for their food. Staff in Hungry Horse were also rude and unhelpful.
- chrislT4271WG (2/5): Room not serviced - Expensive (booked direct).... Room not serviced, cleaned, towels replaced or refreshed with tea or coffee during the stay.
- cpettit6 (10/5): A good stop over - We stayed for one night and were very happy with the room and the restaurant. Enjoyed the breakfast very much. The meal deal is good value too
- constantinec988 (6/5): Polegate Premier Inn Eastbourne - Polegate Premier Inn Eastbourne. The staff were friendly and helpful in a somewhat unusual situation. As there is a massive building upgrade going on now and when we stayed. No proper food restaurant, nor bar facilities. The minimal efforts made did not really fill the gap for the loss of service to the hotel residents during our stay, so other external venues were frequented by my wife and I. Our checkout was straight forward. Pack cases check room for personal items and drop electronic key at the reception desk. Other than this excitement our stay was pretty average as usual for Premier Inn. Bit lack-lustre and ordinary satisfactory bed, heating and quiet.
- 310abbies (10/5): Highly recommend - Highly recommend this hotel, I had a lovely stay here! Rooms were a high standard of clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Very easy to find in a nice area too. Will definitely stay here again.
- fionapA7733HK (6/5): Pitch black car park - Stayed 3 nights (Thurs to Sat). Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was better than some other premier inn we have stayed before. Some bleach spray here and there would have removed some of the moulds or just better bathroom ventilation fan? Had a ground floor room facing building work opposite but absolutely no sound to disturb sleep from the building work. BUT....room was an average 24 degree C which was slightly too warm at times. Opening the window helped as it was below 10 degree C outside. We would have kept it open if we were not on the ground floor and if the room was not facing the main entrance! But with window closed, heard nothing from outside. Overall, a good enough stay for what we paid for. The only thing that was not acceptable is the lack of lighting in the car park. Pitch black area. I felt unsafe getting out of the car. Premier inn should really should have fix that as a matter of urgency for their customers' safety.
- hilayh (8/5): Clean, comfy and yes, we'd stay there again. - Two adults and two children (grandparents and granddaughters) stayed two nights in a family room. The beds were clean, comfortable and warm and the purple nightlight option proved very useful for one of our little ones. One adult used the restaurant one evening and reported a very limited menu. Whilst we didn't need to use the bath/shower, I would rather see showers with adjustable height for shower heads, particularly for children, and this head was a fixed one. The huge plus for us was Barry on reception! He was fantastic - couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful to all of us, especially the kids. The guy deserves a massive thank you and recognition from management. The real test is would we stay there again - yes, we definitely would!
- JillLeom (6/5): Too hot and too noisy but good response with refund from Premier Inn - Unfortunately there were several negatives to our 2 night stay - the temperature of the room, which could not be turned down and if the window was opened, the traffic noise was very intrusive; and noise from upstairs. This was so bad on the second night (sounded like people running, balls bouncing) that we complained to reception and the receptionist went up to the room above us, but all was quiet then and nobody answered his knock. There was then quiet for about 10 minutes but then the noise started up again. We decided we could not face a night of possible no sleep and so packed up and left, driving through the night for 6 hours to get home.
The positive event was Premier Inn giving us a refund of the full price for the one night without any quibble. I filled in a complaint form under their guarantee of a good night's sleep, although I didn't hold out much hope, having read previous reviews of refund attempts. Within a few days they responded with an apology and a refund on to my card.
Of course we would have preferred the stay to go smoothly (as it has done in the past when we have stayed there) but at least we received compensation easily and promptly. Having read that you must complain at the time the noise happens in order for the guarantee to apply, this is exactly what we did and made sure the receptionist logged our complaint. I would recommend anyone else having problems with noise to do likewise, but I don't think the guarantee applies to excessive room heat or external noise.
So well done to Premier Inn for honouring the guarantee, but perhaps something could be done about the thermostats in the rooms and a warning given about the road noise affecting certain rooms.
- 476sherreel (8/5): Would stay again. - Good location, atmosphere and reception. Tired rooms and hallways but clean. Quiet location even though lots of building work going on around.
Lacks restaurant and bar facilities daytime and late evening.
- Marrat15 (8/5): One week in Eastbourne - Large room, comfortable bed, good blackout curtains, good shower and friendly staff at reception. BUT both bedside lamps were not working from the start of our week's stay, one even without a bulb and although we informed the staff several times nothing was done about it. Also the carpets in the hallways and stairways need to be cleaned more often or diligently.
- chris021971 (10/5): Birthday Girl Get Away - We have stayed at this hotel a few times now and has became our favourite goto destination the staff are always friendly and welcoming the rooms are always clean and comfortable and homely if you book a stay at this hotel you won’t be disappointed
- M6004IMsarahd (8/5): Clean, comfortable room - I had a clean, comfortable room. This Premier Inn is across the road from a petrol station with a small Asda & also a Macdonalds. I can't comment on the restaurant as I didn't eat there. There is building work going on at present, but it didn't spoil my stay & it was still easy to park. I wish people staying would think about others, and close all doors quietly!
- MH3775 (8/5): A surprisingly pleasant stay - We were pre-warned of a boiler issue affecting some rooms, and the staff on the phone were sympathetic and offered us a refund, a rebooking at another hotel, or a complimentary breakfast if we continued to stay there. We took the latter offer.
On arrival, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had already been moved to a room where the boiler problem would not be an issue. When we arrived in the room, we were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary wine and snacks as a thank you for our understanding.
I have only dropped the rating down to 4 because, like so many other sites there is no provision for electric vehicle charging.
- Seaside47596083220 (4/5): Excellent staff, very poor accommodation. - Great staff who gave us a first class experience
The room was a huge disappointment.
We were informed it didn’t have air conditioning so we took two small fans for each side of the bed. It was a shock to learn there was only one plug on the right hand side of the bed. Why provide a room in the 21st century with one bedside plug says quite a lot about the hotel chain.
Our stay was four nights and it was ruined thanks to an outdated room. Not only few on plugs, but no chair to relax in. Add to that disappointment with the fact they only provided one towel for a double room booking. We know it’s easy to ask for another towel, but we didn’t realise until the following morning when we wanted to use the shower. Should the guests start to check for enough towels when they check in?
The room was very spacious, so there was plenty of room to provide a a couple of chairs and a small table.
The shower was a scary experience. To access the shower you need to climb into a huge tub without any handrails this was very difficult. Why they don’t provide handrails No bathmat so you have every chance of slipping.
The premier Inn might be ideal for a one night stay, but anything more and we will be looking at alternatives.
- TanikoA (10/5): Great staff 👍 - I stayed here one night for work and I must say that it was the best stay that I have ever had at a budget hotel. All the staff were pleasant and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable and the dinner and breakfast surprisingly good. I will stay here again next time I am in the area.
- N1403XTjot (8/5): Family wedding - Great service we had a friendly welcome from the staff on duty really helpful we had a few questions and they were patient and understanding and extremely helpful we had a vegetarian 2 celiac’s 2 dairy free and one with a nut allergy nothing was too much trouble to accommodate the various dietary requests the new Social eating area is great the staff in there are great and so friendly we will definitely be returning to this premier inn again as we have family living near by again a massive thank you to all staff on duty Fromm 21/8/25-23/8/25
- 50suzyd (4/5): The Premier Inn that Lenny Henry forgot - Staying at this hotel is like being amidst a comedy sketch show set in the worst hotel that I’ve stayed in.
Firstly, building works, it’s such a drab place and think it actually helps it’s in a building site, takes either eye off the rest of the run down drab place.
Secondly, the restaurant, Ange offers a show stopping performance of the miserable, it’s all too much trouble waitress. Stressed, over worked and under paid attitude, her life would be much improved if it wasn’t for customers.
The food is a huge choice of 4 main dishes, the katsu was definitely a microwave special, all served with the atmosphere of a doctors waiting room. It’s a first for me that I needed a knife to eat the rice.
Lastly, the rooms, you normally can’t go wrong with Premier Inn…. Except for Polegate! No air con, leave the window open and it stinks of the fryers in the kitchen below and you hear the traffic outside from the A27.
I normally stay in Premier Inn Eastbourne, do not make the same mistake, this is NOT the same. This is not Eastbourne.
- alionav714 (8/5): Confort - I was surprised that we can do check in at any time. Family room was comfortable and we had four bedroom without extra payment.
- David (8/5): Good value - Breakfast at adjoining venue was excellent and as was evening meals.
- Roam41304034658 (2/5): Sleepless night at the premier inn Eastbourne - Stayed in room 206, broken window with no handle, unable to close during night, noise from road outside, I filled in online complaint, without any responce from premier inn. Whar happened to the good nights sleep guarantee?
- Sally46150 (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - I travel for work a lot and stay in lots of standard mediocre hotels. When I travel for holidays I like a little bit of luxury. How surprised I was by this little gem. It’s very unassuming. Located within a services area with a local Asda express & McDonald’s. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much. But, the hotel was very clean, the staff especially in the small restaurant were the most loveliest, helpful people I think I have ever encountered in a budget hotel and some non budget hotels. The room had a very powerful fan and despite the heatwave outside maintained a cool temperature. They don’t offer a 5* menu but what budget hotel do? But, what I did have was cooked very nicely and was hot. I’m not a breakfast person but again all very nice including very fresh pastries. Overall I would 100% recommend.
- MrsJAM5 (6/5): Overall Disappointing - The communal areas of the hotel were needing the carpets hoovered and overall lacked a general feel of cleanliness. Our room smelt musty and also despite it being a non-smoking room, it smelt of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was clean but the chairs in the bedroom were all marked and stained. It was very noisy at night with the traffic from the adjoining main road and prevented us from getting to sleep for a long time which wasn't good as we had a funeral the next day. Overall very disappointing and the hotel had a feel of overall tiredness.
- simono1958 (6/5): Maybe not the best choice for crem after all - For a Premier Inn this is a litte bit disappointing. Best thing is the staff on reception. Worst thing is the state of the Mill, the carpark and poorly weeded landscaping and the slow service at breakfast. But it's cheaper than others. Some friends stayed at a nice place on the front and we will do that next time. The location of this one isn't that convenient. It is billed as convenient for crematorium but actually if you have time to spare you may prefer to have a walk by the front in other clothes first before finally changing and then driving to the crematorium. (By the way, need a new category on survey since I don't class going to a funeral as either leisure or business)
- Curious30694763763 (2/5): Drab, depressing hotel! - This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I booked the Premier Inn as they are usually clean and fresh, but the Polegate one seems to have dropped off the radar. It was so drab and dated and our room absolutely stank of cheesy feet!
There were a few of us staying there for a wedding and everyone reported the same feedback.
I had breakfast on the first day but it was such poor quality, I cancelled it for the second day.
- Doghank01 (6/5): OK but not great. - The room was well equipped and everything worked.
The building looked a bit tired and needed a bit of TLC.
the staff were lovely.
- Pioneer05549926489 (6/5): Poor Breakfast - Breakfast is poor. Much of what was stated on the menu was not available as part of a set meal. You are given a timeslot at reception to have breakfast then when you get there things have run out from the day before. Don't ask for beans or egg on toast as you have to make your toast and hope the eggs come at the same time.
- F1899IKleahh (2/5): Avoid - not family friendly - Avoid. Ridiculous early check-in policy where it cannot be booked in advance and then told on arrival that only 5 rooms are allowed to check-in early and that they were at capacity. We had driven for 4+ hours with a toddler are weren’t allowed to pay extra for early check-in despite the room being available.
Room was below standard. No soap in dispenser, bathroom light not working and poo stains on carpet of the family room.
Poor parking options.
Avoid avoid avoid. Below standards of other Premier Inn’s - will never use again.
- gaynorc442 (2/5): A gross disappointment - Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Recent Stay – Request for Refund
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this location was not being maintained to your usual standard. The hotel sign was obscured by overgrown hedgerows, making it difficult to locate. The adjacent pub appeared shabby and uninviting, and the car park itself was in poor condition, with gravel scattered across the surface and overgrown shrubs giving an overall impression of neglect.
While the receptionist was polite and check-in was straightforward, the room itself was a disappointment. The smell of bleach was overpowering—so strong that it caused me a mild headache—and the curtains were hanging off the rail. I am unsure how this was missed during any pre-arrival inspection. The receptionist did attempt to rectify the situation by using a machine to reduce the odour and reattaching the curtains while we vacated the room, but we were left wandering the area unfamiliar and struggling to find somewhere suitable to wait.
We initially tried the pub next door, but it was dirty, poorly presented, and completely uninviting, leaving us without a place to eat or relax.
In the morning, breakfast was served in the same pub, and again, the experience was disappointing. The selection was minimal, the set-up disorganised, and one staff member referred to guests as “darling” repeatedly, which I found inappropriate and unprofessional. We left after having just two slices of toast each.
Overall, the stay was a let-down in every respect. For a cost of £193, I was frankly shocked at the poor standard and feel the experience was not reflective of the Premier Inn brand I have trusted for years.
- 287paulinec (4/5): What a let down! - Whilst this Premier inn met our needs, the Mill pub seriously let this hotel down. The hotel was clean and we were pleased that there were fans in the room. The room would benefit from an additional comfy chair as only one is provided. Like many Premier Inns, the room would also benifit rom a mini fridge. On the plus side when I said that the hairdryer didn't work this was rectified immediately. The car parking was OK and at least they had electric charging points.
The staff were helpful and gave advice on where to park in town and info about the buses.
The breakfast times 7.00 -9.00 meant that we had to be up early. We were on holiday and wouldn't get up for breakfast that early!
Oh The Mill ! This place is in an awful state and in need of renovation. It was disgusting and dirty!
For our first breakfast they had No Bread ! The milk had no lid on the jug and you had to look twice for a clean mug. Knives and forks had dried on food. Some days the cereal was limited and on our last day my cooked breakfast order was forgotten! I re-ordered but by the time it came we had to leave. No we won't be back !
- PaulHarman13 (8/5): Good value for money - Staff at reception were friendly, room was perfectly clean. Room would benefit from air con but a fan had been provided that was adequate. Breakfast was really good and staff again friendly.
- aproposltd (8/5): Conveniently located - Simple and efficient hotel. Clean but needs a little TLC. Although there is a renovation happening the disruption is limited between 10-6pm. The staff are friendly although strangely they insist on you making a reservation for dinner and the space isn’t busy. The soap dispenser in my room is rusty which was weird. But the room is big enough and fairly comfortable.
- 616billyb (8/5): great location for a trip to Eastbourne - This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we would return again.
It is in a really good location and free carparking is ideal
The staff are very helpful, friendly and hardworking. Our room was clean on arrival, as too the actual hotel. The corner of the carpark was littered with rubbish and we informed a young lady who was working on the reception (25/5/25), she was very apologetic and immediately went out to pick it all up.
We had a family room for 3 nights, we took our niece, nephew (ages 9 and 7) and granddaughter, aged 1 year and 2 months
We were provided with 1 double bed, 2 singles and a cot.
The space was alittle tight and this was expected considering these rooms don't normally accommodate cots.
It was warm at night, we had the window opened and also Premier Inn provided a decent sized fan which made the temperature comfortable.
There is no onsite restaurant, so the Hungry Horse pub next door provides the breakfast. Surprisingly, the breakfast was good and we ate there one evening and this was also decent.
Eastbourne and the surrounding area is a wonderful place to visit. We would leave the hotel earlyish in the morning and return 7/8pm.
The kids would be tired and fall asleep not long after and this is why having little space in the room didn't bother us.
Prices for Premier Inn are good value and they're are better if booked a couple months in advance
- Char32Nonington (6/5): Disappointed - Negatives....hard pillows, only one bath towel for 2 of us, stains on stairs that had not been washed for sometime, very hot room 23 degrees, very noisy traffic, indifferent staff. Plus side...reasonably priced, comfy bed, 10 mins to Eastbourne
- kayes2022 (6/5): Lovely staff . Needs an upgrade - Really lovely helpful staff but it needs an upgrade . All the carpets are stained . No lift, so we struggled to get bags up stairs . Noisy fans rather than air conditioning . Lots of MacDonald’s rubbish around the front . Good breakfast but evening meal choice was very beige and all drinks were in cans . I guess the building work next door is part of improvements being made . Hope it sorts this out !
- F7207YKdonnal (10/5): SHORT STAY - GREAT LOCATION AND FREE PARKING
ROOM CLEAN AND QUIET
SHOWER HAD PLENTY OF HOT WATER AT ALL TIMES.
OPPOSITE IS A PUB SO NO TRAVELING NEED FOR A QUICK BIT AND DRINK
TAXI INTO TOWN COST £12 AND LOADS OF RESTAURANTS
WE STAYED FOR THE EASTBOURNE CAR SHOW AND WOULD RETURN TO THIS HOTEL
- mrsjanh (6/5): Disappointing - Stayed at many premier inns including this one before this latest visit. Have to say it was a little disappointing. I really don't underatand why they are giving preference to building a new annexe rather than concentrating first on updating existing rooms. This has to be the worst room experience we have had at premier inn. Table lamp not working, matress on bed in need of replacement, sheet on bed not big enough, lid on bin in bathroom did not close down. Also at breakfast on the first morning the milk at the tea/cofee machine appeared to be off because we had white lumps floating about on top of the tea.
- 285geraldineh (6/5): Just ok - It would have been useful to know that there were no lifts in the building. We were offered a ground floor room because of this but with a sofa bed which I was not happy to accept-my mistake as should have booked an accessible room. The room we had was ok but dated. The carpet was dirty. The shower leaked all over the floor because the shower curtain fittings were broken. The breakfast was ok but although we had booked a 9am slot-the food had run out which resulted in a long wait for it to be replenished. Also didn’t like watching a member of the kitchen staff eating sandwiches in the kitchen and then serving food without washing their hands. Overall it was ok for what we paid. Staff were friendly but appeared to be inexperienced-perhaps a more professional approach to guests would be better particularly checking in for breakfast.
We also didn’t like having to walk past a huge pile of dirty laundry at the bottom of the stairs.
The outside area is shabby with faded plastic plants in the planters. Not a good first impression. The outside was filthy -we almost turned around to find somewhere else when we first arrived. I know it’s under going refurbishment but regardless of this it wouldn’t take much to clean up outside.
Overall would we stay here again? No. Improvement could be made in many areas- maybe a stronger management team in place who would take pride in the hotel and instilling a professional approach from staff.
- Roam15970692776 (6/5): Okay but you don't get what is advertised - I really wanted to like this hotel, the first of a number we have stayed at in Germany. Unfortunately it wasn't great. Firstly it advertises as having air conditioning but that's only turned on seemingly when the temperature is hot. Fair enough you think but the rooms are incredibly hot even when the temperature outside is 5°c as it was when we stayed. Opening the windows (which only open a crack anyway) meant the extremely noisy streets mean you either suffer with the heat or get woken by the trams/busses/other traffic which is pretty much 24 hours. I raised all of this with the receptionist and was told nothing could be done. For the first time I decided to claim the premier Inn guarantee but was told I should have asked to move rooms, albeit I did and for the air conditioning to be turned on. I cannot recommend this hotel at this time of you want to sleep!
- Hebamahgoub85 (6/5): Good stay, AC is a problem! - Generally, it was great stay. I was solo and was given a triple room which provided me with plenty of space. The room was clean, except for some hair strands here and there....It was 30 plus degree Celsius and the AC was barely functioning. It was working, but not really cooling. The receptionists all politely admitted that it was somehow not cold enough for the heat and all guests had the same concern. I personally managed, but had my friend been with me who does not tolerate heat been with me we would have probably looked for alternatives. I stayed at Premier Inn Munich before it and Premier Inn Berlin after in and the AC was perfect.
