• StellaM1083 (10/5): Fabulous stay - Stayed in this hotel after a concert. The most friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in everyone was absolutely lovely and super accommodating. The breakfast was lovely and fresh poached eggs made to order lovely. I am a frequent traveler round the world and have never been made so welcome. The staff are 5 stars the room was clean and we had a lovely sleep in a comfy bed.

The staff are not just professional but they went above and beyond and we cannot recommend them enough.

Love the premium extras, eg coffee machine and chocolate. Bathroom needs refurb; bath panel badly water damaged. Car parking £3. Although the Brewer’s Fayre is on site, there is no covered walkway so it is a wet walk for dinner and breakfast when the weather is bad. The food and service was good. Overall good for an overnighter and great value for money.

Just a one night stay on this occasion but the usual high standard . Emma was really on the ball at my arrival and after I ordered a takeaway that was delivered early Emma was good enough to bring it to my room ! Also later rescuing me again when I had a struggle with the vending machine ! She’s a star ! 😀

The kitchen staff is very nice and the reception staff is also very nice and friends . The room also had everything I needed and the beds were well made. Thank you and I'll be back when I have the opportunity to travel to London.
• 752jenniferu (2/5): Cockroach in bed - There was a cockroach in my bed discovered by my one year old. It was about 12.30am and the hotel were unable to provide me with an alternative room as they were fully booked. I know in similar circumstances other hotels would at least help you find alternative accommodation however this was not the case here. Could not get a refund on the spot. Was given a number to call which turned out to be the wrong number. Once I got through to the right number they did process my refund without too much hassle at least.
• kaytee786 (10/5): Will definitely stay here again - The rooms were nice and clean. We love staying at Premier Inns because the beds are so comfy and the breakfast is always lovely too. They cater for children too & there's always plenty of variety too. A special thank you to Sian & Sal who made our stay even better. They are the most friendliest & polite members of staff I've ever come across at Premier Inn. I'm always nervous about breakfast times with young children, especially toddlers but they made it a breeze & my children loved them both. Before we even sat down, they got some crayons and colouring ready, played with them & asked them what they wanted to eat.

If you need to use a laptop for work or want to stream TV through a device I recommend you never stay here. Internet is literally non existent. The Brewers fayre attached to it for breakfast and dinner served food I wouldn't feed a stray dog.

Really welcoming and friendly staff, especially one of the members of the night staff, his name us Oden, nothing was to much trouble if we needed anything and he was a really nice chap to talk to!

Ideal if going to a concert in the nearby Memo Arts Centre as it's only a 10 min walk. - This hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the old docks. It was very clean and the receptionist was very friendly on arrival. Checked in online so arrival was quick and we were told where to go to find out room. Our room was huge with a large very comfy double bed. The bathroom was also big and clean. We had food in the Brewers Fayre right next door and was really happy. It was a value meal offer between 12pm&6pm so only £5. We had fish and chips and considering the price it was a large portion. The hotel was quiet during the night and we slept well. Didn't book breakfast this time but I know it is usually a good selection of hot and cold food. Will definitely return.

• anthonycE8025BD (8/5): Long stay - Staff are extremely helpful, I was there long term for work. Bed was comfortable, loads of hot water for a bath. Black out curtains were good and it was quiet during the day for people who want to sleep on nightshift Windows don't open which I think is a fire risk and can't get any fresh air into the room. Have to pay £3 per day to park at the hotel
• 420mikee (4/5): Way past it's best - Firstly, the reception was staffed which is a real positive. Without exception, all of the staff from reception to cleaner were both pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately, the staff have proven to be the only real positive of the stay. Overall, the appearance of the hotel is very much down at heel and is decidedly more shabby than chic. Despite our room being 'Premier Plus' it can only be described as tired and could definitely do with a refurb. Many of the walls are badly marked. The aircon, when working is incredibly noisy and can make sleeping quite difficult. It also frequently cuts out, so maintaining a constant temperature can a bit of a struggle. In summer temperatures, it would be incredibly uncomfortable. The main areas of the room seemed clean. There is little to no adjustment to the shower head. In order to shower there is no option but to stand in the slippy area of the bath as the grippy area of the bath is in completely the wrong place to be effective. The shower screen is also ineffective resulting in the floor getting a good soaking and is no doubt responsible for the water damaged bath panel. Whoever designed this, clearly hadn't used it as all of these problems are immediately evident. I'm pretty good with IT/tech but I couldn't get the 'ultimate WiFi' to work even with the additional instructions for Apple devices. I reported this at reception and they were aware of the issue. I was then given a slip with instructions for Apple devices. As this is clearly an acknowledged problem, why not issue this additional log on information on arrival rather than having to ask? Better still, include it with the other paraphernalia on the desk. This is a real problem if anyone needs to work on anything other than the most basic of tasks. I ended up resorting to 5G via my phone as a hotspot for much of the time which was a decided improvement as it didn't drop out every five minutes. On the upside, the bed was comfortable and clean, but this in itself is not enough for me to overlook the other shortcomings. The breakfast was the cheapest of the cheap ingredients and can best be described as barely adequate. With the bran-flake option, I feel I'd have been better off eating the cardboard box it came in as opposed to the actual cereal. Again, further evidence of cost cutting. The most disappointing element of the stay was having to pay £3.00 per day for parking. Given the amount we paid for the room, this is extremely mean spirited. This is unmitigated greed and designed to do nothing more than extract the absolute maximum from the customer. Over the years, I've stayed in a number of Premier Inns, and have always been satisfied. However, this is now the second time I've experienced very similar problems at opposite ends of the country. This leads me to conclude that all of this is due to company policy. This will now in all probability be my last time at a Premier Inn. Premier Inn used to be utterly reliable and enabled booking at pretty much any location with complete confidence. Now the brand has been so cheapened that it can only be described as unpleasant. As good as the bed is it doesn't make up for the rest. The staff here are really very good. However, I suspect that in common with other branches they will be 'let go' and self-service check in will be implemented. All of this is such a shame as it is now a shadow of what it once was. TOP TIP - get food from the Tesco Express, it's only a five minute walk away!

Any request was seen to at once and with no fuss.Food was very good and delivered with courtesy. When car parking machine failed the people on check in sorted the payment at once. Let me not start on house keeping. They don’t clean properly when asked, I had to result to cleaning the room myself because it seems like I was asking for a lot. My sheets were never changed during my stay. This had been my worst experience in all of my travels abroad.

Although, the room could do with some tlc and redecorating. Reasonable price and was pre-warned about building work taking place. Not affecting us at the weekend.

We found two places we were looking for mcsims pastisties Maltese cafe and fabulous Welsh cakes

• Discover36941433360 (2/5): Unfair parking charge - I was very disappointed to find that Premier Inn now charges £3.50 per night for parking. In all my previous stays, parking has always been included, so this feels like an unnecessary and unfair extra charge on top of the room rate. Guests should not be expected to pay additional fees simply to park while staying at the hotel. I have always chosen Premier Inn for good value and convenience, but this new policy has left me questioning whether I will book again in the future.

It's not the most prettiest of places but makes a fantastic cheap base to explore the South Lakes area by car. We stayed in a family room with 4 people. Beds were comfortable as they always are at Premier Inn. The hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were unfailingly helpful at both reception and the adjacent restaurant where breakfast is served. Premier Inn Breakfast in the brewers fayre was excellent. There is Electric car charging on site and the hotel is very close to other amenities in the retail parks as well as the Dock museum which has an good children's play area.

The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and very well prepared – exactly what you’d hope for to start the day right. A special mention to the waiters, Sain and Aaliyah, who gave excellent service throughout. They were attentive, polite, and made sure everything was served perfectly. Their professionalism and friendliness really added to the overall experience. The restaurant itself was very clean, with great attention to detail in both serving and clearing tables, which created a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Thank God we managed to check in by 4pm in time to sort out the non existent wifi Nothing works - went back to reception who has to give us a voucher 1. Why this is not given when we check in 2. One voucher only allow one device although it states that the ultimate WiFi is for 3 3. The normal WiFi doesn’t work 90 percent of the time Basically it’s a stay with no internet. This should be outright mention so we will know what to expect And when we paid extra for the wifi we do expect that it is provide as paid - None

• A8277LXemilyw (10/5): We Left 7 Minutes Before Checkout Time Because We Didn't Want To Leave! - Me and my best friend came to Barry Island because we of course wanted to see the filming locations from Gavin and Stacey. We decided to stay in the premier inn and we did not regret it! I emailed the hotel before explaining that I have anxiety when it comes to staying in hotels and I needed to be on the ground floor and they was happy to accommodate. Our room was lovely and we actually didn't want to leave the bed was so comfy. We actually left 7 minutes before 12pm because we didn't want to leave. The room was clean and nicely laid out, the only thing was that there was some marks on the wall but in all fairness they were having building work done at the time. It was really hot when we went as well and as they are upgrading the hotel the windows don't open but there is air conditioning. Honestly it kept the room so cool and nice. We didn't hear any of the building work (might be because it was a weekend but we still didn't hear anything). It was so easy for us to walk to Barry Island from the hotel and go and see the things that we wanted to see and then walk back. The hotel even now has a little nod to Gavin and Stacey! On the front and side of the building there is a side that says "Whats Occur-inn" The hotel is facing the docks and it is a beautiful view! The restaurant is nice, the only issue was that there isn't a massive selection for dinners but the breakfast is amazing, which we booked two £10.99 unlimited breakfasts. My friend had a massive full english and I had multiple different things like crumpets, a sausage sandwich and cereal! We would 100% recommend it and we would love to go back even just to stay in the hotel!
• DanSpray1 (4/5): Regularly visitor through work - Staff are good as a whole (Amy, Emma, Steve and Rob- you couldn't wish for better). Unfortunately you can't say the same for the management. Cleaners - let's not bother with them. Maintenance- who needs that! The building is grotty and the breakfast bar is constantly running out of stock and the coffee machine is a standing joke! To be perfectly honest, save your money on the hotel and buy a tent, you'll be alot better off!

• gemma099 (6/5): Fair hotel but nothing special - Qe arrived early at 12 midday on Saturday and the lady on reception showed no interest or enthusiasm just simply said our room is not ready. The man later when we returned around 4/5pm was really friendly and helpful giving food recommendations and more. The location is good to see the sights and gavin and stacey experience. The breakfast and service at the Brewers fayre was very good and the bed comfortable. The room was ok but a little run down in parts and the corridors smelt musky.

• Curious10963510824 (8/5): Weekend break - We moved this break from Easter to beginning of August due to family issues. We mainly wanted to see local area and visit St Fagans museum, which we did and was an excellent day out. We were met by a lovely young lady called Nicole on reception who was very friendly helpful and told us directions around the area etc. We had room 121 which was clean and tidy, but the floors in the room especially the bathroom made a terrific creaking noise, and the noise from upstairs was even worse, it’s a shame as other than that the stay was good.

They couldn't have been more kind though a difficult time. Great at sorting out extending my stay as i needed it. Also house keeping quiet kind and very good at their job. The hotel has the museum next door and a great walk along the estuary. I would definitely stay again.

Friendly guy called Nick on reception very helpful and knowledgeable about hotel and local area. Bedrooms spacious and well laid out, furniture in good condition. Everywhere spotless. Well stocked tea/coffee and bathroom items. Comfy bed. Quiet area no noise outside, very peaceful. Close to town for entertainment, eating, supermarkets etc 5 minute walk and very close to country walks and beach at the other side, perfect location.

• pp78322 (2/5): Air Conditioning does NOT work here!! Avoid! - Like others have mentioned, despite advertising that the family rooms have air conditioning/air cooling, it does not work! This is an older premier inn and the rooms are very dated. We stayed in a family room, 2 adults and 2 kids in summer and it was unbearably stuffy! The air con is running but it is just blowing out warm air! 4 people in one room where you can’t open a window either! Honestly, don’t book here. Staff are aware this is an issue but there is nothing they can do. Head office - sort this out!!!! Unacceptable for families paying good money for a very poor experience. Don’t stay at this hotel. TIP: we stayed at Ulverston Premier Inn and this was MUCH better. Air conditioning was ice cold!
• Josh2695 (8/5): Good stay - Booked a three night stay, to visit Barry and do the Gavin Stacey tour. Staff all very friendly, brewers fayre next door, about a 15 minute flat walk to Barry Island. Only issues with the hotel was soundproofing seemed a bit non existent, the noise of the people in floor above walking around was very loud and could hear any little noise from other rooms or the hallway, and the air con seemed to sometimes turn itself on in the night for no obvious reason.
