• sophietM7361QG (10/5): Fantastic Stay - We stopped off at the primer inn spitfire to see some family on the way back home. Although there was no restaurant (Due to a big refurb of the restaurant and other rooms being built) that didn’t stop staff being excellent and professional. We checked in with the receptionist Libby who straight away told us to validate our parking, so that we didn’t forget and fill us in of the refurbished and what they had in place as substate. Libby was able to tell us a list of recommended dinner restaurants that we could try close to the hotel as well as in the town of Stafford. In the morning a complimentary continental breakfast was offered which included fresh fruit, pastries and that all important coffee machine. Libby was so professional and friendly when we checked in. The next morning we saw how other staff members were the same as Libby, the room cleaners were all cheerful and polite as we passed in the corridor saying good morning and the rooms were a credit to the Room cleaners, the bed and bathroom was comfortable and clean, some walls needed touching up with paint but the room was great for what we needed. The lady on the desk in the morning was attentive and kind helping my husband with the coffee machine, and making sure we had everything we needed for the long journey ahead . We’d have never stayed at the primer inn spitfire before, however when we’re next down to see family or friends or need to break up a journey, we’ll plan it so we can stay there again, get a great night sleep and see how the refurbishment turns out. Thanks to the staff for making a stop gap friendly and comfortable.

In fact, I wrote a poem for all of the staff there, and they put it on the wall in a back room I was not well for my entire 8 days there, sadly. Thanks again to all of you for your interest and care. • P8676VOarthurb (10/5): Very good - The location was ideal. A very friendly atmosphere. Room was very comfortable. Good value for money and very clean. Noise level perfect 👍
• ianwL3608YW (8/5): WiFi and loo roll - Check in was easy, room comfortable and the bed was fine. Decent shower as well. Meals are in the pub next door. We only had the breakfast which was good, but best get there at the start as it does get busy. The WiFi was poor, I'd paid in advance as I didn't know what connectivity was going to be like. Mobile 5G is strong, so I don't recommend the WiFi. The loo roll dispenser doesn't give much of an indication of how much there is and we must have been given about five sheets between us. Easily resolved but shouldn't really have happened.

• 235ians (10/5): First class service in the restaurant on a very busy night. - Stayed with my 9 year old son just for one night . The hotel and staff were the usual good standard i have come to expect as this was my first visit to this particular Premier inn. I dont usually write reviews but thought i must highlight what an asset the manager ( I think she was the manager , looking at the name on the receipt Jodie ) of the restaurant is. Although it was very busy and she was rushed off of her feet , everything was done with a smile and nothing was to much trouble for her. Even finding the time to advise me and my son on our dessert. The food was of a very good standard and no matter how busy it was getting there was not a long wait , our food was delivered hot and freshly cooked and everything seemed to run like clockwork. In this day and age where people seem to be quick to complain i think she deserves a pat on the back for being such a hard conscientious worker and making the whole evening such a pleasurable experience
• melsimcoe (10/5): Wonderful stay with amazing staff - Stayed for 3 nights over October half term. Check in was quick the staff were really friendly and informative. Make sure you enter your car registration number at reception. Rooms were clean, a good size and temperature. The beds were so comfortable I had a great sleep. The shower was powerful with big towels and shampoo etc was provided. Location great for site seeing. We visited Landhyrock house, the Eden project and went to Truro on the train from St austell train station which was just under 2 miles. I was surprised how nice this hotel was and the restaurant was just next door and we had a great experience there too. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

We recieved a very warm and friendly welcome from Sharon at reception offering great customer service, she couldn’t have been more helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable. The check out staff the next morning were just as friendly and helpful. We were made aware that the restaurant was temporarily closed for refurbishment and a so a complimentary take away breakfast was available at reception, fresh croissants, fruit and hot drinks all of a good standard. Overall 5* place for a short stay. Thank you.

• vicsclassicautos (2/5): Avoid until its had a refurbishment - I arrived at the Spitfire in Stafford and was checked into room 7. The toilet seat was broken and unknown to me it slid off the toilet and I nearly ended up on the floor....not a good start to a stay I did complian to the girl and she said that she might be able to move me to another room...this was awkward as I've just unpacked everything. The room was on the ground floor and very stuffy..I opened the window as much as I could however it was so noisy and added to the stuffy room it didn't make for a good night sleep. I had an email stating that your restaurant was shut...this made another problem as on Friday night everything near by was fully booked and I couldn't eat. I tried to get a cab into town but there were none available at that time I was told that there would be a complimentary continental breakfast supplied for the inconvenience. I went to reception the next morning to be told by a tired and miserable checkout girl that they had no delivery and therefor no breakfast. This added to the disappointment of my stay. The following night was much the same however I did get some good food early at the Chinese buffet opposite. The breakfast in the reception was there on Sunday but I chose to leave this as it was an insult to my intelligence. Dried up croissant in a plastic bag...cheap orange juice and a banana. Complimentary but at what cost. The WiFi was non existent unless you pay for the premium package at a fiver a day This has been one of my worst stays anywhere ever and I've had to stop in some poor hotels over the years. Not impressed at all with the Spitfire
• DinFrance (6/5): Ok - It was ok. Did the job but nothing special. Felt more motel than hotel TBH. Bed side table was not fully cleaned/a bit sticky. Lovely big mugs for cups of tea though.
• 512badams (8/5): Stayed there as we wanted to do the Eden Project (literally 10 mins down the road) . - The staff were so accommodating, and nothing was to much for them . Very friendly as well . The restaurant was comfortable and food typical pub food but good.
• M3325HQlucyc (8/5): Friendly, welcoming and helpful - The whole team were friendly and welcoming. The team at breakfast were particularly amazing. It was very busy, with demanding customers. They all stayed helpful and smiled throughout. Big shout out for making me personalised coeliac breakfast. Diolch Yn fawr!
• Raquel (6/5): - The bathroom was very dated. It looked like a nursing home. The flooring was extremely old. The bed was too low. Only one bath towel for 2 people. It was definitely not up to standard for a Hub. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcomed. But this hotel needs serious renovations.
• madbadger21 (10/5): Staff 1st class - We have stayed here several times now and every time the staff have been amazing. We have several things that need to be in place for our disabled son and they have always gone above and beyond to help us and make our stay perfect. They are so polite, helpful, friendly and understanding. The only thing that would make it better would be to be able to have a fridge in the room. Rooms were very clean and nothing was to much trouble. Thank you for a lovely stay.

• JudyB756 (8/5): As expected from Premier - Staff at this hotel were particularly helpful and friendly. Facilities were as expected from a Premier Inn and parking was free. Our only concern was the size of the premises. We were aware that there was no lift but did not realise the building was about a mile long with many stairs. Not simple for one with mobility issues. Also the restaurant was quite a trek. Another little issue for us was the height of the bath. A bit of struggle to get in and out for a shower. In future (we usually choose Premier Inns) I will fill in the added information box and ask for a room with a walk in shower and closer to lifts or reception.
• Sherpa02050400992 (2/5): Not great - All the floor in and around my room creaked something fierce, could hear everyone walking about sucks if you're a light sleeper. The bathroom extractor fan filter looks like it's never been cleaned out, and there was black spots in the grouting. The heating in the room didn't work seems to be a common thing with premier inns, breakfast is a solid meh there's nothing premier about this premier inn wouldn't recommend. Try an independent BnB would be a better experience and value for money.

• robertbT6741FK (10/5): Great Experience at St Austell Premier Inn! - I'm writing to thank Lei-Lani and Mitch (Manager) at St Austell Premier Inn for all thier help in checking me in and securing a room on 4th September. Lei-Lani who cleaned my room at record speed deserve high praise indeed. The room was extremely clean and left spotless. Mitch (what a star), is a dedicated professional manager who clearly knows how to communicate with customers staying at the hotel and making them feel welcome, but who has the rare ability to care, communicate and manage his team too. Thank you and I will look forward to staying at the hotel again soon.
• jalfrezi_boy (4/5): Tatty and remote - Staff are great. Hotel is tatty. Pub next door shut at 10 so if you want a late night drink then bring your own as you are miles away from any other pub
• nerdj2025 (2/5): Terrible - go elsewhere - Dirty bathroom with floor covered in someone elses finger or toe nails. Hairs on the side and in the shower. No breakfast. Restaurant closed. No cares given. Slow check in, queue being ignored. No details on check in, just handed a card - had to query food, breakfast, where room was etc etc.
• PaulH728 (4/5): Unhappy Time - Very disappointing here. There was a queue through the door when we arrived and the reception desk was unmanned. The couple at the front said that they had been waiting for 20 minutes for someone to show up, and had even tried telephoning the hotel with no response. When 2 ladies arrived together to work, they issued that poor couple with a keycard that didn't work. The chap was NOT a happy bunny. We finally got in to room 218. Turned out that it was overlooking a very busy road, and we did not have a good night's rest at all because of the noise (despite double glazing). Breakfast at 0900 on the Sunday and guess what? Another queue. There was one poor lad who was running around on his own trying to clear dirty tables, book people in and manage just about everything. Obviously understaffed. No porridge out - despite being on the menu. Some hot food trays were on last scraping at the time of entry (although they were topped up at 0920). Premier Inns are usually pretty good, but not this one.

• ianjV9410IH (2/5): Rubbish - Absolutely dire. Staff absolutely hopeless, shut the bar at 10 on a Saturday night then can’t accommodate a group of 10 asking to just take drinks to the room. Totally inept at customer service, go anywhere else this place is hopeless.
• bri_uk71 (10/5): Starting the day with a great breakfast and a smile - Stayed at the Premier inn Spitfire for the twentieth time in the last 13 years. Plenty of parking, rooms clean and spacious. Downside is the lack of Air Con, But the definite upside is the breakfast. Special mention to the two people working their backsides off trying to keep everyone happy. Felt sorry for Jane having to run around clearing up then having to seat people, then have the same people bringing up that the coffee machine had stopped working which she quickly sorted. Bacon done beautifully, Sausages, eggs spot on. Couldn’t find any issues that weren’t resolved. Thanks Kim for an amazing breakfast and Jane for putting in a shift and a half, still managing to smile and be polite when most wouldn’t.
• walshy1gb (8/5): Jayne the staff member who needs a pay rise - Good hotel for the location we needed. From a person who works in hospitality the restaurant was good the staff excellent Jayne who did the breakfast shift was great and she had some challenges no butter on day one of our stay. Day 3 no pastries @ 08:30 prime time for breakfast and kids eat pastries not fried breakfast short staffed on the other days very busy for breakfast lots of families but overall we had a good time

• B2878XYannah (8/5): Great overnight stay on way to the lakes - Stopped here for one night on way to Lake District. Very friendly front of desk staff when we arrived late in the evening. Jane at breakfast was very welcoming, attentive and hospitable ensuring everyone had everything they needed and that breakfast supplies were restocked accordingly. Always smiling and going above and beyond. Rapid electric car chargers in car park were added bonus. Room clean and functional too.

• offexploring (10/5): Reliable as always! - We always use Premier Inns when travelling as we find them consistently good; helpful and friendly staff, comfortable beds and great breakfast. This one was no exception. Special mention to Jane on breakfast duty who seemed to be running the service single-handedly and was doing a fabulous job of looking after everyone!
• Wolfgang (6/5): - The toilet was not working correctly. Even after reporting it to the reception — it wasn”t rectified!
