Guest Reviews
- J4884HQjohnh (10/5): Excellent value for money. Perfect location for town and easy to access - This is the second time I have been to this Premier Inn. Its clean and comfortable. Location is perfect in the town centre. Despite being in the town there is little external noise so its quiet. Parking in St Johns nearby was very easy and also reasonably priced; I wish more towns and cities were so easy and sensibly priced. The staff were very helpful and friendly .Will go again
- 155edwinaw (10/5): Welcoming and friendly - Staff at this Premier Inn were so helpful and friendly. We had booked an early check-in and requested a ground floor room near to reception. B9th requests were met.
Bridget on reception was very welcoming and despite a very short window to get our room ready, everything was clean, neat and comfortable.
Food at the Blue Cap was excellent too!
- davehX9269XT (4/5): Hardly Premier - There always seems to be an issue at this hotel. I have been on at least three occasions where I have booked the meal deal and when I have come down for the evening meal I get told there's no chef. No one mentioned anything when checking in or gave me a refund. I have also booked a premium room twice now and then not been given one.
- R7621JCianr (2/5): Not many staff working here. Poor service throughout - Wouldn't have an evening meal here unless you have over 4 hours available to eat. Need more staff (more than 3). QRMachine not working.
- A4635QKerict (10/5): My partners car hadn't deregistered from the system and the manager sorted the problem immediately. - The staff were very helpful with issues that arose due to parking. Very friendly and very informative. The manager sorted the parking issue immediately
- mkmattison (10/5): Excellent. - Excellent location. Room is clean and well equipped. Very impressed with the staff.
Excellent freshly cooked breakfast, this morning 22nd November, with vegetarian sausages, bacon and poached eggs with a wide variety of other of good quality
options.
Very pleased with all aspects of this hotel and the staff are efficient and welcoming. Helpful with parking options too. Thank you for an enjoyable two night stay. A Mattison.
- Q6973UCemmaj (10/5): Excellent stay - Stay here on a regular basis always clean and staff r very friendly and helpful especially the manager always goes above to do what she can
- dawnkA1206AO (10/5): Enjoyed 😉 - Staff very helpful, cheerful,friendly.
Location very good for town, quite, no through traffic.
Car park s not so good when full near hotel, plenty around though.
Rooms lovely, always a spacious and comfortable bed.
Value for price, lovely restaurant, good prices 👌
- B2212UKjohnb (10/5): Positive - Kind and helpful staff, particularly Mary.
Premier inn facility is ready for a face lift, but is very clean throughout.
- Clive (10/5): - Very friendly staff and excellent service. Pillows uncomfortable. Clean rooms. Great for the price
- A1983HWkarenl (2/5): Disappointing - Not aware at all time of booking that we could have requested a room close to reception and with a walk in shower.
Hotel needs a refurb. Room very tatty and tile grouting needed cleaning.
- Nicole (10/5): - Location was excellent
- sheilalS8123SQ (10/5): Always a friendly welcome from Mary - We have stayed at this Premier Inn regularly for the last 11 years because we have family living nearby. We stay there several times a year and always get a friendly welcome from Mary on reception.
The rooms are always clean with comfortable beds. Some of the showers have been upgraded which is very welcome, but the hotel does need a general refresh.
- christopherbN3351JB (8/5): Clean and convenient at a reasonable price. - Well located for North Norfolk attractions without going into the city centre.
Usual pleasant and clean rooms at a reasonable price. Excellent breakfast in associated Brewers Fayre but evening meals and service only average.
- katyw999 (10/5): Good gluten free / dairy free breakfast options - Good gluten free, dairy free and vegan options at breakfast, and very helpful staff happy to cook everything separately, and very friendly.
- seifa357 (10/5): My premier inn experience - Upon arrival I met the receptionist Mary who was very nice and welcoming. She was an absolute star! I do recommend the rooms to be refurbished.
- mcgoo1234 (8/5): Entertaining - Good location. Very good food. Rooms are always clean and beds are very comfortable. My family and I stay here every time we’re in town and staff are always lovely. Very welcoming and accommodating. Kate, the manager, is always a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
- vickymN4498XL (10/5): Amazing customer service - First time as a solo traveller. Staff on reception were brilliant. Friendly and put my mind at ease by telling me there is always someone there if I have any problems. They were chatty and asked me about my night the next day. Probably the best customer service I have ever received
- NellietheSuperDog (10/5): Excellent - Excellent stay. Natalie, Denzel and Jackie deserve a mention. Great people, friendly and work very hard. Room clean. Quiet location. One minute walk to Derngate Theatre. Breakfast fresh, cooked to order and fabulous. Will definitely stay again when visiting The Derngate.
- 476kayleigha (10/5): Spot on! - Yet again what an amazing stay I had, downside the first night was freezing because air con system was broken but not the hotels fault. Room absolutely spotless as always never find anything less when I stay. Staff amazing kind and friendly especially towards my little boy offering to let him carve a pumpkin’ will always recommend here :)
- 956bettyq (10/5): "Me" Time! - Enjoy our stay very much.
However use of the accessible rooms (we found for us) was not suitable - has we had 1, step up to the shower, with no handle to hold on to.
Because of this we did not use the shower. So on, our next visit we will insist on a accessible room with a Wet Room -(meaning that it is suitable for a wheelchair user).
- Birgit (8/5): - Schone ruime kamer met een fijn bed en een prettige badkamer. Heel vriendelijk personeel. Nog geen minuut lopen naar het Royal & Derngate theater en minder dan tien minuten naar een winkelcentrum.
- R3675MKcarlb (8/5): October at the Premier Blue Cap - Had a lovely time and the staff were very helpful 😊. It's really nice having the Blue cap next door for food and drinks at the end of the day. Also staff in the pub were very nice. Thanks to Bridget for recommending places to see and pleasantries.
- 891clivep (10/5): Really excellent City break - We have stayed here 5 times now. We need accessibility and use a wheelchair. The hotel meets all our accessibility needs and everything from the car park to the reception, the room(including bathroom facilities) the housekeeping and restaurant are very good. We always go the meal deal and find the breakfast and evening meal to be very good and really good value for money.
- 103coralb (6/5): Hotel what you expect from a premier inn but not a carpark charge - Had to pay £5 for cafpark not expecting to having stayed many times over the last 3 years but won’t stay again I will look for another in Norwich
- 598barryw (10/5): Excellent Stay - We often sty at the Premier Inn for the rugby and each time we receive an excellent service. Our latest visit was in October. As usual the rooms were exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Brekfast was good. A special thanks to Gail and Gosia for making our stay so enjoyable. Can thoroughly recommend the hotel.
- carolinel994 (10/5): Great stay, as always - We are regular, if infrequent, visitors to this hotel and it never disappoints. Great location, easy parking options and invariably friendly and helpful staff. In particular, Gail is always so efficient at check in and, if on duty, great at sorting out breakfast. Gosia ensures that the rooms are always spotless. Would not consider staying anywhere else in Northampton.
- dalehW4359EN (10/5): Great staff - Short 1 night stay, but every member of staff who we spoke to were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely spot on too
Thank you ☺️
- timnB488WV (10/5): Very good. We had 3 rooms over 2 night and everyone is very happy. - Arrived at check in stressed tired and hungry. We were lucky enough to get checked in by Sara. She was brilliant and went way over and beyond to help us out. Warm friendly and professional. She made sure we got a table booked in busy restaurant, before it was fully booked out. When our room key could not open the room door She found us a different room no problem. 5 star treatment and a great team player.
- 693darrang (4/5): Not the best - Check out time was 12 o’clock so we put the do not disturb sign on the door so housekeeping would be aware we were sleeping in. Unfortunately the housekeeping were banging about and shouting to one another. We even heard them say they couldn’t finish early until they had done our room, and someone kicked our door. As I went to take our bags to the car the receptionist asked me what number my room was when I told her she replied oh we was wondering where the key was?. If the checkout time is 12 o’clock the staff should abide to this time. Very unprofessional. Imagine booking a hotel room to relax then being forced out early the next day. Waste of money!
- chrisgX6400GN (10/5): Always a Warm Welcome - We are regulars at the Premier Inn Northampton Town Centre but have been away for the summer so this was our first stay for several months.
On our arrival we soon received a very warm welcome on our return by Katie the manager and Gosia the head house keeper.
They are very busy people but always find time to have a conversation and ask how we are.
Our stay was, as usual very comfortable and relaxing.
This type of personal touch is ALWAYS appreciated. That’s why we ALWAYS stay here when in Northampton.
- N7839DS (10/5): Great experience - Had a slight issue with the air conditioning in the room but the staff went above and beyond to try and sort the problem. They were really friendly and always on hand. Will definitely be returning.
Huge shoutout to Gayle who was so funny and so lovely.
- ccedinburgh2018 (4/5): Awful customer service - Quite disappointing
Saved from a one star review by the clean, comfy rooms and decent food at our evening meal at the on site restaurant
Customer service overall was very disappointing both at hotel reception and restaurant
Had to ring bell on arrival, even though I was in eyeshot of the female receptionist, who then appeared disgruntled, proceeded to sit down at computer with little eye contact/ communication or explanation about facilities and one word answers to questions asked
Same with the gentleman on departure, who just took back keys, didn't check how stay was etc
Restaurant staff were not very welcoming and slow to show us to our seats
Missed breakfast as it was so slow to arrive
Absolutely awful service, would not recommend
- 685adym (4/5): The worst PI IN Norwich - This hotel hasn’t changed over the years with bedding and pillows getting thinner. Sadly the hotel is still attached to the oaks restaurant which seems that is charging you more and feeding you less
- jeffmaverickSmith (8/5): usual experience for a Premier inn, you know what you're getting. although to costly - check-in was problematic. first, a long que to check-in. the automated/check-in machines were not working. not the ladies fault who managed well. then allocated a single room, paid for a double. had to find the original booking that confirmed it, which did not match the system. wsa able to resolve fairly quickly.
- GillHerne (10/5): Good stay , highly recommended - Always have a nice stay. Staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are an ideal size and food very good and cater for gluten free.
- russellj903 (10/5): Excellent service 5 stars - Came premier inn Sandiway lady on desk called Mary was very accommodating And made booking for us 2 rooms as we seem to have no booking
- Tacksterino (6/5): Fine in the past, can't cope with the summer heat - I've been before and it's been fine for the area. However, this time the weather was hot and there is no air conditioning in any of the rooms. The windows are limited to a couple of inches of opening and the staff supplied electric fans that don't do much when all they do is move the heat around. With summers getting hotter, AC is a must
- chrisbN3399LL (8/5): A Good Place to Stay and Eat - I stay here often and both the Premier Inn and the Blue Cap next door are just great. Mary at the Premier Inn is very welcoming, there's plenty of parking (with 4x electric charge points) and there is good running or walking down the nearby Whitegate Way path.
- Bluegecko33 (4/5): After a few years staying away...it's not improved. - The whole of Premier Inn Sandiway is over due a complete overhaul and refurbishment. It is tired. I stayed there a few years back, preferring to stay at the other Premier Inn in Northwich - the one with the Woodpecker pub attached, near Davenham roundabout. This time I stayed at Sandiway to see if it had been improved - it hadn't.
On entering the room there was a smell - a mix of mouldy, damp, mustiness with a hint of bleach/cleaner. The source was the bathroom. It was clean, but the smell lingered throughout our stay. It was reminiscent of the smell in old public showers at the gym/swimming pool. Not what I want in a room I am going to sleep in. The edges of things in the bathroom were grubby, the holders and containers of the soap etc were rusty and grubby.
We were constantly disturbed every night by doors closing heavily through into the early morning. You have signs everywhere, but people do not read them, especially if they are coming in after a drink. You have soft close mechanisms on the corridor doors that work and those doors close silently if someone walks through and leaves it to self close. The doors on the rooms also have soft close mechanisms on them, but they DO NOT work and these are the doors that were slamming noisily when people let them bang shut behind them. They need upgrading. I appreciate hotel living is accepting people moving about at all hours. I've stayed in enough over the years to know that, but when you pride yourself about good sleep and not being disturbed etc...
And while I am filling this in - what is with the sign on the bathroom door saying it must be closed when taking a shower due to steam setting off the fire alarm. If this is the case then presumably the fire alarm is low tech as I've not had this sign on any other Premier Inn bathroom door or the internal fan in the bathroom is inadequate to deal with the steam produced by the shower. As I said in my opinion Sandiway is in need of upgrading and refurbishment.
Keys and a wobbly Yale lock style of lock on the room door - this is dark ages. Where are the key cards and more sophisticated style of door locks in all the other Premier Inns I have stayed at.
Premier Inn Sandiway is not a patch on your other Premier Inns that I have stayed in, both in Cheshire and other parts of the UK.
- 239rickye (6/5): Decent hotel, just not updated & needs the odd thing fixing - Didn’t want to write a negative review but with so many snowflakes & Karen/Micks able I thought might aswell….we probs got complained about outset with my 3/4 min wide show in the bedroom department Saturday evening…nearly got a standing ovation🤭
So firstly I don’t know who or what is above room 30 but it sounded like either a 24 hour bowling alley was in full use or the cast of ‘stomp’ were rehearsing for their latest tour.
With this lovely weather & seasonal sun…the room was ridiculous stuffy so we had hoped A/C was available(bugger it wasn’t)….instead we had a fan that was non existent, may aswell have whacked the hair dryer on continuously for the night blowing hot magma into my direction.
Wi-Fi/phone signal was poor, kept connecting then knocking me out every 2 mins…felt like a terrible boxer not throwing any punches back
As for The 40 inch smart TV that was nowhere near in line with the rather comfy & sturdy double bed….it had seen better days….we flicked thru channels constantly hoping for a good chick flick or maybe even a crime documentary as we love a bit of controversy…instead we found & selected itv4 on Friday evening….it eventually ended up coming on around 7am Saturday morning with back to back episodes of heartbeat proudly waking us up….great theme tune btw.
Luckily reception were friendly so no complaints there, my company even better so didn’t ruin our weekend away, just wasn’t as good as other premier inns around the country.
- carolemh (10/5): Above and beyond customer service - We often stay here when catching up with friends from Northampton. On this occasion we did not arrive until 1am and was welcomed by Anita. Anita went out of her way and offered to get some fresh milk for our tea/coffee in the morning. Sometimes it is the little gestures like this that make such as difference. Rooms as always clean and bed super comfy and location spot on.
- myfanwyzelder (8/5): Overall good, great size just too hot - Overall it was good, family of 4 and requested a cot. Got a large bedroom with a double and 2 twins plus the cot which was great.
It was stuck at 25⁰ in the bedroom so with 4 of us it was so uncomfortable overnight.
- Leander_12 (8/5): Tired Rooms but Clean with Friendly Staff - Rooms were very tired and in need of refurbishment, but they were clean so that was the main thing. Reception staff and staff at pub next door were very helpful and friendly. We stayed for the weekend for a Wedding at a nearby venue, so this hotel was ideal for our needs.
- traceyfS7372QJ (10/5): Helpful reception - Great reception thank you Jo for welcoming us to the hotel - tea and coffee top ups on reception much appreciated
Thank you
Early flight tomorrow and offered cereal etc
- Jph968 (10/5): Great stay with friendly staff - Stayed again at the premier inn before having to catch a early flight
Check in staff (Jo ) was very very friendly and helpful asking if we needed an early call and boooking a table at the oaks next door . The rooms were very clean and quiet
- T1717LBandyb (4/5): Nowhere near the usual standard. - The place seemed “tired” and in need of renovation. There was a bath in the bathroom, which would have been nice but the extractor fan was literally painfully loud, so you couldn’t relax in the tub.
At breakfast there were warning signs that the toasters were very slow, which they certainly were - if they’re not up to the job, don’t tell customers the machines are useless - replace them! Finally there was only one coffee machine at breakfast and it wasn’t working. I accept that things break down, but really? In a hotel restaurant of this size, only one, inadequate coffee machine?
- Victy_Jones (10/5): Fantastic staff! - Perfect hotel for our needs, a great location for the wedding at Delamere. Staff were welcoming and helpful, particularly Bridget on Reception who was really friendly and accommodating; an excellent front of house who went above and beyond!
- RnBTaxiIOM (2/5): Unhelpful - Unhelpful when called for assistance. No option for what they were suggesting in terms of the number you press to get through to the right department and not put through leaving question unanswered. Booked alternative instead.
- johnwambeek (6/5): Ok hotel - Room was nice and staff when friendly when I first walked in night staff not so much dont pay for breakfast not worth it also dont let room. Cleaner clean the room was worse after they had come in
- robinhJ7150TW (8/5): Very relaxing stay, friendly helpful staff - Friendly helpful staff, good sized room, clean, good pub directly next door, plenty of secure parking and a couple of electric charging points on site
- 891clivep (10/5): Weekend stay ideally located for Norwich and all its attractions. - The whole experience was very good. This hotel is great for our needs. We needed a wet room in the bathroom which was accommodated. Breakfast, Dinner and the reception team were all brilliant. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again.
- 807dellah (8/5): Lovely Weekend away - Comfy, clean room. Lovely staff. Room was too warm but the staff can't be blamed for the fact we were in middle of another heatwave
- 568dolores (8/5): Delicious food - overall my stay was good. The bed was very comfortable. The food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. Great value for money.
- N9469SDstuarth (10/5): Fantastic staff - Fantastic stay staff were so welcoming and friendly they genuinely do make it a lovely stay won't hesitate to use again in future
- 234jeannec (10/5): Nice stay at premier inn Norwich airport - The mattress very comfortable, I had a disabled shower room which was brilliant, rooms very nice and clean, staff were very helpful and friendly .
Breakfast at pub next door really good also had evening meal and that was also really good I would definitely stay there again
- Trek29494598387 (10/5): Family Stay - We travelled to Norwich for my sister's wedding, Jo on reception was super efficient checking us in. Providing us with all the information we needed on the hotel and how to book meals at the restaurant next door.
We realised when we went to our room that a cot hadn't been provided, we spoke to Jo and she immediately got this sorted for us which we really appreciated.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again!
- 651grantt (2/5): AWFUL - No Aircon only a fan 27.5 degrees in room with fan on! We attended a local charity event (2 days) we had three rooms, We all went home without completing second day! As a director of a local business we will not be using This company again!
We hold events too so a lot of reservations will not be coming their way!
- Z7879VPdianer (8/5): Family Wedding - This is a good basic Premier Inn and it ticked all the right boxes for us. We stayed here for a family wedding. We would like to give a big shout out to Jo who was exceptional on reception where she was knowledgeable and helpful regarding our queries. The restaurant and the outside areas which serve Premier Inn guests however let the hotel down. It was unkempt and could be improved if it were to be maintained to a better standard. Food there was excellent though and we would stay here again whilst visiting family.
- K811PLdavidc (4/5): Give it a miss - Very dated old premier inn not worth the £125 a night, staff were great, quite possibly the worst breakfast we have had at a premier inn and we have stayed at 100’s, save ya money eat elsewhere awful food, greasy, sausages dry, poached egg rock hard, ps no coffee machine either, children had pancakes about all possible to eat.
- non22017 (8/5): Great Service Den! - Den gave me details, written of direction to a cricket ground on the saturday, he works
on reception, fantastic service, beyond the call of duty, I don't have a smart phone and so he did the job, really unbelievable, I don't want to go around with a computer in my hand every day. how tedious!! he did the job
- gillie222 (10/5): A budget hotel with 5 star staff. - The staff at Sandiway went over and above to make sure that my stay was the best it could be right from checking me in.
Sarah, Gwyneth and Mary who were on the reception were amazing in every way.
The room was clean, tidy and adequate for my three night stay and the staff reminded me that I could renew the towels, have the room cleaned if I wanted.
- alexandriae92 (10/5): Thank you Mary at check in! - I had a wonderful stay again at Premier Inn, thanks to the incredibly friendly receptionist. From the moment I walked in, Mary always greets me with a warm smile and makes check-in a breeze.
Their helpful attitude and genuine kindness made me feel truly welcome. It’s always lovely to be greeted by someone who clearly enjoys their job. A fantastic first impression that set the tone for a great stay!
