Guest Reviews
- WayneM717 (10/5): Great Stay - Had a wonderful stay here.First time usingPremier Plus facilities and it really was great. Hotel spotlessly clean and staff very helpful.
- michaelmV8259PH (10/5): Fire alarm. - Freddie and Sue handled this mornings fire alarm very well in my opinion. After having to evacuate us all at 6 am. Dealing with the fire crews and sourcing the alarm codes. Very well.done. not an easy situation at all. At 6 am.
Great staff.
- damoo2016 (4/5): Pretty dire - don't expect much. - Pretty poor overall. Massively understaffed and the rooms are in dire need of a makeover.
The staff were friendly but you could see they were stressed out from being so understaffed - literally running from reception to the resturant and back. They were working way harder than they get paid for... premier inn - take note.
My room was in a terrible state. The ceiling was coming down in the bathroom at multple points and a previous occupier had put their fist through the plasterboard wall near the thermostat... probably because the heating wouldn't turn on...
Coffee machine was broken on both mornings with no real alternatives - still charged the full breakfast fee though.
Tatty communial areas and overall it was a bit of a dive. I kept telling myself it was fine because it was cheap!
- Si_Holmes (8/5): Lovely hotel, insecure parking - Comfortable quiet room, very friendly staff, especially the lady multitasking reception and breakfast duties. Stay spoiled somewhat by my car being broken into overnight in the car park in an attempt to steal the stereo.
- bharghavp2023 (10/5): 9 out of 10 - Location :- this premier inn is located 5 mins away from the town center. With parking on site ( just remember to put in your details / car reg ) when you check in to avoid any parking fine. Plenty of parking.
Staff :- Very pleasant staff. Went downstairs to ask for extra milk and coffee. Ended up with a bag full of them. Very pleased.
Room :- I opted for the Premier Plus room this time around and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a mini fridge , coffee machine , and to top it off a wireless charging pad on the side of the bed. Spacious room with modern looks to it.
Restaurant / food :- The restaurant is literally next to the hotel / again make sure you put your car reg in to avoid any fines. The restaurant itself was rather big space wise. Staff took me to my table. Got there early than usual / about 6pm so the restaurant wasn't that busy. Opted for a side of garlic bread with the Korean style burger. Both of which was cooked to the tee. 10/10 for the food.
- Amyelll (6/5): Mixed bag but would return - Pros:
The staff here are excellent. So friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman on reception when I checked in. He went through everything in detail unprompted and made sure I knew everything before I went to my room.
The room (premier plus) was lovely. The bed was very comfortable as were the chairs for while I was working. Everything was clean and tidy. I love the additional of the coffee machine, mini fridge and little chocolates in this upgrade and very much enjoyed the coffee as I waited for my table reservation.
The evening meal was good and this hotel offers good portion sizes. If you’re staying and want to have a meal in, I’d recommend upgrading to the meal deal as it’s essentially a free starter or drink and drink, depending on what main you choose. I got the burger which was £15.95 on its own so the upgrade of £16 at check-in was worth it.
Cons:
There was a heating issue during my stay. My room was quite cold despite the heating being on and I set it to 25.5 degrees at one point but the air was still not coming through hot. It took until about 2am to get to 21 degrees according to the thermostat so the morning was much more comfortable. During the evening meal, there was an issue with the air in there too which is how I knew my room was not an isolated incident. I didn’t hang around too long in there once I’d eaten as I was quite chilly. It was the same in the morning and the hostess did apologise and say she was sorting it without me having to mention it.
Breakfast
I travel quite a bit and this particular breakfast was a let down compared to other premier inn ones I’ve had unfortunately. I cut into a sausage and oil came out and the eggs were very greasy too (more than you’d expect from a fried egg). I only ate half before leaving it. Some of the bread was also stale but this could be because it had been a few hours since the start of service, but I picked up a few slices before I found one not so hard.
Overall, I’d stay here again because most of the issues would likely have been addressed and maybe it was a bad morning for breakfasts but it’s not the best experience I’ve had. Maybe I’ll just pack some extra layers, just in case!
- KevPamW (2/5): A dirty hotel- needs maintenance- black mould in room, which had not been cleaned properly- only caters for workmen. - Two of us arrived and had booked a double room. Only one towel was left for us. There was dirt everywhere, most of the walls appeared to have had large insects squashed against them and the remnants left on the wall. . Most dangerous though, there was a patch of black mould on the wall that had just been painted over, but had come straight through again. Not any good for guests with respiratory disease! Dust, fluff and sweet papers under the bed and couch - not been cleaned for ages!! No socket next to the headboard, so could not use my CPAP machine as my lead was not long enough. Bulbs out in the ceiling lighting. No room or hotel maintenance seems to go on here. Random banging sound every few minutes through the night. Bed also is very high, you nearly need a step ladder to get on it. Would not stay here again. Holes in the bathroom wall. They only seem interested in catering for workmen, judging by the poorly parked vans and Lorry’s all over the car park, which also had random tables, road signs and roadwork furniture all over it.
- Travel772692 (10/5): First time, will return... - Great beds, very clean, excellent value.
Food choice and quality excellent as is the staff ...recommend sea bass. The lady waiting, attending the bar, breakfast and dinner was so friendly and helpful.
- 486joannes (10/5): Cannot recommend enough. - Our stay had to be extended due to unforeseen circumstances and we were helped when moving rooms to find the loveliest gift and card which meant so much. The staff are not just professional but they went above and beyond and we cannot recommend them enough.
- richardcR8012IK (10/5): Great - Amazing staff on Tuesday wensday and Thursday night as bissy as it was your did the job to a high standard well done we will be bk 👍👍
- Mids1408 (10/5): Great place to stay at a bargain cost. - Had a great stay here. Staff were really friendly. The room was so good. It was so modern and clean. Just been decorated to a very high standard. The bed was so comfortable. Had room and meal deal for less than £100. Absolute bargain. Evening meal was awesome and so was breakfast. Definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. 😊👍🏻
- P7958BBadamd (10/5): A Lovely Stay - The staff were really friendly and helpful, which made it a pleasant stay. The room was nice and clean, and staff were always accommodating.
- yhi904 (10/5): Solid choice as expected from PremierInn - Everything you expect from the brand. Efficient check in. Comfortable room with comfy bed. Love the premium extras, eg coffee machine and chocolate. Bathroom needs refurb; bath panel badly water damaged. Car parking £3. Although the Brewer’s Fayre is on site, there is no covered walkway so it is a wet walk for dinner and breakfast when the weather is bad. The food and service was good. Overall good for an overnighter and great value for money.
- ryanlX921VF (10/5): Emma and Amy are amazing - Emma and Amy are the most amazing receptionists, they both went the extra mile they went above and beyond, I would recommend this hotel for there customer service, there banter was class as well
- mummabluberry2014 (8/5): Central Location - Excellent location.
The public car park is accessible by lift from the hotel and the £5 charge for overnight parking is reasonable.
The rooms are in need of upating especially the bathroom but everything was clean.
There was quite a wait for a table at breakfast and although the hot food is made to order, all of our eggs were over-cooked.
We stayed there to attend a football match at Oakwell Stadium and it was conveniently situated for a relatively easy 20 minute walk.
- John (6/5): - Trista rum. Bra frukost
- NorthStar65702972951 (10/5): A lovely stay - We stayed for 3 nights for a visit with family.
Room was nice, modern, clean and lots of space.
WiFi was ok on the whole.
Bathroom was nice and clean and modern.
Breakfast was good, lots of choice and was easy to book a table at reception.
We had an evening meal 1 night in the barum gate next door. Food and drinks were good with lots of choice.
Was plenty of parking available.
Even tho they have building work going on there was very little noise and then only slightly on the Monday morning around 9am.
- 629samic (10/5): Great hotel - Lovely hotel. Clean, friendly staff great location. I stayed in the newer part of the hotel and the room was lovely. The shower was amazing. Loved the lights nice touch.
- 548carolinem (4/5): No hot water & no working hairdryer. - I stayed in a premium plus room for one night for work.
The hotel is undergoing major refurbishment. Fair enough.
The staff were friendly & helpful and the breakfast was fine.
The room was a good size with a comfortable bed.
However, there was no hot water which meant I had a cold shower.
I had wet hair and the hairdryer did not work.
Although the room was nice and clean, it had an awful smell and I had to open the window overnight to get rid of the smell.
This level of service was not acceptable for a cost of £99 per night + £9.99 for breakfast.
No apology was given regarding the water situation. Very poor.
- Doctorpeg (6/5): Fine but restaurant chronically understaffed - Our two night stay here was fine but on the Saturday the restaurant was heavingly busy with long waits. It would have been so much worse but for Katy who was the only person taking orders and serving food. She rushed around for several hours. Had she been less friendly and efficient the waits would have been even longer and people would have become annoyed. So thank you Katy. And the probably understaffed kitchen also.
- TomTomCornwall (10/5): Highly recommended - Excellent service from reception staff, super friendly and welcoming.
Superb value for money room with every that we needed provided for.
Thanks very much.
- S8150BKphilc (10/5): Always a great trouble free stay with great staff 😃 - Stay here a few times a year. Always great presentation and friendly efficient staff. Just a one night stay on this occasion but the usual high standard .
Emma was really on the ball at my arrival and after I ordered a takeaway that was delivered early Emma was good enough to bring it to my room ! Also later rescuing me again when I had a struggle with the vending machine ! She’s a star ! 😀
- markhU8874OP (10/5): Mark Hardy - Stay - Ameena is a diamond in the hotel. Instantly recognised me, even though I hadn't been for a year. As usual nice place to stay and quiet. First time I had used the restaurant since the conversion from Brewers Fayre.
Will be back at some point
- 915sandrat (10/5): Good stay - Beccy is fantastic nothing too much trouble. It doesn't matter if she is in reception or covering in restaurant she always has a smile and a friendly word. We will be back as we have family in the area. Thank you.
- kevindV4174PX (4/5): Rubbish internet and inedible food. - Staff are without fault. Very helpful.
If you need to use a laptop for work or want to stream TV through a device I recommend you never stay here. Internet is literally non existent.
The Brewers fayre attached to it for breakfast and dinner served food I wouldn't feed a stray dog.
- Sue149 (10/5): Newly refurbished, smart, comfortable rooms. - I was given one of the recently lovely refurbished rooms on the ground floor which was a double plus divan. The bath / shower room is modern and stylish, non slip floor, refillable Baylis & Harding toiletries, plenty of hot water with a rain shower and a hand held shower. Water saving sink tap and toilet flush. Stylish decor in the room, scandi design feel. adjustable bedside lights although main lights are a bit harsh. Adequate clothes hanging and storage for a short stay. Tea, coffee and milk tops ups are available. Adjacent pub / restaurant with pleasant ambiance, good drinks / wine selection and typical pub grub food t reasonable prices. All staff very welcoming and helpful. Big car park.
- anthonycE8025BD (8/5): Long stay - Staff are extremely helpful, I was there long term for work. Bed was comfortable, loads of hot water for a bath. Black out curtains were good and it was quiet during the day for people who want to sleep on nightshift
Windows don't open which I think is a fire risk and can't get any fresh air into the room.
Have to pay £3 per day to park at the hotel
- cliveb661 (10/5): Can’t fault it - Great stay here.
Vicky and the staff are all nice.
Rooms have been refurbed and all clean and new.
Nothing bad to say.
This is our third stay and it’s always good
- LMS662014 (8/5): An overnight stop over for a gig. - The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower was a good temperature. The man in reception was courteous and helpful.
- 420mikee (4/5): Way past it's best - Firstly, the reception was staffed which is a real positive. Without exception, all of the staff from reception to cleaner were both pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately, the staff have proven to be the only real positive of the stay. Overall, the appearance of the hotel is very much down at heel and is decidedly more shabby than chic. Despite our room being 'Premier Plus' it can only be described as tired and could definitely do with a refurb. Many of the walls are badly marked. The aircon, when working is incredibly noisy and can make sleeping quite difficult. It also frequently cuts out, so maintaining a constant temperature can a bit of a struggle. In summer temperatures, it would be incredibly uncomfortable. The main areas of the room seemed clean. There is little to no adjustment to the shower head. In order to shower there is no option but to stand in the slippy area of the bath as the grippy area of the bath is in completely the wrong place to be effective. The shower screen is also ineffective resulting in the floor getting a good soaking and is no doubt responsible for the water damaged bath panel. Whoever designed this, clearly hadn't used it as all of these problems are immediately evident.
I'm pretty good with IT/tech but I couldn't get the 'ultimate WiFi' to work even with the additional instructions for Apple devices. I reported this at reception and they were aware of the issue. I was then given a slip with instructions for Apple devices. As this is clearly an acknowledged problem, why not issue this additional log on information on arrival rather than having to ask? Better still, include it with the other paraphernalia on the desk. This is a real problem if anyone needs to work on anything other than the most basic of tasks. I ended up resorting to 5G via my phone as a hotspot for much of the time which was a decided improvement as it didn't drop out every five minutes. On the upside, the bed was comfortable and clean, but this in itself is not enough for me to overlook the other shortcomings.
The breakfast was the cheapest of the cheap ingredients and can best be described as barely adequate. With the bran-flake option, I feel I'd have been better off eating the cardboard box it came in as opposed to the actual cereal. Again, further evidence of cost cutting.
The most disappointing element of the stay was having to pay £3.00 per day for parking. Given the amount we paid for the room, this is extremely mean spirited. This is unmitigated greed and designed to do nothing more than extract the absolute maximum from the customer. Over the years, I've stayed in a number of Premier Inns, and have always been satisfied. However, this is now the second time I've experienced very similar problems at opposite ends of the country. This leads me to conclude that all of this is due to company policy. This will now in all probability be my last time at a Premier Inn. Premier Inn used to be utterly reliable and enabled booking at pretty much any location with complete confidence. Now the brand has been so cheapened that it can only be described as unpleasant. As good as the bed is it doesn't make up for the rest. The staff here are really very good. However, I suspect that in common with other branches they will be 'let go' and self-service check in will be implemented. All of this is such a shame as it is now a shadow of what it once was.
TOP TIP - get food from the Tesco Express, it's only a five minute walk away!
- ashleybW7617YW (10/5): 7 months in the South West - Comfortable, clean and well maintained rooms with adequate space to relax and make full use of the facilities after a full day in work.
The staff are always helpful and make me feel welcome during my repeated visits as business trips. I genuinely couldn’t ask more.
- nibinl (10/5): Best premier inn - Amazing location with amazing staff. Plenty of walk trails near by. Hotel was easy to find, plenty of signage. If there is any issues trying to find the place the staff is amazing and will lead you in the right direction. The atmosphere in the hotel is amazing the staff make it homely and you will have a good laugh and a joke with them. The rooms are cosy and probably one of the best premier inn I stayed at.
- Ganagana358 (2/5): Cold, smelly and Neon light to keep you awake - not a ssshhhh experience - On arrival the receptionist was lovely , check in was smooth and no problems .... that was the best thing about the stay . Our room (30) was at the end of a long corridor ( why do PI always put you in a room a far way away when booking online ?) opening the door it was cold ! window open , quickly realised it was to mask the smell of sewage from the Bathroom - which was clean but old .... probably older than my age !! - the green light ( fire alarm or smoke ) was brighter than the Northern lights and I ended up climbing on the unit to put a pillow over it ... to sleep ... In the morning the curtains would not open .. stuck... Not the best stay and would not stay again
- zheas (10/5): Nice and cosy stay - Our stay here was nice and pleasant. Staff was really nice and helpful.
Would definitely recommend if you are coming with family.
- Cockle43 (8/5): Standard Premier Inn but with a star on the staff - Stayed overnight bothways as a journey break a week apart. Not many alternatives around for eating so, fortunately, the Social facility gave an acceptable standard of catering, better than most with Brewers Fayre and Beefeater, with a cooked breakfast to order rather than buffet style.
Usual Premier Inn standard rooms and facilities.
Staff were friendly, particularly Katy in the restaurant, she was a star and they should treasure her. Katy was funny, friendly, and , above all efficient. One of our party had a pill box with them to take some medication, Katy suddenly appeared at her side with a glass of water for her to take the pills with no prompting, very rarely, if ever, had that happen. Well done, Katy, it is little things like that which make a stay just that bit more pleasant and would make us stay again here in preference to others.
- Discover36941433360 (2/5): Unfair parking charge - I was very disappointed to find that Premier Inn now charges £3.50 per night for parking. In all my previous stays, parking has always been included, so this feels like an unnecessary and unfair extra charge on top of the room rate. Guests should not be expected to pay additional fees simply to park while staying at the hotel.
I have always chosen Premier Inn for good value and convenience, but this new policy has left me questioning whether I will book again in the future.
- Safari25920088741 (4/5): Foisty, Spider infested rooms. - You pay for a hotel for the room yes? So you expect it to be clean and at least decent.
Well... The rooms are f***ing disgusting! I wouldn't even pay £10 for the state of the rooms.
My first room stunk of Foist, had mould and was covered in spider webs.
Second room was a SPIDERFEST! And also had a gauge out of the bathroom door!
The receptionist was well mannered. But that's all.
The nearest McDonald's is aproximately a mile away and so is the KFC. With the only food that's walkable being their not cheap but not expensive restraunt.
Even for a stop off for ONE NIGHT. I felt unclean and dirty even once I been in the shower.
- 810anthonyw (10/5): Very good family stay - Really great experience at this Premier Inn. It's not the most prettiest of places but makes a fantastic cheap base to explore the South Lakes area by car. We stayed in a family room with 4 people. Beds were comfortable as they always are at Premier Inn. The hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were unfailingly helpful at both reception and the adjacent restaurant where breakfast is served. Premier Inn Breakfast in the brewers fayre was excellent. There is Electric car charging on site and the hotel is very close to other amenities in the retail parks as well as the Dock museum which has an good children's play area.
- Wanderer722027 (6/5): Tired dirty rooms - The hotel was undergoing a major refurbishment during our stay which we were informed about beforehand, we still decided to stay as it was a one night stop over for us.
I agree with over previous reviews that yes the hotel was tired, shabby and in need of modernisation and refurbishment, our room did smell musty and our bin had not been emptied which contained lager cans which didn’t help the smell of stale lager wafting through the room.
The bathroom did have mould in the corners and in the tile grouting which in my opinion can easily be removed with mould and mildew spray, so cleaners are responsible for this I’m guessing, unless they are not permitted to use such cleaning products which would solve the problem instantly imo.
The best experience were the two lovely ladies on reception, they went above and beyond our expectations with their friendly presence and conversation, offering recommendations on various places of interest & restaurants ( even kindly wrote down a list of places for us, thank you ladies, sorry I forgot both your names)
They explained about the refurb during check in too, it was a shame because if we had booked a few weeks later then my review would have been a 5 star, but deducted 1 star for unclean room and 1 star for general tired appearance of hotel.
5 star to the ladies though, they are usually the ones that guests moan to first.
- Meander50425515690 (10/5): A few days in Barrow to visit family. - The girls on reception, Kerry and Emma were absolutely brilliant. We had to move from the hotel we had booked and they bent over backwards to fit us in.
- Sightsee65747723165 (10/5): Spot on - We stayed there on are wedding night just to get are heads down after the wedding and the staff left us Prosecco snd chocolates in the room and sweets for the kids
- 686ariesy (4/5): Very lousy experience - Room reasonable. Facilities ok as per usual. We booked the premier plus paying the extra as I have a work call.
Thank God we managed to check in by 4pm in time to sort out the non existent wifi
Nothing works - went back to reception who has to give us a voucher
1. Why this is not given when we check in
2. One voucher only allow one device although it states that the ultimate WiFi is for 3
3. The normal WiFi doesn’t work 90 percent of the time
Basically it’s a stay with no internet. This should be outright mention so we will know what to expect
And when we paid extra for the wifi we do expect that it is provide as paid - None
- netonthenet (8/5): Double check booking requirements - Just check if you are booking a “Twin” room that it is for two single beds and not really a family room with a double bed and a sofa/pull-out bed
- KathrynC1768 (10/5): 5 star night - We had a really great experience. We stayed 1 night, the reception staff were super helpful & friendly. The room was clean, the tea & coffee was stocked well. We had evening meal & breakfast, the food was fantastic. Would definitely book here again.
- romasm846 (4/5): Not great stay - On arrival was advised that only family room available was one for disabled people, meaning room had no bathtube, but a walk in shower with all the fitted handles, bars and chairs. Light bulbs in the room and shower were so dim, it was way too dark all the time. The floor was squeeking loudly. The noise from the road was way too loud at night. And the worst was the smell. It smelled like medicine of some sort, and it was so strong that after leaving the hotel all the clothes even in the luggage had soked in the smell. Worst stay in Premier Inn to this day.
Review based on our experience only.
- sarahpN3072RS (2/5): The worst experience ever - We have stayed in many premier inns over the years and usually have had a positive experience , this one however was terrible , it was dirty, staff were rude , and one fan that didn’t work properly !
On arrival we were told they were under refurbishment and I could pay extra for a premier plus room which had aircon , I said yes please the guy told me how great these rooms are etc etc and the price but then said but we have none !!!!
We went to our room it smelled musty and also a stale smell of sick , sheets were dirty and the heat was unbearable 😩
We promptly left !!!
One of the cleaners said come back in six weeks things will be better then !!!
- Compass40641234629 (2/5): Dangerous for Kids and a health hazard hotel due to mould in rooms. - The hotel from hell. The FAMILY room we booked for our "rest easy" holiday smelt of mould so strongly we complained in the first 10 secs. The hotel reception had to explain that the whole hotel smelt of mould, Premier Inn are aware, and every room is as bad and smells of mould as the next. The room was run down, the bathroom also stunk of mould and was covered in it. It was hard and uncomfortable to sleep in the room as it was damp and smelt of mould so badly. The kids cried, the wife cried and it basically ruined the holiday. On Friday night the room above played music so loud the whole hotel complained, and then the same room did it again Saturday, and all this whilst breathing in mould. Premier inn should be ashamed to advertise and rent rooms out in this condition. Premier inn are so aware of the mould situation in ALL the rooms, (i complained and staff took me around another 2 rooms and they ALL smelt) they are referbishing the hotel due to the mould, but still rented the room out. That's admission in the first instance. I will be taking my children to the Drs as my eldest now has a cough after 3 nights sleeping in that bio hazard of a room and I'm worried it's due to spores. Why didn't I book another hotel? Well, after driving 5 hours and it being our only holiday, with no refund, plus a bank holiday wknd, every other hotel was full!. Awful, disgusting, dangerous and a health hazard. Premier Inn, you should be ashamed.
- S9937VYalisonl (4/5): Dissapointingly poor alll round: would not reccomend. - We stayed as a couple in a double room , plus family member in an accessible rooming the annexe building.
THE BAD
Both rooms looked old, tired & not particularly clean generally- bathrooms in particular.
There was peeling paint/ wallpaper in both rooms and in general areas of reception & restaurant.
A stale/stagnant smell was in both rooms ? due to what/from where?- note several other reviews mention this.
The carpet in our room(50) was " sticky" in places so quickly decided it was shoes on" all the time.
Outdoor areas by restaurant/pub untidy & dirty Friday evening g to Sunday morning- rubbish on ground, cigarette butt's.
Very poor customer service from
check- in Friday evening to check out Sunday morning shown by unfriendly staff minimal eye contact with us, no recognition when we approached desk- continued their own staff conversations or looking at laptop.
Poor customer service in restaurant at breakfast time also from the the few staff there were. Only exception was the young waitress in restsurant on Friday evening who was friendly & really helpful.
MANAGEMENT NEED TO CONSIDER
Inadequate number of "DisabledParking " spaces- 3 for whole hotel ( aware this is dependant on local authority planning), a disabled space would have been needed disabled space
THE GOOD
- Table Table restaurant waitress
evening of Friday 22nd August
-Location, easily accessible & easy
to get around Barnstsble
- Comfy bed, quiet room.
- 836tonys (10/5): Quiet small hotel, good service - Easy to find, very self contained small hotel located on an industrial park. Room quiet and comfortable, food choices very good. If there is any criticism, there is nothing else around so eating in the hotel is pretty much the only option, although this was not a problem for me, the meal deal is good value for money.
- Relax279584 (2/5): Shocking - You don't care about you customers. I complain many times dis make any difference lasker themangemt to ring bsck nothing
- 450nevillep (6/5): Too hot too handle - Ok if you want to sleep in a sauna and it wasn’t not hot outside so that was not making rooms hotter .
Website says no conditioning in hotel so did not book premier plus but apparently there is so miss sold .
Hardly any staff around and restaurant very basic .
- jacks0nrichard (2/5): Avoid Barnstaple Premier Inn - Room was swelteringly hot, room smelt appallingly seemingly from bathroom, duvet was stained and horrible. Mentioned room issues to receptionist who said the rooms are disgusting and that it is known by Premier Inn. Would not stay here again.
- jeremymckeown55 (2/5): Terrible. Appalling smell in the bedroom and no air conditioning or decent ventilation. - The room had an intolerable odour, possibly stale water on the carpet or possibly sewage from the bathroom. They were unable to move me and I was unable to stay for the second night so had to move to (and pay for) another hotel. There was no customer service after 5pm so have been unable to secure a refund.
- DanSpray1 (4/5): Regularly visitor through work - Staff are good as a whole (Amy, Emma, Steve and Rob- you couldn't wish for better). Unfortunately you can't say the same for the management. Cleaners - let's not bother with them. Maintenance- who needs that!
The building is grotty and the breakfast bar is constantly running out of stock and the coffee machine is a standing joke!
To be perfectly honest, save your money on the hotel and buy a tent, you'll be alot better off!
- BobblenoseWarwicks (10/5): The staff here are stars! - Very enjoyable stay. I liked the new Social cafe-bar (better than Brewers Fayre or Beefeater pubs). The bedroom as usual was spotless and comfortable, the bathroom too was clean, but the water pressure was such that when I slightly turned on my sink-tap, water sprayed all over me.
The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful, but Katy is amazing and obviously loves her job!
- 896kerit (2/5): Absolutely boiling - The hotel room was unbearably warm. 27°C at night, even when it was cool outside. It was uncomfortable to just exist in that room. I will never stay there again.
- wixon (8/5): Friendly, efficient, comfortable - We were warmly welcomed and the checkin process was quick. (Check out was also very easy.) The room was comfortable, quiet, relaxing and clean. Breakfast was the usual... Good selection and availability. You could eat enough for a whole day here.
- X7812YZmarcj (10/5): Great stay. - Excellent stay at this hotel. Received a warm welcome from the receptionist and check in was quick and easy. My room was clean, tidy and contained everything required. The breakfast was delicious too. I'd definitely stay here again.
- JS747 (10/5): Would definitely stay again - Quiet comfy room. Reception staff so friendly patient and helpful. I had to be here for a week due to hospital visiting. They couldn't have been more kind though a difficult time. Great at sorting out extending my stay as i needed it. Also house keeping quiet kind and very good at their job. The hotel has the museum next door and a great walk along the estuary. I would definitely stay again.
- AvaTravelling (10/5): Excellent. Perfect location - Welcoming clean and bright hotel. Parking layout excellent and easy to access. Friendly guy called Nick on reception very helpful and knowledgeable about hotel and local area. Bedrooms spacious and well laid out, furniture in good condition. Everywhere spotless. Well stocked tea/coffee and bathroom items. Comfy bed. Quiet area no noise outside, very peaceful. Close to town for entertainment, eating, supermarkets etc 5 minute walk and very close to country walks and beach at the other side, perfect location.
- pp78322 (2/5): Air Conditioning does NOT work here!! Avoid! - Like others have mentioned, despite advertising that the family rooms have air conditioning/air cooling, it does not work! This is an older premier inn and the rooms are very dated.
We stayed in a family room, 2 adults and 2 kids in summer and it was unbearably stuffy! The air con is running but it is just blowing out warm air! 4 people in one room where you can’t open a window either! Honestly, don’t book here. Staff are aware this is an issue but there is nothing they can do. Head office - sort this out!!!! Unacceptable for families paying good money for a very poor experience. Don’t stay at this hotel. TIP: we stayed at Ulverston Premier Inn and this was MUCH better. Air conditioning was ice cold!
