Guest Reviews
- jayne_family (10/5): A great hotel with wonderful staff & food, definitely recommend it - Stayed at the Premier in readiness for my son’s graduation, perfectly situated in the centre of Cambridge, a very short walk to Senate House. So many things to see and do nearby. Staff could not have been nicer, each and every one of them. We were allowed to keep the room a little longer and when we checked out they kept our suitcases safe until we were ready to leave (thanks Sabrina). Would recommend to anyone. Beautiful clean pleasant rooms, amazing staff, and the food was really good too. 10/10 thank you!
- 891paulines (10/5): Excellent value for Money - Premier Inn centre of Cambridge great location for Cambridge Corn Exchange and all eateries. Fabulously clean and tidy. Staff helpful. Nothing too much trouble.
- BLK82 (6/5): Staff cut backs are evident. - We stayed here on a Sunday, and typically Premier Inn is a safe choice - and as far as the room was concerned it was clean, tidy, fresh - but at this relatively new Premier Inn, it is Whitbreads staff cut backs that let the location down.
Let’s start with check in… it was exactly 3pm, and the lobby was crowded, one colleague on the desk and 2 self serve terminals - we were fine with self check in, but the demographic of the other customers demonstrated a human touch was required- interesting a man (not in uniform) but seemed to know the system spent time helping some of the older customers- sadly this created more confusion as people were weary of a non uniformed colleague. Anyway, the self serve terminal worked perfectly for us and we even added breakfast (turned out to be a mistake).
We went to our room, and as mentioned above we had no complaints, we had spent the day shopping so thought we’d grab refreshments at the in-house bar - as we approached the colleague told us “bar is closed - I’m still checking guests in” - so we took our business into the city. This seems shortsighted from Premier Inn as they should be creating an entire hotel leisure experience.
The nights sleep was fine, and the shower in the morning refreshing.
Breakfast- chaotic, again one colleague, dirty plates on tables, no butter or bread at one point, juice running low and certain hot items (black pudding and mushrooms) not being cooked. The colleague whilst friendly was calling everyone “buddy” and was being run ragged - at 9am it appeared other staff came on duty and helped him.
The 10.99 per breakfast was on this occasion not good value nor a good experience.
I raised the above with customers services who brushed it off with a generic response and said in future speak to the manager - well at check out reception was unmanned so somewhat of a challenge.
Premier Inn - you have a great product, don’t allow staff cuts to ruin it.
- Tourist40618579392 (10/5): Excellent stay in Cambridge - Perfect location, clean and big room which was really quiet. The staff Jack and Dal were incredibly friendly and efficient and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
The world needs more Jacks, thank you for your hospitality x
- jamesbH379EV (4/5): Hotel and staff amazing - parking charge for blue badge drop off ruined the experience - I live local and had plans to use the Hotel for my parents to stay and visit me. They can not longer stay at my home due to reduced mobility issues and my mum can not use the stairs. The staff were amazing very friendly and so helpful I can not give then enough credit. the room was very clean and the experience with the staff was 10/10.
The main reason I'm writing this review is to warn future guests who are travelling to stay at the hotel with a blue badge. There is a drop off period of 20mins then all guest have to pay for parking even if you display a blue badge. I have received a Parking Charge from parkmaven of £100 because I went over the drop off period by 2:30 min's. despite being the only person available to safety assist both parents with their mobility issues, manage their mobility equipment, and transport their belongings to their room.
I hope the management team will read this, review and change the drop off policy for future guest's. I'm so sorry to the staff who work at this hotel all your hard work has been overshadowed by this private parking company and their disgraceful parking fine. Management team should also have a read of the Equality Act 2010, especially the line about service providers including parking operators acting on behalf of a hotel required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people and those supporting them.
- W2366YRkathryne (10/5): Quality stay for great value - Perfect night sleep, clean, quiet, friendly, helpful and spot on location - you do have to park off site and the parking is expensive but it's a minutes walk and worth it for the stay
- CSS41503 (10/5): Fantastic location! - Lovely new Premier Inn right in the heart of Cambridge city centre. Conveniently located for shopping, bars, restaurants, central colleges and museums. Rooms were very clean, check in efficient and breakfast the following morning was excellent. The only downside is the parking but then I guess this is the consequence of being in the centre of an historic old town. We parked for 25 hours in the Queen Anne terrace car park (a 15 min walk away from the hotel) and it was £24.90. On reflection, the park and ride may have been a better option. Despite this, we would have no hesitation in returning to Cambridge and to the premier inn!
- spanmarie (10/5): Coeliac - Gluten free breakfast really nice. - We stayed here end of November for one night, for a visit to chatsworth Christmas market.
We had a really good stay, room was clean, bed comfy, although I personally found the pillows uncomfortable on my neck.
The staff were really friendly.
We had breakfast in the morning. I’m coeliac and dairy intolerant so eating out is always a worry. I was given the allergen menu upon asking to have a look at. The girl serving on the counter to book us in for breakfast in the morning said she would wash all my cutlery and plates, and my hot food would be cooked separately. My toast would be cooked under the grill separately also.
The allergen menu was really easy to navigate and read. There were plenty of options for me to eat. Gf cereal, alternative milk, although I took my own almond milk. Hot options, including a vegan sausage (no gf meat sausage) - I’m not vegan, but the vegan sausage was horrid. I had gf bread, and df spread on the buffet area in separate packages.
The food was nice, and I felt safe eating here, so nice that they are very aware of how to deal with coeliac disease and allergies.
I would like to thank the staff, and especially Charlotte who served me on the morning of 26th November. Extremely helpful, and many thanks. As eating out is always really stressful.
- debbiefromet9 (4/5): Disrespectful and Disgusting - On the weekend I met my sister at the Premiere Inn in the City of Cambridge, which we do quite often, but 2pm in the early hours of the morning we were shocked out of our sleep, the Alarm went off and we were so shaken up but after five minutes it went off, so we got back into bed, then once again it went off for ages, now were at a senior age and evacuated out of the building to walk in that freezing cold weather around the block in out nighties with a coat over it,
When we arrived round the other side, there was a woman screaming shouting but she kept letting the Alarms off.
We was told it’s ok this woman does it a lot, she’s often comes in here to sit and put her phone on the Charger!!! My argument is we’ll sort it out, remove the chairs and phone chargers because this is disrespectful and disgusting we paid to stay in that hotel to relax together, we was up all night because of this selfish woman, we had to go home Saturday morning because we were to exhausted to go shopping together.
We put in a complaint only to be told it’s not their fault!!! Really
All we asked for was another night free of charge due to this ruined weekend, that isn’t a lot to ask
Deborah Fromet
- F7069PIlyndar (2/5): Don’t stay in Premier Inn, City centre Cambridge if you want a guaranteed good nights sleep…. - We were having a lovely Friday/Saturday together only to be woke up at 2am by the fire alarm, we left by the fire exit that took us outside and round the hotel back to the lower ground foyer only to find a woman mouthing off at a member of staff who said this was not the first time she has come into the hotel and set the fire alarm off because she was under some sort of influence, the alarm was intermittent for over 1/2 hour we went back to bed around 3am got no sleep and left Cambridge at 1pm with no shopping done as we were absolutely exhausted.
We complained to their customer relations only for them to say (after I had to chase them 4 days later) it was not their fault so no compensation what so ever so where is the justice… we are not happy at all with them.
- brad105 (10/5): Excellent value for money - Excellent experience, warm welcome at reception, room clean and tidy and breakfast was very enjoyable. The staff were brilliant always offering assistance and overall excellent value for money.
- lisawH5634OS (10/5): Handy For a gig! - Fantastic location for Corn Exchange Gig.
Best bed I've ever slept in.
Huge Room, great staff, help yourself to tea, coffee! can't wait to return 😀
- sallycO4151WB (10/5): Excellent, can't praise it enough to do justice - This is a first class Premier Inn, a cut above the usual standards. It is right in the centre of Cambridge, ideal for the city, university and hospitals. The staff were all absolutely wonderful, could not do enough for us and gave an exceptional level of care, professionalism and personal care and friendship, we were visiting hospital and needed it. It's a new hotel, well appointed and very clean. The food was well above the usual standard for this chain, they have chef prepared meals which were delicious and make a big difference. It's very reasonable for city centre, quiet, and the service really excellent. Highly recommended, we will go back there without hesitation.
- 803ninoa (10/5): Would Recommend - Went with two friends and stayed 4 nights. Best part of Premier Inn Buxton - the staff, all very friendly and helpful. Do a good meal deal if you have breakfast and evening meal, well worth it.
Down points, sofas in bar area, could do with replacing or re upholstering. There are some areas that could do with a bit of TLC.
- craigtG4639FE (10/5): One of the best Premier inns - Lovely room very clean eveywhere, staff were very friendly and food was excellent, we will be staying again highly recommend this one
- C6236DRcharlieb (10/5): Lovely Team - Lovely attentive staff, always with a smile on their faces! Everyone is so helpful all the time and is always willing to get you what you need :)
- andreakH4726MH (10/5): Would stay again - Very friendly staff, room was clean and bed was comfy.
The majority of breakfast was excellent, beans could have been a bit warmer but the sausages and bacon were good quality and cooked how I like them.
- amandagJ5331GH (10/5): Brilliant - would definitely recommend! - The staff were brilliant - particularly Molly, but nothing was too much trouble for any of them.
We were staying in an accessible room which was really well equipped and very comfortable.
Breakfast was amazing too - plenty of everything and all piping hot.
- joeandstacey2015 (10/5): recommended location for all Cambridge has to offer - We had a very comfortable stay at Premier Inn. The room was spacious, clean, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing night. The bed was especially comfortable. Breakfast was excellent — a wide variety of options, all fresh and well-prepared.
- brownchris509 (10/5): Clean rooms and good service well located next to brewers fayre and near town - Arrived in heavy rain, warm reception at book in. Rooms were clean and tidy and quiet and reasonably priced. Able to park car FOC in car park outside hotel. When room ceiling leaked due to heavy rain receptionist very helpful and moved us straight away to adjacent room. Free good Wi-Fi. Ate meal deal in Brewers Fayre next door which was good in value and choice.
- nolanz2019 (10/5): Tracy and Jack thanks - Clean, quiet, comfortable hotel...the breakfast staff were very nice...Tracy and Jack are exceptionally professional and friendly, which is a plus for this hotel
- soniar428 (2/5): Would be wary of returning - I thought I'd be writing a good review for this hotel, our accessible room was spacious and clean, with a blissfully comfortable bed.
Unfortunately, we ate dinner there, and breakfast the following morning, and 12 hours after checking out I started with food poisoning symptoms and have been ill since.
- amandagD9982LJ (10/5): great - Daughter and I had a lovely stay here. I personally love a premier inn and this one did not disappoint. the service in the restaurant was fantastic (Jamie I think) and food arrived quickly and was delicious.
- stephencY9900YG (2/5): Rip off parking system! - Stay anywhere else, or be prepared to pay an extra £100 a night for parking. There payment system is designed to trip you up. You have been warned!!
- Valerie999999 (8/5): Relaxed Stay Great Location - Excellent Location. Friendly Staff. Clean Room and Bathroom Comfy Bed
Good Breakfast Good Value for a Central Location
- 47LucyH (10/5): Right in the centre of town. Usual PI high quality, reasonable price and comfy bed. - Warm welcome and easy check in. Right in the centre of town, next to everything! Shopping, sights, market, Corn Exchange. Good access for buses from the station.
The usual wonderful comfy PI bed, and fantastic huge and hot shower. Good breakfast. Great place to stay.
- jennyhM8657LQ (10/5): Great hotel and friendly staff - I enjoyed my brief stay at this hotel - it's the second time I've stayed. The room was great and the staff very friendly. It's on an estate, so there is a little bit of noise but nothing too bad.
- Trail42620331921 (10/5): Great experience - Excellent location, rooms immaculate, friendly staff and overall fantastic value. Would highly recommend to any sort of traveller to the city.
- juliecG3830VX (8/5): First visit to Cambridge - This Hotel is central, very close to the Corn Exchange theatre. Clean, comfortable and quiet room. A good breakfast, with helpful friendly staff.
We parked at the park and ride which was definitely the best option.
- colinsZ5129XJ (10/5): staff are excellent here. - we spent a long weekend here for our planned visit to chatsworth house.
we found that this premier inn is clean tidy and comfortable.
we also found the staff were excellent, polite and very helpful
they also gave us some very helpful information in regards to chatsworth house to help us plan our day out.
the food here is also very nice
Colin from Reading
- douglassh544 (10/5): Very Nice Hotel/Restaurant - Very nice restaurant and service. Food was excellent. Jack was great! Room was very spacious and quiet. Would come back again!
- C8304RCjennyl (10/5): Would stay again - Great location, shops and places to eat within easy access. Parking was easy.
Staff were very friendly.
We did have a light on the ceiling not working and loose toilet seat but stay was great.
- 202valeryk (10/5): Great values for money in a central location - It is a great value for money. The hotel is not too visible from the outside (though signs help to find it), but it is very nice inside. Great location, nice facilities, decent service. Wi-fi was a bit slow, but otherwise, we were very content. Totally recommend!
- BEEKIND22 (10/5): Clean, Tidy Room & Exceptional Service from Zak - Clean and tidy room. Great location in the heart of Cambridge, with plenty of restaurants and top colleges all within walking distance. What made my stay even more special was the excellent service from Zak at the front desk. Despite what seemed to be long working hours, he remained pleasant, attentive, and answered all my queries with a smile. Truly outstanding customer service!
- danielpK4342BP (10/5): Awesome. - Quiet rooms, clean, your usual Premier Inn hotel.
Except - GREAT service and humour - even an offer (tongue in cheek) to cut up my dinner because of a bandage around two of my fingers!
Always good at this location.
- juliejQ2041RN (10/5): Staff are very friendly - We come here every year for speedway but now we come to do our Christmas shopping in Cardiff instead since speedway doesnt come here anymore, we always meet family here on the day we arrive so we get to spend time with them as well, tbh i wouldn't stay anywhere else as the staff are lovely and very helpful plus we have started bringing my daughters assistant dog as well which makes it even more enjoyable for her
- Meander526029 (10/5): Fantastic - Amazing staff!
Kit the manager goes above and beyond to make sure my stay is catered for!
Charmaine the receptionist is my personal hero! Always make me laugh and feel welcome on arrival and departure
Cleaners! Too many to name personally are always on hand before 2pm to make sure my room is spotless! I couldn’t complement this hotel enough.
And steve the Mainteneance man is the funniest human ever 😊
- Trail23474191303 (6/5): Very dated and worn hotel - The staff were very helpful and friendly.
This was the best of the 2 in the aera, in great need of renovation, the rooms were very warn down, the bathroom fans don't work and the bathrooms smell.
- L2174RXdeanh (10/5): Permier inn, buxton. - Had a great stay at the permier inn, buxton. The room was spacious, and clean ,the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great and lots of it with plenty of choice. Overall, a great experience and ill definitely be returning for another stay.
- SC_derbyshire (8/5): Comfortable & convenient!! - Convenient and reasonably comfortable except the rooms were a bit smelly - a bit look old socks & damp carpet!! Moved room & though a bit better I went out & bought a scented room spray!! Evening meal ok.. plenty of choice & meal deal was good value. Breakfast excellent. Rooms & dining room in need of a refurb. Comfy beds & a good nights sleep!! Good parking but at a cost!
- debrob2017 (8/5): Decent hotel - Decent hotel really. Fairly clean a little bit tired in places. Nice and quiet room.
Food not too bad. It’s not five star but it’s value for money
- andrewcX5870RG (8/5): Great example of the chain, and done really nicely. Well done. - Great little hotel tucked in behind a lovely pub. Service was good, air con worked a treat, and there wasn't any extra noise from traffic or neighbouring sites. A great night's sleep and the breakfast next door was top notch.
- michaelatX8293FG (10/5): 5 Stars to Buxton Premier Inn - Very impressed with this hotel. Staff were really welcoming, bedroom was clean and tidy. Beds comfortable. Literally no complaints. Would highly recommend.
- SRP1969 (6/5): Good for non premium overnight stay! - Nice and helpful staff, rooms were ok, but not great. Ok for a stop over.
Brewers fair next door was good for a beer and a nice breakfast. I would stay again if in the area.
- janebX7254JZ (10/5): Birthday getaway - What a lovely hotel. Immaculately clean, with the best breakfast we have had for ages. We chose a Premier Plus room and loved it. Great views and great bathroom. The fridge was great as we like to use fresh milk. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
- dannymR8568SI (2/5): Horrible experience - Horrible experience. £300 to stay in one room with soiled sheets, and to be moved to another with blood stained ceiling. Very dissapointed
- jilliancK2334JK (10/5): Great location - Great location for visiting Buxton City Centre and Bakewell. Polite friendly staff. Great breakfast. Looking forward to returning.
- suedS7321KK (10/5): Great customer service! - Stayed at Crossways last weekend....big THANK YOU to Kit on reception...he went above and beyond to sort out a problem....thanks ...Great customer service!
- Nvrsnewcastle (2/5): Far too hot, filthy room, noisy neighbours - We’ve stayed here many times. Premier Inn is a go to because normally you know what you will get and that includes a comfortable, good night’s sleep, undisturbed, in a clean room. Not this time. We had two nights in room 111 - which was fine except the room was far too hot (the air con wouldn’t go below 19, but the temperature in the room was way above). However, our third night was in room 4.
We were exhausted from the day’s activities and just needed a good night’s sleep. The air con was set at 27 (!) when we got in the room and it was oppressive. However, it did cool slightly when I turned it down - this one went to 17. Again, no actual cooling and a trickle of less warm air came out of the vent.
That wasn’t the worst. We went to bed early as we were exhausted and were woken by the occupants of Room 6. The rooms had interconnecting doors. We could hear every word of their conversations. Which were intermittent so just as we dropped off we were woken again.
The light of day highlighted how filthy the room was. Furniture caked in dust (I could feel it in my throat too), skirting boards had a layer of dust, and there were cobwebs on the walls.
Really, really, disappointed as this is not the standard or the experience we have come to expect.
We brought these to the attention of a staff member at check out whose response was “awww, sorry”. Great service Premier Inn!
- Voyager01798404798 (10/5): Lovely hotel - The room was lovely and cool children’s beds were good too and it’s nice to have extra pillows, and air conditioning the staff are always friendly and great to children.
- wk340 (8/5): Good - The breakfast, location, and room were all excellent. However, the lobby carpet had an unpleasant smell, and there was no air conditioning. Fortunately, we brought our own fan, as the pedestal fan provided was ineffective and barely circulated any air. Additionally, room cleaning service was not provided despite our request, which was disappointing.
- K1673UClouisec (4/5): Far too hot. Poor ventilation. - We have stayed in a few Premier Inns and do appreciate the value for money they offer. We have, however, often experienced ventilation problems with the ones that are in older buildings. We hoped for better in a purpose built one, but that proved not to be the case. The communal areas didn't look very clean and when we entered the room there was a strong, unpleasant smell that I couldn't identify, althoughthe room appeared clean. The windows have safety fittings and they can only be opened a small amount - so it was impossibleto get more fresh air in. The temperature in the room was showing as 27 degrees which was far in excess of the outside temperature and there was no means of cooling it down. I noticed a portable plug in heater in the room - so it might be an idea to supply a fan or portable aircon unit. There were two towels: one nice and fluffy and clean looking and the other quite grey and thin. The ceiling around the bathroom extractor was damaged looking and it took ages for the steam to clear following a shower.
- DayTrip22167424849 (4/5): Needs updating - We had 3 rooms. 2 in the main building and one in the outer building. The rooms in the main building are extremely hot and very dated. No air conditioning in these rooms. Everything needs a good refurbishment. There’s rust around the fittings and mirror. You can’t sleep as the rooms are extremely hot. One of lights didn’t work and flimsy lamp shades and curtains with dated fabric. They rooms need decorating as look drab and old. The room in the outer building had air conditioning and was more modern but we were given one bath towel. We asked for more and were given one more. There were no hand towels or bath mat.
I would not stay there again. I’ve stayed in a lot of Premier Inns and this was by far the worse. If you want a good night sleep book somewhere else.
- Freedom65735407885 (6/5): Okay hotel, nice staff but far too warm! - Nice enough hotel for a short stay. Free parking, room was a good size and comfortable bed. Reception staff very welcoming. Unfortunately, the room was 25°c with no way of cooling it. Far too hot to sleep well and noisy machine outside the window along with drilling early in the morning so a difficult night's sleep all in all.
- Quest54637340957 (8/5): Lovely room - We had a lovely 2 night stay while visiting family. Lovely comfortable room. Very clean and spacious.
Only let down was when checking in, the lady wasn’t that friendly and we felt like an inconvenience by checking in. She couldn’t get us out of the way quick enough!
How you are greeted is an important part of the stay.
- apriltom (10/5): Comfortable and friendly stopover - Comfortable bed, clean room, plenty of parking, good onsite pub/restaurant, top ups for tea, coffee and milk available and lovely staff. McDonalds and a Costa next door too! what more does one need?! We always stay at this hotel when in the area if a room is available.
- J7933GGdawnc (8/5): Good reliable accommodation with lovely staff - Good accommodation as expected. A few minor issues- only one towel provided which was threadbare and the hairdryer didn’t work but room fine.
Corridors needed a good clean and towel rail and shower rail a bit rusty.
None of this caused a real problem as staff very good, friendly and helpful.
- 989tracieh (6/5): Don't bother - Okay turn up & met by old lady coming out hotel say only 20 mins early and they wouldn't let in or pay £15. Felt sorry for her. So we went in and had put reg number for carpark . The male behind the Reception didn’t even smile. Even when we came back at 3pm the male reception didn’t really say hello. To me he didn’t want to be there. Any way went to room upstairs there old smell in room & bathroom room. Room looks tired and could do with up dated. There rips in duvet cover. Very shocked with. Couldn't the cleaner notice it. The key should work with light it doesn't because we wasn't told the card all ready in the room got to be use for lights. Bathroom not good. Over all would I stay here again? No I would. Sad as we use premier lot. Please up dated these room. One worse hotel we stayed in.
- Z3212YWfreds (4/5): Travelled for a wedding- room awful - Stayed for 2 nights in March, 13-15th. On arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly. Once I got to my room (304) after opening the door, the smell of body odur was strong, I tried to open a window, windows don't open, I sprayed my deodorant, in the bathroom the toilet hadn't been flushed, urine stains on the wall by the side of the toilet. The bathroom mirror had smear marks and what looks like phlegm. Bath/shower had no mat. The double room was in fact 2 single beds on wheels, in-between and underneath the 2nd bed was food crumbs, sweets and rubbish. The mattress was awful, lumpy and every time I got on or off the bed it moved. Lovely area, great staff but the room was awful, maybe an off day? Reported it to staff
