Guest Reviews
- S3158ZTelainem (10/5): Last Minute Overnight Break - I’ve stayed in quite a few of these hotels but have to say this was the best. Room staff and breakfast all fantastic nothing too much bother! My husband hummed and hawed about booking breakfast but so glad we did it made our break x. Wished we’d booked extra night! We will be back’
- D5290VWamandac (4/5): Shabby room but everything else nice - The room it self was shabby. A strange stain on a chair which we didnt use, scuffs and stains on the wall and an awful smell of urine in the bathroom. The views of the bins were not ideal either. Don't think I would stay again unless I could guarantee a clean room.
Staff were gorgeous, breakfast good and the bar / check in area is great - i loved the swap box for books and the spare toiletries for charity.
- scottgW2257OY (10/5): Best stay. - The girls here are the friendliest & welcoming you will find. I have been staying here while working away from home for the past year+ & have been made to feel like family. Always met with a smile, some top-notch banter & nothing is ever to much bother. Rooms are spacious, the food is delicious & filling. Can't thank the girls enough for my experience during my stays. If you are planning to stay in Berwick upon Tweed do yourself a massive favour book here.
- L7575CKsimonm (10/5): Relaxing - Good atmosphere with friendly staff
Very clean room
Great value for money
Excellent location with good restaurants nearby
- 616jakej (10/5): Very welcome stay. - Great place to stay, close to the event we came down for.
Very attentive and helpful staff.
Food was good, couldn’t fault it.
Bed was very comfortable and room just right for our needs.
- Footprints616991 (6/5): Average - Staff are amazing, very friendly. The standard rooms themselves are very tired and need some TLC. The ceiling is stained and tiles coming down in places. Chips on skirting boards in bathroom, shower is ancient and the head needs replacing. Overall a good stay though, normal standard of cleanliness that you expect with Premier Inn, along with the comfy bed.
- Nomad30682236996 (10/5): Another amazing stay at the Burgess Hill Premier Inn - Another amazing stay at the Burgess Hill Premier Inn. I stayed overnight Saturday 15/11 and returned Tuesday 18/11/2025. The staff were fantastic especially Zack. He recognised me and personally welcomed me back. He was an absolute gentleman. He served me in the restaurant, gave me directions to the nearest supermarket and gave me my preferred ground floor room for this stay and pre-booked a another ground floor room for my planned return visit in December. I cannot thank him enough. Fantastic service. Mark Kearskey
- lesevans2024 (6/5): Evening Meal - The service given by Alison in the restaurant was fantastic. Most definitely Service with a smile. Unfortunately the quality of the food was not so good. The pitta bread that came with the Chicken Tikka Skewers was rock hard and inedible.
- 909elaineg (10/5): Pleasant stay, great location - Pleasant stay, warm and comfortable accommodation, good breakfast and evening meal deal. Pleasant staff. Convenient location.
- O327UQpetern (8/5): Good place to stay. just take ear plugs. - The staff make the hotel, The room was good and Wifi good. Noise between floor levels need some improvment, it sounded like a horse above my room, this was with diffent people.
- 602zarac (10/5): Having a nice time with family - I’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Premier Inn Berwick-upon-Tweed for their great customer service during our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing break. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing—great quality and plenty of choice.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s genuinely the best hotel I’ve stayed in, and we’ll definitely be returning!
- D2959GNsimond (4/5): far too hot - room was so hot that we got no sleep , turned radiator down but was still very over heated, asked reception staff and was told it was automatic , left the place very tired, its a shame because it was clean and staff were very helpful
- Stephaniedawson (4/5): Crazily hot in the room - So the hotel is in a good location and the staff were very friendly but…… the room was akin to the temperature of the sun and nothing could be done apparently. We were told that an engineer had been requested “some time ago” and were offered a fan. It was nearly impossible to sleep both nights even out of the bed sheets - I would not risk this place again - the windows are sealed in the room so no option to get any air. If you like sleeping in a sauna this hotel is for you!
- sandk38 (10/5): Outstanding hotel accommodation at affordable price - Staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. Outstanding. Food first class. Ample parking spaces. If we are this way again then we'll definitely book here. Extremely happy to recommend. We had a great breakfast. Food allergies and tolerances expertly catered for. Cannot praise this hotel enough
- 40lalat (8/5): Comfortable stay - Very lovely premier inn, different from other premier inns. Enjoyed our stay. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast just normal. Room was clean and spacious.
- 828gillm (8/5): Great staff - The restaurant and reception staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Always smiling. Always obliging. The integrated restaurant was much nicer than those open to the public.
One morning there were last night's chips under the breakfast table. The carpet really needed a good hoover. On day our room was not cleaned although we followed the procedure correctly. The room was spacious, clean and ready when we checked in. Overall the quality of the staff made this a most enjoyable stay.
- 669cindyt (10/5): Thumbs up for this Hotel Friendly and helpful. - Staff very helpful nothing to much trouble. Had a slight problem with our room and was moved and upgraded.
Food was very nice breakfast available. Only downfall not car changing points we had to go pay £5 to park overnight and extra to charge the car but no big problem.
- M449OMmikek (10/5): Warm and friendly staff - First class service from warm and friendly bar and restaurant staff. Excellent spacious clean room too. 5 Stars all round.
- Stay18182659890 (6/5): Time your arrival - Don't arrive before 3pm or you will need to pay to drop off your luggage or freshen up.
Adequate parking spaces but the EV charging point was out of order, so had to drive back to town.
- 255cydneya (10/5): Great Team! - We had a great stay, so much so we almost slept through breakfast! Lucas and Fern very kindly got us fed still with a delicious breakfast. Delightful team and will be staying again! Thank you!
- K3771FIrichardw (10/5): Fantastic - Probably the best Premier Inn I've ever been to. Everything was new & clean & all of the staff were so friendly and helpful.
- Jonneyboy990 (8/5): Pleasant weekend stay - Comfortable and excellent staff and food. Highly recommend. Pleasantly quiet. Lovely area for walking and plenty to do.
- colingM5474DI (10/5): Great hotel for any occasion - A great hotel, always a fantastic option when in Berwick, we will be back and look forward to knowing the room and facilities will be satisfactory
- johngF5190UP (10/5): Very good experience - Very good experience at this handily placed Premier Inn, within a quiet area of the town centre. A friendly welcome on arrival, allocated a ground floor room. Everything worked well in the room, which was clean and well equipped. Those with mobility issues might find the location at the bottom of the town a bit of a challenge, but we managed fine - a town bus stops opposite and taxis are plentiful. Recommended.
- michaelhT2543XN (8/5): Overnight Stay in Berwick - brilliant location for berwick right next to the free car park, means you do not need to carry your bags etc up the big hill. the staff were very friendly especially susan who made us feel very welcome. Hotel was clean and tidy and was decent value for money.
- L9210PNannar (10/5): Excellent stay - Fantastic, friendly, professional staff. We stayed for two nights - enjoying breakfast both mornings and one evening meal - excellent food and service. Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.
- baggyworm (6/5): Convenient Location But A Bit Run Down - We like the location of this hotel being fairly close to Brighton but far enough out to be relaxed and away from the busy area.
The hotel is looking a bit run down these days and the rooms could do with refurbishing. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel which used to be a Beefeater, but is now only for hotel residents. The breakfast and evening meals were good quality and enjoyable although here is a lack of atmosphere.
One thing to be aware of is that there are a lot of learner drivers in driving school cars using the car park to practice their parking skills.
- harrylins (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Been to a lot of premier inns but this must be the best we have stopped in.the staff are absolutely brilliant so friendly and welcoming, nothing was a problem. Stopped two nights and had meal deals both nights and the food was amazing and we'll worth the money, I had pick your own toppings pizza one night and it was the size of a dart board, with fresh ingredients . Premier inn seems to have attracted so nice places on bridge street where it is including a micro brewery which has great drinks. Fifty yards away is the beautiful river tweed with great views and a friendly seal .Berwick is full of very friendly people and well worth a few nights stay. We will definitely be returning to the premier inn here and throughly recommend it
- janetfO6165GF (10/5): Great premier inn will return - Lovely premier inn stayed here a few times nice and clean
Staff always friendly. Breakfast is fine just the normal things .Never had evening meal so I cant comment .Will definitely return
- L1917DXjohnw (10/5): Great stay - First impression of the hotel was not great, however the check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect throughout my stay.
- nickysherer (10/5): Amazing staff - I have to mention the wonderful staff at the Burgess Hill Premier Inn. Zac, in particular, was outstanding – such a polite and genuinely kind young man who went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. Nothing was ever too much trouble. At breakfast, Jon was equally fantastic, offering the warmest welcome and service with a smile – truly the best we’ve ever experienced. A huge well done to the whole team – your customer service is absolutely spot on!
- stFrans (10/5): Visit Berwick upon Tweed and stay in Premier Inn, both worth the time and money - It was an awesome stay in Premier Inn and a very good idea to stop in Berwick upon Tweed before our Scotland trip. The hotel has a perfect location and quality service.
- K2524EJsimond (8/5): Last minute stay went very well - Clean comfortable quiet hotel with bonus of a restaurant serving good evening meals and breakfast and ample parking for our motorhome.
- Stopover78 (2/5): Customer service training is required - Customer service poor - staff not friendly or welcoming and do not know how to smile when customer arrives. Questioned why I needed an extra towel, when leaving and I said ‘thank you’ I was ignored while she carried on playing on her phoned. Service at evening meal was not good - waited 40 minutes, the meals were left a further 10 minutes on the pass - we had to go to staff to ask about this. They then brought the food which was dried up and congealed - we refused this an went elsewhere to eat.
- Vern_Eagles (10/5): Outstanding - Outstanding. Hard to believe it’s a Premier Inn. Staff gave a 5* welcome and the room was immaculate. It didn’t feel like a big chain hotel and we would highly recommend if staying in the area.
- 492Hilary492 (10/5): Quick stop over - Great check in experience.
Room really comfy.
Bathroom clean and lovey large towels were provided
Breakfast really tasty and cooked well.
Staff very helpful.
- helenkP8287PR (10/5): Meeting first grandchild. - Before we arrived the staff were aware that we were there to meet our first grandchild. In our room they had kindly left a card and gift for him.
This really was the nicest surprise that these very thoughtful people spent their hard earned money on a gift for strangers.
They really made our visit special by doing this and it was very much appreciated.
Extremely thoughtful, thank you so much.
- royandmaggie (8/5): Well located and quiet. Mostly usual good standard, but bathroom a bit grubby in places. - Great central location near the walls, and some nice pubs and restaurants. But quiet. Usual well laid out room, with excellent bed. Shower worked fine. There was air conditioning. Breakfast was normal standard, with particularly nice veggie sausages, cooked on request. Our bags were stored the next morning as our train was in the afternoon.
There was a phone for a taxi company in the lobby (unfortunately when we tried to use it, there was a wait of more than an hour for all taxi companies to the station, so we ended up pulling our heavy suitcases uphill to get there).
The bathroom wasn't cleaned to the usual standards for a Premier Inn. In particular the shower shelf was rather grubby, and the soap dispenser in the bathroom had a unpleasant black gunge just under the spray (which came off fairly easily).
The Air Con though OK most of the time didn't go below 19 degrees and that was rather hot for us at night, with quite a thick duvet.
- craigpT5001AV (10/5): Fantastic Friendly Hotel - Stayed here 2 - 5 September for the second time, didn't disappoint again, staff are friendly and helpful, nothing a problem for them, Susan the duty manager is a total asset to the company chatty, friendly and could get a laugh with her, any requests completed without an issue. Room was great, spotlessly clean, food was good, breakfast plentiful and fresh. Would recommend this hotel, possibly one the best Premier Inns around. 5 Stars. Will definitely be back.
- emmavQ6544VK (10/5): Great - Clean room, friendly and smiling welcome from Michelle on arrival. Definitely be back. Food was great. Plenty of choices
- emmagZ9823VM (8/5): Well looked after, thanks to Michelle! - Our stay was good, as usual. Michelle really looked after me and my two kids, made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thanks!
- C5942JWritaa (10/5): Great stay - A great hotel which is quiet and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Michelle was a great help. The rooms are clean and great for families
- Maps17461836935 (10/5): Brighton visit - We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Quick and easy check in very friendly staff member even though it was 10 PM . Booked a premier plus room. Large room with all the amenities. Spotless and very quiet. We didn’t have breakfast because we were too late. (Our choice)
Mention for Seb,Zac and Georgia the team who exceeded customer service.
- 483finc (10/5): Good vibes - Brilliant experience, great staff and the rear patio and gardens were a fab surprise, so calming and chilled, for a drink outside.
- Lee35ux (10/5): Friendly and Helpful Staff - The hotel is dated and could do with a refurb but the staff make up for that, hotel room spotless, all very friendly staff from check in until leaving and a lively pub attached to it which isnt the usual Premier inn pub, it was lively and friendly. I wouldn't usually leave a review for Premier Inn as I stay in them weekly but felt this hotel deserved a good review.
I would definitely stay again if working in the area.
Keep up the good work 👍
- llysfarm (10/5): Two night stay - good experience - Initial reception on arrival was faultless and the Italian Duty Manager was very friendly and helpful. Free parking on site and no Faf with registering your car etc (not like another big chain operator)
Overall a nice venue
- helenbH2220ZL (2/5): Worst ever experience - Never again people smoking in hotel setting fire alarms off scared for my family running out the room to smell smoke need to improve this I had zero sleep for the cost to come out my pocket
- JBW2ALRL (10/5): Short stay helped by excellent staff. - We only stayed for 2 nights but the experience was excellent. Most outstanding was the attitude of the various staff members, especially those on reception. (Note for management - they could do with more help, they were stressed in maintaining the ability to serve in the way that they did.) Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - all done with smiling faces and courteous ability.
As expected the room was clean, although there were some light bulbs that did not work. I forgot to mention this at checkout.
Breakfast food was excellent but the evening menu was a bit restricted from what one might expect.
- U4860BEmarcuss (10/5): Outstanding - We had a fantastic night staying at this hotel. The staff were absolutely brilliant especially, Michael, Alison and Caroline.
- Globetrottingboo (4/5): Tired, Overpriced, and No Proper Food – Avoid! - If you’re willing to pay premium prices to stay somewhere that has clearly spent the bare minimum on its facilities, decor, and overall upkeep, then this Premier Inn is the place for you.
The whole site is basic at best and that's being generous. It’s not just tired; its absolutely exhausted. From the drab and dated entrance to the neglected car park, everything screams cost-cutting.
The Beefeater restaurant that was once on site closed in July 2024 and has been replaced with what can only be described as a glorified snack counter. No proper kitchen in sight – just what appears to be a large freezer, a deep fat fryer, and a microwave. If you’re hoping for a decent meal, prepare to be sorely disappointed.
This Premier Inn falls well short of the standards the brand usually upholds. Definitely not worth the money. You’re better off staying somewhere else, anywhere else.
- oconnell1988 (4/5): Lack of staff means downhill service - What a difference a year makes… stayed here 12 months ago and recommended this place to friends. Wish I hadn’t of done as it’s gone extremely downhill with lack of staff, leaks in the corridor with bucket on the floor. 90 minute wait for food and even then was missing half the items which never did arrive by the time we left.
Don’t think I’ll stay at this venue again next year sadly which is a shame as very convenient location.
- 47PaulW (10/5): Excellent stay - The hotel does all the basics really well. Checking in, room, hot water, cleanliness, staff friendliness, breakfast, evening meal, parking, lounge.
The staff are great and friendly, the chefs cook an excellent breakfast and evening meal, everything is great.
- cherylmR8855AE (6/5): Spoiled by no air con - The stay was spoiled by the fact there was no air con in the room only a desk fan and it was an incredibly warm night but other than that the room and stay was good for what was needed. Location and parking were ideal and has a restaurant next door
- 696jermainet (10/5): Michelle the receptionist is AWESOME! - Booking was brilliant, receptionist michelle went above and beyond for both me and my partner who had travelled almost everywhere and could find nowhere for the night we rushed there and didn’t actually even book she helped us quickly and effectively, even going as far as to help my partner to food and drink on the house as she was feeling severely unwell the room was quiet out the way and clean from top to bottom props to the lovely lady michelle!
- anthonypA8067WA (10/5): Nice place great people good breakfast - Requested ground floor room and was accommodated. Room as always clean and comfortable. Reception staff helpful. Particular shout out for Alison who searched for a phone charger as I had forgotten mine. Thanks again. Down side Friday price £89 stayed Saturday for 1 night £145
- Sightsee02728720970 (10/5): Great Service - We would just like to express our sincere thanks to Alison on the reception desk for all her help and assistance in liaising with the adjoining restaurant due to an evacuation during our meal. Alison's customer service and professionalism is a credit to her and the brand.
- nigellQ6637CF (8/5): A very welcoming and comfortable Hotel with ample car parking ... I had a great night's stay! - Please don't be put off by the very tired appearance of the premises. I had a lovely welcome from the female member of staff that met me on arrival. Inside the property the rooms were as good if not better that those one might expect from any other Premiere Inn, clean tidy and fresh. The views I had, over looking the well manicured bushes and shrubs of the lovely surrounds were lovely and gave it an almost continental feel, I could have been in central France! On leaving the following morning, I was given a lovely send-off from member of staff Michelle as other house keeping staff were already busy preparing rooms for the next round of Guests. Thanks you Michelle and you colleague who checked me in in a 'nothing too much trouble' manner.
The management just needs to make some much needed investment on the exterior of this very comfortable hotel.
- O4114ZXsaraa (10/5): Excellent hotel - Excellent facilities. Very clean! Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Quiet in the hotel. Had comfortable bed which meant a good nights sleep. Everything you need was in the room such as extra pillows. Would highly recommend a stay!
- paulmT8348MZ (10/5): Premier inn - We stayed one night the hotel was what you would expect from a Premier pretty decent. However Michelle the member of staff on reception was fantastic so lovely couldn't do enough for us what a gem. She was very friendly nothing was to much trouble
- Cosmopolitan802836 (6/5): Beware Wednesdays - A helpful Receptionist but that was the highlight. It's main selling point is that it is nearer the Crematorium the the Central but it was £20 more expensive.
We made the mistake of getting the Meal Deal which is usually fine. You eat at the Stanhope Arms which adjoins it. Wednesday night is Quiz Night so the dining room is taken my the quizzers. Our table was in the bar next to a noisy pool table. The food took ages and all three dishes were very overcooked.
Breakfast was OK but some items had been cooked somewhat earlier.
If Premier Inn offer their meal deal at the Stanhope then they should ensure that the meal is up to their usual standard.
