Guest Reviews
- Phillip (2/5): - Room was damp and smelt horrible, particularly the bathroom. Was also very noisey from the floor above
- 230gareths (10/5): Superb staff - We were met by friendly reception staff which is always a pleasant start, the room was typical premier inn good standard, the bathroom looked a little tired but nothing to complain or even be bothered about, the meal deal was excellent value for dinner and breakfast, we were waited on by Gemma, who was excellent, happy, friendly and efficient a real shining example for premier inn. From premier inn, I know what I expect and this one exceeded due to the staff. Thank you
- 823iainw (10/5): Great Staff - Often stay due to working in the area. All of the staff have been so welcoming and helpful, in particular Gemma who provided great service in the restaurant.
- Wander638472 (10/5): Time away - The room was very comfy. We had a meal in the restaurant and our waitress Gemma was very friendly and.helpful ..........
- Q5003PUmichaels (10/5): Holiday - Totally enjoyed both the food and the accommodation from start to finish ( as usual )Gemma was the best very and smiling all night thank you so much gemma
- 30tonyn (10/5): Gemma a real gem - Gemma was amazing & so friendly.
Looking forward to seeing her again in Premier Inn.
She went above & beyond
Thank you Gemma
- 368annier (10/5): Very handy for airport - Friendly, helpful staff. Big thanks to Gemma for sorting us out with extra tea and milk for our room. Food was very tasty and fast service. Comfy room. Would recommend.
- ohdearohdear1 (10/5): After a nightmare journey home - the service we experienced here was exemplary! - We had booked this before going home after an arduous trip back from holiday, planning to have a lovely meal and great breakfast before going our separate ways to finish our holiday.
We had been awake for some 40 hours, with no food, having both been sick on the flights back, the car wouldn’t start when we collected from valet parking and we were both totally exhausted.
The manager (Robert) gave us some toast to our room, as we couldn’t face dinner, we had the best night’s sleep - 12 hours straight- and more toast in the morning - free of charge. Car wouldn’t start he tried to get us some jump leads but no-one had any, but we got the shuttle bus back to Valet parking. He waived the parking fee for us too. He made such a difference to our holiday - so although we have stayed in fancier hotels, we cannot praise him enough for helping us as he did. 5 stars go to Premier Inn and Robert for his kindness.
- Foodyyum12 (2/5): Not happy. - Room smelt musky, the bathroom smelt of urine..the toilet seat had urine marks on it and had to clean it myself. I got charged £14.59 for a plain burger! So they charged me for cheese, bacon and chips I never had .. when I mentioned it the waitress came back and said .. We can only take money off for the chips you never had that's all we can do... Really!!!.. what a load of crap. I got woken up by 3 loud guys outside smoking and all wrapped up in the white hotel quilts.. ! What hotel allows you to take your quilts outside?? I have put in my complaints and will update here the outcome. The check in lady was great ... But other staff seemed to spend their time chatting and I had to find them to ask for a hot chocolate during breakfast.. when they should have shown us were the drinks were .
- nervesofsteeljanet (10/5): This has to be Britain’s best Premier Inn - Outstandingly good, all the staff we met were exemplary. Particularly great was mention must be made of the cooking staff, the food was great and the attention to detail was brilliant
- Pinches123 (2/5): Shocking for a premier. - The worst premier inn we have stayed at and we stay often.
The room was ok, the staff were excellent as they always are in premier hotels.
The breakfast restaurant had people with tops off ie kids and an adult who were serving themselves. There was also the same family in pyjamas. This is a health hazard with potential sweat dripping onto food as well as body hair.
We paid for a breakfast with our stay and ended up eating nothing. We was glad as the food looked overcooked and everything we saw ie bread was stale.
Won't be returning.
We would like our money back for the breakfast we didn't receive.
- H5182CHmarkh (4/5): Not the cleanest - Quite short walk to gatwick north terminal. Self checkin.
Room looked ok until spotted residue of white liquid on curtain. So checked...
Shets and pillowcase had crud on them. Toilet and shower build up of gunk resulting from repeated poor cleaning. Too tired and no time to go reception.
Good night guarentee... have to report problem to reception
In morning no recetion staff around to report problem to and a plane to catch.
Shocker !!!
Ill give premier inn a miss next time!
- Z8345KQjamesm (10/5): A perfect stay - We found Julie in the restaurant very welcoming, attentive and friendly. The breakfast was perfect. The room was very clean and cosy and we always come back to this same hotel
- shaza150878 (10/5): Family weekend - Christopher and Charlotte are a credit to this hotel restaurant and we will definitely come back as a family as they make you feel welcome and can’t do enough for you. Even gave my sister and my mum a surprise for their birthday. Thank you guys
- stirlingshaz (10/5): Excellent staff - Christopher and charlette in the bar/restaurant are superb they cannot
Do enough for you nothing is too much trouble well done will deffo book again because of them
- W7486OLsamb (2/5): don't go here - we weren't staying here but went for a meal the girl who greeted us said because we weren't guests she shouldn't serve us but she would let us in this time, even though it is a large restaurant and there were only about half a dozed people eating there. We were then seated and our drink and food orders were taken some other people, I assume hotel guests then arrived and were seated and had their first course before our food arrived. When our drinks arrived there was no ice in them but the hotel guests all had ice in theirs.
- Catalinlin (10/5): Best Premier inn I've been - Very good experience
Staff was friendly and helpful, room as you can expect in a premier inn, food excellent ,good location for the airport and not expensive
- rachelbI7921HG (10/5): Great staff - We stayed at Premier Inn Metro Centre due to attending a nearby event last weekend.
Decent rooms & the staff were very friendly.
- flytrap55 (6/5): Met our basic needs - We stayed here for a night before our holiday from Gatwick. Check-in was ok, but only because a staff member was on hand to help with self service check-in.
The car parking was plentiful, but the charge is criminal. A charge of £25 for the night?! Its cheaper at Heathrow hotels and they offer more.
The extractor fan in our bathroom never stopped, even after the lights had been turned off, making the bathroom freezing.
We had dinner the night before, and I felt for our poor server, Bernando. He was literally left to cover the biggest area, with little to no help. He was rushing around trying to cover many orders and clear tables, I noticed 3 women behind the bar. One was doing drinks and other two were joking and talking. No evidence of teamwork or support for each other.
We didn't have breakfast, as we had to leave before you started serving.
- 76mark (8/5): Metrocentre Conveinence - Typical Premier Inn that was clean and tidy and appropriately priced. Breakfast and dinner would get 7/10 so all in all quite reasonable.
- Sandyfeet86 (8/5): Pretty good mid-range hotel - A pretty good choice for a mid range / value for money hotel.
Very convenient and close to Gatwick North Terminal (shuttle bus or it's less than a 10 minute walk), and only a short monorail trip from South Terminal
- davidhW4561PQ (4/5): Food was tasteless - Food was terrible the ""chef needs to learn how to cook a steak ,it was very bland no seasoning and no mustard was available. Could have got something more tastier at the shell garage next door
- 773sherij (4/5): Lack of front house restaurant staff. - No climate control in room which got uncomfortably hot. Not enough staff in the restaurant, one person front of house. Breakfast was not the usual set up and had to order what you wanted rather than help yourself.
- kerrymc17 (10/5): Great Staff - We stayed here the night before going on holiday. The hotel is a great location if travelling from the north terminal, literally a 5 minute walk. All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was great, so fresh and plenty of it. Would definitely recommend this hotel
- donnajR4675FM (10/5): Resturant - Found charlotte, very helpfull on my diet in the resturant, was very busy but always made time to make sure everything was what i needed
- wiroju (6/5): OK, did the job - Very convenient for an early flight to Orlando the next morning. The hotel felt slightly worn and had a strange musty odour to the room. Our server at dinner was very friendly, mostly made up for the quality of the food. Whilst we appreciate its a constantly busy hotel due to flights it was pretty loud, we could hear our neighbours above and to the side which kept us awake. Overall, would book again for an early flight with the knowledge this is far from the premier inn quality we are used to.
- P8932VWrickyt (10/5): Perfect service and perfect for North terminal - At the end of the day it is a Premier Inn so when it comes to the food, if you are expecting fine dining well that is poor judgement on your part.
The service though is amazing! The staff are so friendly, particularly if you have a young family!! Thank you so much to Karina for making my young girls Maya and Katie feel like A Listers in a very busy restaurant!!
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from North Terminal, the room is clean and tidy and the bed is comfortable.
Will 100% book again if ever flying from North terminal in the future
- B1719VZryand (10/5): Fantastic weekend - Stayed here for a weekend rooms were lovely . Julie and Charlotte were so friendly in restaurant and reception. Thank you
- reeceb844 (10/5): Restaurant staff - Review for mi Julie and Charlotte!
Fantastic service from both Julie and charlotte nothing was too much very attentive and a good laugh as well made our stay very enjoyable thanks guys
- natalievR5197VP (4/5): Family night away for hospital app - Well no under sofa beds an skirting boards or high dusting gets done in here absolutely filthy, room checker clearly not doing their job right
- 133kayleighf (6/5): Not the best premier we have stayed at! - We stayed here for one night due to an event at utilita arena.
We have stayed in many premier inn hotels mainly at airports but unfortunately this hasn't been our favourite one.
Rooms where very dated and needed a good lick of paint. The mattress.... Well we look forward to staying at premier hotels because their beds are just super comfy and we have a great night's sleep. For some reason this mattress was unlike any other we have slept on. It was rock hard! Very disappointed.
The breakfast was good with a great variety and we liked that the parking was free and not too far away from metro centre or Utilita Arena. But after driving 3 hours a good sleep was definitely needed.
- JourneyGirlOttawa (6/5): Adequate property; Super friendly staff - We stayed here for three nights to be close to family in the area. The property is dated and in need of repairs and updating. The staff were great, though. Donna, and especially Craig, went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
- René (8/5): - Das Hotel liegt zwar an einer großen Strasse , doch innen ist es ruhig.
Sehr nettes Personal.
Rieisige Zimmer .
- L468NOvictoriap (4/5): Filthy - Room was extremely hot. A fan was given but to filthy to use. I took photos of this because I was mortified.
Carpet had not been cleaned and was full of crumbs.
Skid mark stain in toilet on arrival.
The only positive was the staff
- Y5264TWgarym (10/5): Excellent - We travelled here as we where coming down for the weekend for an event with out young son.
Upon arrival there were plenty of places to park for free.
When coming into the reception just after 3 we were greeted with Donna W who welcomed us and quickly got us checked in and to our room. Asked us if we wanted a table in the restaurant for tonight. Very pleasant and friendly.
Beds were comfy and room was cool it helped having a fan in the room.
Bathroom was spacious and water was nice and warm, there was a good amount of pressure in the shower too.
Breakfast was nice normal options for a premier inn but all cooked well, the coffee was really nice out the machine.
Upon coming back from our event, Donna the friendly staff on the reception spoke with my son about how much he enjoyed his night.
Over all I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a weekend stay in Newcastle, enjoyed our time and will be back again.
- MJCity (8/5): Premier Inn Freiburg - Upside: Spotless, comfortable rooms, (iron / ironing board included 👍), friendly personal throughout, late night bar 👍. This was our second stay here & would return again.
Downside: Not enough parking spaces for guests & difficult to find nearby spaces.
- Karderby (8/5): Good Premier Inn - great location and spacious restaurant - Pros
- Great location close to the Metro centre and public transport links to Newcastle City
- Easy to find - just off the A1 bypass
- Plenty of parking
- Restaurant was spacious and food was good both at breakfast and evening dinner.
- Room typical Premier Inn - top floor best.
Cons
Not much but
- very weak showers on top floor
- Windows had double glazing to keep road noise down.
- limited TV channels
- another car park menaced by a management company - sure it is free and easy enough to sort but use of ANPR is always a retrograde step.
- quite isolated unless you get the car out - not much to walk to around the Hotel.
- F2608TMnickb (10/5): Another solid Premier Inn experience 💪 - Excellent service, clean room, very good breakfast. Very friendly staff. Good parking. Road noise actually fairly minimal.
- EllezBellzz (8/5): Good Value Hotel - Stayed here while visiting the local hospital, which was around a 15-minute drive away.
The room was clean and located at the back of the hotel, so we barely heard any road noise. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The only downside was some strange noise during the night—it sounded like someone running around on the roof. We were on the top floor, so not sure what it was, but it did go on for a while and made it a bit hard to sleep.
Restaurant on site was good value for money, really friend staff and good food.
Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay for what we needed.
- 850margaretf (6/5): Sad to Write This - Lets be clear. I like Premier Inn as a brand, particularly the hotels near Gatwick. So it saddens me to write this
First, I'll tell you what I liked.
The staff, mainly helpful and friendly.
The FREE PARKING
Reception area, clean and light with iced water dispensers, and glasses for thirsty travellers
The bathroom was GLEAMING
The supplied air conditioning FAN was a nice addition and kept the room cool
Now the bad:
When we pulled in, had I not known this place, I'd have turned round and gone elsewhere. I guess there was an event the previous night as the area in front of the hotel was a MESS, litter, rubbish, and other no-noes. The lobby before reception was messy. I think a new advert unit was being installed as there was plaster dust and detritus littering the area. This was all tidied up by the time we left our room the following day, and stayed tidy for our week's stay
However, it was a hot day, hubby was shattered after the drive, and he just wanted a shower to recover. Receptionist made sure that our room was ready in ten minutes.
It is an accessible room as I have mobility issues.
Nice low bed, easy for me to get into.
Bathroom has loads of grab rails. Unfortunately, the lower level bath was no good for me to use. The bath surface was SLIPPERY
Additionally, I should surely not expect to ask TWICE for the toilet paper receptacle to be replenished
There were no glasses or tumblers in the bathroom. The cups supplied for tea/ coffee are glass. Tea just doesn't taste good out of them. When the room was serviced, the tea and milk were not replenished.
Further, the 'easy' chair HAD SEEN BETTER days, the only way to make it comfortable was to use a pillow on the seat
The Wifi. Is a joke. The standard free wifi is pretty rubbish, but you can ?upgrade? to Ultimate Wifi, which is NOT SECURE, and DROPS OUT regularly. £5 for 24 hours, when you get maybe 3 hours of SLO MO service
We had food in the restaurant a couple of times. Service was good but the food only average
I guess it's just head office cuts responsible for most of this, but I may not be back
- 56tracyg (6/5): Average at best - neglected with some minor highlights - Stayed here for 3 nights long weekend exploring the North East of England.
Hotel is on outskirts (1.5 miles away) of the Metrocentre shopping complex - but there's no real public transport (not even a bus that drops nearby) between the Premier Inn and the shopping centre. So every day had to drive to the Metrocentre, park car and use the train to go into Newcastle. From there you can get tain and/or Metro to other areas nearby Tyneside. Plenty of secure parking onsite and near gas/petrol station just 50m away.
Hotel is neglected and tired/dated. Arrived to park car in the morning prior to returning later to check in (use the display inside reception to register your car otherwise an unpleasant and hefty fine will be issued).
Upon arrival at reception, the entrance was strewn with litter, dirt and apparently unvacuumed. Just - why? All it would take would be a quick tidy up to make this look presentable and to give a better first impression.
Room - good, spacious, clean. On first floor so i used the lift near reception to carry up bags. Be aware that the room above has extremely creaky floorboards. People walking in room above causing huge thudding and noisy activity (not their fault that the flooring is poor). Stopped at bedtime so not a major issue.
Wifi - didnt use Premier Inn one - brought my own router and unlimited data card - good signal for Three 4G network from my room
Food - breakfast Monday to Saturday is cooked to order and very hot, tasty and fresh. Enjoyed my breakfasts immensely. Sunday was buffet style so expect congealed beans and overbaked eggs. Staff pleasant and welcoming though, so i was quite happy with food. Did not eat there in evenings (bought snacks and salads from nearby Lidl/Aldi).
Whilst in Newcastle, I visited Whitley Bay, Tynemouth (both beautiful seaside towns), then Durham for the day (another beautiful university city) and wandered Newcastle with a few good beers thrown in during the daytime.
The Premier Inn MetroCentre hotel is set outside of any main area and you'll have to drive/uber to get to the Metrocentre (which does have huge choice of restaurants of all cuisines). Would book nearer to city centre next time.
- Journey19086752644 (4/5): No recommendation, wondering about the good reviews - The room was reasonably clean, but the air quality was very bad. Upon entering, there was already a strong, unpleasant smell, and it only got worse overnight—even with the air conditioning on the highest setting. It was difficult to open the window properly because the bed was in the way, and being on the ground floor right next to the train station didn’t feel safe. Not a comfortable stay.
- ShellyB722 (8/5): Premier Inn Freiburg: Consistent Comfort - As frequent Premier Inn guests in the UK, we found this Freiburg location delivered the brand's reliable standard of accommodation. The room offered nothing extraordinary but everything essential - a clean, well-maintained space with a comfortable mattress that ensured a good night's sleep. Typical of Premier Inn's consistent quality, it provided a straightforward, dependable stay without unnecessary frills.
- SnowyShasta (8/5): Good price for a comfortable experience - We stayed in this hotel for one night during a road trip through southern Germany. The room price was very competitive, and we felt very comfortable there during our stay. The beds especially gave us a great sleeping experience. The location is a 15-20 minute walk into the downtown area, but it felt safe even after dark. We would definitely return here if we're in Freiburg again.
- Anuj_Mithani (8/5): Comfortable overnight stay - As a loyal customer of Premier Inn in the UK, we decided to try their German properties on this trip and were not disppointed. This is a modern hotel recently built, and about 10-15 minutes walk from the old town. Prviate parking is available but we found a spot in the residential lanes across the main road.
We arrived early, and reception staff were gracious to give us a room without a fuss (Premier Inn has an annoying new policy of charging for early check in prior to 3pm, even if rooms are readily available, which some hotels are very rigid about). Rooms were spacious and cofortable. We were concerned about the proximity to the rail lines, but were not distrurbed by the noise and slept well. Competitively priced.
- Mogeltoft (2/5): Would you rather listen to roaring trains all night or drown in your own sweat? - Nothing at this hotel works…
The air conditioning is deliberately turned off, but since Premier Inn is a concrete hotel located right next to a very busy railway line, you now have a heavy choice to make: do you open the window to the roaring trains or drown in your own sweat?
We complained to reception, and their only suggestion was to open the window a little more!
In the shower, the water temperature constantly changes while you’re bathing. Either you’re freezing or getting first-degree burns.
During our second night, an unpleasant smell started coming from the drain into the room. Luckily, we could open the windows.
We’re leaving here now, utterly exhausted from lack of sleep and with our skin tingling from the unpredictable water temperature.
