Guest Reviews
- kerri_sweeting (6/5): Mixed bag! - Stayed here for one night with my husband at the end of November. The hotel itself is nice and the staff were friendly. We were allocated room 208. As soon as we got out of the lift we noticed a very stale smell. Our room, didn’t smell nice at all. Very stale and damp smelling. The room itself was clean but the smell was unpleasant. The windows do not open at all so the air is a stagnant air conditioning smell. I wanted to complain but my husband said we would hardly be in the room, so we didn’t. We had some lovely cocktails before dinner which were 2 for 1, very good value. Our evening meal was nice and tasty. Unfortunately breakfast, although replenished quickly was swimming in grease, in particular the eggs, mushrooms and bacon which was a shame. We wouldn’t stay here again but would try one of the other Premier Inns in Derby next time.
- N8374WRsandrag (10/5): First Class Service - We have just been checked in by the lovely Emma who was super friendly and really helpful - answering all our questions regarding our stay.
The room is clean, comfortable and well equipped.
- iannC7979WV (10/5): Great stay - Lovely receptionist ( mandira). Easy access from motorway easy shopping and food halls. Warm and friendly. Nice food in beefeater
- 797ip (2/5): Worst Premier Inn in Derby by Far - 27th November 2025, at your Derby Cathedral Quarter hotel.
From the outset, the experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, my wives and I had to wait almost five minutes to be seated, despite the restaurant being quiet and no staff visible when we entered from the street. Eventually, we were served by Suzanne, but the issues continued throughout our visit.
• After paying, we found only two tables in use, yet when attempting to start our breakfast, the coffee machine displayed a “call staff” alert. This caused further delays, and when I finally managed to resolve it, the coffee tasted weak, unpleasant, and nothing like the Costa standard I am accustomed to at Premier breakfasts.
• Basic items were missing: no small side plates, no malted bread, and no croissants. At this point, I felt more like I was working at Premier Inn than being served as a guest.
• The cooked breakfast itself was poor in quality and presentation. The beans were dry and crushed over the hash browns, which were hard as rock. The eggs had clearly been sitting for so long they would have been better boiled. I had wanted poached eggs, but again, no staff were available to assist.
Overall, the service was inadequate, the food substandard, and the entire experience fell far below the standards I expect from Premier Inn. Without doubt, this was the worst breakfast I have ever had at one of your hotels
- nathanbJ1044NI (10/5): Excellent staff - The girls on reception were very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
- wgardner101 (4/5): Disrupted Night Sleep - I stayed for 2 x nights early in November to see friends in the local area.
I’ve stayed here a few times and the experience is usually good and typical for a Premier Inn. It is located within walking distance of the city centre and has a relationship with a multi-storey car park about 10 minutes away. There is a car park right next to the hotel that is not affiliated and I have not parked there.
The first night (Friday) was uneventful and I ate in the restaurant on site which was nice.
The second night was heavily disrupted due to a guest repeatedly setting off the fire alarm at around 01:30 on the Sunday early hours. This caused a full evacuation in the freezing cold only to observe the guest in question complaining about the fire assembly point and being violent with staff whilst the guests watched on. This went on for about 20 minutes until the police arrived, while we all had to wait outside in the cold.
I was sure that Premier Inn would see this as a disruptive night sleep and the staff agreed when I raised the issue at the time but asked me to visit reception in the morning as they were giving statements to the police. I finally got to sleep at 3am and upon checkout was given a card to request my refund. (Un)surprisingly Premier Inn refused to honour this when I asked so I was left with a disrupted night sleep and a sour taste of the whole experience.
- contactb500 (10/5): Great customer service - Great service at Premier Inn Doncaster Lakeside today - fast, efficient and friendly. Particular thanks to Natala who was particularly helpful.
- andrewg819 (10/5): Great customer service. Management need to spend some money on fittings - Stayed before and after a trip to France. Thanks to Melissa who got us checked in politely and professionally when we arrived late and were very tired from our journey. Staff here are always high standard (unlike Oban P.Inn) and housekeeping do a great job of keeping this well used hotel (starting to show it's age now) clean. Hopefully Melissa gets involved in new staff training to bring them up to her own high standard of customer service.
- Excursion57544351469 (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean comfortable room with plenty of parking, excellent breakfast next door in the Beefeater. Only useless thing was the WiFi which didn't work at all.
- 243lissk (10/5): One of the best premier inn we have stayed in. - 2nd time at this premier inn. It’s a perfect half way point to meet with family just off the A1 and it’s such a lovely one right by the lake. We find it peaceful. It’s also got plenty of places to eat within walking distance and an outlet shopping place next door. Vue cinema and the dome splash park nearby. Yorkshire wildlife park is only 15 minutes drive too. Great location with kids.
Mandiva on reception is so lovely, she even gave my 5 year old some stickers when checking in and managed to check us in early with travelling far.
They’re also renovating the building to add more rooms that will be premier plus rooms.
Thank you for another fab stay !
- 601harrisr (6/5): Don't use vending machine - Decent hotel but issues with vending machine which is common apparently but yet no sign on it saying "do not use".
No refund or help just was told to contact them directly
- AAJS_UK (8/5): Good value - I'm a fan of Premier Inn's as I feel they offer good value, and this particular location reconfirms this. I was welcomed by friendly staff for an overnight stay. Breakfast is served in the pub next door, but I didn't use. The hotel entrance is a little outdated but it was clean. The room was a good size and was clean. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was brilliant. Great way to start the day! The downside was the outside noise. Walls seem to be thin so you can get disturbed sometimes. Overall, I would book this Hotel again.
- laurajM308BL (10/5): Comfortable business trip - I really like this hotel, it is quiet and there is lots of parking. I stay here regularly, the staff are friendly and the restaurant is good.
- jamesdQ939WY (10/5): Great place - Excellent very good i am happy with the support recieved excellent place great service i would stay again. Wonderful experience.
- V113PPjamesm (10/5): Good budget accommodation with a well run and inexpensive restaurant on site - Two nights away to visit RAF Hendon museum then Dover Castle, while at Hendon got a text saying our rooms at Premier inn (east Dover) were cancelled however shortly afterwards had a call to say we were rebooked into this hotel. The first morning we were given complimentary breakfasts and the second night a voucher for 25% off of our dinner.
- keonp161 (10/5): Our stay at premier inn Dover (A20) - Our stay at the Dover A20 was ideal for our visit to Dover castle. The room was all clean and comfortable. Parking on site and with the Beefeater restaurant next door for breakfast and evening meals was convenient . We was greeted at reception by Melissa who booked us in and was very helpful and pleasant she gave us information on our stay. We would use this Premier inn again if we visited Dover again.
- 246charlie_P (10/5): Lovely place to stay - What a lovely room! Stayed here several times but this was the first time in the annex lovely cosy spacious room, really nicely decorated and appointed, can't fault it. What really made the stay was the welcome from the receptionist Julie, she greeted us with a warm smile and a warm welcome. I just wish all hotel receptionists were as friendly as she is . . .
- S2960RHmichaeld (10/5): Great value hotel - Had a two night stay here lovely and clean all the staff where friendly and helpful the two on the night shift Adam and Elaine where absolutely fantastic dealing with an issue with professionalism and patience that really shouldn’t be part off there job . The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy and in a great location with easy access to motorways and the port of Dover thank you premier inn team
- PhilSefton1968 (10/5): A lovely experience - Another stay at the hotel, its a good location for me as a friend lives nearby. It was clean and tidy. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. At the end of the day its a Premier Inn and it more than met the standards you expect. Will be returning again next year
- michaeljA8257GS (10/5): Hotel near Dover. - Good location for the car ferry. Very clean room and at a reasonable price. Reasturant within walking distance. Would recommend.
- Elizabeth195 (10/5): Great value for money - Love staying here . The rooms have always been perfect , the staff friendly and professional , and breakfast and the evening meal were great . Nice bars and restaurants nearby if you want to venture out and plenty of shops and a good shopping centre . Casino also nearby
Looking forward to returning
- tiptonite54 (8/5): Rooms a little tired but great location - Great location for all City centre has to offer but obviously pay premium for that
Parking was awkward there is an unloading bay outside but secure parking is about 10 minute walk away but the hotel offers a discount there is parking adjoining the hotel but is private company and not secure
But as usual a comfortable stay
- sl0ttyt (6/5): Won’t be returning - I was obviously dubious about going anywhere that lennyHenry promotes, though the room was actually ok, the wifi was pretty poor but I won’t be using Premier inns again as, until I arrived I didn’t realise, the check in time is 3pm, far too inconvenient
- Philippe (6/5): - Wi-Fi médiocre
- V2053OXcraigs (2/5): Been to this location numerous times but let down on this occasion. - Good location but parking was very limited due to having building work done. restaurant service was very slow and food cold.
- mustee75 (4/5): Could have been better - The rooms are spacious and tidy, good beds, but the toilet was filthy, there was no Internet service in the room that I was given and the Receptionist couldn'tdo anything about it. Receptionist could have been a bit friendlier and helpful. The car park was great, enough space to park and a secure barrier which needs a code to access. The food was ok but could have been better if it's prepared and readily available to be eaten when arrived without having to make an order through someone. Though it is eat as much as you can, placing order takes so long for the food to be prepared and seservedThus defeats the whole of eat as much as you can. The gentleman the was nicer. Overall, I was expecting better service that I had.
- 719jeanettew (10/5): A good hotel - It is a very good hotel, priced right, clean, warm and central to Derby with friendly staff. We have been staying there since it opened and will continue in the future.
- markieq2016 (10/5): Good overnight location for early sail. - Booked a night here before an early sail on a Saturday. Easy to find, lots of parking. Check in was very efficient and Melissa was very helpful. Room was comfortable and perfect for purpose.
- 378sherc (10/5): Premier Inn Dover - Arrive rather late in the evening. Booking in was a breeze. They were very helpful. Room was clean warm and very nice.
All in all, A good experience
- michaelfC8492JR (10/5): She helped us change rooms - Checked in on the 18th Natalie on reception was fantastic.Nothing was too much trouble she helped us 100%. I gave her a 10 out of 10.
- S2445OHrayb (10/5): Very good and nice experience I had here - Check in was great with good customer service from Natalia , the room was clean and the food was great
Stay throughout the stay were helpful.
- annetN2135AG (10/5): Lovely receptionist Natalia - Lovely receptionist Natalia sorted our room for us.
Evening meal was booked also but unfortunately didn't use it.
Room great.
- 972beckip (10/5): Pleasant and very helpful. - Excellent service, really friendly and welcoming staff more than happy to help. No issues with parking, got a spot straight away and was prompted to enter reg as soon as I got in to register for free parking.
- J5844BUashleyb (10/5): Excellent customer service - Arrived early due to needing to relocate due to a meeting for work, Mandira assisted me with checking in slightly earlier to allow for this which was lovely gesture! Very welcoming reception and perfect location not too far from local station. Thank you very much Mandira!
- Q940NYlukes (10/5): Highly recommend - Had an excellent stay at the premiere inn and would definitely recommend to others and plan to return for any future trips to Derby. Staff were excellent, friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
- Cruiser46005 (10/5): Excellent - Lovely clean rooms staff .. medina was manager she’s was very helpful and kind ..I went with my family to celebrate my 80th birthday to see the elvis tribute show at the dome…very pleased with everything..
- 757nuhuy (10/5): Wounderful stay - Mandira I really help a lot o really appreciate what she did for me. And location is very easy to locate and there a shopping center near by and the have a wounderful people
- anitakE2477OT (10/5): Work colleagues night out - Big thank you to Steph , Kayleigh and the handsome guy- sorry don’t remember the name- for hosting us last night. Food was really good and well presented. Lovely atmosphere and very clean restaurant.
Really recommend.
- stevenkD1593FL (10/5): Another great Premier Inn - Stopped in this hotel for one night for a business training course. Excellent hotel, easy check in process with approachable staff (Lad with braids) didn't get your name sorry. Nice clean room. Walking distance for shops. Phatbuns is a great takeaway if you fancy a burger! Breakfast was great and very tasty. Would certainly book again if in the area.
- Wightbaby (10/5): Usual good standard plus new delicious menu - Usual standard of cleanliness and nice quiet comfortable room.
This was just a one night stopover before we joined a group holiday in the area.
The new menu (Thyme) was a bonus and most definitely an improvement on the usual fodder on offer in the past
- 691magp (10/5): Late summer break - A great hotel in a good position, quiet but easily found and not too far from Dover.
We had an easy check-in and the room was very clean and well presented when we opened the door.
Melissa, the receptionist, made us feel welcome and helped with a small problem which arose. Throughout our stay when she was on shift, Melissa was always pleasant and made us feel welcome. She is an real asset to your company.
- JohannesdeJong (10/5): Perfect place to stay overnight before crossing to France - Only 20 minutes to the ferrys. Perfect beds, delicious food, free parking and very friendly staff. An employee prepares your breakfast fresh to order!
- M5389YQcarolinep (8/5): Comfortable night away. - Was very comfortable, really nice shower, lovely welcome from staff. Smell of wet dog in reception was off putting but no sign of it in room. Great parking.
Excellent breakfast and service. I don't find the evening meals are the best but plenty to choose from and edible. Ordered two different cocktails both of which they didn't have the ingredients for. I was offered my third choice for free, so was kindly rectified.
- 5-star-review-only (4/5): Not the greatest - Near to the Dover channel. Breakfast tabels are not cleaned properly, sticky tops prob from last night boozz. Breakfast is not buffet. Rooms are ok.
- 347capt (6/5): An Old Premier Inn witha willing overworked staff - An old Premier Inn very much in need of refurbishment with almost uncontrollable heating/air con . A rather tatty adjacent Beefeater in even more need of refurbishment which seemed understaffed Staff were helpful but clearly overworked
- Tour506406 (10/5): 90th Birthday break - Perfect location with Lakeside Village shopping centre directly behind the hotel.
Room was a good size and clean and comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Had a lovely surprise of a bottle of Prosecco in the room for my Mum's 90th Birthday. Very thoughtful gesture from the hotel.
We only ate at the Beefeater restaurant once. The menu choices were quite limited unless you like spicy food. Prices were on the expensive side too. Having said that, the food we did have was served piping hot and was very tasty. Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful too.
Overall, we enjoyed our 3 night stay and would return in the summer so we could go to the lake and the wildlife park.
- I8418PSchrisw (10/5): Polite and courteous - The friendly staff member who was on duty to check me and my business associates in was extremely cheerful. It was around 7PM in the evening and quite late but still found time to have a human conversation which brought some normality into a crazy world. Credit to them. Hotel as standard and was clean to a degree
- Y8934EUcb (2/5): Very poor, avoid if trying to break your journey across to France - The room was very poor. Small, dirty and hot. All the rooms had a single large shower head, and so were unusable for any women with long hair.
Despite being advertised as in the countryside, there was significant road noise.
Far from a relaxing break in a journey, it adds a lot of stress.
- Jordank19933006 (10/5): Great night's sleep - Great comfy beds. Good bath/ shower facilities. Easy check in. Tea and coffee in the room, extras in the reception area if you require more.
- iantO8875LA (10/5): 5 Star experience - A very welcoming experience at Lakeside Doncaster reception after a difficult drive from the south.
Mandira greeted me professionally, and was friendly and helpful throughout the checking in process.
The room was very clean, especially the bathroom.
A 5 star rating throughout.
- spT9421NZ (10/5): excellent service!! - The room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and great service. Overall it was great and would definitely come back;)
- G5581IQmichaelr (10/5): Excellent service - Excellent service receptionist mandira went above and beyond to help out. Excellent location with great food in the area
- T7028RTclaudiam (10/5): Helpful team member - We had an excellent reception from the staff, especially from a very attentive and helpful team member. The location is also excellent.
- rich67 (10/5): Premier Inn, Cathedral Quarter, Perfect - Hotel is perfect for visiting Derby..Very central to everything... Beautiful Cathedral across the road,,and many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance
- 107saadiaa (10/5): Excellent customer service by the receptionist & breakfast team. - We stayed one night at Cathedral. The facilities were very basic of course being a budget hotel. The breakfast was basic however the noteworthy thing was these 2 lovely women(staff) attending us for breakfast. It was Friday morning, summer holidays , pretty packed up morning, slow food coming out of kitchen. Aggie & Lorraine tirelessly attended everyone with patience & politeness even in this pressured time. My son was ill they ensure I get a take-away breakfast for him. Breakfast time they were understaff so definitely need to pump up staff members at the most popular time of the day i.e breakfast.
- 108JasonR (8/5): Good hotel and location for the price - Good example of a Premier Inn, one of the better ones I’ve stayed in. Great location if you’re going to Vaillant Live for a show.
2 car parks within 2-3 minutes walking distance.
Rooms clean and comfortable, staff friendly and a very good breakfast choice.
- N6915YNtanyam (10/5): Very friendly..... - Excellent customer service.... Leighton was very friendly with a lovely smile..... very helpful indeed.
Thank you 😊
- C2538MEandrewm (10/5): Lovely hotel and fab Staff - Lovely hotel well situated in the town centre. It is approx 10 to 15 minutes walk from the railway station.
The staff on arrival were extremely courteous and helpful. In the evening the staff wee down on numbers, and were kept exceptionally busy, but all the while courteous.
The food in the evening was fantastic.
The bedroom was very clean and the beds comfy slept really well.
- TheOriginalMcFishie (10/5): Perfect place for the night - I love premier inn, you know what you're getting and it delivers. Comfortable, quiet room, friendly staff. If you're in Derby the Cathedral City property is lovely (its also air conditioned!)
- finnbeaud (10/5): Staff are very hospitable :) - Lorraine was lovely and doesn’t keep you waiting long, attitude is on point, and was great to be welcomed in to, asset to the team for sure, thank you lorraine!
- chrisrL6523TT (8/5): Everything fine, needs thought on the bed though!! - Would have been a 5, but, we felt that whilst the wetroom was very good, considering it was an accessability room the bed just appeared to be just the normal bed and low. People with reduced mobility also tend to have trouble getting off and on the bed and tend to need a higher bed. Otherwise our stay here was excellent
