Guest Reviews
- R8340FVjamesd (10/5): 5 star - Extremely helpful on reception, Bridget is a credit to your company, very polite and welcoming nothing too difficult.
- AndyBSteamFanatic (10/5): The best of the best - I stay at several Premier Inn hotels around the country for work and am always treated like a valued customer. The staff at Newcastle under Lyme though are the best of all of them. I stayed there this week and had to add an extra night. The website is not a lot of help but Bridget sorted the invoice receipts, even offering to bring them to me while I had breakfast. That is over and above what is usual. The staff at the Brewers Fayre next door are also just as friendly and helpful and the best of all of the adjoined pubs too.
- 654leanned (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic stay, lovely rooms. A big shout out to Amanda for making my stay so enjoyable. Thank you, will definitely be back again
- 786carolb (8/5): ONE NIGHT AT PREMIER INN AT NEWCASTLE UNDER LYME - Saturday 4th October 2025 after visiting Victoria Mill Antiques Centre. we drove to Chesterton in Newcastle Under Lyme to go to a Premier Inn where we are staying overnight.
The Premier Inn was set on an industrial estate with ‘The Redwood’ a Brewers Fayre restaurant attached to it. We parked our car and entered within and we given a very nice welcome by the receptionist.
We were given a very nice large comfortable bedroom (Room No: 5), with a very comfortable bed and pristine clean bathroom, with only one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, and lots of hot water. My husband and I unpacked our things and had a cup of coffee and tea and relaxed before my husband showered and then we went for our included evening meal.
Afterwards, we returned back to our lovely quite room, where we both had a tea and coffee and then we snuggled up in our really comfortable bed and had a good night’s sleep.
- C4762IFchristopherr (10/5): Lovely rooms, lovely visit! - Amazing refurbished rooms, clean and helpful friendly staff, we had a lovely stay. We stay almost every year and always return. Staff always friendly! Water pressure in bathrooms needs looking at though.
- Y398EXmarcush (10/5): Excellent as always - I had yet another great stay at this hotel staff are brilliant I did have one issue my bathroom fan wasn’t working I popped to reception and within 10 minutes a lovely lad called matthew knocked on my door came in fixed the issue ( it wasn’t turned on ) asked if everything else was ok within the room itself which it was a very professional and politely young gentleman
- paulrF7934FY (10/5): 10/10 Highly recommended - All the staff were wonderful and extremely helpful.
A staff member called Emma very kindly left treats and Galaxy hot chocolate sachets in our room when she heard me say that my son Jack was feeling poorly.
- hantsnomad (10/5): Great service from Reception Staff - Another Premier Inn that is the perfect combination of good value for money, clean and with a proper family room with separate beds for the kids (not a sofa bed that 2 kids are supposed to share!!) .
I wanted to give a special mention to Angi on reception. When we arrived we were assigned a room which had had an assistance dog stay in it previously. We asked Angi if it was possible to move since our youngest is severely allergic to dogs and in spite of the fact the hotel was fully booked Angi managed to shuffle bookings around and make up a bed in an alternative room for our stay. Plenty of staff simply would not have bothered. It is this type of service which keeps us coming back to Premier Inn. Thank you.
- AngusK2915 (8/5): Love the upgrades, poor water pressure - Loved the newly refurbished rooms, and the Prem Plus is (in my opinion) well worth the modest uplift in cost. The only problem is that since the renovations the water pressure has really dropped off, and taking a shower is a miserable experience. Hopefully this will improve soon!
- P5943NQjoang (10/5): Overnight stay for a funeral - Delightful overnight stay, helpful staff ,hotel clean and room very good.breakfast had a good variety to choose from and the full English breakfast was tasty
Only downside is the tiny slip road off the main road,we missed it first time and had to go on up to roundabout back down then up again,
- jacobsI2805MW (10/5): Great stay - I stayed here for a long stint, must say it was an incredibly spacious room lots of plugs dotted around making charging easier. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff at reception too.
- I8772UEwaynet (10/5): Lovely meal, great value. - Excellent great value meal. Super service from Tom. Will definetly come back. Some great meals for just a fiver! Like going back in time!
- drowlands1 (10/5): Perfect for our needs - We stopped here for a stay over on the way up to Scotland. The hotel is easy to find. Plenty of parking. There’s a pub next door which we didn’t try, serves food including breakfast.
Staff were friendly. I’m not sure if this branch has been refurbished or if it’s new, it comes across very fresh for a premier inn.
Comfy bed as always, very quiet environment. Met our basic needs perfectly.
- U5353CBkevins (10/5): Premier Inn Fred Archer Way best Premier Inn ever - The staff at Premier inn and Table Top Restaurant were absolutely amazing
The premier plus rooms were excellent and well worth the extra money, the food was one of the best meals we have ever had in Premier I|nn.
Would recommend to anyone to go there and stay
- P9804LEkarenw (10/5): Great staff - Friendly and helpful staff. Especially Sue. Clean and up to date rooms make you feel treated well whilst away from home. Thank you
- A4938XXpaulh (10/5): Super helpful friendly Staff - I work away from home and spend a great deal of time staying in the Premier Inn in Newcastle Under Lyme. The staff are extremely courteous and will go that extra mile to make you feel appreciated as a guest. They make the stay a more palatable experience
- Trina (6/5): - Found a room on the Hotels.com app but stopped by the hotel to check it out before booking. The front desk initially said no rooms were available, despite the app showing otherwise. After some persistence and a 10–15 minute discussion involving another staff member, I was shown a room I liked. Due to system issues, I was told to book through the app. I did so, paid, and received confirmation, which the clerk also saw—but they still couldn’t assign the room due to aforementioned system issue. I agreed to return later while they sorted it out. When my husband and I came back, they claimed we hadn’t paid, despite us showing proof of payment (both on hotels app and our credit card transactions). We left again to give them more time. After four hours, we returned and were told there had been a Hotels.com payment issue that took 3.5 hours and a manager’s help to resolve. Informed daily room cleaning stopped during covid. We booked a week, so asked how towels were replaced & advised I'd have to ask at desk. As it turned out, they had an 'on demand' room service option which I later used to empty baskets and replace towels. No air conditioning in this hotel that is operable from the room itself. The TV's have volume controls (25 specifically). We couldn't hear some channels from the bed & requested our controls be moved to 27. Informed that there were no TV controls. Next day asked another clerk who shared that there were controls that couldn't be changed.
- 567phoebew (10/5): Great stay - A special thankyou to Sue for such a warm welcome. Lovely refurbished room which was clean and cosy. We will be back again soon.
- We881e (10/5): Great hotel - Sue is a star ! - Great location for a quiet stop over, which we do quite regularly visiting family. Very recently refurbished. Reasonably priced and a fantastic reception staff. Particular call out to Sue who offers fantastic service time after time, with a smile and courtesy.
Staff at the Gretna Green restaurant on site are very friendly and helpful too.
- K1841ZXgeorgiar (10/5): Amazing. Perfect. As always. - I stay here often and I get the same amazing service every time. This time Angela went above and beyond, and the rest of the team for having my room ready so beautiful and clean when I checked in early. They were also short staffed on this day and Angela did her best to make my stay perfect. Thank you so much.
- Lesley-Phil (10/5): Lovely refurbished hotel. With lovely staff - The hotel was newly refurbished and we could smell the new carpets as we entered . Sue the receptionist was warm , and welcoming but surprised when my American friend asked for an ice bucket and escalator which they did not have . The room was newly decorated to a high standard and the new bathroom had all mod cons . The shower was a little slow but hot . The sheets and towels were spotless and clean . We had all we needed and an extra biscuits from lovely Sue .
The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Excellent value for money . We shall return
Thank you Lesley and Julie
- annbU3950RE (8/5): Above and beyond expectations - Exactly what you’d hope to find at a Premier Inn… clean rooms, plenty of parking and a nice welcome. This Premier Inn went above and beyond this! A newly refurbished building with a great welcome and a small treat in our room upon arrival. Staff were always keen to help and remembered small details that made our one night stay super relaxed. Sam, Angela and the team run this place brilliantly. We will be frequent visitors to the north and will be back! Thanks
- E5141BOanthonyd (10/5): Thanks You Premier Inn - For the last couple of year have been. staying at Premier Inn Newmarket. This is place is home away from home the Rooms are excellent and the staff even better. This is a shout out to Sandra the receptionist who is such a lovely person with a great sense of humor. Cheers to everyone involved!!!
- kathrynmJ77CE (10/5): Brilliant experience - Lovely hotel, the rooms were comfortable, modern and clean and provided the perfect stopover. Breakfast was good value for money. Sue at check in was absolutely brilliant, friendly, kind and efficient which we were so grateful for, particularly arriving in the pouring rain after a long journey with a 2 year old! Thanks so much.
- sami515 (8/5): Decent Premier inn - First time at this Premier inn and it was a pretty good stay.
The room looked refurbished, was spacious, clean and the bed comfortable.
I'm not sure who is redesigning these rooms but they are poor compared to the old Premier inn rooms. There is zero storage, no wardrobe no drawers just a unit that serves no real purpose. The bed side tables are so narrow they are totally pointless. There is also so much wasted space it's rediculous. The bathroom is nice and refurbed but why keep a bath with the shower over it.
No safe, fridge or water in a premier plus room at almost £100 a night is not value for money.
We also had a meal in the pub and it was poor.
If you're staying a night or two it's fine but you couldn't stay longer unless you want to live out of a suitcase.
- sandraw873 (10/5): Staying as a guest - When I come to Newcastle-under-Lyme I always stay at this premier inn, the staff are fantastic . Nothing is to much trouble, Alex, Tom, Brigett and the rest of the staff are so friendly, The room is spotless,
- vincentlS805BO (10/5): Great - The room was spacious and very clean. Sue was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the stay even better. The only area for improvement would be the water pressure, but overall it was a great experience.
- nelmes65 (10/5): Twin rooms - I booked 2 twin rooms but also needed ground floor for moblity. Tom phoned me the night before to confirm and ensure we were accommodated properly. He was on shift to greet ys when we arrived and couldn't be more helpful. Thanks for looking out for us Tom
- joannagB9529ME (10/5): Best one i have come across - By far best premier inn i have stayed in over last 8 years for work, newly refurbished, very fresh new look, comfy bed and super soft towels, room its self is the cleanest i have come across im not one to moan about a bit of dust here and there but can say happily they is none in this room. All chrome parts in bathroom are shiney and clean no rust or leaks mirros all clean cant complain( these are common things i have come across in other premier inns) Receptionist sue thank you for your time today very polite and professional goes out of her way to help others was noticed not just with myself but others too, i dont normally talk to people during my stays but found myself having a wonderful conversation with sue, receptionist i have come across in past havent been so polite so i do thank you for making my work stay pleasant, relaxing and taking time to talk with me
- samuelt871 (2/5): Never again - Like so many other guests the hotel is good but service for dinner and breakfast is terrible.
Forget the meal deal as they will not supply the desert and the breakfast which is not warm is on very cold plate. Never again will I stay with Premier Inn
- 154gilliank (10/5): Dave gave exceptional customer service - We are family of 5 stayed last weekend for 3 nights for Great North Run 2025, hotel very clean and staff were very friendly. Nothing too much trouble, Dave helped us to fix my son’s toy making him a very happy boy. He was very friendly and I greatly appreciated his help. Excellent customer service by all staff would definitely recommend!
- Jet64417347148 (10/5): Good and convenient hotel - Have stayed here several times. Upgraded to a Premier Plus room - these are on the top floor so you avoid noisy neighbours above you (which has been a minor issue in this hotel in the past). You also get some mini upgrades over a “standard” room - a Nespresso coffee maker, fridge with water, chocolates etc. the interesting thing is some upgrades I would expect in standard rooms - premier rooms have USB charging points, but standard rooms do not. Also - premier rooms have a really good shower, but no bath!
Breakfast on the ground floor is very good and well organised. In a town that has several ‘posh end’ hotels - this is convenient and reasonably priced (on a non- race day).
Only minor issue - I stayed for 2 nights and had thought my room would be ‘made up’ after the first night…….but you do have to expressly ask for this at reception - the door hanger does not actually make housekeeping do this.
- yvonnehO7628QE (10/5): Great overnight to split our journey up north to Scotland. - Ideal stopover for one night to break the journey.
Lovely clean hotel
Pub on same site.
Premier plus room fabulous and comfy bed as always and come chairs.
- zchari5 (10/5): Great value with helpful staff. Reasonably close to Alton Towers - Great value and comfortable mattress as always with premier inn. Reception was helpful. Breakfast was provided by a connected Brewers Fayre and the same as always and good value with children.
Easy drive to Alton towers (about 40 mins on a Sunday morning with no traffic but windy country roads)
For some reason WiFi was the worst we've had in any premier inn but mobile data reception was good. We came on a particularly warm evening and there was no air con but there was a desk fan. Make sure to type in your license plate correctly at reception as it's anpr controlled parking. Nothing walkable to nearby if you're hoping to go out for a stroll and a drink/ bite to eat. A few fast food places within 5 mins drive and Deliveroo/ Uber can deliver plus the Brewers Fayre next door if you fancy it.
Overall I'd strongly recommend for a comfortable, clean, quiet and cheap stay for Alton towers.
- GrandTour56171208710 (10/5): Lovely hotel. - Lovely hotel and very friendly staff. Very warm welcome. Even helped us out when we forgot a phone charger by lending us one. Thank you.
- Cruiser50307651791 (10/5): Thanks Angela and team. - A lovely welcome from Angela and her friendly team, clean, spacious and well equipped room. Appreciated the 12 noon checkout. Would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting the area.
- edmundd529 (8/5): Pleasant for a quick overnight stay - Arrived at 1am, night staff friendly and efficient. Free parking was plentiful. I stayed on the first floor and the room was in very good condition and clean. Overlooking fields so reasonably quiet away from the road. The only disappointment was the low water pressure in the shower, which was just about adequate to wash off the soap. I left early so didn’t try breakfast. I would stay here again.
- clarebB5863ZV (10/5): Really pleasant stay - Lovely clean and recently renovated rooms. Staff were welcoming and had fruit shoots on arrival and chocolate biscuits for the kids. Breakfast was nice the next morning. Great value for money. We’ll be staying there again when visiting family.
- 432izzyh (10/5): Night porter lady x - We stayed at Premier Inn Stoke on Friday 22nd after travelling 3 and a half hours from Wiltshire very late at night. Sadly, we were visiting because my nan was in hospital in her final days, and we needed somewhere close by in case I had to get to her quickly. The hotel was only about 7 minutes away, which was such a comfort.
When we arrived around 11pm, our online booking hadn’t shown up on their system, which was stressful given the circumstances. But the lady on the front desk was absolutely incredible – so kind, understanding, and helpful. She calmly explained everything, helped us sort out a new booking on the spot, and made sure we were okay. Her compassion and professionalism really stood out and made a very difficult time much easier to handle.
I can’t thank her enough for her kindness that night. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed, but the service we received made all the difference. I would definitely recommend this Premier Inn to anyone.
- G3527RUandrewg (10/5): Great - Great place to stay very clean and good friendly staff, breakfast at the pub was very good lots to choose from would recommend and would stay there again.
- jennyd2901 (4/5): Wouldn't stay fair again. - Very disappointed with my stay.
The check-in experience was extremely poor. The receptionist clearly needs more customer service training. Being rude and abrupt is unacceptable.
Plug in the sink wouldn't open. The rooms have generally been neglected.
I stay in many hotels including different Premier Inn, the worst I have stayed in.
- Smjae2015 (8/5): Friendly staff! - Friendly staff. Happy to help resolve an issue on arrival with the bedroom door & door lock not locking/ working as it should. The issue was swiftly sorted and a new room provided.
Slight issue with mould around the window in the room & bathroom. Perhaps some routine maintenance to replace the mastics. Car parking across the road. Was lucky enough to get one of the free bays allocated to the hotel. Otherwise lovely stay. Would definitely stop again if in the area.
- georgegR2158FH (4/5): If it's hot when you stay beware the rooms are hot and may not contain a fan. - We have stayed at this hotel a number of time, however this was the worst stay to date. Due to the high temperature in the room making it very uncomfortable to sleep . We requested a fan for the room as it does not have air con and the window is limited in its opening and very little afresh air is able to enter. The receptionist offered us a sheet or ice water, neither would be enough to cool the room as she informed us that all the fans were out.
- 705pennyw (2/5): Terrible and Overpriced - Terrible. Receptionist off hand. Pillow hard. Shower looked great but poor pressure so drippy. Bin hadn't been emptied from last occupant. Nothing to drink from. The only upside was the lovely overnight person. He was friendly and VERY helpful. Breakfast was appalling. Price was high, should have stayed in a decent hotel. Stayed a lot in Premier Inns over the years particularly Scarboro every month for a couple of yeard but may never stay in one again.
- traceymR720UO (4/5): Dirty Room - This has to be one of the worst premier Inn hotels I have stayed in. I never check out reviews as I have never had a problem with any of the hotels but this one was different. The cleanliness of the room was not very good, there was a patch on the ceiling of damp, a stain on the carpet where somebody had been sick or spilt something. When we went to get into bed the sheets were all creased and had fluff and hairs on which indicated they were not clean. We slept on top of the duvet. Sorry to say this was not to premier in standard.
- 702kamc (10/5): Good stay with Good staff - Good stay with good staff. Credit to Bridget at reception especially. Polite, well mannered and warming.
Little mixup on my side of booking. But all sorted by Bridget.
Also shout out to manager who sorted extra again the following morning.
Not my first stay and but def won’t be last as will be stopping again here when we are up here.
- SJH1952 (6/5): Good in places but not for dinner - This Premier Inn was up to expected standard in every way - well almost. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking very close but if the limited free parking is all taken it’s only £3.40 a day to park in the same car park.
Breakfast was as expected and good value, BUT, dinner for our party of 8 was a real disappointment. Friday evening and a very quiet TableTable restaurant but none of us could select from the menu what we wanted. The waiter was apologetic but was fortunate that none of us made a scene - too patient. I wanted a chicken curry- none left. Naan bread - none. Rice - none. Cooking oil for other meals — run out! I reluctantly had a vegetable curry (mainly squash) which I left with a few bits of chicken thrown in. Without rice it had to be chips. Instead of a naan I was offered a flat bread but, you guessed it, not available. With a Waitrose across the road it was clearly not policy for the chef to pop out a buy the missing ingredients. Company policy was obviously that it’s better to disappoint the guests than buy locally in an emergency.
- T4738FCnc (2/5): Too hot! - 29• in the room. Far too hot to function and fan had limited impact. Air con clearly switched off to save money. Would not recommend in hot weather.
- davidlA823DO (2/5): NOT a good night's sleep! - Lovely welcome, but unable to get a wink of sleep on the 2nd of our two nights and no staff on reception to complain to. We left feeling exhausted and had to stop twice on our journey to avoid falling asleep. Now I need to spend time trying to find out how to claim on their "Good Night Guarantee". As a regular Premier Inn customer I am extremely disappointed and will think twice about using them again or trying a competitor.
- jerrya955 (10/5): Fantastic service - What fantastic service we received from Jenny and her staff, 17 hairy, hungry bikers and she helped all get fed and watered with a smile on her and all the staffs faces. Thankyou so much for your patience. I would recommend the restaurant time and again 😁
- alexnF3164VR (10/5): All round good hotel worth the £ - The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
They helped me as I had an issue with the date I booked it for lucky enough they helped me with that and managed to change the date.
- karencB8783ZW (10/5): Exceeded expectations - Spacious, clean and air conditioned rooms, lovely friendly staff. Right next a a supermarket and multi-storey which was very handy (free parking in multi story for hotel guests). Tbh it was a refreshing surprise as our expectations were low after a previous stay at another premier inn, this one was amazing!
- E2557IBandreww (2/5): Better than sleeping in a field - Make sure arrive in good time if you want to drink or eat. The staff here work on the basis you have to have finished your food/drink by closing time (9 for food 10 for drinks). Most places would take orders until closing toi=ime and then allow time to drink up.
Staff more interest in arguing with each other than looking after guests other than at breakfast when the chap (sorry did not get his name) could not have been more helpful. He even filled my wife water bottle for her because we forgot to do it whilst having breakfast.
- PeterM3484 (8/5): Decent stay - The hotel is well positioned for all amenities. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Our only complaint the bed quilts were slightly small and kept waking up to readjust them. The staff were very pleasant, and the car park is close by. A good value for money hotel.
- Y3198BVchristinem (6/5): It was an ok stay - Firstly the bedroom wasn’t closed when we arrived. It turned out the lock was not functioning correctly. Couldn’t lock the door properly wasn’t shutting correctly we had to wedge the spare bed against it. Reported to reception no further rooms available till the following day.
No butter in the restaurant for breakfast!! Supplier issue. So many day nitts outside the hotel looks like months worth of collection!!
- V1569WQtima (10/5): Fantastic Experience - This was my very first experience at a Premier Inn, I have to say I am so impressed with the whole experience.
From being greated by the Amazing Louise on reception and getting a nice chilled cup of water and been very impressed with my room, bed and all facilities the cleaning standards were also extremely high.
Well done team Newmarket.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Tim
- aligD6272RD (10/5): Best Premier Inn in the UK - I stay in Premier Inns pretty much every week and nothing has ever compelled me to write a review.
This time I just had to come to say what a great stay I had. The rooms are everything you expect from a Premier Inn, but the staff were above and beyond. So friendly and helpful.
Can’t recommend it enough
- TJBPRC (10/5): Excellent. - Staff were excellent at check in, the room was clean, well equipped and the air conditioning was very good on an extremely warm night.
- peekaboo123uk (10/5): No issues - Great hotel and staff breakfast as always great clean friendly no issues nice tables plenty to choose from poached eggs just right coffee good
- LYG150 (10/5): Perfect - Wonderful greeting from receptionist, very professional and first class service. Room was easy to find and a lift if you required one. The rooms were clean and had everything you needed. We didn't eat at the hotel on this occasion. Parking was convenient, but as the parking is first come first served, you will struggle especially on race days. On the whole, great hotel and perfectly situated for a stay in Newmarket.
