Guest Reviews
- Venture53310153743 (8/5): Quick stop - Richard on reception very welcoming . Check in was effortless and quick. Room great
Pub and food great no complaints at all
- darrellr822 (8/5): Friendly and attentive reception staff Richard and Lorraine - Plenty of parking, clean rooms, friendly staff, decent Beefeater restaurant next door. Handy supermarket also close by.
- Nick1251 (10/5): Great customer service. - Richard and Lorraine were great , very friendly and made sure I’d input my car registration into the car parking system. Richard reminded me of the meal deal offer which I took and booked my time for breakfast. Great service, thank you both very much.
- lozzzie (2/5): Premier Inn doesn't want disabled people - This company does not like disabled people. Despite my phoning to tell them I needed a walk in shower we were given a bath. Apparently they only have one accessible room and it was booked when we arrived. I wasn't told this on the phone. They said they couldn't guarantee but never mentioned there was no hope in hell.
- R6639HOamberr (10/5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Value Stay With Excellent Service - Genuinely impressed by the overall value for money. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short distance from the airport—making it perfect for a quick stopover or an easy start to a longer trip.
The staff were consistently attentive and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. It really added a warm touch to the stay. The hotel itself has clearly benefited from its recent refurbishment; everything looks fresh, modern, and very well maintained.
The room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with all the commodities I needed for a smooth and relaxing stay.
Highly recommended for those looking for a hassle-free, comfortable, and great-value stay!
- Trail29308897688 (10/5): What you would expect. Perfect premier inn experience - These guys checked me in quick and got stuff sorted when needed. Lorraine ann and richard are great and deserve a raise!.
- jonathanwD1019VV (10/5): Very good. - Friendly and helpful staff (Richard and Lorraine), room very clean and tidy. Location easy to find, and plenty of free parking.
- Escape42204857655 (10/5): Can't beat Premier inn - Receptionist Lorraine and richard are two welcoming people and very helpful to customers relations x always use premier inn hotels , this one in Southend 8 times and can't beat the welcoming and advice given by the receptionist x
- W3026YWmariusl (10/5): Best Hotel from the area - I had a really nice experience on my stay at this Hotel, it is the second time this year, the staff is very friendly and helpful and food is delicious.
Thank you very much to Richard and Lorraine for looking after us and i am looking forward ti our next stay at this place.
- G4269MHpeters (10/5): Lovely staff - Richard and Lorraine were so friendly and helpful when I checked in - room very clean and a great breakfast next door too!
- markpF4464RH (10/5): Excellent - Best premier inn we have stayed in will be back.
Many thanks to the Lorraine & Richard for many us very welcome.
What was even better was that the carpark was free and the food was on the doorstep with great deals to be had.
- LittleMoll (10/5): Excellent stay. - We love this hotel and always use it when visiting South Shields or attending events in Newcastle. Rooms are spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was as good as ever and both Brooke and Asha do a fantastic job-honestly can’t rate them highly enough and I sincerely hope their manager recognises what a fabulous job they do! There’s always a warm welcome, everything is well organised and the food is cooked beautifully.
We did have to get in touch with the manager about an issue with our last visit, and although it wasn’t a complaint and not any fault of the hotel, I can honestly say she dealt with it very well and we were happy with how it was resolved. Again it just shows how good the staff at this hotel are with customer relations.
- davidpJ2255GR (4/5): Disappointed with room - Just stayed one night, rather disappointed with our stay, we have previously stayed here and never had a bad experience, this time its different, our room was cold and not properly prepared and smelled of smoke, the windows were open. The toilet seat did not fit well and made a clicking noise, we asked for another room and this was provided, disappointing was the bathroom again this has a smell, the shower is very poor and the extractor fan doesn’t work and the door handles are coming off.
- myramysie (8/5): Premier Plus room - We paid extra for the Premier Plus room.
Online it showed the bathroom as having a walk in shower which as my partner has joint problems and we are pensioners, we thought would be perfect. However our room still had a bath in which you have to climb into, and the only difference was a glass screen and updated toiletries.
The toilet roll holder was barely fixed to the wall, and could have come off at any time.
Not what I expected for the extra money, and the Ultimate WiFi was hit and miss.
I would not waste my money on the so called extras next time. We were disappointed.
- A1470VSruthw (10/5): Fantastic staff, lovely room, lovely staff - Stayed for 1 night after a long drive to the airport before flying the following day.
We were initially greeted by a very welcoming and friendly staff who was helpful. Our check in was very quick and simple.
The room was lovely and clean with all necessary facilities (and easy access to extra tea/coffees for the room)
We had a lovely night sleep and simple check out in the morning.
We also used the parking facilities for the 5 days we are away, this was a reasonable price which went directly into a donation box for charity which i thought was a lovely idea and would definitely encourage me to use premier inn for future :)
- A867CSmarkt (10/5): Top - I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were very welcoming, and the location was perfect—just a short walk to West Quay Shopping Centre. I’d definitely stay here again
- sgandy (10/5): Great for a couple of nights - Great room, great service, great breakfast, and best of all the shower was the best I've had in a while.
Overall, perfect for what I needed for a couple of nights.
- Bigtone1981 (10/5): Professional and friendly - Lorraine & Richard were very professional and friendly. I tend to stay once a month througj work and always feel welcome
- bobcD5104UR (10/5): Great - Spacious, clean rooms and exceptionally friendly staff made my stay wonderful. Great location and excellent value..
- James8673 (10/5): Great hotel - Great service and plus room
Ideal place to stay nice pub next door for meals
Thank you to all and the cleaners done a great job
Claire was very efficient
- joanney654 (10/5): Lovely hotel stay! - Had a wonderful stay at Southend Airport Premier Inn. A very nice friendly welcome on arrival and throughout my stay nothing was too much trouble and the staff are all very kind and helpful. The room we stayed in was modern, clean and comfortable. A very pleasant stay and nights sleep. Thank you team!
- kellylZ9967UY (8/5): Would come again - The rooms are immaculate, really clean. Reception really warm, friendly and helpful. Breakfast really good. Only suggestion is put herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee in rooms too
- pearlo559 (6/5): It was okay! - Hsk kept knocking on the door and disturbed our sleep even tho the checkout time was at 12. Overall the room was clean and nice.
- T1266ZMmikec (8/5): Great stay at Southend Airport Premier Inn. - Very happy with my stay at this hotel. Close to the main road, supermarket right next door if needed. Great pub.
Staff are friendly. To mention a few names Richard and Alice.
Would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
- chipstickl0u (10/5): Great place, with an even greater team - Premier Inn Southend airport has become a secondary home to me now due to work commitments. A great Premier Inn, supported by an exceptional team!
A big shout out has to go to Richard and Alice who go above and beyond to make my weekly stay a great one. From extra heaters on an exceptionally cold night to supporting me with cutlery for my takeaway order- nothing is too much trouble.
While my journey from up north is a trek, it’s comforting to know that when I arrive I’m met with a smiley friendly face and I know I’m in great hands.
What’s clear is all the team here really love doing what they do. Engaging, professional and offer me genuine warmth- exactly what you need when you’re a female solo traveler.
Team Premier Inn Southend- thank you!
- T8791AQbrianc (4/5): Shocking - Shocking
Mushy peas more like mushy pea !!!
Food is so so poor
How is this fish chips and peas
Sorry absolute joke
Stayed for business would not stay if I paid
- Kimmo26 (10/5): Comfortable, affordable and super convenient before cruising out of Southampton - The location near the port as well as near shops was very convenient. The room was very clean and comfortable. Both the dinner and the breakfast we ate there were yummy and fairly priced.
There is no checkin counter, you use the self checkin kiosk but it was simple and efficient.
The only downside is that there no parking directly at the hotel and not drop-off/checkin parking either but it wasn’t such a big inconvenience since there is th shopping mall parking lot right behind the hotel.
- Xavina (8/5): Practical, good for one night or two - Good food and simple/practical stay with all the essentials. Temperature control in the room was poor and you check in on a machine
- F5064UMbillyb (10/5): Premier Inn - South Shields - Exceptional stay!
From the minute you walk into the building until you leave, the staff are attentive, knowledgeable and proud to be working in their hotel.
Rooms are bathroom are clean and tidy with crisp clean bedsheets. Lots of tea and coffee available and if you run out then you can replenish at reception.
Breakfast is fantastic and having stayed there previously it was something I was looking forward too.
Complete value for money and a hotel that is run efficiently with staff who enjoy working there.
- katdL8926IL (10/5): Easy, friendly, great nights sleep & great location - Amazing accommodation- so close to Westquay and town, staff absolutely amazing & so friendly & helpful. Great food and a wonderful nights sleep every night!! Rooms & hotel spotlessly clean. Wonderful stay all round.
Could not recommend it more - we cannot wait to go back! 😊
- KerryHaslam (10/5): North east trip - The room was lovely, the staff were brilliant and the food was fabulous. From the outside it looks a little off putting as next door is closed down, but don't be put off by that, inside is lovely, as are the staff.
- alexdC2395LD (10/5): Great stay pre cruise - We use this hotel night before our cruise in Southampton. It’s in an ideal location 10 mins by taxi to cruise port. The hotel is well run rooms and bed always very comfortable. The breakfast and dinner deal for £26.99 is extremely good value. The staff in the restaurant are very attentive. The breakfast is one of the best we’ve had plenty variety and freshly cooked. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
- Traveller2363 (8/5): Great location - Great hotel, located in centre, new hotel, clean, well presented. Self check in. Loads of car parks around the hotel and bar on site.
- vic2riahelen (10/5): Good value great staff - Room fine, modern and fairly clean. Good value for money. Best part was the staff, in particular Asha and Brooke the breakfast team. So accommodating, friendly and kind to our boys. Will return thanks to these staff.
- valeriegK620PR (10/5): Smiley helpful and attentive - Staff (Helen) on arrival gave lots of advice on places to eat locally and after deciding to order takeaway, allowed us to eat in breakfast room and use cutlery and plates.
Breakfast team, (Asha and Brooke) were also very cheerful and helpful. Asha in particular spoke to everyone making sure they had everything they needed and the returned comments on leaving were all appreciative.
We visit Premier inns several times a year and all are good but this time we feel that the staff are part of a happy team that is prepared to go above and beyond and deserved a mention
- H5682NWjanetv (10/5): Hotel for shopping heaven - Lovely experience great for shopping and amazing
Staff always there to assist. Food is amazing and great value. Lovely clean rooms.
- Jet67998497412 (4/5): Short staffed and no car park discount - Very short staffed. The bar staff have to help you book in...If you need help. We used to stay at this hotel the night before a cruise and use the closely situated car park as they had a discount agreement with the owners. They recently stopped this agreement and failed to inform us. So leaving the car for our on going cruise duration was very expensive.
- keithrK2164DE (8/5): Reopen the adjoining pub! - Would be great if the adjoining pub was open but apart from this the overall experience was great. The location is OK if you don't get lost from Bede or Simonside metro stations which Google maps took me to the Burger king, McDonald's and Tesco before correcting itself. I would suggest to come here if you want to spend a few days on the Toon as you would save money then being in the center of Newcastle (even with the price of the metro then the price of a Premier Inn in Newcastle itself)
- Camper77227 (10/5): Family stay at Premier Inn South Shields (Port of Tyne) - Stayed at Premier Inn in South Shields (Port of Tyne), & wanted to express my gratitude to all staff during our stay. Special mention for Asher in Restaurant, who offered first class customer service, both to me & all my family at Breakfast.
Well done & thanks to all concerned.
Regards
Ian turpin
- Y3906XZtrevorm (8/5): Great Stay - A very enjoyable stay would go back again no problem 😊 very helpful staff with good food. Happy to stay here every time in Southampton.
- mollykD8114HP (10/5): Excellent - An excellent hotel in a heart of city centre. Close to the cinema, shops and restaurants. Very comfortable before going on cruise. Staff is very friendly and professional and always willing to help. Breakfast was really busy when we stayed but nothing was too much trouble for the team. They are big credit to the company.
- M169VVkarenw (10/5): Little City Break - Perfect little city break with my other half. Everything was just perfect from first day. There was an issue with hot water on the day but it did not bother us as this was not hotels fault. All staff we have seen were lovely and very friendly. Massive credit to the company. It has been very busy but they all have managed perfectly. Keep up the good job team. Hopefully we will be back again before Christmas :)
- jessicat1999 (10/5): Perfect before a cruise - We stayed here for 1 night before a cruise and it was perfect! it's in a fantastic location which didn't require us to need a taxi to the terminal the following morning. We booked a Premium Plus room and it was great. A nice large bed, seating area and the bathroom was very nice too. Shame there was no bath tub but for 1 night I don't mind! We will deffo stay here again before our next cruise.
- loopylou232 (2/5): Eaten by bugs - Bitten to death by bugs, it looked like someone had been bumped off in the room. Scratching so much during the night it made us bleed.
I stripped the beds on leaving I was so embarrassed
- VQK (2/5): Disappointing Hotel - Do not stay here! Hotel rooms are not adequate. There is no closet, no refrigerator and no chair/couch other than table chairs. There is a huge space where a chair/couch can go, but it is empty. The room is basic.
When I stayed, the hotel had NO hot water and we’re not apologetic for it. Didn’t even offer free breakfast for the lack of hot water.
- kirstyhE8460RT (10/5): Lovely stay with family - Perfect location and perfect stay! We stayed pre -cruise with my family and all I can say is WOW! From the minute you walk in everything looks so modern and clean. Yes - parking charges are now £15.00 for multi-storey car park but it isn't hotels fault and being in a heart of city centre what else can you expect?! This didn't bother us at all. All team that we spoke to were friendly and really professional so I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone! We surely be back next year.
- Markkar (10/5): Fabulous Experience - Stayed overnight before joining our cruise. Room very clean & comfortable.
We purchased the meal deal to make life easier. Was served by Elle....what a complete & utter star she was!! Very friendly, brilliant rapport and just a bubbly character. Could not have asked for any better. Beautiful young lady. Upon Breakfast we were looked after by "Elles mum" who was just as attentive, we can see where Elles Character comes from. Thank you very much ladies for looking after us and making our stay that little bit brighter & enjoyable. ❤️
- stephenlW7650TJ (4/5): High parking charges - Parking charges are to high at £15 per night it makes it expensive for us to stay 4 nights at £60, by reading some of the reviews the parking only a few weeks ago was only £7 and double..The room was nice and a fresh feel but the work noise was horrible are on holiday and didn’t expect to hear the work at 7.40am 😡 I didn’t think we will be staying here again.
- AndyG508 (6/5): You Are Better Than This Premier Inn! - Hotel itself was all you positively expect from the Premier Inn brand.
However, there is nowhere to eat or drink nearby unless you get a taxi.
The attached pub on site, The Cinder Path, has been closed for over two years and is is falling apart. This does not offer or add anything to the initial welcome or arrival on site. Especially when Premier Inn staff sit within its doorway smoking.
The hotel itself is great, excellent breakfast and very good team.
Premier Inn…try to do something about The Cinder Path! Open if for use as your own restauant or bar possibly?
- 37alanf (8/5): Adequate hotel with friendly staff - Room was standard size, and did the job for a two night stay in South Shields. The area around the hotel looked a little run down, but the hotel itself was fine.
- 401alasdairw (10/5): Excellent value - Comfortable hotel in excellent situation. Warm and welcoming staff. Have stayed a number of times and will be happy to return.
- P3784ZApeterr (10/5): Great place to stop at and see whats around the area - The stay at the Premier Inn at Tyne Port was perfect location to visit the surrounding area Whitley Bay. Tynemouth ,Seaburn and not far away from Durham
- nicholam987 (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived on Friday 26th September we took our two youngest granddaughters whom one of them was going to be 6 and she’d chosen to stay here for her birthday
We had a fantastic time staff were amazing
I would like to say to the two breakfast staff on Saturday morning who excelled themselves, they went out and bought her a small present and card and lit a candle in a croissant she was over the moon I’d like to say thank you sooooo much to go and use your own money to make her feel special well you did and she has told everyone
I never got your names but it was Saturday 27th September xxx
- AmandaT3669 (10/5): Best Premier Inn! - Always stay in a Premier for short city breaks. South Shields was very handy for son’s uni drop off and amazing value. The staff were the warmest, most welcoming and helpful of any hotel staff we’ve encountered anywhere in the UK. The room was clean and newly refurbed, the bed was super comfy and the room was blissfully quiet all night (much appreciated after a 6 hour journey!) The breakfast was high quality and delicious with a lovely attentive host and chef. Will be back for every uni trip over the next 3 years.
- MattGtYarmouth (10/5): Nice hotel close to the Metro - Stayed for 2 nights whilst taking part in the Great North Run.
Plenty of parking available, reception team very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable, very clean with a great bathroom.
Good Wi-Fi, excellent breakfast. Only downside is the on-site bar/restaurant has closed down, but there are other local eateries which the staff were more than happy to direct us to.
Metro is just a short walk away, giving easy and quick access into Newcastle and South Shields.
Will definitely stay here again.
- DiBo2021 (10/5): Premier Plus is worth the extra. - Very quiet and room dark due to good curtains. Premier Plus is excellent for a more luxurious stay. Best night sleep in a while.
- emilyaQ231GJ (8/5): Modern and clean rooms, friendly staff and great hotel - When we arrived the staff on reception were friendly and helpful and they asked I was doing the great north run. When I said yes they gave me a bag with some items such as a banana. This was a really thoughtful touch and it started our stay off very positively.
We booked a premier plus room and it was large and modern with a nice sized shower.
We hadn’t booked breakfast as we weren’t able to have it the first morning but on our second morning we added it on. The breakfast was warm and fresh and very good value.
The room had air con though we did have to ask for a fan as it didn’t seem to be as effective at times.
It is a shame there is no longer a restaurant but the staff were very knowledgeable about local places to eat. The inside of the hotel was very modern but the outside did look a bit tired.
We hope to stay here again for next years great north run.
- F8028QVkerryc (10/5): Comfortable GNR stay - Whilst I couldn’t give the hotel 5/5 for value for money due to the dynamic pricing applied for the Great North Run, I can give it 5/5 for the amazing staff and the service which we had. The front of house team were very friendly at check in and check-out and despite it being extremely busy the dining room staff were also brilliant during breakfast, going above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. The little touches such as the goody bag with a banana, water and Epsom salts were a lovely touch, as were the snacks which were available after we’d made our weary way back to the hotel.
- C8446GTjesser (8/5): south shields is beautiful - on arrival we assumed it was going to be a run down premier inn however inside the rooms are lovely and look newly refurbished it's one of the nicest premier inns room wise we have stayed, the breakfast room is a little small as the restaurant is closed but the staff were brilliant and we got a seat ever morning we went down for breakfast. my only criticism is the outside needs a little tlc and it would have been nice to have the option of a restaurant but south shields was brilliant and we didn't struggle to find somewhere to eat. Staff were all very friendly and helpful would definitely stay there again.
- E7842AUemilyp (10/5): Amazing time as always - Amazing time as always, rooms lovely and quiet didn’t hear a noise the whole time. There is always a car parking space. Staff always go above and beyond especially Sam and Chris. Wills definitely be returning
