Guest Reviews
- jenniferdA3652RA (10/5): Stay here - Liam and his team were absolute stars. The room was warm and spotlessly clean. Thankyou. I'd thoughoughly recommend this hotel for value, location to the A303 and customer service
- A9487DUchristinag (10/5): Great stay - Great place, affordable, spotless room and bathroom, comfortable beds, room temperature just right and the noise non existent from outside. So close to Alnwick castle as well.
- Jay-jay149 (10/5): Please give here a try if you're in the area. - Our stay was amazing. Rooms clean, modern and comfortable. A nice place to stay over for an amazing price (£64 for 2 people in twin room) good parking, ev chargers, and breakfast options. We had a fab stay and highly recommend
- 812shonab (10/5): A great stay - First time staying at this fairly new PI .Plenty parking ,good base for Alnwick Castle ,gardens,Barter books etc walkable distances for fit enough.Room as expected ,nice cosy bar area .Had breakfast £10.99 for eat everything buffet.Good value ,in other cities its more expensive .Staff at breakfast seemed efficient and polite .Would stay again as good value room £45 on a Monday
- paultZ7970XV (8/5): A good experienmce, overall. - A very convenient stopping place for us - two minutes off the A303. Satnav took us straight there.
Welcoming staff at reception and in the restaurant. Rooms were clean, comfortable and adequately furnished.
our only negative observation was that the restaurant could do with an upgrade, and all of the tables were sticky to touch - the staff said they had tried everything... A shame - we would still return...
- alisterc607 (10/5): A very comfortable hotel - Stayed one night 4th November. On arrival I was greeted by a very helpful girl check in was easy. Down for dinner to be greeted by the same girl. The girl showed me to my table took my order. Another young girl brought my drink, then brought my meal. There was only the two girls working reception, the bar, taking orders and serving, they were the hardest working young girls I have seen in along time, very polite with a smile, you are a credit to the hotel
- 891debbied (8/5): Weekend in Alnwick - Friendly staff on arrival, we were 30 mins early for check in and as we didn’t want to pay extra for an early check in (our room was ready) we parked and walked into Alnwick. Room were as expected. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times, the food was nice and plenty of choice (we did the meal deal) but there was just a slight undercurrent of staffing issues / understaffed and service very slow. Hopefully this will improve, it’s the second time of staying here and we would return.
- ebsnewt7 (10/5): Lovely clean and modern Premier Inn so close to Alnwick attractions - A wonderful stay for me and my family. We were visiting Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei. It was so close. The hotel was cosy, my boys loved the purple strip light about the bed, the staff were friendly, and the shower was super hot and powerful. I found the price really reasonable and kids eating free was an added bonus for breakfast. All in all a perfect stay.
- al7712018 (10/5): Great stay and great food - What can I say, from start to finish we had an amazing time and felt wanted and important. The staff were lovely and communicated everything we could ask for. I got the feeling that the team were more like a family than work colleagues and Liam who I think was the manager seemed to be everywhere and so friendly. We had a lovely breakfast which set us up for the day and my daughter was made to feel like a princess which is what she will now expect from us!!!! Great team and great service, well done!
- essexgirl20 (8/5): Premier Inn Alnwick - Booked a Premier Plus room and we were satisfied with the room. Larger bed, fridge with water, coffee machine with pods and walk in shower in the bathroom. Room was clean and comfortable. There is an in house bar and small restaurant. It can get busy so better to book a table in the evening. The food was simple but well cooked and presented. Breakfast was self service and again well cooked with a range of cereals, pastries, fruit and yogurts. Again the staff were pleasant and helpful. We will book again on our next visit to the area.
- plusjandd (10/5): Excellent hotel especially as a centre to explore Northumberland. - Easy access, convenient to the town and the rest of Northumberland, superb car parking. Hotel is well maintained, staff very friendly and efficient, room clean and comfortable - air conditioned throughout. Restaurant good with a decent menu, especially for breakfast. Lots of well thought out details showing this is run by an experienced operating company. Well recommended.
- Rodmacs (10/5): Perfect... - Was given upgraded premier plus room and it was fabulous. The food was first class but what made it perfect was the very friendly welcoming staff. Plenty of parking available. We use this when using Newcastle Airport as it's always good, will be back, thank you
- The_5ims (6/5): Could be better but not too bad - Stayed for two nights here whilst visiting Alnwick and Bamburgh Castles and Holy island. Great location for all those if you have a car.
I would say the room was clean but unfortunately I found someone’s old socks on the shelf of the side table!
I took them down to reception and he did apologise.
As others have said the staff are very young, some are really switched on and efficient some are not. Second night they took our order for food and it was quite sometime before she came to say they were out of my dish, so was almost an hour until we got dinner. My cocktail had been made wrongly too, should have had a prosecco shot but it didn’t.
Just some more training needed I think, the staff are really friendly and I don’t know her name but the girl with the long ginger hair was fantastic.
We possibly would return here because it is convenient and cheap, but I don’t want to find dirty socks next time!
- wispa9333 (10/5): Autumn break with Storm Amy - Excellent location, just off the A1. Ideal for Alnwick Castle,Bamburgh Castle, Cragside and Lindesfarne to name a few
- jime9642018 (6/5): Not the best Premier Inn experience. - Room ok but restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Waited 10 minutes at breakfast time , no staff appeared to seat us, so left for somewhere that would serve us.
- 306PaulS306 (10/5): Great weekend away - Wonderful location for exploring Northumberland.
Close to numerous worthwhile tourist attractions, I.e Holy Island, Bambour, Seahouses etc.
Room 1st class and staff very friendly and helpful
- 571anth (10/5): Piece of cake - I'm sure I've stayed here before but this time it was more memorable. In particular Emily in the restaurant was extremely welcoming & attentive. I'm sure I will stay again soon & look forward to my next visit.
- robynneh2019 (2/5): Not good - Really bad management. Shouted at by a cleaner saying they will call the police if I don’t leave the room. Despite being placed here by police for domestic abuse. Expensive for what it’s worth.
- MichaelPilling2014 (6/5): Great new facilities - very poor food - Great rooms, parking and staff.
Evening meal was very poor. Many menu items unavailable. The curry was like a watery soup and was sent back. The pizza was a very poor frozen pizza. Breakfast wasn’t up to usual premier standards - poor choice of continental and very average hot food presentation
- Jan5660 (8/5): Premier Inn - The hotel is relatively new and it shows. The staff were very friendly but overworked. The receptionist seems to be expected to run the bar and serve food. Either management or Whitbread need to rethink this. The fire alarm was playing up when we arrived which the receptionist was having to deal with amongst everything else expected of them. The room was clean, comfortable, just what you expect from Premier Inn.
- Connector827031 (10/5): A Gem of a place to stay ALNWICK - My husband x I have used premier inns for many years and eric is a retired tour guide so knows best places to stay for value I am fussy about cleanliness and good value for money .
I can say without a doubt Alnwick premier inn is without reservation exceptional in every way .
Service standards especially helpfulness of staff nothing is ever too much of problem Toni was amazing girl professional standards of hygiene knowledge of menus and service quick and served with smile always checking you were happy with your meal .Dan was also very helpful .The chef asked how liked food cooked if meat again service amazing .
The premier rooms were clean hypnos bed so comfy and everything g you'd ever need .even bottled water in fridge .the only criticism was carpet looked tired maybe a vax wash needed if you want Great holiday this place is one NOT TO BE MISSED the duty manager kept show going endlessly dedicated member of great team .I would say this inn is as good as any 4 star hotel in few cities ives stopped in Thankyou for great memory of a beautiful place that's ALNWICK Northumberland .
- BMCT14 (4/5): Hotel okay, restaurant very poor - Firstly let me say that the staff were brilliant. Friendly and professional so this review is not aimed at that them. They coped with our large reservation for dinner admirably.
The hotel is okay although a refurb wouldn’t go amiss.
That only leaves the restaurant and evening dinner. Basic items unavailable, order taken then found out that meal couldn’t be completed. Quantity and quality was a joke, well actually it wasn’t, it was unacceptable. You could count the chips on the plate. My colleague ordered prawn cocktail which came with pieces of cucumber and a slither of lettuce. I assume the remaining part of the single lettuce they must have had made up the minimal salad on another order!
Our colleague arrived at 2020 only to be told the kitchen had closed. Pointless having a meal deal.
On a corporate booking basis we have used this Premier Inn over a number of years, usually five or six times a year. Sadly the evening restaurant service has gone down hill and is nearly at the bottom of the slope.
If you must stay there use the adjacent McDonalds instead !!
- Getaway35339993130 (6/5): Rats, Poor Wi-Fi, and Slow Service - The bed was comfortable, and the room itself was quite spacious. However, I had to ask the staff several times before the room was cleaned, as they didn’t react the first time. The food was okay, nothing special.
The free internet was a joke — you can log in, but then it cuts off and only works in short bursts. On top of that, the hotel asks you to pay for “premium” internet, which should really be free like everywhere else nowadays. Very disappointing.
Outside, the situation is even worse. There is a large bin right at the entrance that is always overflowing, making the place look dirty and unwelcoming. To make matters worse, the area is full of rats. Every time I went out for a smoke, I saw at least one. Just recently, two were fighting right in front of the hotel in the flower beds. I could even hear them squeaking before one ran off. Unfortunately, I couldn’t record it, but it was extremely unpleasant to witness.
- Linlea96 (10/5): Can recommend - I was thinking of cancelling my booking when I read some reviews however glad we didn't. Staff were so friendly and food was much better than we expected
- I3328XXjuliem (4/5): Could do with a good clean and an upgrade!! - I love a premier Inn when I travel in the uk, I find them to be of a consistent standard…this one is an exception. We waited a short while to be checked in, we arrived just before 10pm, we were handed an extra towel which appeared to be clean but had a smell of fried food. We went up to our room which was reasonably clean if a little dated. My husband popped down to the bar (we had been travelling for about 8 hours by this point) although there was a man behind the bar my husband was told the bar was closed and he couldn’t be served….not even a lemonade!
We had a quiet night although the room was rather hot due to poor air conditioning.
Breakfast had clearly been sitting around for a while, all a little dry looking. The dining area had a real problem with fruit flies, many of the sauce bottles were crusty with dried sauce which was attracting the insects.
The tables were sticky to the touch which was rather off putting….the inside of the windows were covered with dirty hand prints.
It served a purpose (an overnight stay from Heathrow to Devon) but it’s not up to usual Premier Inn standards.
- samanthak983 (10/5): Great stay at this hotel. - We had a great first stay at a Premier Inn in Alnwick. There was a great size car park, where you had to sign in when you get in the hotel. The man on reception was very welcoming and efficient. Our room on the first floor was of a good size, the bed was a king size and so comfortable. The bathroom was a good size it included a bath with a shower, I’m on the small size, it was a struggle getting out of the bath side, it was on the high side. This is a new hotel, everything in the room was spotlessly clean and sparkling.
We had a great sleep, there was no noise from neighbouring rooms or people walking along the corridor or outside.
We were only there overnight so never used any of the amenities.
We thought the hotel was good value for money and will definitely use Premier Inn again.
- JLH22 (10/5): High Quality Premier Inn - We stayed in a twin room and found the single bed to be comfier than most Premier Inn twin rooms. The shower was excellent. Breakfast was great and we would stay again.
- simondS9684WB (10/5): Breast customer service - Great customer service, can’t do enough for you, really enjoyable experience
George has been brilliant as all the staff have
- P9099RGfrancisr (2/5): Parking - Stayed weekend 22/08/25 for 3 nights and have stayed here on previous occasions without any problems . Today (08/08/25) I received 2 parking fines for dates over this weekend even though our details were put into the automated machine. My Wife telephoned the hotel several times this morning and when it was eventually answered it appeared the phone was just put down.
- B5562FVjackiec (4/5): Not good - Disabled room OK, chef could not grill meat chicken or steak no cocktail ingredients constant playing of christmas carols in July until it was mentioned then questioned about my religion. Disabled so no where else to go not easy to cros the A303 with underpass and rough sleepers suggest best option macdonalds next door, I think this is a contractors inn
- C9530OVsuej (4/5): Terrible service - There was three of us in resturant two steak and ale pies with chips and peas and one chicken and ham no peas. What came was one steak and ale with peas and a pie without peas when opening it up it was steak I asked a out it she took it came back she came back 5mins later with the pie I had opened with a spoonful of peas barely cooked and was then told I would have to wait 8 mins for the chicken pie because the ticket machine has made a mistake. Not good enough
- U6726UXlucyc (8/5): Great stay - A lovely warm welcome when I checked in for my 1 night stay. Jessica on reception was very informative and gave me all the information I needed for my stay. The room was fine and food was nice. All staff were friendly and I would definitely rebook if in the area again.
- nikkia23 (4/5): Very poor! - We booked into the Premier Inn for a one night stay as we were travelling from Cornwall to Kent. We were due to arrive after 11 p.m. with two small children so I tried to call ahead to advise. When there was no answer on reception, I sent a quick email. Another 4 attempts to call over a 3 hour period I gave up. Arrived just after 11 at night with 2 small children. Still no receptionist so after a 10 minute wait I found a buzzer inside the door. Finally a girl appeared and checked us in...with no apology or warm welcome. The room was the usual standard. Although we had one towel between 4 of us! We booked in for breakfast the next morning. It was quiet so the food had clearly been sat there for hours and everything was shrivelled!!! The restaurant was dirty, no loo roll in 2 out of 3 toilets... just generally a very disappointing stay. Ive stayed in a lot of Premier inns and never felt the need to complain.
- Wanderingprincesshey (2/5): Poor experience at this hotel - Air conditioning in room didn’t work
Bathroom extractor fan didn’t work
Breakfast offerings minimal - not provided with selection advertised and paid for
Generally below par all round - would not stay here again
- P265DJmarkb (8/5): Good, could be better - I enjoyed the accommodation here, as it was conveniently located for my needs, the breakfast was good, although some items were missing for some reason. The chicken & ham pie was nice too, my only gripe, for the love of all that is holy, please switch your cleaning solution, the tables were so sticky after being cleaned with it, it's a horrible feeling when you put your arm on the table and your skin sticks to it.
- debbienL5580WO (2/5): Lovely indoors but be aware of the wildlife outdoors - Stayed 3 nights for BSB at Thruxton.
The staff were lovely although the manager was a bit of a flapper. She was a lovely woman though.
Expecting her to waitress and cover reception meant she had to disappear and our medium rare steak arrived very well done. Young lad in the restaurant, Bradley, who is new to hospitality was very pleasant and helpful. Not his fault as probably hasn't been told but one thing that winds my watch is when he cleared hubby's plates away while I was still only 2 thirds through my meal.
It wasn't particularly busy for meals but a lot of people drinking at the bar. Premier inn know they're going to be busy, so put extra staff on.
Room was spotless. Paid the extra for premier plus so had air con as I know these places are hotter than Lucifers bedroom!
I do have to warn people to look out for the rats when outside. The 2nd night i could see the rats running past the window while we were eating, off to maccies across the road to get a happy meal for the kids! Went for a cigarette in the designated smoking area and had one nearly run across my foot! Not a rat box anywhere.
I'd stay again if they sort the rat issue out. Dont want to watch them running around while I'm eating!
- 85trevorl (8/5): Breakfast was a let down!! - Accommodation excellent but breakfast not good for those with gluten free diets as there was no bread and very little else under continental breakfast.
- Sightsee758859 (10/5): Would use again - Clean comfortable friendly. Enjoyed all you can eat breakfast. Would happily return if in area. Plenty of parking. Located in industrial estate and got confused finding and leaving hotel.
- allan125 (10/5): Perfect location for visiting the area - A perfect location for visiting the area, in our case for the British Superbikes meeting at Thruxton race circuit, literally just down the road (A303)
- paulkA152HS (6/5): Friendly helpful staff. Hotel needs a refresh. - The staff were friendly,welcoming & helpful.
Plenty of parking available.
Bed was comfortable.
Hotel looks tired & needs refurbishing.
Hotel was clean apart from behind the radiator in the dining room.
Food was ok but items were unavailable on the evening menu & food at breakfast was slow to be replenished.
No mini fridge or safe available in room.
