Guest Reviews
- pauleD53TZ (8/5): Prem Inn Rugeley - The hotel is on the outskirts of Rugeley with an pub next door. I would advise that you register you car with the Parking Eye system for the number of nights you intend to stay. The food at the Collier (next door) is worth a visit, the menu is large and the food is excellent. But be aware the service can be a bit slow.
If you intend to stay at this hotel, breakfast is served in the Collier with hot and cold choices. However when I visited I didn't come across any scrambled egg.
- Z1206OAdavidb (10/5): Nice place, clean and friendly. - Lovely people, clean and well run hotel. Breakfast was okay and staff were also great. I would thoroughly recommend. Atmosphere was good.
- R1198XMjamesl (10/5): Business Trip - Lovely room. Staff very nice. Would definitely recommend a visit in the future. Very cheap too. Good across the road too.
- nikkilT9944EA (10/5): Cracking refurb and super comfy bed - A great room with a cracking refurb; we’ve stayed here before and it was tired so it was nice to see it all done up, we stayed in the Premier Plus room and it was well worth the extra, staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, well done
- Roam43241247609 (10/5): Would stay here again - Excellent hotel. Rooms very clean and comfortable beds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Could not fault this hotel in any way
I stayed for 4 nights.would highly recommend this premier inn hotel
- jacobbP7377JU (10/5): 10/10 - Checked in by Sam, very helpful and great service 10/10, came for business and best premier inn I have been to. Manager is also very accommodating
- andymY1034AI (4/5): poorly cleaned - disgusting uncleaned sink in the bathroom. not only had hand basin not be cleaned properly for us, i dont believe this amount of 'hair' has accumulated from one previous guest, it is my opinion this is days / weeks of poor cleaning, it had built up under the plug, and appeared when plug was flipped over, smell was horrendous . i am glad to say reception came straight up and dealt with it. but should never have been left like this in 1st place
- 565sicilym (10/5): nice rooms - brilliant reception staff, clean hotel and rooms, beds are very comfy, never had an issue out of all the times i’ve stayed here
- 461ainsleyp (10/5): Brilliant - Nice clean room, lovely reception staff where very helpful
Good value for price, nice breakfast. Bathroom nice and clean
- ashleywX9710FJ (10/5): Brilliant stay - Excellent stay. Great reception staff, really helpful. Food was delicious and quick to serve. Bar staff was also very good
- 70dazerr (10/5): Annual trip to Alton towers - Had a lovely stay at premier inn Rugeley
It's me and my Daughters annual scarefest visit to Alton towers.
So we chose to stay at this wonderful hotel
We had separate rooms which were both spotless clean throughout. Nice and quiet and real comfortable bed the shower was nice and powerful.
We had the hotel meal deal which was a 2 course meal and unlimited breakfast in the morning. Which was good value for £25 each. The 2 course meal was nice and nice steak main course which was cooked well I even had a pint with the meal deal
Breakfast there is plenty of options the only downside it was a little cold .
The staff in the hotel were all very helpful and welcoming .
Will definitely stay here again
- annemariedQ9232BK (2/5): Disgusting food - I am so disappointed in this £144 and the food in the pub next door which I had paid for unlimited breakfast was disgusting.... so disgusting it's made me really sick .... cold sausages, no food topped up it was dirty as well I will not be going to this one ever again
- F9425SZpaulr (2/5): Will not return - Stayed for business as I do regularly with premier inns and unfortunately this place is going down hill and I will not be staying again , rooms are shabby , dirty and staff uninterested the restaurant next door needs closing come on premier in sort your self out what has happened
- refiloek604 (10/5): Perfect and I can recommend to all my friends and family. I liked the spacing in the rooms and the tv was working well - I had a very wonderful time. The service was amazing and the rooms were super clean and the food was great. The staff members were very helpful and with a smile
- 666brownb (10/5): No problems - Amy sicily and Emma brilliant very helpful can't do enough for you i have been staying for some time and they never fail to help with everything always have a warm welcome
- js0u (10/5): A great stay - This Premier Inn was perfectly placed for us.
We had a room on the top floor which was large and beautifully clean.
The receptionist was very helpful when we first arrived.
The breakfast was amazing!
All staff we met were polite and friendly.
- peteyates (8/5): Great deal. Good room. Let down by indifferent food at the Colliers. - Booked a premium plus room. Good deal as booked a month in advance. Room very good. Mini fridge, espresso coffee machine, and waterfall shower with nice accessories. Housekeeping let us down, as used coffee pods from previous guests left in room and no new ones.
Eating at the Colliers hit and miss. Wanted a carvery on the Sunday, at 5pm. But no Turkey, a minute piece of gammon left, and roast beef well dried out. Vegetables had been there a while.
Breakfast was plated, no buffet service. Poor quality food, kept warm for too long.
- 984gerardp (10/5): Excellent location (next to the M56). Staff very friendly and helpful. - Excellent stay. Great location with plenty of parking. The on site Beefeater was excellent value with great food. Bedrooms and showers up tot he usual standard. Rooms very quiet considering proximity to the M56. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- nikkifincher18 (8/5): Good hotel - Lovely hotel and good size family room enjoyed our stay, only downfall there was rust on the bath by the taps and there was no decaff tea or sweetener option and the pillows were a little too hard. but overall good hotel maybe just a couple of tweaks and it would of been perfect.
- Veloist (8/5): Comfortable nights sleep - Like Peter H of a week ago we also stayed in room 104. No issues with noise whatsoever. Had a good night’s sleep to break up a long journey. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that the soap dispenser next to the sink in the bathroom was empty (housekeeping should have spotted this), but it was promptly replaced. Food was fine in the pub next door.
- 501terryh (10/5): Excellent staff - I have been staying at this premier inn for many years during the build and break of Creamfields Festival. This year I found myself needing to stay for a longer period of around 9 days. The two wonderful ladies on the reception, Amy and Emma could not have been more helpful to me during my stay if they tried. Their customer service was truly outstanding and their friendly demeanour really made my stay away from home for such a long time much more pleasant. Big thanks to them in particular.
- megansN6930EY (10/5): Best bed - Best bed ever, I slept in and they have everything you need in a hotel
The restaurant next door has BRILLIANT food . The man who served us was the most kind and polite.
- peterhZ155VI (2/5): AVOID! Lovely staff, but an appalling design, build quality and dismissive guest relations response to my complaint - I stay in Premier Inns around the UK regularly for work, plus book rooms for our empliyees too, and this is THE WORST I have ever been to. We booked 2 Premier Plus rooms and were allocated 103 and 104. Unlike almost every other Premier Inn with Premier Plus rooms, where the rooms are on the top floor and away from lifts, stairs and lots of foot traffic, this one has them grouped around the staircase area. That means LOTS OF NOISE from signature creaking staircases, lifts, doors opening and closing as guests just move around the high traffic areas (and in this case the guests were not shouting, talking loudly or anything else - just walking).
The family rooms are also directly above the Premier Plus rooms, which is just a bizarre layout decision - indeed, the staff at the hotel said they had warned management that this would create problems when it was refurbished, but they were ignored.
In 103, the paper-thin walls to the main staircase meant we heard every guest walk up the creaky stairs and across the landing, then into the corridor where the stairwell door slammed loundly shut each time behind them. This didn't stop until 2am.....
Before 7am, we were woken by children in the family room above running back and forth relentlessly for over an hour. Then at 9am, housekeeping parked their trolley outside 103 and opposite 104, with the staff started talking loudly right by our doors, depite our 'Do not disturb - we're sleeping' signs being on our doors. We could literally hear their every word. So unprofessional.
In 104, the reception was directly below and the noise from conversations and the lobby door opening and closing was equally disturbing, as was the family room above.
I spoke to reception as we left and reported our extreme dissatisfation. They were lovely and very apologetic. The same can't be said for guest relations, who I contacted on our return. They said we should have got up at 2am, dressed and gone to reception, who would have moved us elsewhere. As we didn't do that, they say that their Good Night Guarantee doesn't apply, which is laughable. Either they guarantee a good night's sleep or they don't - clearly they don't!
I'm sorry Premier Inn, you shouldn't be putting premium rooms (that despite booking 5 months in advance still cost £173 each per night) in such high traffic areas, then try to blame customers for not wanting to get up in the early hours, repack their belongings and traipse to another room.
So if you want a decent night's sleep, AVOID the Premier Plus rooms at this hotel at a minimum and spend your money on a nice independent hotel instead. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to be disturbed and for Guest Relations to brush off your concerns - their final line to me in an email was appalling - it read: "At this time, we can confirm that this is our final resolution in this matter and we will not be corresponding further either via telephone or email. We now consider this case closed."
- toonwanderer (2/5): BY FAR THE WORST PREMIER INN WE'VE STAYED INN - Only thing positive about this place were the staff, car parking and location for Chester Zoo!
Arrived at hotel to be told that breakfast had been cancelled due to a maintenance issue which they were aware of earlier in the day but didn't bother getting in touch to offer an alternative or a refund to allow guests to book elsewhere.
As we were travelling with 2 young children this hotel was specifically booked as it was the nearest to our destination that offered breakfast! Had the hotel not offered breakfast we wouldn't have booked it!
The room was hot and humid as they don't have air-conditioning. Beds were far to soft to the point of being uncomfortable! Carpets were grubby, and in the public areas badly worn. In fact the whole place is crying out for a refurbishment. All round cleanliness could be improved too.
All things considered we won't be staying here again and urge anyone thinking of doing so to think long and hard before booking as there are better choices nearby. For us it was by far the worst Premier Inn we've ever stayed in!
- Roving66137411679 (10/5): Great stay, well recommended - We stayed as a group in the Premiere Inn at Rugeley. It was a lovely stay with a very comfy bed and modern bathroom. It looked very well maintained compared to other Premiere Inns. The lady Tracey on reception was very kind helpful. Would definately stay again.
Thank you
- BBM82 (10/5): Great overnight stay for excellent price - We stayed here for one night in a family room. This was great as for our family, bunk beds cannot work so this set up of the double (possibly king?) bed and two single beds worked great. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and had everything we needed. For the price we paid you cannot go wrong. There is a Table Table restaurant on the same property and a McDonald's across the road. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we were in the atea
- Sheffield240589 (2/5): Absolutely terrible puts Premier inn to shame all. Others are lovley! Even food for very slow and not great - Room 14 was stinking of mouldy smell
Was so hot even with windows. Open couldn't not have fan on as was making mouldy smell. Worse! I am now ill with chest infection due to breathing in this and spending g the night here even thoe I wore a face mask all night because of the smell
- 510dacap (6/5): No desk underneath TV? - Good experience overall and polite staff. However I was told Premier Inn doesn’t put desks under the TV which was odd. It made the room feel like a warehouse rather than a room. What next? No warderobe? This is not a 1 star hotel but without the desk it feels like one.
Staff was wonderful but can you reconsider the desk situation ?
- Peterburden1973 (8/5): Max power Staffordshire - Clean and comfortable with premier inn facilities all that was required for an overnight stay along with the colliers restaurant next door.
- glendat505 (10/5): great stay, fantastic staff - We stayed here end of may. We had 2 rooms.
Both rooms were very clean, and comfortable.
All reception areas, were equally clean to a very high standard.
The reception staff, couldn't do enough for you, they were very friendly and approachable. And appreciated even more, that not only did they manage reception, they helped with housekeeping.
The housekeeping staff, equally very friendly and worked so hard, our rooms so clean.
We had booked in for breakfast, next door. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, and was kept well stocked up
Again staff worked hard, and friendly.
Premier inn management, you are very lucky to have these ppl work for you. They all worked so hard, and kept on smiling.
We will be returning in the not to distant future.
Sorry for the delay, we have had a new addition to the family.
Best wishes to all of you, who made our stay, a good one.
- jeremyturtle10 (10/5): Beyond fantastic - We stayed in one of the Plus rooms . These rooms are better appointed than some top 3 star hotels. Very clean, wonderful polite staff in the hotel. Would more than highly recommend....
We will recommend this Premier Inn to our friends and family.
- paulcL1147LT (6/5): Premier inn runcorn - Sadly, this hotel really needs an air con upgrade.
For balance, it was easy to check in and get to the room. Plenty of parking and no other issues.
Warmth was a big problem. The room was really warm. No air con means having the window open and a fan in the room.
The hotel next to the motorway so with the window open, its really noisy.
Unfortunately, it was really difficult to sleep due to the heat..having to leave the fan on overnight and window open meant too noisy and too hot.
The place is in desperate need of air con retro fit.
No staff around at reception to complain to so we left early morning.
- ryanmZ4497YY (10/5): 100% recommend - The blonde on reception I think her name was Emma. was very friendly and polite nothing was to much to ask especially when we arrived late an were trying to find food that late.i would definitely stay there again if I’m ever back up that way!
- Mads2015 (2/5): Not like it used to be. - The windows didn’t open in the room and the air conditioning wasn’t working properly
so the room was very stuffy. The curtains had holes in them so in the morning light was shining through them and breakfast was a mess from getting told they didn’t have a table when half of them were empty to waiting ages to order and receive the food.
- P82aul (10/5): Highly Recommend - Great place to stay if you are in the area. Free parking, modern updated Premier Inn with all the nice finishes. Very comfy bed, great shower, room have plenty of space
- Emmaxx12 (10/5): Short stay - Staff were very friendly and professional, nothing was too much for them, rooms were cleaned to perfection couldn’t ask for any more would definitely recommend and stay here again
- FrazerTh (10/5): Classic Premier Inn experience - Does exactly what you need for a pit stop - clean, convenient, comfy beds, decent breakfast. Room was warm with no air con, but you can't have everything!
- JaSaPa (2/5): Not good - Thick dust on skirting in room, damage to skirting in bathroom - all very off putting. Paid for a meal deal but was charged full price for the dinner. Family room had no AC so had to open window, very loud all night as room was right next to a 6 lane motorway. Overall, disappointing, expected much better from a Premier Inn
- andrewlG1893NA (10/5): Yorkshireman - Reception staff were lovely.
The young lady on reception was dealing with another guest but as soon as they were free they welcomed me to the hotel.
The room was lovely. It had been a hot day but the room was nice and cool.
Everywhere was spotless.
- Dal1970 (6/5): Watch out for Parking Charges - No flexibility! - We stayed for 3 nights. On arrival we were told the parking tablet in reception was not working and to give them the vehicle registration and they would register for us.
I now have 3 parking tickets @ £100 each!
Not expected and something we will bear in mind if we stay again
