Guest Reviews
- modupeb122 (10/5): Comfortable stay - This was a lovely stay, it was clean and comfortable and the staff was lovely and helpful. Shout out to the receptionist and housekeeping team. Well done guys
- nicollvalerie147 (10/5): A Perfect Experience at A Premium Inn - Both my arrival and departure at this property were smooth and fuss-free.
The parking was ample and the property easy to locate. The staff (at the front desk) were extremely helpful and patient and gave me an excellent room. The room was very clean, the bathroom a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable. All in all, a great experience. I will be back. Thank you.
- leverjacqui (4/5): Needs refurbishment - A run down Premier Inn. I have stayed at many including other in the area and will avoid this one until it is refurbished.
Broken light switches beside the bed and a broken light bulb, TV not working. It was reported to the hotel.
We ate breakfast at the restaurant next door and you could see the tide of dirt on the fabric chairs, they had clearly not been cleaned for years.
- shanekA3356IL (8/5): Good stay, friendly staff - Lovely welcome by a very friendly member of staff called Cath … free biscuits and a welcoming conversation… room was acceptable but a little tired as is the hotel as a whole, however towels and sheets were fresh and clean.
- joy53mike (10/5): Would reccommend - Great stay, Good location and car park, Very good food at Beefeater next door,
Lloyd was amazing from when we arrived, He was friendly and went to so much trouble to help us when we had difficulty with the TV, He really added to the enjoyment of our stay, It was very clean and comfortable,
- D1997D (10/5): Lovely - Amazing Premier Inn staff, Tara and Jess were phenomenal from the get go. Great location, lovely facilities and great parking.
- Twirlee (6/5): Cracked tile in bathroom - I recently stayed overnight with my daughter and found the staff to be very friendly and overall had a comfortable night and great breakfast.
However, having checked in and entering the bathroom, there was a severely cracked tile under the sink which was protruding and could have caused an injury. The receptionist was apologetic and gave us another room, which was not as nice, but still comfy.
This was rather frustrating, as Unfortunately for the hotel, we stayed last year, and experienced a faulty sink panel in the bathroom which fell off and landed on my daughters foot while she was brushing her teeth!
The staff were all very nice but it was disappointing to stay once more with yet another unacceptable bathroom issue.
- Stay06207864942 (8/5): Premier Inn overnight stay - Only reason for not giving 4 stars is the lack of TV entertainment in the room and the guide wasn't giving all the info. I have tried plugging my device into your HDMI but nothing happens. Other than that it was a good night's stay.
- shheze (8/5): Quiet comfortable night - Stayed here for one night. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Only one towel for two people. No drinking glasses. Tea and coffee were minimal and barely any liquid soap. Was nice and quiet for the evening, I think this would be an issue if not in an even number room though. Noisy traffic in the morning as shoppers driving to the shops right next to you so I don’t think ideal in warmer weather when you would like a window open. Premier inn sign was covered in green mould on the building outside.
- Safari02984090089 (10/5): Thank you Gill! - Gill was very kind, friendly and helpful during our stay, can't thank her enough. Hotel was clean, comfortable and warm.
- 820darrenn (6/5): Good but could be better - Rooms good size and clean. Breakfast was ok and good service from lady who worked in there. Only gripe really is that for the 2nd time in 2 visits to a premier inn the reception have been seemingly shocked and put out by the fact we had paid for early check-in. Tutted at told that is wasn't guaranteed and was from 11am even though it was 11.45 already! Experienced exactly the same at a previous Premier Inn earlier this year so would suggest that if a company runs a service it should get more organised in dealing with this
- 105sueo (8/5): Good location, do not rely on early check in!! - Good location off A1. Free parking out front and more spaces round the back. Building work going on when we were there. McDonalds and Greggs close by for food options. Wish had known this before paying for breakfast. Really small counter for breakfast and can imagine how busy this is before 9am. Receptionst seemed put out we had paid for early check in and didnt have a room ready for us as had been busy days before......
Managed to sort one in the end but dont offer 11am check in unless you can guarantee it. Room was clean and looked like had been recently refurbished.
- Jac_Mally (6/5): Premiere Inn - Newport Wales, Disappointing. - Not a great experience. The hotel is very tired, dirty carpets/seats in the restaurant, with out of order mens toilet, and encouraged to use the disabled toilet which was filthy. Room bed was flat and soft, pillows had seen better days, flat could do with a refresh. No hot water in the bathroom, only tepid, the shower tap moves from its fitting when turned on, the shower curtain doesn't fit over the bath, the shower water power is lacking. Staff looked tired, working until midnight Saturday and in for breakfast at 6am, not much sleep for the staff. Dirty (7) cups in the breakfast area, cold breakfast, dry bread. Staff were very nice but the entire place is dirty and tired, not hygenic in places and certainly not as advertised on television. Disappointed and less likely to stay with Premier Inns in the future.
- Dream551547 (8/5): Great receptionist named Cath - The hotel was clean and the room was lovely. The receptionist Cath couldn't do enough for us, and made our experience even better.
- K6949VAanner (10/5): Great stay - would definitely stay here again. - Stayed here recently and had a really good experience. The room was clean and comfy, the bed was super cozy, and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. The location was easy to get to and there was loads of parking, which made things simple. Great breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant. Overall, a relaxed and pleasant stay.
- jfkGloucester (8/5): Convenient place to explore area - Best premier inn I have stayed in, the room excellent apart from no cold water to drink ran it for ages and still warm. Lots of sockets, shower excellent.
Breakfast could be better too much cooked too early, eggs rock hard and rubbery, ordered poached each day. I suggest cooking less people don't mind waiting.
Staff lovely
- ceesndimunnik (10/5): Lovely stay, home from home - A really lovely place to stay, very comfortable beds, clean, and very obliging staff especially one member called Nicky Partridge who went out of her way to make our stay extra special.
Thank you for a lovely stay 😊
- T6806ARjamesd (10/5): Excellent stay - We had an excellent stay at this Premier Inn. The room was spotless & lovely and quiet. The staff were very friendly & helpful
- dominicwJ5360AK (10/5): One of the best premier inns I’ve stayed in - Staff were incredible super speedy check in the room was in immaculate condition we felt right at home no questions were to much bother for the staff will definitely be staying again
- l0u222 (10/5): Well wortg the price - Easy access to the main A30
Clean and tidy, welcoming at reception.
Room clean and tidy.
Breakfast cooked to order which ment very fresh and delicious. Well worth the money. Stay every time in Cornwall.
- ADRIANA (4/5): - As fotos são antigas e o hotel está datado. Precisa de renovação e reforma. Não tem elevador.
- Z8358MNalans (10/5): Really pleased we chose Premier Inns - Really central yet amazingly quiet location in Cornwall just off the A30. Located in a shopping village it benefits from M&S, Boots, TKMax, Starbucks, and 24hr McDonalds as well as a well equipped 24hr Shell fuel station amongst the outlets within 100m of the hotel.
A very friendly atmosphere made all the more appealing by a room that was both clean and well appointed with an en-suite shower and bathroom.
- Tamsin_JB (10/5): Good value, very happy with our experience - Location was perfect for us en route to North Northumberland. Premiere room was excellent with everything we needed and a welcome, good quality, chocolate treat and coffee machine. Beds and pillows both comfortable and a great shower / bathroom. Plenty of plug sockets plus USBs and a phone charge pad. Breakfast was extensive - loads of choice and plenty of it.
- 744kbo (10/5): Staff Were Amazing and the rooms excellent - We booked 3 double rooms and a family room, the 3 double rooms were very clean, everything you needed in them, very comfortable beds especially the queen size ones, tea, coffee etc supplied in the room, we had to ask for decafe which wasn't a problem, staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly especially Lloyd what a star you are. The tv worked, internet a little slow, rooms quite warm but we kept the window open, blackout curtains did their job, bathroom brilliant, towels supplied, love a bath, nice to have the option of both shower and bath, absolutely brilliant stay, the family room on the ground floor looked like it could have been updated like the rest of them, free extra tea, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate etc at recpetion. Nothing was too much for the staff, would definately recommend to go here. Beefeater opposite perfect for evening meals and breakfasts, what more could you want? We booked for the Cardiff half marathon which the family were running in, perfect. Thank you for making our stay memorable. Gonna miss you Lloyd.
- A9518UZcraiga (10/5): April/May 2025 - I stayed here for work related purposes in April and May earlier this year, the service I received from all the staff who I encountered was overly positive and I couldn’t of asked for more, thank you once again.
- 163gerhardj (2/5): Xenophobic and homophobic - Terrible treatment from the time we arrived to when we left! Will never ever go back.
The male receptionist is xenophobic and homophobic and made my partner and i feel extremely anxious and uncomfortable!
Put a massive damper on the birthday celebration so much so that we spent as little time there as possible. Also no air con and the fan provided was very load and the shower curtain was old and dirty.
- andybF636YB (10/5): Brilliant - Everyone very nice and very helpful.
Rooms very clean accommodated me for everything I required. The Breakfast is excellent
- loweschloe (10/5): Lovely clean hotel with nice staff - Lovely clean hotel and the staff were really friendly. The restaurant was closed but plenty of places near by to go for food, drinks etc.
- KerryS76 (4/5): Just ok for a quick stop. - Came here staying for just 2 nights as a base for visiting family.
Got here an hour early and asked if we were able to check in early but was told it would be £15 so chose to visit nearby shops.
When we got into the room it was nice and big, bathroom was clean and a good size.
Only 1 bedside table so had to pull the chair over to the other. There is just 1 usb port on each side of the bed, no plug sockets. The only plug sockets are on the other side of the room and there is a total of 3 sockets 2 of which occupied with the hair dryer and a lamp.
No shaver point in the bathroom.
We noticed a funny smell in the room which we thought would disappear but it didn’t, it smelt musty and a bit like cigars. We spoke to reception who gave us a bottle of air freshener, this worked for a few minutes but the smell lingered and smelt quite chemically. It kept waking me up. The 2nd day we were out all day so left the window open so it could air out, but when we came back 8 hours later the room still smelt really musty and chemically.
Staff were nice but wouldn’t stay here again, will stay at quintrell downs as we never had this issue there
- D7317FHmichaelr (2/5): not the best night - normally stay at this site but this time was a nightmare, room above sound like they where tap dancing all night and not told in advance the pub/ restaurant was closed for re-furb so had to travel to another pub for a evening meal
- 964JohnH (6/5): Frqddon premier inn a30 - On arrival the check in was ok but could have been better as the 2 people at the desk would rather talk to each other it seemed.
So i let this go as they seemed like nice people.
We then went to our room and found it looking like it needed a bit of updating.
Ie the toilet basin cracked and broken ,dents in the walls ,and mould inbetween the tiles in the bathroom.
Maybe abetter maintenance schedule needed here?
We then went next door to the restaurant which was ok the drinks was fine but the chefs need a little lesson in not overcooking foods..
I have stayed at this place several times over the years as its very handy for newquay .
I am not sure about going again now .i really did expect better.
- Navigator03867359426 (8/5): Perfect hotel close to M4 - Lovely hotel close to M4 and Cardiff . Stayed recently for work and the staff were lovely . Tara on reception was lovely sorting an issue I had as I had forgotten my charger cable and she managed to source one for me .
Would definitely stay again
- 23beanc (10/5): Helpful staff - Welcoming staff, clean room and comfortable bed. We stayed for a recent festival in Chepstow the receptionist was so helpful in giving us local information and hints and tips for parking which saved us getting stuck in the bedlam when everyone tried to leave. Thank you would defiantly use again if in the area.
- C5901KSalant (10/5): Nice friendly clean Hotel - The hotel was well situated for us it is clean and tidy with easy check-in, we had breakfast there and the two ladies who work there couldn't have been more friendly
- Bimal_Jangra (10/5): A perfect base to explore the North East - This hotel is ideally located, giving easy communications to all of the important attractions within the North East of England - it is close to all of the major roads, but nice and quiet (excellent sound proofing on the windows!) and there are plenty of amenities within easy walking distance. We stayed in one of the superior Premier Plus rooms - it's worth the extra for the fridge, the free high speed broadband, the air conditioning, and the luxurious amount of space in the room. Everything you could wish for was there, and our stay was perfect. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel wholeheartedly, and we'll be back as soon as we can! Thank you!
- Tonyharve (10/5): Friendly and welcoming - Excellent - clean with some much appreciated extra touches for the Great North Run. Friendly staff and a special shout out to Kathleen hostess in the breakfast restaurant who was simply outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble.
- N5764MKclairem (10/5): Friendly - Warm welcome from reception, quick check in and tables booked at the adjoining beefeater. Where we had a lovely evening meal.
Clean rooms and as always from premier inn comfy beds (it’s the best part) would definitely return.
- X408TKmichaelb (6/5): Squeaky floorboards! - No air-con hence room hot. Squeaky floorboards above and on corridors so difficult to sleep. Bed ironically very comfortable and breakfast excellent.
- shelleymG3301QY (2/5): dirty place - Room is so hot the smell in the life and the hole place made me feel ill we left just after midnight never again stay away people
- F8102BEsimone (8/5): Weekend away - The hotel looks very tired from the outside but once inside room was very modern and upto date although next door to a dual carriageway you could not hear anything in the room.
- crustyo (2/5): It is HOT, HOT, HOT! - I went for 4 nights with my wife and granddaughter over the August bank holiday 2025. I used to stay here back in the 90s and sadly nothing has changed buildings-wise. Back then there was a problem with noise, now the problem is HEAT. Room was 26.5°C (outside temp was 14°C) when we arrived with a fan on No. 12 maximum blow, which just moved the hot air around the room, it is NOT aircon. The window opens around 5cm, just not enough to make a difference. The room was just a sauna with a bathroom that smelt of damp and mould. The net curtains were dirty and the room was sweltering, just like a sauna. Terrible sleep due to heat, and clothes stuck to me for same reason after showering. I tried to get a change of towels and bins emptied after two days, however there was no one on reception to ask, I had to leave a note on a tourist leaflet, then saw receptionist having a chat in the corridor with a cleaner. The cleaners left two fresh towels and emptied my bin only.
I paid £331 for 4 nights, not a King's ransom, but an average of £82.75 which is far more than it was worth. The receptionist told me that all the guests complain about the heat, but it is NOT mentioned in their advertising, which I think borders on dishonesty.
I will NOT stay here again
- para1991 (4/5): Bed bugs!!!!!! - After choosing her to stay for 2 nights for a wedding a few miles down the road the location was great.
Staying as a family - 2 adults and 2 kids, one of which is autistic and the sight of bugs / spiders terrifies her.
After checking in rather late 9pm after a long drive, the kids were tired and wanted to go to bed.
Sadly - after pulling back the covers on two of the beds - could not believe not 1 but 3 bed bugs in the bed, 2 on the sheets and one on the pillow which is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel with high turn over. You can imagine how my daughter reacted to this!
After informing reception - they advised me to leave the room and find a suitable one in replacement.
Even after finding another room, we examined the whole sheets and pillows incase of finding more. It took hours to settle my daughter.
Reception stated they would refund me breakfast which I had paid for and advised me to speak to management who was available in the morning. After speaking to Jessica - the manager on that morning I left feeling frustrated and disappointed as a paying customer. She advised me they sent a colleague in to check the room soon after we left( as if to say she didn’t believe me despite showing her photos and videos) and stated they also found them in the room and advised me they have requested a team to clean the room.
I felt that refunding breakfast offered very little of an apology and ruined the stay we had for a family wedding.
- Jesshsgsus (2/5): Dirty - Dirty, dirty and dirty.
The smell in the corridor was disgusting, the room smelt of damp and i am pretty sure there were bedbugs
Breakfast next day was similar, flies over mushy fruit and smelly carpets.
- christF7992OU (10/5): Visiting family - We have stayed many times here and always enjoy the friendliness and the nice rooms. Premier plus rooms new this time and worth the extra
- 851wendaw (4/5): 3 days holiday in Cornwall - Just got back from this Premier Inn have stayed here several times over the years. It has gone down big time it looks grubby from the outside, net curtains were filthy as were the windows, mould on bottom of shower curtain only good thing was the fan in the room. The pub next door is also grubby and food is awful both places need a serious upgrade, will not be staying at this one again.
- megantX4865DH (4/5): Damp, outdated and rubbish - If you want drug wrappers along the corridor then have a good time 🥳 also a damp smell as soon as you went into the room and a spongy bathroom floor. Also as a family of 3 there was a rubbish bed. Was a sofa seat no mattress. Honestly I would avoid this place 💯
- Les111 (6/5): Sardines in a tin! - careful!! the family rooms dont seem to be as big as many other premier inn family rooms... if you need two childrens beds as well as your double you may be like sardines in a tin!!
- patanne1 (10/5): Excellent value. - Excellent staff service throughout the hotel and very friendly and helpful. Very clean throughout and the full English breakfast was well worth every penny. Would definitely stay here again.
- pab141980 (6/5): All as expected but soooo hot - All good and as expected however the room was so hot (28 degrees) which made it difficult to sleep. A fan was provided however this didn’t make a great deal of difference.
- bigbadcarole (10/5): Holiday in Northumberland - Lovely and clean. Staff were great. Breakfast brilliant even when you have an allergy. They made mine specially every day.
Good access for various castles and towns nearby.
- K4614RJchrism (10/5): Excellent from start to finish - Excellent service from the receptionist on arrival the hotel was very clean and tidy and my room and bathroom was spotless the hotel was very clean and tidy the beds were very comfy overall I give it 5* the reason being there was nothing I could complain about and i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again thank yoh
- G720JOsuet (4/5): Wouldn’t go there again ! - Very noisy . Very hot in the corridors and in the room . Bathroom dirty . Hairdryer not working . Breakfast on the second day was cold .
- footballhells (8/5): Good location for the races - We stayed here with my elderly mum a few weeks back - got checked in by a lovely lady and the Premier Plus rooms were very good ( they have been newly renovated so currently are looking their best ) - breakfast was good too with a very friendly lady in charge who made sure we all had what we needed and she genuinely seemed to care about everything she was doing which is always a plus - restaurant next door is no longer a Beefeater which is a shame and their menu was decidedly uninspiring so we walked a short way down the road to Willow Farm and had a lovely meal - would definitely stay here again as it was handy for Newcastle racecourse
- S5994WZmichaelc (10/5): Great rooms, lovely staff - Rooms are fantastic: massive comfy bed, chaise longe, desk with chair, big tv, loads of storage mirrors and lights, big oscillating fan, tea and coffee making facilities, big bathroom with bayliss and Harding toiletries, shower and bath. Awesome
- andrewhH8432XS (10/5): Fantastic Room, Location, Service and Staff - Me my wife and daughter spent me and my wife's 10th anniversary weekend break here. The location was fantastic Rooms clean and friendly staff. Special thnx goes out to Craig and Trudy on Reception who were particularly attentive to us thnx.
- Voyage51982270425 (6/5): Poor Customer Service - The hotel was in my opinion average, across the board, dated and a little untidy. On a plus side the staff were helpful, until the week after I left when I got a parking fine of £57 for the Wednesday night. I had stayed Monday to Friday and booked in for parking on screen as guided by a member of staff.
How was it possible to get a parking fine for the Wednesday?.
I of course appealed on line, and I called the hotel who were going to sort it and call me back.
After numerous calls and 2 weeks later, I received an email stating the “parking fine appeal had been successful”. No apology, no nothing.
Sorry but I won’t be using Fraddon premier Inn again.
- 223kazb (4/5): Room smelt damp - We arrived at this Premier Inn in the mid evening as we had just come off the boat from the Isles of Scilly. When we walked in the room is smelt damp and there was a dyson type air conditioner on. We nearly went back to reception to ask for another room.
We could not leave it on overnight as it was noisy. The dyson control wasnt left so we couldnt switch it back on either. This made the stay disappointing. We managed to get a parking space easily and its by McDonalds and a retail part and by the A30 so handy. Nice towels. Think it was room 20 on the end of the corridor. Would not be good for asthmatic people
- L8768WHneilg (2/5): Mouldy stay - The Hotel isn't bad as long as you don't get a room on the end. As soon as we opened the door the smell of Mould hit me in the face...when I complained all we got was a spray around the room whilst we had dinner. We did get a move for our second evening but spent most of our stay in a room which most likely should be a cleaning store room. Very disappointed would not recommend, I would say avoid and stay elsewhere.
- ruchis2014 (10/5): Family Bank Holiday Weekend - Great staff and pleasant stay..
The view are nice and really nice location
Had a good family weekend
The breakfast was good value for money
Ample Free Parking available which is a bonus point
This place is close to places like Lands End, Fistreal Beach and to retail park
Worth a drive
- Xhara71 (2/5): Hot, stuffy room, terrible nights sleep - One of the worse nights sleep I’ve ever had in a premier inn. My choice was to try and sleep in an extremely hot stuffy room or open the window (it only opens a small amount and then have a slightly cooler room but listen to the Lorry’s rumbling pass on the A30. The room came with a Dyson fan but that was of little effect. I had one of the rooms closest to the main road and as soon as I checked in mid afternoon I asked to change to one further away but was told the hotel was virtually full so there was nothing they could do.
I tend to pick premier inns as you know what standard you’re getting, I won’t pick this one ever again.
- ChamathJ (8/5): Good Stay, but Bring Your Own Water - We stayed at Premier Inn Newquay as a family of five. The front desk staff were okay — polite but not particularly welcoming. One thing to note: make sure you bring your own bottled water! The only option to buy water at the hotel was through the restaurant bar, and the prices were very expensive (charged per ml, which felt like a real rip-off). Even the restaurant staff agreed and kindly advised me to pick some up from the petrol station kiosk right next door, which worked out much cheaper.
On the bright side, breakfast the next morning was excellent. The food was well-cooked, plenty of options available, and the breakfast team were really friendly and helpful.
Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a good location. We'd stay again but would definitely come better prepared next time!
