Guest Reviews
- Marion (8/5): - La chambre impeccable mais dommage de ne pas avoir le choix entre douche ou baignoire...avons 75 ans et n allons plus dans une baignoire, trop dangereux....
- janeyShropshire (10/5): Great for the Empire Theatre or the Stadium of Light - Excellent Hotel - Stopped here for one night to go to the Empire Theatre which is literally just across the road. Room was clean and warm and staff on check-in were lovely and friendly. The car park for the hotel is not owned by the hotel and is located directly behind it. As you drive past the front of the hotel from the south take the immediate left turn. It isn't that big so if you arrive late you may need to find another such as Riverside or the Bridges. There is a code to get a slightly reduced rate just inside the door of the hotel - this reduces it to £17 for 24 hours which is more than some places but no more than elsewhere in the other car parks for overnight stay - it is what it is, and it is very close to the hotel entrance. I didn't stop for breakfast or meals so can't comment on them. There was a stand of tea, coffee etc in the foyer so you could collect more if you needed which is alway useful. Would happily stay here again if I am visiting the Empire of The Stadium of Light (which you can see from some of the windows!) Good value hotel and excellent location.
- chrisbB8815TH (10/5): Premier inn Sunbury - Very good. And no complaints so far! Well done Premier inn. All the staff are helpful, pleasant and friendly. The location is good and very busy. The rooms are very comfortable. Atmosphere is pleasant.
- 864bernardz (10/5): Good.location - Nice experience helpfull staff good location clean tidy room good cheap parking no issues super close to lots of shops x
- 578hazeld (4/5): Awful, smelly room and no staff anywhere. - I stayed in the Sunderland one, no receptionist at 4pm so used the machine to check in. Found my room, opened the door to the smell of vomit. It was freezing, I turned the heating up to 28 and went out for 4 hours. Came back at midnight, room was still freezing and honking, stayed awake shivering til I finally dropped off to sleep at 4am. Checked out in the morning, and again, no staff anywhere to be seen. Hard to justify the premium cost.
- garstonian (6/5): HOT STUFF - I had one night in room 325. The room is hotel standard in its plan. Everything you would need for one night save for a room safe maybe.
I went out in the evening to a football game and settled down straight afterwards.
I just couldn't get comfortable in the bed on my own. I found the duvet way too heavy, and hot. The pillows though were the worst. Very thin and quite hard. Uncomfortably so. Around 3am I discovered that the TV played radio channels. I switched on and this helped me to drift off to sleep. I woke at 5am too hot so decided to shower and dress and have breakfast and then catch an early train home.
Breakfast was standard but OK. I didn't touch the hot food.
Staff at check in were super. I left my phone charger in the room and it was returned to me after I sent a prepaid envelope. Thank you.
The hotel is well positioned for the town.
I would return if I found myself here again but would request a sheet as cover for the bed.
- Wander39077739161 (10/5): Good value and great location - Great stay, Friendly staff, comfortable room and good breakfast. Convenient location and as a solo traveller it felt very safe.
- okcolin (2/5): One to avoid, awful breakfast, old fashioned decor. Needs an update - One to avoid, hard to get into and get around especially if you are disabled in a wheelchair. Breakfast was awful, looked like it was hours old. Like rubber eggs, was glad to leave. Very old fashioned decor, made you feel sad.
- Mohamed (8/5): - Nice place.
- laalaa12017 (6/5): Very tired hotel - The staff were very friendly and extremely busy .
The hotel seemed tired and run down.
The room was vey dated but clean the pillows smelt and we asked for replacements but they did not seem fresh smelt very musty.
The restaurant and bar was very busy.
The staff were so organised and helpful.
The seating area in the restaurant… the coverings in the seating was split at more than one table and the foam from the seating was spilling out and looked unsightly.
- 497stewr (10/5): Comfortable stay - Nice cosy hotel, very comfortable bed, food in the Wessy was spot on too. No issues at all, would use again if in the area:)
- Q7201XCyvonnev (10/5): Very pleasant stay. - Stayed for two nights on the 4th floor. Very friendly staff. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Excellent mattress, pillows, and duvet. You could request cleaning before noon. Large plasma TV. Kettle, coffee, and tea were provided. A varied and delicious breakfast buffet. A generous checkout time, until noon. You could store your suitcases in a locked room accessible only to staff. No noise from the hallway. Ideal location near the center and highways.
- 573ogagao (10/5): Stay at Premier Inn Sunderland City Centre. - Excellent service! Many thanks to the team for a warm and friendly welcome. Special thanks to Markis and Tracey for helping out with my forgotten items.
I also appreciate the support from the kitchen staff.
- pavelbG3965GG (2/5): Avoid eating in this restaurant - Served on diner stinky meat like defrosted day before, on disgusting dirty plate. Avoid to eat in this restaurant at all cost.
- Ester (8/5): - La camera era in buone condizioni ma sopratutto lo staff è stato gentilissimo
- annej107 (10/5): We will be back. Great stay at Premier Inn Kempton Park - We always stay at Premier Inn Kempton Park when we go to visit family. The staff are lovely & always welcome us back. The food is hot & tasty. The rooms are spotless & beds really comfy. We will be back.
- 627barryt (10/5): Another great stay - Ideally located for Sunderland Empire and the Fire Station. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Have stayed here many times and will be back again soon.
- Tim0159 (10/5): Premier Inn Sunderland City Centre hotel - Well Done! - The experience of staying at Sunderland Premier Inn was a pleasant and positive one. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and smelt fresh and there was an ample supply of towers etc for each of our 2 rooms booked. Considering the hotel was near the city centre there was no noise experienced during our 2 night stay. We only had breakfast during our stay but that was always hot and freshly cooked, and we experienced no issues with the food and they catered for my wife's wheat intolerance very well.
- mattpj22891 (10/5): Perfect place to stay for a trip to Sunderland - Great location, clean and comfortable. I was in Sunderland for an engagement party and for a football match the following day, so staying right in the centre was perfect.
- 182alisonh (10/5): Excellent stay - We have just stayed here for 6 nights .we had a lovely time , room big and spacious , clean with everything you need , comfy bed .If we needed any more towels we just asked at reception and they were provided .Extra tea ,coffee ,little milks etc always available in reception on a stand .Staff were all friendly, welcoming and very helpful .It is a great base to explore the area .Plenty of free parking available .we have stayed in lots of Premier Inns all over the country so we know what we are talking about .We would definitely stay here again .we had room 22 on the ground floor .
- Mel8135 (10/5): Comfortable and great staff - What a surprising hotel tucked away off the busy main road. We booked here as we were visiting an attraction nearby and firstly the parking was exceptional. It was a multi storey attached to the hotel and with their code it was only £7 for 24 hours which is a very good rate. Checking in took about thirty seconds and we were soon in our room which was large and clean. It’s an older hotel but everywhere was spotless and the bed super comfy. We had an excellent nights sleep and despite being on a busy road the double glazing was so good that you couldn’t hear anything. We used the bar which was always staffed unlike a lot of other Premier Inns we’ve visited near London and we had a comfortable evening. We didn’t eat but the food did look good and I heard compliments from some diners. I’d definitely recommend this one and we’ll be using it again
- Y5930JMsteveh (10/5): Enjoyable experience - Warm friendly staff clean rooms excellent food a very enjoyable stay will definitely go back there I had read previous reviews seem to be a lot of controversy over the car parking. I did not find this a problem. I knew what I had to pay. No problem not worth complaining about. I was in the city centre hotel car park is a premium.
- janepR3121AU (4/5): Don’t bother with this place - I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect there will be 2 bath towels provided for 2 people, and more than 2 coffee and 2 tea sachet’s. PI think otherwise which didn’t impress me. And no, I don’t see why I should have to ask for more.
Another good reason not to use this hotel is the high pitched noise coming from something alongside the hotel, day and night. And resulting in us being unable to open the window of our stuffy room.
PI no longer a good value option for us. I’d rather support an independent business than the penny pinching PI.
Never again. PI has lost my custom.
- Hydetravellers (6/5): Good hotel, not great restaurant. - Overall experience of the room was what you expect from the Premier Inn Hotels. Nothing to complain about.
The restaurant was not up to the expected standards. The service was very slow, an hour to take an order, let alone get your food. The food was sub-par and nothing terrible, but nothing exciting either. Been to far better restaurants attached to Premier Inn's before.
The carpark was VERY tight. Perfect location and seemed very secure.
- crystalmD7219SX (6/5): Average stay avoid the evening meal - The hotels probably one of the most run down premier inns we’ve stayed in,clean but ready for a refurb.Reception staff were nice enough.Breakfast was just as you would expect. We ate in the evening and it was awful!Food wasn’t overly warm after waiting over an hour for it to arrive then they got one of our orders wrong and redid this which took another 20 minutes!Manager blamed me for not ordering correctly in the first place even though the waiter that originally took the order read it back to me!
- R3382YHdebbiep (6/5): Not the best - Not what I expected.
Room was outdated and warm even with air con on, carpet looked like it had been brushed not hoovered. Toilet paper holder had not been replenished, had to ask for more after blowing my nose.
The room was dated.
The majority of the staff were friendly, Duty Manager, female, on day of arrival was polite but very fierce not approachable. Duty Manager next day, a gent, was lovely, kind and friendly.
Not my usual chain of hotels I stay with, unfortunately will not return
- SJB448 (8/5): Close to the theatre - The hotel looks good from the outside and is very close to the theatre. The warmth of welcome was excellent and the staff were fabulous throughout our stay. The room and bathroom were spotless and the room was a good size. (Room 505 on a Saturday night) The interior of the lifts could do with a wipe over. The only problem we had was there was thumping music playing somewhere outside the hotel until 4 am and it was not pleasant! We sighed with relief and managed some sleep from then on.
- chriswA209PE (6/5): Above average - Was ok a bit shabby but good night's sleep, the pub and restaurant is half shut off but phil taylor was in there so can't be to bad
- Humblebumble007 (10/5): High cost parking - Friendly staff, tho tgey seem to be understaffed especially in the restaurant in the evening
The waitress was kept rather busy there seemed to be only rwo on duty.
They were both very pleasant tho they were busy
The only thing we are a bit disappointed with us the parking situation we stayed 3 nights and it cost us 40 odd pound.
And maneuvering inthe car park is very tight.
Only for the parking situation and cost we will try to avoid this particular hotel. I must add tgat on the morning of the last day my daughter overheard the reception telling someone that there's a reduced rate. No one mentioned this to us. Even tho they asked had we paid which we had but at the machine in the car park. So for the high cost of parking we will avoid. A shame because all staff were lovely.
- Explore44311631631 (2/5): Avoid at all costs. - Terrible experience. Phoned ahead as recently had a hip replacement. Told I could park in the disabled area. Arrived at the hotel to be told as I don’t have a blue badge unable to park. Main car park full so had to pay £26 next door. Took 40 minutes to check in as the computer was not working. Went down to get a drink at 11.30pm to be told they are not serving because there is nobody in the bar. The bar was full. Just an absolute joke.
- 19800612 (10/5): Great North Run stay…excellent! - Stayed at this premier inn last weekend for the Great North Run. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by 2 ladies, who were so friendly and this started off our weekend great! All the people we came across, from the staff in the premier inn, to other places we had visited in Newcastle were THE most friendliest people we have ever come across!
We rocked up at 1pm and were pleased to hear our rooms were ready. Car unloaded and off we went to have a dry run of my route to get to the start of the GNR for the following day. The metro was a short 10 minute (if that) walk away from the hotel.
Room was spacious, as they always are in a premier inn. The bathroom was a little dirty with remnants of some blue shower gel on a tile, but other than that, nothing to complain about in the room.
The following morning I was overwhelmed to see a table in reception, full of bottles of water, safety pins, plasters and lots of bananas (had I known they were going to do this, I wouldn’t have gone searching for a shop to buy some the previous evening!). Such a lovely touch!
My siblings ate breakfast on Sunday morning and reported to me it was delicious! (We did all eat breakfast together on Monday morning before we left and it was lovely!).
We did have dinner plans on Sunday evening elsewhere, however we had to cancel, due to the journey back from south shields taking so long. Once we got back to the Premier Inn, whilst I showered and got out of my running kit, my siblings had a drink in the bar and we were pleased that they were able to seat us so we could eat.
The food was incredible! We had a sharing platter to start and then we all chose one of the new burgers, which myself and sister couldn’t eat it all!
The staff in the restaurant were super attentive, without being annoying and in your face.
If I was going to that part of the country again (we live 7 hours away), I would definitely choose to stay here again!
You should be very proud of your staff! They all made us feel extremely welcome and made for an enjoyable stay!
As with all of my Premier Inn stay reviews I leave..the rooms could do with an upgrade of a fridge put in them! However, this will not stop me staying in a Premier Inn in the future!
- Snitchypoos (10/5): An Excellent Premier Inn - My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights whilst work was done to our home. We’ve stayed at Premier inns all over England but this is, without doubt, the best. The room was spacious and comfortable ( my wife uses a power chair and there was more than enough space to get around.) . The staff were always friendly and helpful, nothing ever appeared to be a problem to them. Food was great, the hearty ‘Premier Inn breakfast’ never disappointed, as a blue badge holder we always managed to get a disabled parking bay, which were monitored by staff at reception.
All things considered, this is an excellent Premier Inn
- simonwilliampizzey (6/5): Good Hotel On A Budget - My family and I love Premier Inn, as you always know what you get with your stay (A clean room, comfortable beds, a good location, kind staff & great breakfast).
We have had many overnight stays this year and were looking to keep this one night visit under a core budget. This was not one of the best Premier Inn’s I have stayed in, but it was probably the cheapest (certainly in the area).
The reception staff provided the usual friendly & helpful service, which was excellent.
The location of the hotel, whilst in a central position, was not the nicest. The room was not as clean as other Premier Inn’s and the overall decor was tired.
We did not go for the breakfast as we were leaving early, so could not comment.
A good location for a cheap stay, but it would not be my first choice.
- 819kenp (6/5): A different budget hotel experience - Not my usual choice of budget accommodation but Premier inn does the hope in terms of facilities snd price. What else is there to say about a budget hotel!!!
- 957dexterj (10/5): Great - Very great I lost my phone in my room and a lovely lady found it she was very friendly also the other woman that checked me in
- HK84HK (6/5): Decent - You know exactly what you are getting from Premier Inn, this location is no different. Good location if visiting Legoland, Chessington or Thorpe. Breakfast is good, gets busy af 9am. Car park is super tight. Rooms for what you are paying are great
- X7812YZmarcj (10/5): Excellent stay. - Had a great stay here. Check in was quick, easy and U was greeted by a friendly receptionist. My room was clean and tidy and contained everything I required. The bed was comfy too. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. This is my second time at this hotel in the last three months and I'll certainly be staying again in the future.
- Maps579181 (10/5): Very good stay at Premier Inn, Sunderland - The reception ladynwas professional and courteous. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. I had a good night sleep and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good.
- N3341LFsamanthaa (2/5): atrocious - the service was atrocious very slow we been sat in restaurant for 30 min before our order was taken we asked if everything on the menu was available whi h we were told it was they then came back to us 25 min later to tell us they were unavailable we waited an hour and are starters still hadn't arrived there was no one seving at the bar so we couldn't even get a drink while we waited so in the e d when we finally flagged down the 1 and only sever we cancelled our order and went else where
when we left in the morning we booked 2 breakfasts which I told them we no longer wanted could I get a refund to which they were rude to us and very unhelpful telling us how we were to get the money refunded
- grantsI1016SJ (10/5): Lovely comfy room good a/c slept like a baby.j - Lovely room though take a proper phone charger as there are no usb sockets.
Parking is very tight in the multi story but i managed and car was secure.
- D1208DZlouiseb (10/5): Warm friendly North East welcome - Really clean, amazingly friendly welcome. Knowledgeable local staff. Housekeeping staff were friendly. We stay at Premier Inn hotels lots all over the country and this was by far the most positive experience for a very long time. The staff in the South should be sent up here to see how true warm hospitality is done.
- Cookie3443 (8/5): Overall a good stay - The Premier Inn Kempton Park is a pleasant place to stay. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and we had a decent view from our room as we could see Hyperia over at Thorpe park.
Breakfast was good. Only downside is the car park which was tinny and I don't mean not many spots I mean it was hard to manoeuvre in there.
- christinesH9916VX (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent service and staff. Good location. All staff professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Gave advice about the area and other areas nearby. Brewers Fayre professional and friendly but do need more staff to avoid queues for food and drinks.
- Basher0007 (10/5): Our visit - Visiting family. The service from the staff from checking in to checking out was fabulously with staff only too helpful to offer help, guidance and being available and on hand. The room service were always on hand (if needed) for room cleaning, bathroom replacement ect. The restaurant staff were always helpful and the food piping hot (thanks chef) and always cleanly set out. The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for guests and rounded off a fabulous stay. Thank you.
- andrewgA4095KG (10/5): Helpful staff and wonderful bed - Really helpful staff. Location, Bed, Bathroom (we always try to stay at PI's with a bath), and Room were superb. We chose this PI because it does not have air conditioning. (We don't like air-con in, because we can't open the windows).
Car park gets a bit crowded, but plenty of space just next door at restaurant, so if you don't mind walking an extra 30 metres or so, it's no problem. We'd stay here again on our way up north.
- 103alanj (10/5): Great Premier Inn - Great friendly staff especially Rachel nothing was too much trouble. Always with a smile. Standard premier Inn room good as always.
- darrylw704 (10/5): Amazing - Great stay at this hotel, staff very friendly and professional . Room were clean would recommend as close to Thorpe park
- ssJ6807VR (10/5): Overnight stay for theatre visit. - Comfy bed, clean bathroom, friendly staff and decent price, what's not to love? Perfect location for the Empire theatre and the Bridges shopping centre.
- CarsonMac (10/5): Good central location - We were greeted by a friendly staff member Ryan on the front desk when we checked in. He was very helpful with sorting the discount code for the car park. Room was a decent size and clean, your usual premier inn affair. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and replenished lots. Shout out to the lady working Monday morning breakfast (sorry didn't get your name)
And to the people moaning about the price of parking, it is displayed on the premier inn website when you book for all to see!
- darrenpH7639MQ (10/5): Great experience, definitely recommended. - A very positive experience overall. The room was clean and well stocked and very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located in a fantastic position, very close to the city centre, the Empire theatre and plenty of bars and restaurants.
- Dustytables (8/5): Good hotel; expensive parking. - The staff were outstanding.
All friendly and helpful.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms were large, clean and adequate.
A fridge might have been expected.
The location is good but the car park VERY expensive; also I only found the discount code on the second day. It was not exactly displayed prominently.
I will stay there again.
- darylo452 (2/5): Now, the worst hotel in the chain - This hotel has to be now by far the worst in the Premier chain.
I really don’t understand that it used to be the best hotel. Me and my family had been staying there for years sometimes twice a year. However, it has gone so far downhill that Premier Inn should really just sell the hotel. It is such a shame to see what’s happened to this hotel. There is barely any staff now we were there three nights this time me and my family and even the coffee machine in the restaurant wasn’t working. You had to use little Nescafe sachets which was absolutely disgusting. If you want your room cleaning you have to ask, I never saw any housekeeping staff whatsoever for the whole three days that I was there.
You get one hand towel, and a medium towel in your bathroom now? My brother’s room sleeps three people, and even he only got one hand towel and one medium towel? Where is the logic in this and don’t give me eco friendly nonsense .
- davidsY9724MZ (10/5): Sunderland perfect - Perfect place to stay value for money. Kids leisure provided.
Large parking and good resraurant. The staff is really nice across the board.
- Cranes19 (10/5): Lovely overnight stay - We stayed for the night with our two young children and enjoyed our stay. Friendly receptionist in arrival who checked us in. The gesture of a pack of biscuits went down well with the kids. Room was clean, light and beds were comfy. Plenty of eateries nearby for dinner. We decided to have breakfast in the morning but was a little disappointed in the food. Car park was great having access from inside the hotel and felt like car was secure. Hotel was generally clean and would stay again
- 247WendyD (8/5): We would certainly advise staying at Premier Inn Sunbury - We have used Premier inn at Sunbury many times for Business - It's a long trip from Yorkshire but I must admit that this particular Premier Inn ticks all the best points for a weary couple of travellers. It is always a pleasure to stay at this Hotel.
- Luke-n-LauraB (6/5): Nice place to stay - You always know what to expect with premier inn and this is no different really. Central location with some shops nearby, parking available at a discount cost but as noted in other reviews, it is a super tight car park so breathe in! The rooms are the usual, well maintained with the usual amenities, tidy and clean with lifts to the upper floors. The lifts are pretty cool, looking out over the area, unfortunately the premier inn roof top could do with a bit of love to spruce it up a bit. The major let down for us was the restaurant. We had a booking and were ignored for a good 5 minutes standing there while the waitress finished doing some maths that I am pretty sure could have waited until after seating us? Then we waited another eternity to be served. The place was pretty empty but it still seemed too much to deal with, one of our order was missing the onion rings that should have come with it, 15 minutes later, still nowhere to be seen despite being promised they were on their way. Half hour later, still nothing, 45 minutes later after all the rest of the meal was finished we were promised they would be with us soon. Its not a huge deal but it was poorly dealt with and I very much doubt they're being made from fresh! It is what is it is, and didn't detract from being a decent place to stay if you're in the area, just maybe consider alternative places to eat!
- kelis9574 (10/5): Excellent staff ! - Read the reviews before booking. This wasn’t the most convenient place for me but the reviews about friendly front desk staff made this my choice - as a single female travelling for work it’s important to feel safe. Rachael on reception from check-in until her shift finished at 10pm was fantastic. She even made a point of saying hello at breakfast the following morning when she wasn’t working. Location is actually very good. 10 minutes to the beach was perfect in a heatwave ! Will definitely make this my first choice when I come back for work.
- debbiehK7027KN (10/5): Great service - Clean & comfortable, excellent food & great customer service. The restaurant food was lovely but the service was so good. Friendly & seemed to want to make sure we had a good experience. Seemed to care.
- Nomad34353072268 (10/5): Television - As always a fantastic experience service and comfort, only one problem, the television didn’t work, normally my husband and I like curling up in front of the television, but could not get a signal, not sure if it’s the area but we always got a signal before xx
- alexandracatherine88 (10/5): Brilliant for families - Comfortable, clean and amazing staff. Breakfast was fab. Second time staying.
Staff solved a minor hiccough efficiently and with kindness.
- carolbD9458BN (10/5): Lovely welcome, good night's sleep. - Lovely welcome at Reception, thank you, Rachael. Comfortable, clean room with plenty of space. We had such a good night's sleep that we left a bit later than planned!
- michelletP2817XZ (8/5): Great value - Great hotel very easy to find and just off the main road. Happily go back. So much nearby but you need to be able to drive. Comfy bed. The hotel staff were lovely.
Restaurant is fab value for money but not all the staff were as friendly they could learn form the hotel staff, which was a shame. Maybe a bit lack of staff at times and the soft play wasn’t manned for the majority of the time we were in there.
