Guest Reviews
- U6725DBelizabethc (10/5): Fab modern hotel in excellent location on Trentham estate - We visited this hotel for a Christmas shopping weekend and had a fabulous time. The rooms have had a make- over since we last visited and were very modern. Ours had a fantastic bathroom with walk-in shower. The hotel is situated on the Trentham estate, and we were able to walk to the shopping village, garden centre and winter light trail within a few moments.
Buffet breakfast the next morning was great, with plenty of food options, regularly replenished, one of our better premier inn experiences.
There is also a great feee car park.
We love this hotel and look forward to our return,
- jaynes2022 (6/5): Upsetting - The premier inn was clean . The room we stayed in was on the ground floor facing the road behind the trees but it was still noisy which can’t be helped . We decided to pay for breakfast as we was stopping over night . Oh my god wish we hadn’t now . We was told the table over there by the pillar After a while I just moved as both me and hubby are tall and we was very cramped. I went to get a cooked breakfast it was baked up and most of it was slopped on the counter. The toaster kept burning the toast in the we had a cup of tea and left and had are breakfast in the shopping village . I was really upset about
- Dee5 (10/5): Perfect overnight stay - Booked early checkin room ready on time. The rooms are spacious, clean warm and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee facility good in the room. Breakfast next door at the hungry horse was perfect. Would definitely stay again
- jakeH163 (8/5): Convenient, quiet, great staff. - Convenient location, free parking, quiet, friendly staff. Stayed in the Annex which overlooks the car park which helped with keeping an eye on the car. 5 mins down a hill to the town centre. We ate in The White Lion in town due to the poor reviews of the adjacent Hungry Horse. Recommend this hotel for a short stay on the area. Uber to Cheadle cost 11 quid but other cheaper options available.
- wendyanddavidbateson (10/5): Fantastic friendly hotel - Great staff, Laura and Tory are a great double act. Clean room and the breakfast was really good, would recommend this hotel.
- Z2623BPwaynek (10/5): Real stress free stay and free parking - I stayed 4 nights with 4 work colleagues , we all had breakfast every day and enjoyed it . Would have been even better if restaurant was open at time of our stay but hey ho , staff gave us some nearby eating places to try and we enjoyed them , staff was Laura and Tory really helpful and friendly big thankyou. We are back next week and looking forward to it.
- 457karla (6/5): Mixed feelings - The premier inn plus rooms were very nice.
No complaints here at all.
What I did find very disappointing were the staff. Customer service was very poor. Especially those taking care of the bar / restaurant. So slow , not a care in the world.
2 male staff were awful. Might as well call one KitKat as he was always on a break. The other ET as he looked like he wanted to go home.
Even when I finished breakfast in the morning no one said good bye even from reception. I understand this is a budget hotel but cmon you can do better.
- Daydream47333916013 (4/5): Very poor - No hot food. Which was the main reason to go. Wasn't even told. Only upon walking to the room did I learn the kitchen was closed.
Very poor.
- H329VUdarrens (2/5): Avoid this hotel unless you don't want to eat - 1 night stay in the annexe, room 47. Disgusting smell inside the lobby of the annexe as a fast food takeaway box had been thrown on the floor with chips and nuggets all over the carpet. When i mentioned this at check the very nice member of staff explained to me that the night porters were not allowed to cross the car park and check on the annexe for "safety reasons". Don't get me started on the Hungry Horse restaurant next door that the Premier Inn sends its customers to for Breakfast and if you choose Dinner also. This restaurant is a complete mess & shamble. Had to twice send back a cheese burger as it was cremated and as a hard as a discus. Chef cant even cook a burger! Had to wait 40 minutes for this abomination and i was one of a number of customers who were forever chasing up where their food was. Bench seats you sit on are wearing through, carpet was grubby and the whole place seemed like no one from Greene King hierarchy cares about how the restaurant looks as they wouldn't allow it to get into this state. premier Inn should disassociate itself away from the restaurant next door as it ruins the stay. Staff are lovely at the Premier Inn by the way.
- L2333GEjamesm (10/5): Quick trip working away, usually stay at Premier inns however this one stood out thanks to Ali! Would stay again - would definitely recommend! Ali is extremely helpful and professional at her job. Its always nice to see someone so cheerful and made my stay a lot more enjoyable! Cheers Ali
- H9761QTsarahj (10/5): Brilliant 🙌 - Really enjoyed our stay, drove up from Kent to a nice clean, large family room, looked like a premier plus room which we didn’t book, room 14, the kids loved it, including the purple light in the bathroom, the location was perfect, free parking, shops right outside at Trentham Gardens, a huge garden centre, restaurants. We had nice breakfasts, help yourself buffet, kids ate free, staff were good, All in all we had a great stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Phil_Langdale (8/5): Very Nice - Check in was good, car park plenty of spaces, room was clean and bed comfortable as expected at this.hotel chain.
Unfortunately this time I visited the brewers fayre pub attached to the hotel was undergoing renovations so there was no bar or food in the day.
- Gergul9 (10/5): Great staff-great stay - Love Premier Inns and this was our first stay here and it is now one of our favourites. From the lovely, warm welcome to the clean and quiet room, lovely cooked breakfast in a nice setting and a great location, only a few minutes walk from the town centre........perfect. Will definitely be staying here again.
- andylB2586UA (10/5): Great place to stay - Stayed a few rimes now staff great , leanne and kirsty are always bery pleasant and professional and nothing is to much trouble
- jamesfW3254YA (10/5): very satisfying - stay here alot . great location nice n peaceful. staff are nice helpful and polite! the manager very helpful! well recommended. nice breakfast also👌
- Marty1448 (10/5): Visit to Stoke - Perfect location for our visit to Stoke for my son's wedding. Next the retail park and gardens at Thentham. Accommodation was comfortable and food & drink was very nice.
- siphoenix (10/5): Brilliant staff!! - We're actually still here but I felt that I needed to write a review straight away.
We're staying over for 2 nights and I know that you can't go wrong with a Premier Inn but what makes this place stand out has to be the staff. The gentleman who checked us in made us feel welcome right away. A very funny man. The lady who I saw cleaning one of the rooms this morning had a lovely attitude and a very cheery "Good morning"
Obviously, it's a Premier Inn so it's clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything that you need.
We will definitely stay here again.
- Road644091 (2/5): Three nights without a shower. - I stay in a lot of Premier Inns for business and holidays. I usually have a decent experience.
This week, Preston Farm was a disaster. Two nights in a room with a broken shower. The next in a room with cold water only. Glad to have a warm shower on the 4th evening.
- jacksong595 (10/5): Excellent stay - Really enjoyed our stay with this premier inn as I’ve had a few bad experiences with other stays at other locations rooms spotless and bed very enjoyable to sleep on,breakfast was a joy although it was very busy Taylor and Chloe handled it very well will definitely be staying again.
Would definitely recommend more staff with it being so busy.
- stephaniehL3147RP (10/5): Family friendly - Lovely staff making our long weekend very enjoyable.
Great breakfast and comfortable stay.
Fantastic value for money,
- 344neile (10/5): Best premier inn we've stayed in - Stayed for the circus and had a Lovely spacious family room. Clean and modern. Easy to park. Breakfast was good value, just need another coffee machine to avoid ques. We will definitely return if we can have the same room again. Very memorable
- clairo828 (10/5): Super great staff. Would recommend staying here. - Room was super clean. Staff were so so lovely and friendly. They were so accommodating and happy to help me with my inquiries as I took my girls to Plouise which wasn’t too far from here. The free parking was a plus as well. Overall a great stay would definitely stay again if the opportunity comes.
- suepE535PN (10/5): Best Premier Inn stay - Best Premier Inn I have stayed in. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was lovely and set my daughter and I up for the day.
Great location near outlet shops and the Trentham Monkey Forest.
- 525RyanM (10/5): Warm and friendly - Fantastic stay in a warm comfortable room.A shout out to Tory and Laura for checking us in early and being very friendly .
- 221do (4/5): Dropping standards - The sheets rarely fit the bed and the duvets are too heavy and not very clean.
The shower curtain was too short for the bath
Carpets still have debris on them.
At the time of booking this hotel it was not mentioned that the restaurant was closed!
On a brighter note, the cooked breakfast was good and the staff were friendly
- Relax16548073504 (4/5): Hotel good, food bad - Premier staff were very friendly and helpful. We are at the thyme bar and grill which was terrible. I think my wings were deep fried for 30minutes too long, salad had been kept under a hot plate so had wilted. Wont be eating at the thyme again
- mhalomari (10/5): Recommended for Families - We had a nice stay, and a lovely breakfast. The kids loved it, and it was an amazing service provided by Tyler at the breafast.
- geoffchandler06 (10/5): Good stay - Hi stayed here again for a family get together Was really good as usual rooms very good and clean. Our stay was made even better by the manager Leanne who couldn’t do enough for us Will come again
- robertkE2450FS (10/5): Great value - Excellent stay very comfortable beds
Really lovely breakfast
Loads of choices and tasty food
Service by staff was really good too
- nicholaslW78DT (10/5): Absolutely cannot fault this Premier Inn - Absolutely cannot fault this Premier Inn. The reception staff are most welcoming and were very helpful to my wife and I when we needed local knowledge of the area for supermarkets and petrol stations. Nothing was any trouble to them. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well facilitated. The parking facilities are perfect, lots of space and close to the reception. My wife and I had to leave earlier than expected on the day we departed, due to needing to catch an earlier ferry crossing from Scotland, so we couldn't have breakfast. We had paid for this when booking, but it was no trouble for the reception staff to reimburse us with the money for the breakfast. For the price we paid for our stay this just couldn't be beaten. Thanks to all at PI Preston Farm.
- jackierI360GA (10/5): Close enough to walk into town, comfortable enough to sleep like a top - Don't confuse the Hungry Horse restaurant reviews with the Premier Inn; they are not related. Poles apart. Premier Inn where the welcome was so nice, friendly and the guy was amusing. I could have stayed there laughing. He made sure we had our free parking pass as residents. We stayed in the annexe. Very secure as you need your pass to get in. Extra tea/coffee/sugar/milk there in case you needed to top up. Our room, number 34, was very clean and well maintained - a little bit of wear but what hotel hasn't? Shower easy to use and turn to correct heat. Shower/hair wash (take your own conditioner), handwash at basin. No shower cap, just saying in case you need to cover your head. Two bath sheets, one hand towel, one floor towel. Hairdryer in room and nice glass mugs for tea and coffee. Bed and pillows SO comfortable! And quiet. We got back from a party around midnight on a Saturday. No noise whatsoever. USB port and plenty of sockets. Thank you Premier Inn; one to be proud of.
- wilsonmrslindsayw (10/5): The Inn is great but stay away from the Restaurant. - Our stay at the Premier Inn was very good. The room was quiet and warm. I did not hear one plane. The beds were very comfy but we could have used a bigger wardrobe. Plenty of towels, tea bags and milk. You only had to call down at reception and pick up extra supplies. The thing that let it down was the attached restaurant Hungry Horse. What a disaster. We tried it once and then decided to pop down to the town for further breakfasts. Much cheaper. The room was cleaned every day, you just had to mention it before leaving reception. All the staff cheerful and pleasant.
- M58HFleons (10/5): Great premier lnn - One of the gems of premier inn, very friendly staff was there in the weekend. Everything 10 out of 10. Absolutely fantastic premier Inn. Also had breakfast was lovely with friendly staff again.
- Q5118KEsophiet (10/5): comfortable bed, lovely staff, parking available for guests - a clean room with a comfortable bed. lovely, helpful staff, and parking available for guests.
check in was quick and easy, as was checkout. overall highly recommend.
- 834iainb (10/5): Quick visit to Trentham - Great location for what we wanted; to visit the wonderful Trentham Gardens. Hotel was busy without being crowded and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed our stay. Shopping village next to the FREE car park and a Blue Diamond garden centre as well, couldn't have been better.
- OnAir02479515866 (10/5): Excellent place to stay with great staff - Really friendly and helpful staff in a great location. The room is clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Breakfast was very good, and there is a restaurant next door serving meals during the day and in the evening. Plenty of free car parking and a bus stop just outside the hotel.
- johndX3864TW (10/5): Fantastic - As usual i really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, and the Staff are amazing especially Leanne who had to prompt me to pay for my whisky after i had a few.. :)
I love staying here and the rooms are amazing and had a view over the bowling green etc this time..
Thank you to everyone of the staff and hope to see you all again soon.. maybe for the Christmas light.
- mariansC9627HK (10/5): Family vudit - Friendly helpful staff, lovely comfortable room. Good sound proofing as near busy road. Had a lovely relaxed stay whist visitng family. Would stay there again
- X1736BCamandal (10/5): All good - special mention for Marjorie! - Decided to stay here to break up the journey back home from Dublin as I was feeling tired. Everything was good but have to give a special mention to Marjorie who is an absolute star. Breakfast was busy, but Marjorie was very friendly and super efficient - a real asset to Premier Inn
- sheilah428 (10/5): Stop over - Lovely location very friendly staff excellent atmosphere and food great location to visit trentham gardens very good with allergies
- debrawD160NC (10/5): Very helpful staff - Wonderful staff who are very helpful . Large selection of food , happy to cook fresh eggs and accommodate our needs.
Very impressed with the cleanliness and organisation. Thank you
- Nomad813249 (6/5): Room fine. Restaurant poor. - The hotel room was what I expect from a Premier Inn. Comfy bed, decent size. Shower was fine. Sink tap flow pretty low for some reason. What really knocked the score down for me was the food, which is provided by the Hungry Horse next door. Pretty tired looking restaurant and several items missing from breakfast: no yoghurts, peanut butter or fruit salad. “Hot water” for teas wasn’t hot. Sausages and tomatoes a bit overcooked. Definitely not up to the standard of the previous couple of Premier Inns I’ve stayed in. Wouldn’t stay there again.
- sandralH99XX (10/5): Very good value - Spacious, clean family room.
All Reception and breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was very good with lots of choice.
Will definitely stay again.
- B7298AXstevep (6/5): Clean, good staff, good food, very nosey traffic - Lovely hotel with usual premier Inn standard, clean, excellent staff, good food etc. the disappointing thing is location, the hotel backs onto a very busy dual carriage way. As a result the traffic noise is very loud. Adding to this being a problem there is no air conditioning so our room was a pleasant 22 degrees which over time becomes quite stiffling. In summary you have a 50/50 chance of being on the wing side of the hotel although I haven't been on the other side yet but it must be quieter than this.
- dellac458 (8/5): Very good for family stay. - Booked through website. Reasonable price. This hotel is set by the wonderful Trentham gardens and on the site of restaurants and designer shops so a lovely ‘holiday’ type/ special atmosphere around. Check in easy with Kirsty to help/made sure my room was near to my 88 yr old father who needed an accessible room (this included a lower bed/ alarm button by bed/ walk in shower with seat etc). Had the meal deal so 2 courses and a drink for £16 as we had booked breakfast. Food enjoyable with good choices ( think the Thai curry could have had more to it Eg a Naan/chutney as looked a bit sparse compared with other meals). Rooms very clean and larger than I was expecting. Bed very comfortable and choice of harder or softer pillows. Curtains shut out light effectively. We all slept very well, Breakfast good choice/ enjoyable. Member of staff who stood out is Kirsty - very good manner, explained options with food very clearly and went out of her way to meet our needs. My daughter had difficulty using the normal Internet ( can pay for better apparently- we didn’t as only there one night) All in all if we are visiting this area again we will be coming back to stay here again.
- TheMiniReviewer (10/5): Amazing! Leanne is wondeful - Out of all the Premier Inn’s me and my family have been to, this one has by far been the best.
Disclaimer : bear in mind I am 10 years old.
I am absolutely amazed at how beautiful this hotel is located and the staff are kind. Upon arrival, I felt a bit sick as I hadn’t eaten anything for lunch, my mum asked a lady called Leanne for a plain biscuit to make me feel a bit better, Leanne was so understanding and kind and gave a few biscuits, now I’m not saying I like Leanne because of the biscuits but because she was so kind and lovely and had a smile on her face. Just the attitude to have.
My favourite restaurant is premier inns own one,Thyme. This particular thyme was great, the food tasted DELICIOUS! I ordered a grilled chicken burger , beans and salad and the burger was by far, best burger I have ever had.
Breakfast was nice aswell.
The rooms are beautiful, clean and welcoming. My room had a purple light feature in the bathroom which was great for calming baths etc. I loved the LED light in the actual room.
Overall, I would definitely return, but not very likely as I live in Kent, 4 hours away from this hotel.
Note: manager, please give Leanne a mention as she is so wonderful and the nicest staff member I encountered. Please make her aware she is a STAR!!!
- stuartmH3227NE (2/5): Abysmal Customer Service - About as poor as Customer Service goes. Finally managed to check in after the receptionist could be bothered to serve me. Didn't bother to look at me and preferred to talk to her mate behind reception whilst passing the odd remark such as "Sign this","car reg" etc. My room key was thrown on the desk. I worked out where the lift and room was as she was too busy telling her mate how she had cold legs and continued her conversation. Lots of complaints from people saying it was taking an age to get a drink and most left to go elsewhere. Some days your luck is just plain out - Went to Dinner and got the same person serving me ! Ordered a drink, never arrived, mentioned it three times until it eventually appeared. No food order taken, as waitress was in the Kitchen never to be seen. Eventually appeared and said "Have you been served? Obviously I hadn't. Placed my order. Waited and just been presented with 2 printouts of orders to be asked "which one of these is yours?". Stayed in many many hotels and never been asked that before. Good news as I type ! My drink has just arrived. Wahoo, not so good news it was thrust onto the table without a word being spoken. Can't wait to see firstly if my main course arrives at all and secondly if it does how it will be served, I'm guessing I will have to catch it.
Joking aside, this really is a whole new level of abysmal Customer Service. I know Premier Inn are a large organisation and do other struggle for bookings and as such won't care about bad reviews but there will be far greater competition in the future in this price bracket and if Premier Inn think this level of Customer Service is acceptable then just maybe their Customers will have gone elsewhere in the meantime.
I would also like to point out that this is the second time I have stayed here and the first time the Customer Service was also poor. It just happened to be the only place available in the vicinity at short notice hence the booking this time. I won't make the mistake a third time. Maybe employing a competent manager who can hire suitable staff is a starting point.
Thank you
- J299YYgemmas (10/5): Great service - Charlie, Emily and Jamie, where great hosts, friendly and helpful throught my stay. Answered queries with great knowledge and advice, amazing customer service and with a smile.
- ChiefClaret (8/5): Lovely room but too hot - Clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom.
Only minus was the air conditioning didn't work and the window only slightly opened
- elliott191201 (10/5): Fab Stay - …………………..Visiting family up North. Fantastic stay - love the breakfast. Good location to Eaglecliff/Yarm…………………………..
- N6099BWianw (4/5): Very Poor Stay - Shocking experience at breakfast time, drinks machine broken and always running out of food items, embarrassing at times, one guy walked out after waiting for an egg for 10 minutes, he was a contractor and had to start work at a certain time else he would be in trouble. Would not stay there again I’m afraid and the pub next door was no better, staff were scruffy and not that friendly to be honest. Very Poor and I love a Premier Inn
- B7791OEmargaretp (10/5): Happy customers - Rooms clean staff were lovely and polite. The breakfast Debbie the waitress was so polite and friendly. The breakfast was amazing best I've in years everything was cooked perfectly thank you Andy the chef. We will be coming back 😀
- N2093XUjamest (10/5): Helpful and Friendly - Stayed for the entire month of July and staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Rooms were regularly cleaned and breakfast in the morning was great.
- carolet686 (10/5): Great place to stay for business and leisure. - I had to visit Stockport on family business, and stayed every week from April to the end of July. It was great to know that I could request the same room for each visit. I had familiarity and continuity to help me settle at the end of the day. The staff were friendly and professional. The bed was comfortable, and the walk-in shower was excellent. That this hotel also has a lift is great news. The location is close to the Market Hall and the historic Underbank, making it a good base when exploring the town. There is plenty of free parking too.
- Tourist32271750817 (4/5): poor staffing and breakfast - The bed, shower and room was very nice.
extremely let down by the lack of staff at breakfast and that it took an hour to get our cooked breakfast. Each breakfast came out at different times ( long periods between each). This has put us off staying again.
- W7777LLfaizaa (10/5): Very spacious family rooms - We having going to primier inn for quite few years now, it's very ideal for my Son who has got autisim he totally loves it, the staff are amazing at the primier in stockport central very friendly and help, I be back there again with family because this is primier inn wee like nice and quiet lovely location where my children feel very comfortable. Pg and Stephen are great at reception and others too.
- L4083BUtonyp (10/5): Great Service - Just a great experience. Went to see Oasis at Heaton Park and stayed here for 2 nights. Exceptional from everyone from booking in.... meals.... and leaving. Great job guys.
- U6526BAkarenl (8/5): Good location, Spacious family rooms - We had difficulty finding the hotel as there are two postcodes online. We ended up in an office block car park down the road but with the help,of a friendly local we found our way. Use the pub name (The Old Rectory) for navigation. On arrival we were very happy with the car parking. There was loads of space. We were travelling as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 &6 and we were allocated a family room in the annex. It was basic but massive. We were really surprised by the space. Both children had their own bed and even with three beds in the room there was lots of space. It was 30 degrees or more during our stay but the location of the room and the fact that it had three windows which could be left open meant it was comfortable. We were also provided with a fan. We were provided with towels and a kettle. The only items we missed were flannels. The restaurant is in a separate building in the on-site pub. The food is basic pub food. We enjoyed what we had and felt it was value for money. It was very quiet at night and we slept very well. The hot breakfast was freshly cooked and well made. The continental offering would benefit from a coffee machine, and some fresh fruit salad. Staff were really friendly, and we felt very welcome. The grounds are lovely, especially the beer garden and conservatory in the restaurant but the whole hotel feels a little tired and needs some basic maintenance e.g. paint touch ups here and there, grass cutting, weeding and conservatory windows cleaned, cleaning down the steps towards the town to show it off to its full potential. This is a budget hotel, which offers good value in a great town location. We had never visited Stockport before and loved the Saturday market and the quaintness of the town. We would stay again.
- JeremiahEcks (10/5): Perfect. Simply, Perfect. - We arrived quite late cycling up a huge hill to get to the Stockport Premier Inn as part of the Trans-Pennine Trail. Getting there was a pain but when we did we were greeted by friendly staff and a lovely premises. And we were exhausted.
As is the case with all Premier Inns, you can store your bike in your room so we did. The rooms were flawless. Spotless. Comfortable beds. Everything was absolutely great.
In the morning we came down for breakfast and were surprised by the huge, expansive breakfast area. Whilst the food and drink was standard fare by Premier Inn, the area was... well... stunning quite honestly.
Of the four places our party stayed on the Trans-Pennine Trail, we all agreed this was the best of all four. Definitely worth a visit and definitely cyclist friendly.
- craigelvisthurlow (4/5): Cooked breakfast with No bacon & no eggs? - Stayed for 4 nights, room was great, parking was good, however, on the Saturday morning we thought we'd try the 'all you can eat' breakfast buffet for £10.99 each., & it was disappointing, no bacon & no eggs, despite being told that we would have to wait 5 minutes on two seperate occasions, neither was available to us for half hour. I complained twice to the receptionist, who promised to do a refund 'later', but no refund was received.
Not good.
