Guest Reviews
- Freedom628372 (10/5): Lovely evening in the bar at Premier Inn - We spent an evening here after visiting the Winchester Christmas Market. We had a lovely evening in the restaurant, looked after by Shanon/Raj and Bushra - thank you very much for the detail of your service, and for laughing at our conversations (sorry Shanon) you guys are a great team, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you. We were planning to head into the town later in the evening, but we were so relaxed, we stayed in the bar! Lovely day/night away.
- M4744UVjana (8/5): Cold room - Only really bad part was a cold room. Very uncomfortable. Food was good and room was clean. Staff were polite and friendly
- Cwtsch (8/5): Acceptable Premier Inn - Stayed here following a disappointing stay in Salisbury.
No issues here- room was clean and as expected for a Premier Inn.
Service in the restaurant was satisfactory and the food was ok. This is why it's a 4 and not a 5.
Should be able to pay parking in reception- the car park was dark upon arrival a we could not find the machine. Needed to go back to the car park after check in to register the car. A minor issue but nonetheless worth mentioning.
- N3052XXchrisb (4/5): Same old Premier Inn - Yet again Premier Inn continues to get worse and worse. I always spare a thought for the team. They are always rushed off their feet and there are never enough of them. My stay at PI Winchester was no exception. Most of the team were nice but they were ran ragged. Over the last decade every Premier Inn I’ve stayed at has had less staff and it’s so clear how far away they’ve moved from caring about the guest and providing great service.
- 837nihadg (2/5): Absolutely horrendous, I hope I never have to go through it again! - Stayed there with the group of 8, there was just one disappointment after the other but in short, they tell you on the phone parking is free for guests - it isn't. I asked the lady at the reception if the breakfast was included in the rate, she said it was - it wasn't. And here I am now, three weeks after, still chasing for the invoices they were meant to go to my e-mail but, you guessed it, they haven't.
- michellejS3677RY (10/5): Great hotel - Lovely clean hotel, plenty of car parking and the evening meal was lovely and good value. Efficient check in and check out service too.
- jeanar2013 (6/5): Premier Inn good , restaurant not - No problem with the actual Premier Inn , very comfortable and quiet . I can't say the same for the restaurant next door !
Waited ages for our meals then.got our starters and mains delivered all together ! When I queried this . I was told that's what I had asked for
I did not ,and the starter was cold . My sirloin steak was overcooked when I had asked for medium . Nobody came to the table to ask if our meal was ok . I got up to find the manager who did apologise and only said that they would make sure all was ok at breakfast ! Hard not to do when it is self service ! Will.not be back !
- ancoma2018 (10/5): Great stay - Excellent stay with my son to visit family and friends . Wifi could of been much better, but everything else was great, clean and spotless, staff friendly and helpful, in the hotel and in the eating area. We will be back. One thing I would say is the price of the breakfast could very lower
- peterdD8549EN (4/5): Disappointed at Wigan Premier Inn - This Premier Inn looks modern from the outside and we were not too surprised to find screen check ins, however it was disappointing that the technology didn't work and even the staff when called struggled to get room cards that would work, these needed changed again during our stay. On entering the room it felt cold and unwelcoming, the heating was turned up but it didn't work. Visit to reception - heating turned up from staff computer, after two hours the room was stifling hot so another visit to reception (no opening windows). This process was repeated most days of our five day stay. The room had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and felt well worn. The hairdryer didn't work, positively dangerous - glowing red! The replacement only worked occasionally. The room was not cleaned unless we asked at reception each day - towels didn't dry because the heating was mostly off so unless you repeatedly asked for a room clean or replacement towels you had had to put up with wet towels after your morning shower. Breakfast was poor compared with other recent Premier Inn visits. Staff, with a few exceptions, seemed unhappy in their work with few able to raise a smile. Only one lift was working most days and the other did not give any confidence operationally.
- christy20140 (8/5): Good base for Winchester city. - The hotel was excellent in every respect; quiet room, very good bathroom, comfortable bed and hearty breakfast, but 2 minor niggles.
1. I couldn’t check in until after dark arriving by train. Not knowing where it was I set out walking. The route isn’t easy with a meandering footpath across streams, etc. If anyone is doing the same, the number 2 bus passes the door.
2. The USB socket for phone recharging was dead.
- Jet66943869869 (10/5): Brilliant stay - First impressions the staff were very polite and made checking in really easy, the room was spotless and the provided tea and coffee was a great extra. Being able to manually control the heating or the room was brilliant as I'm someone that is always cold and made me alot more comfortable. Check out was super easy. All in all brilliant experience
- Atrueaussie (8/5): Premier Inn Wigan - Great location especially just off the M6 but far enough away not to be effected by motorway traffic. Room was adequate for my needs. But decoration including the carpet is looking tired and could do with renewing very soon.
- elliebobs2016 (6/5): Disappointing - Requires Revamp - Booked a Premier Inn plus room as stayed at this hotel a few times. Staff were helpful on arrival, some staff came across as miserable. The room itself was clean and tidy, although only set up for one person to arrive, needed more towels, coffee etc. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was tiny, hardly room to move about. The Shower cubicle on the outside of the door was disgusting, rust and mould. Felt dirty. The hairdryer in the room was cracked/broken - health & safety issue!! The evening meal and breakfast were ok, although the menu options have been reduced. Car Parking charges now in operation. Small car parking spaces, that small when we went to leave, some idiot had blocked our drivers door, unable to open!! Overall hotel needs a good revamp, wouldn't book a Premier Plus again, well definitely not at that location. Value for money - NO! Premier Inn you need to do better.
- soot404 (8/5): The staff were "gluten aware" and made sure I had a tasty and healthy breakfast, for which I am very grateful. - Our room was very quiet, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had everything we needed except Wi-Fi. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful. I can't eat gluten so they provided me with a sealed packet of GF muesli, which was very nice, and even made me some GF toast in the toaster that they keep in the kitchen just for GF products.
- SimonJKent (4/5): Poor example of a Premier Inn - A budget level hotel at a high price. - Some Premier Inns are excellent value for money & are welcoming - sadly this isn't one of them. Overall it seems run down and in urgent need of a refurb.
My room was dingy and there wasn't even a mobile signal (tbf not their fault) never mind there is free Wi-Fi. However In my room and also at reception was less than 1mb. I could pay to upgrade to "Ultimate Wi-Fi" - which offered around 8mb - Ultimate is a poor description. The bar / restaurant was ok, but I was served a short measure of beer and it was on the flat side.
Although the room was dingy the bed was comfortable. The included tea / coffee in the room was of poor quality.
Breakfast was of poor quality with overcooked fried eggs and poor quality bacon. To be fair the sausages were tasty. Staff were generally pretty good & friendly. Come on Premier Inn , you can do better
- eastvand2020 (10/5): Excellent staff and accommodations - I really enjoyed my experience at this location the staff for excellent super friendly and accommodating to my needs I would stay there again next time I'm back in the UK
- chrisbI3890OH (10/5): Good location. - A nice, clean hotel with good food, friendly staff, an excellent location, and great value for money. Lift to all floors made access easier.
- Global03317612096 (8/5): I would go back. - Noisy air dryer in the toilet underneath my room and a long wait for food in the evening. But had a nice welcome. Staff were very helpful. Hotel was clean. Good car parking facilities.
- oneandonlypgc (8/5): Excellent Staff and Comfort, Shocking Internet - The room was impeccably clean, the staff were genuinely helpful with warm smiles and positive attitudes throughout, and the mattress was absolutely excellent. The shower pressure was spot-on, and the large screen, good quality TV was perfect for unwinding.
However, the broadband situation is scandalous. The free wifi is unbearably slow, and the paid option barely improves things. It's almost unusable during peak times, something I've never experienced even in budget hotels across Asia, Africa, or Australia. In an age where connectivity is essential, failing to meet the UK's legal minimum broadband standards (10 Mbps) is simply unacceptable.
Fix the internet issue and this would be an outstanding stay. As it stands, it's a frustrating compromise between physical comfort and digital connectivity.
- samanthasB4213NP (4/5): Not great - Not a great stay.
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable the cleanliness of the room was not great from blankets of cobwebs to hairs in the bathroom. we didn’t have a hot drink the whole stay due to the kettle being dirty. And they don't accommodate for 3 children unless one is a baby and can go in a cot which in previous years we have had the cot put in and my baby wouldn't sleep in it as it had no mattress and was very hard.
- warriors09 (10/5): OVERNIGHT STAY - Overnight stay here before a cruise. Lift to all floors which was very helpful. Room good with comfy bed. Evening meal in restaurant was excellent. Car-park - paid a small fee. A long walk downhill to the town and cathedral - not 10 mins as advertised !
- P6422CZalisone (10/5): Special mention for Jackie...(member of staff) - We really enjoyed our stay here. As always with Premier Inn, our room was clean and comfortable. We slept very well. The staff were really helpful. A special mention for Jackie, she was delightful and very professional. Jackie helped us with our check in. At breakfast Jackie was again, very polite and very friendly and is a credit to the hotel. Other members of staff, were equally pleasant, and we'd like to thank them all for making our stay memorable.
- A441IIjimc (6/5): Ridiculous duvets=Poor night's sleep - Very accessible from motorway. Adequate parking. Good welcome at reception. Room was clean and tidy and air conditioning was quiet and effective. The stay was spoilt by the ridiculously high tog duvet, which is totally unsuitable for the end of summer, which made it impossible to sleep well.
- abbeyc875 (10/5): Perfect Venue, Perfect Rooms - Hosted my sisters baby shower here and will definitely be using this venue again for further functions. We had the full restaurant to ourselves as it’s closed for service during the daytime. The staff let me know when breakfast was finished and allowed me in to decorate beforehand. A couple of family members stayed over as they don’t live near and they said they would definitely be back. Room clean and modern, breakfast brilliant and plenty of it. Unfortunately I didn’t get pictures of the latter as I live locally. Such a shame this venue isn’t used more for functions during the day time. Thank you to the staff (especially Will) for helping make a memorable day x
- Babsy222 (4/5): No thank you - The heating made noises, the meal was really awful and half of it was missing, breakfast was no better. I was travelling with a child and no one really lifted a finger until a guest went and fetched someone so we could check in, the carpet in the room was filthy, need I go on? Very understaffed. But still, awful.
- Sightseer50401547100 (4/5): Bad experience from the moment we entered the door - We are a Norwegian couple mid 6o ies farily competent in both English and computers but here we met our match
At arrival we tried to check in but the reception consisted of a big flat screen and no people. We pushed a button for help and a man appeared from a rear room. We asked for help and he pointed at the flat screen and disappeared behind a door.
We tried several attempts but the system didn’t allow me to put in my postal code since it wasn’t English. We stepped aside and another couple tried the machine but with the same result. They needed too buzz for help, the same man appeared and he helped them.
We did our last attempt with no result so we had to buzz for help again, we explained that since we wasn’t able to get any help from him and that we didn’t understand the machine we had to find another hotel.
The man then told us to calm down and not being rude….But he finally did admit that it wasn’t too easy for a foreigner to get registered so he reluctantly helped us.
Premier inn sent me prior to arrival at least 5 emails about breakfast offers. We hadn’t ordered breakfast and that was a wise choice.
On Sunday we had to eat at the hotel since the local bakery was closed.
For 10,5 punds or 9,5 pounds we could choose between Continental or full breakfast.
The full breakfast was as expected, several fried fatty thing too choose from but the continental breakfast was a insult.
Bread to make toast
Several types of jam and other breadspreads in portion packages
Youghurt
Cereals
No vegetables no cheese no ham or other sliced food
Our suggestion is to save the money and eat another place if at all possible.
The pluss side is that the rooms were ok for the price and since we had a room facing the parking on the rear and not the street in front the rooms were very quiet.
All in all it is a fairly cheap hotel but some of the staff should realise they are there for the guests, no guests no hotel, no job.
- pavelbG3965GG (2/5): Short on breakfast - My company paid me bed and breakfast. I stay in this hotel 08/09 (Monday to Tuesday) of September. When I visited restaurant in the morning, staff told me I am not on list. I asked later another staff member; you are not on list. Not any booking check, I do understand sometimes mistakes happens, I don’t want to understand lack of willingness to double check for mistakes. Guest Room 7.
- ChrisFarrington (8/5): Great Hotel, Shame about the Breakfast. - Off on a short 3 day cruise, so to make it a proper break we added a few days ahead of the cruise.
The first stop was Premier Inn, Winchester. First time at this hotel and like all Premier Inn it didn't disappoint.
Didn't take the early check-in as wasn't sure on arrival time. So we parked up early and walked into Town. It's not really convenient placed for town as its a good 20/25 min walk and in places the path are narrow and badly lit.
But back at the hotel, we got room 331 (Premier Plus room), it was very nice. Great large bed, super powerful shower. Plenty of plug sockets, and USB charging sockets as well. Decent Fridge as well.
Little concerned as the room was next to the cleaners cupboard, so we were worried that it would be noisy when the cleaners arrived but no it was super quiet at all times.
Now the one downside and sadly that was Breakfast, I knew there was a reason why I've stopped booking breakfast, it's simply worth nowhere near the £10.95 cost. Very poor quality, to start with: hot plates would have been a good idea, the food was well over cooked, the Juice (apple) very poor quality, hardly any pastries available. The Tea/Coffee wasn't bad. The only reason we booked breakfast was because the hotel is too far from town, sorry but not making that mistake again.
Staff were very friendly.
So at £64 for a Premier Inn room it was superb value, Hint: always pay the slight extra cost and take a Premier Plus room, they are far superior to the normal rooms.
I can't think of any reason we wouldn't return to this one if we were in the Area.
- AdrianJones91 (6/5): Usual Premier Inn, some good, some not so good. - Firstly, we stay regularly at Premier Inns up and down the country.
Apart from the dreadful one in Weymouth, on the front, we would return to them all. Bude and Lewisham being the stand out ones.
Good points:
Probably the most comfortable bed we've had for a long time.
Fantastic service
Enjoyable breakfast, well presented
Bad points:
Usual poor Wi-fi and useless air conditioning. This is the same at every PI we've stayed in and been going on for years.
Non stop radio blaring out from morning to night. Never experienced this before, is it for customers or staff?
Again like all PI we use it is in urgent need of re-carpeting and decorating
Check in not working - another common problem
Communal toilets in need of a SERIOUS deep clean. NOT acceptable
Location may be a little arduous for some, especially if you go in to town a couple of times day. There is a fairly steep journey back. Uber works, about £4 to £5.
- janetbP2991CI (4/5): Hotel dirty and worn out - Check in ludicrous - The communal areas especially the entrance stairway to reception and reception itself were dirty, required maintenance and more thorough cleaning. The staircase felt unsafe and spongy and had been repaired in one section with black gaffer tape. The glass doors to reception were filthy with hand prints and greasy marks. Reception had out of order self checkin machine and the area was very tired, requiring a full makeover.
Checking in was a joke (same as last year when we attended). As previously stated the self check in machine was out of order (as it was 1 yr ago) and there was just one staff member checking in a vast queue at 3pm which stretched out into the life lobby! Check in was tremendously slowwwwww. We stood in the queue for 30 mins. This really needs looking at. There should be two staff doing check in at busy periods - its not rocket science!
Overall hotel does not give a great first impression
- P7609RKrachelg (8/5): Pretty Darn Good - Staff were lovely, room was clean and comfortable. Only minor issue was how warm the rooms got at night, but it was more than made up for by how well kept everything was.
- MoiraA71 (10/5): Wonderful time in Wigan - Stayed here for a weekend to visit friends. The hotel is in a perfect location, a 10 minute walk from both train stations. Again it’s a less than 10minute walk to all the local amenities. The hotel staff were very welcoming and there was always someone available no matter the time. Will definitely go back.
- Sunshine795473 (6/5): Busy busy busy Winchester premier inn - Great place to stay if you're cruising from Southampton or Portsmouth, interesting city and surrounding area. Car parking F.O.C, bed super comfy but bedroom very warm so took quilt out. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked, so even though we booked for two nights, A) nowhere near enough staff to clean rooms, so didn't clean or tidy ours ours as they didn't have time, changeovers took priority, fair enough, but I twice reported leaking toilet but was never fixed, even though the young lady who I think was manager tried but failed to fix it, but credit to her for having a go. Didn't eat there, went for a Turkish in town 1st night and Tesco around the corner 2nd night
- gabyz412 (10/5): Ticked all boxes! - Had a great stay with my family in one of your family rooms, beds were super comfortable and loved the cleanliness of the place. Really enjoyed the breakfast!
- C2405SQgregw (10/5): Great trip - A premier inn never disappoints. This could have been bad though with a power cut and water outage both of which were outside of the control of the hotel, but they handled everything very well. The only disappointment from the trip was the greedy snd over zealous Hull Rugby league supporters who very selfishly completely over indulged themselves with ridiculously huge breakfast portion sizes, leaving slim pickings for others who had paid for breakfast. I know it's all you can eat guys, but one plate at a time out of respect for others . But again the staff handled this extremely well and did their absolute best to keep other guests happy.
- Joel_JD (6/5): Fine for a stopover - Fine for a stopover. Rooms are exactly what you will expect for a Premier Inn, although average size, we’ve stayed in bigger Premier Inn rooms. Service was welcoming. The dining area was a bit unclean, chairs, tables felt sticky. Parking was OK, mostly under cover, not expensive, spaces are a bit on the narrow side. Location is very good, 3 minutes drive to a Tesco Extra, and 25 minutes from city centre.
- johndY4011WQ (4/5): First bad experience with Premier Inn (stayed at half a dozen around UK) - Fairly clean and quiet but stray hairs in bathroom and almost no toilet paper and shower get. Food poor and overpriced. But appreciate service staff are probably on min wage.
- emileedavies2 (10/5): A real star of premier inn! - From the second we walked in, Danny made us feel like old friends rather than just guests. He had that perfect mix of warmth, humour, and efficiency that instantly puts you at ease. Whether it was recommending the best nearby food and drink spots, sorting out little details in the room, or simply checking in with a friendly smile, nothing was too much trouble.
It’s rare to meet someone who clearly loves what they do – and it shows. Our stay was comfortable, but Danny made it memorable. Give this person a raise – they’re a credit to Premier Inn! I’ll be back again :)
- 837kayshas (10/5): Clean, friendly & handy. - Really friendly staff; impressive, clean and comfortable rooms with all the facilities you'd need; very close to where we needed to be (right off the M6 and near Haydock Park). Breakfast times and the food were great too.
- mariegO2698FH (10/5): Lovely mid week gwt away !!!! - Fantastic stay in the premier inn, Wigan town centre, lovely team members nothing was toooo much trouble, can not wait to return
- NormanH109 (10/5): One of the best Premier Inns credit to the Staff - The staff at this premier inn go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Special shout out to Will on reception who took the time to search for post codes for places of interest. Also Tracey, Sarah & Emma were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A girl who was on reception the 3rd & 4th of August (can’t remember her name) made us feel so welcome and went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Also the staff at the adjoining restaurant were so helpful knowing my wife had a dairy intolerance. The two young lads that were serving (probably students) are a credit to the company. I hope these staff are made aware of the praise they so rightly deserve.
- H3100NQpaula (10/5): Amazing stay - Excellent stay, 10/10. Can't fault this hotel. Every stay I have is fantastic. Staff, rooms cleanliness top class. Special thanks to will, Victoria and Tracey, and all of the housekeeping team
- 351milliet (8/5): Great affordable hotel for Stationeryfest/Journalfest attendees! - I stayed here in order to be close to the Edge Conference Centre, where I was attending Stationeryfest for two days. All in all I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights due to flights from Copenhagen.
The hotel was recommended by the organizer of the event and I agree, this was good value for money. We did wanted to be in walking distance and spend our money at stationeryfest and not blow it all on hotel costs.
The hotel is nothing fancy but I have seen some truly bad hotels in London, so I was impressed with this UK hotel. What sort of room one can get outside London for less money.
They do not have someone man the reception at all hours, you have to knock on the staff door to get someone to come out and talk to you but staff is friendly and helpful. There is a lift for you which is a plus. I have been in London hotels that do not even if you are on the fifth floor.
The room itself was not a shoebox and since I was there with an IG friend I had never met before in real life, I appreciated that we did not have to live on top of each other but had some space to ourselves. The staff had pulled the double bed in to two beds! We had plenty of room for suitcases and our personal items, both in the room itself and in the bathroom.
The only bad things were really these:
1. I did not have an electrical outlet on my side of the bed which was bad because I needed to charge my phone at night and my tooth brush during the day. My friend could lay in bed and look at her phone and post on IG while charging her phone over by her window bed, but I had to get out of bed every time I needed to look at my phone and my alarm woke her up since I could not get to it quick enough to turn it off. So she was forced to wake at the same time as me.
2. I totally hated wiping myself with Kleenex. That is what is used for toilet paper in a lot of UK places now and as a woman, I do not appreciate getting pee or poop on my fingers because this Kleenex paper they use is too thin and the little squares too small to make in to a wad. I used oodles the first day and hated this system so I was forced to get to the shopping centre as soon as I could and buy proper toilet rolls for my five day stay!
3. The doorless closet is too short for dresses to be hung up so the newly ironed dresses could not hang straight and I ended up going to the event looking wrinkled which was alright I guess, but a little of a nuisance when I wanted to look my best.
4. My friend was drying her hair every day and she hated standing in the hall drying it by a poorly lit mirror that we also had to use to apply make up by. If you are a man who will use an electric razor or you are a woman who wants to dry your hair with a hair dryer, there are no electrical outlets in the bathrooms, so hall it is.
5. Our first night, after the event, we were exhausted. It had been hot at the Edge with no AC, we had walked with heavy things we had bought and all we wanted was to sit down and have a pizza at the hotel, which actually have a restaurant. But… despite the restaurant having tons of tables and only one table had occupants, we were told that there would be a 20 minute wait for a table because they only have one chef. We felt that the waitress did not really want us there, so we left and our little group of women had to head out again, around the corner and order take out pizzas at Papa Joe’s. We were invited to eat them in one girl’s room since she had a three bed room all to herself. So there we sat all of us on the beds, eating out of boxes when it was not really what we had wanted to do. But I guess it was a fun experience. It did turn us totally off the hotel restaurant though.
I do not know if they only have one chef on Friday evenings and more staff other nights? But we did not even bother finding out the other nights since the negative vibes on the Friday turned us off to the restaurant in general.
- B4869VHjulieh (8/5): Good stay, staff exceptional - Good 2 night stay, would stay there again. Staff are amazing, nothing too much trouble, friendly and super helpful. Building itself is a little tired looking, but soft closing doors and a fan in the room was much appreciated. Plenty of parking, including disabled spaces. Bathroom a decent size and a great shower. Bed was very comfortable and bedroom functional but clean and lots of cupboard space. Didn't hear any noise at night. Great that replenishments of tea and coffee were readily available all the time from reception - help yourself to them. Small niggles that would make the stay even better - no tooth mugs in the room, therefore had to use the same mugs as for our tea and coffee. No decaf tea or coffee although there was herbal tea options. Towels were not soft, rather hard and scratchy. Breakfast in the next door restaurant was a bit hit n miss, not busy, but food was slow to be replenished and some food was not very hot.
- 99bethant (10/5): Excellent - I went to this premier inn a couple of weeks ago, and had a really good experience. The room was super clean and check in was really easy. I always want a couple extra towels and one of the members of staff called Danny was super helpful got me the towels straight away and was very helpful and friendly throughout my stay. His service was simply great and will be returning!
- jamiesS6253DC (10/5): The BEST staff - Recently stayed here with friends while attending the Billie Eilish concert in Manchester, the room was clean and tidy for us arriving, the very good looking guy at reception (I think his name was Danny) was so lovely and was able to help us out with all our questions, going above and beyond helping us out with where we could get a nearby train from to Manchester. Every time we seen him he was so friendly and always so smiley. Will definitely book this place again!
- shelbysF5662AH (10/5): - Had a lovely stay at premier inn, staff were very friendly and so helpful! In particular Danny who was amazing, room was spotless and food and service very good!
- hannahmE6967PY (10/5): - I had a fantastic stay at premier inn last month. Room was spotless and the staff are outstanding especially Danny who gave us such a warm welcome and was so helpful answering all our questions.
- trevorp325 (6/5): - Being a company and having staff stop there for 9 nights I would expect the rooms to be cleaned and towels changed regularly without asking. We work outside in a dusty dirty environment and also work long hours leaving at 6 in the morning and arriving back around 6pm and would not expect to have to try and find staff to request a clean of the room or towels to be replaced. I would have thought with health and hygiene laws this should be mandatory for anyone stopping more than one night without having to request this
- 190Craig (2/5): All round bad experience - Very limited parking.
Check in was appalling very under staffed.
Room wasn’t ready on arrival.
Chaos in reception area.
When got in room everything was acceptable just about, not very clean.
Bar and restaurant closed and no offer of water while waiting for the room.
- Y569YUlaurac (2/5): Would never use again - Room was grotty, tired, not clean
I would not stay again. I have cancelled future stay at a different premier inn as a result. Not what I expected. The bed was comfy. Shower hot. But really uncomfortable being in the room. Felt so unclean. I suspect the cleaning staff are under huge pressure to work quickly
- 514daven (10/5): Excellent - Stayed for a couple of nights and was not disappointed. Good location. Just off motorway and easy access to Wigan and then the surrounding area. Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was in pub next door and was excellent. Staff were helpful.
- stevefQ6831AG (10/5): Great service - The hotel is a perfect location for business and the approach of staff from check in was exceptional. The team were very knowledgeable about the local area and able to advise on suitable places to visit
I use premier inn frequently and the service from a mid range hotel puts larger chains to shame most often
A great place to stay
- clairelF1013MZ (10/5): Staff went above and beyond - Claire and the team went above and beyond to make our stay special.
Had an awful start after arriving late Victoria was lovely checking us in and telling us to leave our bags and run next door to get a drink, only to be told he had shut the bar (10 minutes earlier than advertised)
Victoria was fantastic and tried to find a drink for some of our party.
Will was brilliant on Thursday and going above and beyond for the 81 year old in our party and then on checkout offering to assist with loading the car/taking bags outside.
Finally Claire was amazing throughout our stay. Always time to chat about our day and the surprises we had for the 60th birthday we had during our stay, even arranging a card and beers for the room.
After our disappointment in the pub next door on our arrival night they did redeem themselves with a couple of friendly staff.
Thanks again to Claire, Will and Victoria. From an ex hotel reception manager you don’t have it easy and you are an asset to Premier Inn
- F4918YWalis (10/5): Best beds! - Drove down from Scotland to visit family in the area, hotel is a good location to their house. Rooms & beds are always clean & comfortable.
Friendly staff!
I have premier inn pillows & duvet at home, they are so comfy and feels like I'm in my own bed!
- davidpX4176LC (10/5): Perfect - Fabulous stay in wigan. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. Very friendly welcome and even though yiu automatically don't get a service ( which is explained) when I did request it was done very promptly. Rooms are clean and tidy and like the fact you can open a window. Brewers fayre was a nice little restaurant for my evening meal
- johnrX4255JL (6/5): Hotel is fine, avoid the restaurant! - Whilst the premier inn itself was fine, clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful this hotel is let down by the Brewers Fayre restaurant next door. The food in the evening was ok but the service was poor, the toilets were a horror story and the place has the atmosphere of a bus depot. As for breakfast I would recommend you give it a miss, the “hot” food was all literally stone cold served on cold plates and the bread was stale. Only one coffee machine meant long queues to get a drink. Well below the usual standard of a Premier inn breakfast and not Premier at all!
- H3100NQpaula (10/5): Amazing staff and hotel. - Fantastic hotel, service amazing, rooms are 10 out of 10, cleanliness is excellent. Just to name a few staff.. Will, Claire, Tracey, josh, Victoria, thank you to the staff for looking after me and for the excellent service. All of you go above and beyond and go the extra mile to ensure my stay is smooth. Thank you.
- 491AndrewB491 (10/5): What a star on the front desk - Comfortable stay. Very clean with a lovely bed. The highlight of the stay was Victoria the lady on the front desk. She greeted us with a genuine warm welcome, was exceedingly helpful and her face beamed for all to see. She is an asset to Premier Inns and was such a pleasant change from miserable disinterested staff one frequently encounters.
- B9174MGcatherined (10/5): Excellent. - The staff really made this experience! friendly, attentive, happy and knowledgeable. The hotel was immaculately clean. Although every room was full, it was quiet. Excellent sleep!
Good food and friendly service at Brewers Fare, right next door.
