Guest Reviews
- GarySussex (8/5): Enjoyable Stay - Clean, comfortable room and an excellent breakfast at the Beefeater Inn next door. Special thanks to the very friendly receptionist who solved our problem with the fire alarm!
- Guide300944 (10/5): Lovely Premier Inn, would recommend/ stay again - Lovely Premier Inn, I upgraded to a premier plus room and it was really nice, quiet with nice quality tea, nespresso, chocs etc and an iron/ board as well as lots of space. Was there for business so just needed something practical but would've been happy to stay for leisure too. Nice staff and atmosphere.
- RKassie (10/5): Excellent hotel. Fabulous service. - I have nothing but praise for the entire team at this Premier Inn. I have stayed at this location on multiple occasions, and each visit has been consistently excellent. From the moment I approach the check-in desk, I am always greeted with a warm smile. The check-in process is seamless, and I am always very well looked after.
The reception team manage my car parking, book my dinner and breakfast reservations, and coordinate every aspect of my stay — from room cleaning to any additional request I’ve ever had. The restaurant staff are pleasant, attentive, and always happy to recommend dishes or highlight daily specials. The cleaning team keep both the rooms and hotel spotless, and they too never fail to greet me kindly.
I have stayed in many Premier Inn hotels, but I have yet to find a team more sincere, hardworking, and genuinely welcoming than the staff here. Their service, professionalism, and kindness always exceed expectations, and I truly appreciate the effort they put into every guest’s experience.
A wonderful hotel, run by an exceptional team. Please keep up the great work — I would mention names, but there are far too many deserving of recognition.
- Happyholidayer7 (2/5): BEWARE THE CARPARK - I know that the carpark is not run by Premier but ultimately they should be held responsible and, if the parking company they use try making extra money out of Premier customers by sending out erroneous (I am being polite here) PCN notices, then Premier should do something about it.
Basically we spent a night at Port Solent. We knew there was a £3 parking charge for 24 hours. No problem. We got to the carpark and read the notice to see how to pay. We were on the machine in the foyer when the helpful young receptionist said he could do that for us. Took the reg. number and card. Two weeks later we got the PCN notice, for the period 3.22 to 5.10 when we left to go to the Marina. But no notice for the 9pm to 11.30 the next morning parking. If we hadn’t paid for the 1st period, how come we were okay for the 2nd? It is the total inconvenience and stress of then having to do the appeal. There is no way to contact them, yet if you don’t do the appeal, the fine goes from £60 to £100 after 2 weeks. It is almost impossible getting through to Premier. Got through to Guest Services who confirmed we were not the first, but told us to email the hotel and they would get it cancelled. They didn’t and then 2 weeks later we get a reply asking us to get confirmation from Premier that we had paid. Again, so difficult and a lot of hanging around trying to get through to Premier, but when we did, they confirmed payment was showing and had been put through by the receptionist. This has now been resolved and cancelled but we have had no apology for the time and stress for something that was never our fault and something that Premier concede is not a solitary incident.
- normahK6178OS (10/5): Convenient for ferry terminal - Good convenient location to ferry port
Nice clean modern rooms
Comfortable bed.
Only criticism is that they need more signage for location of lift in the corridors for for guests departing their rooms
- davidmZ6739PK (10/5): Happy times - Very nice friendly staff I was here for a while and made me feel very welcome at a lonely time in my life. I would love to stay here forever if I could!
- Y4232GPbonnieb (10/5): Excellent - Staff very friendly and always happy to help definitely be back in future. Central location for the whole of Portsmouth 2mins from motorway. Great value for money as 100% value.
- Z650CHkatarzynal (10/5): City break - I have nice short city breal with my husband, lovley location nice area for a walks next to the river, staff was helpfull and was warm welcome
- adamgR2446RU (10/5): Short break - From arrival to departure Staff was nice helpful room was clean by reguest on the morning rooms was nice and clean ,front car park was full but back car park have a lot space
- katarzynagA4627MF (10/5): Nice short break - Nice hotel good short dostanie to Harry Potter Laura ,Marta,Natalia make our stay very nice and comfy clean good size room
- Dream46320092212 (2/5): Never again! - Worst premier inn we've ever stayed in. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned, bedroom floor covers with crumbs around the bed. Very noisy communal doors and people in the room above who were either a herd of elephants or a family of ten pin bowlers who used the room to practice throwing. No help from the reception when we complained about the noise.
- JoanneW464 (4/5): Bed was too uncomfortable - Firstly, let me say the staff were all lovely and pleasant. Car parking was no issue. Room was tidy enough, I suppose. Unfortunately, thats where the positive experience ends. We have stayed in numerous Premier Inns across the country and can honestly say this was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in! And as for the pillows - sleeping on a piece of paper would have provided more support! (One very thin flimsy pillow each) My partner, child and myself barely slept all night. We all woke complaining of back ache.
Plus , every time someone came out of the lift corridor door, we felt the back draft via our door banging in the frame slightly...enough to wake up an already barely sleeping person. As mentioned, the staff we encountered seemed pleasant, however, a couple more staff members would have been better - they didnt stop rushing around serving guests (on reception and in the restaurant), clearing tables, cleaning tables etc.
In all, I wouldnt really recommend staying here if you need to sleep, which is unfortunate because we have never had a bad experience with Premier Inns
- Climber434421 (10/5): A one night stay. - Probably the best Premier inn we have been to. A relatively new build with excellent rooms. Great to have a shower cubicle rather than clambering into a bath.
Room was very clean and comfortable.
- paulinekG9135AR (8/5): Catch up with friends - Nice clean room . Parking hood and close to hotel . Restaurant a lovely old water mill but seats and tables not very comfy to sit and have a drink and chat . Food perfectly fine .
- 166M1966 (2/5): Try somewhere else would be my advice. - Booking confirmed on 24/9 - a month before stay.
Email sent requesting - even though it would be reasonable to expect the rooms to be adjacent anyway - the rooms to be next to each other as there were children staying on 14/10 - nothing heard back so assumed this was fine.
Arrived an hour early at 1400 on 23/10 and found out that the rooms were not next to each other with the excuse that the family rooms are on the ground floor and the other double was not. A standard Twin and a Double were booked originally. The person did offer to try and sort it out. I asked can we book in early - its a 5.5 hr journey from home and was offered an early arrival fee of 15 pounds! I didn't think this was particularly good given it was a 490 pound booking.
There were urine stains down the front of the toilet when we eventually got to our rooms which had been sorted out - not next to each other but near enough.
There were stains - physical residue of something - on the wall of the lift which remained for the entirety of our stay.
- H279GLsallym (10/5): Very good stay - We stayed in a Premium Plus room, these are beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staff were all lovely and very pleasant. The breakfast room was very busy but it is half term and the breakfast was lovely.
We would definitely stop here again.
- Q7134IWpetes (10/5): A Great stay away on business - Very friendly staff and always available to help. Julie is always smiling, nothing is too much trouble a real asset to the team. The feeling of home from home experience which is great when you work away from home as much as I do.The whole team have really looked after me.
- Giulio (10/5): Excellent stay - The premium rooms are really comfortable, clean and quiet. Stayed in 326: excellent.
Excellent breakfast fresh cooked
Kind service and availability of the staff of the hotel
- 491nmw (10/5): A great place to end a long working day! - A great location: easily reached but rural and relaxing. Comfortable rooms, free parking. The multilingual desk staff are polite, helpful and extremely competent. The attached Beefeater restaurant has a diverse and delicious range of dishes, prepared to a very high standard.
I have stayed here several times now, and never left unsatisfied.
- craigfU3117NY (10/5): Great stay and Amazing Value for money. - This hotel is great value for money. Very modern, clean and staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. If you’re in this area stay at this hotel.
- alexandervZ3039QN (10/5): A great business trip made better by great staff! - I stayed at the Premier inn for two weeks. I really enjoyed my stay.
What really made my stay was the exceptional service I received from Julie and Tina. Their customer service was outstanding 😁
- ashma-scott (10/5): Staff make this a great option - The staff really make this premier inn, shout out to Tina, Julie and Sam who made us feel so welcome, in addition to bringing some fun times!!
- jb1234107 (10/5): Amazing!!! - Julie is a delight . She is welcoming and so friendly .
Tina goes out of her way to accommodate any special need.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be back !
- 417eviej (8/5): Business hotel review - The hotel was ok but the staff made this place a great experience!!! Julie and Tina were absolutely amazing and treat the whole group really well the whole time we were here.
- johnhA5810ZQ (10/5): A good night's sleep - Only a one stop over but such friendly helpful staff. A very warm welcome from reception on arrival and departure. Lovely comfortable room. Plenty of tea and coffee available.Would stay there again if in the area.
- meganfK6143ZB (10/5): Lovely staff! - Really comfy and clean rooms, but DJ made our trip! So informative, welcoming and helpful for all the family on the front desk! Thank you DJ!
- LancashireGem (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming stay. - A very comfortable stay as always.
Bill and Theresa always make us feel very welcome. We have been staying here for many years.
- GuynElaine (10/5): Another great stay - Have been coming to this hotel on and off for 20 yrs or so to visit family nearby. Rooms clean and comfortable went for the upgrade which was definitely worth it beds were great and room quiet. Bill on the front desk was very helpful with check in questions and every morning Theresa sorted our breakfast out with a smile great team work from all the staff thanks
- X6460ODguym (10/5): Another great stay - We have been staying at this hotel for the past 20odd years and have seen it expand and undergo renovations and upgrades. The quality of the rooms and general appearance is clean and fit for purpose the premier plus rooms are worth the upgrade. Breakfast was great despite a very busy weekend special shout outs to regular stalwarts Bill on reception and Theresa serving the breakfasts for their help, assistance and generally great hospitality.
- Happiness26417584458 (10/5): Great! - Service was amazing from gran and amy breakfast was cooked well by the chef donna. Prefer the yogurt in the pots as the new one has bits in and stale taste.
- B7217GIkeithw (10/5): Recommended - Very good value , spotless and a very comfortable bed , staff helpful and friendly
Enjoyed the lighting in the washroom
Overall a flawless experience
- tennysono2025 (2/5): Poor management - We checked into the hotel at about 6pm my room was not cleaned.its time for us to bath there is no soap. The next day I asked for soap from the lady at the desk she said oh let me ring room service,I waited for almost an hour no response. We had plans stay for extra days we had to book another hotel that morning.
- TheVaxary (10/5): Very convenient and quiet overnight stay. - Arrived late but so was quite tricky to find in the dark. The night lighting was a bit dull but no real problems. Really good welcome and the chap said that he was available all night if there were any problems/queries.
The room was excellent as expected and a good size. Quiet enough and so I got a good nights sleep.
Really convenient for the M25 without being too close.
Definitely would stay again.
Thankyou.
- mattlO4599BP (2/5): Blood stained bedsheets & TVs that turn on by themselves at night - Dried blood stained bedsheets (size of a 50p) & TVs that turn on by themselves at night - fun at 3am!
Only redeeming feature was the breakfast was ok
- 769johntucker (10/5): Great stay! Excellent location close to everything - Stayed here for one night before we travelled across to Isle of Wight. Very clean and comfortable. Used the travel cot for my baby. Great location shopswise and food restaurants. Only negative would be the waiting around for hot food to be brought out at breakfast.
- jamescJ5609XW (2/5): Truly terrible - Receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Experience was worst I have ever had in a Premier inn. TV needed to be fixed, USB sockets did not work. Inadequate single heater left room freezing. Nearby beefeater was terrible. Food flavour is best described as stale oil, which fitted nicely with the drinks served in jars. I am sure this was seen as rustic thematic. If so make it clear on website. Will actively avoid on my next trip to area.
- drchips420 (4/5): Gone were the good days - I have been going here for years, scince the tulip . It's a good location for me , close to my friends and family. How ever they have gone down hill with less staff over the years... And standards slipping. Breakfast is now mainly greece with cheap food, eg bacon is mainly fat . Everything is swimming in fat... And tasteless. The cost of the rooms has also gone up. There car park is a joke, you pay to stay 3 pound, yet after 18:00 there is no space at all. So you have to park on the street.
- Y2374FLrobg (2/5): Total incompetence - Firstly the 99% of the staff are totally incompetent. Booked up on arrival my dinner slot for the evening. Go down on the first night and the lady took my order. 35 mins later my drink still didn’t arrive. When I then asked the lady what was going on it turned out she hadn’t even placed my order for my drink or food. Which apparently was my fault. It then still took 30 mins to get my burger that I had ordered. There was people just walking out due to the staff not having a clue.
Go the second night for food as I had a meal deal package. Same lady at the restaurant and they hadn’t booked me in for the second night. Asked if I could still eat there to which her reply was “no we are fully booked!”. Now the restaurant has around 20-25 tables. 2 we’re currently being used!!
Probably the worst stay I have ever experienced in a premier inn.
Avoid this hotel !!
- jessC4998LU (4/5): Good hotel awful eating place - HOTEL WAS GOOD AS ALWAYS BUT DO NOT EAT AT THE MILL. It used to be excellent but whether it has changed Chef`/ staff this time it was embarassingly awful1 We met guests there and assured them it was good but it was NOT!
- Explore29794981499 (10/5): Food phenomenal - Premier inn staff really friendly and rooms are perfect. I’m mainly writing this review to praise the cook in the restaurant. I’m on my forth night having the mixed grill. Always cooked to perfection and great quality meat. Can’t fault it…. Found out the cooks name is Jorja. Currently sat waiting for my 5th Mixed grill
- nigelo495 (2/5): Lack of supplies and surroundings carpark not great q - Got there late on friday night from airport with hired car 4 adults as soon as we pulled into carpark noticed a load of empty canisters left behind by junkies (see pics) and as it was hired car didnt feel happy leaving car there and never slept that night
Next morning we had early start & arrived at breakfast (prepaid) only to be told there was no
Eggs
Mushrooms
Tomato's
Butter
Pudding
Coffee
Fresh fruit
Brown bread
And more
As we wer in an event to attend we rushed on through an wer told tomorrow would be different so got up Sunday and no food again so we rushed off to the airport to get fed
NOT FOR ME !!!
- dregray (2/5): Disastrous and very disappointing - The hotel was entrance was poorly signed and unlit, so even the local taxi drivers missed it. The approach to the car park was full of potholes. The restaurant and bar were poorly staffed and hardly any food available, so we decided to get a taxi into town to eat but the complimentary taxi phone in reception wasn't working and, apparently, hotel staff don't book taxis for guests. We waited 15 minutes to get served in the bar and then sat outside in the garden just as the maintenance man turned up to start jetting a blocked drain. The bar staff, when they eventually bother to turn up to serve you, either can't add up, or don't know the prices of the drinks they're serving. We used to live locally, so we know this place very well. Oh boy, has it gone downhill. Never, ever again!
- s2rmsd (2/5): Bad experience - Had no heating for 5 days and bedroom was never cleaned and the food was terrible only some items and staff was rude I got swear at by the staff members also had no water they also refused to move me they said they had no rooms but they did have room they keep me in that room for 5 day now I have a cold
- 342jamesw (6/5): It will do - The room wasn't bad, comfortable with the amenities you would expect from a Premier Inn. It was let down by the extremely slow WiFi and complete lack of mobile phone reception. It is also rather remote with the need for a car to get anywhere.
The receptionists were very pleasant, especially Natalia who could not have been nicer and more helpful.
If you are staying here, I severely recommend avoiding the beefeater as it is absolutely terrible, and although it is not run by the hotel it is still linked through the menus and the paid breakfast (which we had to have refunded because it was just awful).
Overall an okay stay but nothing special in the slightest.
- 463shauno (6/5): Not the best - Overall cleanliness wasn’t the best, the carpet was very dusty which you could see. Shower based wasn’t clean and hairs from previous visits could be seen on the tray. Breakfast not the best either. Staff very friendly
- Camper66956166113 (8/5): Lovely place to visit - We have stayed in this hotel before as it's close to a place we visit when we come down from our home in the North. it's pleasant, clean, quiet (despite being next to the M25) and the staff are always friendly. The moor Mill pub next door is nice and has a good atmosphere with a big beer garden. Nice comfortable stay overall.
- 47carmely (10/5): Off chance stop - Had a last min stop over. Must say spotlessly clean. Very welcoming. Would stay again. Had great nights sleep. Good value
- 74wendya (10/5): Great stay - What a lovely place to stay...stopped over night as seeing family...staff and accommodation absolutely fantastic.. will stay again
- connorwL7392OQ (10/5): A Hidden Gem! - What a little hidden gem this place turned out to be. We had a 3 and a half hour drive from Runcorn. When we arrived, we saw the little stream that runs around the hotel and thought it was lovely. We were greeted by a lovely lady on the front desk who explained everytbing to us from where the room was and what times the breakfast was. The room itself was exactly what we have come to expect from a Premier Inn. Very clean, comfy and welcoming. We were skeptical to try the Beefeater on site as there were a lot of mixed reviews. I am glad we did. It was lovely! Set in an old mill, it has a very rustic feel to it. They have a lot of the original milling equipment on display. That was interesting to see! The wait staff were all so, so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Took our food orders promptly and we were served delicious, piping hot food. The desserts were amazing as well. All in all, a perfect little stay on our way to Harry Potter World. A lovely stay in a lovely location! I wouldn't hesitate to use again!
- StripeyShrimp (10/5): Stunning scenery, good food and a lovely quiet location. - I did a lot of research before booking this hotel and read a lot of reviews, a lot of which put down the hotel because of the Beefeater pub nextdoor.
We however, found the hotel fabulous. Exactly what you’d expect from a Premier inn, lovely and welcoming front of house staff, large comfortable high up bed, large room, tv, charging ports and a lovely en suite bathroom. The charging ports threw me off slightly as they were actual USB’s next to the bed which did cause a slight issue due to having a USB-C to USB-C charger but we were able to get around this by using the plug socket at the end of the bed with an extension lead.
The shower was exceptionally clean albeit not very powerful which was a little disappointing but didn’t ruin our stay.
We were skeptic about the Beefeater next door due to the reviews but decided to give it a try anyway for our evening meal. The staff were lovely, food was delicious and hot and it wasn’t too expensive given the location. The pub is part of an old mill which has the history of it posted downstairs when you enter the bar it also has old milling equipment on the second floor.
Upstairs is where you’re seated for food, so unfortunately not very accessible due to the age of the mill (being built in 1086 there’s no lift access but downstairs is completely accessible although not sure about the toilets as I didn’t use them there). The scenery around the mill is beautiful and considering you’re not far from the motorway you can barely hear it, there’s a lovely walk around the river that the mill uses and a huge beer garden out the back of the pub also.
In short it was a lovely stay and we will definitely be coming again.
- S7986YZandym (10/5): Outstanding relaxed stay - Absolutely fantastic stay very warm welcome from the moment we walked in staff have been amazing the hotel is spotless and the rooms to the beds are so comfy had a really great sleep .and the unlimited breakfast was a bonus was lovely and a lot of choice .and good to see premier inn haven't sold out the customers to the government ..well done .and thank you all again for a relaxing amazing couple of day away .will definitely return ..
- linziroe (10/5): Warm, friendly and clean space to stay! - During a road trip we stayed on two separate occasions over the course of 9 days in two different rooms, one on the ground floor for 3 nights and one on the first floor for one night. Both rooms were to the same standard, clean and spacious. Bathroom clean, only shower no bath but non slip bath mat can be requested if needed for kids/unstable adults. Breakfast was delicious. Hot food was made to order rather than buffet style. Sausages were delicious! Plenty availability of continental breakfast, cereals and fruit. All the staff we came across were friendly from the night porters to reception, chef and restaurant staff and even the maintenance man. Our breakfast was delivered promptly to our table and was a generous portion size. Would definitely stay here again.
- 138daleyh (6/5): Over priced accommodation - Hotel was clean and accessible, breakfast was average like any other premier inn , check in and out was efficient, but the room was basic with no extras or condiments considering the price it was not value for money and was only a double bed . Location was ok.
- gillians665 (10/5): GREAT STAY, COMFORTABLE HOTEL, GREAT BREAKFAST - My Husband and I visited for a short break to see friends, who live close at Lostock Hall. Very polite gentleman on reception, who welcomed us and checked us in. Lovely comfy room, everything you need. It had no air conditioning and it was the hottest weekend in July, but, with the window open and the fan going, it still felt comfortable. Very very comfortable beds, in fact I had the best night sleep in a long time. Great shower, which you could use with the hand held part, or the water fall shower. Easy to use (unlike some), and getting the temperature right was a doddle. Mood lighting in the bathroom, if you have to use it at night. There was a strange smell in the room, but we think it was something the cleaners had used. Tea making facilities, kettle, no iron, but we had taken our own, but did not need it. Breakfast was great. The ladies who serve were so friendly, and everything was hot and freshly cooked (you could see the chef cooking and serving up). We will definitely return as we will plan to see our friends again. Definitely recommend.
- sarahkJ5663XR (10/5): Welcome break - The best Premier Inn I have stayed in so far. Welcoming, clean, quiet and a good breakfast. The room was almost state of the art with absolutely everything you would need except for aircon but there was a good fan. Very, very nice indeed. Would stay again anytime. A welcome break on a long, hot journey.
- F5703ANandyw (10/5): Business Stay - I stay in Premier Inns all round the country with work, and this is the best one. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and Alan on reception was particularly helpful with a parking issue.
- Iswales (10/5): Great nights sleep - First time staying at a premier inn but won’t be my last. Stayed with my 2 teenage daughters after a gig in Manchester. Clean and tidy room, friendly helpful staff and at a good price
- MapleHerts (10/5): Great location, friendly efficient staff. - Little gem of a hotel. Recently refurbished. All the facilities you need - close to M6 but not at all noisey. Excellent pub next door (Walton Fox) for food and drink, where staff are very friendly.
Hotel is Surrounded by a few shops for emergencies including Sainsbury.
Staff go above and beyond to be helpful and make you feel welcome. I have stayed here several times and they always give great service. Breakfast is excellent, served in the hotel. High standard produce, great selection, well cooked. Or Continental option.
Very reasonable room rates. I highly recommend this hotel.
- irenefT9354HL (2/5): Bas experience - The bed was awful. I was awake thre whole night.
The staff are lovely.
We had room 107, avoid as shower unusable as curtain too short and sprats everywhere making it a h & S issue.
They to update this room as it is so tired looking.
We had room 108 on other occasions and it is a premier Plus, you feel like you are in a different hotel.
- DayTrip49017492877 (10/5): Cosy, clean & familiar & best night sleep - Cosy, clean & familiar
When I visit family I always stay here. It's always clean, well presented, spotless & you know what your getting. The beds are siper comfy & bathrooms/shower good & clean.
I have tried higher star rating in area & never again.
- O8091AIscottd (10/5): brilliant staff at Preston south Craven drive - I stayed over the 29/30 May and also booked 01-02 June .
I mistakenly booked booth on the same night, two guys in reception Aln and Bill were superb. friendly and professional in sorting out the mistake which was mine and rebooked for 01/02 June .
These two fantastic guys save same £82 , and when i come to Preston again i will always book this hotel.
The lady at breakfast who seems to be on her own was brilliant and looked after me as i had a dietary requirement .
Any mangers looking at this please value and always reward where you can . your staff, they make your hotel , and people went above and beyond as they so often do in these circumstances.
