Guest Reviews
- nicolaeS2601LH (10/5): Jo and Liz brilliant - Nicola - Have stayed here and Liz and Jo have been fantastic hosts never anything too much trouble. Clean room and bathroom. Also met a friend staying here Michael who thinks the same.
Will stay again thanks ladies x
- F1722QWjayh (10/5): A great stay, as promised. - I stayed with my partner and as always, had a lovely time. The rooms are good value for money and you can expect a great night's sleep, with a good breakfast waiting for you across the road.
The only letdown is the service upon arrival as we had to wait a good bit to see someone in the lobby and they were hard to understand.
Other than that, I would highly recommend.
- 111PATRICI (10/5): Will definitely return to Premier inn Alfred Street - Fantastic stay in Belfast
Really helpful staff
Bonita on reception could not do enough to make my staff perfect.
Breakfast was really good and plenty of everything.
- X1719XPtracyr (10/5): Great location - Great location Nice room with a view of the cranes room 606 Friendly staff Leona & Leanne who were quick to make up the additional bed that housekeeping had missed on our booking.
Lovely breakfast plenty of availability of items nice cosy restaurant.
- phileasfoggtmc (8/5): Decent hotel in a good location - Decent usual standard from Premier Inn. Centrally located and quite modern. A very warm welcome from the ladies on reception. Rooms were great to a high standard
- Cruiser55679385254 (10/5): Great stay - Great hotel in a fantastic location, we were visiting for the Christmas market and was so handy. Family room was perfect, great breakfast and great value overall. Bettina on reception was really nice and helpful, will definitely be back.
- bobbylB347OH (10/5): Family time - Stayed at the Premier Inn Bedford Town Centre Riverside with my wife and kids and we were really impressed. The room was clean and comfy, the beds were great, and the staff were genuinely friendly. The riverside location was lovely for a quick walk, and the kids absolutely loved the breakfast!
Would definitely stay again
- 133114 (6/5): Eat breakfast elsewhere. - Do not have breakfast. For 3 days the fried eggs must come out of shells with broken yolks covered in grease/water mix and made of rubber. Day 3 asked for freshly cooked eggs which were at least edible. Day 2 no hash browns or beans had to ask and wait 10 minutes then when they came out she removed a half full tray of Sausages! Day 2 just had delivery the brown bread was under heat lamp in kitchen as it was frozen! No muffins and a few bedraggled pain ochocolat.coffee machine had to be looked at by someone as it constantly said call operator. No good if you are having to be somewhere early.
Rest of stay up to normal standard and not had this problem before, and hope never again. Got another one booked in new year.
- 839shanig (10/5): Best stay, great staff service - What an amazing stay at the hotel, great staff and service. Leonna and Leanne treated us exceptionally well. Thanks so much for looking after us :)
- lauramP5594BR (10/5): Great Location - We had a lovely sty at he Bedford town Centre hotel. The staff were really friendly and helped me with booking a taxi. The location is really convenient for Bedford and the breakfast was hot with the option o fresh eggs on request. Only downside is the parking cost.
- iandT857GZ (10/5): Great staff food good - Great welcome from moment we walked through the door staff very welcoming. Room very clean and warm. Food great Leona and Leanne helpful and friendly.
Second stay but will be back location so handy .
- 114nicholal (10/5): Blinding breakfast - Included the breakfast during this stay and I wasn’t disappointed! Beautifully cooked full English breakfast with everything you would expect. You could help yourself. Lovely lady called Gemma was on hand to see if I would like a fresh fried egg. Was helped by a lovely lady called Mandy who helped me source some brown bread for my toast. Lots of cold drinks available as well as your usual hot drinks. A lovely young girl called elise helped me to my table as I was trying to juggle a very big plate of food plus drinks. Very clean and a lovely friendly atmosphere. 10/10
- graemes656 (6/5): Lovely location let down on quality of the bed - Lovely location and the room was very nice with a view , only thing that let this place down is I found the bed not very comfortable, this could just be to individual preference, I can’t comment on the food as I did not have breakfast or a meal
- 591frankiem (4/5): Disappointing stay - Disappointed with poor cleanliness of public areas. Lack of staff resulted in long waits to check in and for bar service
- roemanib (10/5): M - I traveled here on a business trip. One of the members of the team members called Dawn was very helpful and accommodating and made my experience great.
- 1staves (6/5): Service deteriorating due to understaffing - As ever the room is good .However despite best effotrts of staff service is poor due to understaffing . There were only two people covering all roles including reception. Taking orders cooking and serving staff _ This was both friday and saturday nights. And breakfast.
- M7339LHlewisr (2/5): Awful - Absolute stinker took 45 mins for starter staff arguing in the hall I’d be embarrassed if that was my staff, not a single positive to say about this place, even had staff swearing at customers who simply asked how long it would be
- S3258REangelaw (10/5): Fabulous! - Fabulous 3 days - first lone travel - what made it so fabulous was the amazing staff!!
They were run off their feet most of the time but were still amazing - thank you x
- G8164YVbriant (10/5): Excellent. - Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast. Spacious rooms. Everything went smoothly even though there were renovation s going on.
- OwenD201 (8/5): Clean and central - Clean and central staff very friendly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- tiniandc1 (10/5): Check in - Aaron at check in was a pleasure
Such a lovely gentleman and the perfect manners
Very helpful and willing to help with with any questions we had
- 421sariet (2/5): Never again! - The reception area smelt of strong body odour and then the room smelt of smoke and sweat - it appeared clan but clearly people have been staying for longer periods of time than the odd night and its in the curtains and carpets it smells like someone's house that smokes. I also didn't feel safe as a female on my own it seems like a hotel mainly for male workers or males in general. Never again would I go there and its put me off premier inn in general now too
- 764lizzien (6/5): Great location, hotel could’ve been better - Great location and mostly friendly staff, although we were told we were “cutting it a bit fine” by arriving for breakfast at 9:40am? Breakfast was ok, although the scrambled eggs were watery from sitting there too long & utensils had obviously been cross-contaminated between the meat & eggs/other dishes!
The room itself was nice and clean, although it was bitterly cold over night and felt very damp in the morning as the heating didn’t work particularly well. There were also lots of building works going on there which we weren’t made aware of until a few days before our arrival… had I of known this, I probably would’ve booked a premier inn in the city centre.
- gracenH9349GN (10/5): Warm and welcoming - Gemma was lovely, hotel was clean and comfortable will return.
Gemma was lovely, hotel was clean and comfortable will return.
- josephinejeffrey69 (4/5): Poor - Location is good. Work going on while we stayed. Only one lift working which was a disaster.
Atmosphere was lacking.
Staff left alot to be desired except for one friendly gent in the desk. Overheard staff members bad mouthing a customer. Toilets in bar areas were disgusting.
Check in was slower than slow.
Breakfast was poor.. Expensive for what it was.
Booked 3 family rooms only 1 was available when we checked in at 5 30 pm. Told we would have to wait or take double rooms which we did in the end.
Outside of hotel looks un-inviting however rooms were warm and fairly clean but not spotless.
Having said all of this I would stay here again for location.
- conman2019 (8/5): Good location - Good location
We recently stayed here for 2 nights arriving at 2.20 but had to wait till 3 to check in whether our room was ready or not
Lovely riverside view, apart from 1 or 2 little things the room was clean
First morning for breakfast we were greeted by a nice friendly lady who asked us about allergies, explained everything and asked for room number
Second morning we stood for nearly 15 minutes by the please wait to be seated sign before a different woman came
She only asked room number and would you like an egg.
Lovely breakfast both mornings spoilt by the luke warm coffee (latte and cappuccino) out of the coffee machine
Parking at the recommended nearby multi storey car park was expensive, difficult to work out the total amount to pay for 48 hours and unclear if we would receive a hotel discount after midnight on the Sunday night
We found it easier and much cheaper to park at Melbourne Street West ncp car park 10 mins walk away over the bridge.
But anyway,, good hotel, we enjoyed our stay
- lookwithcaleb (10/5): Work trip - Very friendly staff felt welcome and looked after the whole stay. Nice little bar and a good pint! Breakfast was buffet style and kept topped up regular.
- chloemV6269IQ (4/5): Poor - Had a very rude encounter with staff. Firstly myself and many others hanging around reception on multiple occasions waiting for a staff member to appear.
Second I booked an early check in paid £15 extra for 11am and when I arrived I took myself to reception at 10.57 to ask if the room was possibly ready. I was told it’s only 3 mins to 11am and I should wait until 11. I went back 3 mins later and was advised the room won’t be ready until after 12 as check out is that time. I explained that I paid for early check in and am here with my luggage etc the woman told me the only option I have is to downgrade my room and I can check in early I agreed with a bit of hesitation and I still waited until 12.05 to check in. I was sitting directly in front of reception for this time and not one member of staff kept in touch with me or offered me a coffee or anything . The woman who I dealt with never offered to refund the £15 for early check in that I paid. She also was very intimidating and had a serious lack of people skills in terms of communication. Luckily that evening I met another lady on reception who was lovely and nothing but helpful. She took my complaint and actually advised me herself to write a review . I won’t be staying here again and definitely wont be recommending to anyone simple due to the fact that woman seemed to be head of reception and the way I was greeted by her was nothing short of rude and disrespectful. Don’t waste your money.
- purpletravller (8/5): Central location handy for the sights - Situated a short walk from the main attractions on a quiet street. About a 20 minute walk from the main bus station. Building was undergoing some building work and we were notified of this prior to our visit. Staff, on the whole, were friendly and helpful (a lovely receptionist gave us some suggests on where to eat and Aaron the young breakfast server was also very helpful). Breakfast was free during our stay (promotional offer) and was the standard Premier Inn fare although the soda scones were outstanding. Rooms were comfortable, although a little chilly, and the bathroom was fine.
- mariewK2293HH (10/5): One night - Had a very pleasant stay here for one night. We were going to the Waterfront theatre and the hotel was just a 10-15 min walk away. Its in a very good location as everywhere is within walking distance. The hotel is also situated on a quiet street so very little road noise. We checked in at 3pm and were given our key by a very friendly receptionist. We had a room on the 1st floor. Our double bedroom was roomy and also had a sofa bed . The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. The only complaint about the bathroom was the bath was quite high and my husband found it difficult getting in and out after his shower. The bed was very comfortable.
We had the meal deal - 2 course dinner with a drink and breakfast. As our booking had included a free breakfast we only had to pay an extra £16 each for our meal. Maybe not the best, but we ate it and were full afterwards. However the waitress was so attentive and friendly that she made up for any shortcomings. As for the self service breakfast, we couldn't complain at all. There was fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, and of course the big fry up. It filled us up for the rest of the day. We will definitely be back.
- carolej2017 (8/5): Comfortable and clean city centre hotel - Overall good experience, the hotel is centrally situated within easy walking distance to city centre. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was as you would expect from a Premier Inn, good but best when freshly put out.
We only tried the Thyme restaurant once well we didn’t actually as 7.30pm on a Monday night it was closed 😳
The staff were all friendly but must give a special mention to Kris who is friendly, funny and went above and beyond to show us where to catch the bus to the city airport which cost £4.60 for two instead of a fortune for a taxi.
Thanks again for your help Kris.
- francisc363 (10/5): Very satisfied with recent stay - My wife and I stayed in this hotel recently and all in all it was a pleasurable experience. The check in was smooth, the food in the restaurant was good and the staff really excelled themselves, as they were obviously short of a few bodies - but those who were there really went the extra mile in terms of providing top class customer service. I always forget to notice individual names as it would be appropriate to highlight their excellent service here; but they were all excellent.
- janicejQ2788QG (10/5): Excellent - This is the best Premier Inn I stayed in. well done! all the staff are so friendly and everything is clean and as you would expect, I got the river view which was worth the money
- Fowler43 (10/5): Gluten Free Heaven - As a recently diagnosed coeliac, I was really worried about eating breakfast somewhere that wasn’t home. Lorna and the team were absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t have asked for better service. I was given clean cutlery, a lovely lady made me some gluten free toast and Lorna was amazing, serving me my breakfast with separate utensils. I was seriously impressed! A huge thank you and well done to the team and I hope other Premier Inns do the same.
- B9697BTdanm (10/5): Great breakfast - Pop in now and again for breakfast with my girlfriend. Great views and a friendly team. Ask for an omelette if you go at the weekend they’re great :)
- adrianfR8414KY (2/5): No eggs at breakfast - Very disappointed to find out that they had run out of eggs at breakfast.
Not what I expect from a premier inn.
You can do better
- meganbT37DD (10/5): 5* customer service! - We managed to get a last minute booking tonight - we had a guest house booked which was terrible so we needed to find a last minute room. Kenan managed to fit us in last minute and went above & beyond for us, we're so grateful. Thank you so much for your great customer service - we will 100% be returning and recommending all our family & friends to stay!
- edcD1338XQ (10/5): Outstanding staff and situation handling - I had a really warm welcome from reception, I felt at home. Had a couple small issues with the room however how the manager handled it deserves them not to loose any stars
Would definitely come back again
Couldn't fault anything
- 457garyu (8/5): Good value - Bed was comfy, room was clean. Was too hot and no option to open the window and no air con. Corridors outside the room has a strange smell but this was not in the room. Breakfast was nice, good selection
- davidwE7386BY (10/5): Two night business stay - Great location , rooms as expected , lovely lady in reception, as were all the staff , very good value for money . I would definitely stay here again
- Nagi (2/5): - THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL EVER
- Lorinda (6/5): - The hotel is located in a beautiful area. Very walkable.
The room was ok. Here's why I rated it poor. We arrived late and asked for a luggage cart - there were 5 of us traveling with lots of luggage. We were told "we don't offer that service". We didn't ask for someone to take our luggage to our room. The 2 ladies were very nice and helped us but no luggage cart? There was no easy way to unload or load the vehicle. There were no phones in the rooms - couldn't call each other. There was no water in the rooms provided or even an option to purchase water. When turning on the AC, it was incredibly noisy almost to the point wondering if I should call someone to check it. The breakfast for 11 pounds was nothing special. I'd spend a few more pounds and get a great breakfast elsewhere. Found 2 nice places to eat that were incredible - the Turkish place next door - phenomenal. TKMaxx across the street was handy to pick up some forgotten things. The parking is located in a garage right next door to TKMAXX. Not sure on the daily rate but each time we left it was around 15 pounds. i would not stay here again.
- joshgX4206ZI (6/5): The building is nice but cheap construction. - The building and room was very clean. Checkin was quick with the self checkin service. Only problem is the walls are paper thin I could hear the room above coughing and the room next to me talking and giggling most of the night.
- N1417SRscotts (6/5): Nice location and views from thd 8th floor, but led down by a sub par car park and bad drains smell. - Nice location but let down by lack of its own deficated car park. Yes there is chargeable parking available locally at the River centre multi story (at a reasonable rate too) but anyone with a larger (and particularly wider) car than a medium sized hatchback or saloon needs to be very careful getting in and out if the park (and also between levels) as the entrance, exit and level ramps are all quite narrow and have very high kerbs waiting to take chunks out of your wheels. The roadways being narrow, these kerbs are also very hard to see once you've begun your turn in.
Oh yes, and on exit, avoid using the left hand of the two exit barriers at all costs (see above warning about high kerbs if doing so). Much easier and safer to wait a little so you can go straight out the right hand barrier without needing to turn in.
Room was ok, if a little snug for a family of four, and the staff helpful and cheerful.
- 25damonc (10/5): Lovely little hotel - Oh what a lovely little hotel, the lady on reception was so friendly and helpful no waiting to check in. The hotel seemed clean in the corridors and the room was so much bigger than other hotels we have stayed in. The room was clean and fresh but the bathroom needs more attention in cleaning and general upkeep. The breakfast was not attached to the hotel but that was not an issue.
- sarahj916 (10/5): Five ⭐️ experience - The Company I work for booked me at the Riverside while I work at the Bedford branch, from check up until the next before I check out, all the colleagues here have been phenomenal! They have made my stay feel extra special, they are always cheery, even when they are dealing with guests that are in my opinion rude and disrespectful.
I wanted one night to take my food up to my room they prepard it beautifully and even offered to bring it up to my from, all the food is delicious!
One particular lady I let her know I had made a mess without meaning to, she made sure I didn't feel ashamed, and said it will be all cleaned up. this evening I come into my room and she left me some goodies with a lovely note that actually brought tears to my eyes, I hope she reads this and knows she is an absolute treasure x
The only one thing that was not anyone's fault I struggled with was how warm the room is, but on the plus side at least it'll be perfect for when those cold nights settle in.
I highly recommend staying here, I thoroughly look forward to coming back. ✨️
- Q5682JNstephent (6/5): Worst Premier Inn breakfast ever - Hotel room was adequate but Bathroom was in need of a little TLC around the skirting boards but it was clean and tidy
We did book on arrival breakfast for both days on the first day was told there was no cooked breakfast and on the second the so called cooked breakfast was cold!
- Seaside15507180356 (10/5): Lovely place - Was very clean and tidy, the staff are friendly an polite! Checking in was quick an easy, the room service was great would recommend to everyone!!
- Jet53900841701 (10/5): Great! - Had such a lovely stay at Premier Inn Bedford South! The staff were really friendly and welcoming which made checking in easy. The room was clean comfy and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable, I had one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages. Would definitely come back and happily recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
- 949bluep (10/5): Lovely - Welcoming staff, clean room. Good location little bit of construction work but didn’t disturb our stay whatsoever - Receptionist on duty was also very welcoming.
- 626shenab (10/5): Spectacular - First time staying at this premier inn. Easy to get to, clean hotel, clean room, friendly staff. Will definitely recommend to others.
- candour (2/5): Very poor - Very poor experience - room was very worn (furniture chipped and cracked) and not at all clean. Mould in the shower and the floor desperately needed hoovering. Reception team very friendly and helpful but will not be returning. You used to know what you were getting with Premier Inn but standards have seriously slipped.
- SteveMRochester (6/5): Needs to improve - Stayed here for just one night, but this wasn't the best of the Premier Inns. We have stayed in quite a few around the country and I was hopeful that this would be similar but there wasn't much of a welcome. The member of staff who checked us in didn't really talk, seemed very quiet, didn't even say Hello. Our room on the ground floor I was expecting to be noisy, but thankfully it wasn't. The room wasn't particularly clean, dust everywhere, strange brown stains on the wall near the toilet, hairs in the shower and no shower gel in the dispenser. Bed was very comfortable which was a bonus but I wouldn't recommend to stay here again.
- OSSAM (10/5): Perfect once again - I came in June 2025 and came back in August 2025 and was just as pleased as the first stay. Perfect location, very clean rooms,,the staff is perfect informative and always helpful. My room was perfect with a perfect view. My first stay in June was for 6 nights and this stay in August was for 6 nights. You step out of the hotel directly to your safe boardwalk and it is located next to the town for all you needs and comfort
- stevejS1809LC (4/5): Squalid may be too strong a word, but… - Stayed here ten years ago when it first opened and WOW has it changed! Rooms are tatty, shower didn’t work properly, tub was so slippery (no rubber mat provided) I nearly broke my neck every time I tried to get out! They seem to be building an extension next door, not sure if this includes renovating the current rooms. For the price they charge per night you’d expect much better…
- julieeclaire (2/5): Awful. - Worst hotel stay ever. Rooms were dirty. No clean towels or toilet paper (we bought our own in the end). Staff shortage meant no hot food available for dinner on first night and for the following 2 days no food available for breakfast, the hotel was full and they obviously did not have sufficient staff to look after and feed guests.
- Niccyc (6/5): Reggaeland weekend - Not the best premier Inn. Staff nice room not up to the standard of other branches. Breakfast was not very hot bed was good room no phone or working usb sockets
- R510GHjacquelinem (10/5): Caring Staff through a difficult time - 5* staff and service. Due to a sad family event, we needed to stay close to Bedford hospital. The staff could not have been more caring. We can not thank them enough. We have now returned home with a better outcome than was first predicted with the knowledge that if we need to return, we know exactly where to book. A wonderful place to stay. Thank you so much for helping to make a sad few days into somewhere we could come back to try to relax
Pizza and breakfast exceptional. Thank you.
- ritzyk2020 (4/5): Gross, cleaners need retraining. - The room was an absolute mess, clumps of crumbs, bobbles, plastic tags, sequins and gems all over the floor. Make up and hair all over the windowsill. Muck and dirt all over the shower floor, dirt on the mirrors, toilet unclean, water in the kettle and the foulest smell of stale pipes in the room. The room hadn’t been cleaned at all. The only thing was the beds made. Spoke to the front desk and the loveliest girl helped us called Annabelle. She made up and cleaned a new room for us on her own, whilst dealing with a lot of other complaints from guests about unclean rooms. The poor girl was left on her own to sort all of this out and it’s not on. She was being pulled left right and centre and still trying to make everyone’s stay good. This girl needs a raise for the shift she had to deal with, the cleaners need retraining. Absolutely gross. The new room Annabelle made up was fab, we had no problems with that room, faultless. She’s an asset to your company and shouldn’t be dealing with all these issues. Surely the rooms should have been checked by a cleaning supervisor? I booked weeks in advance as well so there is no excuse for last minute booking. The only reason I would ever rebook is because of the service Annabelle gave. Other than that it was disgusting.
- M5089VScolinc (10/5): Great reception - The reception was very helpful and enjoyed the stsy was good very clean room and bed.shower and toilet area very clean .The brewers fayre across the road the food was cooked well and was served hot the beer was very cold just how I like it ........
- Omgitsheragain (2/5): Not the usual standard for a Premier Inn. Avoid. - If you ever stay at Trentham Gardens Premier Inn (we did says before staying here), you'd find it hard to believe it's the same company. As a comparison for value, we paid £98.98 for Trentham and £110 for Bedford South., both inclusive of breakfast.
We booked as a couple, room obviously set up for just one person. One set of towels, one armchair, only two tea bags (stingy). Mould in the shower, and grimey skirting board, soap dispenser hadn't been cleaned for months even if it had been refilled. Threadbare carpet and very low ceilings (6' 4" people are in danger of head injuries). Breakfast was disgusting and over at Brewers Fayre. Woman on reception got us the second set of towels, but didn't check that anything else was needed.
To compare, the Trentham garden Premier Inn was clean, spacious, had new carpet and a purple light in the bathroom - really beautifully decorated - and staff were fab. The breakfast was superb.
Don't understand why the two were so different, but Bedford South needs to shut down for a refurb. I feel for any of the guys using this as a stopover for work purposes.
- Primeribb (2/5): Knackered mouldy bathroom and a restaurant next door run by kids with zero training - Is nobody doing anything about the horrendous black mould in the bathrooms....Im not the first to highlight either.
Not to mention the paint worn, flaking and the smell....
Don't bother dining next door, the place is run by untrained kids.
Get your act together Bedford South
- 356ameliao (4/5): Bad - Was so hot at night could barely sleep with my partner! Air condition didn’t work and WiFi was absolutely terrible. Not worth the cost. Will have to agree that I wasted a good amount of money on a poor hotel and service, definitely wouldn’t recommend
