Guest Reviews
- C8267RYkevinm (10/5): Very Good Hotel - Cleanliness room very good bed very comfortable and the room location was very peaceful. Location was away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre but only 10mins walk away.
- karley4 (2/5): Do not sray here if youd like to ger any kind of sleep - Stayed here whilst attending course at the QA Training center ...... DO NOT book if you would like any kind of sleep.....this has got to be one of the noisiest hotels i have ever slept in....screaming and shouting in the streets all night, felt like i may as well have slept on the street itself... at 3.40am i finally gave you trying to even get any sleep altogether which is just what i didnt need after a full days study the day before and a full days study and exam coming up on that day....The room was dirty, with some very questionable stains splashed across the headboard and the carpets were dirty and marked...Our breakfast was horrid with a burnt oil taste. The only highlight was our little giggle at the young man who we refered to as Basil from Faulty Towers as he was holding the fort on the reception, greeted us upon entry at dinner service, served us and ran into the Kitchen to help with the food.... poor man was multitasking to his best!!
- JoannaO694 (10/5): Welcoming and as expected - The room was as expected, fairly basic, clean, a good size and reasonably priced. Zoya was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. I was permitted to stay in the room an extra 20 minutes beyond checkout at no extra charge and this was very much appreciated and helpful in terms of meetings that day. Thanks for a great stay!
- marethat2021 (6/5): IMAnnoyeddotcom - Room was reasonably clean. However "guest supplies" room has no milk yesterday nor today. Breakfast was ok yesterday, however bacon was undercooked. Todat the fresh fruit was gone more than half hour before service was done. Also the maintenance team was using their walkytalkies on top volume in the breakfast area while making their coffees.. with guests still having breakfast. We stay at Premier Inn several times a year bit it jeeps gping downhill in recent years. Britain you'll have to do better at hospitality if you want to compete in the EU market!!
- kikilarue (4/5): Blighted by noise - Good location, cheap rate. I've stayed many times but last night I was on the st James street side of the hotel. This is directly above Wetherspoons, unlucky. you can listen to bottle bins being emptied into a skip every hour until about 12am. Then you can listen to barrel deliveries from 5am.
Won't stay here again
- herefordliz (10/5): Great Hotel - I came back to stay here to meet up with a friend and to look at the Christmas markets. It is so easy to find and such a lovely welcome when you arrive. I was able to take my bags straight up to the room when I arrived and went round the market with my friend. The room was cold when I arrived, but when I was able to close the window, it took a while to warm up. The bed was really comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean. The restaurant was kept clean and tidy. I went to 2 breakfasts and I ate in the restaurant the 1st evening and the food was really lovely. I would recommend staying at The Premier Inn Portland Street.
- E8926RYhollys (8/5): Lovely staff and communal areas but room was tatty - Stayed here overnight, lovely comfy mattress people on front desk and the door were lovely as was the lobby and communal areas, but the paint in the bathroom was peeling almost all up the wall, dark heavy scuffs in the room and bathroom and the fan was dusty/mouldy my partner got really itchy can’t say for certain what it was but the picture shows how bad it looks.
- M9508ADelaineb (10/5): Stayed more than once here - Great location only couple miles from Salford and Manchester. Quiet and comfortable . Immaculately clean , good low level shower. Nothing to complain of. Staff very friendly and helpful , I feel they go above and beyond for guests. Nothing is too much trouble.
- nataliemC1795TN (10/5): Excellent Stay - Excellent stay, hotel is close to the station, theatre, shops and restaurants. Ollie on reception was so helpful and really polite. Paulo and Philip were great at breakfast, very friendly and made us laugh. Would recommend and stay again.
- D5395KYhollya (10/5): Brilliant hotel - Holly on reception and Paulo and Phillip on breakfast we’re emore than helpful and very friendly, very pleasant to talk to and answered any questions I had!
- sophielauren1996 (4/5): Unsafe - Unfortunately even for premier inn this wasn't great, the positives being the bed is still as comfy as always and the bathroom was good for us. However we were situated on the first floor, above the bins and delivery entrance. This meant both nights from as early as 4am and till 7am I was awoken by lorries either collecting rubbish and recycling or making deliveries or collecting the laundry. To top it off our window wouldn't even close or lock! So anyone could get on the perfectly situated bin and climb in if they wanted to. Plus it meant there was a horrible draft the whole time. I had initially paid for a triple room but premier inn had decided to only give me a double meaning me and my friend now had to share a bed as they had given the room away. (I arrived at 9pm after a very long journey) the room was more bare than usual completely missing the chair or sofa bed that usually accompanies the other half of the room. Usually premier inns do the job...this one didn't.
- 648livw (10/5): Very happy with our stay - Very happy with our stay. We visited Manchester to exhibit at the Manchester Conference Centre and for our needs this was a perfect stay. Staff were friendly, room was spacious, bed very comfortable and I always love their breakfast.
10 out of 10!
- MrsK310 (4/5): Bad start to our holiday in Manchester - Very rude receptionist on Saturday afternoon. The place was busy and no one’s rooms were ready which must be tough if you’re on reception but if you’re going to work in that role it makes such a difference if you are polite to the guests not stroppy with an attitude. Really ruined our start to our holiday and other people were upset too. The manager seemed to be running round trying to help everyone. Hotel is noisy too but it is city centre so that is to be expected. Not the nicest place to stay but the room itself was normal fine premier inn standard. Wouldn’t stay again mainly due to the receptionist.
- Passenger24455049587 (10/5): Manchester Markets - Met up with a few friends to visit the Manchester Christmas markets. Hotel is a great location is arriving by car, free parking and very accessible bus routes for city centre. Staff friendly and had lots of information
- johnsO726CE (8/5): Just a three star hotel and unlikely to reach higher status - Mattress uncomfortable as we could feel springs at edges.Bar small and no atmosphere. Location of hotel very good.
Restricted menu with ever increasing prices unless on meal deal but menus seem to be getting smaller.Chips with everything and no option for mash.
- joanapF4912OO (10/5): Absolutely amazing, recommend it! - The price was very nice - which is why for us, we weren't necessarily expecting such a warm welcome and hospitality. The members of the staff were extremely helpful, super nice and always there when needed. As for the bedrooms, they're not necessarily luxurious or out of the extraordinary, but for the price you pay, it's certainly very satisfying. Much better than other hotels we've been, within the same range of price. Also, the location is quite nice - very close to the train station, which is handy to go to the airport especially. And there are many stores nearby, as well as restaurants.
Definitely recommend, don't be hesitant to book your trip, it will go well.
- FamilyTravelsX4 (10/5): Family Getaway - We stayed here for 1 night (Sunday night) after a Etihad stadium tour and the night before a trip to UK Lapland as a family.
We chose this hotel due to location, it was close to the stadium, walking distance to the Xmas markets and around an hour from UK Lapland.
Check in:
We parked the car in the car park opposite (very limited space) and walked to the hotel, checked in via the machine nice and easy
Rooms:
Clean and tidy with all that’s needed. We were overlooking the canal so could hear that during the night but other than that the hotel was silent
Drinks:
Very expensive but a nice area to sit and chill.
Xmas markets: were met with the first lot of markets within a 5 minute walk - perfect location
Will be staying here again!! 10/10 for stay.
UK Lapland was just under an hour journey - we left at 0830 and caught all the morning traffic.
- meganfM3322MH (4/5): Not the usual standard we’re used to for premier inns…. - Me and my mum stayed at this hotel last night and have been beyond disappointed. We use Premier Inns across the country frequently for concert purposes and we’ve stayed in this exact hotel before now and never came across any issues. But to say I paid £280 for just a singular night is extortionate considering the experience we had. To start off with, we checked in (after being ushered to a self scan check in point, despite saying I wanted to check in with a person at the check in desk). Went up to our room to find the sofa bed hadn’t been made up. When booking, it stated we had a family room and upon checking in, the machine gave us room number 306 which is a triple room…so we expected the bed to be made up. House keeping sorted that promptly…no problem.
More issues came later on when going down for food, around 5pm. We waited to be seated and I overheard a customer at the bar ordering something with lemonade…the bar lady explained they had none due to the restaurant running out of gas so everything was bottled. With this in mind, when ordering our drinks I asked if they had lemonade to which I was told the same thing, fine. I asked what the alternatives were and the waitress had no idea…there was no drinks menu on the table either for me to refer to so I had to solely rely on her knowledge. To order a simple drink was like getting blood out of a stone. You’d expect a waitress to be able to give a customer some sort of idea as to what other soft drinks are available. We ordered food which we waited at least 20-30 minutes for…and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Upon finishing our meals our dirty plates sat on our table for a good 10-15 minutes, the same waitress seemed to of disappeared and no one else was around to make themselves available. Food was lovely but not sure if staff need better customer service training. We needed to pay the bill so ended up doing it at the bar instead as we had the gig to get ready to go to…
The final issue came the following morning with breakfast and checking out. Went down for breakfast and it was the same waitress on shift. We waited to speak to her about our breakfasts being booked, she took our room number and surname, skimmed the sheets of paper and couldn’t seem to find it. I looked over at the piece of paper and saw our booking straight away. She then told us to seat ourselves and help ourselves to breakfast…which is fair enough but most hotels we’ve been to ask us if we’ve been before and explain where everything is from hot food to the drinks station. Her attitude just seemed very much like she couldn’t be bothered. The final issue came when checking out. We wanted to leave our bags in the luggage room whilst we went over to some shops in the city. They were more than happy to do this but retrieving our suitcases once we came back for them was a headache…we would’ve been better off taking them with us. They found my mum’s suitcase no problem, but they couldn’t seem to find mine. Like anyone would, I started to panic slightly. The room was a tiny box room with MANY suitcases/bags, in which mine was no where near my mums and shoved right at the back behind so many other people’s…you would’ve thought both bags would be stored together once they’ve been handed in together…
I’m not usually one to go on and on and be so negative with reviews but paying £280 for one night is expensive in itself…let alone not receiving the standard of customer care we are usually use to from premier inns…
- Darren555_65 (10/5): Nice Hotel & Food Good 😀 - Great Hotel. Nice staff. Rooms clean and beds extermly comfortable.
Opted for the 'meal deal' which included cooked breakfast and two course evening meal.
Great value and food was hot and service was excellent.
Reception staff nice & friendly.
- CarolFry48 (10/5): Recommended. - With Premier Inns you always get good service, good breakfasts, well furnished bedrooms and spotless bathrooms. Recommended.
- DaveH4445 (10/5): Great hotel. Its a bit hidden but its amazing and in a great location for everything! - The Self Check in for this hotel was so easy to use and saved us a long queue. The room was clean & fresh and the shower was exceptional. Also would like to thank Steven who served us in the bar as he provided a world class customer service every time we went into the bar area. Thank you!!
- K1362GXrichardr (2/5): Cold November in Manchester - This is the only hotel in the UK that I have ever stayed in where they inform you that they do not supply heating in the rooms.
- tonyg824 (2/5): There are some ok Premier Inns. This is not one of them - Staff were nice but basics like not having enough irons and tired rooms are just not good enough. My friend stayed in a Malmaison for less money the same night I stayed here. Pretty grim
- helenkL7110EP (10/5): Great location - Great location close to Piccadilly Station
Alternative stop over pre flight
Would definitely stay again, 20 mins on train to airport
- Gunnerbean (8/5): Breakfast - Stopped in for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. Breakfast normally very good, but as it was so busy, slight dip in usual standards so wil call it overall good. Staff all very friendly, and well served by Lena. Will return.
- helensU6172QT (10/5): Great experience - Nice room clean and tidy
Lovely staff (Lena) was very helpful
Highly recommend
Would stay again for business or pleasure.
- 697gilliang (10/5): Theatre trip - Very central location. Staff friendly and helpful. Best nights sleep. Breakfast had a great selection. Would definitely recommend.
- Tictactoe123 (10/5): Would recommend. - We stayed 2 nights for a funeral. We arrived at 3am after travelling a long way and the receptionist was very friendly and efficient (male, long beard)
The room was set up as needed.
Every member of staff we met were very friendly.
It was a quiet location, with free parking. We only popped into the restaurant next door for a drink but they were very friendly in there too.
- F8584RDdebbieg (8/5): No hot water coming from shower/bath - The Bed was comfortable, had a good nights sleep. The room was clean, perfect family room. The only downfall was no hot water coming out of the shower/bath. Room 215.
- Camper657969 (10/5): Comfortable room - Lovely clean comfortable room ,,, friendly staff,, first class breakfast,,,excellent location 5 minutes from train station
- andreamP758DN (10/5): Very Happy - Im very happy with our Stay. The Location was Nice. Plenty of Places to Visit. Your not Far from Piccadilly Gardens. Trams Buses etc.
- ramonvL4891QN (10/5): Understanding - Great service and staff. Thx to the lady with the big wide weddingring.
She was soo kind and made us feel welcome. Hope we meet again
- Katiesefton (4/5): Not great - Website needs to be more clear that there’s no restaurant at the hotel, the one next door resembles more of a run down night club
No food available after 7.45pm and no breakfast.
We booked as a family (cot also) we were given a room with
A shower not ideal for a toddler.
Hearing In room stunk of burn
Rubbish in corridors. Not a premier inn experience this time.
- Freedom31778670149 (8/5): NIce room and service - Nice hotel with a good service. Room was clean and warm. We received good service and had great sleep on comfy beds. We couldn't ask for more, it was lovely.
- susanaT690NX (10/5): Birthday weekend away. - It was a great stay from start to finish. Im not very technical and Oshane was there straight away to help us. In the evening while having our meal again Oshane couldn't do enough to help us and was so friendly. Again the second evening Oshane served us for the evening and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be back to stay at this premier inn again.
- O9783OGclarem (10/5): Birthday weekend away - Had a great night's stay , staff were very friendly and the rooms lovelyand clean. Also the manager Oshane who served us food and drinks was especially helpful and couldn't do enough for you. He made the stay enjoyable and fun I a lovely surroundings and decor.
- W9241HHryanp (8/5): great - great hotel reception could have been cleaner like carpets but room was great put bathroom fan was noisy didn't worried it would wake my cousin up at night time
- D278KUjosephk (10/5): Magic Man Paulo - Got to say, I've been to many hotels in many cities, but I've never received as amazing customer service as we did from Paulo, he helped check us in, helped me use the machine as I'm useless. Then he chatted to me, my wife and both my children. He made us feel extremely welcome. Then in the morning we nipped down to breakfast and Paulo was there to serve again. So chatty and kind, as soon as we said we are vegan he asked without prompt how many sausages and bacon. My son said 5 and he had lovely chat with him and kept checking on him. When he learned it was my son's birthday he gifted him a lovely drawing set. Honestly the people make the difference in any customer facing job and the service I've received by Paulo was absolutely fantastic. Give the man a raise.
- Z6412SPstevend (8/5): Enjoyed - As me and my wife are retired we tend to travel around a lot !
My stay was fab
We chose to dine out as weather was particularly decent but there food menu was eye catching
Service is brilliant from all members of the team
We will return back for our christmas market shenanigans!!
- sianc419 (10/5): Amazing - Amazing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, hotel room was clean and lovely decor! The bed was super comfy! Definitely be rebooking for next trip!
- H5073CCyasmink (10/5): Great time - Great experience Chloe was great very friendly at the bar very helpful staff a great stay at the premier inn great staff highly recommend
- ThompsonWales (4/5): Disappointed - Room was generally grubby/ walls marked and chipped. Big stain (in the wrong place) on the main chair.
Shower tray was grubby too and body wash ran out after two showers. Expensive stay for what was VERY budget experience. On a positive, the location is excellent and we enjoyed our evening meal.
- Lindyann2013 (8/5): 1 night - Stayed here whilst attending an event at Manchester Co op arena.
No onsite parking, parking on car park opposite is £20 for 24 hours.
Checked in late at night after our event but staff were efficient.
Breakfast was usual offerings, bit chaotic as it was busy.
- K4070HAlauran (10/5): Excellent staff - Courtney from the restaurant was such a lovely well mannered helpful member of staff, she was the only member of staff to make us aware of the kids menu at night, which suited my daughter better than the adults menu.
- brianwE9259DF (10/5): A real experience of staying at the Premier Inn Piccadilly manchester - The hotel was spotless throughout,
Quality and presentation of the food was very good indeed, no complaints whatsoever and reasonable priced.
A very good selection of drinks at the bar, spirits of liqueure's to cider, lager and beers not to forget soft and non-alcoholic drinks.
The staff were always friendly and on hand for any answering any queries or questions that were asked.
The staff are a credit to Premier Inn.
I'm already planning and looking forward to staying here again very soon.
- OnAir07377532258 (10/5): So far so good - Great service by AJ answered all questions, very helpful and welcoming 10/10 service...will dedinitly reccomend to others
- tinabN4283OE (10/5): Reception is super friendly with AJ being extremely helpful - AJ on reception is amazing. Printed us a map of places to eat and bus timetable aswell as being very friendly. Also moving us from the room downstairs due to a noisy person above.
- C5331NDwayneb (10/5): Delightful - Great stay Zoya remembered me and treated me well, she gave me my favourite room 219 was big and spacious as always and a delight to be back here again!
- SiLem123 (8/5): A bit of a PI time capsule but not in a bad way necessarily. - Large clean room, friendly staff, quiet hotel, slightly dated I felt. They don’t offer breakfast despite there being an adjoining pub, but this is made clear when you book and Reception has a list of places locally to get something to eat in the morning. Wi-Fi was a bit slow though didn’t pay for their faster service. I felt it was a PI ‘that time forgot’ somewhat left behind by the rest of the chain. But it was safe, cheap, had free parking and room was fine, so nothing to complain about really.
- stuartaA2440GB (6/5): This place does not live up to premier inn adverts - no restaurant available to have a breakfast. Also could not pay extra to reserve the room longer than 12 o clock check out.In the evening we were told we could stay a bit later as we had a funeral to go to.but in the morning we were told we had to check out 12 o clock.felt very badly let down. Also we found it impossible to alter the heating in the room.
- 220stewartl (4/5): Wouldn’t bother - Room dirty found a used condom under the mattress. It was noisy as kids staying in room next to us and they were loud until the early morning
- 575schwarzc (10/5): Thank you Zoya for all your help - Zoya was fantastic, and was very accommodating and professional. Thank you Premier Inn and I recommend this place. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful and friendly.
- K6796QMryanb (10/5): Very good - Reception was great, service was brilliant, however there was no water during our stay so couldn’t even have a shower or use the toilet
- lewist723 (10/5): Amazing - Had a great stay at Swinton, been a few times and always fantastic staff always friendly and wanting to help couldn’t ask for anything more
- 297zayny (10/5): - Stayed over for the oasis concert staff where very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and how to get to and from Heaton park even recommended places to go drink and eat. Thank you so much to the team at Swinton
- zaraa353 (10/5): Park-life fest - Stayed with my friend for park-life, staff were so so nice and kind helpful with check in and giving us information, shout out to Leanne and char I think their names was great help!
- russbI9620OU (10/5): Great stay - Great location great staff, stayed for visiting family very close by perfect location. Would definitely stay again staff were really helpful even left some treats in my room, great bonus. Also recommended some great spots for breakie bit unfortunate they don’t have a restaurant but won’t stop me staying again.
- emmatiffin (10/5): Good experience - Great stay. Quiet dark room so ideal for sleeping. Also very clean and good strong hot shower
Check in by lovely lady called Charlotte
She was very friendly and efficient
Location is good and accessible with plenty of parking
Pub next door is good but restricted opening times as per your website
- debdN6813AR (8/5): Short stay - Room was very clean and comfortable shower nice bed very comfortable only downside to this hotel is that there's no restaurant on site and was not told this before arrival so the planned breakfast didn't happen and did not prepare for this the staff very friendly and helpful
- Meander47573244748 (10/5): comfortable, clean and affordable hotel! - I had a wonderful stay at the hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, especially a young woman at the reception wearing glasses. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, making it the perfect place to relax and sleep. Also, I really appreciated the service and the affordability. I truly felt well taken care of during my stay, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable and enjoyable experience. I look forward to staying here again in the future! :) thank you guys
