Guest Reviews
- kerri_sweeting (6/5): Mixed bag! - Stayed here for one night with my husband at the end of November. The hotel itself is nice and the staff were friendly. We were allocated room 208. As soon as we got out of the lift we noticed a very stale smell. Our room, didn’t smell nice at all. Very stale and damp smelling. The room itself was clean but the smell was unpleasant. The windows do not open at all so the air is a stagnant air conditioning smell. I wanted to complain but my husband said we would hardly be in the room, so we didn’t. We had some lovely cocktails before dinner which were 2 for 1, very good value. Our evening meal was nice and tasty. Unfortunately breakfast, although replenished quickly was swimming in grease, in particular the eggs, mushrooms and bacon which was a shame. We wouldn’t stay here again but would try one of the other Premier Inns in Derby next time.
- helengB4654BZ (2/5): Not good at all - Room was far too hot, we had the window open and the desktop fan in the room on, it was still 25degrees in the morning. There is a lot of road traffic noise all night. So we had an awful nights sleep. Other guests were not considerate, banging from adjoining room and guest in room above us woke us at 0400 stomping around. We have stayed here several times before, it will be the last time now as there is always a problem. Hotel is starting to look very shabby.
- deverx (10/5): Long stay - Great hotel with excellent sea views and nice staff and very good service.Convienient restaurant next door with filling breakfast.
- Q6703LXjonr (10/5): Fantastic 1 nights stay - Fantastic location bang in the middle of Doncaster, great Atmosphere, Big clean rooms.
Could have been cheaper, unfortunately I was next the boiler room and it kept me awake most of the night other than that never heard a thing.
Fantastic staff going out of their way to help. Plenty of Amenities around love the wool market around the corner full of food vendors from around the world and bars plus games too.
- 797ip (2/5): Worst Premier Inn in Derby by Far - 27th November 2025, at your Derby Cathedral Quarter hotel.
From the outset, the experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, my wives and I had to wait almost five minutes to be seated, despite the restaurant being quiet and no staff visible when we entered from the street. Eventually, we were served by Suzanne, but the issues continued throughout our visit.
• After paying, we found only two tables in use, yet when attempting to start our breakfast, the coffee machine displayed a “call staff” alert. This caused further delays, and when I finally managed to resolve it, the coffee tasted weak, unpleasant, and nothing like the Costa standard I am accustomed to at Premier breakfasts.
• Basic items were missing: no small side plates, no malted bread, and no croissants. At this point, I felt more like I was working at Premier Inn than being served as a guest.
• The cooked breakfast itself was poor in quality and presentation. The beans were dry and crushed over the hash browns, which were hard as rock. The eggs had clearly been sitting for so long they would have been better boiled. I had wanted poached eggs, but again, no staff were available to assist.
Overall, the service was inadequate, the food substandard, and the entire experience fell far below the standards I expect from Premier Inn. Without doubt, this was the worst breakfast I have ever had at one of your hotels
- wgardner101 (4/5): Disrupted Night Sleep - I stayed for 2 x nights early in November to see friends in the local area.
I’ve stayed here a few times and the experience is usually good and typical for a Premier Inn. It is located within walking distance of the city centre and has a relationship with a multi-storey car park about 10 minutes away. There is a car park right next to the hotel that is not affiliated and I have not parked there.
The first night (Friday) was uneventful and I ate in the restaurant on site which was nice.
The second night was heavily disrupted due to a guest repeatedly setting off the fire alarm at around 01:30 on the Sunday early hours. This caused a full evacuation in the freezing cold only to observe the guest in question complaining about the fire assembly point and being violent with staff whilst the guests watched on. This went on for about 20 minutes until the police arrived, while we all had to wait outside in the cold.
I was sure that Premier Inn would see this as a disruptive night sleep and the staff agreed when I raised the issue at the time but asked me to visit reception in the morning as they were giving statements to the police. I finally got to sleep at 3am and upon checkout was given a card to request my refund. (Un)surprisingly Premier Inn refused to honour this when I asked so I was left with a disrupted night sleep and a sour taste of the whole experience.
- 868stellaj (10/5): Great relaxing break - The hotel is located just a very short walk to the shops, bars, restaurants, car parks and cash machines. The hotel has a lovely comfortable, friendly atmosphere.
Our room was very spacious and clean, it also had a bath as well as an over bath shower. The hotel exceeded our expectations.
- anthonybG8797XZ (6/5): Need smart tv - Was nice lovely staff nice room nice size bathroom but tv is old not smart no apps was a sock have take to stars away but if you don’t care about apps tv it be lovely nice place
- Inspire55106090704 (10/5): Nice place to stay very friendly staff - Nice place to stay very friendly staff warm welcome clean room everything you need with being in the town centre wouldn't have a problem staying here again
- Elizabeth195 (10/5): Great value for money - Love staying here . The rooms have always been perfect , the staff friendly and professional , and breakfast and the evening meal were great . Nice bars and restaurants nearby if you want to venture out and plenty of shops and a good shopping centre . Casino also nearby
Looking forward to returning
- jayneb443 (10/5): Overnight stay - Lovely reception staff Lee friendly and helpful
Room fantastic over looking harbour
Felt safe and secure travelling on my own
2 nightshift lads lovley also
- jamesjT6523IK (8/5): Standard premier inn - Standard for premier inn, they are all very similar. You know what you’re getting.
The room however was very cold on arrival. I was supplied with a heater but a cold room is not ideal after a long day when you just want to relax.
- Cruiser770087 (10/5): Lovely staff, great stay! - Lovely warm welcome from the staff, the minute we arrived. All our queries were answered and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be.
We look forward to visiting again!
- tiptonite54 (8/5): Rooms a little tired but great location - Great location for all City centre has to offer but obviously pay premium for that
Parking was awkward there is an unloading bay outside but secure parking is about 10 minute walk away but the hotel offers a discount there is parking adjoining the hotel but is private company and not secure
But as usual a comfortable stay
- ofrdreview (10/5): A good choice. - If you're at the front of the hotel you're likely to get a sea view, especially on a higher floor. Or if you're at the back, as I was, you'll get a nice 'white cliffs' view! Friendly staff and no issues at all during a nice one night stay.
- 388shauno (10/5): Awesome staff - Very friendly staff and extremely helpful receptionist went above and beyond considering she had to do unnecessary admin
- joelpY1048PY (10/5): Doncaster premier - A comfortable hotel with friendly staff and good food. The chef Alex is brilliant and caters to my needs what with being disabled I sometimes need my food cut up and it’s never a problem. Best gammon I’ve ever eaten. I’ll always stay here while working in the area. Never had a bad meal here and always a comfortable sleep.
- sl0ttyt (6/5): Won’t be returning - I was obviously dubious about going anywhere that lennyHenry promotes, though the room was actually ok, the wifi was pretty poor but I won’t be using Premier inns again as, until I arrived I didn’t realise, the check in time is 3pm, far too inconvenient
- Departure53858061215 (10/5): Awesome stay - I always booked premier inn for my family. I always booked 2 family room, but this is the first time they arrange 2 of the family rooms right next to each other, I am surprised by their sweet arrangement ,that’s makes an easier stay.
The free breakfast is such a good deal during term break.
The room is clean and tidy as usual,I was shocked by the nice sea view of the room, I will come again definitely!
- pra_cat2025 (10/5): Thanks for Gosia!! - Thank you Gosia!!! An extraordinary receptionist!
It was an interesting experience starting right from check in because we were met by a wonderful receptionist named Gosia, thanks to her the day started wonderfully so we want to thank her plus the hotel is very nice all the facilities ARE clean and I really like that it is located in the city center where we have access to everything we need from shopping to restaurants.
- 299remmyr (2/5): Bedbugs! - A horrible experience last night. Only had to sleep for 1 night, I had room 302 and the bed I chose turned out to be infested with bed bugs.... woke up with loads of parasite bites on my leg. Definitely do not recommend this hotel for any purposes. I was staying at the hotel from 29.10.2025 to 30.10.2025.
- BavarianGS (10/5): Overnight Stay En Route Europe - What a fantastic location and hotel .
We were visiting mainland Europe so planned an overnight stop off before departing for France in the morning.
Easy to find the parking space upon arrival.
Everything was absolutely perfect.
Louise the manageress and her team were so so friendly and super helpful.
Nothing at all was too much trouble or effort for Louise or her team .
The location is perfectly suited to the nearby Ferry Terminal in Dover or Eurotunnel a few miles away .
We had a lovely spacious room which was immaculately presented and spotlessly clean .
Our room benefited from a sea view which really was the highlight of the stay .
We will definitely return to Dover Central again.
Massive recommendation to anyone wanting to stay in this area or for an overnight stop before heading to Europe.
Again a huge thank you to Louise and her team .
We can’t wait to come back .
Absolutely Fabulous

- padreray (10/5): Comfortable and Spacious (accessible) - This was our second stay at the Dover Central. It was a comfortable and pleasant break with good sleep quality and ease of access. We were in an accessible room (Number 4), and it was spacious and the accessible shower room was really well laid out. The room was quiet, and the temperature control was good. There was also loads of hot water. The parking on site was a reasonably priced extra, and was more than offset by the free breakfast booking deal we recieved. The 3 pm check-in is pretty strictly held, but we didn't need to wait long after our arrival.
- DaveC24601 (6/5): Poor sleeping/room temperature - Dinner great. Breakfast good. Only problem I had this time was the room was too hot and you couldn’t cool it down so poor sleep all round. Had the fan (provided in room) turned on and didn’t feel anything at all from it. We always have had a great night sleep with premier inn
- Dreamer42549928314 (10/5): View of the harbour - Short stay on our way to France, on arrival check in was easy, the friendly receptionist helped us book a table for the restaurant, the room was clean, the view from the room of the harbour was a nice point, The meal in the restaurant was pleasant,
- Freedom31136760446 (10/5): handy luggage storage - I arrived early for check in, it was handy l was able to store my luggage and explore what Dover had to offer,
Check in was quick and easy, the room was clean and comfortable, the seaview added to the experience, The restaurant, was handy just next door,
- 719jeanettew (10/5): A good hotel - It is a very good hotel, priced right, clean, warm and central to Derby with friendly staff. We have been staying there since it opened and will continue in the future.
- gailhP5248ET (10/5): Family fun - Me and my family stayed overnight and were greeted by friendly staff. After a long journey we were able to check in and go to our room which was spacious and clean and tidy and warm. We came down to dinner in the resteraunt and were greeted by more friendly staff. Food was good value and did the job. After having a bath and a goods night sleep we came down for breakfast which was all you can eat and plenty of it. The rest of my family enjoyed their stay and can't wait to come back.
- sherreyannw (10/5): Always a good stay - A lovely check in and friendly team.
Tracy cleaned our room, it’s beautifully done.
I will return as it’s right near the port with an excellent view.
- matthewmZ1212DR (10/5): The staff made us feel at home after going through a trauma in our life. We lost our home due to fire. They were very friendly a - The staff at the premier inn, marine parade in dover made us feel at home. They were sympathetic and understanding and always took time to listen to us. They made us comfortable and treated us like we were part of the family. It was small things where they were attentive and took notice of us. We were there for several months due to losing our home through fire. Not once did we hear them complain and we noticed they work as a team. They were always asking if we are ok and saying good morning to us. They kept asking if there is anything we need. Also they let us have privacy, they didn't keep knocking on our door to change the room but they just said if we need it to ask. We left there on the 23rd of October and it felt like we were leaving family behind. Overall I would say they really looked after us and they all deserve a big bonus.
- Road187861 (4/5): Aftercare terrible - Hotel was lovely, but when you need to speak to anyone there was no one on the front desk. We came home and unfortunately left my husband’s glasses behind. There is no one to call and ask whether they had been found or not only an email address that never gets answered.
- ianmel1969 (8/5): Good if you choose the right side - As others have said, make sure you ask or pay the extra for a room on the harbour side. The other side is not particularly pleasant.
Staff were pretty good, the young man checked me in himself using the pointless self check in desk. I was in my room within 3 mins of entering the building.
Breakfast looked all in order, although it's about time orange juice was put back on the menu.
Try to get top floor if you can. I was on the 2nd floor of three. Sounded like an elephant on the top floor clomping around non stop at 6am. Felt like they could burst through the ceiling.
Room was decent and clean.
About a 20 min walk from Dover Priory station and a 10 min walk from the main bus stops in Pencester Road.
- E3212DDrickyc (10/5): Amazing - We arrived at Fishergate Doncaster and was greeted by the lovely Cheryl. She was very friendly and accommodating. Also the hotel is very clean and tidy
- alexbN1033AU (10/5): Amazing - Very good experience, Cheryl was amazing on reception and helped us with everything we needed. First time in Doncaster and will sure be back!!
- Cosmic14x (8/5): On the whole, one of the better Premier Inn's - Stayed for a weekend away on a special deal.
Breakfast here is exceptionally good, porridge just right, sausages well browned, I cannot fault the breakfast! Usual comfy bed, only downside was dinner on first night, the staff try and seat everyone in a small area to save themselves a few steps, and you may end up on a table with people continually walking past very close to you on three sides! We ate elsewhere on the second night.
One bit of advice, it is well worth paying the small supplement for a harbour facing room. As well as the view, there is virtually no traffic on that side. If you don't, you will get a room at the back, with the dual carriageway leading to the docks right beneath your windows. The ferry operation is 24/7, so don't expect a quiet night!
- 158saralap (10/5): Memorable stay - The experience was so amazing as we got a room with a sea view without any request on location. From the reception onwards the staff was very friendly. Cleanliness was very pleasant. Worth the value. Breathtaking views made the atmosphere feel more inviting. Closer access to all the beautiful sight sceneries.
- Q940NYlukes (10/5): Highly recommend - Had an excellent stay at the premiere inn and would definitely recommend to others and plan to return for any future trips to Derby. Staff were excellent, friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
- 996lynseyf (2/5): Poor - Very poor
The room is tired. Bathroom cabinet shows signs of water damage.
Hair dryer not working
No one on reception on arrival
TV some channels dont work
The bathroom has extremely poor ventilation. After having a shower, every surface is running with water
The room is boiling hot
Generally extremely poor. In need of refurbishment
- anitakE2477OT (10/5): Work colleagues night out - Big thank you to Steph , Kayleigh and the handsome guy- sorry don’t remember the name- for hosting us last night. Food was really good and well presented. Lovely atmosphere and very clean restaurant.
Really recommend.
- stevenkD1593FL (10/5): Another great Premier Inn - Stopped in this hotel for one night for a business training course. Excellent hotel, easy check in process with approachable staff (Lad with braids) didn't get your name sorry. Nice clean room. Walking distance for shops. Phatbuns is a great takeaway if you fancy a burger! Breakfast was great and very tasty. Would certainly book again if in the area.
- darrenbN8413ZQ (10/5): Thank you - Great staff easy check in sorted me out to stay in the same room as I had multiple bookings thank you to everyone came across the manager Cheryl Jill Rolanda and the housekeeping team for a great clean room
- paulasL1819KU (10/5): Fantastic - Absolutely fantastic lovely staff love it fast check in and very helpful can’t wait to come back the staff go above and beyond
- Wightbaby (10/5): Usual good standard plus new delicious menu - Usual standard of cleanliness and nice quiet comfortable room.
This was just a one night stopover before we joined a group holiday in the area.
The new menu (Thyme) was a bonus and most definitely an improvement on the usual fodder on offer in the past
- Escape13105508257 (10/5): 2 night stay - Great 2 night stay . Good food and nice rooms loved it .the breakfast was outstanding . The staff were so welcoming and helpful I would not hesitate to stay in a premier inn as this was our first time thank you Premier inns .
- 820eleanore (10/5): Lovely hotel and staff - We come here everytime we are in Doncaster
The staff is lovely and always helps us out if anything needed.
The rooms are well sized and has everything needed
- LippyD (2/5): They need to sort out the exterior banging sound - Had a room at the end of a corridor on the second highest floor. All night something outside was banging against something metallic. At first I thought it was the air-conditioning but I turned it off and still the sound happened regularly. It was like a cable or tile was loose, but being 5 floors up I couldn't see what it was the next morning.
I reported it to the staff, but as it's outside of the building they have to contact the maintenance team.
- lannerd2024 (10/5): Perfect stay - Absolutely fantastic staff who are so happy to help. Rooms Absolutely clean and perfect. Would definitely stay again.
- AirportStu (8/5): Overall a standard stay - just watch for the noisy side! - The location of the premier inn is nice and central and is about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Staff were super friendly and the hotel/room was cleans and up to standard. The only thing that was a disappointment is the noise you could hear from the room. I was in room 408, where we could hear the loud music and karaoke from the pub behind and this went on until around midnight so no chance a of a nice early sleep. If you have a road side room you will be fine and maybe would have appreciated a warning from the staff at check in that this could be a possibility.
- Trek41044192360 (8/5): No problems. - The hotel had a good location at a budget price and it was also within easy walking distance of the shops. The room and bathroom were clean.
- Fearless13312738442 (10/5): Excelent! - Thank you so much for hosting our group once again. The service was very professional, the rooms were clean, and the food was delicious. Special thanks to Gosia, who took care of our reservation.
- neilrP797TB (10/5): Early check in - stay for pleasure - Great location and the ease of the check in was very good. I requested early checkin in and they couldn’t be more helpful. The rooms were very clean and had everything required. No issues at all would recommend to all. My next stay is booked for Dec
- I8418PSchrisw (10/5): Polite and courteous - The friendly staff member who was on duty to check me and my business associates in was extremely cheerful. It was around 7PM in the evening and quite late but still found time to have a human conversation which brought some normality into a crazy world. Credit to them. Hotel as standard and was clean to a degree
- rich67 (10/5): Premier Inn, Cathedral Quarter, Perfect - Hotel is perfect for visiting Derby..Very central to everything... Beautiful Cathedral across the road,,and many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance
- 107saadiaa (10/5): Excellent customer service by the receptionist & breakfast team. - We stayed one night at Cathedral. The facilities were very basic of course being a budget hotel. The breakfast was basic however the noteworthy thing was these 2 lovely women(staff) attending us for breakfast. It was Friday morning, summer holidays , pretty packed up morning, slow food coming out of kitchen. Aggie & Lorraine tirelessly attended everyone with patience & politeness even in this pressured time. My son was ill they ensure I get a take-away breakfast for him. Breakfast time they were understaff so definitely need to pump up staff members at the most popular time of the day i.e breakfast.
- 108JasonR (8/5): Good hotel and location for the price - Good example of a Premier Inn, one of the better ones I’ve stayed in. Great location if you’re going to Vaillant Live for a show.
2 car parks within 2-3 minutes walking distance.
Rooms clean and comfortable, staff friendly and a very good breakfast choice.
- N6915YNtanyam (10/5): Very friendly..... - Excellent customer service.... Leighton was very friendly with a lovely smile..... very helpful indeed.
Thank you 😊
- C2538MEandrewm (10/5): Lovely hotel and fab Staff - Lovely hotel well situated in the town centre. It is approx 10 to 15 minutes walk from the railway station.
The staff on arrival were extremely courteous and helpful. In the evening the staff wee down on numbers, and were kept exceptionally busy, but all the while courteous.
The food in the evening was fantastic.
The bedroom was very clean and the beds comfy slept really well.
- TheOriginalMcFishie (10/5): Perfect place for the night - I love premier inn, you know what you're getting and it delivers. Comfortable, quiet room, friendly staff. If you're in Derby the Cathedral City property is lovely (its also air conditioned!)
- finnbeaud (10/5): Staff are very hospitable :) - Lorraine was lovely and doesn’t keep you waiting long, attitude is on point, and was great to be welcomed in to, asset to the team for sure, thank you lorraine!
- chrisrL6523TT (8/5): Everything fine, needs thought on the bed though!! - Would have been a 5, but, we felt that whilst the wetroom was very good, considering it was an accessability room the bed just appeared to be just the normal bed and low. People with reduced mobility also tend to have trouble getting off and on the bed and tend to need a higher bed. Otherwise our stay here was excellent
