Guest Reviews
- jamiebC440NZ (10/5): Great location, lovely staff - Me and my wife stayed for one night and we really found it such a pleasant stay. Even though there is renovations it did not hamper our stay. We found all the staff so welcoming and with no restaurant for the time being they were really helpful in explaining where the good places to eat and drink were. They also laid on free coffee, fruit and croissants. Definitely recommend
- martingR1613ZC (10/5): Great place - Lovely staff and lovely rooms. Stay here regularly and love it. The staff make you feel very welcome. Lovely touch of free coffee and snacks in the morning as the restaurant is currently closed.
- Safari40698276201 (10/5): Great stay - Great stay. Restaurant was being refurbished but coffee and pastries were available at all times which was fantastic.
- Britsardo (6/5): Good hotel, bad breakfast - Pros - The rooms are a good size and clean. There are plenty of parking spaces and the rooms are very quiet. The price for the rooms were very reasonable and check in was easy.
The staff are helpful and friendly.
Cons - The breakfast was terrible for the price. Nothing was getting refilled and you had to ask for missing items. The orange juice and water were empty. There was no white bread (until you asked for it), limited choice of bread, and the pastries were dry.
There was only a choice of over hard eggs, no soft yolk, scrambled or boiled eggs were offered.
The breakfast timing was terrible, so you spent time waiting for items, such as if the eggs were cooked, then the bacon was missing etc.
- orlanmike (8/5): Typical Premier Plus room - Usual Premier Inn standard with comfy bed, fridge and Nespresso machine. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was diabolical, possibly the worst meal I've ever had. Totally disinterested serving staff, huge wait times and dire food. Make sure you go out for dinner. Buffet breakfast was actually ok as was the staff.
- Chart50 (6/5): This Premier Inn has gone down in our estimation - Our room was disappointing as the coffee machine leaked badly & when we mentioned it, a member of staff said they all leaked so we didn't use it again. The walk in shower did not drain away so I checked the drain plug & it was clogged up with hair etc. I removed it & put it into the bin in the bathroom. I complained to the member of staff & she said she would send the housekeeper up to our room, we never saw her. We did not know that the adjoining restaurant had been shut & that there was an inhouse café for dinner & breakfast. We were told that it had been closed for 2 years but we stay every November & it was open last year. We travel from the Midlands & it is nearly a 3 hour journey so we had to wait in our car until our room was ready as we did not want to pay the supplement for the 40 minute wait. We were allowed to use the toilet as we had nowhere else to go. In the café for dinner there was a small menu with a few items not available. What we had was OK although there was quite a wait. Breakfast was chaotic as the café is very small. The staff tried very hard to replenish items but there really wasn't enough of them to service so many people at once. Very unfair I thought. We had already booked a return for 2 nights next month & unsure what to expect.
- davelR4026WN (10/5): Made to feel very welcome - Fantastic thanks to Kerry and Kerri who made me feel very at home when I was missing my own home. They made me a late night cup of decaf and chatted to me for ten minutes and it made me feel less lonely
- dermotl552 (4/5): Location was an issue for finding some where to eat and problems with the drainage in the room we had. - I had a review form sent to my email, but clicked on it to complain about the issues we had with the room but it said it had timed out. So I want to leave a review here. when I booked once it confirmed my booking it came up as one person, I contacted the hotel to say there would be two people staying. when we booked in they said they would bring another towel for the bathroom. but had to go to reception to get the towel. No place to eat close by so booked to eat . the staff were good but the food was microwaved and not that good and the meal was expensive for what it was. the bar was even more expensive. the room was good enough but the sink and bath were making noises when we went to sleep and having a shower in the morning the water did not run away and filled up the bath. and did not run away for about 15 minutes. the drainage system had problems. I was going to bring these issues up with them but could not access the form due to it being timed out . Alack of places to eat nearby which you would need to drive to for a good place to eat. I would not stay at this premier inn again . But would try the other premier inn in Salisbury if I had to go again.
- RossO191 (10/5): Top stay - The staff were really helpful in helping decided which were the best places to eat while I stayed at the hotel . They were all really polite and nothing was any bother for them
- marthanW6105QA (2/5): Absolutely disgusting - Absolutely disgusting food staff spoke to Nat like something off there shoe, never got told about works, I was told I would get a refund and still haven't received anything from the manger that was there
- Tour13056051928 (10/5): Everyone went above and beyond - I am writing this review on behalf of my mother who is in her 70s and on her own. Sam, Harry and Maeve made the stay so wonderful for her and made her very comfortable and at ease. Sam listened to my mum's requirements and spent time to find her the most suitable room. All staff were approachable and friendly, the room was spotlessly clean and nothing was too much hassle. Thank you to everyone! Entirely recommend.
- 351cabr (10/5): Great customer service - If someone looking for hotel in Saffron Walden Premier inn is the best place. We stayed there for few nights and found best service ever.
Specially they have great customer service. I can’t thank enough (Laura) how she helped us in last minute booking. She is amazing and very helpful. Highly recommend
- W8874LTmda (10/5): Excellent Stay at Premiere inn Saffron Walden - We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Saffron Walden Premier inn. From the moment we arrive, the staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely helpful. The check in process was quick and smooth. The room was spotless and comfortable. We had travel from other country to attend a programme. It was really convenient for us. Overall, the combination of friendly staff, cleanliness and great service made us a perfect choice. We wouldn't hesitate stay here again and highly recommended to any one visiting this area.
- Y4346QDtimm (4/5): Not the usual Premier Inn experience, very poor. Would not return here. - Disappointed with the restaurant and the attitude of the staff. Had to remind them we had not ordered food, then had to remind them to bring the drinks. At that point, only brought half our drinks order out, then only brought 4 out of 6 desserts and no apology offered. We were told the "Kids Eat Free" offer didn't apply as we had not got the meal deal, despite the terms saying otherwise! Certainly not the usual Premier Inn standard. When we raised the issues with the staff, they appeared as though they couldn't care less.
The following morning at breakfast was much better, and more like the usual Premier Inn service with friendly, attentive staff. The restaurant is too small for the size of the hotel.
We will not be returning to this Premier Inn in the future.
- SaintJase (4/5): Not my best experince - This hotel really has put me off staying here again, i arrived at 15:
35 to be told room was not ready and that i would have to return back to reception 20 mins later, there was no cooked breakfast options availble due to no stock. Paid for a meal deal for three people and we only had the evening meal, food was not the best, bland and dry and waited over an hour for main mean.
Room was clean and comfortable, plenty of parking, lady at check inn was not very polite at all.
The social was rather small
- Roam55695209778 (10/5): If you’re looking for a nice Hotel, look no further. - Really enjoyable and comfortable stay how it should be. from the minute I walked in the door, I was greeted by friendly staff Jessica, Marcia well done 10/10 , plus all the restaurant Staff & chef all made up a good team… meal deal I can strongly recommend great value and tasty food. The rooms were comfortable and recently refurbished, very impressed. Would definitely stay here again. and thank you very much to all the housekeeping Staff. The place was spotless and I found them very friendly and helpful. Well done.
- 186bevw (2/5): Terrible - Salisbury north Bishopsdown
Travelled over 3 hours for a funeral. Got to the inn after 6pm to be told there's is limited food for breakfast.
Got to my room , very clean but mattress was hard and quilt hadnt been put inside the cover properly which meant it was wrapping round my legs, so had to make the bed myself also one pillow was lumpy and the other as flat as.
Went down for breakfast to be told again limited food, if you ate any thing you still pay for the cooked breakfast. £10.99. There was egg beans and hash browns which to me doesn't amount to the price of a cooked breakfast.
I can say I wasn't the only person complaining. Yes Igot a refund but after not having a good night's sleep to not having any breakfast, I then had to drive home for 3 hours . I always enjoy staying at a premier Inn for the comfort of the beds and the cooked breakfast, I have to say how disappointed I was. Don't think I will be staying at Bishopsdiwn again
- emilyw (8/5): Much improved rooms - Credit where credit is due - I'm back and the rooms have been refurbished. They are clean and everything is in a great condition.
A couple of things took it down a point though. Our room wasn't ready at 15:30. Breakfast is an odd set up and could be made clearer. We were asked at check in if we wanted breakfast the next day and we declined. However we were staying for 3 nights and foolishly we thought we could go on another morning. If you haven't booked you could only have continental which looked a bit sorry for itself. Hot food is now cooked according to those who have booked in which is great for food waste but not really the unlimited offer advertised. Fortunately there are other better options nearby The Wood Bar, Salt deli and M&S at the petrol station. Other guests continue to be noisy. None of these are deal breakers now that the rooms are so much better.
- HerculesWeymouth (10/5): Great stay as usual! - Yet another lovely stay at the Premier Inn Saffron Walden and although due to renovations there was no restaurant facilities we appreciated the free pastries, fruit and coffee/tea that were available every morning. The coffee machine was also available 24/7 which was nice to be able to use after a day out. We also appreciated the box of chocolates left in our room by the hotel manager Harry, who along with Sam and all their staff were very friendly and helpful including Emma and Maeve on our departure. Our room was clean and comfortable and of course we had a great night's sleep 💤💤💤💤💤 We'll look forward to returning next year!
- weevle21 (8/5): Good hotel, poor breakfast experience - The location and hotel was great, friendly staff and fairly quiet. Didn't get woken up by people stamping above us, but that's probably just luck, as it's a common thing for premier inns!
We love Premier Inn normally and the breakfast is a big treat for my kids, but this place was very disappointing. The perpetual toaster was broken, so just a 4 slice pop up toaster in action. Pancakes and crumpets kept running out and not topped up until you point it out and the hot food was something else.... Mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon was consistently undercooked, bacon is eaten differently by everyone so this was ok but the rest was a bit rubbish. Food was running out and taking ages to restock. Normally they are cooking and topping up the food before it runs out, but the hash browns, sausages and eggs weren't put into the oven until they had run out, meaning people were stood waiting for hash browns on one day for ten minutes!
The eating area is very small and cosy, felt sorry for the woman with a wheelchair struggling to get around, and my feet were constantly sticking to the floor, particularly when sat at the tables!
Not as enjoyable as it usually is at a premier inn
- Destination727465 (4/5): Avoid the restaurant, a let down from start to finish - The room itself was very clean and comfortable, which we appreciated after a long day. However, the bedside table was more of a small stool and not really fit for purpose.
Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was extremely disappointing and should be avoided. When we first enquired about an evening meal, the restaurant was empty, yet we were advised to book and return in half an hour. When we did, it was suddenly full and clearly understaffed. The menu was limited and overpriced for what was offered.
I ordered the fish and chips, which came with bread and butter that we paid extra for — except there was no butter, and the bread was completely dried out and inedible. After finishing our meal, we waited 20 minutes just to receive the dessert menu. I ordered the banoffee cheesecake, only to be served it without bananas and with no explanation given.
Breakfast the next morning was equally poor. The so-called “unlimited breakfast” was very limited — no hot food was being cooked, no pastries were available, and the latte machine dispensed only warm milk with no coffee.
Overall, this was by far the worst Premier Inn restaurant we have ever visited. When we raised our concerns, the team showed little interest and didn’t seem to care at all.
- emmahY5084ZO (6/5): Good rooms, poor breakfast - Nice comfy typical Premier Inn.
Room and facilities good. Very pleased to have an actual bath. Staff friendly.
Breakfast was chaotic. The room is too small to accommodate all guests. Despite adverts saying they provided the full Breakfast range staff told me their kitchen is unable to provide porridge, eggs (other than fried) or the vegetarian sausage/bacon.
Would stay at the hotel again but probably wouldn't book breakfast.
- Catherine (8/5): - Chambre très propre Bonne literie hotel à proximité du centre
- L7531TYscottw (10/5): Great stay - Excellent service friendly helpful staff excellent nights sleep especially Sam and Maeve who are very friendly and helpful. Great coffee in reception also.
- Explorer20048171741 (10/5): Great - Love this hotel, it's lovely and quiet. No issues with the room. Had a bath which is amazing as many hotels don't have baths anymore only showers. Looking forward to the all new bar and restaurant. Emma and Laura on reception were great, gave a list of places to eat and that could use the coffee machine at any point.
- D349ECjonathang (2/5): not good - no atmosphere, horrid experience, no restaurant, lacklustre service, cold bedroom, lukewarm water, no one to complain to
- veldal796 (10/5): A truly positive experience at a personally difficult time - My husband is in a wheelchair and it is all new to us. The staff were so incredibly helpful and supportive it was amazing. They are going through a refurb and go out of their way to accommodate guests. I would like to mention two member in particular. Harry and Maeve. Though I have to say they were all really great
- 381glenysn (10/5): Big up for Charlotte! - Big up for Charlotte who found a very special earring that was lost by a family member. The Premier Inn couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you.
- trevors211 (8/5): No restaurant, not stay - renovation work is taking place that means no restaurant and limited parking due to builders taking the space. interestingly night cost is increasing during this period and this is not pleasing to the point I am moving to a different hotel within the area
- WanderingPeter65 (10/5): Great spot for exploring local attractions - Stopped by on a visit to Audley end house (I do recommend), restaurant being shut was a shame but I found a nice Italian place in town for my dinner. The staff I met were friendly and chatty and I appreciated the free parking. I must come back when I go to the nearby museum of Duxford.
- mehmetserefd (10/5): Nice & Cozy Business Trip Hotel - My trip was from 25.08.2025 till 05.9.2025, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who were during that time on Duty. It was very close to everywhere in Saarbrücken. However, because of Constructions around it was always difficult to drive there, which of course has nothing to do with the Hotel. I'm bringing up because despite the Constructions around, the Rooms were very quiet, and you didn't here a single sound. Inside the Hotel everything was available, Breakfast didn't make me miss my Breakfast at home, the Variety and taste 5 out of 5 stars. A nice, quite huge lobby for having nice conversations in comfortable seats/couches was 5 out of 5. The only thing I could complain about is if you go and sit outside the Hotel the WLAN was not available even if you are sitting in front of the Windows, there I would give 3 out of 5 but inside the WLAN was accessible anywhere.
- hugmeplease (4/5): Nice Airshow -Shame about the hotel ! - My Wife booked in February a book now /pay later option for a hotel & breakfast & Evening Meal & Evening Drinks for my 60th with a trip to nearby Duxford for the Airshow in September. Not advised before arrival that the restaurant was closed (July?) the receptionist just brushed off our concerns. Receptionist was replacing lightbulbs near the lift whilst buzzers and small warning alarms went off behind his desk - obviously, those " alarms " were not important. Hotel is 20 minutes on foot to the nearest restaurant (however Aldi over the road allowed us “room salad & cold chicken pieces” as an alternative meal for our room the following night) Complementary Breakfast offered exactly as per previous reviewer. Oh, the Airshow was Nice!
- USMAN (10/5): - Will recommend!
- kuldipx (10/5): Comfortable no nonsense stay. - Booked convenient location for weekend event. Easy parking and great service from staff.
Clean bright room. Looked new. No complaints. Would recommend for easy comfortable no nonsense stay.
- 54DavidM (4/5): Not a pleasant experience at all - Not the happiest time at a hotel. The restaurant was under reconstruction so a complimentary ‘continental breakfast’ was offered. This turned out to be a packaged croissant or pain au chocolat with nothing to put it on or to put on it - no butter, jam or any such and not even a paper plate or plastic knife to use. The coffee machine dispensed excellent coffee, which was the one saving grace.
The bed was good, as we expect from Premier Inn, but simple things, like replacing the soap dispenser when the top had gone completely rusty, let down the bathroom.
Most annoyingly when we returned at 21.30 after an evening meal that we had to drive to, (there being no restaurants in walking distance from the hotel), we found that the disabled parking bays had a number of tradesmen’s vehicles parked in them, so there was nowhere for us to park. The rest of the car park was full so we had to park around the back of the hotel on double yellow lines.
- 959malcp (10/5): Positive review - Sadly restaurant was closed due to a refurbishment starting but staff was excellent and on top a 24 hrs free Coffee / tea bar was open for guests
- jamessS2218VN (10/5): The best customer service ever! - The hotel is comfortable and peaceful. The staff are utterly amazing. In particular Kerry, who has excellent customer service and is professional and a great asset to the Premier Inn group. Kerry assisted me when I had a challenge with my car and went well above and beyond the call of duty to help. 5 out of 5 star rating!!!
- joannevcoleman (10/5): Kerry and Louis went above and beyond - Lovely staff, extremely accommodating especially Kerry and Louis on reception, clean rooms and amazing breakfasts
Thank you
- philipaw2025 (10/5): Always our choice in Saffron Walden - Great location. Easy walk to Saffron Walden town centre and shops (e.g. Aldi)/coffee (Costa) on the doorstep. Free parking. Lift accessible. Good size rooms and always a comfortable night's sleep. Little one slept well in the cot too.
- marksF8658YT (2/5): What an awful experience - The receptionist had a very off hand attitude, everything seemed an imposition. Ok I arrived early, but was happy to wait 45 mins to give them my order at 6:30 pm. People came and sat down I assumed they pre-booked. Orders were taken at 6 o/c. At no point was I given a menu or asked if I wanted to order. Waitress was not busy. After the allotted time I left and had a lovely meal at Wetherspoons. The receptionist would be better off in the housekeeping department away from customers.
- cashley14 (10/5): Premier stay. - This is the first time we have visited this Premier Inn, we knew that it was under going renovation prior to arriving. I can say that our room, which was located in the Annex number 217 was spotlessly clean, freshly decorated and I have no negative comments. We only stayed for one night but did have breakfast, the usual restaurant was closed because of the renovation work, however, the area allocated within the main hotel for the restaurant was absolutely fine and again we have no complaints. All the staff we came across were extremely hospitable, friendly and helpful.
I would definitely stay at this Premier again, even with the renovation works currently ongoing.
- carolebC9050DP (10/5): A very pleasant stay - We have used this inn on previous occasions as it’s on the way, when we visit our kids. The experience is always pleasant and what you tend to expect from a premier inn. This time we were met by a lovely receptionist Vicky, who went out of her way to make sure we had a room on the ground floor as my husband has limited mobility. We were in an annex which had recently been refurbished and the room was a delight. There is also a new eating area for breakfast and dinner.
- 165gillianf (10/5): Always Good - Exactly what you expect - We stay in a lot of Premier Inns when in the UK and this is probably one of the best. It is comfortable and the staff are welcoming and helpful.
They have changed the format to 'The Social' and the evening menu is not as good as previously. Also, this property would really benefit from a lift although they do make it clear that there isn't one.
Will be staying here on our next visit to Salisbury.
- AGuyfromBristol (8/5): Quirky stopover - Don't confuse this Premier Inn with the one down the road, as we did. Both business hotels near the city centre, but fine for an off-the-beaten-track stopover. Parking in an underground carpark, 15 euros a night. Never been to Saarbrücken before, probably never go again, but it was interesting to see.
- munich_wanderer (8/5): Lovely hotel, safe parking - We were on a trip from the low countries to the south of Germany so needed a place en route for an overnight and this fitted the bill.
The hotel is very new, the family room very spacious, beds really comfy, the shower really really good (has the rainfall head on the wall but also a hand held unit should you want that).
The parking garage is relatively spacious and relatively easy to get in and out of the car/ space, the cost is 15Euro per night, so not the cheapest but its a secure underground facility so far cheaper than having something happen to your car on the street!
It might have been a perfect stay only for the bathroom not being cleaned properly (the last guest had really black hair, we can presume) and there was a glitch in the air conditioning which works REALLY well, but in our case too well as there was a build up of condensation- its a known problem which they had thought was already fixed so I won't hold that too much against them.
Location is just 5 minutes further down the street from the other Premier inn, its at the edge of the city centre in a somewhat industrial / commercial area with the congress centre so the action is a little away but not too far at the same time.
We didn't get breakfast or use the bar so cant comment on that. They do serve pizza (and burgers??) until late so that might be of use to someone not wanting to head into the city upon arrival.
All in all, I can imagine we will visit again on our longer road trips and hope that the next time the bathroom doesnt experience the same issues.
